I reckon we will win in the end of this trans culture war nonsense that republicans are dishing out but hhhh its awful to see discourse as we are having to unify against conservatives trying to crush us completely.
Tooth and nail, each of us together, this is how our forebearers earned our rights, and now we must come to defend them for ourselves as well as future generations.
Stop fighting about labels, let people identify however they want, enemies are abound and we need to be loud, be supportive of one another, and get people to know we are human. Through these actions, We will guarantee our survival.
It won’t be easy, but we’re not going to do it alone y’all <3

ngl I enjoyed season 2 of Loki, maybe more so than season 1, but it’s never not gonna bother me how American centric it is. And not in a “oh this American show is made for an American audience and that makes me mad” way, which is a dumb thing to be mad about, but just in a “why is the literal centrer of the universe America in this story about an alien norse god” kind of way. EVERYBODY in the tva is from the us. people that could come from anywhere, anywhen in the universe, all come from the same 200-ish years in the U.S.A
fcking Kang is from the USA (and the what, 19th century? Can’t remember) when I really thought season 1 was implying he was from the distant future, like the 3000s or something. It was a much coooler concept to have somebody from an unknown time period and unknown place play such a large role for once, instead of every significant MCU character being from settings we already know well
Sylvie, a *Loki* variant, meaning a Frost Giant adopted by asguardians, was suddenly free to explore all of time and space and decided to go work in a MacDonald’s in the us in the 20th century????? Why?????? Why wasn’t she downing shots on Contraxia 10000 thousand years from now? Watching stars being born a few billion years ago on a nova ship she borrowed from their year 74392? If she wanted a quiet peaceful life, how the frick is late 20th century rural America the best she could come up with? Why would she settle for that? Why not go hang out literally anywhere else tranquil and pretty in the universe?? I guess the in show explanation is that she just wound up there and decided it was good enough and she might as well stay, but why is it the best the *writers* could come up with?? how much did McDonald’s pay them? Heck, if that’s why Sylvie had to be in one, keep the mcdo and change the country, anything!
why do they not get that having every universe-significant event happen during a two centuries period in one country on one planet severely reduces the perceived scale of the universe? There are huis-clos movies that do a better job at implying a larger world than this *multiversal* time travelling adventure.

I was wondering, why do you want to live in the Netherlands specifically? (Being a Dutch person)
The Netherlands has incredible urban planning which is very alluring to me as I am from car-centric America. In addition, the Netherlands is pretty progressive on LGBTQIA+ and minority rights (though it is not perfect, no place is. The first conversation I had in Dutch was someone telling me non-binary people aren't real). From what I've heard as well, the crime rate isn't that high (I am aware of the fact that people steal bicycles literally all the time, though). The education system is also nice, though sadly not free. Same with the healthcare system. However in the Netherlands breaking your leg doesn't mean you'll go into debt for the next 10 years like it does in America. I had a 9 day hospital stay and my parents were billed 30,000 USD. They tried to hide it from me but I overheard the conversation.
To put it into a tl;dr, the quality of life in the Netherlands is leagues above the U.S and I feel that living there would improve my life greatly as opposed to staying in the U.S for my entire life. (Also, the language is cool, ngl)

✨Simblr New Years Resolutions 2024✨
Tagged by @cassandragoth26 (:
What's your Resolution for your Simblr?
Keeping my queue going, I suppose? But also not pushing myself too much since I'm a full time student with other hobbies too. Finishing gen 6 of the Borealis legacy, maybe? Make friends, talk more to my mutuals maybe. A lot of the people who were here and who I talked to when I joined aren't active anymore, so I'm going to have to put some effort in lol.
In general I just want to be a positive presence here
What do you want from the Sims Franchise?
I'd love a revamp of the aliens and mermaids. There's very little worthwile about them as they are in game right now, as much as it pains me to admit. Less kits and more stuff packs. Quality over quantity. Less "america-centric" content and more diversity. What we have so far is p good. It'd be nice if something was done w the family trees. Working elevators would be really good for For Rent gameplay and building. Less bugs and glitches overall. I just want it to be a better quality game.
I remember there being theories about sign language before For Rent, but we didn't get that. Would be nice though.
Any other New Years Resolutions?
I don't really tend to do resolutions, but I set my reading goal to 25 this year, so I'm crossing my fingers about that. I wanna watch tons of good movies. More international and more Norwegian cinema for sure. Write more. Play great games. Finish that one sweater I've been knitting. Maybe start knitting another one I want. I wanna try knitting socks for my mom for her birthday or christmas maybe. (I'm knitting my first pair ever and I need her help a lot so we'll see how that goes. First one looks p good tho ngl). Take more pictures. Get better at photography. Get the pictures I've been taking on the film camera I got developed, but I need to use up all my pictures before that.
A lot of wishful thinking lol
Tagging @hiddenspriings, @theworstsimblr and @nervousgnome 😁 (but no pressure of course, as always)

