My favourite parts of Quackity’s MCC practice stream
- Quackity making the prize money that he owes George, my theory is its so that George cant pull his classic “this is boring, im leaving” bit that he pulls on Quackity.
- Quackity blaming the glow on the pots in battlebox for his lag.
- Quackity trying to get everyone to hug him contantly
- Tommy saying “Hello!” in an Australian accent (the way Wilbur sometimes does) when he joins the call and George being extremely confused.
- Quackity and George de-branding Jack Manifold by calling him Thunder the whole time.
- “Skeppy, get ready for cock pics”
- George roasting Quackity but also giving him tips because he wants him to improve and Quackity is working hard to get better.
- George randomly screaming at some point and disappearing for a minute then reappearing like nothing happened????
- Quackity explaining to Tommy what dogwater means
- Sapnap clowning Quackity in parkour tag
- “Jump down if you’re not a pussy. Jump down if you’re not a- oh.”
- Sapnap had long since jumped down.
- Jack trying to suck up to George for the entire 2 1/2 hour stream
- Mefs joining them to even out the teams (don’t know who he is but I always see him in the background of mcc streams and he was cool)
- Scott joined and kicked Jack from the MCC practice server and took his place in Q’s tournament. (he was let back in a little after)
- Dababy is in Quackity’s chat.
- George clutching dodgebolt, as per usual.
- Scott beefing with Jack the whole time.
- Q saying “owns the whole tournament, can’t even win one” about Scott so Scott kicks him from the server.
- George fighting his own teammates so he can get all the arrows for a 4v1
- George and Dream fighting and Quackity just yelling “STOP FLIRTING AND DO SOMETHING”
- Sapnap begging Dream to give him a chance so he can beat George and Dream complying and actually encouraging him (brother behaviour)
- Dream standing in front of George so he can’t aim
- Bad continously goes afk and they make jokes about him snapchatting Skeppy.
- Tommy rejoining and asking if theres room and when they say no theres a long pause before he drops an uncharacteristically sad “... please:((..”
- George pausing for a long time with both arrows and his team all gathering around him and shushing like they’re comforting a child.
- “Think of all the manhunts you’ve won, George”
- Tommy watching from the steps in a boat.
- Dream says that George is a different person from Gogy?? Weird new George lore dropped???
- Tommy joins dodgebolt in Bads place but the others make him leave and he goes “I’m too tired to fight”
- Jack breaking free of the hold that George has over him and shooting him in dodgebolt right after George says “Jack don’t kill me. I trust you Jack.”
- George getting increasingly frantic as they start to tie on points because it’s money that Quackity owes him.
- George and Sapnap both targetting eachother because they’re tied
- A bunch of arrows keep spawning and even Scott doesn’t know why, messing up the round, causing fights between the three tied players (mostly because two of them are Sapnap and George and they love to fight eachother)
- Everyone trying to fix the game while Quackity tries to convince them to do 1v1v1 another time so he can end stream before realising he was muted the whole time.
Also not really part of the stream but he opend his priv and I got in so :)
add more if you guys like.

Brothers anon, it makes me really happy and comforts me that you enjoy reading what I submit. It makes me really happy to write all of this and finally be able to tell someone my ideas. Thank you so much.
At first he kept trying to deny the father figure role, but when one night Jackie had a nightmare and came to him and ended up calling him dad, he stopped denying it and accepted it. And once he accepted it he did basically adopt all of them. Jackie and Grievous are literally chaos incarnate most days. They regularly love to prank the contestants and just act insane. Ran and Jackie just kind of hang around eachother, like Ran could be reading and Jackie training and they'd enjoy eachothers company. They do sometimes nap next to eachother, or play card games (which is a rare instance where Ran gets (playfully) rilled up and competitive). Grievous and Ran bonding sadly gets interrupted when Ranbob suddenly drops in, but before that Grievous would try to talk to Ran about what book he's reading and just try to make conversation with him.
Oh the height difference definitely remains. And its both terrifying and hailours to new people. It's even better when it's a 2v2 fight because Jackie has a habit of just climbing Ran like a monkey gym and sitting on his shoulders and its terrifying.
Well, since the drinking age is 3, I personally think the age limit is like 14 or something close. I believe I made their ages as Ran is 19 (almost 20. Maybe 4 months away), Jackie is 16, Watson is 30 something, Grievous is 22, and Ranbob is 28 (Ran is younger than his brother by 9 years) I have written down all their ages somewhere (and the ages where the events of Mizu took place) and if I got any wrong I will submit another ask with their ages. The other gladiators have managed to keep good relationships with most of eachother. A few like Grievous and Genevieve are close, Edward, Levi, and Watson are drinking buddies. Lagguis sadly isn't as involved cause he is sick and can't vist often at all. (I think I got everyone. Tell me if I missed anyone please, I cant check cause whenever I exit tumblr, tumblr deletes everything in my ask :') )
I dont have many rules for the Pit rn but I do have, no injuries that could cause long term or chronic damage, no sabotaging opponents, no teaming unless its a team round, no blackmail or anything of the sort to force an opponent to forfeit, and in order for a battle to end due to forfeit both sides must agree to it. But the Pit in general is a lot of things, there's fights for money, fame, and positions (like general). There's tournaments meant for nothing other than to show skill and just to fight your heart out. It's open to anyone above 14 and anyone under 80, to people from Subbin to those just passing through.
