it was the time of the dwapur yuga the great rishi or sage vyasa composed an epic poem which he called the
rishi vyasa mahabharata the son of satyavati and rishi parashara since he was of dark complexion and was born in an island he was also called krishna dwaipayan
vyasa composed the poem but couldn't write it down because his thoughts ran faster than his pen so he was looking for a scribe who could write the verses at the same speed with which he recited them but he could find none vyasa invoked lord brahma brahma appeared before vyasa and asked why did you call me vyasa what do you yes i want oh lord i have composed this wonderful poem an epic it is the story of mankind the story of our humanity but i need someone who can write it while i recite the verses can you recommend someone brahma said i think ganesha would be the best person for this job why don't you ask him yours are called ganesha elephant headed god ganesha appeared and asked i understand you are looking for a scribe for your poem yes i am said vyasa i can write your poem for you said but i have a condition my pen should never stop if you ever hesitate while reciting your poem and my pen stops it will not start again and i will leave right away we are thought for a while and then said i agree but i also have a condition you cannot write a single word or verse without understanding it ganesha thought that should be easy after all ganesha is a god and vyasa a mere human being how could vyasa write something that you won't understand ganesha agreed to vyasa's condition and sat down to write vyasa started dictating the poem but whenever vyasa ran out of material and needed some time he would compose a verse with difficult words and complicated phrases even the god ganesha had to stop and think to decipher those phrases while vyasa composed few more in his mind thus the great story of mahabharata began to take shape with this wonderful collaboration between vyasa and ganesha
long long ago there lived a king named shantanu who ruled over a vast kingdom in the northern india
one day shantanu was strolling along the riverbank enjoying the cool breeze and listening to the soothing sounds of the flowing water suddenly he saw a beautiful maiden rise from the water and walked toward the riverbank shantanu was awestruck by your exquisite beauty and he understood what love at first sight meant he felt an invisible force pull him towards the lady as he lost all control over himself he stood in front of the gorgeous lady and asked wherever you are my lady i am in love with you and i cannot live a single moment without you please please marry me and save my life i king shantanu of beg for your mercy the lady smiled and said i am flattered looking but i have a couple of conditions for any suitor who wants to marry me if you can agree to my conditions i'll marry you but i must warn you these conditions are not easy to keep especially for a husband said for you i can agree to any condition the lady smiled again and said listen to them before you agree first you can never ask or inquire about who i am or where i come from second you can never stop me or ask me for any explanations for any of my actions whatever they may be if you ever break your promise i'll leave you at once do you think you can agree to these conditions the infatuated king didn't have the patience to think through he said i agree i will never ask you who you are and i will never stop you from doing anything now will you please marry me the lady agreed shantanu took her to his palace in hastinapur and married her in a grand wedding ceremony the happy couple spent a great year together until their first child a boy actually my opinion is about i like this story maharaja so much so much this proud about me that i am indian right now this is oh you know and what about you don't you like the mahabharat don't you like this story huh don't you please comment what are you waiting for it comment yes
that his wife has given birth to a beautiful little boy he left his coat and ran to the birthing chamber but as he entered the room he saw his queen pick up the newborn baby wrap him in a shawl and walk out of the room shantanu was about to ask where she was going but he remembered his promise and kept quiet he followed her as she left the palace and went to the bank of the river where they had first met and there he saw his queen drop the baby into the river and within moments the boys sunk into the deep waters shantanu was horrified how could a mother do such a thing to her own child he wanted to scream at his wife but again he remembered his promise not to ask any questions or demand any explanations he was heartbroken but he kept his mouth shut after about a year when shantanu had almost forgotten the trauma of losing his first son the queen gave birth to another child and this time too the shocked king saw his queen drown the baby in the river right after his birth shantanu could neither protest nor demand any explanation for a horrific behavior one after another the queen gave birth to seven sons and each time she took the baby and drowned him in the river the king bound by his promise stood silent and watched the tragic events when the eighth son was born and the queen was about to drown the baby in the river shantanu couldn't take it anymore he shouted stop stop this i won't tolerate this anymore the queen stopped and said but you've promised the angry king said i don't care for my promise anymore how could you be so cruel how could you kill your own child i have kept my mouth shut all these years but i won't let you kill my child anymore the queen smiled and said you have broken your promise hence i must leave you but before i leave i'll tell you the reasons for my action i am ganga the river goddess these eight sons seven of whom have drowned in the river are the eight vassous of the heavens
once the bosses visited rishi washington provoked by their wives they stole vashista's cow nandini my sister was furious and cursed them that they would be born as humans and go to the sufferings as any human does the fossils were scared they cried and prayed for his mercy only prahasha the eighth vasu the one who stole the cow stood defiant finally bashista calmed down but he couldn't take back his curse he said the vasus would have to be born as humans but the seven of them who begged for his mercy would be short-lived i was assigned to be their mother and i had to relieve them of their curse by drowning them right after their birth but the eighth vasu prabhasa would live a long life on this earth and endure the sufferings of human life the eighth son of yours is the eighth vasu
shantanu was amazed to hear the story he pleaded to ganga please please don't leave it would be hard for a boy to grow up without a mother ganga said i am sorry my job is over and i must go now i'll take this child with me and train him to be your worthy son then one day i will return your son to you saying so she disappeared into the river with the newborn baby
shantanu was heartbroken he was sad and depressed every day shanthan would go back to the river bank with the faint hope to see ganga come back with a son days passed months passed years passed but ganga didn't come back

