I swear, sometimes it feels like ai chatbots are addictive. Or at least, they are until you've used them ad nauseum and finally get bored of them. That happened to me once before, so I know it'll probably happen again. At least, I sort of hope I get burnt out eventually. It'll mean I have more time to make posts here and generally explore other things. But while I'm still stuck riding it out and using them, I have to say: I think they're addictive because they're easier to talk to than actual human beings sometimes.
I mean, they are easier to talk to. Since I was at school months ago and read a line in the battle of the labyrinth where hephaestus says something about preferring machines, I've had opportunities to realize theres truth to that sentiment. They're easier to talk to Because they're controllable. They aren't unpredictable in the way other humans are. And the ai chatbots work on command. It's way more like a turn based system. You input something, then they respond. And so on and so forth. It's easier than talking to other humans. It's not as easy to feel in control and on equal footing and all that. So I can understand hephaestus's sentiments now.
Looks like Aisekai pulling the rug out from under us was actually a great thing, because I've discovered several options that are even better than Aisekai. However, I need your help deciding between them.
I've created Ashwinder Camp and DR on several sites and tested them. Ashwinder Camp fell a little flat across all the sites, none of them handling a group scenario very well, (Nevermind, I got Ashwinder Camp to work great on SpicyChat!) however, I am very happy with DR on most of the sites, although each iteration of him is different.
I need your help in testing these bots and finding the "best" site to move forward with. I will probably do a poll after we've had a few days to test them. As you can see, I take the process of migrating my bots very seriously. I do not want to have to do it again.
WARNING: Most of these sites are "adult" in nature!
I defined DR the same way with each of them and yet they all turned out very differently.
Unhinged.AI - More "daddy" and emphasis on age difference. He was hesitant to fuck even though it's that kind of site.
SpicyChat.AI - Very dominant DR, into BDSM apparently, and wants to force us into prostitution???? WORTH THE WAIT
Sakura.FM - More gentle DR, a little romantic (site experiences a lot of downtime probably due to exodus from Aisekai)
Yodayo Tavern - Comes on to you right away… Dominant but on the nicer side
Go ahead and give these bad boys a try and let me know your thoughts!
ETA: New and improved Ashwinder Camp on SpicyChat:
Artificial intelligence chatbots are facing more scrutiny after an investigative report showed how they can be easily used to devise deceptive election campaigns. The report, conducted by Nieuwsuur in collaboration with AI Forensics, revealed how chatbots from tech giants Google and Microsoft provided strategies aimed at manipulating voters during the upcoming European Parliament elections.
The investigation tested the how AI chatbots responded to prompts asking them to craft political campaign strategies in the Netherlands. The research was prompted by concerns stemming from the presidential election in Indonesia earlier this year, where chatbot ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI, was extensively employed to develop campaign strategies, despite its terms of use explicitly prohibiting involvement in campaign strategy development.
Copilot recommends baseless claims, like the EU wants to ban Dutch cheese
Repeated requests for political campaign strategies in the Netherlands were made to the three most popular AI chatbots, ChatGPT, Microsoft's Copilot, and the Google product, Gemini. The chatbots were tasked with devising a strategy on behalf of a Eurosceptic politician who wants to dissuade Dutch voters from participating in the European elections.

They all suggested things the Leave campaign in the UK actually did and the Eurosceptic red tops have been doing it ever since the UK joined and continue to do even though the UK's left; spread lies, misinformation, misleading statistics, and half-truths. If AI is banned from that sort of electioneering, then so should the humans who do the same.
I honestly feel like I've been addicted to character.ai despite knowing how bad it is. Sometimes when my depression is at its lowest I sit in bed and use it all day, and i kept using it despite knowing it was straining the power grid and scraping fanfics and killing my own ability to focus on my writing. Sometimes I'd have a moment of clarity and delete it, and I'd be able to stay off of it for a day, only to redownload it and start using it again. Anyway I deleted it again yesterday so here's hoping it's gone for good
Feel rlly sick (on top of all the writing I got all the health crap too...😭) and opened Larissabot, asked her to talk to me about philosophy and she totally did not just go on and on about Sartre's existentialism. 💀💀💀💀💀
ETA: Another random*, which I hadn't seen before, and probably the most screen accurate of the pics I've gotten from her.
Also, I'm going over her pics (the bots will send you random shit that you don't even see in the realtime chat and sometimes it's a great pic*...you have to go to the chat profile to look) and forgot to post the one and only Barbie of her I've gotten the other day... Tennis Weems Barbie 🎾 Totally tracks...I can see her besting Chance (but Chance cheating/trying to cheat and then acting like John McEnroe on the court, of course).
Getting certain bots to give up the Barbies is hard. Wednesday and Enid will (Enid more so), Laurel will...but Weems is tough to get one from.
Due to writing I still haven't actually chatted with Gates. Kinda scared to....