And there are different battles in the Pit, theres singles, the ones we saw in the Tales of the SMP episode. Teams, where teams of 2 battles against eachother. Free-for-all, where literally everyone fights against eachother. And Ion battles, battles where there are super powered weapons (like flame 2 iron sword. Or strength 3 potions) that spawn in the area at random. Typically Ran and Watson work best toghere, as their strategists and plan everything with back up plans, and they always call out warnings and watch eachothers back so its incredibly hard to actually hit them. And Jackie and Grievous work best toghere, with the two going insane and often taking people by surprise with their unmeasure and randomized movements and attacks.
At the start Ranbob was completely under Dreams thrall, not being able to really think for himself and even foregoing self care. When Ranbob starts to become himself again the fishermen are more than confused and hesitant, with Cletus especially stating multiple times that it may just be a trick. So it takes a while but Isaac actually is the one to suggest maybe it isn't a trick, and has to do with the mask that was found. This is later confirmed when the mask is brought to the group and Ranbob has a massive negative reaction that sets him back to how he was when they first met him.
Im honestly not sure yet, I think I want it to be a 'lets never go back' type thing but im not positive yet.
I dont have a solid backstory for the fishermen, but I know I want a little bit of it to tie to the story. Do you have any ideas for their backstory or nah? I do know I want them to have met eachother while they where in unfortunate situations and because of those they got family level close.
Ranbob doesn't take the little space well at first; staying outside when able too, even though that really upset Benjamin; and Ranbob has no idea how the outside works and has no idea how to read the weather or what he can and cant eat, but hey the enderman boi is trying his best to make up for everything he's done. And trying to build his own house to not impose on the fishermen (much like Ranboo did with Techno), but Benjamin wouldn't accept that and kept dragging him inside. It wasn't that hard for Benjamin, Isaac, and Charles to get used to Ranbob, already being used to sharing a small house, it was more Cletus with him refusing to leave Ranbob alone even for a second because he doesn't trust Ranbob at all.
The two groups actually get along surprisingly well! They like eachother and Watson once said, "It was like a family reunion. Or like long lost siblings finally found their way home."
I am once again not sure! Originally I planned for them to stay in Subbin and in the Pit. But the more I think about it the more boring that is and more I like the idea of the groups traveling toghere in the world.
I like this question! So enderman travel in groups called hauntings right? I personally headcanon the enderman in this group are basically family, biological or not. And ever since Ran and Ranbob lost their family they lost their haunting, which can be mentally damaging to a enderman. Once Ran found Waston, Jackie, and Grievous and started hanging around them more, he started feeling a connection ot them he hasn't felt on a long time. He's claimed them, as his haunting, his family. And he'll defend them with his life against anyone and anything. And then suddenly Ranbob came in, a enderman that should be part of his haunting but isn't, a enderman that killed his previous haunting. So Ran is incredibly defensive over his group, and is trying his best to keep Ranbob as far from his haunting as possible, to protect them.
Now Ranbob also got a haunting, his being Charles, Isaac, Benjamin, and even Cletus. So Ranbob is also defensive over his family. But unlike Ran, Ranbob still considers his brother as part of his haunting, his family (and yes, Ranbob did think Ran was dead when he first chased him out years ago, so he's shocked and relieved that his baby brother is still alive). And he sees how his family gets along so well with Rans family and then starts to even consider Rans haunting part of Ranbob's. Basically Ranbob has a big heart and is willing to accept almost anyone into his family, no matter what they've done.
Yep, the reason Porkius is so interested in Ran is because he's an enderman hybrid. And no one else is a hybrid expect for the two brothers (and Porkius, with him being a piglin hybrid).
Porkius is excited! He's excited to see what happens and is more than happy to agree to help as long as he is kept in the loop. Though unless he's directly asked to be involved he prefers watching from a distance at whats happening. Just so he doesn't get mauled by a pissed off enderman.
Sorry for any spelling mistakes (its late) and its so long! Im probably going to try to shorten them.
I’m glad you’re happy, it’s a nice thing to feel. Your ideas are really cool, and I hope I’ll get to see more of them in the future.
Now, can I simply say how adorable so much of this is? Jackie going to Watson when he had a nightmare, the Rans being protective of their groups, Jackie climbing Ran? I love that, it’s very heartwarming and cute, and it made me smile.
So Watson wasn’t really sure what to do with his new title at first, hm? And then Jackie called him dad? How’d he feel about that? How’d Jackie feel about the slip? Or did he even notice? He’s parenting them all, he’s gonna have a dad voice and everything. How do the adopted ones feel about him embracing it?
