Harder Magics: Barriers/Deflection, Complex Construction, Cleaning, Clothing, Light

Barriers/deflection:

Leona says that second-year students should know how to insta-cast barriers.

The only characters who have mentioned casting barriers thus far have been the second- and -third-year students of Malleus, Riddle, Azul, Jamil, Trey and Rook.

Concealment

In his third birthday vignette Vil says that, "Nowadays, of course, (he) could simply conceal (himself) with magic," but back when he first enrolled at NRC his "skills just weren't on that level," so it is possible that concealing oneself is too complex for first-year students.

Complex Construction:

When Idia sees Savanaclaw's Halloween set his first question is if Leona used his magic for it. Leona is well known for being extremely powerful, so this may be insinuating that constructing something of that scale and quality can only be done by a particularly adept mage.

Floyd, Riddle and Stitch build an entire cottage together out of magic (with Stitch's engineering skills) during the Stitch event, impressing Ace, Azul and even Lilia.

Cleaning:

Lilia says that Sebek has yet to learn cleaning magic, so it is possibly a form of magic reserved for older students. Jamil talks about using magic for cleaning in his third birthday interview.

Cater struggles with "autocleaning via implement magic infusion" in a vignette, but his issue seems to be less so with cleaning itself and moreso with "the spell formula structure" of setting up the "auto" part of the spell. Riddle says that, as a 2nd-year student, he has yet to learn it in class.

Clothing:

Crewel modifies the Halloween costumes for the students in Spectral Soiree, saying that "it's quicker to modify something that's already made than whip up a whole new outfit," so creating an outfit from scratch may be more difficult (we see Malleus do so for Lilia).

Cater uses magic to change both his own clothes and clothes for Ace and Deuce (and Grim's ribbon), and Leona mentions a spell for button repair (that he might not have actually used, but it seems that such a thing exists).

Leona also changes his own clothes with magic in a vignette, while Rook changes the prefect's clothes with magic in Book 6.

In Tamashina-Mina Jack's outfit is magically resized to fit Kalim, but in Firelit Sky Jamil explains that he "couldn't just conjure an outfit in (Grim's) size with only a day's notice," so it is possible that outfit resizing is fairly high-level magic.

Light:

Jamil, Riddle and Vil may be the only characters we have seen magically conjure lights.

Really loving the fact that we’ve been talking about the girlies a lot these past couple of weeks hehe, I’m glad you enjoy reading about these. For some reason, headcanons for these two ended up being more cute than spicy, I hope you don’t mind that… but still, there is some spiciness going on~

You’re absolutely right about Kalim and Jamil braiding each others, hair, and here are some thoughts about it (and other things):

Jamil braids Kalim’s hair more often though. She helps Kalim maintain her hair in general: washes it, combs it, braids it every morning and accessorizes it, takes everything down at the evening, combs it again and braids it again before going to sleep. Kalim knows how to do basic things like washing and combing her own hair of course, but it feels good when Jamil does it, so she prefers to leave it to her. She also likes to braid Jamil’s hair, but doesn’t do it often: Jamil doesn’t really like her hair being touched.

They sleep in the same bed more often than the original Kalim and Jamil. Jamil considers this to be one of Kalim’s many whims, but doesn’t mind it too much: it’s easier to ensure that she is safe that way, I guess. The problem is that whenever they sleep together, Kalim doesn’t want to go to sleep and starts talking until she’s so exhausted that she falls asleep mid-sentence with her mouth open. And sometimes instead of falling asleep, she climbs onto Jamil, clings to her, hugs her tightly and kisses her cheek. She is probably even more touchy than boy!Kalim…

Kalim gets excited when Jamil and her get their period at the same time lol Whenever she mentions it, Jamil usually rolls her eyes, because this is a) kind of a dumb thing to get so happy about; b) nothing special because of course they’ll coincide once in like 4-6 months; c) not something that the older daughter of the Asim family should yell about in front of the entire dorm???

They’re pretty comfortable being naked around each other, because they pretty much always wash together. It’s a pretty natural thing for them, but sometimes the atmosphere gets weirdly intimate, especially when Kalim rests her head on Jamil’s lap, rubs her cheek on her thigh, looks at her and says that Jamil is very beautiful and attractive. Yeah right, from that angle she’s certainly very beautiful and attractive 🙄 Also, after saying that and maybe even kissing Jamil’s stomach, she starts fooling around again and playing with water and bubbles, giggling like a Disney princess. Jamil just can’t understand her sometimes. She’s so oblivious and childish, but there is obvious _intent_ behind her actions whenever she rubs Jamil’s body, and it’s not her passionate desire to rub the soap in.

But not everything about these two together is so ambiguous and mysterious: despite being seemingly innocent, Kalim has sexual desires and expresses them. But in a weird way: Jamil would expect Kalim to ask Jamil to pleasure her or something, but instead Kalim either asks Jamil to undress in front of her and sit on her lap like that (in a reverse cowgirl position), or simply asks Jamil to lie down in her bed so Kalim could undress her herself. ...is somehow even more lethargic as a child than as a teenager.

