The first time I listened to RQG I managed to completely miss any episodes/parts of episodes where the Meritocrats were explained to be dragons until the S1 recap, and I didn't realize how much that blindspot affected my understanding of the RQG universe until I started relistening to the series

gaang + fire nation girls and their opinions on yellowjackets??
okay well i've talked before about how katara suki and ty lee watch yellowjackets together as well as assigning each character their yellowjacket counterpart, so check those posts out too, if you want!
aang: he knows katara loves it, but he can't watch it, he finds it too upsetting and creepy
sokka: he enjoys it but katara can't stand watching it with him because he's always shit like "well if they had just listened to ben they wouldn't be in this mess" or "they should be nicer to nat" and he's killing the vibe -_-
zuko: it gives him nightmares but the good kind so he keeps watching. he's a little bit obsessed with adult shauna and adult misty they are like camp icons to him
toph: appreciates the soundtrack and also sokka's very biased recaps wherein each episodes mostly details what fresh misery his best friends nat and ben (and occasionally simone) have had to endure this time
suki: she loves the aesthetics, the tone, the suspense, the humor, the music, and most of all, the hot babes. i think she is a vangirl and a lottiegirl first and foremost so s2 was a beautiful gift to her. also she'd be lying if she said she hasn't read a fanfic or two
mai: she likes it but she thinks shauna should have, at the very least, kissed jackie's corpse, if not outright fucked it. ear eating was a good start and all, but doing your dead bestie's makeup is honestly not even weirder than what the average mortician does on a daily basis, so kind of disappointing to be honest.
azula: doesn't watch it because any tv show that isn't on hbo is too pedestrian for her refined tastes, but if she did she would be so obsessed with taissa she would be the number one taigirl and she would ship taishauna like her life depended on it!!!!
ty lee: it is one of her favorite tv shows ever because it involves lesbians eating human flesh in a bacchic frenzy and what can be better than that. she's a shaunagirl because she thinks shauna is the most unhinged and therefore the sexiest. she's the type of fan who is constantly coming up with fakakta theories about lore and where the show is gonna go next. if suki can constantly spam the yj groupchat with taivan fucking nasty in the lake 5k words then ty lee is at least allowed to predict that antler queen is actually a literal spirit of the wilderness who is personified by their very faith in the supernatural, right?
katara: a show depicting various women struggling to deal with their trauma in unhealthy unappealing destructive ways, toxic teenage girljocks who take soccer way too seriously, exploring taboos in relation to the colonial assumptions of society vs the constructed bogeyman of "the wilderness" that exists in the white supremacist imagination, and nuances of patriarchy vs relational modes of knowing through both absence and presence is exactly the kind of narrative that katara would be compelled, nay, transfixed by, even if she does have some well-deserved critiques when it comes to the show's execution, especially some of its blindspots when it comes to the issue of racialization. hence why she is the biggest yj head in this house (which is why i saved her for last). like she has a whole side twitter just for yj posting. she loves all her milf children equally, except she might have a teensy bias towards taissa for the simple fact that she is the best at soccer. katara is one of those fans who studies the soccer game in the pilot as a way of gleaning insight regarding the characters, because actually she's a really big nerd when it comes to things like that. she didn't like nat at first because she'd show up drunk to practices and that pissed her off, but then nat shared that strategy with kevyn tan's son and she decided that she was okay. stuff like that. despite the fact that she and suki have gotten into screaming matches debating jackie's sexuality ("i don't understand how you can think she isn't a lesbian how else are you supposed to read her character" "maybe she just kind of ...sucks? ever think of that?????") and also nat's (katara being of the opinion that nat is straight is actually so bravely correct of her, in this instance, despite suki's totally sympathetic objections that if nat is straight then how are she and lottie gonna partake in the milffucking?? hm?????) and also ben's ("no straight man would be carrying all those condoms with him for a weekend work trip" "suki not everyone is gay you can't just assign homosexuality to everyone you think is hot" [...] "okay i stand corrected just this once"), she is extremely emotionally invested in every single one of these characters, and seeing any of them get hurt or die makes her feel physically ill (yes, even laura lee). aang's like "you know, if this show is getting bad for your mental health, you don't have to rewatch every episode five times to pick up on nuances and easter eggs and potential foreshadowing" and katara's like "but if i don't then how will i be able to properly characterize them for my greek mythology AU novel-length fanfic???????" because she is totally normal about the show and everyone can agree on that.