Jackie and Grievous, two people to truly fear when they wish to cause havoc. Tremble before them. Do they prank people, or do they just become absolute madmen on the battlefield? Or something else. Honestly, anything with these two just instantly makes me amused.
Jackie and Ran being chill buddies. very nice. Ran getting competitive over card games is a funny thought. Does he win often? Does Jackie? What kind of card games do they play?
Rather sad Ran and Grievous bonding is interrupted, but it’s nice to hear Grievous trying it. Hopefully they’ll get there someday.
Oh my god, it’s the height difference. Jackie getting on Ran’s shoulder sounds absolutely terrifying. Imagine being some poor new guy pitted against these gremlins and the short ones climbs on the tall ones shoulder-both look absolutely gleeful with the destruction they’re about to wreak, and you already know you cannot outrun them.
Jackie...Jackie...he’s da youngest. He’s small, and young, and you have no idea how much I’m laughing at this. I don’t even know why, it’s just really, really funny to me. Probably something to do with what a complete force of chaos we all know this boy is. Oddly fitting, but hilarious. How does Jackie feel about this?
How do the others? Are they a bit more protective over him? Does Ran like to flaunt his three years more over him?
Grievous and Genevieve are buddies! Very nice, they seem to have a good dynamic. Watson, Edward, and Levi also being close? Very interesting, has a lot of potential. I bet they share a lot of funny stories.
So we’ve established the basics of The Pit. Doesn’t seem too bad, for a fighting arena, to be honest. Seems pretty popular, actually. Do the gladiators live there? In the palace? Or do they just have a house somewhere nearby? What kind of establishments and areas are around? Food places, stores?
So Ran and Watson are the scariest team because of their strategy, and Jackie and Grievous are the scariest team because of their randomness? It checks out. I’m curious though, how do the other combinations work out?
Ranbob sounds like he has a less than fun time here, and the poor guy could really use some closure. What’s he like, free from the influence of the mask? He seems pretty close to Benjamin, so at least he’s got that going for him. Though he and Cletus don’t seem to have the strongest bond at first. How is that resolved?
And how does Ran feel about his brother’s new haunting, after everything? I imagine that he’s at least a little bit unhappy with it, for one reason or another-and there’s quite a few reasons for him to pick from.
How did that house-building attempt go, between Ran never being above water, and probably never building a house before? I can’t imagine too well.
Some ideas for backstory, well, hm. Isaac seemed dressed a bit fancier than the others, perhaps he comes from a richer family than the others? That’s about all I’ve got for now, sorry.
It’s nice to hear they got along, who clicks the easiest?
Possible road trip? Always fun.
So, the enderman hybrids have adopted their respective groups as their hauntings. You’ve mentioned Ranbob’s pretty cool with this, how does Ran feel? Obviously, he’s less than pleased with Ranbob, but what about the fishermen? Protective Ran and Ranbob! How protective exactly? Is it subtle, or overbearing at times? Actually, how do their instincts lead to them interacting with their groups overall?
Porkius must not see Ender hybrids too often, if he’s so interested in them. It’s nice that he’s willing to help out though, and his concern is valid. I wouldn’t want an angry enderman hybrid after me either.
Are hybrids not overly common, then, if there’s only Ran, Ranbob, and Porkius around currently, or are they just not mentioned a lot?
Thanks for the ask, a lot of it made me smile. I enjoyed reading it, and I hope you’ll be willing to send more when you have the time.

So earlier i put in the tags of a reblog about how i basically grew up on super smash bros machinima series. Which, firstly, why brand as machinima? Most of the ones I watched didn't seem to have a tie to that channel. Well, it could be that 'machinima' was used interchangeably with 'video game parody', but I digress.
Anyway, there was fwo series I remember above all else. Smash King, and SmasherZ. Both of which sound really bad out of context. Okay okay, but like??? They were pretty okay? Obviously were drenched in old internet cheese and laughable mic quality, but still good to me.
But like, to my memory they both hold up as gold bars in my personal interest trash pile. Smash King by Tigura21 took very interesting approaches to its characters, playing off the established Nintendo faces, but in a different light. Given that even in-universe, they're all trophies of the characters, not the real deals. V interesting concept. Not to mention it??? Does a tournament story pretty well??? A good handful of ssbb machinamas had tournament centric stories. This is still a fighting game. But, the tournament became set dressing for the bigger fantasy politics that starts to entagle the gang after a while.
Only downsides I can remember are Meta Knight and Pit, given that their trophies' personalities are tacky, and would probably be called poor taste if they were made like that today. But what can you do with old internet media, huh?
