I haven't seen it yet but I've thought about it some times: Eddie (with plus size reader, bc I'm a big girl and I'd really just love to picture myself with him more clearly) where reader tells him she's pregnant (after they're both finished with HS some time), Eddie being a super supportive boyfriend during the pregnancy, all excited, even reads magazines and articles and books about it all and just being super happy and crying when the baby is born 🥺 and always so supportive and reassuring when reader has intense body image issues especially after giving birth. I would LOVE it if you're willing to write something like that 💛
He seems to be such a big softie and I imagine that he'd be an amazing father. Teaching his kids to play the guitar or literally any instrument, jamming out with them playfully to Metallica, draping his Dio vest around them and all that. Ugh. My heart. 😭🥺 sure he'd be scared to become like his own father but deep down we all know that will never happen and reader would always reassure him that he's doing a splendid job at being a dad 💛

You weren’t stupid.
You were a lot of things, but stupid wasn’t one of them. So when you started throwing up in the mornings, starting feeling nauseous, and experienced way too many emotions all at once, you knew something was up. That and the fact that your period was late….for the second month in a row. The first month you were willing to chalk up to stress; you were months away from finishing college and the reality that life was going to change again was enough to make you worry. But two months was worrisome. It hadn’t happened before. Shit.
It was the early ‘90s and while science had come a long way, part of you still didn’t want to believe the results on the little plastic stick in your hand. Maybe it was a false positive…but no. That combined with everything told you that it definitely wasn’t false.
“Shit,” you tossed the small plastic stick into the sink with a groan. You studied your reflection and shook your head at your teary eyed mirror self. Well. At least you had beaten teen pregnancy, although not by much. And at least you were almost finished with college - you wouldn’t be super far along by the time you were. And then you could have your baby and eventually find a job and then it would - stop. You were getting way too ahead of yourself. You didn’t even positively know you were pregnant. Not until you went to the doctor. And then there were still other options.
Fuck.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
“Hey space cadet,” Eddie laughed lightly as he waved his hand in front of your face, “you with me?”
“Huh?” you blinked a few times to get rid of the bleariness from your eyes before turning your attention to him. You were sitting on the couch, watching a movie after dinner. Well, he was watching, and you were panicking. But Eddie knew something was up; you weren’t curled into his side as you normally would be. You were on the other side and hunched into yourself with a blanket expression on your face, “y-yeah. ‘s all fine, love.”
“What’s wrong?” he wasn’t buying it in the slightest, “babe.”
“Nothing.”
“You can tell me anything, you know that.”
“I’m fine.”
“Why are you lying to me?”
“It’s not-”
“You are too!”
“I’m pregnant,” those two little words, ones with enormous weight behind them, spilled from your lips before you could think about it. Eddie recoiled from how he’d been leaning towards you, his eyes narrowing in confusion, “I-I think. I, umm…I took a test today and it was positive.”
“Pregnant,” he repeated as you slowly nodded, eyes welling up with fresh tears, “wow.”
“Eddie, I’m so sorry,” it was instinctive to deflect and apologize, despite the fact that you weren’t at fault, “I didn’t mean to…the condom must have broken or something.”
“Angel, why are you apologizing?”
“B-because?” he reached over and gently brushed away the tears that had fallen from your eyes, “I’m the one that’s pregnant. It’s my fault.”
“Absolutely not,” he took your chin in his and turned your face to his, “last time I checked it takes two for you to get pregnant. So, you know, that’s at least half my fault, but nobody’s at fault. It’s alright, sweetheart. We’ll figure it out.”
“Eddie,” you pulled his hand and huffed, “this is a baby we’re talking about, not just a decision like what we want for dinner or what concert we’re going to next. This is a huge thing. Like…whatever we do will change our lives forever.”
“I know,” he put his hands on your thighs and urged you closer to his warm frame. You hesitated for a moment before relaxing and shuffling over so he could pull you into his lap. A singular look into his big, soft brown eyes had you crying you again, tears running down your cheeks as you tried to stifle your cries. Eddie made a small sound before he wrapped his arms tightly around you as you buried your face into his chest, “I know, babe. Let it all out, it’s okay. It’s going to be okay.”
