Mariage Freres Afternoon Tea
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Awesome [T1921] Thiashola (Nilgiri) - the black tea, bold.
Good [T3081] Saint James (Uva Ceylan) - sophistiated, easy to drink. [T952] The a L'opera (flavored green)- smells really good. [T644] Rouge Provence (flavored rooibos)- flowery, wanna try the black tea version.
Not my cup of tea [T200] Yunnan Imperial - maybe better with normal food. [TB8201] Chandernagol - very peppery. [T8021] Vert Amande - very almond, not much of a tea. [TE6203] Automne Bleu - candy flavor, not much of a tea.
Great tea, okay savory, okay scones, and okay sweets. The best part was the tea jam.

MAY 27TH 2022 – FRIDAY
7:15 am - Presley is awake and ready to face the day she has planned out for herself. She sends Zachary a text, letting him know of her plans for the day and that she will meet up with him later at the pub. She ordered room service, a bagel with cream cheese and a large coffee to wash it down with. With her small bag in tow, she headed out of the hotel to greet the guy she hired to drive her around for the day.
8:00 am -  The first stop on her itinerary is the Musee du Louvre, a museum that is home to Leonardo da Vinci's, Mona Lisa, Theodore Gericault's, The Raft of Medusa, and Eugene Delacroix's, Liberty of Leading thePeople. Those are just a few masterpieces that Presley has always dreamed of seeing in person. Presley will forever remember seeing the Mona Lisa in person. Don't ask her how long she stood there just admiring the painting or how many pictures she snapped without getting caught, she will fib.
9:25 am -  Presley left the museum to go and people watch in a garden that was called, Jardin des Tuileries. She learned the garden was 55 acres of land and it was designed at first solely for the royal family. Presley sat on a bench and just watched the many faces that passed by her, discussing the park and how beautiful it was. She took a few photos before making her way back out of the garden.
10:00 am -  Since the Notre Dame Cathedral is still closed due to a fire, Presley visited the Sacred Heart Basilica of Montmartre. There, she climbed the three hundred steps up to the dome. It felt very rewarding and tiring at the same time to be able to make the trek up to the top. A very out of breath Presley still took pictures of the beauty the church had to offer.
11:05 am -  Shopping was next on the agenda and The Marais was the spot Presley wanted to check out. Presley window shopped through the Place des Vosges and made her way over to the boutiques, Diptyque and MAC. It was in those stores that Presley purchased some jewelry and cosmetics to take back with her to Hartsville. Presley also bought an ugly piece of manly jewelry for her father, knowing he would appreciate that she thought of him.
12:15 pm -  Presley was to meet Damien at the Mariage Freres, which was just a few feet away from where she was shopping. The pair had planned to meet up for a nice cup of tea and catch up with one another to swap stories of their experiences thus far into the trip. Presley ordered the sampler tea, which consisted of all the different varieties of they tea they had to offer, and she had a salad  to curb the hunger that she was feeling. After the two talked for what seemed like forever, Presley bid a farewell to her friend and went about her day. (I asked Damien for permission to place him there. Don't worry.)
1:30 pm -  Musee Rodin is another museum Presley wanted to visit to see the famous statues she had only seen in pictures or on tv. The famous, The Thinker statue was top on her list while here. To see these statues in person mesmerized the young girl and she had only wished Zachary was with her to experience it with. Presley liked that she finally was able to view some artwork of none other than Van Gogh and she loved seeing the gardens that Rodin had to offer.
2:45 pm -  The moment Presley found out she was going to Paris, she quickly booked tickets to the Montparnasse Tower Observation Deck. Here, you can get the best views of Paris when you reach the top deck. It is here that Presley was able to get some really amazing shots of the Eiffel Tower.  The young woman spent over an hour here, just taking in all the beauty that Paris has to offer.
4:10 pm -  Seine River is the last stop for Presley before she was to meet Zachary at the pub for a drink. This river is the heart of Paris and Presley learned that it is the lifeline for the locals since it's their reliable water supply and a major transportation route for different kinds of commerce. Presley leaned against the bridge, just taking in the view it had to offer. She even asked a stranger to take a picture of her on the bridge, which she knew was dangerous.
6:00 pm -  After a long and exciting day of shopping and checking out some of the hot spots of the city, Presley head to the pub called, Bouillon Belge. Here she met up with Zachary and anyone else who decided to stop by for a drink. It was here that Presley caved and tried on of the beers that the pub had to offer. She wasn't very fond of beer, but she wanted to at least try one while here in Paris.
8:45 pm -  Presley invited Zachary to join her at Moulin Rouge, the famous club known in Paris where you can be wined and dined all while watching a show put on by the burlesque dancers. Presley was in awe of the risque costumes the dancers adorned and this was the perfect ending to an already perfect day. Paris will definitely be missed by Presley and she was already planning her next trip there.

20 and 27?
20. a skill you’ve picked up in the past few years
Cooking! I used to hate it and I’m still not the biggest fan of anything too labor intensive but I’ve had to learn since I’ve moved out. I looooovvvveee baking breads which is something I’ve gotten into recently. I want to get into sour dough and make more complicated recipies but I’ll have to see if I really have the time.
 27. your favourite flavour and brand of tea
Earl Grey! I like Harney and Sons for sachets/bags and Mariage Freres has an amazing French Blue loose leaf Earl Grey I picked up in Paris last year. Loose leaf is the best. I wish tea shops were more common in the USA! We really are behind everyone in every aspect.

