Mom's who use surrogates can Breast Feed
Harry & Meghan like to drop tidbits about Meg "breastfeeding" and crying, and crying and crying, but her lopsided beach ball belly remained swollen even after 4 months of "breastfeeding" as we saw in South Africa.
Breastfeeding (a baby that grew in the mother's womb) actually burns calories and shrinks the mom's belly. It is a gift to mom's who are able to breast feed because they get to exercise just through the act of nurturing their wee one.
Babies born by surrogate can be "breastfed" "skin to skin" by the adopting mother. It gives her the "skin to skin" experience Harry likes to reference.
The adopting mother will not burn the calories she consumed to appear bloated like her surrogate.
Catherine and Wills traveled to Wales to encourage the runners just 1 month after the birth of baby Prince George.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (aka Kate Middleton) makes her post-baby body debut in a surprise appearance at the Ring O'Fire Anglesey Coastal Ultra Marathon on Friday (August 30) in Holyhead, Wales.
The 31-year-old royal was joined at the event by her husband Prince William, who started the sounding bell to kick off the 135-mile race for the awaiting runners.
The appearance by Kate at the event was not scheduled! She was originally supposed to make her first public appearance with Prince William at the Tusk Trust awards on September 12th. Kate gave birth to the couple's first child, Royal Baby Prince George, back in July.

Okay, Discord buds got my drunken real-time rant about this, but it needs immortalising here for future me's sake.
Years ago, my dad bought a motorcycle trailer.
Or claims he did. I'd argue he bought a bit of scrap metal on wheels. Someone grabbed a fistful of box section and a bit of checkerplate and weld-bolted it all together into the most rickety piece of shit trailer-shaped rack you can possibly imagine.
It creaks if you even look at it. The floor plates don't line up properly; my dad has fallen off this trailer while loading it.
To further highlight the lunacy of keeping this thing, let me add that my dad's bike, the Triumph T160 he and my mum bought new decades ago, has appreciated wildly as a classic and is now worth over £10k. He is loading a £10k motorbike onto a trailer worth £3.50.
I have been ragging on this thing forever. Jim tries to be polite around my parents, but whenever he glimpses this trailer he has to do the turn away/headshake combo and then text me his complaints as 10-20 single-line messages sent over the next half-hour. It's law.
This is my dad revealing another foible of the trailer on the morning of The Event.
Tumblr media
Yesterday, my dad drove from London to Anglesey. On sheer distance alone, this trip's worthy of an exacting check of your vehicle and trailer before you set off, but the tail end of the drive cuts through Eryri, the most mountainous bit of Wales, too. The area is remote and the roads are a little dangerous. You have to be prepared.
My dad, unprepared, sets off at around three. At half eight, I'm at home eating an omelette and having an important conversation with Jim about my mum-derived Clothes Trauma. It's taken a lot of gin to get me to this point. This is the most I've had to drink in months and I'm a little out of control, but it's cool, we needed this talk, I think it's putting my weird behaviour in context in a way that'll help him help me.
And then I get a call.
Jim's theory is that we've swapped roles with our parents. We're the dull ones with our full-time jobs and our eye on money and our strict preplanned schedules. Our parents are aimless and doing roughly whatever tf they want, and occasionally they need us to drop everything and bail them out.
This is an accurate take, the phone call reveals.
My dad's broken down short of Bangor. He's stuck on a high windswept road in the pissing rain without a rain jacket. It's a narrow road without a layby or any accessible hard shoulder; his car is parked in its lane with the hazards on, and everyone else has to detour around him. As this is Wales, the narrowness of the road means nothing: it's still a major trunk road and there are lorries blasting by. He is quite upset. He needs us to come rescue him.
We're on the far side of Eryri, 66 miles/an hour and a half away. I'm too drunk to drive, so Jim's roped in, even though he needs to be up for work at six tomorrow morning. My dad's mobile signal is appalling and he keeps dropping out of calls; I have to explain to him that he should use his phone's phone function instead of calling through WhatsApp before we even get the gist of what's gone wrong.
Which is this:
he left home without a jack
or the right socket to fit his wheelnuts
and a known slow puncture in one of the trailer's tyres.
His slow puncture has become a flat, and his planned method of pumping it up again hasn't worked. Thanks to the impeccable design of the trailer-shaped scrap, he can't get at the spare while he has a motorbike loaded up.
It's the most predictable and avoidable breakdown since that one time I forgot to fit a new split link when changing my motorbike chain and the whole thing poinged off outside Aldi. And at least my issue was memory and not a conscious decision to be an idiot.
Anyway, we set out. Important beats:
We lack the diesel to get there without a stop, which is always interesting in North Wales at night. The fuel station in Betws-y-Coed saves us. Thank you Shell. About halfway through the drive, my dad calls again to say he's found his 17mm socket at last and has successfully crawled under the trailer and retrieved the spare, but can't swap the wheels without a jack.
(Having since sobered up and had a good look at the photos, I wonder how the hell he got under there. The trailer sits incredibly low and he's pulled up against the kerb, so how did he get under there? Lying in the road?)
And so we find him, halfway up a mountain road in the rain and wind and dark.
Tumblr media
The wind's so wild it almost ploughs my door into that stone wall. As we're putting out our emergency triangle and letting the Ranger's rear chevrons do some work, I am drunk but still struck by how dumb this really is. My dad confesses he got too cold at one point and had to shiver himself warm in the car with the engine on and the heated seats going. He is seventy-odd, for context.
With our jack, it takes approximately three minutes to fit the spare.
Tumblr media
He heads off, we head home. The satnav suggests we'll be back by ten past midnight but it's more like twenty-five past.
There's not really a point to this whole rambling post. Carry a jack, obviously. That's not a lesson anyone should have to learn, which has been the running theme of 2023 so far: things go wrong and we learn nothing.
But on less of a down note, things go wrong, we learn nothing, and I get to spend an evening bopping in the car with my long-suffering yet still awesome partner, who, after a lot of gin and a lot of driving, now 100% grasps what my parents are like.
We also got to look very cool and patient and reliable in an emergency. I like it.

