“You should bring your rain gear out today.”

Beca glances past her open locker door at Chloe who’s folding her own rain gear into her bag. “Really? It’s supposed to rain?”

“My phone says around 2:00.”

“Thanks.” She drops her whistle around her neck and slings her bag over her shoulder to shove her poncho and pants into it. “Hope I don’t have to see you out there today,” she tries as a joke.

It lands, but not as well as she’d have liked. Chloe looks equal parts amused and shocked.

“Too soon?” She closes her locker and spins the dial on it. “You know what I meant, right?”

“Yeah, I got it,” Chloe says with amusement. “See you later?”

“Sure, yeah.” Beca gives her an awkward wave and takes her leave. She knows they could walk together at least part of the way to their towers but making small talk with Chloe feels impossible after the way Stacie’s and her brains have twisted up her thoughts. Speaking of Stacie, she’s never been so grateful her friend got caught up flirting with the intern working the front desk. Beca didn’t need her there to make assuredly inappropriate statements around the two of them.

The forecast makes for a light crowd. It’s mostly locals, the regulars she sees there almost daily tanning themselves to leather, most of them well past their 60s. She tries not to be judgmental because good for them, being confident in their string bikinis and Speedos. But...she thinks she probably could have gone her entire life and been okay not staring at them every day.

She sees the clouds rolling in and checks the time on her phone: 2:10. She hasn’t even put it away when she feels a raindrop hit her foot, the only thing not sheltered by her umbrella. She hears it hitting the umbrella, a light, steady rain that has the beachgoers packing up their towels and chairs to seek shelter. She hears two quick tweets of a whistle and turns to her right toward Tower 138. She sees Chloe facing her with her hand in the air.

No message follows the signal; it’s not necessary. Beca reads it loud and clear.

“I told you so.”

She tweets back twice in acknowledgment and can’t stop the smile from creeping up on her.

It’s nice that Chloe’s thinking of her, even if it’s to gloat.

“What a boring day.”

“I needed it after yesterday,” Beca replies as she hangs her rain gear in her locker.

“Good point.” Chloe pulls on a T-shirt that’s had its sleeves cut off over her swimsuit.

“You’re not changing?” Beca immediately bites her tongue and hides her face behind her locker door. 

“Disappointed?” She can hear the smirk in Chloe’s voice and doesn’t dare to look at her. “Suit’s dry.”

“I’m not...no.” Beca fumbles with her own shirt to tug it on before she dares meet Chloe’s eyes again.

She doesn’t wait long enough, because when she does, Chloe replies with, “Bummer,” and a wink that makes Beca slam her locker with far too much force. “See you tomorrow? Can you read chapters four through six beforehand so we can hit the ground running?”

“Yeah, sure. Bye,” she says as she rushes out of the station.

Beca has to put up with Stacie’s comments and texts all damn day on Friday. It’s a blessing and a curse that Stacie has the day off; it’s another day of not having her in the locker room with them, but she now has all the time in the world to send peach and lips and scissors and tongue and water droplet emojis to Beca.

And one eggplant.

“I seriously need you to stop now,” she texts as she and Chloe walk up the steps to Chloe’s apartment.

She receives a thumbs up in reply and, thankfully, her phone finally stops vibrating.

“So, what do you want tonight?”

Beca looks up from where she’s setting her bag to see Chloe rifling through a drawer in her kitchen. She’s pulling out takeout menus to toss them onto the counter.

“Chinese? Sushi? Tacos? Thai? There’s a really good diner that delivers. They have burgers and sandwiches and stuff.” She bundles up the menus and brings them to Beca to fan them out like a magician with a deck of cards.

“Maybe the diner?”

Chloe smiles. “Exactly what I was thinking.” She peels back the top two menus to prompt Beca to pull the one labeled ‘Eddie’s on Main’ out of the stack.

Beca waits on the couch looking over the notes she brought while Chloe calls in their order: a cheeseburger and fries for Beca and a chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries for Chloe.

“Okay, so, whatcha got?” Chloe asks as she drops down onto the couch on the neutral middle cushion and not the far one.

Beca clears her throat. “Um, I jotted down some thoughts about how we can demonstrate a submerged passive. Figured since that’s what got us this gig…”

“Good idea. Who’s going to play the victim?”

“A volunteer. We have to demonstrate the two-person assist.”

“Oh, duh,” Chloe says with what might be an embarrassed laugh.

The possibility that Chloe could be embarrassed around her strangely gives Beca a dose of much-needed confidence and she’s able to walk Chloe through her lesson plan with ease.

It takes just long enough that their food arrives and they mutually agree to not discuss work while they eat.

Beca learns that Chloe works as a receptionist in a veterinary clinic during the off-season, is from Florida (which explains her affinity for the beach), and has an older brother. Beca shares her lack of siblings, obsession with making playlists, and how despite growing up on the Pacific Ocean in Portland, she’s never been big on beaches.

“How can you not love the beach?!” Chloe screeches, personally offended. 

“There’s always sand in my stuff. Even stuff I don’t bring to work. There’s sand everywhere in my house! And it’s hot. And sunny; I burn so easily.”

“You’re not sunburned now.”

“That’s because I bathe in sunscreen and refuse to leave the safety of my umbrella unless I’m going on a rescue or a break.”

“Then I bet your skin is super soft.”

“I don’t know about that,” Beca says with a frown at her arms. “I just perpetually smell like SPF 70.” When she sees, then feels, Chloe’s fingertip run up her arm from wrist to elbow, her breath catches. “Oh.”

“Super soft,” Chloe confirms and Beca lifts her eyes to find herself being watched. “And I always think you smell nice. Neutrogena, right?” she adds and Beca feels the unexpected moment of tension break.

“Uh, yeah. It’s my favorite.”

Chloe smiles. “It’s a good one. Love a reliable spray-on that lasts.” She glances at something behind Beca and her smile falls. “It’s almost midnight.”

“What? No way,” Beca says, twisting to see the clock she assumes is behind her. “Oh, damn. I had no idea.”

“Where’d the time go?”

They both laugh and then Beca feels tension settle over them again. She thinks about what Stacie said, even insisted: that Chloe pays attention to Beca. She’s certainly paying attention to her now. Beca feels warm under her gaze which seems as soft as it does intense. And they’re still sitting so close. Chloe had begun the evening on the middle cushion and over the course of the hours Beca’s seemed to have lost, is a third of the way onto Beca’s cushion.

