Important question: Your blog is canon to the hgcz universe, is your artist introduction accurate to your role in the universe?
yep! my career does not, however, have anything in particular to do with my blog

Related to your anon: Tim didn't want to be Robin forever early on! He expected to be Robin for a little bit and quit. He even said that to Dick, that this wasn't his life plan, he was just doing this to set Bruce straight. He also reiterated this point during the time he quit being Robin because of his dad, though there's an argument to be made that it was a lie by then. Over time the "I won't be doing this forever" morphed into "I'll stop when I'm not needed" to "I'll stop when the world doesn't need Robin" to "??? Quitting? No?"
Yeah but that's kinda why I say that Tim wouldn't of become a hero until way later on if it weren't for Jason dying since he wasn't gun ho to become a hero at 13 he just wanted to be apart of his fav heroes story but he grew to love it and I definitely am one of those people who thinks he was lying since he had the opportunity to stop being Robin and he didn't

His name is Hobie Brown, he's an alternate universe Spider-Man who is super extremely punk(I know, obvious, but) one of his friends is Captain Anarchy, that universe's Captain America. He's the leader of the Spider Band and they fight against President Osbourne's regime! He's super super cool is what I'm trying to say<3

!!! Thank you for the ask!!!! Good to see you again!!
Favorite Dialogue Exchange (I’m pretty sure that’s what that emote is, if not feel free to yell at me): “You better not do that again.” She said once the meal was over. She took his bowl from him with hands that were significantly more steady than they had been while she was cooking. He flinched at the words. “I’m sorry.” He whispered, finally managing to push the simple phrase from his throat. She set the bowls down at his words, turning to look at him with eyes that were wet with tears. She pulled him into a gentle hug, burying her face in his shoulder, and for a moment it felt like his brain was short-circuiting. He didn’t understand. He had almost...and here she was, acting like he had suffered for it. As if he mattered at all, after what he had done to her. “I thought you died.” She whispered into his shoulder, voice breaking on the words. “I thought we had escaped Winterspire together just for you to die to some worthless bandit.” “But-” He objected, not comprehending her words at all. “I almost-If I hadn’t taken control back I would’ve-” She pulled her face away from him at that, enough that she could look him in the eye instead of speaking into him. “You would never hurt me, Iandan. I know that.” She said with such conviction that he wanted to believe it was true.

Genuinely always in awe and filled with gratitude when you find new internet drama, clearly think through it very logically, and then respond with the exact level of ridiculousness that the argument originally had with your logical observations, thereby highlighting just how silly the drama was to begin with.
Makes my dash a brighter place<3

I'm pretty sure people's confusion with the end of Under the Red Hood is a mix of the movie and normal fandom telephone
Since in the movie Bruce digs in the rubble until he finds Joker and the movie pans away as the Joker laughs, that very easily through fandom telephone could get construed as "Bruce dug out the joker but didn't find Jason" to "Bruce cared more about the joker than Jason he didn't even look for him!!! Bruce is awful!!!"
And when you add in the fact that DC removed the final page of the story from the UtRH trade, meaning most people don't even know this page exists:
Tumblr media
It's easy for a small group of people to think that Bruce didn't care and spread it around a fandom space until that's the prevailing series of events that never gets fact checked. Or if it is, it gets ignored.
At least, that is my theory on how it happened¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I do think it's funny if there are people who even just watched the movie and actually thought ah yes Bruce was definitely looking for Joker and not his son in this - its like dudes come on how little faith do you have in Bruce at this point I know he can be written quiet shitty alot but still just bc Bruce dug up Joker doesn't mean that's who he was looking for - I do think a lot of it does come down to fandom telephone and fanon which everyone's intitled to enjoy their version of fanon but maybe just look up what's actually Canon before you start to try arguing with people online

this sorta depends:
most popular thing overall that probably counts as art: the hope poem
most popular drawing: encanto shitpost
most popular Finished piece: the danny phantom comic that started it all o7
3. your favorite piece(s)?
you know what honestly it might be this. the concept, execution, visual legibility, expressiveness etc. all just clicked + it was so fun to draw
however the warden cleo comic is a strong contender, mostly bc i still have *no idea* how i came up with the concept
4. piece you wish got more love?
nah if the art doesn’t send that’s on me

*in a reporter voice* Topsy Mumblesplash, World's Leading Expert on the Deep Dark, what thoughts do you have on the fact that villages frequently spawn over/beside/falling into cave entrances in relation to your knowledge of the Deep Dark? I randomly thought about it two seconds too long and was interested to see what you might have to say on the matte
oh i didn’t actually know they did that!
i have to admit i don’t exactly have thoughts on the spawning locations of *villages* in relation to the deep dark. i do however have thoughts about woodland mansions, those thoughts being mainly that i think the frequency with which deep darks spawn under dark forests is related in some way to the pillagers’ later discovery and investigation of the ancient cities. (as evidenced by things such as their hallmark building style appearing sporadically throughout the cities in apparent attempts to repair parts of them, and the identically colored piles of wool that can be found in both mansions and ancient city camps)
now *personally* as i’ve mentioned in other posts i’m a bit annoyed about the evidence of the pillagers’ presence in the cities. partly because they could have taken things from the chests, meaning the mystery of why there are zero weapons in the loot chests has an obvious and somewhat boring answer, and partly because the slow decline implied by the varying quality of the city’s repairs is so much more horrifying if you assume they were all done by the original citizens and the wool in the camps was scavenged from dead people’s clothes for more soundproofing materials.
in any case, i think the ancient cities were empty ruins for a long, long time before any villagers OR pillagers could have possibly found them. also i haven’t given it much thought atp but i am definitely interested by the possibility that the pillagers who found the cities weren’t pillagers before they went down there