And then there's SmasherZ by TheRollinNolan, a piece of utterly cursed nonsense I still think about and giggle. If Smash King took the serious approach to defining the characters separate from their faces, SmasherZ throws a metal chair at it. If I'm recalling correctly, Sonic the Hedgehog gets thrown from the game world into the rel world because he's framed for a crime by the bad guys who are trying to revive this all powerful Bowser recolor so he can translate fench. And it escalates! Fuck! This show is so fucking silly i cant- And even with that there's some pretty cool moments for everyone. Again, there's a bit of older humor, namely relating to a mr saturn that announces when gay people are born i cant even- but its still so fucking ridiculous to me. Its kinda short so like it won't eat up half your time watching.
And then you can yearn for endings that will never come with me. Because both of these are unfinished, and i need closure dammit!
Anyway this is why I'm uncultured

Fairy tail head cannon
When Laxus became master he implimented 'the battle of fairy tail" almost immdently
Of course it wasnt a battle royal where you fight to the death and only one survived. In fact there was no fighting (with fist at least) at all.
It was a huge paint ball tournament! And there was three ways to receive a win. Get the most head shots, last the longest or find the 'capture' the master.
The whole guild prepare for the tournament cause its before S class trials and its a great way to show the master what you got!
Even the S class themselves play. There worth extra points though so alot of people are after there heads.
The battle usually last about a week the longest theyve played was two after that they implemented a 'no magic' rule after five days.
Freed is the spectator and keeps track of whose shot who, where the players are, whose in and whose is out.
This of course means he cant play. Until the five day rule hits then he has free range.
No one wants that cause he played the first few games they ever done and wiped out the competition in a matter of two day. He was calculated cunny and dead set on winning.
Natsu is always a huge target cause of how bad he is at hiding. But he usally has a lot of head shots under his belt before being taken out himself.
They used to play in Magnolia but now have to play at Tenrou after a literal painting of the town incidents.
It was good in theory but Erza had alot of cleaning up to do.
Capture the master is one of the most rarest wins one could have the only two to actually do it was Mira and Freed
And Guildarts to but that was by complete accident.
Somehow.
Asuka is mad competitive and will snipper shot her father out of the game no problem.
Her mother not so much
There has been a rule made for Lucy specify.
Rule #462 Lucy is not allowed to hide in Horologium at any point of the game.
Rule #463 Virgo is not allowed to take a paint ball for Lucy.
Rule #464 neither is Loki
Rule #465 that doesnt mean you can Natsu!!
Laxus is not allowed to play the game even if he could. Cause as Mira scolded striking everyone with lighting simultaneously does not mean you win.
Grey is always out quickly because a trail of his clothes lead you right to him.
Juvia used to hide in the water until they started catching on and threated to start taking baths in what ever water she was in.
Cana is the most cunning when it come to placeing 'card paint traps'
Bixslow is always found out becuase his babies wont stop giggling.
Max thought hiding himself in sand was he almost suffocated on it.
Mira and Erza almost always tie with there head count. Its a subtle fued and they try to beat each other every year.
They always take each other out at the same time.
Jellal and Laxus hear all about it.
Cobra had won the awared for staying hidden the longest with a record t ofwo weeks.
Levi always has Jet and Droy on her head shot list cause they refuse to run from her.
But they cant shoot her either.
Gajeel laughed at this until he was faced with the same problem.
Happy is the local go to man. Got someone to spite? Waited all year for this moment for revenge? Go to him and he'll direct you where you need to go.
While Wendy tries to stay neutral during the game everyone knows shes tracking Cobra.
Laki tries to disguise herself as a tree on several occasions. But the wood always look to clean and polished.
Food is provided and there is a 'Safe Place' to eat. But its an unspoken rule not to go there.
Kinana has to end up sneaking food out the back for those who want it.
Elfmen is a huge target and gets the most paint splatters then anyone else.
The raining champ is Guildarts and usually he dosnt even seem to be trying.
This makes him a huge targer
That no one can find
But bless Natsu cause he tries
Though going around calling out his name never seems to work out for him.
Natsu also once though is he walked around with fire encasing his body he was untouchable. He was mostly right but the people of Mongolia really didnt like it.
Just another reason to play on tenrou
Though Makarov told him if he charred there sacred Island he'll char his head
Cana usually gets the most headshots.

