Buck & Eddie: CANON Songs of Their Love Story continues…6x2
Their LOVE story is continuing to be told in CANON by the songs included in their scenes and there were 2 songs in episode 6x2 “Crash and Learn”.
Tumblr media
Here are the links to the posts for the songs that were included in previous episodes:
Seasons 2-5: “Their LOVE story is also being told in CANON by the songs included in their scenes”
6x1 “Let the Games Begin”: “CANON Songs of Their Love Story continues… 6x1″
Separate posts for each episode will be uploaded weekly provided there were any songs that pertain to their story included in that week’s episode. (Please note: 6x3 “The Devil You Know” appears to be a bottle episode that will be focused on Bathena, therefore it’s highly unlikely that it will include any songs that pertain to Buck and Eddie. The next post in this series will probably be for 6x4 “Animal Instincts”).
There were 2 songs in 6x2 that were used as foreshadowing for Buck and Eddie; one is linked to their love story and the second one is linked to Buck’s pending breakdown.
6x2 “Crash and Learn”
Tumblr media
Scene: The 118 responded to a call about two explosions in a couple’s backyard
Song: Finally Mine by Juliet Roberts
Lyrics: “Finally, Finally mine. Your love is finally mine. I've been waiting for so long. Oh, oh, oh. I've been hoping and wishing and waiting and dreaming. Finally. Finally mine.”
The song starts right after the camera pans past Buck to Hen and she asks the wife, “Where was he?” when she inquired about the woman’s next-door neighbor since her husband was standing there next to her. Then the camera pans from the wife, to her husband, to Chimney and lands on Eddie when Juliet sings the last chord of the first word “FINALLY” and Eddie raised his eyebrows. The song’s lyrics appear to be foreshadowing for Eddie regarding the way he’s still waiting for Buck to realize that he and Christopher have been waiting for him for more than four months now.  The first verse is all that’s played during the scene but the words are important because Eddie has been “waiting for so long. Oh, oh, oh. He’s been hoping and wishing and waiting and dreaming” (related posts: “Buck has to create his own lasagna recipe” and “Eddie already told Christopher that he wants to be with Buck!”).  Once he and Buck become a couple, he will be able to say that Buck is “Finally. Finally mine”.
Tumblr media
Scene: The 118 responded to a call about a collapsed walkway inside of a convention center where a Happiness Convention was in progress
Song: Don’t Worry Be Happy by Matt Alber
Lyrics: “Here's a little song I wrote. You might want to sing it note for note. Don't worry, be happy. In every life we have some trouble. But when you worry you make it double. Don't worry, be happy Don't worry, be happy now. don't worry. (Ooh, ooh ooh ooh oo-ooh ooh oo-ooh).”
The first thing to note about this song is IT IS NOT THE ORIGINAL VERSION. The original song is very upbeat and was sang by Bobby McFerrin (link to original version). Bobby’s song won the 1988 Grammy Award for song of the year.  The version of the song in this episode was sang by Matt Alber and it was very sad.  The second thing to note about this version of the song is it doesn’t include all the lyrics.  Matt only sang the first verse and he sang it twice during the scene. Bobby’s version was meant to uplift and make people happy about their lives in general but Matt’s version seems like it’s meant to make a person sad even though he’s singing about someone being happy.
Tumblr media
The song started playing right after Lev’s heart stopped beating and the heart monitor started beeping. The sad version of this song parallels with Buck’s internal struggle regarding his search for happiness.  He was clearly distraught after Lev died and he remained that way even after Eddie and Chimney invited him and Hen to breakfast.  Hen was also affected by Lev’s death but since she has more life experience than Buck does, she understood exactly what she told him when she said, “Losing someone out there is never easy” (related post: “Buck has to create his own lasagna recipe”). Her comment to Buck was important because Hen knows that while they must be compassionate and empathetic towards victims and their families while they’re in the field, they also cannot afford to lose themselves in the grief that comes after the loss of a victim. Since Buck continues to struggle emotionally, he did get lost in his own grief when Lev died because he had spent time talking to him which caused him to become sympathetic instead of empathetic.
