Shadow of the Ninja - Reborn
Tengo Project is a small team consisting of developers who worked on Natsume’s 8/16-bit titles and have been remaking their older games for HD platforms, including Wild Guns, The Ninja Warriors, and Pocky & Rocky. Now they’ve reached back further in Natsume’s history to resurrect the NES game Shadow of the Ninja, the co-op side-scroller that pits ninjas Hayate and Kaede against the demonic forces of the Emperor Garuda. Their previous works were all based on SNES titles, with pixel artwork that increased the color depth and detail of the 16-bit games but still looking pretty similar. However, since Shadow of the Ninja was an NES game, they’ve had their work cut out for them to reimagine and update the visuals to put it on par with their other titles.

This weird game idea I have
Tumblr media
I am currently learning how to program with unity, because as a friend of mine said: "Don't wait for the game you want to be made." And because I am currently really obsessed with Metroidvanias, I want to go into that direction. Probably try out a very short, simple action platformer first, before trying something larger.
But now here is the thing: I really want to make it a Solarpunk game. Because I love my Solarpunk and we need more Solarpunk games, that are neither crafters, nor city builders of some sort.
This currently puts me into the weird question: What kinda antagonists am I gonna have. Or rather: How to go about this?
I kinda would love to make it a Solarpunk vs Cyberpunk storyline. So, I don't know? Mechas as antagonists? Mechas and Cyborgs? Do the Solarpunk main characters fight to establish their Solarpunk world against a Cyberpunk world? Or is the Solarpunk world already established and a Cyberpunk group tries to destroy it?
I don't know. I really would love to hear from other people. What would you like to see?

Vtuber Reviews: Alice Escaped on Steam!
Lovely background art. Cute character designs combined with a surprisingly fast paced tag team combat system that's over the top and anime in a satisfying way.
It's an Anime 2d Metroidvania focused on combat and a skill tree that unlocks new attack strings, movement options and tag and skill mechanics.
its only 15$, I recommend it! Check the video out.

Momodora: Moonlit Farewell is really fun and you should play it!
the new momodora is fantastic. i've played around half of it so far and it's already shaping up to be one of the better action platformers i've played. while i have my gripes compared the last game (read: i'm mad that the bow isn't disgustingly overpowered anymore and I miss having bonus rewards if you no-hit bosses) but in exchange you get a movement kit that makes it feel so delightful and smooth to just run through zones. everything flows into itself and every new move is this lovely evolution. there's also really goofy shit like an infinite walljump which i know is going to let me get VERY stupid later in the game. the character designs and world are gorgeous and the music has consistently blown me away.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i know a lot of people were disappointed about minoria, and while i'll die on the hill that that game was fine, actually, I get it. if what you wanted was Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight 2, you got it. Yes, this is the fifth momodora game, but by the lead dev's own admission they made the story in such a way that you can just drop in because most people didn't go back to play momodora 1-3 after the big success of 4 (which was Reverie Under the Moonlight). you get more out of it if you went back like i did (1 and 2 are free on the dev's itch.io btw, and 3 is a whole $2), but please don't let that stop you from trying such a fantastic game. it seems like this is going to be the last game in this series, and i'm going to savor it and happily wait for whatever the Bombservice team makes next.
there's also a fishing minigame btw

Bought Gunbrella for my Switch 2 days ago & just finished devouring it. It’s one of those games where by the end you’re frustrated or are slightly confused believing that you’ve missed something but not due to any negative reason. Rather it’s me coming away wishing the game was longer because of how patently amazing it is! The Gunbrella’s mechanics make it so fun to use & lends to fantastic aerial ballets of carnage & I can absolutely see amazing speed runs or no damage fights done by people who become true experts at it. The story itself is a basic vengeance plot but excels in granting depth & character to both the heroes, villains & civilians in the cast. I just am so frustrated with how short it was & in that way is not too dissimilar to Katana Zero, another action platformer that rewards deft handling of the controls & combat encounters. Begging anyone even slightly interested in the game to purchase it in the selfish hope that the devs at Doinksoft create a sequel

I have redesigned the Skeleton King idle sprites...and color palette. And have been at least making some temporary/work-in-progress tile sets.
I'm trying to feel out what the vibe is for The Skeleton King. Originally, it was darker in tone and as it has been evolving so has some of the rendering. It has been really exciting though and I've been mapping out scenes on paper and really managing the game design doc and really charting where this game has been and where it is going.
I feel cautiously optimistic of its growth and its future.
Tumblr media
The Skeleton King is most certainly born out of my time with Castlevania and other titles...tonally and game play-wise. I can't wait to show some in progress screens and hopefully some demo time in the coming weeks (even if it is not complete).