Reading the latest ORV Side Story update: Kim Dokja is a transcendent being. He is a god, and the most human character all at the same time. He is tragedy and he is hope. He is joy and he is sorrow. He is brilliant and powerful and yet helpless, and every other character in this story either fears him or loves him, and they all want to find him, because he is the most important existence in the whole universe.
Reading the latest ORV Webtoon update: lmaoooo look at this dumbass loser.

even ignoring everything else wrong with lore olympus (which in itself feels impossible) there is just something really egregious and insulting at the way a "modern retelling" over an ancient greek myth just full-heartedly whitewashes the entire culture and mythos.
and it's not like rachel is the first to do it - greek myths and legends have been whitewashed for centuries, depictions of the gods have been categorically stripped of their ethnicity and origins long before rachel got a hold of them. it's the fact that rachel goes out of her way to insult the original myths whenever she can, that she emphasizes and pushes a western-centric mindset and viewpoint over and over and over and not only reinforces the whitewashing, but continues it down the line.
like, this is the first episode.
Tumblr media
rachel goes out of her way to mock the original styles and wardrobes of the ancient greek world, and i get her attempt was to make persephone feel "out of place" with the more "modern" clothing that the other gods wear, but it really just does more to a) demonize demeter, who is almost always in traditional clothing, b) sexualize persephone.
go even broader with it, move away from the clothing itself, and rachel doesn't even bother to use any of the ancient traditions that are core to the myths. like for the love of god, she uses a christian wedding for persephone and hades!
Tumblr media
greece is the birthplace of modern democracy and had a powerful judicial system, and rachel instead uses the modern / western iteration of court because ... why not
Tumblr media
(completely unrelated but the inserts of everyone except eros and aphrodite come from the stupid zoom session zeus had back when he first charged persephone with treason, meaning we have proof yet again that rachel isn't drawing the characters into the scene, she's making pngs and sticking them into pre-arranged backgrounds downloaded from stock images)
and there are ten thousand more examples i could pull, because this is just the whole entire comic. you can look at a lot of modern adaptions and see where things have been modernized respectfully, and where they are done with disdain for the source material - no one is claiming percy jackson, for example, is perfect, but the author took a great deal of care in his research, and the love for the original myths and culture shine through. lore olympus has zero respect for the original stories, exemplified in how rachel demonizes demeter - the actual crux of the myth. it's bad writing and bad research and further attempts to whitewash a rich and storied culture that had people from so many walks of life, who existed in full spectrum of lgbt identity, who did not conform or even know of the world that exists today. you can modernize without erasing it, and rachel's refusal to do so is one of the many issues tacked to lore olympus.