Narval Thoughts Blindspot Season 4
This is a recap of the first three episodes of Blindspot Season 4 because I've fallen behind on the rewatch.
It will contain spoilers (just in case).
Madeline's character introduction is marvelous. Since the first minute is telling us: You are watching the next main villain, the one that will make everyone who came before her and after Shepard look like amateurs. Her starting point is strong, she begins killing all her associates without any regret. When she tells Tasha to put her gun down, she does it calmly and totally unconcerned, showing us how sure of herself she is and how she knows she's in charge. And her quote while toasting: "a woman who knows exactly what she wants". Perfect. I loved it. As if this hasn't been enough, in the second episode she tells us with a wide smile, how she poisoned her husband the same way and how she enjoyed it. Like, this woman doesn't bluff, she's all in. But she does manipulate her image to the rest of the world.
I like how well Remi learned to act like Jane, but I love even more how every now and then she fails to act like her.
I can't explain how much I love that Rich keeps calling Zapata "What's her name?". I mean, they worked together long enough for him to know her name, and he does but arbitrarily decides to continue "pretending" not to know her name.
There are three things I can not be objective about in this show, and Boston is one of those. Patterson and Rich are the other two things, to no one's surprise. My point here is that every time those three meet, it is a great episode. I love Boston's passive-aggressive comments and Patterson's comebacks. I love his humor and the constant "egos fight" with Patty when we all know that deep down they love each other. I mean, she called him to work on Wizarville. And I love that he calls her Pat-Pat.
I complained before about how bad the camera movements and focus were, and at least in these three episodes, I can see an improvement. The movements are smoother, and there are almost no out-of-focus. I don't know if they practiced more before shooting or if they changed the cameraman, but it works better. I mean, look at the scene with Remi and Boris in the second episode. The camera circled around them and the focus never went out. It seems a little dumb to be happy about it, but compared to the other seasons, it makes a difference.
About the whole situation of Reade and Tasha, here's when I dissociate the most. I mean, I like how everyone is looking out for Reade because they know what it means for him that Tasha left the way she did and I like the way they try to support him too. But my mind is Zapatterson 100%, so every time Patty talks about Tasha in these episodes, my mind works in the background imagining the same situation but with Zapatterson being canon. I can't help it or even control it, it just happens.
But I do like Patty trying to have some dates or casual encounters, but like always, she is never lucky enough. Not even when she's trying to have a one-night encounter. And she's so clumsy about it, almost adorable, and a little embarrassing, how badly she lies to try to hide it from Rich and Weitz.
About Weitz... I previously said I liked the one from seasons 1 and 2, but being honest and rewatching these episodes, I think it was just because of the green power ranger syndrome, that I already talked about. But honestly, he's a great character. He is now here to hinder the investigations, making sure nothing makes him look bad, politically speaking, even if it messed up the cases. But at some point, it became hilarious and likable. Like his enthusiasm in the third episode with the Quantico recruits and his proposal to bring the field to them, it's almost adorable.
And I love how Patty finally confronts him, the whole conversation between them at that tense moment was perfect. Like, she told him what needed to be said.
But the whole third episode is a great one, and I could be talking about it for hours, so I'd better finish this post here 😅

okay girl, so say i haven’t been here since 2020 and just happened to stumble upon this little place again. how would you give me a quick recap of everything that’s happened? 😭😭😭 sorry queen
oh god im so sorry HAHAHA. nice to see you again!! uhh..i don’t know where to start. jasmine and anthony got a dog named prince. the rest is just gonna be an overview i think. jasmine is the lead in the show version of blindspotting on starz and season 2 should be out at some point this year. anthony’s leading the new transformers movie and he is playing a villain called the hood in the marvel disney+ show ironheart. he’s currently been working on latin music. okayyy..sorry bestie boo. jas and ant broke up in late november 2021. so sorry if you didn’t know that already. a video came out of him allegedly cheating, but the video most likely wasn’t him cheating. we still don’t know the truth because nothing ever has been confirmed or denied. though, a lot of us don’t think he actually cheated so there’s that. as of this year, they both seemed happy and moved on. hope you enjoyed this!