The Princess of Wales' Stats - Third Quarter
It's been summer and we've hit the annual low point in the year for Catherine engagements (I have to stop myself from writing Duchess of Cambridge engagements!). In the third three months of 2022, the Princess of Wales has completed 24 engagements, averaging around 8 engagements a month. Her busiest month was September, during which she completed 15 engagements. She undertook 7 engagements in July and 2 in August, where she was also spotted once. In September, Catherine appeared in one official photograph or video, and was spotted five times; September was also, notably, when the death of Queen Elizabeth II occured and some of these "spottings" were fairly major events, such as the Windsor walkabout with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. This means September also coincided with a 17 day period of mourning. While being a quiet August (as always), this was her fourth busiest July and her fourth busiest September of all time.
Of her 24 patronages, she has visited or completed work for 6, totalling 9 engagements in total. In July, Catherine completed six engagements on behalf of her patronages. 3 of those were Wimbledon engagements, meaning they counted as being for both the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club and the Lawn Tennis Association. She also undertook one engagement for The 1851 Trust and two for Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. In August, she undertook one engagements for SportsAid. In September, she completed two engagements on behalf of the Royal Foundation, which was renamed to the Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Of her 24 engagements, 8 have been solo while another 8 were when she was accompanied by her husband, the Duke of Cambridge, now the Prince of Wales. Three engagements took place with wider members of the (then-Cambridge) Wales family - one with her husband and Prince George, and two with her husband and Princess Charlotte. A number of engagements took place with a number of other British Royals in September, during the aftermath of the Queen's death, with the Queen's funeral taking place with members of both the British Royal Family and foreign royals.
Her engagements have all taken place in the UK, in England (21) and Wales (3). Of her UK-based engagements, 13* took place in London, while one was a video meeting. She also undertook engagements in Windsor, Plymouth, Birmingham, Norfolk, Swansea and Anglesey. NOTE: Two of her September engagements were meetings and could have taken place in either London or Windsor. As the Princess of Wales' official residence remains in London, I will be counting these as taking place there until informed otherwise.
Due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the majority of her engagements have been diplomatic in nature, with eight engagements falling in that area specifically. 6 of her engagements have focused on the military and another 6 on sport, while 3 engagements have been focused on her Early Years Initiative. Six of her engagements did not fit into the theme headings I have created.
Clotheswise, her most worn identified designer has been Alexander McQueen, followed by Catherine Walker, although she has worn two unidentifed looks. Her most carried bag designer was Mulberry, followed by Grace Han, then Stuart Weitzman. Her most-worn shoe designer is, again, Gianvito Rossi. In terms of jewellery, she has predominantly worn pieces borrowed from the late Queen, as well as pieces inherited from Diana, followed by Kiki McDonough with 5 wears, and Annoushka with 4. When it comes to hats, Catherine was seen in five hats, with both Henri Lloyd creating 2 of them. One of her hats is still currently unidentified.

