Reminder you are only not/poor based on luck. You could’ve been born disabled, with no chance to ever get off of SNAP or SSDI. And you deserve to have enough SNAP to eat what you would like to, even splurging on treats sometimes. You could be maimed in car accident today and never get off of SNAP and SSDI again. You will rely on similar programs when you are elderly.

Becoming disabled is inevitable unless you face a sudden and quick death. You will likely rely on social welfare someday, at least for part of your life. That’s what your taxes are meant for. We Americans have been made to believe the money isn’t there, that taxes are for certain programs and people but not others, that government should “be run like a business.”

The reason other countries are happier is because their taxes go to healthcare, education, and to support their population’s wellbeing. Ours goes to the military and police.

I think poor people deserve to buy luxuries for themselves
