AN: Happy Mother’s Day guys! Here’s the last chapter of this Mother’s Day story that will focus on our favorite Station 19 couple Maya Bishop and Carina DeLuca as mothers to Liam.

Edit: I edited this story a bit so it can take place a year after the series finale. I thought with the writers protests the storyline was set in 2023 instead of 2024 so I accommodated this story with that. And with Maya and Carina getting pregnant in the end I wanted to show their daughter.

Summary: Maya and Carina have a party at the station with the others where they sign the adoption papers making them Liam’s official parents.

“Did you get the cake?” Carina asks Maya in excitement while feeding Liam in a highchair. Liam smiles widely at Carina feeding him another spoonful of banana baby puree from a jar.

Meanwhile their daughter, Andrea, is inside a car seat on the table. She watches her mother feed her brother making baby noises that cause Carina to smile at her baby every five seconds, overcome with how adorable her babies are.

Maya enters the beanery smiling and carrying a large white box with a manila folder on top.

“Yes, I did, and I think your gonna like the design I picked out for this very special day.” Maya sets the box on the table and Carina wipes Liam’s mouth before picking him up so they can go to Maya.

“Did you bring the-”

Maya answers her question before she can finish by picking up the manila folder that contains the adoption papers for them to sign and take to the courthouse tomorrow, “My love do you really still doubt me after all these years?”

Carina grins at Maya’s smugness, “It’s a big day today and we can’t afford any missteps.” Carina turns to Liam and speaks in a baby voice, “But lucky for us your mama is organized and never forgets her keys let alone a paper making us your legal mommy’s. And making you a big brother to your little sister in every way possible."

When Maya and Carina heard the good news from the fertility doctor that Maya’s eggs were successfully fertilized with the sperm, they selected from the donor catalog they decided to freeze them. They wanted to wait until after they adopted Liam to give him a sibling because they wanted to focus fully on him and making him a part of their family.

After their lawyer told them their chances of adopting were good once Liam's father signed away his rights, the women decided not to put it off any longer. They both agreed neither of them were getting younger and their window was small so they had to take it.

Then in May last year Carina told Maya the embryo finally took and they were having another baby.

Maya smiles at the memory as she looks down at their daughter who already has Maya's blonde hair and blue eyes. The sight makes her smile at the family she finally has with the woman she loves.

She looks at Liam in Carina's arms, "Now Liam being a big brother is really important. Your gonna protect your sibling and teach them things we can’t.”

“That’s right.” Carina lightly bounces Liam in her arms, “If it wasn’t for me your Zio Andrea wouldn’t know his head from his butt.”

“Hey, come on I think I could’ve survived being an only child.” Andrew walks into the beanery carrying a large blue gift-wrapped box with his wife Amber DeLuca nee Karev walking beside him carrying their 1-year-old daughter Lucy in her arms. The women can see that despite Amber looking elegant in a gothic sense with her black turtleneck hugging her torso and black pleated pants she looks tired and disheveled.

Amber exhales as if she was running a marathon, “We’re not too late, are we?”

“Nope your right on time.” Andy Herrera tells her as she enters the beanery with Vic, Ben and Bailey. Vic and Travis are visiting Seattle from Washington to settle board meetings for Crisis One. They heard about the party and insisted on showing up.

Andy takes out a water bottle from the fridge, “We’re just waiting for Montgomery and Gibson to show up.”

Andrew exhales in relief, “Thank God, we would have come sooner but the struggle was real getting Lucy out of the house.”

Carina chuckles and leans face to face with Lucy who looks adorable in her denim overall dress with her short wavy brown hair up in pigtails, “Don’t worry Lucy, I forgive you because you are the most adorable nipote in the world!” Lucy giggles at Carina’s exasperated voice.

Amber smiles at her sister-in-law, “Well your adorable nipote has been very active lately.”

“And very stubborn about what she wants.” Andrew chips in and whispers to Maya next to him, “I ‘terribili due’ non sono uno scherzo.” (Translation: The terrible twos are no joke.) Amber puts Lucy down to her feet and she immediately runs to Maya hugging her legs causing Carina and the others to aww at the adorable sight.

Maya chuckles and picks up Lucy in her arms who stares up at her with huge blue eyes, “Come on she’s not even two yet.”

“Oh, try telling her that.” Amber tells her as she sets up the table while Andrew walks over to Carina smiling at his nephew who grins at him.

Amber smiles at her 5-month-old niece on the table who is also named after her husband. She reminisces when her own daughter, Lucy, was this small and compliant.