Tumblr media
Sympathy allows a person to understand something from their own perspective while empathy allows a person to put themselves in another person’s shoes but still understand why they feel the way that they do.  When a person empathizes with someone, they understand the other person’s perspective while still maintaining their own perspective. It’s hard for anyone when they can’t save a victim but they have to do what Buck told Eddie he needed to do in 5x8 “Defend in Place” when he said, “We put it away and save the next one”.  Buck didn’t do that because he became sympathetic to Lev when he learned that Lev attended the Happiness Convention because he was searching for happiness too, just like Buck was and still is.  That caused Buck to literally see himself as a younger version of Lev and that’s why he’s filled with so much grief about it.  Hen’s comment to Buck was a parallel, a callback and hindsight to Bobby’s comment from 6x1 when he told Buck that he doesn’t have enough life experience to be interim captain.  While he does know how to be a great firefighter, meaning he knows all of the logistics associated with the job, his emotional life experiences are lacking because he hasn’t learned how to separate his own grief from the grief victims have experienced when he talks to them whenever they’re in the field. Buck asked Hen what the secret to happiness was and she told him it was a question he would have to answer for himself just like Bobby told Buck he has to answer his own question about being at ease.  The sadness that Matt exudes in the way he sings the lyrics to “Don’t worry be happy” when compared to the original version is a direct parallel to Buck’s state of mind and the way he continues to hide how unhappy he is instead of just returning to therapy so that he can deal with it like he did in 4x2 “Alone Together” (related posts: “Buck 1.5 is Emotionally Reckless” and “Eddie and Christopher are Buck’s secret to happiness”).
If the narrative continues then Buck is headed for a breakdown and while it will be very different from Eddie’s because of the different ways they express their feelings (Buck screams and cries but Eddie gets angry and isolates himself); it won’t be any less effective (related posts: “Before Buck’s Breakdown” and “Buck & Eddie: Buck Breaks”).  In previous seasons and in episode 6x1, all the songs’ lyrics were in sync with Buck and Eddie’s conversations and mannerisms; but in 6x2, the songs were used to foreshadow things that are set to happen in the near future for them as a couple and for Buck as an individual. As season 6 continues, 9-1-1 has shown the audience that they will continue to be VERY LOUD regarding their plan of making Buck and Eddie a CANON couple.

eddie munson x fem!metalhead!reader
you and eddie hate school dances, but you decide to go to the prom this year--with someone who isn't eddie. eddie does not like that, but can't say anything.
a/n: this is my first longer fic so i hope you like it. prom season is coming up so this is kinda self indulgent (as if all my fics aren't). this one is for all my weird girls out there! title from one night in the city by dio btw. :)
warnings: hurt/comfort. angsty for a while but gets fluffy. swearing. a guy being a total asshole to reader. reader wears a dress. reader and eddie both self-described as 'freak.' eddie being a jealous and insecure idiot. both are oblivious as fuck. eddie is REALLY dorky. eddie's backstory and parents--i did not read that book so i don't care if it's canon. idiots in love in the end. pretty cliche but i don't care!

Tumblr media
It’s prom night, and Eddie is sitting alone on his couch. Without you.
Usually, you guys skip every school event together in favor of watching a shitty movie and smoking half of his stock, but tonight was different. Someone asked you to the prom, and it wasn’t him.
He’s been acting off for the past two weeks, you noticed. He’s been quiet and snappy, and has been opting to jack up the stereo instead of talk on your drives home. When you asked him what was wrong, he pushed you away. So, you left him alone about it. He made it clear he wanted his space.
He didn’t even want to show up to see you in your dress. You called him last night to see if he would come over–he told you he was sick. He wasn’t fully lying, though. The thought of you going to that stupid school dance with that stupid school boy made him nauseous. It didn’t make sense to him. How did you switch your views on the prom so fast? Months ago, the two of you laughed at the idea of going. Now, you were dressed up all pretty, just like all those popular girls you claimed to hate. He had to watch that sleazy ass car pull into to the trailer park, right up next to his. He’d never admit that he watched you step out of your trailer with that guy, and wished it was him.
