DUMAGUETE, NEGROS ORIENTAL -- The Commission on Elections (COMELEC)-National is currently preparing to conduct special elections for the 3rd District of Negros Oriental, which will commence on Saturday (December 9, 2023 at 7am -- Dumaguete local time). This ongoing development comes after the COMELEC assumed control of the said local district region from Wednesday (November 8, 2023).

Negros Oriental has been under the control of the COMELEC in Central Visayas, following a resolution issued by the commission. This move aims to ensure the integrity and fairness of the electoral process in the district. THIS JUST IN: ABS-CBN Corporation and Zoe Broadcasting Network Inc. terminates its Licensing Agreement on Both Networks for DTT while PRTV Tacloban is soon to be an Independent Station of PCMC

QUEZON, MANILA -- Two corporate networks have now recently ends a licensing agreement of Zoe Broadcasting Network Inc. (ZBNi) in connection for ABS-CBN Corporation last Tuesday (November 1st, 2022). DZMM-TV 26's ABS-CBN TeleRadyo & DZOE-TV's A2Z: Channel 11 in Metro Manila to be axed out for Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) and was decided not to be renewed as effective immediately.

In an exclusive report from our news team of OneNETnews, the Free TV on DTT will no longer planned to air on both channels. Cable and Satellite providers like SkyCable and Cignal for example will not be affected from a transmitter source in Quezon City, Manila and in Antipolo City, Rizal. This was after many televised viewers asked why both networks have unexpectedly disappeared from their digital TV boxes like ABS-CBN TVplus and GMA Affordabox. Shortly after the dead air on both networks per DTT, it will automatically replace a religious and news station of DZOZ-TV's Light TV Network Ch. 33, a parent sister station of ZBNi.

As of this writing, TeleRadyo can still be watched on Cable and online digital platforms via ABS-CBN News and DZMM TeleRadyo's Facebook page, along with TeleRadyo's YouTube Channel to look back what you've missed upon continuing to deliver the latest news and information for the Kababayans and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) abroad. You can also download via the mobile app of ABS-CBN Radio Service and AlTo to listen LIVE wherever you go.

Meanwhile in Eastern Visayas, Philippine Collective Media Corporation (PCMC) had now exclusively announced that the same day at the end of October 2022, ZBNi and DYPR-TV's PRTV Tacloban are in parting ways to end also its blocktime licensing agreement of A2Z in Tacloban City as according to their social media accounts. A2Z is the only parent company with a partnership of PCMC and was owned by House Speaker named Ferdinand Martin Gomez Romualdez, who was a political party at present with Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (L-CMD).

The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) had now already applied to air its regional channels, including A2Z in Eastern Visayas through DTT Ch. 20. It is roughly undetermined if PRTV Tacloban will soon to be an Independent TV station of PCMC, instead of ZBNi alone. A locally flagship radio station known as Favorite Music Radio (FMR) 100.7mhz DYDR-FM: Tacloban will be replaced and combined as a TeleRadyo style video format thru Facebook LIVE.

Both of its corporate networks to be accepting a final decision despite for the expiration of Free TV per blocktimer of ZBNi is at risk without advertisers and cost-cutting measures.

#PHnews: Palace ‘no reaction’ to ABS-CBN’s free TV comeback

MANILA – Malacañang has no reaction to the return of some ABS-CBN shows to free-to-air television after sealing a deal with the television network of Jesus Is Lord Church founder and Deputy Speaker Eddie Villanueva.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque described ABS-CBN as a “content provider”, adding that it is a distinct line of business that does not require a franchise to operate.

“We have no reaction to it because they’re a content provider,” Roque said in an interview with CNN Philippines’ The Source.

However, he said that it is Villanueva’s TV network that would be subject to franchise regulation.

“For all intended purposes, it is Zoe that will be subject to regulation because Zoe is the franchise holder,” Roque said.

ABS-CBN will be airing select shows and movies starting October 10 on the newly rebranded "A2Z", previously known as Zoe TV Channel 11 or Zoe TV.

The deal between the Kapamilya network and Zoe Broadcasting Network, Inc. will allow Filipinos to watch their favorite programs that became inaccessible on TV after ABS-CBN's franchise was denied in Congress.

“So I guess the fans of Probinsyano and the other soap operas can look forward to them on Zoe TV,” he said.

Asked if ABS-CBN’s comeback to free TV was mentioned when Villanueva led a pray-over for President Rodrigo Duterte last week, Roque said he had no personal knowledge.

“I wouldn’t know. I was also not at the meeting. I get my orders on what to say from the President himself, which spares me from having to go to all the meetings. Otherwise, I won’t have a life,” he said.

ABS-CBN ceased its broadcast operations on May 5, a day after the expiration of the network’s legislative franchise, following the National Telecommunications Commission’s cease and desist order.

The House of Representatives’ Committee on Legislative Franchises, on July 10, junked ABS-CBN’s franchise bid for another 25 years in a 70-11 vote.

The panel denied the franchise application of ABS-CBN to construct, install, establish, operate, and maintain radio and broadcasting stations in the Philippines. (PNA)

4-House Leadership Standoff Months after President Duterte's penultumate SONA, the leadership in the House of Representatives began to standoff. The 15-21 agreement between Alan Peter Cayetano and Lord Allan Velasco aren't done yet. The tension began with these two factions until Cayetano steps down as House Speaker and Velasco assumed leadership after a secret meeting was held before it elevated in the House session hall.

3-ABS-CBN Franchise controversy The leading media entity in the country experienced a big blow. First, NTC forced ABS-CBN to cease broadcast following the Cease-and-Desist Order dated May 5, covering all Free-to-Air Radio & TV stations of the network (including Channels 2 & 23, DZMM-AM and DWRR-FM, all in Manila) as well as Digital TV channels. These were all signed off at 7:52pm of that day. Aside from which, an Alias Cease-and-Desist Order forcing AMCARA Broadcasting Network to shut down its transmission of ABS-CBN digital channels via Ch. 43 on June 30, which it happened at 8:30pm (and the eventual shutdown of its provincial digital channels carrying ABS-CBN digital programming and are also owned by AMCARA at 6pm of August 1). Then, the Congress finally denied the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN that led to lay off employees and shut down network-related businesses, divisions, and some cable channels (ANC, CineMo, Metro Channel, Jeepeney TV, Cinema One, TeleRadyo, and MYX were not affected). But the Kapamilya network did not lose hope. Last June 13, ABS-CBN resurrects through its 24/7 Kapamilya Channel on cable and satellite, and months later, Kapamilya Online LIVE through Facebook and YouTube platforms. IWant and TFC Online were merged together in September as IWantTFC and the said video-on-demand platform is now accessible worldwide. In October, ABS-CBN secured its blocktime arrangement with religious broadcaster ZOE Broadcasting Network in airing some entertainment content through A2Z Channel 11 which was launched on October 10, initially on Analog, and it became available on Digital TV on November 12, ending the years of waiting and some rumors that all became clear for both parties.

2-Typhoons and Floods This year became worse for some residents in the country. First was the onslaught of Ambo in May, then the series of typhoons in Luzon area, starting with Pepito until Ulysses, and even massive flooding in some Cagayan Valley areas. President Rodrigo Duterte declares a State of Calamity in the enitre Luzon island.

1-COVID19 Pandemic in the Philippines The invisible enemy entered in the country through a first confirmed case, just weeks before President Duterte declared a nationwide Community Quarantine and eventually the Luzon-wide lockdown, and a nationwide state of calamity. All normal living were halted, businesses and media were affected, and even events and mass activities.
