Hello! I'm trying to find a fic about Stiles. I remember he was learning about programming/hacking and Danny helped him at some point. Eventually Stiles gets on the dark web and makes a few friends there who he contacts for help with information on magical creatures to help the pack. Stiles is magical, maybe a spark but I can't remember, and he has a bunch of magical books and he's training to have stronger magic. I think some of the books were originally his moms? HOW I WOULD REWRITE THE TEEN WOLF MOVIE

First of all its a slice of life comedy 

No villain just normal problems, but maybe background Monroe issues

Each character has a running gag or a funny arc 

Scott:

Runs his own veterinary business but accidentally placed his building in a place with primary cat people. He can not treat cats because they go crazy around him (he tells the humans he's allergic to cats). So the whole movie is him talking to real estate agents about buying a new building and selling his current one. The process is painfully slow. (but the new place is in beacon hills were this all takes place)

Kira: 

Is still not in the movie but a bit after 6b she came back from the skinwalkers and she and scott get married. During the movie she's actually having a girls weekend with the skinwalkers because they became good friends 

Lydia:

She and Stiles have twins (like 10 years old or something) and a newborn baby. Stiles convinces Lydia to take a break cause she's so stressed and to go visit their friends (so thats why shes in bh) during the movie she'll be having a conversation interrupts by taking a phone call. Its the twins' school. She is the leader of the PTA. This happens multiple times throughout the movie. (minor detail of her being super successful, getting that feilds medal, and being like the second Stephen Hawkins basically)

Stiles: 

Is at home taking care of the newborn, we cant hear his voice but Lydia talks to him on the phone.

Jackson:

Is just constantly hanging out with lydia the entire movie, her sidekick, her goon

Malia: 

Life way more put together than in the real movie. She works as like a camp ranger nature person or whatever, has weekly dinner with Mr. Tate, and is overall living her best life. Shes currently single but like every guy her age in beacon hills is trying to get with her. Shes also internet famous. She has simps. She lives in beacon hills but has traveled to a few different countries, including france

Is no longer a cop because he found his true calling in modeling 

Sheriff:

Retired and tired. Lydia is staying with him during her visit. He's just really happy about being a grandfather

Same basically, a cool dad, so similar to tyler heclens (idk sp) portrayal of clark kent that a joke about that is made

The scene where he talks to coach is there so that coach can not recognize him and then derek is like "oh sorry, how about now?" (he walked into the corner of the room, clenched his fists at his side, and started glaring like he was about to kill someone) and coach is like omg yeah i remember you, hows it been? 

Also he is married to braeden and she is elis step mom

ALSO he has 11 kids including eli, he is tom baker cheaper by the dozen.

Eli: 

Stiles' biggest fan, just like that one post✊ (i saw a post about that being why hes like stiles and it annoying derek and its one of the funniest things ever, i dont remeber the poster sorry) calls all of the original pack uncle or aunt. He and Malia besties. His arc is he has a boyfriend or girlfriend and is trying desperately for no one to find out because they all babysitted him and are notorious for telling embarassing baby stories to his friends and previous partners. He's the oldest sibling.

Chris:

Literally just chilling, planning a tropical vacation, is married to Melissa 

Melissa:

Still works at hospital, overly mushy with chris, especially in front of peter 

Peter: 

Same as usual but 10x more dramatic. Lives on Melissa's coach. Theres a few random times in the movie hes being interviewed like hes in the office. He's the only one that this happens with.

Issac:

Only speaks in french, but there are subtitles for the audience. Only speaks English to Chris even though Chris knows french. Malia and him are friends from when she visited france.

Liam:

Professional lacrosse player, is in the lacrosse nfl (i have no idea if thats a thing) hangs out with mason and on his off time he leads an anger management class

Mason: 

Politician, the only thing stopping him from being president is his age. Corey uses his powers to steal incriminating evidence against masons evil political opponents. They are married. 

Theo:

He's a trailer life vlogger, very successful online. Regularly hits up scott and liam for no particular reason (its because hes lonely) its never mentioned but there's a brief shot of his trailer and on one of the walls there's a picture of the pack with a picture of theo tapped to it. And/or just a picture of stiles* Bonus points for hearts. 