Being completely honest with yourself, your date isn’t even exactly your type. Todd isn’t some freak like you or your friends, but he isn’t a complete asshole either. He asked you in the hallway two weeks ago, and your instinct was to laugh at him. You laughed in his face, but he didn’t budge. He really wanted to take you to the prom, so you told him you’d go. It felt nice to be wanted. It was okay that he wasn’t some rock n’ roll dude like you’re into–it’s not like you’re marrying him. It’s just the prom.
You and Todd arrive at the Hawkins High gym, hand in sweaty hand. Pushing the anxiety clawing at your throat back down, you give him a smile as you walk to get your photo taken together. The frilly, glittery background reminds you that this place isn’t for you. Again, you push that down.
The music isn’t really your style, either, but everyone is having so much fun you feel the need to pretend. None of your friends are here, so you’re stuck. Maybe you should have pregamed, you think. Too late now. Todd pulls you onto the dance floor with a fervor you’ve never seen in him. You don’t understand how a person can have so much fun dancing to this shitty music. It’s a lot easier to get through when you pretend that Todd is Eddie, and you’re dancing to mixtapes in his room. You decide not to think about the implications of that right now. When the song ends, you offer to grab punch for the both of you. Maybe it’ll be spiked.
As you make your way back to Todd, you see him chatting with a few of his friends, and from this distance you can just begin to hear them.
“So, when do I get my twenty bucks from each of you? She’s totally ruining my reputation right now.” He laughs, and your stomach churns.
“Okay, yeah, you proved us wrong. You got her here, you danced, you win.” His friend confirms the fear that’s been looming over you like a dark cloud since Todd first asked you out.
“You at least better hold onto her long enough to get her home with you tonight, man!” Another friend cackles, and you think you’re going to vomit.
How were you stupid enough to think that he actually liked you?
God, you’re so gullible.
At least there’s nothing to lose now, you think. Walking over to him, drinks in hand, you dump both of them on his head. They splash on his stupid hair and drench his stupid suit. The music keeps playing. A few people turn to look. The room doesn’t stop for you like some trashy romcom. Everyone just keeps going.
Storming out to the parking lot, nothing can stop the burning tears from pouring down your face. You slump down against the brick wall, fabric of your dress sticking to the rough sidewalk. The warm spring air feels sticky on your cheeks. You wish you had stayed in with Eddie.
Eddie, Eddie, Eddie. You need to call Eddie. Todd drove you here, so it’s either Eddie or walk, and these heels already hurt enough. Your body feels like dead weight as you drag yourself to the payphone on the wall, punching in the number that’s engraved into your heart.
“Hey.” You greet, choked up. You’re trying to keep your composure. You know it won’t last long.
“…Hey. Havin’ fun with Mr. Popular?” There’s a bitterness to his tone. Usually he would’ve picked up on the fact that you were crying in a split second, but tonight he was too angry.
“Uhm, not really. Could you, uh,” you sniffle, blowing your thin cover, “pick me up? Like, now?”
You can almost hear his demeanor shift over the phone. A beat of silence passes.
“I’ll be right there.” He’s clearly still upset, because he hangs up the phone without saying goodbye. But his one-sided irritation can’t override the facts: he cares about you so much that he immediately hops in his van and starts speeding to the school, even faster than normal.
You sit back at the edge of the sidewalk, staring into the empty night over the parking lot. God, this is so cliché. Freak gets taken to prom as a joke; left crying outside. You know how pointless it is to cry over this guy. You don’t even care about him, to be honest. But it’s not really him you’re crying over. It’s the extensive disappointment you repeatedly put yourself through after expecting different results—it’s the fact that you haven’t stopped thinking about Eddie all night.