"Oh I remember when Lucy was this small, it feels like so long ago."

Maya grins with Lucy still in her arms, "It was a year ago."

"Exactly." Amber states, "In parent years it feels like a century. Trust me you'll know what it's like only it'll be double the trouble with two babies. I'll ask April to pray for you two."

Andrew chuckles at Liam’s squishy face feeling nostalgic and sharing Amber's feelings, “Yep enjoy this age while you can sis because pretty soon, he’s gonna start scribbling on the walls, scaring you half to death when he tries to climb the stairs by himself and pulling your hair when you end bathtime.” Carina chuckles at Andrew’s misery, “Seriously you guys enjoy this age of innocence it goes by so fast.”

“How strong is the coffee here?” Amber asks Andy.

“We have military issue if you can handle it.”

“I’ll take a cup.” Amber moves to the coffeemaker.

“Make it two.” Amber nods at Andrew’s request. Gibson and Montgomery enter the room carrying balloons and greeting everyone with smiles.

“Hey, we’re not too late, are we?”

“Nope we wouldn’t sign these papers without everyone present.” Maya tells Jack.

Soon Beckett, Theo, and Sullivan come on and they gather around the counter where the manila folder is. Carina turns to Andrew and he gladly holds Liam for her with Amber next to him carrying Lucy. Travis grabs the carseat and sets it on the counter so Andrea can watch her big brother finally be a part of the family in legals terms.

Maya takes a deep breath before opening the folder, taking the paper out and grabbing the pen from her shirt pocket clicking it.

“Here we go.” Maya looks at Carina who smiles in joy while Vic is on the other side of the counter filming this moment on her phone with a smile. Maya signs her cursive on one of the two dotted lines on the bottom. She holds the pen out to Carina with a smile, “We’re halfway there.”

Carina smiles taking the pen, “Let me finish it then.” Carina leans down the counter and signs her own name below Maya’s. As soon as she finishes everyone around them cheers. Maya laughs and brings out the cake revealing the design. It’s a white rectangular sheet cake with a blue wave like ocean at the bottom with Goldfish crackers swimming in it and a reel with a line in the frosty sea. Across the white sheet written in blue frosting on top is ‘O-fish-aly Ours!’ Liam DeLuca-Bishop 05-12-24’

The group chuckles and awes at the cake with Carina joking, “Bambina you have now reached cheesy parent status.”

“Well, it’s all for my son.” Maya takes Liam from Andrew’s arms and smiles at him, “Did you hear that little dude? I’m officially your mama!” Liam smiles wide as Carina wraps her arms around Maya’s torso pulling both of them against her.

“That’s right bambino, we’re your mama’s in heart and paper now.” They coo at the baby while Andy gets two blue baby bottles that are filled with white wine instead of milk. She gives them to the legal mommy’s with a smile.

“Courtesy of Tia Andy so you guys can toast properly to getting through the first year with him.”

Maya chuckles at the bottles, “Thank you.” Carina holds up her bottle to toast and Maya does the same, “Cheers to…not dropping him on his head.”

“Or swallowing a safety pin. Cheers and a happy Mother’s Day, mommy!”

Maya smiles at the coincidence of both the adoption date and Mother’s Day set at the same time as if fate knew they were meant to be mother’s all along, “Happy Mother’s Day, mama.” They clink their bottles and celebrate their first day as official parents to their beloved and beautiful son.

Idk how step-parents work but I’m kind of surprised Alex step-mom didn’t ask if he wanted to meet his half brother. There are just so many missed opportunities for the audience to see Alex with his siblings. Listen I love when Alex sticks up for a random child or teen but I want to see him with his family, his siblings. I hated that line he said to Jo about “we’re all the family we need” like dude you have siblings, they can’t be included in this?? I’d get it if they had a bad relationship but he sends them money and tried to protect them from their abusive father, came back to help Amber when their brother tried to kill her. It’s just so unfair. We got to meet all of George’s brothers..

Powdered Donuts, Princess Crowns, and Bubbles

In which Jo announces something to Alex (unintentionally with the help of Luna); Inspired by the powdered donut scene in the closet.

A/N: This is my first published fanfic, so pleeease be nice. That being said, enjoy, and comments, prompt suggestions, and reviews are always welcome in the comments or in the 'ask me anything' box.

Side note: I'm partially ignoring canon with this fic, bc Jolex is my OTP and Grey's writers damaged me with Alex's exit.