5 Traits Of Pathological Demand Avoidance YOU MISS! Here are 5 MUST SEE traits of Pathological Demand Avoidance! ⚠️ This condition is an atypical autism condition that is sometimes co-occurring with an autism diagnosis but can be independent. Here are 5 traits that you must see. 👀 1️⃣ Lability Of Mood. A person with PDA will have mood control issues and can be shown to change their mood moment to moment. 2️⃣ Comfortable in role play or pretend play. Because of the use of masking in social situations a person with PDA will be very comfortable in playing games of acting and pretended role play. 3️⃣ My have hyper moments and cry a lot. Due to mood and emotional control issues, a person of PDA may have hyper-active moments and similarly have moments of upset and crying. 4️⃣ May have selective mutism. A PDA person can sometimes display selective mutism in situations of social events or social environments. 5️⃣ Triggers may be hard to pin down. You may notice that a person with PDA can get triggered at random times, but you are not able to notice what the triggers are. A New Year’s Eve Wedding in Henblas Country Park, Bodorgan, Wales
After a year of meticulous planning, our Welsh couple finally tied the knot on New Year’s Eve 2023. This event marked our last wedding of 2023 and the first of 2024, filling us with immense excitement and joy.
http://www.thesnapshotcafe.com/
Despite the windy and rainy weather, fortune favoured us as the rain paused just in time for the outdoor activities. Upon our arrival, we were warmly greeted by the bride’s parents, their smiles setting a positive tone for the day. We began with capturing the bride and groom’s preparation shots, preserving those intimate pre-ceremony moments.
From there, we headed to Henblas Country Park, a hidden gem and perfect wedding venue in Wales. This purpose-built venue boasts guest rooms for the wedding party to stay overnight, adding convenience to its charm. The dedicated team of wedding planners had meticulously arranged the decorations, catering, and the event’s rundown. We were thoroughly impressed by the structure, layout, and facilities, all of which contributed to creating a memorable experience.
The climax of the evening was the fireworks display, perfectly timed with the countdown to 2024. As the clock struck midnight, the sky lit up with dazzling colors, marking both the start of the new year and the couple’s new journey together. It was a spectacular sight, and the perfect way to end the night on a high note.
Are you planning a new year’s eve wedding? Contact us, we are happy to capture the fun and unforgettable day!