As you begin to probe deeper into the ethical implications of falling in love with your best friend, said best friend whips into the parking lot, tires skidding as he pulls right up to you and parks. He drives just how he lives his life—with a sense of urgency and passion you don’t see in many. His van stops diagonally in the middle of the pickup lane, and he hops out of the driver’s side door, so worried he can’t be bothered to close it before sprinting to your side.
For the past six minutes—which is Eddie’s new personal record on getting to the school from Forest Hills—his mind has been racing with every possibility of what could have happened to you tonight. Maybe Todd had another girl, or is just boring, or maybe you got totally Carrie’d and some assholes poured pig’s blood all over you. Not likely, but hey, you never know the determination of Hawkins’ resident assholes. At least if you got Carrie’d you’d look metal as fuck. That would be a good album cover. But that’s not the point. What he’s more worried about is the possibility that that dickwad touched you in any way. Just the thought is enough for him to completely light up—he got pretty close to breaking his steering wheel from how hard he was gripping it.
“What happened?” He tries to act nonchalant, but that’s something he’s never been good at.
Your head is held between your knees, looking down into nothingness. He’s staring daggers into the top of your head, and you can almost feel the fact that he wants to say ‘I told you so.’ Reluctantly, your wet eyes tilt upwards, the rest of your head following.
“Let’s just talk in the van.” He sighs.
You don’t budge. Your legs feel far too wobbly to imagine getting up right now. He has zero patience at the moment, it seems, as evidenced by the fact that he almost immediately picks you up bridal style and carries you directly to the passenger’s side of his van. He fumbles with the door handle for a second before setting you down gently in the seat. You watch him drag a frustrated hand over his face through the windshield as he walks back to his side, and although you know you didn’t do anything wrong, you’re worried that you did.
The engine roars into life, turning your seat into a makeshift massage chair. Eddie pulls out of the parking lot as quickly as he pulled in, but with a little more focus. He doesn’t turn his music on, which is a bad sign.
“It was a bet,” is all you can say, voice soft and defeated, “because, of fucking course it was.” You stare out the window, head tapping against the glass as he hits a pothole straight on.
“I told you that asshole was bad news.” His voice is laced with venom. He’s never been good at controlling his anger—especially when it has to do with you.
You stay silent. Anything you say right now will probably just piss him off more.
“Why do you—why do you always do this to yourself? You’re always finding these guys that just want to take you out to say they were able to take you out. They treat you like a fucking trophy.” He scoffs.
You look at him again, tears still silently falling. Even if you wanted to say something to that, you can’t seem to find your voice.
“I just don’t get it. You’re, like, totally perfect,” he coughs, gripping the wheel harder, “and these guys you find are total douches. You can do so much better.”
“It’s not like there’s anyone better around here,” you mumble while staring out the window, like some kid talking back to their parent for the first time.
“That’s not my point!” His yell rings out against the hum of the engine, the dull drumming being the only sound left as he hangs a sharp right turn. “I just don’t understand why you’re so eager to find some guy that you throw your morals out the door.” Eddie’s eyes dart to you for a moment before looking back at the road.
“I haven’t thrown my morals out the door.” You argue softly.
“Yes, you have! We always said we’d never suck up to the bullshit they want us to do, that we’d never let them turn us normal, and here you are at the fucking prom.”
“Eddie, it’s prom! It’s not like I fucking stabbed my mother!”
“We’re supposed to be the freaks! We’re Hellfire! We piss people off! That’s our whole thing! You can’t just—fuck—just throw that out!” He groans angrily, pulling into Forest Hills, slowing down as you near the Munson trailer.
“I’m not throwing it out.” You say, much more firmly.
“You’re throwing me out!” There it goes, the root of the entire issue. He’s always been worried that you’ll find someone cooler, someone less abrasive, someone who will make you laugh and smile more than he can. Logically, he knows that would never happen, but he can’t help his fear. He throws the van into park and slams the door as he gets out.