“some of the American suburbs I've seen are honest to god hostile to human life” this…. This articulates what I’ve been thinking about parts of America for a while tbh. And the worst part is most people aren’t even aware of it? Not through any fault of their own but the “America is the Greatest Place on Earth and we Must Save Everyone Else” mentality is so strong that a lot of people honestly believe it? Imagine not being able to walk 5 mins to your nearest food shop? What the fuck? I mean, parts of Essex are shit and built around cars as well but dear God. Another horrifying American thing I’ve been looking into recently is the teaching profession and how the s h i t e working conditions are driving a horrifying teacher shortage that no one seems to want to do anything about? Hospitality staff having to rely on tips to make ends meet is bad enough but needing to take on a second job when you’re a teacher with a master’s degree on top of having to pay for school supplies for your class or make an Amazon wish list… that country is a real-live dystopia ngl. I’m done with the unexpected rant you definitely didn’t ask for lol but that garage post did something to me
yeah, like... obviously I'm not going to sit here and act like this is a strictly American problem because god knows my country has issues too, but these issues combined with the whole propaganda thing? it honestly terrifies me, and I think a lot of Americans don't even realise it's happening -- at least not until they get old enough to get online and learn about how things go in other countries. a lot of Americans are becoming aware of it now, but there are still so many people of all ages who genuinely outright believe or just don't question what's being taught.
I bitch a lot about how American-centric the internet is, and with good reason. I've had Americans say very offensive things to me because of ignorance over basic facts, and I've been accused of lying because I've spelled things "wrong" or stated things that have happened that apparently wouldn't have happened in America. it's frustrating that the mere consideration that I might not be an American doesn't even cross their minds, and it's annoying that I have to censor my own language and dialect so that Americans don't ridicule me or deliberately misunderstand me so they can make stupid jokes. like, this is all valid criticism -- when I'm online, for example, I do not presume that everyone I'm speaking to is Irish. I don't even presume everyone I'm speaking to is American. it seems straightforward to me, but apparently a lot of people out there just don't bother.
however, I know that a lot of this isn't a conscious, deliberate choice to be an ass. the absolutely abyssmal public education in America is partly to blame... and to be honest, the American-centricness that these people grow up with, I think, makes it physically impossible for a lot of them to consider others. it doesn't occur to them because it's never been taught to them. now, if you point it out, and they still keep at it, that's just being a dick. but you can hardly condemn somebody for something they didn't even realise they were doing. they're literally indoctrinated from birth to accept all these absolutely insane things -- shitty public transport, no sidewalks or stores at all in their massive European-city sized neighbourhoods, terrible public education, fucking lunch debt, having to pay for something as basic a human right as healthcare, working for below minimum wage and having to rely on tips, school shootings for Christ's sake -- and because they're also told that America is The Greatest, they assume (and are often outright told) that other countries are much worse. the genuine anger, surprise, and disbelief I've seen from Americans when I've explained how things are in my country is unbelievable. once a person expressed disbelief in a story I told because it centred around the ending up in the emergency room with a friend, and he could not wrap his head around how I wasn't stressed about bills, and why I called an ambulance when technically we could have got a taxi. (hint: I called an ambulance because my friend was in agony, and you know... that's what the ambulance service is for. it never even occured to me to do anything else. at the hospital it turned out she had a broken elbow, so good call, really.) he was absolutely astounded when I told him it cost me nothing. not a single penny. he had been constantly told that socialised healthcare would never work, and when he realised that I don't even notice my taxes coming out to pay for it, he got pissed, wondering why his country couldn't do the same. it's absolutely insane, what American people are forced to live with -- and then they're lied to, straight up, and told that this is the best it gets.
to my American followers, I am so glad you're waking up to this bullshit, but you have got to keep pushing back. the world is watching your country with heartbreak and horror. to many of us, you live in hell. even with my own country's absolute bullshit (and I say this as someone who grew up in a warzone and who is now putting up with the national embarrassment that is Brexit) you could not pay me to live in America. you couldn't even pay me to visit, at this point. sincerely, wishing you a very pleasant revolution.

