I just found an Indonesian Yukari producer, I'm not gonna not mention this. Maybe it's just my bias, but Yukari has one of the best Indonesian pronounciation among the vsynths (Gumi's is also pretty good). Cute PV too.

The Toonami Trending Rundown for November 2023. After two years of being stuck in “Crunchyroll Jail”, Demon Slayer has finally returned to the better cartoon show to premiere the highly acclaimed Mugen Train arc. And it’s not alone, as Dr. Stone has also returned to resume the second half of the 3rd season, the New World, while IGPX returns to the lineup for the first time in 10 years, as Discotek releases an HD Remaster of Toonami’s first original series.

November 4-5 was a post-Halloween marathon night, as Toonami re-aired Part 1 of Attack on Titan: The Final Chapters, in addition to the first two episodes of IGPX due to the extra hour the block got due to the end of Daylight Savings. In terms of trending, both shows trended in the USA, although the former got some assistance as Part 2 was just released in Japan and on simulcasting. For the night of November 11-12, the premiere night of Demon Slayer and Dr. Stone, #Toonami trended in the USA alongside Demon Slayer and Dr. Stone. #Toonami also trended on Tumblr alongside Demon Slayer and One Piece. On November 18-19, #Toonami trended in the USA on Twitter and on Tumblr, while Demon Slayer and Dr. Stone both trended in the US. And on November 25-26, #Toonami trended in the USA alongside Dr. Stone and IGPX.

The feature for November 11 was a new ID bump made by The Foreign Correspondents' Club. You can check it out below.

The feature for November 18 was a game review of Sea of Stars, a role-playing video game by Sabotage Studio that is available on modern platforms. TOM and SARA have called it a modern-day rendition of the classic Chrono Trigger video game.

And for November 25, Toonami aired another new ID bump featuring TOM and SARA trying out an explosive new weapon, this time from MoreFrames AnimationCo.

With Demon Slayer finally back on the lineup, Toonami has plenty of Demon Slayer to catch up on. Demon Slayer’s Mugen Train arc is only 7 episodes long, given it’s a TV version of the hit Mugen Train film. But there is also the Entertainment District Arc, which will be an addition 11 episodes in length to complete season 2. Followed by the 11-episode Swordsmith Village Arc that makes up season 3. During the Aniplex panel on Saturday morning at Anime NYC, it was announced that the Entertainment District Arc will also be making its way to Toonami on January 13, following the completion of Mugen Train.

Demon Slayer fans will have plenty more to celebrate in the future, as the official Kimetsu no Yaiba Japanese website has already confirmed that a fourth season is in production, to cover the Hashira Training arc. Additional details are to be revealed on December 10.

When it rains, it pours, and with Toonami rekindling relationships with Aniplex (and potentially all of Sony-Crunchyroll LLC), Aniplex USA has announced on Friday at Anime NYC this weekend that a second show is also on the way for the better cartoon show. Lycoris Recoil, an original anime series directed by Shingo Adachi, the character designer and chief animation director of Sword Art Online, will be joining the Toonami lineup on January 20, as the first new acquisition in the 2024 calendar year.

Luffy from One Piece made his debut on the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade this year, as he had his own float parading down the streets of New York City for the very first time. Anime was well represented, as he was joined by a Goku float from Dragon Ball Super, as well as a Christmas themed Pikachu and Eevee float from Pokémon. Unfortunately, Luffy’s hat would deflate after it got snagged by a tree branch due to strong winds in the area. The float was still able to fly and would later be showcased on the NBC broadcast, albeit with Luffy’s straw-hat looking like a bucket hat as a result of the tear and partial deflation.

Finally, Toonami has announced marathon nights for Christmas and New Year’s as the block winds down with the year coming to a close. For Christmas week on December 23, Toonami will air all 7 episodes of Dr. Stone: New World Part 2 it has aired to that point from Midnight to 3:30 a.m. EST. While for New Year’s week on December 30, Toonami will air all 7 episodes of Demon Slayer’s Mugen Train arc from midnight to 3:30 a.m.

I thought I was going to skip this month, but guess not.

#766 - (Not) A Devil (DECO*27, PinocchioP) [Hatsune Miku]

Achievement Date: 23-03-02, Upload Date: 23-01-13

Astoundingly fast achievement for the song, and probably one of my favorite songs in recent times, almost perfect collaboration between two of the biggest producers in the VOCALOID world right now. It is also an interesting note in how tuning can change the character directly, which is such a subtle point in how VOCALOIDs work.

