Hi all! You ever feel knocked down no matter how hard you try?? Yeah... I've been away for a while (again) but I always tend to come back whenever I feel down for the count to check in with all you awesome cuties and get some good vibes. It's been a really rough time lately for me, and maybe for some of you all too... The Lizard

Today I stepped on a lizard.

I didn't feel it under my gigantic boots.

My friend, next to me, pointed it out.

When I looked down, I could see it: Small, fragile. Sprawled on the ground. Dead. A small bit of red staining the brick floor, what must have been its brains.

How fragile life is, I thought to myself, remembering all the little lizards I've seen before. Sprinting effortlessly in-between my feet, dodging any and all danger in sight.

Even fast little lizards can't live forever, I suppose.

The Lizard was so small. I didn't feel it under my gigantic boots.

It lived a small life, and it died a small death. But I shouldn't be sad.

Its death will be as glorious as its life.

Like a whale-fall in the deep ocean, it too, will sustain the life around it. Its body, helpless to the hungry mouths around it, will feed the living.

Small birds, small ants, and even teeny-tiny microbes. They will feast. And they will live. And they will die.

And their bodies will turn into food for others, restarting the beautiful cycle of life and death.

So I won't be sad.

Nature will move on.