Week 4 Recap
Tumblr media
Exercise:
Sun Dec 31 - 1:10p, hike in Econ Wilderness Area with my youngest son, 2.79 mi, 1:08:31
Mon Jan 1 - 9:58a, outdoors near home, 3.5 mi, 35:45, 10:12 pace
Tue Jan 2 - 8:09a, outdoors near home, 35 min tempo, 12 min easy/18 min acceleration/5 min easy, 3.82 mi, 9:10 avg pace
Wed Jan 3 - 9:14a, outdoors near home, 3 mi, 30:53, 10:17 pace
Thu Jan 4 - rest
Fri Jan 5 - 7:04a, outdoors near home, 3 mi, 30:41, 10:12 pace
Sat Jan 6 - 7:11a, in the rain, Lockwood to McCullough to Old Lockwood to Lockwood, 7 mi, 1:10:45, 10:05 pace
Diet:
Grades by day: Sun C, Mon A-, Tue B, Wed A-, Thu, B, Fri B-, Sat C
That's an EGPA for the week of 2.86, a B/B-, better than Q1's 2.40, the 2nd best week to week 1's 3.14. Still under 3.0 is not going to get it done in terms of my weight loss goals.
Alcohol - 10 drinks, the highest so far. Was actually surprised when I looked that up. 4 beers on New Year's Eve, my last beers until the race. Doing red wine only in Jan, no alcohol in Feb. Had 2 glasses of red wine on New Year's Day, 1 glass the next day, 3 straight days of no drinking, then 3 glasses of red wine on Saturday while cooking dinner and watching football. I have to drink less if I want to lose weight, but hopefully I don't have to think too deeply about this, going red wine only should naturally solve for this (though I just had 6 glasses of red wine in 6 days, so who knows).
Weigh-in:
194.4, what more can I say that I didn't already say.
Music:
New music this week- finally got around to listening to André 3000's flute album, New Blue Sun (2023). I mean, it's fine background music:
youtube
Old album new to me this week - mid '00s to mid '10s is a musical blindspot to me, got married, had 3 kids, streaming didn't exist yet, wasn't easy to keep up on new stuff. Neon Indian's Psychic Chasm (2009) wasn't too bad:
youtube
Old album I listened to the first time in a while this week - One Hot Minute (1995) by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the one with Dave Navarro, much less popular than the one with "Under the Bridge" from the early '90s or Californication from the late '90s, but this album reminds me of high school and is my favorite of theirs:
youtube
Rereading:
Only reread chapters 14 and 15 of Kafka on the Shore this week. A dog leads Nakata to Johnny Walker, who tells him he knows where the cat he is looking for is. Kafka stay alone in the mountain cabin and explores the surrounding forest a bit. Both seem to be heading down ominous paths.
Kafka waking up in the middle of nowhere covered in someone else's blood is me stepping on the scale weighing nearly 195 pounds. Like Kakfa, I am going dust myself off and persevere. I have my path.

Blindspot 4x03
Had a busy Halloween week (my first ever!) so I’m extra late today. Also changed my format slightly bc what is consistency?
Reade-- What is there to say, other than he looks super cute covered in paint? It’s kinda weird that the usual ‘main team’ has barely been seen this whole ep-- and even then, mostly only through brief video calls or over the comms. And Reade wasn’t even heard from at all during the actual bomb disarming. Honestly though…. I’m kinda down with that. As much as I love the others, we all know Rich and Patterson are my Dream Team lol
Zapata-- yep there’s Zapata, jogging slowly away from her problems as usual lol. Seriously though what is she doing being apprenticed to a literal evil witch EXPLAIN GERO. Ugh I feel so bad for her but a little bit ‘serves you right’ at the same time. Though lbr I just want her to come homeeeee
Weller-- I feel like this dude has been on the edge of tears for like a year. Poor guy. But omg does he make a cuuuute Jackson Pollock lol. I love him being all serious and sarcastic towards Madeline while literally covered in paint and feathers. I feel like the real mystery of this ep is HOW DOES IT MAKE HIM HOTTER. Someone please explain. Also oooh he cannot be happy about being stuck in the station while ‘Jane’ is zooming away on a doomed train. ALSO SPEAKING OF WHICH, dude the bomb is on one of the lines past the apartment I lived in back in September. I got off at that station multiple times aaaahhhhhh this is so cool. Ugh now he’s back at the apartment crying over Jane again ahah. Seems like all the poor dude does these days is hug her and cry. But wait, maybe not! Ooooh he followed her and he has got his suspicion on. THERE’S the badass agent we’ve been missing!