He goes to liams class as a demonstration on how not to beat someone up when you're angry (liam and theo usually end up fighting anyway)

Allison: 

Either not in it or inexplicably alive. No mention as of how or why or when she came back. At one point there is a very clear reference to her death so the audience knows it wasn't reconned or something 

OR ( my sister's idea) Chris Ouija boards her every friday night and they chat

Deaton: 

Just doing completely unrelated shady shit, which all ends up being something super anti-climatic

4-Sided Dive Highlights - Critical Role C3 up to E35 (Oct. 4, 2022)

Good evening, spooks and ghouls! It's a Halloween edition of 4-Frighted-Dive, and Matthew, Marisha, Laura, and most excellently Travis bring us into the season in the very dramatic costumes promised by the cast last episode. Travis wins host for the first time and his plastic fangs make him almost entirely unintelligible. There's an enormous coffin set up at the front of the heavily decorated Halloween set, and while pondering whether we should celebrate Halloween without her, we all ask What Would Laudna Do? Pate arrives at the set door with a delivery: a letter read by Travis in a cockney accent telling them to go on and do the show.

What the Fuck Is Up With That? The Otohan fight was complicated by unexpectedly struggling with the gate/crawler and accidentally getting Otohan's attention. When Laudna went spiderclimbing up the wall, she was not at all anticipating finding Otohan right on the balcony at the top. They all agree the darkness was clutch. I'm so distracted by how Matt's head barely pokes out of his robot box.

The attacking force was not actually intended to break into the fort, just to be a distraction.

If BH had managed to escape more quickly & cleanly, it wouldn't have been a fight at all. (There would have been a bounty on the unknown perpetrators, though.) The slow and cumbersome exit, the getting of her attention, and the leap to combat all triggered her deciding to directly intervene.

Matt thinks the infiltration on the first half was done really well. Getting Treshi was very smooth and the crates were a great idea.

Everyone speculates on if they could make a dunamantic fig tree. Matt has no idea what would happen if they tried to graft Possibility into a tree.

Travis says the Secret Word (Tempest) and must draw from the recently reassembled Tower of Inquiry. #41: How do cast members sent out of a scene avoid seeing spoilers on Twitter? They actively avoid social media! Episodes are still pre-taped, so they know when to avoid episodes & remind each other not to watch protected moments from the show. Great question!

Travis thinks Otohan knows who Imogen's mom is. Laura has deliberately not tried to cast Sending on her mom. Everyone does think she is alive; that Imogen has a memory of her being alive when she was about a year old & other people saw her twelve years ago when she'd originally been told she died in childbirth--surely she must still be around. Everyone wonders how Imogen's explosion managed to spare her friends yet destroy buildings. Did they go to the moon briefly? Matt descends turtle-like into his robot shell to avoid answering.

Marisha watched the last episode by herself. ;-; It was very weird.

Everyone peppers Matt with questions about the moon. "Answer, Robot!" Matt: "I'm thirsty." Marisha VERY clumsily tips a water bottle to his mouth and just about waterboards him. Her raptor hand gloves are too big, oh no!

When Orym, Laudna, Chetney, and Fearne all went down, everyone was convinced that was it--total party TPK. Travis is always looking at Matt's fidget energy when stuff goes down, trying to read his face for lifelines and hints, and he noted that Matt was unusually stoic and calm. Matt knew Otohan was powerful and important; he needed to honor that. When he built the encounter, he did build in escape routes, including the idea of a hostage held to draw the others back. The group did a huge chunk of damage to her and a lot of her resources were tapped by the end of the fight; she did have a damage threshold where she'd leave, and they were close to that. They all wanted to run but couldn't get away. The moment she did the 80-foot jump really scared them all. The fight reminded Travis of the Chroma Conclave attack in C1 where a 19 missed and took their breath away.

Laura says it scarily reminded them so much of Molly in C2--the villain was way beyond their means and the smart move was to get away. They just couldn't execute it cleanly. Matt suggests the conversation could have continued, but the party choices were too scattered: run, hide, fight, talk.

Otohan was more interested in information rather than murder at the start, but when she recognized Imogen & realized her personal connection to the party, she wanted to push Imogen instead & was willing to be ruthless in the process.

Travis loved the brush with total hopelessness. For as large as their party is, it's very rare to do the "advanced chess" and see no way out. They don't get to experience that risk of TPK often.

Matt has to constantly adjust encounters to keep them from becoming a slog while still making them hard. He thinks the party is really smart & have found ways to decimate encounters he'd thought would be hard in the past, and he knows this party likes the challenge and the risk of real danger, so he built this to be very challenging. Marisha says everyone at the table was completely okay with the way everything went down at the table. This is still a safe space for them as players and they are okay with the possibility of loss.