“How?” it was a muffled whimper against his neck.
“Because we’ve got each other,” a kiss was pressed to the side of your head, “and whatever you want to do, you’ll always have my full support. But look at this way - you’re just about done with school and I know you, my smart girl, will make it happen no matter what. I’ve got a decent job and with that and gigs we’re okay on money. We have our own place and we can turn the extra office and practice room into a nursery.”
“Eddie,” you turned and looked at him with a small, teary smile, “why do you always know what to say?”
“‘Cause I’m your boyfriend, duh,” he pressed a kiss to your lips, not minding the salty taste of your tears, “and I love you. Always.”
“What if I…what if I want to have an abortion?” you asked and his expression didn’t falter.
“Then that’s what you’ll do,” he stated simply, “it’s your body, your choice. I’ll be with you no matter what. And if you decide we want to wait to have little nuggets until way later that’s cool too.”
“Stop being so wonderful,” he took your face tenderly in his face before resting his forehead against yours. You knew - you’d always known - that he was the only man that you could ever imagine loving so fully and deeply, “I love you, Eddie.”
“I love you,” it was a soft whisper, barely audible but it still warmed your whole body, “we’ll figure this out, I swear.”
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
“Quit staring weirdo,” you hadn’t even checked to see if he was looking, but you could feel his intense stare on you regardless. You turned out of the closet and found him leaning against the doorframe, a cheeky smile on his face, arms crossed over his chest, “Eds.”
“Can’t help it,” he grinned, “you’re so beautiful.”
“Ugh,” you teasingly groaned, “such a sap. I don’t feel so beautiful right now…more like a giant beach ball.”
It was about halfway through your pregnancy and you were definitely feeling very pregnant these days. You’d started to show but it was like overnight you had grown a much larger bump which caused you to spiral. Suddenly it all seemed so overwhelming; you were going to have a small human to take care of, you still needed to finish the nursery, and you hadn’t even thought about getting a job after having the baby and none of your pants fit right and it was everything all at once. But all your worries and fears had subsided as soon as Eddie had wrapped you up in his arms and promised that everything would work out.
“Well, you are a beautiful beach ball,” he snorted in amusement as you glowered at him. He held up his hands in mock surrender before coming over to and pressing a kiss to your cheek, “I’m kidding, babe. You’re even more beautiful than the day we met, and now you’re growing our kid? That’s pretty fucking metal and makes you that much more beautiful.”
“This kid’s already got you wrapped around their little finger, don’t they?” he grinned and took your hand, giving it a gentle squeeze before bringing it to his lips to press a kiss to your knuckles.
“Yeah,” he confirmed, “and their mom does too. Babe, did you know that the baby’s like the size of an ear of corn now?”
“Corn?” you grinned and he nodded eagerly, his curls bouncing roguishly, “that’s interesting. Let’s hope it comes out as a human and not a vegetable…or fruit. How did you know that?”
“You’re the one doing the hard work so I figured I gotta pull my pre-dad weight and do the behind the scenes stuff!” oh. You were absolutely and wholly in love with this man. Tears welled up in your eyes and pearled down your cheeks, causing you to sniffle, "oh no, sweetheart. I-I'm sorry I didn't mean to make you cry. Was it something I said? Did?"
“N-no,” you shook your head and clung onto him tighter, “I mean yes…but no. ‘m just all sorts of emotional these days. You are just so…wonderful. I love you so much.”
“Oh,” his cheeks flushed a pretty pastel pink as you peppered kisses all over his face, “I love you. I just…I want to support you every way I can, you know? You’re the one doing the hardest work of all and I feel like I’m here doing nothing.”
“You’re so wrong, Eddie Munson,” you took his face in your hands and looked at him with the softest look on your face, “you’ve been so good to me this whole time; you’ve been there for me through everything. You’ve taken care of me and looked up and done so many things to make this whole pregnancy better. I don’t think I could have survived it without you. You’re going to be a great dad, Eds. You already are.”