“I like you, Beca.”

Chloe’s voice is so unexpected that it makes Beca flinch.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to be weird,” she quickly adds, and Beca realizes her reaction to the sound has come across as her reaction to the words based on the look on Chloe’s face.

“No, no, it’s not weird,” Beca says, probably too emphatically.

“It’s not?”

“No, of course, it’s not. I like you, too.” She says it without thinking, out of a need to comfort her.

She watches Chloe tuck her hair behind her ear, a rare moment of bashfulness from the usually confident woman. “I mean I like you. As more than a friend.”

Beca now understands how she lost track of hours of time; she feels the very concept of it disappear.

“I really don’t want to make anything weird between us, and it’s totes okay if you just want to be friends. I just think about you all the time and I think you’re such a cool person and I think you deserve to know that.”

Beca can hear Stacie yelling at her: Make a move! She totally wants you! Take her to bed!

“I really like you, too.” There. She said it. All she can do is wait to see what happens next.

Apparently, what happens next is Chloe’s moment of bashfulness disappears to be replaced with such an air of sensuality Beca can almost taste it. “You do?” she says with a slow smile and a glance at Beca’s lips.

It makes Beca wet them on reflex, suddenly aware they’re dry and chapped from the windy day and that seems to make Chloe bite her own lip. Her palms are sweating and she knows she’s about five seconds from being kissed.

In past scenarios similar to this, Beca has done such idiotic things as jutting out her hand for a fist bump, hugging complete with a buddy clap to the back, sneezed, and literally stood up and ran away from the person. She still felt a little bad about that one; he’d been a nice guy and didn’t deserve her inability to communicate her feelings (or lack thereof).

Tonight, she runs out of time to make a dumb mistake and lets her eyes fall closed when Chloe’s lips touch hers.

It’s nice to not fuck it up right away.

It’s nicer when she stops thinking about not being dumb and actually registers the fact that Chloe has kissed her. She spent so much time being relieved that the kiss has already ended.

Chloe’s still close, and she’s looking at Beca with curiosity. “Was that okay?”

“Yeah,” Beca kind of croaks and clears her throat.

“Are you sure? Because you didn’t seem...into it. And that’s okay if you weren’t; I’m not trying to rush you into anything and I’m sorry if you didn’t want me to do that.”

“Shit.”

“What?”

Beca’s eyes go wide; she hadn’t meant to say that out loud. “No, nothing. It’s dumb.”

Chloe’s hand moves to rest over Beca’s. “It’s not dumb; you can tell me.”

“Trust me, it is,” Beca says with a roll of her eyes. “I was so focused on not doing something dumb that I did something dumb. Ironic.”

“What do you mean?” To her credit, Chloe seems unfazed by Beca’s failure to reciprocate.

Beca pushes her hair back and stares at the ceiling for a second. Then, “Usually, when someone tries to kiss me, I panic and do something dumb.”

“Like what?” Chloe says, a smile of amusement sneaking into her features.

“I once faked getting a phone call.”

“We’ve all pretended to be on our phones. That’s not so bad.”

“But it didn’t even ring. Or vibrate. It did ring when I was fake-talking on it. And there was the time I told someone I had diarrhea and had to go home. Jesus, why am I telling you this?” She frowns; she really doesn’t need to share her history of idiocy with others.

“Oh, no!” Chloe laughs. “I guess you really didn’t want to kiss that person.”

“No, I did not,” she says resolutely and Chloe seems even more amused.

“So just now, you did nothing.”

“Right.”

“Because…” Chloe prompts.

“Because I didn’t want to do something dumb.”

Chloe’s amusement has reached her eyes and they’re sparkling to an unfair degree. “And why is that?”

They’re hypnotizing, really. Beca can’t be held accountable for her words or actions. “Because I wanted you to kiss me.” She presses her lips together for their traitorous honesty.

Chloe hums. “Now that I know you might do something dumb, but that you want me to kiss you: can we try that again?”

Beca’s heart races. “You sure about that? I can’t promise I won’t feign sudden illness.”

“I don’t think you will, but I’m ready for anything,” Chloe says and Beca shivers at how lightly her hand is moving up her arm until it’s on Beca’s shoulder and just shy of touching her neck. She’s so close again, leaning in and Beca can feel her breath on her lips where she’s hovering, waiting for Beca’s go-ahead.

She nods.

Chloe’s lips are on hers in an instant and this time, there aren’t a dozen past scenarios running through her brain. It’s crystal clear and empty save for the way Chloe’s lips feel on her own and this time, she kisses her back.

Chloe makes a sound, Beca thinks it’s maybe one of relief, or maybe contentment, but whatever it is makes Beca not simply kiss her back but kiss her.

Her hand lifts to find Chloe’s face, to touch her cheek then the sharp line of her jaw until her fingers weave through windswept red curls to tilt Chloe just-so and tease her bottom lip with a touch of her tongue.

Chloe’s reaction is quick, a sharp exhale and a deep breath and then Chloe’s pulling her in, welcoming Beca into her mouth with her own tongue in such a way that it makes Beca whimper. She’s never been made to feel such things from a kiss before, like she’d give up oxygen in exchange for it to keep going forever.

It’s so warm and soft. Hands on cheeks and shy smiles as their lips meet again and again as their confidence grows and kisses grow more persistent and daring. More passionate.

She feels Chloe pressing closer, one hand behind Beca’s neck, the other somewhere along her waist, or hip, or ribs and Beca, running on instinct, pushes back. With a hand to Chloe’s shoulder, she pushes her away, turns her until she’s not twisted anymore, until she’s sitting back on the couch, and then Beca slips over her lap, knees settling against Chloe’s hips.

She hears Chloe moan and it makes her thighs flex. “Is this okay?” she breathes against Chloe’s lips as she brushes Chloe’s hair from her face and out of Beca’s way.

Hands squeeze her waist and pull her down to settle against Chloe’s lap and there’s a shakey, “Very,” as an answer before they’re kissing again.

It’s easier to lick into Chloe’s mouth from this angle. Easier for Chloe’s hands to slide up Beca’s back over her shirt. Easier for Beca to run her hands through Chloe’s hair when she moves her mouth from Beca’s lips to Beca’s neck.

She feels a mark being left and moans again. Chloe echoes it and it makes her twitch with need. Chloe’s hands drag down Beca’s back but they don’t stop at her waist. They move until they’re both on Beca’s ass and they squeeze, giving a less-than-subtle tug forward and Beca’s hips roll on instinct.