They all had a stairstep of expected outcomes in the following episode, starting with Laudna's die roll. Travis looked over to see the natural 1 and literally couldn't believe it. She has so many ways to get back up, but the Ruidus die refused to cooperate. Travis lauds Matt for the choice of Otohan striking an unconscious Laudna rather than moving on; it was realistic and terrifying.

They had planned for the possibility of everyone getting back up: Laudna rolling well, FCG bringing back Fearne to bring back Orym. Then Laudna rolled a 1 and FCG barely scraped the DC for Fearne coming back, and everything got a lot dicier.

The trouble with the death spiral is that when people start going down, people have to spend their turns bringing back other people rather than attacking. With this many healers & revivifiers in the party, Matt has to really push threat to make encounters hard.

Marisha had a bad feeling the entire break between the episodes. She did not think Laudna was going to make it out. She whispered to Travis at one point that they should rez Orym. The moment Ashley flipped the Changebringer coin and told Laudna they'd find a way to bring her back, it was like a punch in the gut and fatalistically accepting at the same time.

Laura, on the other hand, had convinced herself Marisha would roll her way out of it, so her failing was totally devastating. She was convinced they'd be able to persuade Delilah to heal Laudna through the rock. Matt acknowledges that they didn't expect Delilah to be so powerless.

Travis thinks Delilah was trying to take over Laudna's body, which is what Gentle Repose interrupted. Matt refuses to answer.

If resurrection magic were readily available, death would be meaningless. Matt relegates it to powerful casters, heroes, and noble classes that can afford it.

Everyone agrees it must have been so painful for Orym to ask Keyleth to heal Laudna when he knows she couldn't save his husband. Matt reminds us she tried to rez Will but couldn't.

Marisha keeps imagining VM burying Delilah in an iron box & throwing it in the ocean, just for BH to somehow recover it and open it right back up.

Matt knew with this campaign's characters' histories that there was a higher risk of crossing over with VM, and he was nervous about doing it justice while still avoiding the Essek free-taxi situation. More than that, he NEVER expected Keyleth to show up as a means of taking the whole party to Whitestone. Matt tells us Pike is likely in Whitestone too, possibly Grog. Marisha is so excited to see Matt talk to himself as all their old characters for an hour. Matt is STOKED to be able to revisit old PCs down the line--he's always wanted to explore this idea but has never had groups persist long enough in the same world.

Everyone got incredibly emotional seeing Keyleth & Whitestone.

Favorite scary movies? Laura: The Descent (we just watched this in movie night!). Marisha: Amityville Horror. Matt: Hereditary or the original Poltergeist. Travis: The Exorcist & The Thing, which he watched in increments because they were too scary to watch all at once. He also hilariously apparently bailed out of a theater during Jurassic Park & Neverending Story, haha! A concession stand worker gave him pity Reese's Pieces, bless his heart. Laura bailed once out of her grandma trying to show her Poltergeist when she was like six. Matt bailed out of the Ghostbusters. Marisha has never left a theater. Me either, Marisha! I paid for this ticket, I'm seeing the show.

Tower of Inquiry, Redux: minor character superpowers. Imogen never has to change a lightbulb. Chetney has super strong fingernails and doesn't need tools. Laudna wilts flowers when she walks by and would probably be a good crash test dummy. Eshteross always bakes the perfect cookies. Marisha is directed to pull from the tower with her enormous raptor gloves, which she does with tremendous aplomb. Who in TV and film would complement your character well? Chetney + Bilbo Baggins. Laudna + John Constantine (Matt suggests Elvira). Imogen + Jean Grey/Scarlet Witch.

Deep Dive! Matt can't reach his tumbler with both hands and it's honestly just sending me. He's loved introducing C2 elements into this campaign; he's been thinking about threads from the start of C2 and even into C1 that he's now able to bring into the world.

Marisha: What is it like to see Keyleth back without being at the table? It's like going into a fugue state. She thought Matt did a great job mimicking her more staccato mannerisms. "It was cute. It was good! Now do Vex." Matt descends again into his box.

Travis didn't recognize either name Matt dropped during the white out: Diana & Frenella Deanna and Frudell, I guessed VERY wrong on those names, sorry! He's going to see if he can meditate and ring a bell. Imogen might deep dive into him herself if he wants.