Ngl metal gear is really great for learning cultural trivia. They do have a Japanese equivalent to weebs, its people who are unhealthily obsessed with cowboys and guns and wild west, think all of America is wild west, even has like... intercommunity discourse on treatment of Indigenous folks in their media, how corrupt the laws are, how women are treated etc. In these shows/movies.
Where did I learn this at the age of 13? Googling 'why is Revolver Ocelot a cowboy' and going through one of the weirdest rabbit holes yet. Some of it was from US tourist/teacher sources, some of it was from people who have always lived in Japan, some of it was just directly related to the character of Ocelot but honestly I wanted to learn more about cowboy fan culture in Japan bc I thought it was kind of neat, that was like my first time learning how other countries perceived the US that wasnt 'everyone is lazy and eats too much'
It also kind of made me appreciate Ocelot more, Kojima really just put a cowboy in mgs1 to make the western fans happy in his very American centric action stealth game. It's funny bc there really was no reason for a cowboy to be in a military game which is why I googled it in the first place so like, I guess it makes sense culturally.
The fact that Ocelot and Otacon are both a gift to and tongue in cheek joke about these types of people is something that I always liked about mgs. Kojima and co. Are just like really aware of the kind of people at home and in other countries who play their games and like to give little nods to everyone. While still making fun of them

Thank you so, so, so much for that Tony Stark post. Because, yes, exactly you hit the nail on the head: he is not personally controllable with legislation and he is definitely suffering from guilt and self recrimination but that DOES NOT MEAN you get to hurt others. He is painful to watch. I've never seen anyone articulate it so well, thank you. I ended up writing an essay in my notes just agreeing with you a lot because he cannot use his pain as an excuse for the scale of damage he does.
Where is the essay nonny??? I cannot find it. Show meeeeee.
💖 Thank you for the positivity! Ngl it’s always scary criticizing a popular character, you never know what’s going to happen.
I’ve tried a lot of times to respond to this ask without going on another tirade, but they keep building up, especially whenever I see someone tearing Steve down to build Tony up, and I go from zero to a full head of steam so fast.
I’ve avoided engaging about it, but it fucks me up so bad every time, it’s crazy.
Because I didn’t think I was all that attached to Cap, I don’t even really consider myself a fan, but he. Right up until that unintentionally appalling ending they derailed his character into, he worked so hard to be good.
He doesn’t want to kill anyone, but he doesn’t like bullies.
He spent his entire life under conditions of extreme suffering, and unlike Tony he refused to let it warp him into something vicious and selfish that lashed out at others to comfort himself--or rather, he bound himself with adamantine chains to make sure that when he used violence, even as a coping mechanism, it was only ever against people more powerful than him, individually or in aggregate, who were doing something harmful he could interfere against, and who had the freedom to walk away.
Tony never bothered with any of that. He doesn’t have to. No one expects anything of him, in his life or ours; our standards are in the basement and we’re super willing to identify with him, so even the manifestation of the awareness that he did something wrong is cheered like heroism. He expects ‘points’ for remembering there was a connection between Pepper and strawberries, even if she’s allergic and he thought they were her favorite, and he gets them.
All he has to do is turn away from being his worst self, no matter how many times he completes that rotation a full 360 degrees, and we’ll cheer for him.
Which is a great character design strategy! Honestly! Except they walked it into the ground.
Tony was introduced as someone learning to be better, but then he wound up getting worse and worse and worse. His redemption arc derailed really early, because Marvel Studios were lazy or afraid or didn’t trust their audience, idk.
He sacrificed so many people to his own gaping emotional wound, that hungry maw of egotism turned Byronic and recharacterized as heroism, as goodness or at least its sketch.
Jumping on the grenade is so much easier than reining yourself in every minute, not abusing your power, respecting the lives and needs of others and treating them as real.
Nothing Tony ever achieved moved the dial away from his narcissism, and very little of it did anything about the toxicity of how he inhabited that narcissism. And a heroic death would be nothing in the face of his personal crimes even if it had been one that was a little more rationally necessary, and not one that took several hours of movie and the contrived failure of every other person in the setting to even be possible or relevant.
(And even if you’re willing to hang onto suspension of disbelief and pretend that dropping 3.5  billion refugees into a world that just barely patched itself together in the face of 50% mortality somehow isn’t going to result in a staggering death toll.)
Unlike Vader, Tony Stark died as he lived, and so the death means much, much less.
With great power comes great responsibility, and with his billions Tony was always the most powerful Avenger, because Thor never took his throne when it was still tall and golden and untouchable. And he spat on that principle every day of his life.
And when people act like his ‘suffering’ somehow justifies that, it’s like every single piece of the warped rich-white-confident-male-centric empathy gap of our culture leaping into life and strangling all ethical rationality and justice. I just.
I know it’s just superheroes. I know it’s not serious. Except superheroes and cinema are mainstays of our shared cultural sense of right and wrong. The Violence Against Women Act exists purely because of the shift in public perception created by one movie about one real woman.
So when a massive superhero film franchise has a moral narrative that I find repulsive, and I see that reasoning echoed out in the world, it feels important.
I am attached to Steve, small angry starving Steve looking Death in the face every day he drew breath and refusing to blink, but I think what’s making me so damn mad when I see this insistence on tearing him down to prop up a mass murderer is the proof that even Captain America, who is white and male and tall and beautiful and romantically interested in women, who ticks all these boxes that help when it comes to Mattering, still doesn’t have enough Real Person Points to stand up against the absolute certainty in a billionaire’s heart that he is the only real person in the universe, that his self-pity is the truest sorrow that ever was.
Not in Tony’s eyes, and not when it comes to our willingness as a society to inexplicably believe him.