Her thin shorts do little to interfere with the friction that comes as a result and she grabs the back of the couch, suddenly lightheaded in the best possible way.

“Fuck, oh, my God,” she gasps, using the hand in Chloe’s hair to ease her mouth away from her skin.

Chloe, dark eyes and pink cheeks, smiles up at her and Beca has no choice but to lean down and kiss her, hard and deep, until she retreats with Chloe’s lip caught between her teeth to give it the lightest tug.

Beca smiles and sits back, relaxing after every muscle in her body tensing with need. “Wow, okay.”

“Just okay?” Chloe teases and her usual tight, chipper voice is uncharacteristically low and syrupy and Beca can’t quite fathom it’s because of her.

There’s another squeeze of her ass and she bites her lip. Her body is screaming at her, demanding release, but it’s way too soon to go that far. “What time is it?”

Chloe leans and Beca first ducks, then lifts her arm, to try to get out of the way. “Pushing 1:00.”

“Oh, shit,” Beca says with a burst of embarrassing giggles that make her cover her mouth. No wonder she’s wound up so tightly.

“Time flies when you’re having fun,” Chloe says with a waggle of her eyebrows. Her hands slide up to hold Beca’s waist and Beca can’t help but be a little disappointed even though she’s the one who’s slowed things down. “How’s your stomach?”

Beca tilts her head. “What?”

“Your stomach. No digestion issues? The restroom is just down the hall.”

It takes her a second, then she remembers her embarrassing confession. “Oh, my God, shut up.”

“No food poisoning?”

“Nope; I’m good.”

“Yeah, you are.” Chloe almost purrs the words and Beca feels like her spine is made of Jell-O. 

She almost melts into a puddle but catches herself, resting her forehead against Chloe’s. She runs her thumb along Chloe’s lip, watching her lips purse to kiss it, before leaning in to kiss her. “I should go,” she says begrudgingly when they part.

The puppy dog eyes and pout she gets in response should be illegal, but Chloe says, “Okay,” and doesn’t try to convince her to stay.

“I’ll see you tomorrow, yeah?” She doesn’t quite yet have the willpower to extract herself from Chloe’s lap, but she’s working up to it.

“Definitely.” Chloe’s hands leave her after one last squeeze to her waist and Beca’s finally able to slide backward off Chloe and onto unsteady legs. 

She tugs the legs of her shorts down from where they’ve ridden up and tries not to blush when she notices just how turned on she was. Is. “Okay. Um…” She looks around to find her phone, long forgotten on the table and her bag on the floor. She grabs them both. “So...yeah. I...had fun.”

Chloe smiles dreamily up at her. “Me, too.” If Beca didn’t know better, she’d think Chloe was drunk.

“So, yeah. I’m gonna go.” She hooks her thumb over her shoulder toward the door and expects Chloe to get up and walk her out but all she gets in response is a nod. She’s working on being confused and offended when she sees Chloe burst into a smile at her, then throw her head back to do what Beca can only classify as squealing.

“Weirdo,” Beca laughs as she pulls open Chloe’s front door.

“Thanks!” 

She steals one more look before stepping into the warm darkness.

She hopes Stacie is asleep when she gets home.

“You have a hickey!”

“Dude, how can you possibly see that from there?!” Beca’s hands fly to her throat; she doesn’t even know where it is or how big it is yet. Chloe’s lips spent a long time all over her neck.

“Oh, holy fuck, do you really?” Stacie tosses aside the Cosmopolitan magazine she’d been reading and gets off the couch.

“Wait, what?” Beca drops her bag by the door and in doing so, unmasks whatever mess her neck is in.

“I just wanted to see what you’d say.” Stacie flips the switch for the light just inside the door and grabs Beca’s chin to crane her neck around like a bobblehead. “Oh, shit, you do!”

There’s a flick of a finger against her neck and Beca twists and ducks under her arm to escape. “How bad is it?” she says as she makes her way through the mostly dark house to the bathroom.

“It’s awesome.”

Beca shoots her a look and then looks at herself in the mirror. She does have a hickey, deep purple and roughly the diameter of Chloe’s lips. If she’d realized it would be this obvious, she would have stopped her. Maybe. “Seriously?” she says as she rubs at it as if that will erase it.

“Tell me everything.”

Beca glances at Stacie, now leaning against the frame of the open bathroom door grinning like a Cheshire Cat. “Why do you always need to be up in my business?”

“Because you never have business for me to be up in. It’s fun when you do. Now, tell me.”

“Oh, my God. We made out, okay?” She gestures at her neck, “Obviously,” and then reaches for her foaming face wash to get ready for bed. 

“Was she good? I bet she’s so good. A snacc like that; she knows a thing or two.”

“Don’t talk about her like that.”

“Okay, I take it back. But you didn’t answer my question. Was she good?”

Beca takes a beat to rinse her face and looks at Stacie over the towel as she pats it dry. “You have no idea.”

Stacie shrieks and Beca finds herself in a hug, the towel the only thing from saving her from a faceful of Stacie’s boobs. “I told you she was into you! Didn’t I tell you?”

“Yes, Stace, you told me,” Beca says with a grunt as she frees herself. “Now get out; I have to pee.”

“I don’t care; you can pee in front of me.” Stacie leans against the counter, hip cocked like she has no intention of leaving.

Beca closes her eyes and takes a breath; she knows what she’s about to say will be used against her in the court of Stacie Conrad, but she has no choice. “Look, man. TMI, but I was just on top of her for like an hour and I need to,” she gestures downward, “tidy things up.”

“Oh, shit; she ruined the underwear? How long has it been for you?”

“That doesn’t matter! It’s a perfectly normal physical response to have. Now would you please get out?” 

“Wait, did you say you were on top?”

“Stacie!” She points at the door and her friend finally rolls her eyes.

“Fine. But don’t think this is over; we’re revisiting this event. And I’ll leave Buzz Lightyear on your bed. I know you need it tonight.” She pulls the door closed behind her.

“I still say it’s weird you named your vibrator after a Disney character!” She strips her shorts and underwear down and kicks them aside and sighs. “Thank you!”

“If this is you flirting, I don’t like it.”

Blaine huffed as he adjusted his hold on Kurt slightly, and continued walking towards his dorm room in the Dalton Headquarters.