Remi-- I feel like she actually feels a tiny bit bad that she made Weller cry?? Lol girl’s supposed to be killing him and she has a hard time even seeing him cry. Lbr she’s gonna fall for him despite herself, his mix of badass agent and suburban dad is apparently just irresistible to any iteration of her being lol. Tbh I loved the sequence of her disarming the bomb over the comms-- in most eps we would be with her and Weller and Reade out in the field and only hearing the home team over the comms, I loved seeing this turnabout. Also ugh she nearly lashes out at Weller when he lifts her hand bc she’s such an abused little puppy that she doesn’t know anything but coldness or punishment and I think she was startled and secretly pleased to be greeted with cheers and hailed as a hero. Ugh Remi honey you’re gonna grow to love it here. “... right under our noses, putting on a friendly face, pretending to be the hero” I guess she’s seeing some similarities between herself and Madeline lol. And then oooh on the couch, Roman’s like the devil on the shoulder trying to pull her back into the deep shadows of the dark side and then Weller appears and shines all his love and support all over her and Roman disappears for a moment. I see what you’re doing here Gero…. Also lol Remi must be surprised at how easily she can make Weller cry haha
Patterson-- okay firstly, how dare some guy make out with my baby and not know her name. Also, I just have mixed feelings about the making out in general but I am all about supporting my precious queen. THen I was like ‘pfft she won’t say her name’ and then SHE SAID HER NAME AND I SCREAMED and then it hit me that she was almost definitely undercover and I was like ‘oh a fake name of course, shit Gero you got me well done’ and then turns out it wasn’t an op but a whole different kind of ‘undercovers’ hahahahaha. Well good on you girl I support you and all your choices. BUT WAS IT A FAKE NAME OR NO??? Omg okay yes it was, thanks for the heart attack Gero. Is anyone else having early Grey’s Anatomy flashbacks rn lol or is that just me haha. Also flustered Patterson is the most adorable Patterson, fight me on it.Ugh poor girl cannot seem to catch a break this ep and you KNOW Rich is deliberately playing with her lol. But also I mean c’mon writers, Patterson is a professional agent, I can see her being flustered to start but let’s not act like she wouldn’t suck it up and focus on her job pretty quick. Also omg *dead serious voice* “I can already tell you, that I’m gonna scoff” is one of the best lines of the episode and probably the entire show lol. “Okay get to the part where you solved it. Oh my god I just sounded like Weller” hahaha well  he is your big bro, so makes sense you’d pick up a few traits lol. Great throwback to the ‘where math is done’ line too writers, nice work. Also wow the way she just went toe-to-toe with Weitz… why do I ship it a tiny bit lol?? And I also kinda ship her with Lincoln. Get it, girl!