"Here. I'm sorry for how I've been with you lately." Jo said apologetically to Alex, her voice fragile as she handed him an envelope with a box attached.

She'd been mad at Alex for reasons he didn't understand, and to be perfectly honest, she didn't understand them either...until she found out about this.

"Hey, don't worry about it. It's okay. What's this?" His voice was soft, and curious, and his eyes were gentle.

"Open it." Her face flickered with a ghost of a smile, but her eyes were nervous.

Alex's face lit up as he opened the box to find powdered donuts, but that expression quickly turned into a confused one, then finally one of worry. "Babe, did I miss an anniversary or something?"

"No, Alex, I promise you didn't miss anything. Just open the envelope," she said, sipping Alex's coffee and biting a donut.

Before Alex makes a move to steal a bite from Jo, Luna waltzes in, wearing a princess crown and blowing bubbles. "Moonshine, why're you wearing a crown?"

"Because, Daddy. Mommy's your princess. And that means I'm both of your princesses." Luna responds, very matter-of-factly, putting the bubble wand back into the container.

"Yes, you are, Luna-bug," Jo says, scooping her up, making Luna giggle.

"Mommy, that tickles!" Luna squeals before stopping to point at the envelope. "What's that, mama?"

"I don't know, Luna, why don't we let Daddy tell us?" She winked to Luna before smiling at Alex.

He opens the envelope, his face puzzled before morphing into one of pure joy. The envelope read, "Congrats!" signed by Mer, Bailey, Webber, April, Maggie, Amelia, Jackson, Owen, Arizona, Callie, Cristina, Aaron, Amber, and Helen.

"Jo, what is this?" Alex asks, in awe of what it might turn out to be.

"Well, how would you feel if I told you we're having another baby?"

"Jo, you better not be joking. Are you pregnant?"

She smiles, her eyes sparkling with unshed tears as she nods.

"Alex Karev, we're having a baby," she holds up a positive pregnancy test, the two pink lines obvious and almost too dark.

"Baby!" Luna cheers, blowing bubbles from Jo's arms as Alex leans in to sweetly kiss Jo on her lips before grabbing the donut in Jo's hand and bit into it.

"Baby, I love you, but I think I love donuts more," Alex said playfully as Jo softly swatted his hand away.

"Hey! What about me?" Luna said, both Jo and Alex laughing at her reaction.

"We love you too, princess. Now come on, we have donuts to finish!" Jo says, excitement filling Luna's eyes.

"Donuts!" Luna's remark had shown them just how ready Jo and Alex were to give their little girl a baby sister of brother.

"Do you think we're ready for it?" Alex asked as he saw his daughter's face light with happiness at the donuts.

"Mhmm, they'll love you just as much as you love them and Luna." Jo nodded, planting a kiss on Alex's lips, letting herself linger.

"And powdered donuts," he teases, kissing her back.

"Speaking of which, your daughter got into. You're putting her to bed tonight." Jo giggled, a sound that filled the room and Alex's heart.

"Always, baby. Always." He said, his voice filled with a conviction that resonated in both of them.

“That is freaky.” Travis says with a shocked expression after Vic showed him the picture she took of Maya and Mia.

Vic laughs as she leans over the beanery counter with Sean Beckett and Robert Sullivan next to her eating their lunches. Jack is also there on his break at Vic’s insistence getting a water bottle from the fridge. She showed the male firefighters and dispatcher the picture and they also agreed with Vic about Mia Knight looking so much like Maya who is also in the beanery drinking a protein shake with an amused face.

“We don’t look that much alike.” Maya repeats to the men who look at her baffled, “We don’t! If you look up close, she has a few more wrinkles than me, her face is sharper and her lips are thinner.”

“Also, she doesn’t have the butt chin.” Jack points out causing Maya to scoff.

“It’s a cleft chin call it that please and it’s one of the many differences between us that I can see and you all can’t. Even my wife can see it.”

Andy chuckles entering the beanery with a smile, “Well she loves you and she’s your wife so it’s her job to make sure you know you’re the only you there is in the world.”

Jack grins at his girlfriend, “So you would be the same if you met a guy who looked like me on the job?”

Andy grins at Jack, “I don’t think I would, nobody has that goofy smile and dopey eyes like you Gibson.”

Jack smiles at that, “You like my goofy smile and dopey eyes.”

Andy smiles, “Yes I do and I know nobody else can pull it off like you.”

Vic groans at the constant flirting between the recently rekindled couple, “We get it you two are in love please save it for after I leave so I don’t barf.”