Laura struggled with the gnarlrock situation & Laudna. She would have kept the rock on her if they hadn't needed to move the body. She was going to leave it at Joe's then didn't; she was going to throw it off the airship then didn't. The draw of power the first rock gave her is such a background thought now with everything else.

Matt has the same conversation with every player about what happens when a character dies. His purpose is to have the players enjoying the game, and if a character dies prematurely, he is willing to open avenues for the party to pursue to bring them back. He also offers the chance to make a completely new character, a new character with strong ties to the old to continue the story, etc.

"With Taliesin, I asked him that question, and he said, 'No, Molly's not coming back. I intentionally made Molly as a character that if he died, he's not coming back, he's gone.' [...]He said, 'No, I'm going to start working on my new character,' and that's where Caduceus came from. And that's an example of character death being a very harrowing but important shift in story tone and character bonding & intense buy-in into a narrative. When Matt asked the current three what they wanted right after the Otohan fight, Ashley & Liam both started talking to him about their next characters (Liam sent a whole email of his secondary character right away), but Marisha didn't. Marisha wants to pursue Laudna's story but isn't necessarily invested in her coming back exactly the same. She's interested in what Pandora's box they're about to open in Whitestone and expects there will be consequences. Matt is excited to give her new character choices.

The art team asked for Marisha's backup to get character art going and she said no. She'll sit out as long as she needs to and will not play another character in the meantime.

Chetney is a sleuth because Travis played an idiot for his first character. He's learned so much from watching the rest of the table play over seven years. The detection of Yu happened because he was watching a spy show where assassins are texted a picture of the target, and he realized while on a treadmill: "Oh!" Calamity wrecked Travis in a beautiful way; he watched everyone else scheming and wanted to be part of that.

Matt laughed that this little trinket Fearne has been carrying for years as part of her backstory was immediately smashed by Ashton.

Imogen does not feel like a superhero; she feels dangerous and guilty. Marisha lauds Laura's roleplaying in the aftermath. Laura suggests that Imogen IS the moon.

Tower of Inquiry, Re-redux! Before the campaign, everyone shared classes & affirmed they didn't want to be as secretive as C2. Marisha & Laura both wanted to be sorcerers, so they paired up. Fearne & Orym were linked from ExU & Ashton & FCG matched up naturally. Laura's original character had Feywild & hag connections and changed it to not overlap with Fearne. Travis originally had someone else drafted but wanted to get away from the buttoned-up captaincy of Fjord.

Oh NO, hahahah! Travis goes to pull a block and someone in a black cloak and long claws creeps up on him behind to alarm him. It's hilarious and yet he manages to avoid toppling the tower.

Where did your character's names come from? Chutney is not Chetney; Pock O'Pea is a sound Ronin was making when he first started talking, adorable! Marisha had a long list of possible names for Laudna and liked the reference to laudanum; she wanted something weird and hazy that messes with your head. Travis is still on guard after the scare, poor thing. Laura just likes the name Imogen; she wanted something soft and flowy.

Five Nights at Freddy's in the OCULUS??? They want to kill this man, don't they? He dies immediately on the first night before the announcement even finishes. I will say that Laura's response to going second makes Travis look positively stoic. The editors also keep editing in a picture of Sam flickering in the shadows, and it's hilarious. Marisha accidentally picks the sequel to play and dies on night 2 IMMEDIATELY. Matt picks Dark Rooms, the sequel where you're in a house & have to play Red Light, Green Light with a monster coming towards you down the hall & by far handles the game the best. Travis gives a couple tries to the Vent Repair game and gets three of four lights on before being stymied by Simon Says. Good for him! The episode ends with the crew trick or treating and TPing the set. Adorable.

You got some interesting points on your recent post about Scott not existing in Teen Wolf, but what if Scott was just...not there, at first? He never moved to BH, thus never met the Stilinskis, thus Stiles growing up without his "nerd" friend, thus the TW never happened.

Maybe Scott grew up with his father in SF, completely rewritten his personality from caring, golden hearted person to become his "fanon" personalities, which is just canon Stiles'?

We know Scott dislike his father to a certain degree, because he lives with his mom in the show. What if Melissa was out of the picture earlier? Would Scott be still Scott, even though TW would be drastically changed because of that?

I can say, without a moment's hesitation, that, yes, he would have. You want to know how I know this? Because he did. He did live with his father for an undisclosed amount of time, but clearly long enough that he knew a bus driver more than just as a passing acquaintance.