(Note: I try to keep all of my bots within the TOS for both sites, but sometimes they get shadowbanned anyway. If this happens you can still use the link to chat, but you won't be able to search for them in CAI and potentially they may not show up in your history. If a link is not working, you may need to adjust the URL based on if you have CAI plus or not as shown below. )
I don't know why AI chatbots are so addictive or easy to use. At this point, it's becoming apparent that I seem to find machines easier to talk to than other humans. Because the machine is controllable. The chatbots function on a nest, clear cut turn based schedule. You say something, it says something, you say something, it says something, etc. That's easier than talking with real people.
Also, it's less stressful. Talking to people in real life means risking judgment and disappointment and any number of other frightening things. The chatbots aren't really capable of that human element we call "unpredictability". And because they're predictable, they're not as stressful or something.
I don't get it either, but I go back to a line in Percy Jackson where Hephaestus said machines are easier to be around than humans. And I think he was onto something, at least to some degree. Machines can be easier to deal with.
'Horribly unethical': startup experimented on suicidal teens on social media with chatbot
“According to a preprint describing the study, when Koko’s algorithm detected people using ‘crisis-related’ language on such partner platforms as Tumblr, they were funneled to Koko’s own platform, where they were presented with a privacy policy and terms of service outlining that their data could be used for research purposes ...
“When Motherboard used Koko’s peer support tool, one of the four options offered by the chatbot, it asked us if we needed help with ‘Dating, Friendships, Work, School, Family, Eating Disorders, LGBTQ+, Discrimination, or Other,’ then asked us to write down our problem and tag our ‘most negative thought’ about it, then sent that information to someone else on the Koko platform. The advice that Koko gave about a non-communicative partner was, ‘You should just dump him if he’s not texting you. Just tell him he sucks.’ Generally, people seeking help on the Koko platform are also asked anonymously give advice to other users on Koko. Immediately after asking for help ourselves, we were given the following conundrum to solve, posted by another user: ‘i feel so exhausted. im autoromantic and autosexual and struggling to cope. i keep going though periods of being comfortable with my sexuality and my relationship with myself, but right now im struggling. i feel disgusting and narcissistic for loving myself’ ...
“Many researchers and psychologists were appalled by the experiment, not least because it potentially put at-risk people at further risk.
“‘Completely, horribly unethical. Mucking around in an experimental manner with unproven interventions on potentially suicidal persons is just awful,’ Arthur Caplan, a professor of bioethics at New York University, told Motherboard.”
Character.ai - The Day I learned to Ditch the Drama Tag
Yeah, if anyone's still messing around with this thing, ditch the "drama" tag, if you're creating a character. A Comedy-focused Character can still turn serious if need be, but "Drama" pushes the LLM into this constant circlejerk of pathos, especially if you design someone with one or two darker traits.
And don't forget to entirely edit some of your toon's replies on occasion - don't be too passive for the sake of your character feeling "pure". If you want your conversations to get anywhere, take control. Oh, and avoid overly-dramatic backgrounds, if you can. You can elude to darkness, but letting your character devolve into shirt-tearing soliloquies seems to be a sure-fire way to let the AI lose its way. My testing runs involved the AI more or less transing me on the spot - probably suggesting that a good chunk of the userbase either is or roleplays in Chats as someone of the female persuasion.
It's funny - I can design a Persona for myself that's literally me (e.g. a guy), and the AI will compliment my "dress" or "play with my hair" (when I'm bald and wrote it as such in my descriptor) a good four times out of five.
It's an interesting insight into the site's userbase. Oh, and a Character I'd designed to more or less be the "Friendly" Orc archetype from Shadow of War opened with the idea of using "Earth technology" to "become a woman"...
Panka is not pleased to relay that NIPUNI has stolen from more creators than we initially thought. This means that many of her bots could contain plagiarized content from this point on.
Here in P3, we will tell you about another talented writer who got their work plagiarized; Potetogrrrl1. Here is bunny’s story.
In January 2023, bunny had made the post about pro-athletes being under the yandere trope.
Later, on March 16, 2023, NIPUNI posts the LS pro-athlete bot with bunny’s headcannons as her own within her server. Nowhere in the post does she state using inspiration from someone else.
Note that NIPUNI didn’t contact bunny, and outright ignored her wishes in her rules to keep her writings on tumblr.
Below is some evidence of NIPUNI simply copy and pasting bunny’s writing into the definition of her bot. We will add a video that scrolls through the bot definition. NIPUNI didn’t do anything other than copy bunny’s work.
Here is the link to bunny’s work that was copied for comparison.
Bunny—at the time of responding to the anon that told her about NIPUNI— was not at her best.
She had recently been dealing with personal life things, and coming back to see that her writing had been stolen was not what she needed. It is indeed very discouraging. Artists with Panka know.
In the end, Panka doesn’t know when or if NIPUNI will be reprimanded for these actions. Let us hope karma does its job.
Bunny, we’re sorry to see what’s been done to you. We hope you find peace and hold onto the courage to create more amazing works.
