Sonic and Tails Wholesome Wednesday The Third

If you have seen the others you know the drill. Fic is under the cut! Also, yes this is based on yet another headcanon. I am cringe, yet free. (Also no, this is not the fic the poll was for, that's next week.)

“Hey, Sonic?”

“Yeah?”

“...Nah, nevermind. It’s a dumb question-” “No it ain’t!”

Tails blinked in shock before sending Sonic a look, “You don’t even know what it is!”

“Yeah, but if your smart brain hasn’t figured it out yet then it has to be a smart question!”

Tails let out a sigh before fidgeting with his hands, “Well, it’s also because I don’t want to pry or make you uncomfortable…”

Sonic tilted his head as if in thought, “How about this then? If it makes me uncomfortable, I simply won’t answer it!”

The fox’s eyes widened, “Oh, yeah, you could do that.”

“Exactly! Now lay it on me!”

“Well, I was wondering why you always talk over people? It doesn’t bother me! Honest! But I can tell it is bothering the others....”

Sonic’s face immediately became confused, “I talk over people?”

“...Yeah, you do.”

Now it was Tails' turn to be confused. In all honesty he was expecting an answer along the lines of “People talk too slow” or “I ain’t interested in what they’re saying! No offense.”

How did Sonic not know he was talking over people?

Sonic himself looked confused and even a little shocked. Tails had no idea how to continue this conversation.

Luckily, Sonic does it for him.

“Do I do it often?”

“Uh, yeah? Just yesterday you did it like five times with Knuckles.”

“...Is that why it looked like he wanted to punch me?”

Tails had to hold back a laugh at that, “Yeah, probably.”

“Ah, suddenly a lot of things are making sense…”

Tails gave Sonic a confused look, “What?”

“Alright, this is gonna sound weird but to me you guys talk…slow. And I don’t mean it in a mean way! I mean, like, you guys sound like you say a word and then three seconds later you say another word. Does that make sense? I feel like it doesn’t.”

…What.

“Wait, so like, everytime we speak it sounds like we take a pause after each word?”

“Yeah! And it’s really hard to tell if you guys are still speaking or not because one moment you would say a word and next it’s just pure silence.”

“Hold on then, how come you sound like you’re talking normally to me?”

“I pause for three seconds before saying the other word, duh.”

Tails has no idea how through half of his life he has never known this. All the rambles that Tails goes on must feel like hour podcasts to Sonic. Sonic looks highly amused that Tails didn’t know this but also really shocked over the fact that he had just found out that normal people don’t pause for three seconds before saying another word in a sentence.

Tails suddenly wondered if this applies to other things as well. Walking, sleeping, anything and everything. Sonic, unaware of the poor fox’s thoughts, grinned as if he just thought of something.

“Do you want to hear what it sounds like when I talk without pauses?”

Tails blinked in shock.

“....Yes. Yes I do.”

He spoke, as he pulled out his phone and hit record.

“Why are you recording?”

“Science.”

“Alright, fair enough. Ready?”

“No, but yes at the same time.”

This got a chuckle out of Sonic before he cleared his throat.

“Normalspeaking normalspeaking normalspeaking.That'srightfolksIamthetrueEminem,hedoesn’tevencomparetome.That’showcoolIam.AlsoTailsIloveyabro,that’srightwehavepositivityherelittlebro,weren’texpectingthatwereyou?Doesthishurtyourearsbytheway?YourfacelookslikeIamhurtingyourearsdoyouwantmetostop?”

Tails just gave the hedgehog a confused and shocked look and Sonic realized that Tails probably didn’t understand what he just asked.

“Was that good?”

Tails nodded his head and Sonic closed his mouth. To Tails, that sounded like pure, utter gibberish but he knew that if he slowed down the video he just recorded enough that what Sonic said would sound like a sentence to him.

“...I am sending this to everyone.”

“Gasp, how could you. You said it was for science!”

“Yeah, but it would also help them understand why you talk over them some-” “Okay, fair enough.”

Tails bit his lip and sent a look towards Sonic, “You did that on-” “Purpose? Yeah, I did. Who's gonna stop me? The speaking police?”

Tails mischievously grinned, “Yeah, because I’m them.”

Sonic let out a fake dramatic gasp, “You’re gonna arrest me? Your own big brother? How could you!?”

“Simply because I feel like it,” Tails dramatically answered.

Sonic opened his mouth but his stomach let out a growl. “Oof, hungry.”

Tails also happened to realize that his stomach was running empty as well.

“Food?”

“Food.”

I think it'd be funny if Luke and Joffrey got the tall genes and Jace got the short genes. Luke and Joffrey being tall as Ser Harwin and then you have Jace whos barely taller then their mom. They would 100% laugh and poke fun at Jace while Jace just rolls his eyes and deals with it but Luke sometimes still hides behind his older brother and Joffrey will as follow after him whereever he goes. Jace knows that he'll always be their older brother and will always adore them even if he teases and pokes at them for when they hide behind him.
