An AU where Ulysses gets all his memories back first, but Aax is still super pissed and doesn't want to be near him, so Ulysses has to go about his days knowing his child resents him while he (im)patiently waits for her memories to come back.

Ulysses and Aax are Anakin and Obi-Wan coded.

I will elaborate.

Obi-Wan, who himself nearly was cast out of the Jedi Order TWICE as a child, who just lost his father figure, who was just made knight without Qui-Gon being there to witness it, turning toward the Council proclaiming he will teach Anakin, no matter if they agree or not, and if it means having to leave the Order alltogether to do so, so he can give Anakin his best chance, the chance Qui-Gon wanted to give him. Grown Jedi Masters flat out stating that Anakin is not a child in their eyes, but a bomb waiting to blow up.

"He is not a child, he is a threat."

"He is just a child! None of this was his fault."

Ulysses, after years of building monsters, having lost everything - his family, his partner, his faith, himself - looking into the glass tube at an innocent child and realizing they are not a weapon, realizing the weight of Project Proteus, realizing the risk he was taking by going against the Telchins to take Perseus out of the tank, to try his best to teach him, raise him, show them she is loved regarless of the telchinian torture in the name of science and survival. Ulysses breaking Perseus out, wrapping his coat around them securely before sending them away, prepared to give his life so they are assured a chance at survival and freedom.

thinking about a Sweet Tooth and fable au.. Aax and Gus both being created in a lab, both escaping with a parental figure but not making it out with them. both being "feared" in various ways.

i cant decide if that would make Ulysses Pubba or Birdie, protecting their (basically adopted) kid and raising them despite the conditions. either way i sob. then maybe Vorago as Jeppard, protecting Aax/Gus even after their 'fathers' are gone?

...Y'all ever think abt the fact that Vess could be able to haunt/Watch over Ulysses.

Vess could have been watching over Ulysses since the conduits- watching their loving partner turn into a monster in the name of "Saving the Telchin." Vess could have seen *everything* Ulysses did.

Vess might have hated Ulysses for a while- They could have hated seeing the way their partner hurt innocent people just for a few more days of life.. Vess could have hated seeing the monster their partner became... Before Aax was created.

For the first time in a long time- Vess saw the *real* Ulysses Themist pour all the love he had into this child. Vess could have seen the regret and fear in Ulysses eyes as he and the other scientists experimented on *his* child. They could see the happiness in Ulysses shine brighter than the sun as he read stories to Percy.

Vess could have seen the way Ulysses gave up *everything* to give Percy a chance at normal life- to give Percy a happily ever after..

Vess could still be watching over him- Watching Ulysses do everything to help his friends and take care of his child. Vess could still be watching their partner do everything to make up for what he's done in the past..

《Headcanon time, but it's only one Headcanon》

♡: since finding out that Ulysses is the one to take care and essentially raised Aax for a while before things went bad, Aax has been playing with all his names with Ulysses's last name. Aax's favorite combination is Perseus Themist. She also has all the names written down. Of course on the other side of this Ulysses is doing the same thing but he's only been writing Perseus Themist, Ulysses is very happy that at least he could have this, he could have something good.