Sacred Sites & Rituals in the Ancient Celtic Religion by Mark Cartwright
From the text: Sacred Sites & Rituals in the Ancient Celtic Religion by Mark Cartwright…
Chapter: Natural Sacred Sites
The Celts believed certain natural sites had spiritual importance; these sites included hills and mountain tops, impressive trees, and bodies of water such as springs, rivers, lakes, and bogs. Especially sacred were those points where movements of waters joined like estuaries and river confluences.
Such sites were considered meeting places between the physical and supernatural worlds as water was a conduit to the Otherworld.
The sources of major rivers were particularly attractive to the Celts and sanctuaries are attested at the sources of the Marne and Seine Rivers. Nearly 200 wooden sculptures were discovered at the latter sanctuary, known as Sequana (also the Celtic name for the Seine), located northwest of Dijon. The high number of precious artefacts recovered from the River Thames over the last few decades indicate that this, too, was a major destination for votive offerings deposited by British Celts. A votive offering or votive deposit is one or more objects displayed or deposited, without the intention of recovery or use, in a sacred place for religious purposes. Such items are a feature of modern and ancient societies and are generally made to gain favor with supernatural forces.
Archaeology has shown that the ancient Celts would make offerings to their pagan gods by sacrificing valuable metal items to bodies of water entire hoards of votive offerings have been excavated from rivers, including swords, torques, shields, and other items fashioned from metals like silver or bronze or even gold.
Tumblr media
A group of 16 artefacts – found on Anglesey and all dating to the Iron Age and Roman period – were recently declared Treasure in Wales. They were found by Ian Porter in March 2020 while metal-detecting in a field under pasture in Llanfair-Mathafarn-Eithaf Community.
From the text: A spring filled with votive offerings?- Llanfair-Mathafarn-Eithaf Community, Anglesey...
It is not believed that these objects represent a coherent hoard – rather, as their findspot lies next to where a spring emerges in a boggy area of the modern field, it is thought that they may have been placed there as repeated religious offerings. The artefacts include Iron Age chariot fittings as well as Roman cavalry fittings, and all date to between AD 50 and AD 120, around the time of, or soon after, the Roman invasion of Anglesey in AD 60/61. Among the items are three bridle-bits, a terret (or rein-guide), a set of four harness discs known as phalerae, and a ram’s-head fitting, probably from a vehicle or staff, which is decorated in the late Celtic art-style. Also discovered was a large Roman copper ingot, weighing an impressive 20.5kg, which is thought to derive from copper mined at nearby Mynydd Parys; a decorated brooch; four coins (the latest of which dates to AD 364-378); and a lead pot repair.
In Celtic Wales, there certainly existed variations in religious practices across both time and space but there are notable points of commonality across Iron Age Europe.
The religious leaders in Celtic communities were the druids. Known for their great wisdom and knowledge of traditions, druids managed religious rituals, interpreted events of nature, divined the future, and made medicinal potions. Druids were repositories of the community's history and may also have been required to cast taboos (or, less accurately, spells) on people, ensuring compliance to the society's rules. Druids thus had the power to exclude individuals from religious rituals.
Individual trees were held as sacred by local communities and tribal gatherings were often held under their shade. A nemeton or sacred grove of trees was also the site of certain rituals. At what must have once been such sacred areas, votive plaques have been found dating to the Gallo-Roman period. Inscriptions on these plaques reveal they were dedicated to gods of specific types of trees like Fagus (beech), Robur (oak), and several others who have not yet been identified.

St Dynwen’s Day/ Burns Night
Tumblr media
A Piper Piping in the Haggis at a Burns Night Supper. Source: Visit Scotland website
Today is St Dynwen’s Day. Dynwen, despite being celibate, became Wales’ patron saint of lovers. Apparently visiting her shrine at Llanddwyn Island on Anglesey is a must for all couples who want their love to proper.
Tonight is also Burns Night, on which the life and works of poet Robert Burns are celebrated all over Scotland today, his birthday. The first Burns Night was held in 1801, but at that stage it was a private gathering of the poet’s friends, wishing to celebrate Burns’ contribution to Scottish literature. By the 1860s, the day had become a Scottish cultural event with Burns’ Nights involving traditional the enjoyment of Scottish fare, pipers, traditional dancing and much whisky. Burns himself was a romantic influenced by the Classics, but also by Scottish rural life and Celtic myth and ghost stories. His songs and poems were often written and recited in the Scots dialect. Long before the advent of the SNP, Burns Nights provided the opportunity for expressions of Scottish cultural pride and nationalist sentiment.

Lake Semerwater. Source: Herriot Country website
On this day in rural North Yorkshire, St Paul manifested (today is also the feast day of his conversion) and went door to door in a nearby magnificent city, begging for alms, to see how Christian the Yorkshire folk were. Suffice it to say, they weren’t very, and poor Paul was sent packing from every house he visited, save one, a Quaker dwelling on the outskirts of the city. The good Quakers gave the saint room and board and overnight heard him calling on Simmerwater to rise, Simmerwater to sink. The next day the family found their guest was gone and so was the city, replaced by a huge lake - Lake Semerwater. When the weather is calm, the walls and roofs of the submerged town can be seen from the lakeside. Or so they say…

oudica or Boudicca (/ˈbuːdɪkə, boʊˈdɪkə/, from Brythonic *boudi victory, win + *-ka having suffix, i.e. 'Victorious Woman', known in Latin chronicles as Boadicea or Boudicea, and in Welsh as Buddug (Welsh pronunciation: [bɨðɨɡ])), was a queen of the ancient British Iceni tribe, who led a failed uprising against the conquering forces of the Roman Empire in AD 60 or 61. She is considered a British national heroine and a symbol of the struggle for justice and independence.