Eddie was eight when he met you. He’d been living with Wayne for a little over a year by the time you moved next door, but he was still struggling. His mother left him first, then his father. He missed his mom a lot, but his dad probably caused him more pain, knowing that he had the choice whether or not to stay, but Eddie wasn’t enough. Uncle Wayne was nicer to him than his father had ever been, but that can’t fix a broken kid.
Then one day, you showed up in your ratty hand-me-downs, a year and a half younger than him. He thought that girls had cooties, but you were different. You didn’t giggle or try to hide your gaze like the other girls did when they made fun of him to each other. Instead, you walked right up to him and said hi.
You were new, and you didn’t have the best clothes—he could tell you were probably going through something similar to him—so the kids at school kicked you to the curb. You were just as pretty as the other girls, he thought, if not prettier, as much as a seven-year-old can be. But that didn’t really seem to matter to them. Your lunchbox was plain, theirs had characters.
When the two of you got to be in junior high at the same time, him in the eighth grade and you in sixth, he thought for sure that you would find new, more popular friends. It was incredibly shocking to him that you’d rather hang out with some dorky boy with an ugly buzz cut who’s two grades ahead of you than the other pretty girls, but he wasn’t going to complain.
He’s lived with that fear constantly since then, always preparing himself to see you walking into school one day in some pastel sweater instead of your band shirts and battle vest. He knows you won’t, he knows you’re better than that, and he feels so guilty for always expecting the worst, but he can’t help it.
You hop out of the passenger’s side of the van, holding up the skirt of your dress like some elegant princess. But instead of some grand, ornate staircase, you’re simply walking up the concrete steps of the Munson trailer and following Eddie, who’s storming inside.
“Eddie.” You sound like a scolding mother, tears having dried up a few minutes ago, and you shut the door behind you. “Why do you think so lowly of me?” Your voice cracks with the weight of the question.
Eyes widening, Eddie never realized quite how much his thoughts could affect you until right now. “I don’t,” he says softly. “You’re the best person I know.”
“You say that, but you always think I’m gonna leave you for someone else. You’re my best fucking friend. I’m not just gonna cut you off at the drop of a hat.”
“I- I know that,” he stammers out, a little shaken.
“Do you?”
“Look, I,” he sighs, finally turning around, “I’m just scared. I’m scared that one day you’ll wake up and realize how fucking lame I am, and you won’t want to deal with me and all my bullshit anymore.”
“The world isn’t against you, Eddie.”
He opens his mouth to quip back something snarky, but he closes it as he thinks about your words again.
“You hate yourself so much that it’s beginning to rub off on me, because I’m friends with you, and if I like you, you think that surely there’s something wrong with me, too.”
He’s stunned into silence, your words stabbing him straight through the heart.
“Can you at least tell me why you were being a dick for the past few weeks?” You switch the subject slightly with a sigh.
Eddie takes a deep breath. “Because of Troy asking you to prom.”
“Todd.”
“Yeah, whatever. He was my problem.”
“Why were you mad at me for that, though?”
“I knew he was gonna hurt you.”
“You didn’t say anything about that, though. You just said he was an ass once and then pushed me away for two straight weeks.”
Standing in the middle of the dark trailer, Eddie is presented with two options: confess his lifelong, undying love for you, or don’t. He knows that the only good and honest explanation he can give you involves a love confession, and he hates lying to you. But one thing trumps the fact that he hates lying to you, and it’s that Eddie is a complete and utter pussy.
Eddie is, and always has been, a pussy. In middle school, you acted as his bodyguard—self-appointed, and very passionate—which only made him get bullied worse. You didn’t care. You’d defend him until the end of time. You’d take a hundred tugs to your ponytail or face-plants in the lunchroom so that he wouldn’t have to. You weren’t very loud or talkative in school, until it came to defending Eddie.
To Eddie, you’re this glowing beacon of light and hope in his life. Everything good comes from you. And if he confesses his feelings to you, and you don’t feel the same, that pillar comes crashing down.