“I’m going to try,” he promised, “I’m going to give this baby everything I never had. I want them to have all the love in the world. You and the baby.”
“I already do,” it was a soft promise that caused his heart to feel like it was full to bursting, “and so do they. You know, if I had to choose anyone in the world to be my baby daddy, I’m glad it turned out to be you.”
“Baby daddy?” dark brows rose in amusement and almost disappeared into his hairline.
“Yeah,” you answered simply as you turned back to the closet in a desperate attempt to find something decent and comfortable to wear, “we’re not married so you’re my baby daddy.”
“Not married yet.”
“Oh? You gonna marry me, Munson?”
“Duh, baby,” his smile was so large that it seemed magical, “I’ve been planning that since the day I met you.”
“You’re a real romantic, you know that?”
‘Only for you,” he wrapped his arms around you from behind, resting a hand on your belly, “and for the nugget.”
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
You had been right of course. Eddie had been smitten with your son from the moment he was born and he’d first held him in his arms.
Jamie ended up being a little mini-me version of his father with those same big brown doe eyes and unruly brown curls. There was no denying that it was his son; not that he would ever want that. He was obsessed with his son, just as he was with you. The best things to ever happen he often claimed. You felt the same, naturally.
And with every passing day, he proved just how wonderful of a father he was. The best of course, just like you knew he would be. And he'd helped you through so many issues, including all the bad thoughts you let seep in about your body during and after your pregnancy. He was patient and kind, and made you feel so incredibly beautiful and loved. Which you were, of course.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
“Where are my boys?” It had been a long day of work for you and there had been nothing you wanted more than to come home and pile up with the two of them and get all of the cuddles. You set your bag down but heard no response. Just before you could call out to them again, you heard a hushed voice and some soft music coming from down the hallway. You followed the sounds and peeked through the open door to Jamie’s room. Not surprisingly you found the two of them together, Eddie with his guitar in his hand and his clone sitting across from him, draped in Eddie’s entirely too big jean jacket. You pushed the door open gently to keep from startling either of them, “there you are, my loves!”
“Mommy,” your son was up and padded over to you as best as he could before wrapping his little arms around your legs. You instantly softened and leaned and gently ruffle through his dark mop of curls, “missed you.”
“I missed you too,” Eddie was practically beaming from his spot on the floor, setting aside his guitar to come over to you. He leaned over and placed a gentle kiss to your lips, sighed softly when he saw how sweetly you were looking at him.
“I missed both of my boys so very much.”
“Up,” the little one turned to you and extended his little arms up to you with an eager expression on his face, “mommy!”
“Sorry bud,” before he could protest, Eddie had scooped him up in his arms and settled him on his hip. Jamie pouted, a trait that was so reminiscent of his father, and looked between the two of you, “mommy can’t pick you up right now, you’re too big.”
“But you pick me up,” he protested with a little huff, “I want mommy.”
“Mommy can’t pick you up because she’s growing your sister,” Eddie explained softly, as he had on several other occasions. You weren’t sure if he just didn’t understand the concept of you being pregnant and him getting a little sister or if he willfully chose to ignore that little fact, “and I’m not so you’re stuck with daddy for now.”
“Okay,” he leaned his head on Eddie’s shoulder as you chuckled in amusement, “I love you, daddy.”
“I love you too bud,” he promised, “you getting tired?”
“‘m not,” a weak little protest.
“How about a nap before dinner?” you suggested softly, “and then after dinner we can watch a movie?”
“Fine,” a dramatic sigh escaped his lips. This was undoubtedly Eddie Munson’s son, “can we please have chicken nuggies for dinner?”
“I think we can make that happen baby,” you promised, motioning for Eddie to put him in his bed. He was so tender as he tucked the young boy in, smoothing over his hair before kissing his forehead.
“I’ll see you in a little while bud,” he turned to you and kissed you before gently rubbing your still small bump, “let me know if you need any help.”
“I’ve got him,” you grinned, “I’ll be out in a few and if it’s longer than that, I fell asleep and need you to come and rescue me.”
“I can do that, princess.”
“Daddy?”