Don't know about everyone else, but I too immensely enjoyed Hal becoming Parallax before Johns retconned parallax into a parasite. Which doesn't even make any sense!! The name Parallax was interesting and has symbolism for the character and the fact that Hal no longer saw things in the same manner he used to! Why would Parallax be the name of a random fear entity!? It makes no sense! Anyway yeah the idea of a character who truly wants to do good being brought to and beyond his limits and taking all matters into his own hands and spiraling into madness is great wish they hadn't retconned it away.
It's literally what every edgy obnoxious writer wants to do with superman but always fails bc they don't understand superman to begin with but with hal they took the time to build up to it they showed that he was getting older and that as you said his way of looking at the world was changing and then they hit him with the destruction of coat City it was such an interesting look into hals character but no I guess the magic brain worm did it nevermind

PandaRedd definitely popularized the headcanon recently(like last couple months) but I've definitely seen it beforehand. And I think honestly it's partially the oversaturation of the idea that's got me fed up with it? Like, I personally find the idea fascinating in a "the DC universe flows at such a different scale to the real world and this is part of the proof of that" sort of way. But especially when an idea gets really popular, it very easily gets skewed and absorbed into other base concepts that exist in fandom spaces, such as this being used to further the idea that Jason is the dumb Robin. Like I genuinely think the concept is being used that way consciously or not, beyond just being close to the idea and having people who don't like that on edge.
The thing about comic universes time is that I also think it's fascinating but dc specifically seems to just not agree on how their time works and that frustrates me to no end its one of those things I genuinely appreciate about marvel comics they clearly say hey time is constantly being manipulated by this one mutant so time is funky it's a comic great incredible enough said without saying a lot still room for interpretation, back to the joke tho yeah it really is just the Jason is dumb aspect that gets me especially in our day and age if you are someone who doesn't understand technology your usually seen as being dumber bc tech is made to be easy to use easy to learn so this idea that Jason couldn't bc he's been gone for a few years ehhh just rubs me the wrong way

Just piping in to mention that anti-villain is an actual term! It's typically a similar archetype to the anti-hero but coming from the opposite direction: whereas an anti-hero is a darker distortion of the hero archetype, an anti-villain is a lighter distortion of the villain. In DC it's difficult to make a distinction between the anti-villain and the villain simply because most villains can/do stray into the anti-villain area by teaming up with the hero temporarily to work towards honorable goals. Anti-villains can often be characterized by holding selfish or damaging goals while still being genuinely good or caring towards others in the meantime. Or they can also fall under the characterization of having seemingly altruistic goals but going towards them in unforgivable ways that we often point to as the anti-hero's role. The two are weirdly both opposites and overlapping in that way.
Uh, sorry for rambling so much about it, haha.
It's cool it's very interesting to know this archetype does actually exist someone else said that doctor doom falls under this umbrella when he's written well which yeah I can see that

This is an old conversation I know, but I'm curious: do you also get annoyed with epithets in published works? Or is it just the flippant and repetitive use of them in fanfic that's frustrating beyond belief?
referring to this post
i actually ended up getting in a fairly in-depth conversation with @laudofthedeep about this because he doesn’t read fanfiction and had no idea what i was talking about, the conclusion we came to was that it’s possible to use epithets unobtrusively (which is more likely to be the case in published works), but also because i do read fanfiction my threshold for ‘unobtrusive’ is WAY lower than it would be otherwise.
so basically flippant and repetitive use of epithets in fanfiction have raised my baseline frustration with them across the board, even in some cases where it’s not really fair.

See, you have the vibes of a really big Tumblr blog, like >10k blog. However I also seem to remember you haven't been here that long(?) So I wouldn't be surprised if it was down closer to the 500~1000 range.
ok noted 1 vote for >10k qualifying as ‘really big blog’ good to know
you’re right that i haven’t been here long, iirc it’s just coming up on two years, but you’re still too low

🫂Share a line (or dialogue exchange) that shows the relationship between two characters.
Everyone stared at her in disbelief, James especially. “What? Have I got it wrong? Remus said—“
“Yeah, no, yeah,” James muttered, quickly messing his hair up. “That—uh, yeah. You’re right. I mean, Remus—we—“
“Wow, the great James Potter rendered speechless,” Lily giggled.
James scowled. “It’s called I’m trying not to throw up seeing your face!”
Lily flipped her hair back. “Get used to it.”
And a bonus Fawley/Remus interaction
[Fawley] held him for a long time until his tears dried up and he calmed down. She used a spell to make her sleeve damp and wiped his face off, ignoring his protests about snot. He felt like a little kid but not in the same way that his parents made him feel; this felt more comforting. Safe.
“If you need anything,” she whispered in his ear as they hugged again, “do not hesitate to contact me.”