Rich-- how was him being like ‘Hey guys here’s the terrorist’s address okay be careful bye’ one of the funniest things he’s ever done??? I stg whoever writes Rich needs to be my new best friend. Though tbh he does actually seem almost a touch subdued in this first scene, without that usual devilish gleam in his eyes… maybe he’s trying to show he can be both useful AND mature so they don’t actually decide to replace him with Boston haha. “I didn’t say magic, I’m not seven, I said magical cures’ hahahaha my baby. And he’s so excited to brief the recruits ugh. And then omg “sounds like the greatest takedown in FBI history I’m so sorry I missed it” aren’t we all, buddy lol. Also ugh him and his little recruit ducklings LET ME DIE. “There’s a bomber! Who bombs!” literally if someone who had Rich’s sense of humour and talked like he talks were to appear in my life I would marry them on the spot. “He’s probably an angry man with a victim complex, that’s a dangerous combination” OKAY EVERYONE LET’S FACE IT THE BOMBER GUYS CAN GO HOME BECAUSE RICH JUST DROPPED THE BIGGEST BOMB OF THE EPISODE RIGHT THERE. “Oh yeah, would an unprofessional do something like this??” The answer is yes and also marry me. And ugh he says his main reason for going after the book of secrets is because Jane is dying ughhhhh he is too good for this worldddd. Also wtf was that weird cackle when describing Roman that was hilarious. “It’s been very evident all day. Also I am like a sex-narc and you are terrible at lying” EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS MAN AND THIS FRIENDSHIP IS THE BEST THING IN THE WORLD. “It’s very unprofessional, I think that’s what thrills me the most actually” hahahahaha. “This is my smug face, I save it for special occasions” hahahaaha c’mon no he does not, that’s just his normal face but THIS is why I felt he seemed more serious than usual, it was so his face could be extra smug later hahahaha. And the victory dance??? “You and me, Ride or Die”?? Let’s be real I am SO ride or die for these two there is literally nothing more important than this friendship aaaaaaaahhhhhh
Weitz-- I love this sleazy bastard and his weird love/hate feelings towards Zapata and his semi-corrupt work ethic lol. Also omg yasss he told them all about Zapata leaking info to Carter! I wondered if that would ever come out. And omg he’s Patterson’s hookup’s uncle THIS EP IS RIDICULOUS AND I LOVE IT. Also oh no “What am I saying, special treatment’s fine” was hilarious, like uh oh no way am I starting to love Weitz??? I am having feelings about a Patterson/Rich/Weitz dream team haha. “Might be our only shot at [Madeline], so it is unfortunate that you look like that” how does this show do so many characters with their own distinctive styles of sass I love it so much. Also, show of hands, who thinks this guy is on some kind of uppers because honestly at this stage I’m convinced haha. He’s especially nuts when he comes in to give Patterson the special computer-- which I’m sure that a) she already would have had one of, and b) someone in his postion would have just had someone deliver for him. Although it does seem like he makes any excuse to come hang out and be bizarre. He’s the boss I wish I had lol. Especially if I happened to be related to him bc wow there is some unabashed nepotism happening right here haha. Oh dear he seems to be coming down off his high right now and is getting grumpy. Better call his assistant to bring his next hit lol. Also “CAN YOU JUST CHECK HIS WORK PLEASE” clearly withdrawing-Weitz has no time for workplace flirting hahahaha. And ugh then Patterson stands up to him and he listens to her and holy shit that was a big amount of trust, if they were wrong the whole city is gonna turn on him for letting so many more people die than was necessary. Looks like he doesn’t just always do what protects his own ass??
Afreen-- you are a queen and I love you

#Blindspot Season 3 Recap/Review
Season Three of Blindspot had raised the bar! Here's a recap!
From the season two finale, we jump into flashbacks of Jane and Weller's wedding; We see in the present of Weller looking for Jane. The FBI ask for Weller's help and as he rejoins the FBI to fine Jane. Weller learns that Reade is in charge. And Zapata, who's working for the CIA,; who comes to help.
As Weller fines Jane and take on bounty hunters; in the classic taken down fashion like they do.  Then new tattoos appeared on Jane's body. Roman wants them to solve them. It becomes a real cat and mouse brother-sister style with the tattoos that leads to many, many shocking twist and turns with two of the main ones: 1. Looking for Crawford and 2. Jane has/has a daughter.
Let's start with Crawford as he's one of the powerful businessman in the world. Roman does his thing by portraying someone in his security and gets in a love interest with Crawford's daughter, Blake. There was a much bigger reason why Roman wants Jane and Weller to take down Crawford.  As Roman gains Crawford's trust and tries to get Jane, Weller and the FBI to take him down.
What Weller and the team didn't know was that their FBI Director Hirst is working for Crawford on the inside to stop the investigation. She tries to get Reade to drop some of the cases and even threaten him to do task.
The second thing was that Jane has a daughter. Roman isn't the only one who knows about Jane's daughter. Weller knows too. He confronts Jane about his encounter with her. And when they were checking out suspicious activity, she got caught in crossfire from Weller's gun. Jane didn't take that too well and walked away from him.
Soon, they found Jane's daughter, Avery. And after they rescued her; it wasn't the warmest reunion to see. But the two grew closer and even adding Weller to the mix things were all good. They even tried to work together going against Crawford.
