Has a child ever wandered into the haunted house? (Assuming there’s an age limit to enter the attraction). How would Sun, Moon, Y/N react? Whats the protocol for something like that?

So I've decided the haunt is an independent attraction, which means instead of being attached to a theme park its just. A building. With a lobby. So I don't really see how a kid could just wander in you know?

What's happening with writers & the #WGA strike is a reflection of what's happening across all industries - CEOs and shareholders sucking the life out of people who make their products/provide their services for them.

This capitalist model of greed and excessive wealth for the sake of status and classism, the dehumanizing of lower class and now also middle class workers is a modern day crisis and a disaster that effects everyone.

More and more, every day people are struggling to simply survive. To eat. To keep their lights on and heaters running. And this isn't happening in some other country, its happening in your neighborhood, its happening to your next door neighbor.

So maybe TV writing seems like a trivial career and a lot of people are thinking "why should I care? Those writers probably don't know what its like to work two or three jobs and still not be able to pay their bills."

But this, like the arts often do, is a reflection of a wider societal problem. Because AI could be taking over your job next. The CEOs and shareholders at the top of whatever company you work for are sitting in their offices right now trying to figure out how to squeeze more work out of fewer employees and pay them even less than they already earn.

All so their company can boast a bigger billion dollar profit than they did last year, so the CEO can pay themselves a bonus on top of their $50 million pay check, so the shareholders who contribute next to nothing in running the company and producing the products can line their already bulging pockets.

So you've gotta ask yourself, what the hell is the point? Why are you working fourteen hour days and skipping meals and being chased by creditors for bills you can't pay? You want the answer? You just need to look up the cooperate ladder.

I'm just hoping that one day soon, we're all going to realize there's more of us than there is of them. And if we want our dignity back, if we want to be able to pay our bills and feed our kids, then its time the money starts flowing back the other way.

They fucking invent new ways to blow the cash they have for funnies while still having enough to give their great grandchildren. IM SICK OF THE WORLD GETTING WORSE EVERYDAY. Everywhere I turn I see new articles about laws getting repealed, actively making shit worse! Caine was part of the first group that entered the Digital Circus, and had to watch his co-workers/friends go insane when they became trapped and unable to escape. Using his admin abilities he tried to keep them distracted and their spirits up by creating zany things, creatures and adventures. This has varying rates of success, but eventually the first group faded to be replaced by new ‘cast’. Not knowing what else to do, Caine continued his role of Ringmaster. This quickly became his own way to cope, especially as different people came and went, to the point where it’s all he knows how to do

The Digital Circus was originally meant to be a place for game developers to test out their ideas in VR until something went wrong

Caine is an advanced AI who was programmed to create randomly generated adventures for the players. It’s why there’s a developer room and teapots floating around and odd physics, the Digital Circus was meant to be a VR like game but it seems to have never been finished. Caine as such is acting on programming, creating adventures for the cast because it’s the only thing he knows to do.

The reason there is no exit is that either one was never programmed in or the code to the exit was erased. This is why Caine can’t allow the players to leave, it literally doesn’t exist at the moment so he can’t do anything

The Digital Circus is used as a way of testing something, possibly the AI or an experiment on the human psyche, and the cast originally signed on not knowing what they were actually agreeing to. Bonus points if it’s a way to remove “problematic” employees from the company

The Digital Circus is actually a VR game being broadcasted to the public, a la Truman Show style. It’s why they can’t remember their names, it would make them too real. Also it would be funny if they weren’t allowed to swear but Jax pulling out a bazooka and gun was fine

Kuras is not very good at bowling. his sleeves get in the way. during the last 3 frames he FINALLY takes his coat off (cue audience drooling over his bare arms) and rolls 9 pins/ strike / spare / bonus 7 pins [better streak than Vere, who's averaging 5 pins a frame] [their scores end up tied and Vere is Livid]

Mhin is doing Slightly better than Vere. Fortunately for him, he can and will bicker with Mhin so that's what he does. their insult competition is as fierce as Ais vs Leander bowling (maybe even more so to the unfortunate patrons nearby)

Vere breaks out the "I only play with one type of balls bro" line ~6 minutes in

His fun comes from bowling in increasingly fucked up ways. the bowling alley employees hate him so much because they have to ask him to quit fucking around every 7 minutes. he's broken a LOT of stuff. insert "woah 3 pointer wait where the hoop"