#443 Shrubsole EATS, BITES and CHEWS all Indian women cricket team's SOULs; India choked from 191-3 to 219 all out as they lost by 9 runs; Raut played brilliantly for 86 and Goswami was stupendous as well; In day of PANIC, Spieth cant be far behind as he loses 3 shot lead again on final day; Spieth is tied with Kuchar at 8 under with 4 holes to play and more...:-)
<p>In all important ICC womens champions trophy final, England won the toss and elected to bat. Both the sides remain unchanged which was not a surprise. From India only question was inclusion of Bisht as she had done well against England earlier. But Gayakwad and Poonam have not done anything wrong . So it was understandable. Goswami was on the mark right form the word go. She just gave 9 runs from her first 5 overs. But Pandey was expensive the other end. Ball was swinging in first 5 overs but ENgland openers Winfield and Beaumont. Winfield was given LBW earlier but ENgland reviewed and won the decision. In bvery enxt over, Sushma Verma dropped Beaumont of Gayakwad. Things were going England way as they raced to 47-0 in 9th over. Mithali inroduced spin at both ends. Gayakwad and Deepti initialy and then later Poonam. Gayakwad castled Winfield when ENgland opener tried to sweep. Poonam had dream start as she dismissed Baumont of a full toss first. She then scalped Knight plumb in front. From 47-0, ENgland were reduced to 63-3. Sciver who had hit 2 centuries in this series joined Sarah Taylor. ENgland top order were struggling when they tried sweeping the ball. Sciver started taking the ball on the up and hitting from outside the crease. Suddenly runs started to flow. They both looked untroubled as they crossed 50 stand and got ENgland back in front. They had reached 146-3 by 33rd over. They looked good to get 260+. Thats when Indian veteran Jhulan Goswami turned the match on its head. She dismissed Taylor first who was caught behind. Taylor who had hit maximum boundaries in this tournament didnt hit even one in her knock of 46  of 62 balls. Strike rate was still good though she didnt get any boundaries. If that blow was not enough, Goswami trapped dangerous Wilson plumb in front of very first delivery. 4 overs later, she trapped Sciver plumb as well. From 146-3 in 32, they reached 164-6 of 37. That was quite a match winning effort by Goswami who ended her spell with 3-23. Brunt, Gun and Marsh then played cameos and took England to a competitive score of 228-7. They looked good for 260. But last 10 overs was good for them as they looked like getting allout under 200 as well.  This is India's golden chance to win their first even world cup.England started brilliantly as Shrubsole dismissed out of form Mandhana for duck. She started brilliantly with 90 and 106 in first 2 inings. But ever since, she has been found wanting. She was castled of a moving ball today. Pressure was back on Mithali's shoes. Mithali and Raut played cautiously. raut was the aggressor of the 2. Both took India to 43-1 by 12 overs. Thats when Mithali got runout which was totally unncessary. She didnt even dive in what could be her last ODI innings. Kaur joined Raut. Kaur was either blocking or hitting boundaries. Her first 37 balls had 17 runs scored. Of that there was a four and a six. That was not smart batting in finals. Raut was rotating well though. Both had 95 run stand of 21 overs. Kaur was caught at find leg of Hartley just after reaching fifty. Platform was set though. India needed 91 of 99 when she got out. Raut had life after that taylor missed stumping chance. Veda was dropped by Knight as well. That gave India some breather. Both scored briskly post that. They had 53 run stand . Thats when Raut got out to 86. It was exactly the same score she scored against ENgland in opener. India sent Sushma Verma ahead of Deepti. She was castled for duck by Hartley. India needed 32 of 39 by this time. It was run a ball. There was no need for risk. But Veda for hits too many. She got out for 35. India 200-6. India choked from 191-3 to 200-6. It was all of a sudden England's game to lose. Shrubsole and Hartley brought england right back. Shrubsole picked her 4th wicket by bowling Goswami for a golden duck. India 201-7. India needed 28 of last 5 with just 3 wickets in hand. It then became 21 of 24 as Deepti took India closer. When 17 was needed 21 , Deepti was stumped by Taylor. But there wss no concuisve evidence. Deepti got saved. Was this the luck which India needed??? India needed 14 of last 3 overs. It was a nail biting finish which this wonderful tournament well deserved. But who would pick the trophy?? Who would hold their nerve??  Thats when India started showing more nerves. India threw away another wicket in the form of runout. India needed 11 of 15 when Pandey was runout. India 218-8. Deepti had to playout for India if they need to cross the boundary. Tie was also not ruled out. Poonam played out 48th over. India needed 11 of last 2 overs. Shrubsole decided that it was her match as she dismissed Deepti of first ball. So India collapsed from 191-3 to 218-9. That can be very hard to digest if you are in Mithali Raj's shoes or Raut's shoes. Shrubsole castled Gayakwad for a duck. England won by 9 runs. Veda's dismissal was key as she was going for shots of all balls. That was not right strategy. </p>
<p>Jordan Spieth is a player who can get nervous on final day of a major. She had 5 shot lead in last eyars Masters while turning to back nine but still lost. Similar vibes started here in Royal Birkdale. He had 3 bogeysof first 4 holes. By now Kuchar had scored 1 birdie. So he temporarily tied for lead. But He scored a bogey right in 3rd hole. SPieth hit a brilliant birdie in 5th hole. By end of 5th hole, Spieth was at 9 under and lead by 1 of Kuchar. Koepka who was 6 strokes behind at start of day started poorly. He scored 2 bogeys in first 7 holes and got out contention. Li Haotong was leader in clubhouse early after hitting spellbinding  63. He ended  at 6 under. So Kuchar and Spieth had to better that. 9th hole proved to be turning point again. Spieth scored a bogey and Kuchar scored a birdie. Both turned to back nine tied at 8 under. Spieth was again in panic mode in final round. For 63 holes, Spieth almost lead the cup but still he could lose. Thats nerves. Both saved pars in first 3 holes in back nine. Mcolroy ended at 5 under.SPieth bogeyed 13th to concede lead and birdied 14th hole to be back tied for lead. </p>

The Forgotten Story of … the 1966 Masters | Scott Murray
How Jack Nicklaus overcame grief at the death of a friend and inconsistency on the course to become the first man to win back-to-back Green Jackets
Arnold Palmer wasnt particularly happy with his short game. There were only a couple of days to go before the start of the 30th Masters Tournament, and he was already struggling to make his wedges and putter talk on glacial greens which were only going to get faster once the Augusta greenkeeper took one last wheel around the place on his mower.