“Yeah, bud?”
“You’re the most metal ever!”
“Yeah?” he asked as Jamie nodded eagerly, “so are you, kid.”
You exchanged a look with Eddie and his whole face was lit up, and he felt like he was going to melt into a puddle with all the love he held for the two of you. Three, he reminded himself, soon to be a family of four, “I think you’re pretty metal too, babe.”
“We make a pretty metal family!”

Team Brenda Forever

“TV’s brashest 21-year-old talks revealingly about her wild past, her brief engagement, and ‘people who think I’m a bitch,’” the coverline next to a picture of Shannen Doherty reads on a 1992 issue of People magazine. A year later, on another People cover: “Out of Control! These days, Beverly Hills’ hard-partying, check-bouncing bad girl may be going way too far.”
In the ’90s—before a wave of early-aughts tabloids and bloggers like Perez Hilton made a mint lampooning young, female celebrities like Lindsay and Britney and Paris—Shannen Doherty was popular fodder. Drunken nights out, shotgun marriages, fights at the club, court-appointed anger-management classes, and other run-ins with the law were breathlessly chronicled for a celebrity-obsessed public thirsty to see the unraveling of the stars they tuned in to watch every week. Doherty was deemed unhinged, branded a liability. How the media treated her (and Drew Barrymore, too, for that matter) was a template for the years to follow, when such cruelty would become ever more commonplace and, with the dawn of social media, ever more accessible. Doherty was branded a bad girl; she was called difficult, a notoriously loaded term when lobbed at women.
But for teenage me, those were the very labels that made me fiercely love her. They were labels that Brenda Walsh, the character that arguably made Doherty most famous, had already confronted onscreen. When Beverly Hills, 90210 debuted in 1990, I was in junior high and already deeply familiar with Doherty from her roles as Jenny on Little House on the Prairie, Kris Witherspoon (opposite tween dream Chad Allen) on Our House, and as one of the titular mean girls in the seminal 1980s film Heathers. Brenda Walsh (played by a then 19-year-old Doherty) was introduced to audiences as a wide-eyed girl from Minnesota with a stretchy headband, mousy brown hair, and pastel-hued wardrobe who, along with her goody-two-shoes twin brother, Brandon, had been plopped into the decadence and debauchery of LA. “Nobody knows me here—I could be anybody, I could be somebody,” Brenda says to her brother on the show’s first episode as she anxiously considers what to wear on her first day at a school in a city that was definitely not Minneapolis. Beverly Hills, 90210 would dive into taboo topics like AIDS, domestic violence, eating disorders, suicide, and drug abuse, becoming a runaway hit for producer Aaron Spelling. All these years later, the show remains the pinnacle of teen drama, and Brenda its queen. (Let’s face it: The seasons after Spelling booted Doherty from the cast could never measure up, even with the addition of Tiffani Thiessen’s chaos-courting Valerie Malone.)
Tumblr media

Over the course of the four seasons that Doherty was on 90210, Brenda would grow and shift, both in her look (along came the bodysuits, high-waist jeans, endlessly imitated dark brown hair with blunt bangs, and that signature knowing smirk) and her identity. We watched her decide to have sex for the first time (an episode that famously raised conservative eyebrows); contend with a pregnancy scare; fight and make up and break up (to the tune of R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion”) with Dylan; rebel against her parents’ arcane rules; try on new personas (bonjour, Brenda Dubois); get arrested (for protesting animal testing, naturally); and face the aftermath of a best friend’s betrayal. Yet Brenda would also face well-publicized backlash from fans of the show, as people began to conflate the character with Doherty’s off-screen behavior. (There was even a popular ’90s zine called the I Hate Brenda Newsletter.)
Brenda—or was it Shannen?—became the girl people loved to hate. Doherty once said in an interview: “People couldn’t separate me from her, and I got sick of people assuming that I was as naughty and bad as Brenda was. It was all very hurtful.” Though one was fictionalized, they were both up against the complicated pressures of adolescence and wanting to be taken seriously. Both on television and off, Doherty was passionate, she was intense, she was straightforward, she was self-assured, and for all these reasons, she was dismissed and poorly regarded. For those of us navigating our own coming of age, and simultaneously facing harsh judgment from our families and peers, we saw ourselves in Brenda—and, in turn, in Shannen. I know I did.