As the team goes after Crawford and Jane kills him. Jane hunts down Roman, who dies as she gets there just in time to say goodbye. Soon,, Jane, who's been suffering from the side-effects from the memory drug, is hospitalized but when she wakes up, she's not the Jane we all knew as Remi is back.
Season 3 of Blindspot was literally one of the best seasons so far. The character development was so strong and even the writing so as amazing the previous season. There were so many moments, Reade and Zapata opening up their feelings for one another, Patterson and Dot Com working together, even Patterson's Groundhog Day episode "Everlasting." David Morse was the perfect choice to play Crawford, as he can play a guy with such a dark side.  Overall, I give the season a 8.9/10.
I literally can't wait for the new season to start tonight. Remi is back and now I'm guessing we're gonna see the real her now.
You can catch the season premiere of Blindspot tonight at 8/7c on NBC

I'm developing a story in my head and I'm thinking about writing it down. The thing is, I have it in my head like a tv show, each episode something new happens and it has a theme around it (It will be a detective story, each episode there is a new crime and new things revolve around it) but if I want to write it down. The chapters will be so short and it will be hard to keep up with it. Do you have any idea to basically how to turn a tv show (in my head) to a novel with decent chapters. TIA!
Turning Episodic Ideas (Like a TV Show) Into a Novel
Guide: All About Story Arcs in Television and Novels
In order to tackle this question, I think it would be helpful if we dive into the concept of “arcs” and what they mean in television vs what they mean in books. Because as much as it may seem so at times, TV dramas are almost never only episodic. Each episode ties to the rest of the episodes through various types of story arcs.
What is a Story Arc?
Story arcs are a series of events centered around a particular conflict or theme that plays out from the beginning to end of a specified time period. In TV, that time period may be an episode or a few episodes, a season, or the entire series. In books, that period may be a part/act, book, or series. Both books and television juggle these different kinds of arcs simultaneously.
Story Arcs in Television
Episode arcs are the story arcs that play out from the beginning of a TV show episode to its end. So, in a detective show, it would be whatever crime they’re solving in that episode. The crime is introduced at the beginning of the episode, investigated throughout the episode, and solved by the end of the episode.
Season arcs are the story arcs that play out from the beginning of a season to the end of the season. In many TV dramas, this conflict revolves around a “big bad” that will be defeated by the end of the season. The “big bad” is typically introduced at the end of the previous season, is battled throughout the season, and is defeated by the end of the season.
Series arcs are the story arcs that play out from the beginning of a series to the end of the series. This is the conflict at the heart of the show, that is introduced at the beginning, plays out throughout the entire series, and is resolved at the end. In speculative fiction shows like The X-Files, Once Upon a Time, or Lost, this conflict revolves around the mythology behind the story. Such as the alien conspiracy Mulder and Scully are constantly up against in The X-Files, the curses and battle between light and dark in Once Upon a Time, and the Jacob vs The Man in Black/light vs dark conflict that tie together the fates of the characters in Lost. In contemporary drama, such as family dramas or crime dramas, the series arc may be based on the overall story’s mythology (such as with This is Us or Blindspot) or it may be situation/character based, as in something like Designated Survivor.
Character arcs are the arcs that center around the internal conflict of each main character.
Story Arcs in Novels
Section arcs are conflicts that are specific to a section of the book, such as a part or an act. In a heist story, the section arc of part one might revolve around the conflict related to planning the heist and recruiting the crew. In Leigh Bardugo’s Six of Crows, for example, it was breaking Mattias Helvar out of Hellgate because they needed him for the bigger heist. Not all books have section arcs.
Story arcs are what we call the arc of the whole book/story (book one, book two, book three, etc.) that is introduced at the beginning of the book, plays out through the book, and is resolved by the end of the book.
Series arcs, in books just as in TV, are the story arcs that play out from the beginning of the series to the end of the series. In George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones series, the series arc was the conflict of getting “the rightful ruler” on the Iron Throne.
Character arcs (just as in television) are the arcs that center around the internal conflict of each main character.
Tumblr media
Turning Episodic Ideas Into a Novel
So, now that we’ve had a recap of different kinds of story arcs, we can tackle the heart of your question, which is how to turn episode-like ideas into a story with chapters.