For those of you who don't remember, in the third episode of season one (Pack Mentality), Scott has a vivid dream of him and Allison on a school bus where he loses control and attacks her. Turns out it wasn't a dream, and instead the victim was Garrison Myers, the bus driver, who Scott recognized from when he lived with his father.

So yes, Scott would have turned out the same if he'd lived with his father, because that actually happened.

I mean, a lot of Scott's compassion and humanity, while accurately accredited to his mother, also seemed to be in direct response to the antipathy and indifference of those around him.

c3e55 thoughts & musings--spoilers ahead

i thought their meeting with the diarchy went really well. successful thievery on fearne’s part, some cool shopping rewards to follow up on, the status of protectors of the diarchy and gratitude for the fact that they chose the power of friendship, and i think the throughline of arc 3. while arc 2 culminated in facing ludinus and the vanguard, this one is going to be finding out exactly what was done and figuring out what prompted it--maybe a focus on facing what’s been released on exandria before turning to the initial threat?

also even though he has a CHA of 10, hasn’t been back to uthodurn in years, and wasn’t part of the parade, chetney really handled a lot of the diarchy interaction. he gave the party cues for how they should address them, shared a good amount of the information, and really took the lead on this interaction. +3 to INT really coming in there. i think this is partially to do with him deciding to hold it together for the sake of the group and partially travis taking the lead on strategy for team bells. he’s the one who started to guide them towards molaesmyr--we know he did spend some time in the savalirwood, so i think that will also come into play in the upcoming arc.

i’m so happy with the character interactions in this episode. the insight checks on body language. frida and deanna’s talk was so good. aeormatons in love!!!! Faithful Care-Giver!!! fcg being the first core bell’s hells member to get their kisses in!!! i definitely think it’s kind of a puppy-love situation; both FRIDA & FCG are finding a point of connection within each other, and FRIDA’s emulating a lot of what we’ve seen from deanna so far in terms of being open with their offer, the cheek kiss, all of that. i’m really hoping that by the time we get to the party reunion, they have a way of staying in contact.

chet and imogen conversation about liliana! really dissecting that and figuring out what could break her from it. he’s been consistent in challenging imogen and asking her to consider the world from other perspectives while also understanding her struggle. very good friend dynamic that i don’t think most people consider first. kind of old uncle energy.

frida saying fcg’s beautiful with the new armor! jaquoby’s so funny. i love him. more options for jaegering automatons maybe? also very self-sacrificing energy from frida that i don’t appreciate.

resurrection magic being off the table is hopefully going to make them careful. it was hard enough before; i think this is because of the targeted strike on the raven queen. the other deities have been leaning away--this is the first example we’ve seen specific of a domain disruption.

the new outfits! they’ve fully gone in on flexing the protectors of the diarchy thing, but when it leads to a great sequence of new outfits, matching corsets, matching jackets, and chetney in a velour tracksuit, i’m just really enjoying it. i can’t wait to see the art that comes out of this. also, the pixar mom comment from aabria had me cackling.

and at the end of the day, fearne still has orym in the back of her mind. i think it’s only been like 3, maybe 4 days since the start of the solstice, and her first thought after all is said & done in uthodurn is to try to contact orym through melora. i think it says a lot about where fearne is situating herself in this altered group dynamic, and how she wants to find the others and know that they’re ok.

all of the late night drunk conversations. fearne saying she’ll make a move if chetney doesn’t. chetney reliving the glory days. the girlies getting into it and listening in on the aeormatons. the entire ‘screwing me’ scene. draw me like one of your aeorian girls. i think they were just really trying to get matt to have a full meltdown.

and then biscuits & gravy with (fearne’s) goat milk. you can’t come back from that.

and the goat selection. lowkey reminded me of when bh were in the gloomed jungles and started picking what their were-forms would be. i’m excited to see what they find out about the savalirwood and molaesmyr, but this episode was just a continuation of a tension release post solstice.

for next time--exploration episode with team bells. they’re heading to the savalirwood and might come across some smaller threats and/or friends along the way. i don’t think we’re going to get to molaesmyr in full in the next episode, but i anticipate fun travel shenanigans and figuring out how they’re going to get the mounts back alive. i don’t think we’re ready for a team hells appearance yet--marisha’s been busy with creator clash, and they may be working with limited guest availability as well. i think we’re probably going to have aabria & christian’s full guest appearance before we get to team hells. it feels crazy that they’ve been with team bells for less than a week in-game, but they really integrated so quickly, which i guess is the point. lots of backstory hooks, lots of potentially juicy character moments, it’s all built into deanna & frida.