tw// pedophilia
i've read online that of size kinks (usually when one partner is much smaller than the other), corruption kinks, and virgin kinks come from the pedophile community(idk what you call it). These three traits are commonly associated with children. When these three are grouped together it sort of makes me raise an eyebrow. Like i get that someone can be short or a virgin but sometimes the way writers word the conversations between two characters is a bit questionable. Of course i get that this isn't what some writers intend to happen but yeah... this opinion is coming from an american, so it probably differs between different countries but idk
hmm yeah that was kind of where I was going when I mentioned the whole belle delphine and Bella poarch thing but i was kind of afraid to say it with my chest. like I’m aware people have no control over how they’re built or how tall they are or if they’re virgins, and I’m ngl sometimes the corruption thing is hot when treated the right way, but the obsession with the virginity purity and taking someone’s innocence is definitely built of the back of the pedophilla that runs rampant. pedophiles run everything, from normal media to pornography. This is more evident than ever with so many people being exposed through the me too movement and with porn directors openly admitting to catering to their pedophillic audience. And I pray that with the writers on here that that is not their intentions but yes it does sometimes start to get a bit suspicious at times. And that’s also true I think this, and a lot of what happens on the internet, is america centric so idk the situation in other countries fully but I know sexualization of young girls is evident everywhere.

Do you have any resources about police brutality in the uk? I’ve been reading a lot of the stuff I see, but everything is so America centric that I feel I don’t understand our own countries issues let alone know what to do as an activist for them. Ngl, kind of frustrating how the world is (rightfully) being told to pay attention to this issue we all have, yet the only info being spread is specific to America
I apologize, but I don’t have any independently acquired ones. It’s outside my wheelhouse.
That being said: The UK is Not Innocent – Police Racism Has a Long and Violent History Here Too We Need To Talk About Police Brutality In The U.K.
WHY ARE WE IGNORING POLICE BRUTALITY IN THE UK?