“You’re not going on this mission, Kurt. I won’t let you die,” he said, quietly but resolutely. Kurt took a moment to reign in his fury, because Blaine did not just say that to him, before he responded.

“This is bullshit!” he complained, “What are you doing here anyway? I didn't expect you to be here tonight.”

“Oh, I wasn’t supposed to be here. But you know that, of course. I just happened to stay late yesterday to work a bit on my left hook, and I overheard Sebastian and Trent talking in the locker room while I was changing. See, Trent was telling Sebastian all about the idiot that had agreed to take on the Karofsky case, and how they were stupid enough to not only take it on, but take it on by themselves. Now, imagine my surprise when I heard that that idiot, was you.”

Kurt was silent, cursing Trent and his big mouth in his head.

“You idiot!” Blaine yelled at Kurt from across the room as he ran to catch up with him before he walked out the door.

Kurt turned, startled. “Blaine? What--”

“You’ve taken on the Karofsky case? Alone?” Blaine said, livid.

Kurt froze, but quickly composed himself and arched an eyebrow. “Don't sound so excited about it. And yeah, I did.”

“You do realize I’m not gonna let you go, right?”

“Is that so? I'm pretty sure that's not how it works. I’m pretty sure I’m the one that gets to pick my assignments, not you. And besides, you took that mission in Berlise all by yourself just four months ago.”

“That’s different, I am five years in, you’ve only been here for two.”

“And I’ve proven, over and over and over again, that I can keep up with the best of you. I can handle myself just fine, thank you very much.”

"That’s not what I meant! You're so stubborn!" Blaine said, running a frustrated hand through his curls. “You are not going, Kurt!” he said with finality.

“Blaine, nothing short of tying me up will stop me from going out there, okay?”

Blaine’s eyes hardened. “Well, okay then.”

“I’m not stupid. Just so you know. I know what I’m doing, I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t. So, this? This is insulting. Really, now.”

“Look, just. Don't fight me on this," Blaine pleaded, though he knew it was hopeless.

“Blaine, for the love of god, this is ridiculous. Untie me!" Kurt struggled against his restraints.

“Are you going to come to your senses and not go on this insane mission?”

“No.” Kurt struggled some more.

“Then, no. And quit moving around so much, you’re going to throw me off balance.”

Kurt stilled. “Put me down!”

“No.”

Kurt took a moment to assess the situation, asking himself what he would be doing if this were a case. He switched gears. “Do you realize for how long you’ve been carrying me? I mean. Wow. You're really strong." The admiration was genuine, but Blaine didn’t need to know that.

“Neither flattery nor any of the diversion tactics you’ve learned here will get you anywhere tonight, Hummel. You think I'm dumb enough to fall for that stupid move?” Blaine shook his head. “You know, I thought we were--friends,” he said haltingly.

"Friends don't tie friends up!"

“Friends also don’t hide the fact that they’re gonna be embarking on a suicide mission! God, you didn’t even say anything to me in the cafeteria. Were you just gonna up and leave without telling me? How long ago did you even take the assignment, how long have you been hiding this from me?”

Without realizing it, Blaine had picked up the pace in his anger. Kurt squirmed uncomfortably.

"Will you just--slow down. Please. We’re practically there anyway."

Blaine slowed down. He was kind of surprised none of the other agents had stopped them to see why Blaine was carrying Kurt over his shoulder. Or why Kurt was tied up.

When they reached the door to Blaine’s room, he reluctantly put Kurt down. He held his hand against Kurt’s neck, a silent warning for him to not try anything, while his other hand dug through his pocket for his access card.

“You know, you have some nerve!” Kurt exclaimed as Blaine pushed him in his room. “You have no right!”

“Excuse me?”

“Literally every other person in this building has more of a right to do this than you.”

Hurt flashed in Blaine’s eyes. “What are you talking about?”

“Did you forget that you did the exact same thing to me with the Berlise job? That I just woke up one day and you were gone?”

“I told you, it was literally last minute, Sam got hurt the night before--”

“Not even a note! Or a text! How much time would that have taken, Blaine? Or if writing was so damn difficult, even a fucking voicemail. You just disappeared.”

“So, what, this is some kind of payback? Are you really going to get yourself killed just to spite me, Kurt?”

Kurt’s lips turned into a thin line. His voice was cold when he spoke. “Unlike you, I’m not going in blind. I’ve read the Karofsky file so many times I’ve had it memorised, and I’ve also read every other file he’s mentioned in. I also asked around and found and read up on every single case, open or closed, where there’s suspected involvement of Karofsky’s organization. Unlike you, I don’t do things half-assed.”

Okay, that stung. “You are so fucking petty.”

“Damn right I’m pretty.”

“I said petty,” Blaine responded, shaking his head but suppressing a smile.

“Oh, I know. I’m just gonna pretend you said pretty so as not to take out my gun and pistol whip you across the face.”

Kurt was sincere in his threat, that much Blaine could see. He was also furious. Blaine was just a little bit too confused for this conversation to work in his favor. “Kurt, come on, are you really still hung up on the Berlise job? It’s been four months.”

As soon as the words left his mouth, he regretted them. Kurt gave him a look so furious, Blaine actually felt a twinge of genuine fear run down his spine.

"Am I just supposed to get over the fact that you died? Treat it as if it didn’t happen, which is what you’re obviously trying to do, considering you didn’t even bother to tell me about it. Would that be more convenient for you?"

Blaine froze. “What? How did you know about that?”

"You died! I saw you die! So don’t you dare imply that I’m being overdramatic, like I’m not supposed to get hung up on that."

Blaine could only repeat himself. “What?”

Kurt wouldn’t look at him. “I was part of the extraction team, Blaine. I was part of the team they sent to bail you out when everything expectedly went to shit, because of course it did, because you stupidly took over a mission the night before its launch without having done any prep beforehand.”

“You were there?” Blaine asked in a small voice.

“Yes,” Kurt confirmed grimly.

A beat of silence.

“I was only dead for, like, twenty seconds.”

Suddenly, Kurt was in front of him, having freed himself of his restraints. Blaine gave himself some credit that he was able to hold him for that long. Kurt pushed him, and Blaine’s back hit the back of his door. Kurt got right up to his face, their noses a hair width apart. They locked eyes.

“Do you know what it was like, sticking those stickers to your chest?” Kurt said in a low voice, his eyes hard, but glistening.

Blaine felt the air leave his lungs. “No. They told me--Santana.”