knowing that molaesmyr was a former place of residence for ludinus, i have a feeling that team hells is going to be on issylra. close enough to see ruidus on the horizon, far enough that they’ll get into ludinus lore and ashton/hishari background first. i think they might end up in vasselheim, where they can get info on what’s going on with the gods in more detail. also potentially pyrah bc of the ashari connection--maybe they can see if keyleth is ok and have someone transport them via tree.

-Her bat sleeps inside her hat turned upside down.

-Similar to Bloodhound, when she got into the greater world and discovered all the sweets they have she went so fucking hard and probably got sick as a dog and then did it again. No regrets.

-She and her mom made alcohol from whatever agricultural surplus they might have had (they mostly had corn) and used it for medicinal purposes, as far as she knew her mother never drank it. That said, coming to Solace and probably ending up at the Paradise Lounge? Well, she’s young, determined, but a little dumb. In short: She woke up on Mirage’s couch and discovered the blessing that is water, aspirin, and fried potatoes.

-Has argued with Bloodhound about their bird. Well, less argued and more told them their bird is mean and picks on people, and then had Bloodhound responded, “Yes, he is” and then she didn’t really know where to go from there.

-She's focused on getting her mom out of Prison but she is very excited to have people around her. Like she is very friendly with everyone and hits it off with Wattson and Octane immediately and somehow makes friends with Bangalore's grumpy ass.

-Revenant scares the crap out of her and she sometimes finds herself looking over her shoulder outside of the Games on the off chance he might be doing a little stalking.

-There is Sniper Supremacy beef between her and BH and Fuse finds it hilarious.

-She calls Fuse “Dad” as a joke except it’s not completely a joke after a while.

-She doesn’t call Horizon mom, she has a mom, she loves her mom, but she doesn’t stop her from kind of being her mom. Kid’s lonely okay.

-Is not a huge fan of Solace weather. Too hot, too much dust, she’s never had to drink this much water in her life. How do people not just keel over?

-Is quite the chatterbox if given the opportunity, but is also fond of the quiet. She gets along with both Octane and Wattson due to this.

Eli forgets his uncle- a man he always looked up to and is suddenly desperate for a support he has lost- and anchor he depended on.

He is living on the east coast but he hasn’t cut everyone off- he just doesn’t realize no one is texting him back- he had fail safes for this! but, well things had been calm for so long- he would know if something was wrong right… right?

People can fix it however they want post end credits but this is the theory I’m using for why stiles is not only not involved but why everyone is so drifted and out of character. Not that they wouldn’t have drifted apart (I don’t subscribe to the stiles is the glue mentality) or changed in 15 years but not to this degree. Also that boy (stiles) was traumatized and paranoid- he knows we’re his people ended up and keeps realistically up to date with their well being even if he wanted to leave BH behind. He’s not stupid.

Anyway yeah! You have a Chaos entity- instead of contradicting your own lore to make a wolffox instead have its him messing with everyone’s perception of reality and what’s really going on. Make them confused and concerned about what’s REAL. Have those inconsistencies , yes, but have periods to show us the why’s in what’s going on.

Hell make Derek’s death the catalyst for the illusion to start to unrvel or something .

YAYAYAYAYAYAY

Well u got the spiel last night but

Winnie Hess that is a horse but like. She’s a centaur. Lesbian centaur with tired mom energy. Absolutely has some sort of neurodivergence but I can’t decide between any of them. Slight workaholic but also being one of the strongest pitchers in the league will do that to you.

During beta she was really competitive and invested in the game. She worked hard to get to where she was, but didn’t lose sight of the love she had for her teammates. She was trying to be an older sister to Hewitt and some sort of maternal figure to Thirteen, both of which she lost, and then she lost herself and her entire team. I know we joke about “The sim killed the Breath Mints because Winnie was too powerful and needed to be stopped” but that’s literally her mentality. I like to think you can still hear whispers of the fans in the hall, and she heard that joke and went “was I doing too much? Was it even worth it?” And then proceeds to have an existential crisis throughout season 24.