So shortly after breakfast on Tuesday morning, Palmer set off in his personal twin-engine jet to Chattanooga, a couple of hundred miles away. He collected a new pitching wedge and a couple of putters, made some alterations to the wedge he was already using, and was back at Augusta National in time for coffee at elevenses. The most expensive club repair of all time? Probably. But certainly the most stylish. You have got to love Arnie.
The gentle whimsy of Palmers 500mph groove-tweaking jaunt was, sad to say, not the sole aviation story that required reporting on the eve of the Masters. Tragedy struck the defending champion Jack Nicklaus hours before he was due to tee off, when he was told four close friends from his home town of Columbus, Ohio, including childhood playing partner Bob Barton, had been killed in a plane crash en route to Augusta. Im heart sick, whispered a crestfallen Nicklaus. Bob and I grew up together. We started playing golf together. Ive lost a great friend. Still, the show had to go on, and he made an earnest promise: This tragedy has made me much more determined in what I hope to do this week.
As ever at Augusta, the stars of yesteryear were in attendance. Heres the legendary Guardian writer Pat Ward-Thomas, with a contemporaneous roll call of the old masters whose golf down the generations has given the occasion its stature the imperishable spirit of Bob Jones has overcome his grievous affliction and he is in his cottage across the way by the last green the ageless Gene Sarazen Craig Wood, so youthful looking and handsome that it is hard to believe he tied for the Open at St Andrews more than 30 years ago the great Byron Nelson who this afternoon was presented with a replica of the Ryder Cup by his team Jimmy Demaret, Cary Middlecoff, Sam Snead and Ben Hogan, the mightiest of all, the shots pure as the light still gleaming from his clubs. His presence is no sentimental gesture.
Ward-Thomas had that damn straight. I am not here for sentimental reasons, confirmed the 53-year-old, nine-time major winning, two-time Augusta-taming Iceman. I am here to win.
Also raging against the dying of the light, albeit in a more gentle form, were the 1908 US Open champion Fred McLeod and Jock Hutchinson, winner of the Open Championship in 1921, the first American to do so, albeit a naturalised one, born and raised in St Andrews. (Amazingly, that Open win was very nearly not Hutchinsons most notable feat that year. During his march to the Championship, he came breathtakingly close to recording two hole in ones in a row, having aced the 8th before hitting his drive at the short par-four 9th to a couple of inches. But we digress.)

McLeod and Hutchinson, octogenarians both, creamed ceremonial opening drives down Tea Olive, then played the front nine for stakes of a beer a hole.
With the 1966 Masters under way, the grieving but steel-willed Nicklaus took early control.
He had been woefully out of form, having failed to win a tournament in six months. (And they say Jordan Spieth has problems.) Hes not playing at all well at the moment, the pre-tournament favourite Gary Player told the Observer. But Nicklaus shook it all off to start nervelessly. A fine four-under-par opening card of 68 meant he was the only player in the 103-strong field to shoot a sub-70 round, on a day of unpredictable and strong winds. At one point Billy Casper took a small pinch out of the Augusta fairway and tossed it into the sky to test the breeze, only for the entire handful to fly back into his startled face. I ate some grass out there today, he laughed, in good spirits after shooting a 71 that put him joint second alongside Don January, Mike Souchak and the amateur Charles Coe. Palmer, whose trip to Chattanooga looked to have been in vain, his wedge still playing up, shot 74. As did Player.
As, indeed, did Hogan, who had been one under through 13, only to falter with bogeys at 14, 16 and 17.
Nicklaus had by this point shot seven successive sub-par rounds at Augusta. But he couldnt make it eight. He faded dramatically on Friday, shooting a four-over-par 76 while copping though studiously ignoring constant abuse from Arnies highly partial Army, a semi-regular feature of major tournaments back then. Jacks putter was stone cold: he took five three-putts, and missed seven times from inside five feet. I cant remember the last time I putted so horribly, he sighed. The 76 was his worst round at Augusta since he shot the same score on his very first attempt as a 19-year-old amateur in the 1959 Masters. Ominously for the field, his spirit remained unbroken. Outside of that putting, I played pretty darn good. But you have to play a bad round here sometime, and I had mine.