“Santana likes me more than you. And everyone else is too scared of her to say anything. But, yes, I… I was the one closest to you when you went down. I was the one that searched for a pulse and didn’t find one. I was the one who had to will my fingers not to shake as I tried to remember where to place those fucking stickers and what buttons to push on the defibrillator.”

Blaine swallowed hard. Kurt took a small step back.

“So. Now you know everything. And now--”

“No, I don’t. You’re still mad. There’s more.”

“No, there isn’t.”

“Kurt, come on.”

A beat of silence.

“I’m not mad at you, really.” Kurt exhaled loudly, and seemed to say ‘fuck it’ to himself before continuing, “It’s just… I had imagined what it would be like to undress you again very differently. Not in a filthy warehouse. Not while you were unconscious--while you were dead. I had imagined countless different scenarios about how and when we’d finally stop playing this game of cat and mouse. Who would cave first and come to the other’s room. Neither of us drunk the second time, hopefully. You took that from me, Blaine. From us. And I’m not mad, but -- maybe that’s what you’re reading on my face right now.”

Blaine stood perfectly still, trying unsuccessfully to breathe normally. Kurt continued.

“But maybe that’s a sign. A sign that this, whatever it was, is over.” Kurt breathed in deeply, “Closure sure is something. So, if you could kindly step aside, now. I have somewhere I need to be.”

Blaine stood silently, watching Kurt, watching the tears that still hadn’t left his eyes, willing the tears to disappear from his own, processing everything that had happened in the past two minutes.

“Blaine.” Kurt sighed. “Seriously now. Don’t be nervous. I wasn’t joking when I said I’ve done a lot of prep. More prep than I’ve ever done for a case in my life. There's nothing to fear. I’m not taking this case lightly, and I’m not doing this to spite you.”

Kurt sniffled. Blaine silently handed him his handkerchief. Kurt took it gratefully and smiled tentatively before bringing it up to his nose.

“I’m sorry,” Blaine said.

Kurt barely had time to look confused before Blaine’s hand was over his, effectively locking his handkerchief over his nose, and barely had time to realize what was happening before everything went black.

He woke up in Blaine’s bed. When the previous day’s memories came back to him, he groaned. Within seconds he felt the bed dip beside him.

“You’re an asshole,” he croaked. He turned his head towards Blaine, and found him smiling. “Such an asshole.”

Blaine just smiled wider. Kurt looked away.

"Fuck you! Or me. I’m not sure. I’m not sure which is up and which is down right now," he said, bringing a hand up to his head. That caused Blaine to stop smiling.

"You're okay, right? Not hurt or anything?"

“Just a headache. You asshole. Now. Help me up.” He extended his hand.

“No,” Blaine said, shaking his head lightly. “Stay in bed. It’s super early.”

Kurt let his head hang down. "Ugh.” His eyes peered up at Blaine. “You annoy the fuck outa me. In case you didn’t know."

"Sh. Go back to sleep."

Kurt quirked his lips up. “No.”

Blaine sighed, trying to look put out, but failing. He didn’t mind, letting the smile spread over his face easily. Kurt’s eyes wandered around the room. “Where did you sleep?” he asked.

“I didn’t.”

Blaine seemed to be contemplating something, and Kurt waited, watching him, watching as his smile slowly faded into a frown.

"You know the worst part? I thought I had nothing to lose."

Kurt was definitely awake now. “What?” he said, sitting up abruptly and almost falling forward before Blaine’s strong arms wrapped around him and straightened him up.

"Steady now. Are you sure you’re okay?"

Kurt ignored the attempt at a switch in the subject. “What do you mean by that?”

Blaine sighed. “When I left. The Berlise job. I could have turned it down.”

“And why didn’t you?”

“I...I had convinced myself that you didn’t want me like I wanted you. Everyone flirts with everyone around here, all the time. You’d flirt back when I flirted with you, but you’d almost never initiate anything, and you’d always have a witty response for everyone else, too.

“Those first few months after you came here? I wanted to kill Jeff, even though I know he’s been with Nick for years and that he flirts with anything that moves, but I’d see you talking, and he’d make you blush and I would have to fight the urge to sneak up behind him and snap his neck. I couldn’t handle it anymore. I couldn’t handle having to stop myself from touching you and kissing you every time we were in the same room together.

“I felt trapped. Trapped in and by my feelings for you. We’d spend so much time together, and I kept trying to convince my heart that I was making it all up in my head, that your eyes never lingered on me, that your blushes were the same for me as for anybody else, that all you felt for me was friendship. It got to be so bad that I was afraid it would start affecting my work and endanger my place here. So I just--I said yes, just to have something else to focus on, and maybe get the thought of you out of my mind. A stupid decision, really. If it makes you feel any better, it didn’t work.”

They were both breathing heavily after Blaine finished his speech.

“So, what now?”

Blaine looked him over. His expression was so soft it broke Kurt’s heart just a little bit. Blaine reached a hand out and brushed a few strands of hair that had fallen on Kurt’s forehead back.

“Your hair is so soft,” he marvelled.

“Oh no.” Kurt moaned, ducking his head in a futile effort to hide his blush. “That is way too cheesy for this early in the morning.”

Blaine bent down to meet Kurt’s eyes. “Hey. Don’t hide your face. I like your face.” He used a finger to lift Kurt’s jaw.

They both stared at each other in silence. Eyes fell to lips, then rushed back up. Slowly, then both leaned in. They met in the middle.

Blaine’s hands came up to cradle Kurt’s face. Kurt’s hands fisted Blaine’s shirt and pulled him forward. The need for air caused them to eventually pull away.

“You take my breath away,” Kurt said, barely more than a whisper.

“I love you.”

“I love you, too,” Kurt said, smiling a little. “But…”

“What? No, no buts, no buts allowed.” Blaine swept forward and kissed the corner of Kurt’s mouth where it had started to turn downwards.

“Blaine. I’m not sure if this can work.”

“Don’t say that, why would you say that?”

“Blaine? I’m really sorry, but I can’t just not take a mission just because you think it’s too dangerous. Every mission is dangerous, you know that. And I love it here, I love what I do--what we do. I don’t think I could give it up.”

“Kurt, I would never ask you to give this up. I’m not gonna say that I won’t be worried every time you’re out there, and I probably won’t be pleasant company until I have you safe, here, and back in my arms, but I know how competent you are. It’s just this particular mission. Something doesn’t feel right, and I trust my instincts. The two previous agents that took it on died while working on it. I think there may be a mole.”

