David Hundeyin Exposes ₦800,000 Bribe Attempt to Smear Dangote Refinery.     Renowned Nigerian investigative journalist, David Hundeyin, has made startling revelations about an attempt to bribe him with ₦800,000 to write a damaging article against the Dangote Refinery. Hundeyin, known for his fearless and transparent reporting, took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to expose the details of this incident, shedding light on the external forces allegedly working against Africa's largest refinery.   Read Also : Dangote Refinery's Diesel Quality Superior to Matrix, Total Stations – Lawmakers; Test Shows   In a series of tweets, Hundeyin disclosed that he was approached by an international NGO named Dialogue Earth, formerly known as China Dialogue Trust, with an offer to publish an article criticizing the Dangote Refinery. The article was intended to cast the refinery as harmful to the environment, using arguments around "Environmental Concerns," "Climate Change," and "Energy Transition Policy" to push a narrative that could ultimately lead to the refinery's closure or restriction.   "The (unstated but clearly implied) thrust of the brief was for a prominent local voice to put their name on an article that is an argument or a premise for the Nigerian government to kill the refinery based on its ‘energy transition commitments’ and ‘environmental policy,’" Hundeyin wrote.   WAEC Result Checker 2024: How to Easily Check Your Result for Free   He revealed that the NGO, headed by Oxford professor Sam Geall, is funded by several American intelligence fronts, including the Ford Foundation and ClimateWorks. These organizations have been accused of undermining the development of countries like Nigeria through covert operations. Hundeyin noted that similar activities by these organizations have been blacklisted in India for working against national interests.   Hundeyin's decision to accept the offer initially was a calculated move to gather evidence. He shared screenshots of the brief to substantiate his claims, emphasizing that this was a deliberate attempt to sabotage Nigeria's first refinery. He pointed out the irony of the situation, noting that the same organizations were silent when European refiners blended West African fuel cargoes with toxic waste and sulfur content far above European legal limits, causing severe health issues across West Africa. Yet, these entities suddenly became concerned about environmental impact when Nigeria's Dangote Refinery emerged as a game-changer in the region.   In his exposé, Hundeyin stressed that the agenda against the Dangote Refinery is part of a larger conspiracy by American and European interests to keep Africa dependent and impoverished. He warned that this incident should serve as a wake-up call for Africans to recognize and resist such external manipulations.   "I’m putting this out there publicly so that nobody will henceforth use the term ‘conspiracy theory’ when it is pointed out for the umpteenth time, that there are American and European state and private interests that are heavily invested in keeping Africa exactly as poor as it is," Hundeyin asserted.   Hundeyin, who is not known to be a fan of Aliko Dangote's business practices, clarified that his stance was not about supporting Dangote but about refusing to be a pawn in a broader scheme to maintain Africa's dependency. He called out the orchestrators of this scheme, urging them to fight Dangote directly if they believed their interests were threatened, rather than manipulating African voices to do their bidding.   The revelations by Hundeyin have sparked widespread reactions, with many applauding his integrity and courage in exposing the bribery attempt. This incident also raises significant questions about the role of international NGOs and their influence on African development projects.   David Hundeyin's refusal to be part of this scheme sends a powerful message: Africa's destiny is its own to shape, and its people will not be easily manipulated into perpetuating their own poverty.
Who is David Hundeyin? David Hundeyin is a popular Nigerian investigative journalist known for exposing President Bola Tinubu's drug forfeiture case and the NYSC certificate forgery of former Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, Kemi Adeosun. He also uncovered the scam involving Nigeria Air, flagged off by former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, and exposed the dirty dealings within the Nigerian aviation sector, among many other significant investigations. He is also the publisher of West Africa Weekly.

Aliko Dangote: A Legacy of Business and Philanthropy
Aliko Dangote, born on April 10, 1957, in Kano, Nigeria, is a renowned Nigerian businessman and philanthropist. He is best known as the founder and CEO of the Dangote Group conglomerate, a diversified enterprise with interests spanning various sectors.
Tumblr media
Hailing from the Hausa ethnic group, Dangote was born to Mariya Sanusi Dantata and Mohammed Dangote. His family background in prosperous caravan trading under British colonial rule, particularly through his grandfather Alhaji Sanusi Dantata, played a significant role in shaping his entrepreneurial journey. At a young age, Dangote’s grandfather instilled in him the values of business acumen and enterprise, which laid the foundation for his future endeavors.