Ghost Cores are Dionesium
So! I while ago, I saw a Post about Danny and the Court of Owls, and one suggestion in the comments basically said, "What if Dionesium, the stuff they use to bring back the dead, is just Ghost Cores?"
And that got me thinking. Lazarus Pits are just Dionesium Infused Water, so how would they be created if Dionesium is a Ghosts Core? Well they way I see it, Lazarus Pits can only be formed in 2 Ways.
The first way is for a large number of Ghosts to be Ended at the same time, with their shattered Cores piling up and dissolving into Water.
The other way, if for an Ancient to Die. The Ancients are practically God's, and as such their Cores are immense in Power. When an Ancient dies, and their Core is left to dissolve in the Human Realm, it forms a Lazarus Pit in the exact same way it would take hundreds of normal Cores to do so.
Where am I going with this?
Well, isn't there a Giant Lazarus Pit under Gotham? The Batcave even has one, doesn't it?
The reason Gotham is so cursed isn't because Lady Gotham likes to collect Curses, or because her Ectoplasm is corrupted, it's because she isn't there to stop them anymore.
Lady Gotham is Dead.
Her Core sank deep into the Earth, forming a Lazarus Pit under the entire City, but thankfully far away from her People. She died, and only the fact that she is a Conceptual spirit saved a piece of her Consciousness. She represents a City, she can only fully be killed if the entire City is leveled. That doesn't mean she is still alive however, just that the barest sliver of her mind is hanging on by a Thread.
This is how Gotham possessed Batman that one time, it was her base instincts saving one of her precious children.
If you want her to be a little more cognizant, maybe she is just severely Injured? Her Core is cracked to the edge of shattering and she desperately needs help.
She she calls out to whoever could save her, and a certain Ghost Boy hears her cry for help?

i don't normally make posts about things myself but i keep thinking about how the whole point of EW was that the strength you needed didn't come from a god, or a supreme being, or a primal or anything: it all comes from you
your love for this world and your friends and everything that you allow purpose and meaning- that is what gives you the strength to climb to your feet, even when you feel utterly alone at the end of the universe
In Shb we had Ardbert who gave us the strength to take that next step, but in EW we are alone (save for Zenos i guess but this ain't about him). That's why even though I agree that "it was the ancients" is becoming an extremely stale take, I still forgive MotR and the Twelve because it's hammering in EW's theme of being enough to handle what life throws at you without needing to rely on something much larger than yourself
EW's plot- and even the Omicron quests -point to the fact that dynamis alone does nothing. It has to be moved to action by feelings/emotions for it to work. As N-7000 says, "all [dynamis] requires is for us to ask "what if?""
Zodiark did not save the Ancients. Hydaelyn cannot save Her Children. The Twelve do not answer your cries. Primals are bound to the prayers of those that summon them.
The Warrior of Light is an imperfect being. More talented than most, but imperfect yet. EW does not make you a god. It shows that change can be wrought by anyone, at any time. You need not do it alone: there are others willing to come to your aid. But when you are alone, at the end of your rope, facing insurmountable odds: the strength you need can only come from within.

Sonia redesign + Zelda (ancient)
she is the one to seal ganondorf in an intentionally cruel way to take revenge for him killing rauru
she also had a daughter from a previous marriage that she named Zelda after an ancient legend from long forgotten times; while she technically had both time and light powers, she could only take ahold of one (struggeling to grasp a certain power you are pressured to awaken reference ;) ) which is time, it was not the one she was supposed to manifest as her status was always associated with light, in her younger years she was often looked down upon but despite that later proved to be a capable leader
shortly after her first marriage was ended rauru and the rest of the remaining sonau (engl zonai) came from the underground to warn the folks living on the surface from a great evil that was told about in ancient texts they had found while mining desperately for the stones they had grown reliant on for survival
this warning later evolves into the plan to seal ganondorf away before he could even become a threat, through all those discussion and planning sonia and rauru grew closer and eventually married; the plan was to be executed in secret to give ganondorf no time to even consider to reveal what demon they believed he really was, but the secret got out and ganondorf enacted a counterattack in the form of stealing one of the enigma stones in order to put pressure on the hyrulian kingdom, but he gets betrayed by the gerudo that will be their sage in the last confrontation, however in the time that the gerudo sage takes to warn sonia and mobilize to save rauru ganondorf has already confronted him and though he did not plan to kill him he does so, more on accident really, as rauru did not listen to a single word he said but instead acted erratic like a helpless man trapped in a cage with a hungry bear, essentially starting a fight of life and death
when sonia arrives at the scene it is already to late; thanks to the enigma stone ganondorf can escape her grief-striken rage but sonia is out for revenge and sees him killing rauru as proof of the warnings of old, she wages war and at the end seals ganondorf in a cruel cage between life and death, even at the cost of her own life
her daughter, having witnessed it all, grows up bitter and determined to make hyrule a kingdom that will never fall again
(totk rewritten project)

