"Y'ever think we'd get here, huh? Seems like its been such a long road and everything, you know? We came a long way..."

His body may ache, there may be a space at his side where a limb should be, but nothing will stop the bright beam on Naruto's face in this moment. Their road has been rockier than most, littered with people tearing them apart for power or selfishness and struggles but they got all the way to the end. He shuffles closer to her, narrowing the space and glancing out over the sprawling village below them, thriving despite all odds, with scaffolds and rebuilding, but still alive.

"You remember what I said? Before the battle... the when this is over line?" A pink blush blooms on his cheeks as he speaks, uncharacteristically shy. It had been bold of him to announce it, the desire to date, even more so in the warzone, but he needed her to know just in case.

“ i just need you to know that you’ve never been ‘nobody’ to me. you’ve never been nothing. ” to naruto!

Blue eyes widen and shine with emotion as a flush blooms across his cheeks. The smile that curls onto his face is smaller than usual, but all the more genuine for it. This isn't Naruto Uzumaki, going to be the next hokage, you better believe he's going to beat you, no, this is just Naruto at his purest, one who is just about realising that there were some people who saw him, who knew him even when he was at his lowest.

"You sure know how to make a guy feel special!" he smiles, wiping at his eye in the hopes he might not start crying. It isn't working. "But y'know you were always special to me too. Right back from before, when we used to play. At the Academy?" Sometimes he wonders if she remembers, he sure does. Those were some of his favourite moments, the brief interval of not being alone before Danzo stopped her coming.

"We just gotta make everyone else see it too. I'm gonna beat you to that, y'know!!"

💞naruto!

He takes Daiten out for ramen. We know how much Naruto loves his ramen, and taking her to his special place is really important to him. He might even eat other food for her sometimes.

He talks about the important stuff, the stuff he usually hides behind his smile. It's okay not to be okay around Daiten and he makes sure she knows that he knows that.

Never leaves without saying goodbye, always greets when he arrives back. Naruto leads a busy life that does not get any easier, so he makes the point of stopping by before he goes on long missions and finding her when he returns. Eventually turns into seeking in the house, or hollering as he enters the door.

Never stops believing in her, even when Daiten joins the Akatsuki. He won't give up, will always believe that this isn't really the path that they can find each other again, that there's not an end here, just a tunnel and they'll find the light on the other side.

Talks about Daiten with all the important people in his life. For someone as chatty and exuberant as Naruto, he needs to talk about his special ones. She ends up being brought up just as much as Iruka and Kakashi and Sasuke and Sakura. Everything comes back to those five (and others). Visiting Kage / Senior staff are subjected to the "this is Daiten and Daiten's great" talk