Boudica's husband Prasutagus, with whom she had two daughters, ruled as a nominally independent ally of Rome. He left his kingdom jointly to his daughters and to the Roman emperor in his will. When he died, his will was ignored, and the kingdom was annexed and his property taken. According to the Roman historian Tacitus, Boudica was flogged and her daughters raped. The historian Cassius Dio wrote that previous imperial donations to influential Britons were confiscated and the Roman financier and philosopher Seneca called in the loans he had forced on the reluctant Britons.
In 60/61, Boudica led the Iceni and other British tribes in revolt. They destroyed Camulodunum (modern Colchester), earlier the capital of the Trinovantes, but at that time a colonia for discharged Roman soldiers. Upon hearing of the revolt, the Roman governor Gaius Suetonius Paulinus hurried from the island of Mona (modern Anglesey) to Londinium, the 20-year-old commercial settlement that was the rebels' next target. Unable to defend the settlement, he evacuated and abandoned it. Boudica's army defeated a detachment of the Legio IX Hispana, and burnt both Londinium and Verulamium. In all, an estimated 70,000–80,000 Romans and Britons were killed by Boudica's followers. Suetonius, meanwhile, regrouped his forces, possibly in the West Midlands, and despite being heavily outnumbered, he decisively defeated the Britons. Boudica died, by suicide or illness, shortly afterwards. The crisis of 60/61 caused Nero to consider withdrawing all his imperial forces from Britain, but Suetonius's victory over Boudica confirmed Roman control of the province.
Interest in these events was revived in the English Renaissance and led to Boudica's fame in the Victorian era and as a cultural symbol in Britain.

Kate Middleton wants to show her three children where she and Prince William began their married life together.
The Prince and Princess of Wales stepped out to honour the Welsh Guards on St. David's Day, a national day of celebration for the U.K. nation. The couple took part in the tradition of handing out symbolic leeks to the officers and guardsmen of the regiment — and Kate reminisced about living in North Wales as a newlywed while Prince William trained to become a helicopter pilot with the Royal Air Force's Search and Rescue Force and worked as an air, sea rescue pilot for the RAF.
Krystal Cunningham, who attended Wednesday's event and shares Kate's love for the island of Anglesey, tells PEOPLE that Kate "said she missed it" — and wanted to bring Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4, for a visit.
Krystal adds, "She's hoping to take her children there and show them the beautiful beaches."
After Prince William, 40, and Princess Kate, 41, wed in April 2011, Wales was the setting for their life as newlyweds. It was also where the couple spent their first months as parents — they welcomed Prince George in July 2013.
Prince George and Princess Charlotte visited the Welsh capital of Cardiff in June, accompanying Prince William and Kate during Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Krystal — who was at the parade to watch her husband, Warrant Officer Class 2 Ash Cunningham, along with their daughter Elsi, 7 — also witnessed when Kate to a standing backflip from 9-year-old Thomas Lucas.
"My heart sank a little when it happened — but that's Thomas all over," Krystal says. She explains that Thomas, the son of a Welsh Guard on parade, does Parkour, where athletes cross terrain, buildings and other obstacles with high agility.
Kate asked if little Elsi was learning the Welsh national anthem, as her parents were teaching her the language before they return to live there. They impressed the Cunninghams that the Prince and Princess of Wales knew the words, singing the anthem heartily when the band played towards the end of the parade.
"He was getting it right," Krystal adds of Prince William, who sported the Welsh Guards' grey Home Service Clothing (Winter Order) uniform.
In a quick speech, the Prince of Wales said he was "honoured and delighted" to be their new colonel, taking over the role of his father, King Charles III.
"I'm sorry that my father couldn't be here with us here today to say farewell, but I know he would talk of his fierce pride and admiration for you all, and of his own sadness to be moving on from an appointment he held so dear since 1975," William said.
Krystal says, "It was nice how the Prince mentioned his father's name and his association with the regiment — and now he's assumed the role [of colonel] too, as he's become Prince of Wales."
The event, at Combermere Barracks in Windsor, was part of a busy Wales-themed week for the royal couple. On Tuesday, Prince William and Princess Kate spent the day in the country, which followed a visit to Cardiff on Saturday to watch Wales play rivals England in rugby.