#767 - Apricot (Iyowa) [Hatsune Miku]

Achievement Date: 23-03-05, Upload Date: 21-12-12

Iyowa has been the major rising star in the VOCALOID world, and this song has been one of the forefront. I believe this song is the title track for the second album. Very much a prototypical Iyowa song, kind of a sleek version of Kikuo’s madness, with similar type of imaginative plotlines and MVs. Oh, and the turn in the bridge, impactful.

DECO*27 return to more of a hard rock, akin to Hibana (apparently this was originally labeled Hibana 2). I like the social media fueled lyrics and this is certainly return to form in structure to which DECO*27 is familiar. Good as always.

#U-10, 769 - heat abnormal (Iyowa) [Adachi Rei, Hatsune Miku]

Achievement Date: 23-03-10, Upload Date: 22-10-08

Another VocaCore winner on the list. Adachi Rei is fascinating because it is fully A.I. unlike others which use a human voice as the base. I think this song kind of fits the current VOCARO meta, simple almost drum-and-bass beats and instrumentation and rather fast lyrics, which I feel is a direct influence from Project Sekai and TikTok being so instrumental in powering the community forward. Still a fantastic song.

#770 - Nekomimi Archive (Kusoinaka-P) [Hatsune Miku]

Achievement Date: 23-03-18, Upload Date: 12-01-28

One of the songs that comes a lot as one of the best ‘cat’ songs in VOCALOID oeuvre, but only just made it onto this list. Very emblematic of the loud rock of the golden age, which doesn’t make this song any passe per se. It’s worth a listen.

#771 - City Lights (Shiina Mota) [Kagamine Rin]

There are a lot of Shiina Mota just under the cusp, as his songs received a lot of attention due to his tragic passing became well known. This song strikes right between happy-go-lucky sounding songs and his subtle fast beat songs, and the vaguely depressing lyrics which feel more bitter after his untimely demise.

#772 - Eikou SPECTRUM (M.S.S. Project) [Hatsune Miku]

A compass song from that Minecraft group, probably honestly one of the best people to design a background music for a NicoNico fighting game, and this does not disappoint. Really beautiful chord progression, honestly I think one of the best they have done.

ShiShiShiShi has been one of the unsung favorites, and they finally have their most popular song on the list. That guitar intro is such a great entrance, and the song just oozes coolness like the neon light MV of this song. Something I get from these jazz-infused songs is that Miku is quite high compared to singers.

Anime of the day: Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei-bu Love!

Please stop here. You need this anime in your life.

Magic girls can go shove off, because we have magical boys! And it’s not like the boys turn into girls, no they wear their adorable magic with pride! A magical pink wombat gives a group of five boys magic powers and now they must defend the world from lovelessness. They fight against a green hedgehog and his cronies. And they fight some super strange enemies. If you’re looking for something serious you should do it elsewhere because this anime is nothing but a fun blast of 12 episodes. BUT WAIT there's more. The sequel includes 12 more episodes of these defenders, defending the world with love. I really liked this show. It’s sad that I didn’t find it till after it aired. The characters would also make an adorable cosplay so like there is that. To find all the music from this anime is super easy, just look up “Earth Defence Club” on Spotify. The opening, “絶対無敵☆Fallin' LOVE☆” is on my playlist. It’s a bop. Everything is a bop with this anime.

Tonari no Kyuuketsuki-san

This is a cute yuri like anime about a girl obsessed with dolls who bumps into a vampire and essentially moves into her house and is now obsessed with her. 

Megalobox:

This anime is a boxing anime. It’s second season is wonderful; however, it was quite different from the first. Nevertheless it was a great anime.

Anime of the day: Adachi to Shimamura

Released: 2020

Normally I try to vary the kinds of anime I write about everyday, but that’s made my anime list a bit messy with red. Instead I’m being lazy and will just write about them in the order they are on the list, which is who I could remember first and not watch order.

This anime is a shoujo ai, and it’s an extremely soft one at that. There are these two girls who skip class together and play table tennis. They weren’t friends at first but they got there eventually. They become attached to one another and develop an actual friendship. That is till one catches feelings. Instead of dividing them the feelings strengthen their relationship as they both try to figure out their feelings while also not losing their precious friend.

The story is a little complicated and it focuses on the characters growth and development. It was a really refreshingly light yuri. However, this is also a little bit of a problem for me. While the feelings were confessed it didn’t seem to me like any real romantic progress was clearly made by the last episode. They can come off as just really close friends. Either Way I really enjoyed this anime. The comedic elements were very organic.

