Russia Introduces E-Visas for Indian Tourists

In a significant development, Russia has announced that it will be offering Electronic Visas (e-visas) to Indian passport holders starting from August 1st, 2023. This move aims to foster tourism and strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations.

The introduction of e-visas allows Indian tourists to conveniently apply for a Russian visa, streamlining the process and creating exciting prospects for travel experiences. E-visas will soon be accessible to nationals from approximately 52 countries, facilitating travel to Russia for various purposes, including tourism, business, and attending events. This initiative is expected to simplify the visa application procedure for Indian travelers, reducing the amount of documentation required and shortening the processing time.

As part of the guidelines, the processing period for a single-entry e-visa will be capped at four calendar days, and the consular fee will be set at approximately 40 United States Dollars, making it an affordable option for travelers interested in exploring Russia.

Government officials involved in this project view the implementation of the electronic visa system as a significant stride towards promoting tourism and streamlining visa procedures for Indian visitors. Additionally, the Aeroflot flights between Delhi and Moscow will contribute to making Russia more accessible than ever before. Reports indicate that the validity of the e-visa will extend up to sixty days, providing visitors with ample time—up to sixteen days—to immerse themselves in Russia's captivating sights and sounds.