When the news broke this week that Doherty had died from cancer, prompting an outpouring of social media tributes and Instagram messages from saddened friends, I saw that others felt the same way. Part of the sadness seemed to come from how hard Doherty had fought to live; she’d recently shared on her excellent and refreshingly candid podcast Let’s Be Clear how hopeful she felt about a new course of chemotherapy.
But for many of my fellow Gen X’ers and older millennials, we’d also lost a part of ourselves. We loved Shannen Doherty, we idolized her, but most of all, at some point, we saw ourselves in a version of her. We were all a little wild once; we were all a little difficult. We were all a little Brenda.

I’M NO TEENAGE ICON …
A character introduction
Name: Deven Shaw
Age: 49
Pronouns: He/him
Occupation: Retired Actor
Nationality: American
Role: Deuteragonist
Playlist
“Exiled implies that I was kicked out of somewhere, when I was the one who left.”
Deven used to be an actor. Not any actor, but a movie star. During the late 80s and 90s, you could hear the name Deven Shaw everywhere: in movies, in entertainment news tv shows, in gossip magazines. All the teen boys wanted to be him and all the teen girls wanted to be with him.
The best friend of fellow actor and iconic heartthrob, Scott Case, Deven suffered more than anyone when Scott passed away in 2000. He disappeared from the public eye sometime after that, announcing his retirement and running off from Los Angeles to an unknown location, where no one could find him or knew who he used to be.
Almost 15 years passed until someone finally decided to find where Deven Shaw had been living all this time: Nadia Pérez, a screenwriter with hopes of Deven helping her with her most recent script. Because who would know more about Scott Case’s life and mysterious death than his best friend?
When Nadia finds him, he has become more reclusive than what she had expected and she has to practically beg him to help her, as Deven isn’t really interested in sharing stories from his youth, back when he was famous and Scott was still alive.
"You remember it behind your nostalgia-colored glasses. But the truth is, I didn't get along with those people after, what? The mid 90's?"

Weekly Recap | March 27th-April 2nd 2023
Tumblr media
Here's what I read in the past week! I hope you all had a good one :) Enjoy!
Complete
🖤 TITS! magazine by wynnyfryd/ @wynnyfryd (No Upside Down, University AU | 12K | Explicit): TITS! the title reads in exuberant block letters. The hottest new male erogenous zone for the late 70s continues to blaze into the new decade. Herewith, a sizzling nine-page pictorial saluting those magnificent masculine mounds of pleasure. Eddie snickers into his fist. A pictorial salute to pectorals, indeed. Fucking man mounds, Jesus Christ. Then he gets to the centerfold and the laugh dies in his throat.
it turns me on that you care, baby by deadratz (PWP | 3K | Explicit): In their apartment with a broken heater and poor insulation, Steve and Eddie have each other to keep warm.
amplification by Adure/ @toburnup (Dreamsharing, PWP | 2K | Explicit): "And what if it's about you?" Steve asks, eyes serious. Questioning. "Would it still be a compliment?" Eddie's throat is bone dry. He blinks, feels each thought rearrange into something less comprehensible. Steve's hand is warm against his back. "As long as it's a good dream." (Part 3 of parasomnia)
Anything Can Happen in This World (For An Ordinary Boy) by InvisibleAce (Hannah Montana AU | 7K | Mature): So. Here’s the catch. Eddie Munson hates Steve Harrington, but loves ZTEEV. Steve Harrington loves Eddie Munson but can’t tell him that he’s ZTEEV. He can’t tell anyone.
