I feel like the androgynous vibes are really there #and he looks like his brother the most in it #but the others are fun too. I loved doing the portrait. I should do them more often #and.. I will admit. I traced the lemur. I can barely draw people okay how do you expect me to draw animals #but I just think that Aiza would really love a little lemur friend #animals don’t judge and she doesn’t have to watch herself around them. she can just be. plus the lemurs are really cute <3 #I want to eventually do a companion to this with Aiza instead. maybe from back before she ran away #probably something based on reflection from Mulan too bc the vibes are there. though.. to be completely honest #I’d say they have a lot more of Shurochka Azarova’s vibes than Mulan. but that’s just my love for Soviet cinema taking over #it’s essentially if mulan fought napoleon instead. and when discovered instead of left to die they promoted her to lieutenant 😁#I realise the comparison is completely incomprehensible to everyone but me but.. go watch the hussar ballad. it’s free on YouTube with subs #okay enough rambling. i shall now go to bed. @ Kat I hope this brightens up your morning at least somewhat. Damn. I might just have to redact every nice thing I ever said about Netflix atla.

Because I’m rewatching the original series, and the first episode is tighter and does more to establish key concepts, characters, and relationships than the entirety of the live action show. 😭

Febuwhump Day 7: Suffering in Silence

Notes: This is my first time writing rottmnt, with a healthy dose of projection. It fits the prompt, so have some angst.

Was it possible to be a third wheel in a group of four people? Donnie wondered. He supposed he couldn’t be the fourth wheel, because that would mean that everything was perfectly functional.

Which… he wasn’t sure if it was.

He spent much of his time alone in his lab, building invention after invention in an attempt to make his and their lives easier. They appreciated his abilities, microdosing him on the approval that he sought out so desperately.

The rest of his time not spent asleep was occupied by hanging out with his brothers. Their entire lives spent only with each other and Splinter (and, eventually, with April), they had their qualms but were, overall, quite the tight-knit family.

And yet, and yet.

Some days, Donnie still felt like an outcast among his own brothers. For all that he kept his own secrets in his lab, he felt like they were hiding more from him. He would walk into a conversation only to be met with shushing between the other three and a topic change like nothing had happened.

They hinted that he had asked to be excluded, but try as he might, he couldn’t recall a single instance of this happening.

He would be talking about nothing and everything with Raph or Leo or Mikey, and they would offhandedly mention something that he had never had privy to. An inside joke that they assumed he already knew. Something he had to pretend to be an expert on while hiding how hurt he was that sometimes he was seemingly just forgotten.

One of his brothers would give the impression that Donnie had been spending enough quality time with them, then let it slip that he had missed out on hours of talking, gaming, bonding… because what, they assumed that he didn’t enjoy their company?

Or was it the opposite?

He acted like nothing was wrong. He smiled at jokes he didn’t have a hint of context to. He made an effort to talk to them individually, because he knew that he would be spoken over as soon as another walked in. He pretended that he wasn’t bothered by the fact that he didn’t seem to be anybody’s favorite. For every brother he spoke to, they would mention another more than if they were actually there.

It wasn’t like he could talk to anybody about it. Sooner rather than later, the word would spread throughout the lair and then Donnie would have to deal with more emotions.

Instead, he turned his music up, ducked his head into his shell, and told himself that he did not feel horribly alone.

I love that he brought back “the mysterious recipe for Tarte tatin” when it is essentially “fuck up some apples in sugar and butter and slap pastry on top” but I guess if you don’t know how to...fuck up some apples in sugar and butter and make some pastry to slap on top, you don’t know. im trying this thing where i hide my phone when i work and its insane im actually getting things done

#i mean i set timers on my watch so its like 7 min work 1 minute check phone #then after 3 rounds of this i get 5 minutes of free time #and i also keep the phone out of my line of sight so im not habitually touching it #and its nuts my phone battery would normally be dying by 9:15 but like without charging it my phone was still around 35% at 12:30 #and i got so much work done today......#i feel like this only works tho bc i have a smartwatch #like i know we all like to clown on apple products but like #getting the airpods and a watch has been amazing for me because #when i can control my music and set my pomodoro timers #and see incoming texts without ever touching my phone then i tend to be able to avoid getting sucked into my phone lol #like ill see a text on my watch and ill be like yea im not picking up my phone rn because the minor effort of taking it out of my bag #reminds me that im supposed to be working rn #but im also not typing out a reply to this on my tiny watch #but i can also see if its a text that needs a response right away (i.e. is it my boss texting me or my friend playing 8 ball)#i hope i manage to keep this productivity up tho #cactus.txt