30 days of spoonie witchery
Day 2 – warm drinks and cold hands What is your favourite warm drink that makes you feel better? Create or share a tea recipe. Create or share a way to imbue magic into a warm drink.
Ooo, my fav, warm drinks! I'm a tea freak but let's lay them all out. The spoonie drinks that heal me:
The Ponyo- Super comforting. Warm milk, honey and cinnamon. Love in a mug.
Pink Lemonade- Powder mix I found has magnesium sulfate in it, which is an electrolyte I needed. Super hydrating, but over ice is best.
Damiana and Lavender- High pain days, I need my these two. Damiana is good for pain and relaxation, insomnia and lavender relaxes muscles. Half tsp lavender, little more than half a tsp of damiana, in boiling water for 10-20min. (Please research if you'll imitate, damiana is pretty strong and gets me high if I mix it with other nerve tonics.)
Tea- Caffeine can be a migraine treatment but can also be a trigger. The key is to have the same amount every day, a little bit more on bad days if it doesn't make you antsy. My black tea is a morning ritual and medicine.
Best recommendations: Harney and Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice, American Breakfast from Mariage Frere, Barry's Gold black tea, in the red box.
Quick Spell- 5 tiny scoops of sugar equal 1 scoop for each element on the pentagram, each element I ask to embue me with some characteristic they could help with, depending on what I need that day. Stir clockwise to bring in energy.

I love getting mail! Especially when that mail is from your best friend, who is currently sailing across the Atlantic. And it gets even better when there is tea inside from the Mariage Freres tea room in Paris. Someday I’ll make it there myself, but for now I will vicariously enjoy it through the written word, French porcelain, and a pot of tea. . . . #tea #teatime #timefortea #thisistea #thisisteatime #teacup #cupandsaucer #mariagefreres #greentea #looseleaf #japanesetea #airmail #handwritten #letter #limoges #haviland #porcelain #vintage #antique #luxurylifestyle #theartofslowliving #livethelittlethings #paris #demitasse #elegantliving #mindful #teagram #insteagram #teastagram (at Bellingham, Washington) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bq3QMnTluVp/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1s7hl6w5n4zb0

First name:  I try very hard to make sure it’s not possible to connect any of my fandom accounts to my real-life name, because a) I’m a grade-school teacher and I’d be risking my career and b) my IRL name is unique and google will tell you far too much about me.  Sorry.
Nicknames:  Yavie, Ms. Bumblebee
Zodiac: Sun in Pisces, Moon in Scorpio
Sexual orientation:  Mostly I like girls.
Favorite fruit:  Any fruit cooked in pastry, though I usually go for apples, blueberries, or strawberries, in that order.
Favorite season:  Fall.  I love the colors of the changing leaves, the cool crisp dry air, the wistful, nostalgic mood and the joy of the holidays right around the corner.  Halloween is the most purely fun holiday in my opinion.
Favorite books:  Um.  I am terrible at picking favorites?  I like variety, and pick books to suit my mood like I pick clothes to suit my mood.
Favorite flowers:  Those giant white spider chrysanthemums.
Favorite animal:  Either horses or cats, hard to say.
Coffee/tea/cocoa:  TEA.  It is my lifeblood.  Mariage Freres has the best teas, but Adagio is also good and PG Tips, Bigelow and Harney & Sons are all perfectly drinkable everyday teas.  I love a strong black tea, especially flavored, although I’ve had to cut back to almost all decaf tea and herbals.  I’ve also been told that I make magic tea, although it tastes the same as anyone else’s to me.  As for coffee, while I enjoy a good medium-roast pourover or French press occasionally, my caffeine tolerance is too low these days to indulge often, and cheap coffee (or Starbucks) is too harsh for my taste anyway.  Cocoa is delicious but usually too heavy for me to consider it really a drink and not a liquid dessert that leaves me thirsty because it’s so sweet.
Cat or dog person:  Cats!  Dogs are nice in small doses, but so needy and noisy and take up so much space, and always smell a bit off.  They’re like children, I love them when I can give them back at the end of the day.  Cats are quiet, generally neat creatures who are affectionate but rarely loud or demanding about it, usually very patient and calm, and can be tossed outside when necessary or left alone for a weekend with sufficient water and food.
Favorite tumblr:  Again, I am terrible at picking favorites.  My mutuals are generally lovely and lots of pretty stuff crosses my dash as well as interesting discussions, so I’m happy.
Dream trip:  At the moment I’d really like to go to Prague, I’ve heard it’s gorgeous and also very affordable from a US perspective.  Really though any sort of luxury vacation someplace with cool sunny weather, lots of trees, and lots of pampering and fancy food.
Number of followers: 253 at the moment, I hadn’t looked in awhile.  Still not sure what you’re all doing here but I hope you enjoy the aesthetic and the occasional rambling.

Mariage Freres Tea Jelly, in Earl Grey Imperial: "Created by the Mariage family in the 19th century, these collection of tea jellies, manufactured in the traditional way in copper pans, are a wonderful accompaniment to toast, brioches and scones. The fruit of this ancestral knowledge, this tea jelly, flavoured with the greatest bergamot, combines its subtlety with the splendour of the best Darjeeling teas." http://dlvr.it/PzhZrt
