Now this is just a random feeling I have about Stargate SG-1 that I was just reminded of while doing some rewatching, but--

They really sleep on/underutilize Skaara and Daniel's relationship. Like the fact that they're brothers in law and lived in the same small village for over a year. They were FAMILY. Daniel taught Skaara English!

Like I get that Jack has a special connection with the kid from their time together in the movie. Yeah, he gave him a lighter, which was pretty cool. BUT DANIEL MARRIED HIS SISTER FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! They were practically brothers. By everything else they've shown us of Abydos and Abydonian culture, their families should be very tight knit. I mean gosh their civilization was small enough as it was. But then you have things like Daniel referring to Kasuf as his father and Kasuf calling him his son (and I'm pretty sure that one continued even after Sha're's death).

I'm just saying. We should have seen more of those two interacting in a way appropriate to their time spent together at least if not their familial bond. I feel low key robbed. It could have been so gooood.

Meeting Alexis Solomon had been a treat. And, it turned out, they had quite a lot in common -- thank you -- even if people assumed Trixi was one way just from looking at her. Alexis nurtured that spitfire in her, and Trixi adored her for it. Most of all, though, she loved moments like this, when she didn't know what was going to happen and the other woman took control. Trixi looked up at her through long eyelashes and grinned, silenced by the kiss, wrapping her arms around the other woman. "You're a real charmer."

Inside the controversies surrounding Drake and 21 Savage’s latest album, “Her Loss”

Amidst the release of Drake and 21 Savage’s new album, several controversies have arisen between Drake, Vogue Magazine and other artists. Several artists are said to have been disrespected and thrown shade at throughout the chart-topping album, “Her Loss”. Artists like Megan Thee Stallion have fallen victim to the controversies surrounding the Torontonian artist's brand-new release. In addition to Drake receiving backlash for his shots at other artists, Vogue Magazine also filed a lawsuit against him and 21 Savage for their fake Vogue promotion poster. Despite the growing arguments with regards to the integrity of the album occurring on social media platforms, the album’s rapid success has evidently continued to overpower. 

November 4, 2022, marked the release of Drake and 21 Savage’s brand new collaboration, “Her Loss”. Streaming on all listening platforms, the love rap album features several themes - women, partying, misogyny, and money. Merely minutes following the release, multiple songs from the album blew up on TikTok, Twitter and Instagram. Over 70k creators from all around the world have recorded themselves lip-synching to songs like “Rich Flex”, comedically mimicking how they think Drake and 21 Savage must’ve looked whilst recording in the studio. However, the success of the album is not solely due to the catchiness of certain songs, in fact, its success is primarily the result of the gossip associated with its lyrics and covert references.

Within minutes of the release of “Her Loss”, Drake and 21 Savage set gossip sites and pop culture news aflame due to references ranging from Serena William’s husband, ​​Alexis Ohanian, to old quarrels within the rap industry, to an insult towards Megan Thee Stallion’s foot injury caused by Tory Lanez.

Back in 2015 before Ohanian and Williams were together, Drake and Williams were exclusively dating. They broke up in 2015, and she later started seeing Ohanian in May of that same year. When she married Ohanian in 2017, Drake began to throw bitter shots at the couple. In “Her Loss”, specifically “Middle of the Ocean” at 3:35, Drake calls out the Reddit founder in the lyrics; "Sidebar, Serena, your husband a groupie; He claim we don't got a problem but; No, boo, it is like you comin' for sushi". Ohanian responds to the subtle diss in his tweet, saying, "The reason I stay winning is because I'm relentless about being the absolute best at whatever I do - including being the best groupie for my wife & daughter." This is not the first time that Drake has made subtly bitter comments towards Williams in his songs. He previously insulted the Olympian’s tennis career, claiming that he could beat her in a match in his 2013 track, “Worst Behavior”. 