WIP
🖤 Steve Harrington’s Radical Fun Time Babysitting Service by Humanities_Handbag / @humanityinahandbag, Invader_Sam (No Upside Down AU, 90’s | 25/? | 98K | Mature): Alternatively: Steve accidentally starts a babysitting service, falls in love, panics [in bisexual], and gets himself a boyfriend. (Part 1 of 90’s Music Store AU)
🖤 Swing and a Miss by deadonarrival (Baseball Player Steve, Fake Relationship | 2/5 | 13K | Explicit): “Apparently they usually reserve the box for the wives and girlfriends … so either you’re gonna have to be my boyfriend or you’re going to have to sit in the stands with the fans. It’s not that bad, you just need to like, pretend to be my boyfriend so you can sit with the other WAGs and like, then you can be in the box and have all you can drink alcohol and snacks.” “Did you agree to this!?” Eddie asks. “If I say yes, how mad are you going to be?” Steve asks.
🖤 The Voice That Calls Me Home by DeadEyedGemini,  spaceandjunk (No Upside Down AU, Phone Sex Operator Eddie | 6/? | 30K | Explicit): A little matchbook sits in his hand, a usually innocuous item, except this one has bold letters printed across the front of it in neon colors. The words read: Cruise Line-24/7 Homosexual Action-All Local and has a number printed across it. Steve blinks down at the number for a solid minute before he realizes what exactly he’s looking at, it’s a phone sex line for men interested in men.
No More Retreating by 3MinsOver (Post-S4 | 1/4 | 5K | Explicit): When Eddie Munson doesn’t kick the bucket in the Upside Down, he realizes there are a whole load of things he might have died without doing. And who’s there to help him out? Why, Steve Harrington, of course.
Re-Read
sloe gin fizzy, do it till you're dizzy by MacksDramaticShenanigans / @stevethehairington (Post-S4 | 6K | Teen): Steve doesn’t flinch away from the closeness. Just breathes and blinks. And then his eyes flicker down to Eddie’s lips and right back up, so quick that Eddie’s hazy brain would have missed it if he hadn’t been paying attention, hadn’t been anticipating it. Eddie takes it as the invitation it has to be, and slowly, slowly closes the distance. His nose does bump into Steve’s as he enters his space, but he pauses, hesitates with his mouth hovering a hair’s breadth away from Steve’s.He waits for the rejection, for the brutal shove away, for the disgusted “what the fuck man?”. But they don’t come. What does come is Steve’s mouth, pushing forward to press against Eddie’s.

Why you should check out Saint Tail
So there’s been talk about how important it is to support the blu-ray release of Saint Tail coming out from Discotek in April 2023. They’ve mentioned a few times in their presentations that the future of traditional magical girl home video releases in the U.S. depends on how well Saint Tail does.
But if you’ve never heard of Saint Tail, there’s probably not a of incentive to try and seek it out. Lots of “support the show!” but not a lot of “why”
I’m here to tell you why:
It’s cute, wholesome and fun. It’s about a young magical girl, Meimi Haneoka, who steals back treasures from bad people to give them to their rightful owners, with a young detective her age hot on her trail. Think of it like Lupin III but if Lupin was a catholic schoolgirl trying to catch the affections of Zenigata (You’re welcome for that mental image)
She uses her magic powers like stage magic to pull off her capers and also relies on assistance of her Nun-in-training/BFF Seira in secret and all before school the next morning!
Tumblr media
Animated by TMS & Directed by Osamu Nabeshima, from 1995. Based on the shoujo manga by Megumi Tachikawa that ran in Nakayoshi (the same manga magazine that ran Sailor Moon, Rayearth, Miracle Girls & Cardcaptor Sakura)
youtube
While a good number of magical girls of the 90′s followed trends set by Sailor Moon, Saint Tail takes things back to basics a bit & focuses much more on interpersonal relationships & everyday occurrences. There isn’t a ton of world building or fantasy lore, Meimi/Saint Tail could be any girl in any town with a good heart.
The main draw of Saint Tail is the relationship between Saint Tail & her pursuer Asuka Jr., a stubborn detective's son who is the only person to come close to catching Saint Tail and gains a bit of a crush on Meimi’s magical persona in the process, all while thinking Meimi herself as nothing more than a girl in his class. It leads to a lot of friction between them but at the end of the day you can tell the two of them like each other & are a pretty innocent budding middle school romance.