Took me one look at this The Terror poster to know immediately exactly where it's from
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To be more specific, this illustration ties to this exact part of the poem:
And through the drifts the snowy clifts
Did send a dismal sheen:
Nor shapes of men nor beasts we ken--
The ice was all between.
The ice was here, the ice was there,
The ice was all around:
It cracked and growled, and roared and howled,
Like noises in a swound!

The house of Nightingale & Constantine ( P. 3 )
> previous
.・゜-: ✧ :-
"Why are you avoiding me." Green eyes, sharp and unflinching, locked on Danny.
Startled, he turns to the younger boy, Damian? Bruce's only blood kid, he reminds himself.
"I'm not avoiding you." He denies, shaking his head, eyes trailing off.
But Damian knows, he learned and memorised the movements, signs, and behaviour of human kind.
"Do not lie to me, Nightingale."
The use of the name triggers something, and both Damian and Danny jump back, startled and cautious.
"What's the meaning of this!" The boy demanded, snatching his sword from the hilt.
The other raised his hands, pleading. "Look Damian– put the sword down and let me explain, please?"
They stood in tense silence, the sword pushed down reluctant and swiftly tugged back in.
"Explain."
Danny sighs in relief.
"You're more than aware of your parentage, yes?"
A nod, if not slightly confused. "Wayne?"
"No, al Ghul."
He keeps his facial expression and body language closed, obviously trained, and tilts his head to the Ghost. Listening, assessing.
Danny swallows as the air takes on sparks, dangerously close to one another.
If only Dick was in the mansion, maybe he'd cut the air with a knife followed by laughter and help him escape.
"The al Ghul line is in a delicate balance that can be toppled any time," he explains. "it's an old house, new compared to the houses of ancient, but powerful."
"You're saying," Damian drawls, carefully placing the words to form the sentence. "that the line of Al Ghul is... magic." He is studying the older, eyes narrowed and focused.
He knew such accusation would be called ridiculous by the younger. It would definitely earn him a few attempted kills.
"Not all dark houses are magic, just magic adjusted. The reason al Ghul is where it is today is that the founder, your grandfather, is still alive."
"You're aware such claims would have your head."
A wince.
"Fine." Damian scoffs. "We will go back to that after, tell me of the name triggering then."
"Names have power, but family names are more powerful, especially those of dark houses. If another dark house calls—"
"It registers as a warning and summoning." He finished, unfazed at the owlish blinks received.
"You were taught."
"I was, you're right, the al Ghuls are not magic. I haven't taken it seriously back then, I now see the error of my actions." The boy simply states, arms crossed.
"Calling another house of dark by name and immediately pulling a weapon is a declaration of challenge." Dannt adds after a moment of quiet. "I would rather not fight and make an enemy here."
"Not an enemy, but neither an ally?" Is quickly thrown back.
The Nightingale shrugs. "I'm not fond of your grandfather," he admits. "but it's known that every generation changes the house, I would not mind being the ally of the al Ghuls, if it meant you did the contract."
"Being an ally to my name only and to the al Ghul if asked." Green eyes, borderline neon, it reminds Danny of the zone. "Bold."
A grin cracks through, and Danny gestures to the door. "We can discuss the terms during snack time, if you wish, al Ghul."
A spark and Damian scowls harder. "Stop that." He says. "Let's do so, Father would be quite pleased knowing I've made more allies."
As he stomps to out, Danny follows with a jump in his steps, very pleased.
Nightingale 1, Constantine 0!