Kurt looked pensive.

“I still have to try, Blaine.”

“But you don’t have to try alone. We could…you know, go together if you wanted.”

“Together?” Kurt asked, worrying his lip between his teeth.

“Together.”

“Okay,” he said and smiled. Blaine grinned in response.

“Quit smiling at me,” Kurt said, and shook Blaine by the shoulders.

"Make me."

Kurt smirked and, in one swift move, flipped them over. He pecked Blaine on the lips.

“I’m still smiling,” Blaine teased.

Kurt rolled his eyes fondly before leaning down and sealing their lips together once more.

I have mixed feelings about Omniverse. There were some things I liked about the series and some things I really, really did not like. Overall, I have to say that my opinion of the series is split 30/70 with the 70% being negative. So, for the most part, I didn't like it. But first let me discuss the things I DID like.

We got a stable Plumbers Headquarters in Bellwood and more regular Plumbers characters.

The Plumbers always stuck me sort of as the Green Lantern Corps., and just like with the Lanterns, the Corps. Comics are way better than the Green Lantern comics. Why? Because its about the whole Corps. The whole organization, not just a circle jerk for Hal Jordan (or whoever the Lantern for sector 2814 happens to be at the time). And that was what was nice about expanding the cast of Plumbers. We got to see a whole Corps of Plumbers, not just third-tier 'Plumbers Helpers' or single-episode cameos to remind us that other Plumbers existed. We had regular characters with names and backstories -many of whom weren't even from Earth. It was a good attempt at world building, and in a show that is constantly claiming to be about “experiencing what its like to be another species” or “learning how differences make us strong”, that's something that's very important. Because, as we all know (should know) UNLIKE Green Lantern Corps. (Blackest Night story arc) the Earth isn't actually the center of the universe. (Neither is Ben for that matter, although you wouldn't know it from watching the series.)

Gwen goes to collage and she and Kevin get away from Ben for a while.

For pretty much all their lives, both Gwen and Kevin's lives have revolved around Ben Mother-Fucking Tennyson. Gwen because they were raised more like siblings than cousins, she was pulled into all his absurd alien adventures -literally- from the moment they started, Ben is incapable of doing anything without her and when she does get out, he pulls her back in again -remember, it was Ben that went to Gwen at the beginning of Alien Force. If he hand't asked her for help, she might not have been a main character in the second series. And Kevin became obsessed with Ben when he was only eleven years old. When he was still in his formative years. Over the course of Alien Force and Ultimate Alien that obsession and thirst for revenge morphed and shifted into an uncomfortably dependent friendship. Seriously. Ben is Kevin's ONLY male friend Kevin has that's an actual friend, not a 'business partner' or 'tech-buddy'. Its good that Gwen went to collage and Kevin followed her, so that they could both get some time away from Ben to grow as individuals. Sure, we the audience didn't get to see any of that individual growth and development because the series was too busy being a circle-jerk for Ben. But then, I've come to expect that from this franchise.

Prince Looma and Tetramand marital practices (“Many Happy Returns”)

Same as with the additional Plumbers characters, this was a good way to add some easy world building. They took an existing alien species that the viewers are very familiar with and gave us a glimpse of their culture. It was mostly played for laughs, but I think it was one of the better episodes (and not just because it was also a mostly Kevin-centric episode). In one episode alone, we learn how Tetramand ask for/arrange their matches, engagement ceremony, length and traditions, how engagements are broken off, and even a little bit about the marriage ceremony itself. To someone who knows how to pay attention it was like a cascade of culture building, world building, and general information that expanded the world of Ben 10.

Rook -Kevin and Gwen in one person.

When they took Gwen and Kevin away, they had to replace them somehow, because -as the franchise has consistently proven- while the whole thing might be one giant Ben-wank, Ben Tennyson is also utterly and completely incapable of doing anything on his own. He needs a sidekick -usually one who's smarter and more skilled (read: more useful) than Ben himself, and doesn't mind playing second fiddle to the spotlight hogging, ego-driven, narcissist Hero of the Universe. Rook does that wonderfully while also making sarcastic quips that go over Ben's (and his fans in fandom's heads). Also, adding another species -and more importantly, showing us his home planet, family, and how his people live- was more great world building.

Basically, what I liked about Omniverse was all the wold building they tried to do.

Now, the things I didn't like...

I'll start small and shallow:

The dramatic change in artwork.

Where do I begin? First and foremost its inconsistent with the rest of the franchise up to that point. Ben 10 TOS, Alien Force, and Ultimate Alien were all drawn/animated in the same style. Something similar to the Young Justice cartoon style, proportionate bodies with realistic facial features (realistic for a cartoon). That style worked for an adventure series. It was good. But then Omniverse rolls around and suddenly everyone's got giant eyes that take up half their faces, but they're not cute anime eyes, they're weird cat-like eyes. Their body proportions are all weird so that some characters are 60% legs, or their arms are so long their hands are at their knees. Max doesn't have facial expressions anymore, Ben looks like he's ten years old again, Kevin's chin is so long they have to give him a giraffe neck to compensate... All of the familiar characters look mutated and gross. I almost wanna say Omniverse was the worst artwork decision they could have made for the franchise, but then, I've seen the new reboot and that one's even worse.

The whole series is just one big Ben circle-jerk.

Remember all those new Plumbers characters I was so happy about? We can't have a single episode about them that doesn't involve Ben. Either Ben having to rescue then while Grandpa Max vomits a small novella of exposition, or Ben trying to investigate their past for X, Y, Z reason, or them driving around Bellwood while Ben has seemingly endless battles around them that inevitably block their path, or Ben tagging along while they visit their home planet. There is no way to develop a single new character in the show without Ben having to be involved in some way. Look. I get it. The franchise is called “Ben 10”, so obviously its about Ben. But ya know what? Avatar is also called “Avatar” and they manage to have multiple episodes about other characters that don't even involve the Avatar at all. Believe it or not, it is possible to make Wester cartoons with a wide cast of characters, AND develop said characters without the title character having to stick his nose in every time someone farts.

They somehow made Ben 10 a harem anime.