If you’re a fan of teen romances, interesting takes on the magical girl genre, children outsmarting the police, or just want good things for your soul, check it out! I definitely wouldn’t be the magical girl fan I am today without help from Saint Tail.

Peter Tork and his grandmother, Catherine McGuire Straus (in photo 2 at the premiere of Head, 1968; photo by Art Zelin/Getty Images).
“One of my favorite people in the world is my ‘Grams,’ Mrs. Catherine McGuire Straus. She lives in Manhattan in the West 50’s. She calls Colgems regularly to check on our record sales, keeps an enormous scrapbook on the activities of the Monkees (favoring me a little bit, of course), and she visits all the record stores regularly to make sure that they are well stocked with Monkees singles and LP’s.” - Peter Tork, 16’s The Monkees: Here We Are (1967)
Many are no doubt familiar with Peter’s grandmother’s contributions to U.S. teen magazines. A few things that might have have fallen through the cracks of Tork and Monkees history are his grandmother’s letters to two British music magazines in 1967...
“As the grandmother of one Monkee, Peter Tork, I have received hundreds of delightful letters from British fans of the Monkees. Recently there have been complaints that some magazines do not print pictures of Peter when they are doing a story on the Monkees. But I find Monkee pictures fairly well distributed in all the pop magazines, though Davy Jones more or less rules the roost! Also received complaints about Peter not appearing with his co-Monkees when they were in London in February. I would assume that the working hours he has every day, seven days a week, are not conducive to his spending a vacation with one’s workers. And I assure you Peter has a mind of his own, so he couldn’t be persuaded to join them. He’s at last been seen and heard — ‘fine’ by his British fans. Do hope the concerts were a SMASHING success — to use a Britishism!” - Catherine McGuire Straus, Disc & Music Echo, July 15, 1967
“Having belatedly read the article by Jeremy Walsh on the Monkees, as the grandmother of one Monkee — Peter Tork — I resent it. It seems to me unnecessarily nasty and rude. His attacks on the group are peculiarly venomous, considering that the Monkees cannot have done anything to promote such anger and, in fact, are the delight of most critics. Well, there’s no use laboring the point. One can only wonder why the hostility. And why make comparisons with the Beatles. Either the Monkees are good in their own right or they’re not. There’s nothing else to consider, is there. Incidentally Peter was marked for the academic world, where both his parents teach. He flunked out of college twice. After his sojourn in Greenwich Village and the concert tours, decided he’d head for the West Coast and Hollywood — every actor’s Mecca. Over 400 applicants auditioned for the Monkees — Peter was one of the four selected and so the Monkees were born etc. Last, but not least, the U.S.A. helped to bring fame and fortune to the Beatles and their super manager, Brian Epstein. Let the British do likewise for the Monkees.” - Sincerely yours, Catherine McG. Straus, Record Mirror, April 8, 1967
“I received hundreds of delightful letters, many of which I answered, in answer to my protest about the article on the Monkees by Jeremy Walsh. All I want is for these charming teenagers to know how grateful I am for their love and devotion to the Monkees.” - Catherine McG. Straus, Record Mirror, June 17, 1967
Here’s part of the opinion of one Jeremy Walsh, referenced by Peter’s grandmother:
“If four good-looking boys, with no talent, can top the charts — can beat the sales of real stars — then it’s all worthless. I’m not saying they can’t play at all. I’m saying that they can’t play well. I’m also saying that their TV series, fount of 90 per cent of their disc fame, is blatantly based on the earlier Beatle films… and that they owe a lot of their disc hits to Beatle influences. I’d feel less strongly about them if only they had tried to adapt something completely new. It’s like some massive act of retaliation by the Americans, still smarting over Beatle-domination. […] The Monkee business really makes me smart. The only consolation is that it should be a short craze. Several people will make their million, then cheerfully abandon the whole project.” - Jeremy Walsh, Record Mirror, February 4, 1967

Ideas for my 2009's humanstuck au:
• Nepeta, Sollux, Karkat and Terezi are close friends.(Karkat is their internet friend in common because he lives in Argentina and they live in the US).