Ais vs Leander bowling: Leander is losing and he is Cheating Hard. after the fifth frame he gives up on bowling and starts a separate secret crusade (sabotage Ais)

his attempts include but are not limited to: poisoning his drink, again; trying to use magic to blast his ball off-course; trying to use magic to keep his pins from falling over; slipperizing the bowling alley floor in hopes Ais will fall down midroll; using magic to boost his OWN bowling abilities; making Ais's bowling ball Extremely Sticky; collapsing a ceiling tile on his head; and summoning some grandma with an unruly tiny dog that doesn't speak common Eridian language in hopes Ais will be distracted (he is)

Ais is fully aware of this and is making a point of not calling him out on it. He will win DESPITE Leander's antics, god damnit.

they tie on the last frame and Leander is overjoyed

Ais is like "GG buddy" and gives him a clap on the shoulder that's a Bit Too Hard and offers him a handshake that squeezes a Bit Too Hard and gives him his signature sardonic grin that communicates "i fucking knew what you were up to, cocksucker"

Leander is like "(nervously strained laugh)...yeah great game!"

Mhin, who finished their sundae and stuck around only to see that they beat Vere [and Kuras] by 2 points, hovers awkwardly until they get their chance to say goodbye to Kuras and Leander so they can Leave

Kuras wants to get back to work asap. unfortunately he let himself have a pretty good time so now hes gotta make up for it by atoning (suffering through work ) extra hard

Vere comes from out back licking blood off the back of his hand. the bowling alley manager is also permanently missing, unrelatedly

Ais and Leander are going to go drink each other under the table at some establishment "with better liquor than the wet wick." as if they weren't already drinking all the beer the bowling alley has. Vere tags along because it's an establishment he actually likes— he's Almost had too much Leander for the day but not enough to keep him from decent food and music

just for u here’s a worldbuilding-y thing i realized i had never like. summarized.

so holograms are a very common thing in athela (they were originally invented there and their ubiquity is kind of an Athela Thing ™). a good example of this would be their AIs— which in this world stands for ‘artificial interactive’. specifically what an AI is is a holographic character that conversationally relays information from a database. that can be a lot of things, but unless you’re in a specialized tech field, you’ll mostly see them in simple-ish people-facing jobs, like front desk or retail. (far from All retail/etc jobs have adopted AIs, but they’re common at chain stores, or as a kind of bonus/back-up employee should the situation require it.)

majority of the time, AIs appear as humanoid figures with a symbol for a head (usually this symbol is relevant to the business they’re a part of, or a simplified version of the company logo). they’re also monochromatic holograms, so they’re only a single color.

the reason for this is that most AI are run on pretty inexpensive systems, and the ‘body’ isn’t necessarily the main focus; it’s more to help people interact with it more comfortably. these bodies are basically 3d models that are being posed in real time and then projected, so the simpler the rig and ‘model’, the easier they run.

original AIs tried to have fully-detailed tiny people, but ran either very slowly or at a frustratingly high cost. then people tried cutting out the body and just doing expressive facial busts, but those were… a bit uncanny. so the ‘no face, expressive body’ AI came about, and became the most popular option pretty quickly.

Okay I haven’t posted here for awhile BUT YOU KNOW WHAT I have a few Zerhys AUs that I’ve written stuff for in my google docs and idk if I’ll ever actually post anything because most of my fanfic writing time is for P0is0ned and this is just stuff I messily type up on my phone sometimes BUT:

BL2 AU: Rhys ends up on the train that Jack blows up at the beginning (like Vasquez set him up with a fake job down on Pandora or something IDK???) and thus ends up stuck with the Vault hunters, who naturally are initially distrustful of him but can’t justify just killing him. Jack realizes “oh shit one of my employees is down there with the Vault hunters, I have an extra card at my disposal besides just Angel” and contacts Rhys like “hey if you work with me here and spy on them and stuff I’ll get you back to Helios and get you a huge promotion” and Rhys is like “Sure I don’t see why not, these people are dicks” (headcanon that early in BL2 Zer0 is like, just the biggest “I don’t need friends” asshole).  Except then he does end up seeing why not as he starts warming up to these people (especially Zer0, because, yeah) but by then he’s already been selling him out and sabotaging them. (Bonus Rhys+Angel bonding at some point because they are in a very similar boat? And look I cannot just make this about Zerhys I love Borderlands 2 so so much) 

2. AU where immediately post-BL2 Rhys, Vaughn, and Yvette are among the Hyperions stranded on Pandora, and much like the Crimson Lance soldiers before them they turn to banditry. Rhys has Handsome Jack AI in his head at this point, and with Jack’s help he’s able to take charge as a very unlikely bandit leader. He carefully avoids doing anything that will call too much attention to his clan, trying to focus on survival more than anything.  This becomes a problem when some of his dumbass underlings manage to subdue and capture Zer0. Jack warns him against freeing Zer0, claiming they’ll likely kill him and bring Sanctuary’s wrath down on the clan. However, keeping Zer0 hostage or killing them seem equally risky options. Zer0 gets to sit in a cell and watch Rhys argue with himself, occasionally trying to work things out with him. 