Now, I like a good harem as much as the next sexually repressed and asocial nerd. Goodness knows Martian Successor Nadeshico has a permanent spot on my list of Top Ten Anime I Recommend to Everyone. But is just seemed kinda weird... Ultimate Alien ended with Ben and Julie seeming really solid. Then at the beginning of Omniverse, they're not even together anymore. Now, Word of God is that Kenny's mother is Kai, so obviously Ben and Julie couldn't be together forever. At some point they had to break up and Ben had to get with Kai. But Omniverse did not handle the inevitable facts of canon well. There was no real mention of reasons why Ben and Julie were no longer together when they seemed so solid at the send of the previous series, then, all of a sudden, Ben had a million and one women wanting to bone him. Looma, Ester, Lucy, (even his cousin Sonny in one episode and that was creepy), and yes, still Julie and Kai. And, like most protagonists in harem anime, Ben does absolutely nothing to deserve all this adulation from the distaff gender. Its very frustrating.

Kai Green -I like the IDEA of Kai, but I actually hate the CHARACTER Kai.

I really like the idea of Kai. I really do. I like a strong, independent, female, well educated, Native American character. To often in fiction Native characters are portrayed as “magical” in some way. Either as sages or spiritual guides, shapeshifters, mediums, or healers. Its very rare to find a Native American characters who's just a normal, down-to-Earth person with hopes and dreams, anxieties and fears, plans and aspirations, etc. Kai is none of the cliché tropes that Native characters are pigeon-holed  into. This is best illustrated by an exchange of dialogue between her and Ben when he comments on her hand-to-hand combat skills and asks if its some “ancient Navajo” fighting technique, and she scoffs at him and says she took after school classes at the mall -like any normal teenager would! Kai is a real person, she's not just a conglomeration of stereotypes and tropes. I really like the idea of Kai. I really do. That being said... THE WRITERS SEEMED TO HAVE DONE EVERYTHING IN THIER POWER TO MAKE KAI UTTERLY AND COMPLETELY UNLIKABLE! (Yes, I did have to shout that in all caps.) I like the idea of Kai, but Kai herself is condescending, and an intellectual snob. I don't like Ben, but there's one episode where he's at a museum (seeing an exhibit that Kai put on) and he makes a comment along the lines of “I didn't know aliens had old stuff!” and Kai responds to him like he's the dumbest piece of shit to ever crawl out of the public school system -and she does this in front of a crowd of his peers and strangers. Lets step out of the cartoon for a moment and look at it with some perspective. How would you feel if you've part of a tour group and someone in the group (you may or may not know) asks a silly question. What would you think if the tour guide responded with something like “How far up your ass did you have to stick your head to find that question, dumbass?” You'd think they were a terrible tour guide and should be fired, right? That's what Kai did to Ben. And that wasn't even the first time she showed a clear disrespect for Ben either. In the original series, she says she only like Ben when he was Benwolf (later renamed Blitzwolfer in Omniverse) because she wanted a “pet dog” that she could “train”. That's kinda understandable and excusable because she was ten at the time and kids are amoral assholes who don't know any better. But Omniverse is six years later, Kai is sixteen and she hasn't improved with age, she's become more of a bitch. I really don't understand why the show insisted on shoving them together and insisting that they both love each other and are happy together in the future. When we see her in the future, she's always with Ben 10,000 but she's still making disparaging comments about him or his arch enemies and Ben just smiles and cuddles and kisses her.

Kevin. Everything Omniverse did to, and took away from Kevin.

This should be a post unto itself. Anyone who reads my fan fictions will know that Kevin is my favorite character. So, of course the thing I'm gonna feel most strongly about is going to have something to do with Kevin Ethan Levin. So, sit down prepare yourself for a wall-o-text.

Osmosian. Look, I get that in the original series the PLAN was for Kevin to be a mutant and NOT an alien. But then Alien Force and Ultimate Alien changed that. They established that Osmosians were aliens. They established this so solidly that Omnivers' attempts to ret-con Kevin back to being a mutant makes no sense. Take a moment to seriously think about just how large that conspiracy has to be in order for “Osmosian” the alien species to really be a mutated Earthling. Max, Kevin's, and Kevin's mother's memories were altered, Aggregor is an experiment to replicate Kevin's powers, Ragnarok was really a Rooters agent, the Osmos System is an uninhabited system that Servantis altered the records of in order to supply a “home planet” for his fake species. And all of this was done without the Magistrata or any other high-level Plumbers stumbling across the conspiracy or finding out. Its just so far fetched. Its to much of a stretch for it to be a legitimate explanation -and yet, its canon. What it is, is absurd. This is not good story telling.

It makes the world smaller. Remember way up at the top of this post when I was listing the things I liked about Omniverse and most of it was me just gushing over the world building? Well, the Rooters story arc and subsequent ret-cons are the exact opposite of that. Its not 'wolf building' its 'world shrinking'. By making Kevin a mutant Earthling instead of an alien-human hybrid, they robbed the Ben 10 universe of a planet, a species, and possibly a culture to explore. If they really wanted to make Kevin a villain again so much, they could have had a story arc ret-conning Devin instead. Make Devin an Osmosian double agent who was supposed to infiltrate the Plumbers because Osmosians could be aggressive and warlike aliens (seeing how Kevin's so naturally obsessed with revenge, and Aggregor was determined to attain the power of a god, I think that's a plausible assumption). But, Devin accidentally fell in love with an Earthling -Kevin's mother- and quit his mission. The story arch could have been Devin's old war-buddies coming to enlist Kevin to finish the mission his father couldn't. Kevin might go along with them as a way to get to know what kind of man his father really was. They could play it the same way they did in the Rooters story arc and have him just pretending to join the baddies in order infiltrate them and help Ben defeat them and save Earth. Or they could make him OD on energy and go crazy and become a legit villain again. Either way, keep Osmosians as aliens would have been a better story than making them mutant Earthlings AND it would have been another great opportunity for more world building.

Ret-conning Kevin's backstory was cruel. Kevin has almost no positive male role-models. Thing about it. Think about his life. When Kevin was young, his male role-model was his step-father, an average human with nothing special or noteworthy about him EXCEPT THAT HE WAS TERRFIED OF HIS STEP-SON. Think about that. Kevin's first male role-model was afraid of him. How positive an influence could Harvey have been if he was scared shitless of an eleven-year-old child? Then Kevin was trapped in the Null Void and sent to prison where he met Kwarrel. Now, Kwarrel was shown to be a fairly decent guy. But lets also keep in mind that he is in an maximum security prison within the Null Void, so he must have done something pretty bad to be sentenced there. Also, keep in mind that we only got to see a few short flashbacks of Kwarrel and they were all through Kevin's point of view -usually of Kwarrel mentoring him. But we also know that Kwarrel was “top dog” in the prison. The only way to stay that was in jail is to rule through strength and intimidation. We saw Kwarrel being all nobel and empathetic, but that doesn't mean he wasn't also sometimes aggressive, violent, or even cruel to the other inmates. Omniverse gave Kevin NOTHER super-shitty role-model in Proctor Servantis. Amoral, self-serving, uses children as experiments and puppets, fucks with people's minds, and devotes his entire life to destroying one single human boy. The only truly positive male role-models Kevin has in his life are Max Tennyson and the memory of Devin Levin -except Omniverse made it so that Devin never actually existed. That was just downright cruel.