Seriously, this boy seems to sleep even more than an infant. According to Lilia, you need to make sure Silver gets 8 hours of sleep, plus two naps, to keep his energy up or else he might fall asleep in his food!

He can’t seem to pay attention to anything! Silver’s always staring off into the distance, his head in the clouds. You need to call him a few times or wave a hand in front of his face to get his attention.

A big fan of playing pretend! Silver spends hours crafting elaborate fantasy realms and making towns out of building blocks.

If he’s feeling particularly energetic, he’ll pick up a stick and wave it around, pretending that it is a sword, and he’s defending his sovereign, Malleus-sama! Sebek has to applaus little Silver for his dedication.

He’s kind of a loner when it comes to playing with other kids his age! Silver sits on the swings by himself, or he’ll fall asleep in the shade of a tree. Wild animals seem to like him, though! They gather around in a circle and nuzzle against him.

Bath times are fun! Silver loves to hide among the bubbles and pretend that he’s in a completely different world.

He loves hearing bed time stories about brave knights going off on grand adventures. It doesn’t take long to knock him out to sleep, but Silver tries his darnedest to stay up as long as he can to hear the ending of happily ever after.

Trey Clover...

...is still pretty mature as a little kid!

He steps in and stops Riddle from getting too upset with Ace and Deuce (mostly Ace)! It’s a bit jarring to see a child scolding Heartslabyul’s dorm leader, but Riddle just can’t say no to his friend’s puppy dog eyes!

Trey’s kind of a doormat around other kids, though! He can’t assert himself well around unfamiliar faces and tends to let them walk all over him annd order him around.

He still wants to help out as much as he can for Unbirthday parties--he’s vice-dorm leader, after all, and it would not do to shirk his work! Because Trey is so small now, you’ll need to do a lot of the heavy lifting.

Little Trey offers to help out in the kitchen! You don’t trust him with knives or heat, so you give him simple tasks to do, like crushing cookies in a plastic bag with a rolling pin. He’s so proud to be contributing to the meal~

Trey has an insane sweet tooth. He eats his vegetables too, of course, but he seems to inhale sweets like nobody’s business and always comes back for more.

Brushes his teeth super well (he does it after every meal or snack)~ Trey confides in you that he has always wanted to meet the Tooth Fairy--maybe if he takes extra good care of his baby teeth, she’ll pay him a visit, even if none of his teeth fall out.

Rather than reading him a bedtime story, read him a recipe to help him fall asleep!

Jamil Viper...

...is such a precocious child.

For a little kid, he sure is smart--look, he can sing the alphabet backwards and recite his times table. And if you thought he was ruthless with his burns when he was a teenager, his tongue is even sharper as a kid. Jamil won’t hesitate to call you a doo-doo head or a stupidface if you screw up in front of him.

Pretends to be sultan during play time (Kalim pitches in, playing the role of a servant). At other times, you catch Jamil practicing his swing with a plastic golf club, or Kalim hoisting little Jamil onto the back of a camel or elephant!

He’s quite independent and self-sufficient, often refusing help from others  and insisting he can get tasks done by himself (even it it initially seems impossible). Jamil would rather spend hours finding a stepladder to reach a book than ask someone taller to grab it for him.

He pouts and whines for praise like you wouldn’t believe! Jamil wants your attention to be focused on him, and he’ll tug and pull on your sleeve or shirt until you acknowledge him!

Hates it when you mess up his hair! He spends a long time brushing it in the mornings and washing it in the evenings, even if his braids and ponytail aren’t as pristine as usual. Don’t you dare ruffle his hair and ruin it (looking at you, Kalim)...!

Tries to kick Azul. Several times.

Jamil drifts off to dream land while mumbling about how he wishes he could go back to normal soon, but the smile on his face betrays him--he’s clearly enjoying being doted on.

...is quite the little troublemaker!

It feels like he never properly grew out of his teething phase as an infant. Little Lilia chomps on anything and everything he can nom, from food to furniture to his classmates.

Ignores every single one of your warnings to be careful while he’s playing. Nothing’s stopping Lilia from hanging upside down from a tree or the monkey bars.

His bat buddies still swarm and follow him wherever he goes! Lilia loves to run around in wide open spaces while his bats trail behind him~

He loves playing with his food! Another activity that Lilia loves is finger painting! He puts pink, green, and blue paint onto his palms and smears them all over blank sheets of paper to make colorful masterpieces~

Loudly screeches nursery rhymes and songs, much to the chagrin of everyone around him (excluding Cater and Kalim; they’re used to it).

In a weird reversal of roles, it’s suddenly Silver that’s fretting and mother henning over Lilia! He helps you wrestle Lilia into the bathtub and into bed while his old man squirms against his strong arms. Silver bundles Llilia up like a little bat and orders him to go to sleep, which he does after blowing a raspberry at Silver.