Travis asks, “What does Maya 2.0 do? Does she run into fires or make everyone feel body shame?”

Andy turns away from Jack to continue the conversation, “She’s a runner she ran track.” Travis shrugs as he figured, “But she’s not a first responder she’s a lobbyist. In short, she’s a political genius who uses suave and charm to get her way.”

“Oh Bishop is right then they're not the same.” Beckett quips causing Sullivan and Travis to chuckle, “I once saw a guy at the grocery store who I swear looked just like me, those things can happen it doesn’t mean their a clone or a twin.”

“I think you’re talking about doppelgangers.”

Vic raises an eyebrow at Travis’s term, “Like The Vampire Diaries?”

Travis grins, “No it’s not a supernatural thing.”

“It seems pretty supernatural to me.” Andy chips in.

“It’s not, doppelgangers are biologically unrelated doubles, we see it all the time in celebrities and historical figures it can happen to us common folks.” He looks at Maya who looks unconvinced, “Your doppelganger as it turns out is a lobbyist from Los Angeles married to a physics nerd with three kids. Isn’t it kind of fun knowing what your double does in her average day as you live yours?”

Maya sighs, “…Assuming she is my doppelganger which she isn’t I guess it was kind of interesting.”

“I wonder what my doppelganger is doing right now?” Vic wonders in amusement, “I bet she’s a graphic designer who delivers fresh water to people in Africa and breaking gorgeous hearts left and right, that’s the dream I have.”

Andy joins in, “Mine is probably a special ops leader with mad sniping skills and badass tattoo’s she does herself up and down her arms.”

“My not related twin is at one of his million-dollar mansions he bought with his parent’s infinity pool.” Jack says with Andy grinning, “He’s probably floating in his large pool, drinking a pina colada out of a coconut and scouring the internet for antiques he’s impulsively buying.”

“Mine is probably straight.” Travis jokes, “With a 300-pound wife and 14 kids.”

Vic smiles at the image, “Now I would pay to see that.” The team chuckles with Vic while Maya grins enjoying the last days she and the team have together before Vic moves.

Four Hours Later

After successfully completing the C-Section Carina and Andrew watch from the nurse’s station into Mia’s room where they can see her lying in bed with her youngest son Phoenix. Her oldest Henry is standing by her side while Spencer holds their baby boy in his arms next to her. Amber is inside monitoring her and smiling at the baby in his arms but not getting distracted from her duties. Amber looks at the brother sister duo through the window and nods her head indicating things are good so far to their relief.

“I will give you two this, you gave that woman a day she will never forget.” Carina quips to Andrew who grins, “So whose idea was it to bring my wife here to meet my patient?”

“It was both of ours, I called, and Amber gave us visual, it was a team effort.”

“And what was the goal?”

“Well, the goal was to show you we were not insane and that you were wrong in saying she looks nothing like Maya. I mean come on you saw those two in the same room, can you honestly say there is nothing freaky going on here?”

Carina sighs and looks at Mia for a moment before shaking her head, “No I don’t see it.”

Andrew groans annoyed, “You are just being stubborn, how can you not see it?”

Carina smiles and explains, “Andrea there is no one like Maya Kathleen DeLuca-Bishop, no one.” Carina says in a loving way regarding her wife, “Can you say there is one person out there who is like Amber Stevie DeLuca?”

Andrew looks back at his wife through the window and sees her charting Mia’s vitals not noticing his gazing. He smirks knowing there is nobody as beautiful, smart, tough and opinionated as the woman he loves. There is no one out there who can spend the day scolding residents when they deserve it and still come home and shower their daughter with the love Amber never had growing up. It still boggles him that someone like her could fall for someone like him and still not see the effect she has on him after all these years.

He turns to Carina with a smile, “Fair enough.”

Carina nods, “Exactly so your plan failed. I’m always right and your always wrong.”

Andrew shakes his head annoyed at the smug grin Carina has, “There’s always next time.”

“You can’t change fate bambino.” Carina tells Andrew in pride and walks away from him confidently and he chuckles at her.

After Alex found out about his younger brother Aaron trying to kill his younger sister Amber, it would have been great if she stayed with him awhile, I just find Alex home life so interesting and it’s sucks we only get bits and pieces about it every now and then. I know we see his mom and dad but I’m so curious how he is with his sister or other siblings. Or just a random episode of his half brother coming to find him. Like potential storylines involving his family would have been so good.