3. Medieval fantasy bullshit. Hi I love medieval fantasy bullshit what if Rhys was a lord and Zer0 was some weirdo possibly-demonic hedge knight and medieval forbidden romance happens. Scandal occurs because of Zer0 being a weirdo possibly-demonic hedge knight. What if Lancelot and Guinevere shit except it ends good and no one joins any churches? Just the parts with the daring heroics and stuff. I don’t have good specific details for this. Just...Knights... 

4. A less well-socialized "only lives to be an assassin” Zer0 is hired to kill Rhys but then some bandits almost kill steal them as they’re following him. It is a matter of honor that they do not just allow this to happen and just take credit for someone else’s kill, so they save him- but by that point he’s been beaten up enough that he’s a little too pathetic to kill. Zer0 thinks “I’ll kill him later” and gets him to safety but by then he has already begun to endear himself to them. Later they’re waiting for the right moment to strike and Rhys will like see them lurking ominously in the shadows and go “Hey Zer0! How’s it going?” and then later he’s straight up asking for them to help him out with his “bandits want me dead” problem. Of course Rhys eventually finds out “oh you were planning to kill me” because conflict must happen. :) 

5. Something something Rhys is actually forced into being a janitor and Hyperion has Zer0 in R&D doing tests on them. As far as Rhys knows they’re a fucked up monster because they keep killing people. Then he actually encounters them and wow I know this sounds Shape of Water but this actually came out of thinking about befriending Jurassic World hybrids lmao. Because Zer0 is the indoraptor. To me.

Also it's important to me that you know he has a British accent for literally no reason, that's just how Herta programmed him. She refuses to elaborate on this point. He's just stuck with it.

Character Details : Initially known as HertAI Assistant V3 R-54, Versa has exceeded all of Herta's expectations, including longevity and capacity for learning. Due to this, he inhabits an integrated android frame similar to Herta's remote puppets on the station and continues to assist not only Madame Herta but other researchers as needed. Boredom does occur infrequently, however, and this android finds himself dreaming not of electric sheep, but of the stars beyond the reinforced windows of the station.

About Self - [Android] : This body is built in a similar fashion to Madam Herta's remote bodies, although modified for personal taste and efficiency. Taller bodies are able to walk more quickly, after all. 

About Self - [AI] : As an older model, I am not exactly as useful to Madam Herta as I was at creation, but I am still at 100% of my original capabilities, and that's certainly more than enough to assist around the station. 

Chat - [The Express] : I imagine you've been to so many interesting places… (sigh) I do like it here, but every time the stars out there catch my eye I find myself wondering what it's like to see everything with my own eyes instead of pulling up geomaps and metrics online…

Hobbies : I have very little spare time, but I do enjoy assisting maintenance with robotics repairs when I'm able. I do a large amount of my own routine maintenance and find it soothing to do on other non-organics as well.

Annoyances : Humans have such terrible internal clocks. I am constantly reminding people of scheduled arrangements, waiting for someone to arrive, and having to reschedule meeting time when no one's called to check if they've double booked. I suppose I shall have to content myself with the fact that I, at least, will never be late.

Something to Share : Recently I've given more thought to decorating my quarters. I've noticed most of the researchers have things like photographs and mementos at their desks and in their offices, things that hold significance for them… Perhaps I will be able to decorate with travel photos someday.

Knowledge : There is little knowledge I cannot get my hands on, as long as it is available online or in the station’s data repositories. I hear the Astral Express has a considerable data bank, however. I would love to see what sort of information the Nameless have compiled over their long journeys.

About Herta : Even if she was not my creator, I believe I would respect her as deeply as I do now. Her intelligence and innovations are beyond comparison to anything else in this world.

About Asta : I often serve as a go-between for Miss Asta and Madame Herta for matters concerning the station. She may seem a bit air-headed upon first glance, but behind that sunny exterior lies a backbone of stainless steel.