Even now she’s still not over dying during s24 and didn’t use the time in the BH(BH) to reflect and process it. She still feels dead. Sometimes she wakes up cold and stiff. Sometimes she dreams about the hall. She doesn’t like Ohio mostly because she’s back to playing Blaseball and she didn’t want to do that, and she needed somewhere to get those frustrations out. She ends up doting on NaN “everyone has adopted me” NaN and is like “yanno what, maybe I can have a life here. There are people who I care about here. We have time to figure it out.”

And then NaN explodes.

By that point she is done. She is so fucking done. She says “fuck this, fuck it all, fuck the gods, fuck Ohio, fuck Blaseball” because everything she has ever done has been pointless. All the siphons and the parties and the stat boosts and the stars were meaningless. They didn’t save her. They didn’t save her friends and her family. She is so tired of everything and grieving but Play Must Continue. She wants to have some sense of normalcy but Play Must Continue. She’s trying to be something other than the work horse (hah) she was but Play Must Continue.

And the umps must smell lingering power on her, because they just keep staring at her. She is spiteful and vicious and so so tired, so when the Knight comes to her and says don’t you want to seek greatness she stares it dead in the eyes and says I was great once. It did nothing. And when the Bard comes and says don’t you want success, she just laughs, and laughs, and laughs. She laughs until she runs out of breath and then she starts crying. Because that’s all she wanted. And it didn’t mean a thing.

finished ch 1 of the BH story!

ramble about planets/npcs/feelings under the cut

hutta - starting area, so i didn’t expect much, but it was alright. i do kinda feel like i didn’t get enough time working with braden to actually care about his death. i guess they expected you to be motivated through mako’s grief, but i don’t know that it worked that well. they did a good job making tarro blood incredibly unlikable, though, so i at least wanted to get one over on him just for that. 4/10

dromund kaas - surprisingly pretty for the imperial homeworld? though the lighting was kind of dark and hard to see in sometimes. didn’t feel very immersed as a BH, but i think coming here as a sith would be much more intriguing with all the ancient ruins and such. story here was alright, but kinda just wanted to get into actual bounty hunting so i didn’t linger much. absolutely delighted by crysta, though, laughed out loud when i heard her southern ass “bless your heart” voice, best mandalorian mom friend. 6/10

nar shadda - now THIS planet was incredible. coming through the spaceport and seeing the neon skyline stretching out was stunning, and made me stop and go “oh i need reshade for this game right now.” definitely spent the most time here, running through all the little quests i could find, crawling through the underbelly of the city fighting gangs and droids, very cyberpunk and very very fun. i even bought the stronghold as soon as it was offered. the story definitely picked up with the first actual hunt, and i really started to feel vex bonding with mako through learning about her childhood, avenging her slicer friend, helping her start figuring out where she came from, etc. 10/10

balmorra - honestly, nothing to say about the planet. the terrain was interesting and the skybox was nice but besides that, nothing here felt memorable, especially coming off nar shadda. the story was pretty generic, though i was pleased to have called murghir’s little scheme from the start. kinda a shame i had to kill her, i appreciated her acting. definitely felt good to shoot that imperial creep that was perving over her, he felt more like my bounty than the actual bounty. 2/10

tattooine - obligatory sand joke, but really, i was excited to come here, and it was exactly the dustball i imagined it would be. getting to roam the dune sea was super cool, made me wish i had a bantha mount or something more fitting. i was a little disappointed with how short the story there felt, though. chasing tyresius/gault around was fun, and i was delighted when he ended up as the new companion, but i still feel like i barely spent any time there at all. i guess it doesn’t help that the planetary quests are getting dull, it’s just different flavors of “here’s an incompetent imperial officer that is for some reason in charge, now go run errands/fight junk for them” and so on. 7/10

alderaan - contrary to tattooine, the planetary story was at least very involved in the houses, though i didn’t end up finishing that because i wanted to continue the main story. i brought along gault, and vex immediately started making dark side choices because apparently mako is their only moral compass. (that and who doesn’t want to suckerpunch a snobby noble?) gault’s quips are utterly charming and i am honestly distraught that i can’t romance this devil, but oh well. 6/10 would punch the rich again

i switched back to mako for the final wrap-up, and left tarro to die in the brig of the cruiser as it blew up. vex really did want to shoot him by this point, but i think this stung more. now that i’m through the great hunt, i might take them back and finish up the planetary quests i skipped before i move on to ch 2. overall, as my first story arc though, i’m pretty content and excited for more.