The answer is this: you need to figure out a story arc to tie all of these “episodes” into a bigger picture, and if you want this book to be a series of books, you’ll want a series arc, too. And, whether you do a stand alone or a series, you’ll need to figure out some internal conflicts for your main characters so you can have character arcs, too.
These arcs are what take your individual “episodes” and ties them into a bigger story that spans the book from beginning to end. You could choose to make the story arc and your protagonist’s character arc one and the same if you want something more character-centric. Or, you might choose a “big bad” who is somehow behind all of the episodic conflicts, even if indirectly. You might even go with a situational conflict, like cleaning up crime in a particular part of the city and/or overthrowing a corrupt police chief.
I hope this helps!

Talks Machina Highlights - Critical Role C2E134 & 135 (April 27, 2021)
It's late, it's great, it's... Talks Machina! Tonight's guests: Ashley Johnson & Taliesin Jaffe! Immediately, I distractedly pour beer onto my steak instead of steak sauce. It's been one of those weeks, what can I say?
Taliesin has a new rule for 2021 - no passively wearing t-shirts. Button-downs only! I appreciate this from a distance. Caduceus had a very hard time saying goodbye to his family. The vision from the Wildmother helped a lot in giving him peace. He also is conflicted because Caduceus knows he should stay, but really didn't...want to stay, which surprised Taliesin.
Ashley laughs that sometimes during voiceover recording or recaps, she has moments of thinking - "I wasn't there for this scene! And then I remember that Travis was playing her, or Matt was playing her. Oh yeah, I totally remember this!" Even now Blindspot's reach...reaches.
It's so intense being the focus of Matt's attention in one-on-one situations. "It's so stressful. Math goes out the window, everything goes out the window, it's like woo-woo-woo." There's intense pressure not to fuck it up. Right before they started the game, Travis made some offhand comment about her being ready to die, and during the whole Stormlord scene he kept making eyebrows to remind her of it.
Being the Stormlord's champion gives her a feeling of purpose, a special reason to exist. She thinks about how much longer she would have been in the service of Oban if the Stormlord hadn't saved her.
The whole Clay family didn't leave all at once, it was one every few years. His sister was the "hypnotized version of Danny Kay in the Court Jester," who was ready to get out as soon as possible. She was the "anywhere-but-here" sibling and was the smart one. Taliesin feels bad that she went out and immediately turned into stone.
Ashley is super excited about the Holy Avenger. If she can roll well and actually hit something, she's very happy to be carrying it around.
Caduceus has just connected his dream with the plot/the Mighty Nein. Tal's embarrassed it took him so long to figure it out, especially since he wrote it & had intended it to be a nice connection to Mollymauk!
Yasha is holding onto her last request just in case it comes up in game again.
Cosplay of the Week: a spectacular Astrid in black velvet by @shelflifecosplay on Twitter. She looks amazing!
Caduceus doesn't really care about the intent of these people not caring about/believing in the gods in their location. Especially since he follows a nature god, he thinks "clearly you guys have taken this as far as it's gonna go, and clearly you all couldn't get over your shit and are now causing problems hundreds of years later." He's not one to take offense.
In a similar vein, exploring this place is very wild to Yasha as she's already working on navigating her relationship to the Stormlord.
Both Caduceus & Yasha (and Taliesin & Ashley) are disappointed that Charlie can't follow them through the rest of the dungeon. :( "There was a sidequest. We deserve a robot!"
Caduceus has embraced a certain amount of "fuck it" practicality and has been willing to bend certain personal rules to keep everyone alive. He is less and less conflicted casting Speak With Dead when bodies in dangerous situations might be able to reveal information.
Taliesin was Dani's last hug over a year ago. :(
Aeor in general is very hard for Yasha to wrap her brain around. She's a little frightened by it. The eyes on Beau and Caleb are really freaking her out. She's a little like the group's border collie: "I'm gonna keep you all together! I'm gonna keep you all safe!"
"Matt is the kindest, most wonderful soul, but there is a darkness sometimes...Where does that come from?"
In any other circumstance, Cad would have been doing Superman loops in that ward's flight. He was disheartened by the sheer scope of what they were looking at. Brian is loving the art coming out of these scenes.