• Nepeta is an otaku and fan of warriorcats, likes to rp with terezi and Feferi. Likes to draw and animate in her nintendo ds.
• Sollux is a computer wizard, a huge gamer (mostly plays Cod) and likes to spite Karkat and his gamer skills. He is a sarcastic king and charges people $20 to fix their computers.
• Sometimes Sollux pirates Nep's favorite animes for her and they watch them together.
• Terezi is blind in this au. She likes candy. A LOT(the reason why she wears braces) specially those cherry jelly gummies. She likes 90's fashion and watching dragon tales (couldn't be more proud about this fact)
• Feferi is a huge fan of everything sea related (coughmermaidscough). Attends to swimming lessons along with Eridan. Has a plethora of mermaid swimming tails. She also likes to take care of her fish pets, sometimes a little too much.
• Fef's mother is kind of absent, her big sister, Meenah, too. So the staff in her mansion take most care of her. Nonetheless, she always has a good spirit, even if she feels somewhat alone.
• Eridan is the typical snobby teen with straight A's and a rich family (which might be the reason for the A's). He often goes to parties with his "friends" in the academy, but really the only friend he has and understands him is Feferi. He often feels alone because his father leaves for business trips, leaving him with his excuse of an older brother.
• Eridan likes and owns all of the Harry Potter Saga (at the moment) but prefers not to nerd out in fear of rejection (only nerds out to Feferi). He is also an avid fan of greek history and mythology.
• Tavros (who is a pokémon encyclopedia) is close friends with Aradia, sometimes they trade pokémon cards and have a few matches. His family immigrated from Spain to Argentina.
• Tavros is best friends with Gamzee, they hang out often and have rap jam sessions with basic rap beats coming out of Tav's family computer.
• Gamzee is...you know how Gamzee is. He likes Porta and ICP, sometimes he ends up at the hospital for drinking too much soda. Likes drawing and making tye-dye tshirts. His father owns a huge furniture store but most people in town think the store is just a facade to hide more..criminal matters.
• Karkat sometimes hangs with Gamzee, but he's more close with Kanaya and Ter. He likes programming and playing Cod, but not as much as watching the pirated romcom cds he hides under his matress with Kan.
• Karkat also has a slight obsession with the telenovelas his dad watches(coughMaríaladelbarriocough), which are the same ones Kankri criticises for being too problematic.
• Kanaya attends a catholic school her mom is a teacher in with Karkat and Rose. She likes to buy fashion magazines and tries to copy the models with the patterns they provide. Has a small academic rivalry with Rose Lalonde, but there's also some sparks there.
• Aradia lives in the same neighbourhood as Karkat and Tavros, and is internet friends with Sollux, who she met on club penguin a few years ago. She is more of an outgoing kid, and is not often seen inside her house unless she is initiating an excavation in her backyard in search for bones. Any kind of bones.
• Aradia is also internet friends with Nepeta and Terezi (they talk sometimes in skype) they're planning to one day meet up in the future and play dnd together, with their new addition to the group, Vriska.
• Vriska lives in the US in Equius' neighborhood. She has been Terezi's friend on and off, because of differences between eachother. She also met Tavros on the online game "8 ball pool" and tries to teach him how to ace pool like her.
• Vriska is kind of the problem child in her school, a punk at heart. She skips school often and disrespects authorities. Nobody but Ter knows the reason behind this jealousy towards her older, more successful sister, Aranea (and perhaps some neglecting from her mother too).
• Vriska likes fantasy books (often where the hero is NOT weak and is VERY awesome) and likes to imagine herself in those worlds as a form of escapism. She also likes Avril Lavigne and has a pet spider, which is very demanding when it comes to food.
• Equius is the quiet but kind kid..if not a little weird. His family proudly owns a robotics company his father initiated in the 90's, Equius is the nervous heir in line.
• He is very close friends with Nepeta, to the point of having grown together. They have a small tradition of celebrating eachother's birthdays with a tea party. Nepeta likes her tea without milk, Equius prefers more milk than tea.