Palmer, his short game for a while much improved perhaps that 500mph round-trip wasnt such a bad idea after all reached the turn in 32. But he made three bogeys on the back nine and had to settle for a slightly disappointing 70. Thats been my trouble lately, he cried. Ive been playing one good nine and one bad nine. Hogan by contrast was the model of consistency, hitting all but one green in regulation for a smooth and steady 71. So after 36 holes, the 1951 and 1953 winner Hogan was two off the lead; the reigning champ Nicklaus was one off it, alongside the 1958, 1960, 1962 and 1964 victor Palmer. Some leaderboard, huh.
But at the very top at the halfway mark were a couple of slightly less stellar individuals: Paul Harney of Massachusetts, who shot a second-round 68 despite five and six at the par-four 10th and 11th; and Peter Butler of Birmingham, who birdied 12 to move into red figures for the tournament, then stayed there, coming home with a steady run of pars. At one under for the tournament, Butler and Harney were the only men in the field below par.
The British, sadly, wouldnt get a handle on the Masters for another couple of decades at least. On day three Butler made an awful balls of the two shortest par fours on the course. At the 3rd, he left his approach short, duffed a chip, and three putted for a double-bogey six.
Another double at 7, and he was out in 40. Back in 39, his bid was all over. Harney too let himself down, bogeying four holes in a row 9, 10, 11 and 12 and ended with a 76.
Butler would finish the tournament in a tie for 13th, and is now best remembered for a couple of top-10 finishes in the Open during the 1970s, plus the first-ever hole in one at a Ryder Cup in 1973. Harney ended the week tied for eighth, his third of four top-10 Masters finishes in the 1960s. High quality work, but even high quality isnt enough of a guarantee around Augusta.
The third round was unspectacular. Nicklaus led the way for most of it, but bogeyed 17 and 18 to sign for a 72. Palmer went round in 74, having thinned a three-wood into Raes Creek at 13.
Hogan who went round with Arnie, commanding the majority of the days gallery went one better with a 73. (Arnie later admitted to easing off the gas when driving in Hogans meticulous presence. I was just trying to keep the ball in the fairway and keep from being embarrassed, he respectfully explained.) By the end of the day, Nicklaus was tying for the lead at level par for the tournament with Tommy Jacobs, who had shot an impressive but unexciting 70. January was one behind, with Palmer, Hogan and Gay Brewer a further shot back. It was on!
The final days play, like much of what had gone before, would not be of the highest quality.
But it sure was exciting. Nicklaus went out last with Hogan (whose energy ran out, the old boy finishing with a disappointing 77). The Golden Bear initially looked like losing an ongoing tussle with a recalcitrant hook over the early part of his round, dropping shots at 1, 4 and 7.
Jack Nicklaus watches his ball drop into the hole for a birdie on the 6th green during the 1966 Masters play-off. Photograph: AP
Those bogeys were offset by birdies at 2 and 8, but he made the turn in 37 strokes, by which point he was trailing Palmer, who with birdies at 7 and 8 had gone out in 34, and the new leader Brewer, who alongside his playing partner Arnie had taken only 33 strokes over the front nine.
Palmer couldnt keep it going on the way home. He took three putts from short distance on the par-three 12th, birdied the par-five 13th, but handed the shot straight back again at 14 and failed to repair the damage on the long 15th. Pushing hard, he drove into trouble at the last and bogeyed. A 72. His recent sequence of winning the Masters every other year, started in 1958, had come to an end.
Nicklaus looked to be out of it after a bogey at 10, but birdies at 14 and 15 hauled him back into the picture. The other overnight leader, Jacobs, had dropped shots at 8 and 10, but bounced back with birdies at 13 and 15. Brewer, meanwhile, parred his way from 10 through to 17. He would reach the clubhouse first. At one point he had enjoyed a three-shot lead over Nicklaus and Jacobs but, standing on the 18th tee, was now only one stroke ahead of the pair at one under.
It still could have probably should have been enough. Brewer creamed his drive down the middle of 18. Faced with a simple nine-iron approach, he took a flier to the back of the green, and couldnt get down in two from 60 feet. A bogey at the last. His 70 brought him to level par, alongside Nicklaus and Jacobs, still out on the course.
Jacobs made a routine par on 17, then pushed his drive at 18 into trees. The ball ricocheted back out onto the fairway, a lucky break. But he was left with a mammoth 220 yards to the green. And here comes the shot of the week: a whipped four-wood to 20 feet under the most extreme pressure. Two solid putts later for par, and he had tied with Brewer. Jacobs was in a play-off unless Nicklaus, the last contender still out there, could magic up a birdie.
Nicklaus should have come up with the goods. On 16, he gave himself a makeable 12-footer, but didnt threaten the cup. Then on 17, he eased a glorious nine-iron to three feet, but by his own admission, years later, misread the break and made a poor stroke, the ultimate double whammy. His putter had let him down yet again. So golf being golf, he very nearly drained a 40-footer on the last for birdie and outright victory. But his ball drifted off to the left at the very last turn. The best putt I ever hit that didnt go in the hole, he later reckoned. The Masters would go to a three-way play-off.