Brian laughs that we are now seeing the "push-the-button" side of Ashley the way we know Travis does. She tries to hold back where Yasha would, but she really likes the element of chaos. She loves the robe she pulled out.
Fanart of the Week: Molly leading the Tombtakers by casukaga on Twitter.
Brian has put an old-fashioned typewriter on a modern DJ stand for a bit. I am both stunned and utterly unsurprised.
Taliesin talks about various museums he's been to: The Twinkie Museum, the Museum of Miniatures, a dollhouse museum, the Museum of Jurassic Technology...Brian tells us about an exhibit he and Ashley saw a history of STDs & the effects on the body over time. "There were a lot of jars..."
Taliesin has been thinking about Cad's conversation with Veth a lot since they had it. He stands by everything he said, and notes that Veth is a very difficult character to play asking very difficult questions. He wonders where Sam is at with the war between what you want to do and what you feel you must do.
How does Yasha feel about an Official Relationship with Beau? Great! She was worried about how to make the transition from friends to significant others & was very excited for Yasha to be able to share this openly with her friends. She likes being embarrassed by Beau's PDA.
Caduceus is comfortable heading out with the team because he is convinced that even if he dies, this is what he was intended to do. Yasha loved that they had one last family dinner.
Caduceus doesn't really register the Aeor effect as magic, just general weirdness affecting his attempts to keep people alive.
Ashley & Taliesin are both super conscious of the time they are spending in every choice. Ashley does feel like she's trying to eke out a few more moments here and there where she can. It's such a wonderful game and she wants to get the last few moments with her friends where she can.
And that's that! Is it Thursday yet? (Yes, yes it is!)

idek if you can call that a confession scene in in schitt’s creek.  to recap: Patrick has dinner for David’s birthday but doesn’t tell David it’s a date so David invites Stevie.  They figure it out when Patrick goes to the bathroom and then Stevie leaves so they have a normal date.  Patrick drives david home and then David kisses Patrick and then Patrick admits that he’s never kissed a man before.  It’s basically a reversal of the platonic ideal of a confession scenario.  So like what I generally expect is:
friendship
both people feel romantic/sexual feelings for the other person
one person recognizes and eventually decides to act on those feelings
confession
the other person recognizes those feelings in themself
first kiss
mutual understanding of reciprocated feelings
first date
and also I’d generally expect 4+5+6 to happen all in one scene and for 7 to be inherent in 6
ofmd did it in this order: 1 2 3 4 6 7 5 which is insane.  Only the power of a huge blindspot when it comes to one’s own feelings could cause 5 to happen after 7
schitt’s creek did: 1 2 3 8 5 6 7 4.  Arguably there wasn’t even a confession about romantic feelings because David figured it out but there was a confession and it was about Patrick having no romantic experience with other men.  Also normally I’d say it’s not a date unless both characters know it's mutual but they both knew about their own feelings and David knew it was mutual so close enough imo.  Extremely date-like situations are v common at every point up until reaching 8 but I’d generally not call them real dates.  Like Jake and Amy are on a fake date and mutually know that they both have some romantic feelings but don’t mutually know that they’re both willing to date other cops so I’d consider that not a real date and not real first kisses
so b99 did it like this: 1 2 3 4 5 4 7 6 8
parks&rec: bonus enemies and then 1 2 5 5 7 8 3 4 6 the two 5s is that they both recognize it and decide not to act on it
and the office (US) is: 1 2 3 4 6 5 7 8
just looking at the numbers it’s possible to conclude that the office and ofmd hurt the most possibly because they’re the closest to a normal 1-8 so it seems like they’re not going to break the order which only makes it worse when they do break the order but if you remember the context of both shows it’s actually painful because it’s obvious to the audience that it’s mutual but due to love triangle nonsense (which gets preemptively resolved in b99 and is straight up a non-issue in schitt’s creek and p&r) the characters continue to think that it’s not mutual :’(
lastly: girl help I’m comparing jim and pam to ed and stede.  a prankster who’s extremely good at his job which only contributes to how boring it is for him and the amateur artist/pirate who is also p bored with their life (which draws them to the prankster) and has a fiance/spouse that hates their hobby