But the answer is 002 for all six Runaways. :P Tell me your deep thoughts on all the babies.
Gert Yorkes
How I feel about this character: baby angel, love of my life, best girl in the world, object of my projection
All the people I ship romantically with this character: chase stein
My non-romantic OTP for this character: obviously i love her relationship with molly, but her and alex had a couple of moments where they played off of each other in a very fun way!
My unpopular opinion about this character: idk that i really have one? i love hulu gert more than comic gert but idk if that’s super unpopular? ariela plays her so beautifully and i adore that girl but let people be sad about the fat rep being erased bc it was already inconsistent?
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: ariela’s mentioned wanting to explore her latinx heritage, and i want that so badly.
my OTP: gertchase gertchase gertchase
my cross over ship: lmao idek maybe elena alvarez bc i deserved elena/carmen
a headcanon fact: when she was six she told everyone she was gonna marry nico so nico would have to share her light up sneakers which made nico cry bc she didn’t want to get married OR share, which made gert cry, which made chase cry because gert was crying. Amy told on all of them.
Chase Stein
How I feel about this character: he’s BABY. i love him. he’s trying his best. leave him alone he’s sad.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: gert yorkes.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: also alex tbh. let them be BROS.
My unpopular opinion about this character: it’s possible to make dumb decisions for valid reasons tbh. chase still has a lot of growing to do, but he got really vulnerable this season. he’s starting to confront and untangle a lot of shitty weird feelings around an abusive upbringing and i think it’s so far pretty fuckin nuanced.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: lol i want him to be able to say that the way both of his parents have treated him isn’t okay, and i want him get closure, and i want him to talk to his friends.
my OTP: gertchase gertchase gertchase
my cross over ship: uhhhhh idk peter parker would be funny tbh. or ty johnson?
a headcanon fact: was the green power ranger four times for halloween as a kid. bullied karolina, gert, and amy all into being the pink ranger different years; nico kicked him in the shin in lieu of a no.
Molly Hernandez
How I feel about this character: sweet baby child!!
All the people I ship romantically with this character: she’s a baby!!! klara prast i guess?
My non-romantic OTP for this character: oh chase and molly siblings in law 4ever
My unpopular opinion about this character: i’m torn between missing the dynamic that came w molly legit being so much younger in the comics but also liking the conflict being treated as younger when she’s really not much younger brings.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: i wanted chase to nickname her bruiser so badly lmao.
my OTP: i don’t rly have one? i do know molly is a lesbian tho
my cross over ship: don’t have one
a headcanon fact: pretended to like one direction more than she ever did so gert could use her as a cover for going to concerts willing keeping her pretentious 14 year old Indie Fan Cred. Pretended to dislike them more than she did in front of gert for Bribes.
Nico Minoru
How I feel about this character: my witchy daughter whom i love!
All the people I ship romantically with this character: karolina dean. i didn’t mind alex, just not long term.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: nico and chase bickering siblings forever!!
My unpopular opinion about this character: i think my hulu nico opinions are all really standard, but i had a ton of issues with how she was written in the comics? mostly i do not think there’s a single man including bkv who has written comics of that character in a fair way lmao.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I just want quieter, relationship navigating moments with karolina, because they’ve been pretty plot centric or Big Declarations which is so nicer to see centered for a f/f ship! but i want some of the smaller moments where they’re just teenagers dating in a precarious situation
my OTP: deanoru
my cross over ship: idk kate bishop?
a headcanon fact: misses her co-star app with a burning passion, forced alex to let her use a hostel computer to do everyone’s charts. gert started off very critical, ends up yelling THIS IS BECAUSE YOU HAVE VENUS IN VIRGO at chase two hours later, nico is very smug
Karolina Dean
How I feel about this character: baby angel daughter!!!!
All the people I ship romantically with this character: nico minoru. julie power was fine you guys are just mean! interested to see how they do xavin in the show?
My non-romantic OTP for this character: more karolina and gert please!
My unpopular opinion about this character: i think her motivations w jonah made sense but weren’t earned enough by the storyline and it kind of did a disservice to her character development and also made her reaction to chase’s stuff kind of weird ngl.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: i just kind of wish her conflict with her parentage was stronger ngl? i think she had the best written parent betrayal in the comics, and i kind of wish we’d gotten something similar.
my OTP: deanoru
my cross over ship: america chavez?
a headcanon fact: tells nico she thought being born on a cusp meant she gets to pick which zodiac sign she feels more like. she kind of knows that’s not right, but nico’s really cute when she gets worked up about that kind of stuff.
Alex Wilder
How I feel about this character: BABY BOY
All the people I ship romantically with this character: livvie. again, liked nico in a temporary way? i’ve seen people write alex/victor mancha and i’m not mad about it.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: CHASE ALEX BROS
My unpopular opinion about this character: uh i love him and think he’s Trying His Best to stay in control of situation that he’s increasingly disillusioned by and also comic alex was a 16 year old kid who trusted and loved his parents in a way that was a lot more nuanced that the villainry he gets painted with~
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: i just want him to interact with the other kids more. rhenzy plays off them all really well.
my OTP:  alex/livvie? I think i’m less invested bc we’ve seen less of her but they were SO cute and i really want to see more of her
my cross over ship: .......also peter parker?
a headcanon fact: him and chase did star wars marathons like once a month growing up and always yell HAN SHOT FIRST in unison like total fucking dweebs. he hasn’t seen a new hope since before amy died.