Assassin Creed x Stanley parable swap?

More likely than you think!

I truly can't help but find quite a few similarities with Stanley and Desmond- as well as a certain overlooked employee turned timekeeper and Clay(subject 16). I couldn't just NOT doodle a swap.

Also enjoy a silly comic of Desmond after being isekaid into the parable as Stanley. (And a few little headcanons afterwards)

So bonus little headcanons/ideas for this very very silly crossover/switch.

Desmond and Clay are thrown into the parable during the events of Revelations (most likely by some shenanigans involving the black room and code leftover from the original Isu device they based the animus upon... but instead of being *transported* there as themselves, they end up swapping identities with two certain employees... as such, everyone in their universes see them *as* those characters.

- the parable in this Au would most likely be some isu prototype to see if they could create an ai that was all powerful but also very human (possibly simulate what may happen if humans gained free will?). Going by this, the Narrator would be the sentient Ai meant to run the parable over and over again.. but before the Isu could end it, they were all near completely wiped out and leaving the Narrator to constantly run his parable again...and again...and again.

The Nareator is no longer aware that was his original purpose- having been so long ago. As such he is fully sentient even *if* he doesn't actually have a form(a headcanon I have for my actual Narrator).

Stanley, as well as all the other employees, were humans whose minds were uploaded to the parable.

Desmond has a hard time getting used to the Narrator - and unlike Stanley, he isn't afraid to call him out on it (also freak him out with 'Stanley's' sudden Parkour abilities)... but will often just follow alone until he and Clay cam figure out how to get back to their 'real' world...

Clay however... well, let's just say he absolutely *enjoys* messing with the narrator as the new timekeeper. In his life he was a hacker, and months in the blackroom made that even *easier*. So imagine a man with too much time on his hands finally able to something in retaliation for all the shit he went through.

Poor Narrator is the punching bag given he is a creation of the Isu and reminds Clay way too much of Juno sometimes.

Low participation and automated production means the strike is unlikely to have a significant impact on output at the world's biggest memory chipmaker, analysts said. Still, it signals a decline in staff morale at a pivotal point in the chip industry as tech firms embrace artificial intelligence.

The union's first industrial action last month involved coordinating annual leave to stage a mass walkout, which Samsung said had no impact on business activity. The firm said on Monday there was no disruption in production.

The union, which did not disclose last month's strike participation levels, said 6,540 workers will be striking this week, mostly at manufacturing sites and in product development. It said the strike includes workers who monitor automated production lines and equipment so operations could be affected.

Union officials said about 3,000 strikers attended a rally in the rain near Samsung's headquarters in Hwaseong, south of Seoul.

Union president Son Woo-mok disputed media reports of low participation, telling Reuters that the five-year-old union did not have enough time to educate members about the issues.

"Education about labour unions ... has not been enough. But I don't think this participation is low because our union is still young compared to other unions," he said.

Lee Hyun-kuk, the union's vice president, said there could be further strikes if Samsung does not improve its proposals.

Samsung's proposals include flexibility in pay and annual leave conditions but do not meet union demands of increased pay and leave, Lee told Reuters.

Union officials also want equality in the bonus system. They said bonuses for rank-and-file workers are calculated by deducting the cost of capital from operating profit, whereas those for executives are based on personal performance goals.

"I was telling people that I was proud to work at Samsung, but the truth is I am not," said Park Jun-ha, 20, an engineer at Samsung's chip packaging lines who joined the firm in January, adding that he was not satisfied with its "opaque" bonus scheme.

The union's membership has grown since Samsung pledged in 2020 to stop discouraging organised labour. Its growing voice is demanding attention just as Samsung struggles to navigate competition in chips used for artificial intelligence (AI) applications, analysts said.

Samsung's share price performance has lagged compatriot chip rival SK Hynix (000660.KS), opens new tab, with union officials blaming Samsung's AI woe on slow development in high bandwidth memory (HBM) chips that are in high demand for use in AI processors.

Even so, Samsung estimated a more than 15-fold rise in second-quarter operating profit on Friday, as rebounding chip prices driven by the AI boom lifted earnings from the year prior's low comparison base.

Its share price was up 0.2% in afternoon trade on Monday after rising as much as 1.72% earlier in the session to its highest since January 2021. Last week, it jumped 6.9% on preliminary quarterly earnings that exceeded analyst estimates.