Anime of the day: The Cat Returns

I’m just going to open myself to the firing squad. I’ve already mentioned this before but this is my favorite Ghibli. This was also my first Ghibli. It’s super special to me and I love watching it. It’s about Haru who accidentally saves a cat prince and then is kidnapped to become his bride. With the help of her friends Muta and Baron, Haru must escape the Cat Kingdom or she will stay a cat forever. The sound track for this anime is perfect. I have no negatives when it comes to this anime. Weirdly enough it’s one of the few anime I’ve ever watched and enjoyed in English. Plus everyone has a crush on Baron by the end of the movie. Its perfect. 

Plus the memes are priceless.

She lives confined to her house. Her grandmother doesn’t trust the world with Josee because she is in a wheelchair. Now these two are stuck together and figuring it out along the way.

What's the relationship between Marie and Adachi ??

In canon, there's really not a lot to say about them. But with the crumbs I've gathered, it's pretty interesting to see how they see the other.

In the game, they don't…. actually interact or meet. But in the voice actor interview in the JP exclusive "Mariko's Room," when Marie tries to associate with Adachi, all she says is "Ame-no-Sagiri was inside this person, huh?"

For context about Mariko's Room: Marie, in character, interviews the voice actors themselves while she makes comments based on how she was associated with the VA's character in the story. Like calling Yukiko and Chie "Red and Green" or Kanji "Old Timer"...Yes she interviewed Kana Hanazawa too, it was funny. But I haven't found a English sub of that so...darn.

Handpicking from the Golden anime, it's nice to see she actually has a [painful] reaction when seeing him in the crowd showing that she's obviously affected by the presence of the power of Sagiri. Which is, y'know, Mimi's power.

it's obviously strange that she didn't get affected beforehand during the concert itself but, eeh i said handpicked for a reason.

Despite how much of a mess Arena is, too, and how sloppily they handled Marie (even as just a DLC), Adachi's reactions to her were peculiar. (For discussion, we'll ignore the plot of Arena and just assume this is post p4) Because of Marie regaining her power as the deity of Inaba's collective, it should be more apparent that she actually has power as compared to how weak she was before.

Instead of Adachi immediately talking down every girl he sees like usual, he treats Marie similar to the Velvet Room attendants; "not human" and "powerful" enough to actually warn other people about them.

Another fun tidbit is Adachi saying "If you're lost, try a police box" as if he was aware of Marie wandering around Inaba before bancho came to Inaba and she was taken in by Margaret to the Velvet Room. That he's seen the punk style dressed girl wandering aimlessly around the city.

Now, in a general hypothetical sense, I think they'd be good friends. The "Tsunderes with Shit Bangs" club

Adachi doesn't really have the inclination to make fun of Marie. And if he would he'd have to do it in a way he isn't smacked halfway through the universe

And with them synergizing as tsunderes of their general feelings I don't think they'd be too embarrassed of each other since they know the other won't say anything about it. Hence why I think Marie would let Adachi in on her poems for his opinion.

So jokes aside,

Going through the same torment of believing oneself to be irredeemable, thus refusing to be saved now that they're so deep into that mindset. Closing their minds to the other opportunities that would actually benefit everyone. Straight up lying about their desires and covering it up with consequences instead.

I've....rewritten the Magatsu Inaba arc (spoilers ooo it was never Magatsu ooooo i wonder who made it that way oooo) so yeah. Adachi's develops in a way he's come to actually adore Inaba as his home, but despises himself for everything that's happened.

Holing up in a world that lies to himself about his own heart and telling Souji not to save him because of how disgusting he really is as the world presents itself. Pushing Souji away and telling him he's such a stupid kid for believing in the "Adachi" of his own making that he ended up hurting himself. That Adachi believes he's been a heartless man and will never be able to change. That if Souji ever "saves" him, the boy would have to live with the guilt of letting an empty husk that did nothing but everything for his own entertainment continue living. All completely ignoring his own development that's happened within the year. or maybe he. forgot. heh. hehe.h. hehehefnnbgbgnbnbsgngng

While Marie attempts to push Souji away because she's Nothing, that she will have to return to Nothing. She has absorbed the fog everyone knows to be harmful to human life as it turns people into their Shadows. That she is meant to die in order to save them all. She insists she "hates" Inaba, Okina, the IT and everything she's lived through. Spitting venom just to push her loved ones away to stop saving her life or the world will end.

But Adachi wants his bonds. Marie wants the life she made for herself. And Souji manages to give them what they want. The desires they've been hiding.

In the au, there's a lot that happens between them when they first meet and work towards a common goal. Trying to save not one, but two gray-haired people that aren't senior citizens. With all the socially inept people Adachi's had to deal with, I doubt he'd have a hard time comprehending Marie. In fact, she could remind him of someone he knows at this point.

Though after this I don't actually plan on making them interact major plotwise. Anyway, post p4 where she visits in his cell with the moldy tatami mats sometimes. But not as often as another certain someone.
