10 Must Visit Places In Tamil Nadu For Experiencing The Best Of The State
Tamil Nadu is the southernmost state in India. It boasts the hill station, forest, waterfalls, temples and sea beaches. The best time to visit Tamil Nadu is from August to February. The summer is too hot. It is a tourist friendly place.
Tumblr media
Tamil Nadu Tourism is popular for a historic tour, pilgrim tour, nature tour, honeymoon tour, adventure tour and heritage tour. It is advisable to visit the below-mentioned top 10 places to see in Tamil Nadu.
1.       Marina Beach
It is the longest and largest sea beach in India. It is in the state capital of Chennai. Yet, you cannot do any swimming and other water sport activity in this beach. You can enjoy the sea breeze and eateries found on the beach. It is the poor man’s beach in the summer season. There is no much attraction on this beach as there are many government offices and educational institution present opposite of the beach.
2.       Mamalapuram
It is an 8th century monument and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Tamil Nadu. You can see the single rock-cut temples, caves, and sculptures on the seashore of Mamalapuram or Mahabali Puram. This is also a scenic beach to view those monuments from the beach. It is around 55-Kms by road from Chennai.
3.       Pondicherry
The Pondicherry or Puducherry is the erstwhile French Colony. You can still find the traces of colonial rule in this union territory on the shores of Bay of Bengal in Tamil Nadu. It is 151-Kms away from Chennai via road. It is the place for weekend getaway for the Chennaites. It is an international tourist destination too. It boasts cheap bar and pubs throughout the city.
4.       Madurai  Meenakshi Temple
It is an ancient temple a must to visit once in Madurai. This is a Hindu temple, which is a masterpiece of the Dravidian architecture. You can see many small, medium and large sculptors on all its four towers and inside shrine. Every stone art is remarkable and breathes taking. You will never find a similar temple anywhere in this world.
5.       Ooty
The Ooty or Udhagamandalam is the popular hill station for the south Indians. You can visit its lakes, waterfalls, botanical gardens, tea estate, and wildlife sanctuary. The viewpoint or the highest peak Dodapetta is (8652-ft) above the mean sea level. You can have to great view of Coimbatore down from this viewpoint. You can see the Madurai Meenakshi Temple from its telescope house too.
6.       Kodaikanal
It is a hill station in the Dindugal District of Tamil Nadu. It is a budget-friendly place to take a honeymoon tour and a hideout place for the summer season in Tamil Nadu. There are waterfalls, forest, tea garden and lakes as main attractions. The summer pulls more tourists from Tamil Nadu.
7.       Courtallam Falls
The Courtallam Falls is major natural waterfalls in Tamil Nadu. It has three drops from an altitude of 520-ft. You can also visit other tow waterfalls in the same region. You can take oil massage and bath in this water. You will be rejuvenated due to the mineral properties of the water and the traditional massage they offer.
8.       Kanyakumari
This is the confluence of three oceans (Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean). It is the only place to see the sunrise and sunset on the beach of Kanyakumari. It is the southernmost tip of India too. It boats the Thiruvaluvar statue and the Vivekananda Rock on a sea rock.
9.       Rameshwaram
This is a historical place as Lord Rama crossed the Palk Strait and reach Sri Lanka by the sea. The DanushKodi (Island) is the last strip of land on the easternmost part of Tamil Nadu. The train route to this island via Pamban Bridge will be breathtaking, as it is a bridge above the sea. It is a popular pilgrim place for the Lord Rama devotees.
10.   Chennai
You must not miss Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu. It has many amusement parks, seaside resorts and sea beaches up to Pondicherry via East Coast Road (ECR). It is a developing city to see its OMR road IT hubs, the Guindy flyover, St Thomas Mount.
