"A brilliant and brash resident of thornscrub, cactus forests and other arid landscapes. Rather large-headed, often sporting a short shaggy crest, with a blue teardrop of bare skin around each eye, thus differing from most other orioles. Vocalizations are mostly loud and flutelike."

Longyearbyen, Norway Coal Plant By Bjørn Christian Tørrissen - Own work by uploader, CC BY-SA 4.0
The old coal power plant in Longyearbyen is still standing, more than 40 years after the completion of the new one. The building is protected for historical reasons, but another reason for it not being demolished or restored is that the building contains asbestos.

We don’t know much about them, but they do appear to be special to those that made them. They are often made of special materials sourced from faraway places.

Giant African Millipede, Spirostreptus gigas (Archispirostreptus gigas)
The giant African millipede is a widespread species in lowland parts of East Africa, from Mozambique to Kenya, and can grow to over 13 inches in length. Although common in the pet trade, imports into the US are now illegal due to agricultural damage from the mites they carry.

Who needs trousers when you have legs as vibrant as these! Meet the red-shanked douc (Pygathrix nemaeus), often considered one of the most colorful monkeys around. This arboreal critter can be spotted in the forests of Cambodia and Vietnam. It’s a picky eater that closely inspects food, such as fruit and leaves, before consumption. What does it look for in a meal? Unripe fruit is preferred, along with younger leaves, which are easier to digest than older ones. Female stone age figures like these, sometimes called 'Venus Figurines,' may be symbols of survival, suggests new research. They could represent the advantage more well-fed women had at withstanding and successfully having children in the harsh and unrelenting winters of that time. Golden pheasant (Chrysolophus pictus)
The golden pheasant is a gamebird of the order Galliformes (gallinaceous birds) and the family Phasianidae (pheasants). It is native to forests in mountainous areas of western China, but feral populations have been established in the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, the Falkland Islands, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. The adult male is 90–105 cm in length, its tail accounting for two-thirds of the total length. The female (hen) is much less showy, with a duller mottled brown plumage similar to that of the female common pheasant. They feed on the ground on grain, leaves and invertebrates, but they roost in trees at night. While they can fly clumsily in short bursts, they prefer to run and spend most of their time on the ground. If startled, they can suddenly burst upwards at great speed and with a distinctive wing sound.