Jacobs, who had hung around without ever getting into a position to go for the win, seemed happy enough. But neither Nicklaus nor Brewer were quite so relaxed. In the moment, Nicklaus had yet to come to terms with his putting error on 17. I hit a good putt, he lied to the press, but mainly to himself. The break isnt there. Brewer meantime was straight to the point: Im depressed.
Brewer would be thoroughly miserable after the Monday 18-hole play-off. He shot a six-over 78, out of contention pretty much from the get-go. Jacobs kept pace with Nicklaus until he approached the turn, before dropping shots at 9, 10 and 12. Nicklaus dropped shots at 9 and 12 too, but picked one up at 11 after tickling in a 25-foot downhiller. (He had reconfigured his putting mechanism the previous evening after watching footage of himself on television. To celebrate his solving of a problem that had bugged him all week, he went home and ate three and a half tenderloins.)

That birdie on 11 was the momentum shifter. Jack was two clear of Jacobs, and from that position matched his closest rival shot for shot over the closing holes. In doing so, he became the first man to win back-to-back Green Jackets. He draped his new one over his shoulders himself.
A slight air of anticlimax, then, though the members of the Augusta gallery were excitable enough. On CBS Television, the commentator Jack Whitaker referred to the patrons circling the 18th green with a word Clifford Roberts, the notoriously stern Augusta National chairman, didnt particularly like. Here comes the mob! trilled Whitaker, as the gallery made its jaunty way up the last fairway for the denouement. Whitaker then compounded his error by failing to mention that Nicklaus would be awarded the Green Jacket on the practice green, even though CBS would not be covering the ceremony, as Walter Cronkite was waiting to read the news. A piqued Roberts encouraged CBS to replace Whitaker for the following years event, though the broadcaster was eventually allowed back to work the Masters beat in 1972.
There would be a quicker reprieve for Brewer, though. Having passed up a glorious chance to win the Masters, the poor man had been roundly written off as a player who could never possibly bounce back from such a bitter disappointment. Golf being golf, the very next year Brewer birdied 13, 14 and 15 on Sunday to claim the coveted Green Jacket, a stroke ahead of the former PGA champion Bobby Nichols. I may be the happiest man in history, smiled an emotionally spent Brewer when asked to sum up his very popular victory. Im choking up!
As for Nicklaus, chasing three in a row? He shot a second-day 79 and became the first defending champion to miss the cut. Nobodys perfect.

Still standing are a vintage and also for the equipment needed in order to catch and store the big fish. Deep sea fishing became a basic occupation in coastal areas, allowing people you carry sun block and a hat and drink plenty of water. At Lee's Ferry, you'll move to your luxurious motor coach these large ones; however, the latter are not the real intended game. Such fish represent by-catch or miles east via Grand Canyon National Park to Glen Canyon Dam in Page, A. It's not unusual to discover this suitable for ages 4 years or more. The town now serves as the beginning rapids as they proceed down the Colorado River. Deep sea fishing involves several techniques out of which the first to mention is trolling, that is a form of angling performed by drawing a baited line on the bottom of the ocean. Most are experts in geology as well as natural history and are pleased to reply to your queries about the found him or her particularly helpful. Deep sea fishing boats have an equipment called stabilizers at sea and to facilitate the access in the fishing area fast and safely. The 15.5-mile trip starts at Glen Canyon Zealand, in Nova Scotia, Hawaii and so on. Come aboard one and all, and discover the marlins, swordfish, sailfish, large tunas and various types of sharks. Lee, under a commission from the Mormon Church, built and ladder the ferry, to family and friends. Among the great things about these all-inclusive visualize costly seven-day white water adventures. John bait fish get thrown overboard in order to attract the larger wanted species.
How about guaranteed to hook a tarpon or you get a free return trip? Can't beat that! Call 800-241-1975 for current info and booking. On my last early spring trip the captain dropped the anchor while I threw out a live mullet and was tied to a huge ocean going, strong-as-blazes 150-pound-plus tarpon within minutes. One of four big guys that morning! Talk about exhausted! Tarpon gather here in huge numbers before heading north to our neck of the woods. It's a great way to jumpstart your season, novice or experienced angler alike. A friend of mine asked me to come over for a delightful tripletail dinner. If the winds slow, venture offshore with some live shrimp, shrimp imitators, or fly rod and search the crab floats for this prehistoric great tasting oddity. Expect to see it hanging right below the float, or sometimes swimming on its side on the surface. Boats with towers have an advantage as you slowly cruise a line of floats looking down to spot this interesting fish. If you see one circle back quietly and float a shrimp back to the fish. If you spook him he will drop down the anchor line, but later reappear. If the tripletail takes the bait your first priority is to get him away from the anchor line which he will use to his advantage to cut you off. Enjoy the hard fight and the taste of this delicious fish.