After completing his business studies at Al-Azhar University in Cairo in 1977, Dangote returned to Nigeria and embarked on his entrepreneurial path. With a loan from his uncle, he started a commodities trading business, initially focusing on cement. Over time, his business flourished, leading to the establishment of the Dangote Group in 1981.
Under Dangote’s leadership, the Dangote Group expanded rapidly, diversifying its interests to include foodstuffs, cement, haulage, and other sectors. The conglomerate grew to encompass various subsidiaries, including Dangote Industries Ltd., Dangote Cement PLC, and Dangote Sugar Refinery PLC, among others. With operations not only in Nigeria but also in several other African countries, Dangote’s influence extended across the continent.
One of Dangote’s most ambitious projects was the construction of a massive oil refinery in Lagos state, initiated in 2013. The refinery, along with accompanying infrastructure such as a fertilizer plant and a power station, aimed to address Nigeria’s fuel crisis and significantly impact the country’s energy sector. Despite facing delays, the refinery, upon its partial opening in May 2023, promised to revolutionize Nigeria’s energy landscape.
Dangote’s entrepreneurial prowess translated into immense wealth, earning him a place on Forbes magazine’s annual list of billionaires and Africa’s richest individuals. However, his success was not without controversy, as his name surfaced in the Panama Papers in 2016, linking him to offshore shell companies.
Beyond business, Dangote is renowned for his philanthropic endeavors. The Aliko Dangote Foundation, established in 1994 and renamed Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) in 2018, has been instrumental in addressing issues such as childhood malnutrition, disease outbreaks, and disaster relief efforts.
In recognition of his contributions to Nigeria’s economic development and philanthropic efforts, Dangote has received numerous awards and honors, including the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) and various international accolades.
Aliko Dangote’s journey epitomizes the fusion of business acumen with humanitarian values, leaving an indelible mark on Nigeria’s economic landscape and the continent at large.

Abia State Government Denies Receiving 20 Trucks of Rice from Federal Government.   The Abia State government has firmly denied claims that it received 20 trucks of rice as palliatives from the Nigerian government under President Bola Tinubu's leadership.   In a statement released by Prince Okey Kanu, the State Commissioner for Information, it was clarified that no palliatives have arrived in Abia State, nor has there been any communication from the Federal Government regarding such assistance. Prince Kanu dismissed reports suggesting that the Nigerian government distributed 50kg bags of rice to states for sale at ₦40,000 as "fake news."   Read Also: Tinubu's Hidden Fortune Exposed: 17 Oil Wells, Subsidy Scandal,  APC Chieftain Dr. Garus Gololo Speaks Out in Viral Video   "We didn’t see any truck of rice from the Federal Government. And the issue of selling a 50kg bag of rice for ₦40,000 is fake news," Kanu stated. He emphasized that the state government does not engage in rumors and speculations, adding, "There is a protocol for communication from the federal government when it comes to palliatives, and no such message has been received."   When questioned about the potential need to establish communication with the federal government to verify the claims, the commissioner responded that it was unnecessary. "If the news was authentic, we would have received official communication from the federal government. No such thing has happened," he added.     Recently, the Bola Tinubu-led Nigerian government announced the distribution of 20 trucks of rice to each state to cushion the effects of food inflation and rising general inflation. However, this claim has been met with skepticism, with states like Edo and Adamawa also denying receipt of the rice. APC Chieftain Unleashes Scathing Attack on Tinubu, Calls Femi Gbajabiamila ;Most Useless Cabinet Member (Video)   Rev. Olu Martins, Deputy Director of Media for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign in the upcoming Edo State governorship election, echoed similar sentiments. He stated,   "The Edo State government did not receive any rice from the Federal Government or the Aliko Dangote Foundation. If the rice had been sent, which ministry or agency in Edo received it?" APC Ward Chairman Beaten Beyond Recognition While Preaching Tinubu’s Achievements   In response to these denials, the Niger Delta Minister criticized state governors, accusing them of being unfair to President Tinubu. He specifically mentioned the Edo State Governor, claiming that the governor had, in fact, received the rice but failed to acknowledge it publicly.     The controversy surrounding the rice distribution continues to stir debates across the country, with more states possibly coming forward to clarify their stance on the matter.