Despite the disrespectful nature of the rapper’s lyrics, the jab at Ohanian and Williams’ relationship was not the main issue that occupies pop culture websites and gossip columns nowadays. Rather, Drake’s controversial covert remark towards Megan Thee Stallion, whose foot was allegedly shot by Tory Lanez back in 2020, has taken the spotlight. The rapper, Tory Lanez, was facing “one count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and one count of carrying a loaded, concealed firearm in a vehicle” back in September-October, according to a statement made by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. According to police reports, Tory was having an argument with a woman - identified as “Megan P” in a criminal complaint - in a SUV on July 12. As the woman exited the car, she was shot multiple times in the foot. Megan Thee Stallion, formally known as Megan Jovon Ruth Pete talked about the car incident during an Instagram Live on her verified account. She later posted a photo of her wound, which was deleted slightly after. In October 2020, legal authorities charged the rapper with felony assault, but he pleaded not guilty the following month. In October 2022, he was placed under house arrest as he awaited his trial after allegedly shooting Megan and assaulting the singer August Alsina in August 2022. Most recently, on December 23rd, 2022 in Los Angeles, Tory Lanez was officially convicted of three felonies following the shooting allegations. He was charged with “assault with a semiautomatic firearm, having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.”(ITV News) The star who was proclaimed guilty faces a maximum sentence of 22 years in prison and possible deportation back to his home country, Canada, according to CNN. Amidst the allegations made against Tory Lanez and Megan’s public complaints before they became official in the eyes of the court, Drake threw his own shot at Megan through his lyrics in his new album, specifically in his song “Circo Loco”; “This b---h lie 'bout getting shots, but she still a stallion.” The singer responded to the underhanded insult on Twitter. She called Drake “lame”, and claimed that such conspiracy theories were weak and that they lacked proper facts or receipts. Artists like Sweetest Pie and other listeners shared their distaste for Drake’s biased lyrics against Megan.

Like previous tracks, Drake’s songs have a history of calling out people who he feels have wronged him through his lyrics. Evidently, the success of his collaborative album with 21 Savage is not solely due to its acquired traction and fame on social media platforms like TikTok, but a large part of it is the controversies surrounding the lyrical references themselves. His album is no doubt a fan favourite, but the issues that it set aflame have definitely caused a divide amongst his supporters and supporters of those he covertly mentioned in his music.

As you wiped the tears from your eyes, there was a cheerful knock at the door.

“Come in,” you announced.

Sylvie peeked her head in the room.

“Hey girl,” she laughed, “how you feeling?”

“I’m good,” you paused, “yeah, I’m okay.”

“Is now a good time? We’ve got some firefighters here who’d like to meet her.”

“I’ll let you meet her first.”

Coming over to the crib, Sylvie was in awe. You picked Alexis up and set her in Sylvie’s ready arms. 

“What’s this babe’s name?” She asked, bouncing Alexis slightly. 

“Alexis Shay Severide.”

“Aw, I love that. What did your mom think of you name your daughter after your sister?”

“She’s not so pleased, but she’ll get over it when she meets her. She’ll be here in a few days I hope.”

“She’ll fall in love with Alexis as soon as she meets her.”

Matt knocked on the door and came up behind Sylvie.

“Is this her?” Matt a sled, looking over at Kelly. 

“This is her,” Kelly smiled back.

You began to tear up again as you watched Sylvie and Matt fall in love with Alexis. Kelly sat beside you and you rested your head on his shoulder. 

“When’s your turn?” Kelly chuckled.

“One firehouse baby at a time,” Matt laughed, “we’ve been thinking about it though.”

“Matt do you want to hold her?” Sylvie asked.

Matt stuttered over his words before finally smiling and admitting, “I’ll absolutely take her.”

As Sylvie handed Alexis over, you and Kelly shared a look and a nod.

“What was that about?” Sylvie asked, gesturing to the nod she just witnessed.

“Kelly and I would like to ask you both if you’d be Alexis’ godparents,” you admitted.

Sylvie and Matt looked at each other, both speechless.

“Of course,” Matt answered.

Kelly stood up, leaning into Matt for a hug.

“Thank you, both of you,” Kelly said, pulling away from Matt and sitting in the chair beside you. 

Joe poked his head in the door.

“Hey, Severide. Mind if I bring in a few more smoke eaters?” Joe asked.

“Not at all. Who’s here?” Kelly replied.

“Everyone. Chief took the firehouse out of service for an hour or two.”

A few moments later, all of 51 poured into your recovery room, the air swelling with love. Everyone took turns passing your baby around and asking how you were doing.

“How you feeling, Severide?” Herrmann asked.

“I’m still in shock, but it got a great wife to be able to be a great father.”

“No feeling like being a father. After every kid Cindy and I had, I was still in shock. That’s normal.”

“Thanks Herrmann.”

Boden walked over to you and Kelly, gaining to attention of the crowd.

“I hate to cut this party short, but HQ has requested a return to quarters,” he announced.

“Thank you all for coming. It’s good to know she’s got a community looking out for her,” you responded, tearing up once again.

As your room emptied, you and Kelly had a few moments to yourself with Alexis. You handed Alexis to her daddy’s very capable hands and Kelly sat in your bed beside you.

“You know what baby?” Kelly told you.

“What’s up?”

“I’m really proud of you today. Thank you for bringing our daughter into the world today.”

“I can’t wait to bring her home with you tomorrow.”

There was a knock at the door and Dr Calhoun appeared.

“I was speaking with another physician about our next steps in terms of when I can discharge you, given how you’ve been doing,” she explained.