So, that's what I think about Omniverse.

Favorite Films of 2016

10.) Elle

Elle manages to be juicy diabolical fun while also containing some of the most challenging feminist politics I’ve seen in a film. To this day I still occasionally find myself questioning if the title character is a soulless sociopath or a feminist trailblazer.

 9.) The Handmaiden

There were a lot of three-hour epics released this year, but unlike most of them, The Handmaiden breezed by with a thrilling pace that kept me glued to the screen. While at first it seems like a Korean take on Pride & Prejudice, it doesn’t take long before Park Chan Wook’s signature taste for the perverse bubbles to the surface and the movie takes not one but several twists and turns that I never saw coming. Darkly comical, gorgeously shot, and downright nasty, I ate up every minute of it.

 8.) The Love Witch

As if Elle’s challenging feminism wasn’t enough for one year, The Love Witch is stuffed to the brim with thought-provoking notions of feminism, romance, and gender-roles, and it all comes wrapped in a campy cheese-pop packaging that harkens back to exploitation films of the late 60s/early 70s with uncanny detail. Great for intellectual discussion or for just getting wine-drunk and laughing hysterically, it’s a film that lets you have your colorful cake and/OR just eat it too! 

 7.) Ghostbusters

While not as successful as it deserved to be at the box office, Ghostbusters was one of the few films of the year that seemed determined to just give people a rollicking good time. It’s one of those films where the (stellar) cast in it are clearly having so much fun making it that you can’t help but resist their infectiously giddy vibes. For all the blockbusters of the summer, this was the only one that felt like it actually reached for and achieved the heights of a bona-fide summer blockbuster. I had a blast watching (and re-watching) it.

 6.) 10 Cloverfield Lane

A surprise from out of left field, 10 Cloverfield Lane was easily one of 2016’s most thrilling films. While a lot of people are split on its ending, I admired its determination to just completely go all the fucking way (which nowadays seems almost against the norm of all the bleak or ambiguous endings most people are going for). John Goodman was snubbed for awards this year, and it was great to finally see Mary Elizabeth Winstead in a worthy role. I look forward to more installments in this unique franchise universe.

 5.) The Witch

Typing this list is making me realize what a great year 2016 was for feminist cinema, and The Witch only adds to the batch. While it does contain some of the scariest and most unsettling scenes of 2016, it knows what makes a horror film great and achieves it—if you stripped it of all its scary scenes, it would still be one hell of a gripping and thought-provoking drama about paranoia and the nature of evil.

 4.) Toni Erdmann

Toni Erdmann is one of those films that really lingers—its emotional impact only becoming stronger and stronger after you’ve already left the theatre. It is at once an intimate story of an estranged father-daughter relationship, but also an epic portrait of universal themes—our human nature, our self-seriousness, and the different ways different people choose to live their lives. While its scale at first seems small, the use of The Cure’s “Plainsong” as its end-credits song really hammers home just how grand its achievements are.

 3.) The Neon Demon

Cast me out to sea for this one—I love The Neon Demon. Like Spring Breakers, I didn’t know what to think of it at first and later only found it more watchable and enjoyable with repeated viewings. Also like Spring Breakers, its one of those movies that completely indulges in and has a blast with the very subject-matter its satirizing. Is the story deep? No. Is the message ground-breaking? Far from it. Do I want to turn it on, lose myself in its hypnotic imagery, and laugh at its sassy-bitchy sense of humor, especially after a night of drinking? You bet your sweet ass I do. It has a lot of symbolic imagery you can put together like a puzzle in your head which is fun and all and gives it the excuse to be called art, but the movie is mostly like Juicy Fruit gum to me—it doesn’t deeply fulfill or linger for very long, but in its limited capacity, goddamn it tastes good!

 2.) La La Land

Thank god this movie didn’t win the Oscar for Best Picture because it truly is great and now people can go back to enjoying it. I think La La Land was and always has been a film with the best of intentions that got a rather unfair narrative attached to it in (understandable) response to a problematic year of race-tensions in America. The film itself is a beautiful burst of human spirit. I practically tear up with joy when I watch all those different colored bodies singing and dancing in unison atop that L.A. traffic jam. It’s also a moving meditation on nostalgia and the extent to which we can wallow in the past before we have to move forward and make change. And yes, it’s a love letter to so many Hollywood musicals of the past, but it also moves forward from those films’ happy Hollywood endings and gives us something more truthful and bittersweet, thereby making itself a modern Hollywood classic in its own right.

 1.)  Moonlight

Oh baby. Moonlight rocked my damn world. No other film of 2016 took me on such an up/down, back-and-forth ride of smiling, crying my eyes out, feeling elated, and then doing it all over again. Technically speaking it’s flawless. The cinematography, the score, the performances—everything goes above and beyond the call of duty to create a film that feels breathlessly intimate and real. There’s not a single scene that doesn’t belong. I’ve also never seen gay tension (especially that beach scene) so accurately and beautifully portrayed on screen. What’s even more astounding than the technicalities of the film is what it achieves in the grand scheme of things: Moonlight takes a demographic that has been known to be the most homophobic—that of the hard thug black man (how many rap songs can you think of that have featured a “faggot”-diss?)—and intersects it with a tender homosexual love story. In fact, it’s more than just a love-story, it’s a story of male vulnerability (something that we certainly never see in the world of the street-wise money-stacking thug). By doing this, Moonlight conveys a message that is nothing short of universal—the very human need to feel loved and accepted, and how only we can choose who we want to be and how we live our lives. And speaking of “faggot,” I’m head-over-heels in love with the film’s handling of the term. When the movie was over I literally melted out of my chair. Then once outside of the theatre I literally jumped for joy because I was so happy it existed. I still am so so grateful for this film. It’s a masterpiece in every sense of the word.