But…what if? What if you did feel the same? That’s stupid, he thinks. Clearly you don’t, because otherwise you wouldn’t have gone to prom with another guy. And he’s sure you already know about his big, fat crush, and you’re choosing to act like you don’t notice.
“I’m sorry.” You can tell he’s nervous by the way he’s fingering riffs on the side of his thigh.
“You always get so upset when I talk to guys. It’s not like there can be only one guy in my life.”
“I know that, it’s just–” This is going to be the worst decision he’s ever made, and he knows it, but he can’t stop himself. “--I’m jealous, okay?”
“Obviously you’re fucking jealous, dickweed.” As you call him your favorite nickname, the intent behind his words reaches you, and your cheeks begin to heat up. “…Wait.”
“Have you seriously not picked up on this yet?” Eddie is genuinely surprised at your reaction. “You—you’re perfect, you know that? You’re the coolest person I’ve ever met, and I don’t know how you do it.” His voice is softer than normal.
“Yeah, but—like, are you serious?” You ask.
“I wouldn’t joke about this. I’ve been, like, totally into you forever. I’m surprised Gareth or Jeff didn’t say anything to you.”
“They did a while ago, but I thought they were messing with me.”
“Okay, I honestly can’t blame you for that.”
A moment passes in silence, and you think about how to respond.
“You know, I didn’t really want to go with Todd.”
“What? Why did you then?”
“I hoped that you would ask me,” you admit, eyes drifting to your feet, “but it was kind of a stupid thing to expect.”
His jaw goes slack as he hears you speak.
“I guess that I’ve just kinda had this pipe dream where we’d go to prom together, and I’d be able to dress up all pretty, and we could dance together.” You avoid his gaze, until you hear him scurrying down the hallway.
He emerges back out with his stereo in one hand and a cassette in the other, scrambling to place it down on the kitchen table and shoving the tape inside. He immediately skips to the song he has in mind. The familiar sound of Tommy Lee’s piano starts from beside you, and before you can figure out what’s happening, he’s offering his hand to you.
“May I have this dance?”
A smile grows on your face. “God, you’re such a fucking dork.” Your insult doesn’t come without placing your hand in his. He’s bright red, and he’s never slow danced in his life.
Mötley Crüe’s Home Sweet Home is interrupted occasionally by the sound of feet stepping on feet and the subsequent ow!’s that follow, as well as the flustered giggling of two idiots in love.
Eddie pulls you a little closer, his hands firmly planted on your waist. “You look really beautiful tonight,” he murmurs, “sorry I didn’t tell you sooner.”
He feels extremely underdressed compared to you, him in his favorite torn up pair of black jeans and an Exodus muscle tee, and you in your stunningly gorgeous dress, looking prettier than any princess he could ever imagine.
“Thank you,” you mumble back, flustered, “you don’t look too—fuck!—too bad yourself, you know.” A playful giggle comes with your words, and a huge grin grows on Eddie’s face.
“Yeah?” He teases, looking right in your eyes.
“Yeah.”
“Can I kiss you?”
“I thought you’d never ask,” you giggle, staring right back.
Leaning in, he lets out a nervous laugh before pressing his lips to yours. It’s not some magical explosion of energy that cures all your problems and fixes world hunger; but his lips are soft and warm, and he tastes like weed, gummy worms and a hint of shitty beer, and it feels right.
You kiss him a few more times before the song ends, all quick and chaste but completely full of love. Pulling you along with him, not wanting to let go, he pauses the tape and the trailer goes quiet again.
“Was I better at that than Troy?”
“Todd.”
“Point still stands, fuckface.”
Eddie drags you down the hall to his bedroom, the familiar ambiance warming you like a comforting blanket. Jumping onto the bed with a plop, the boy pats beside him invitingly.
“Can I change first?” You ask, ecstasy of the moment wearing off, allowing you to remember how itchy this damn dress is.
“‘Course. Your shirt is clean if you want it.” He calls it your shirt, but it was his at one point. The old Metallica tee used to be his favorite one, too, which meant it got a lot of wear and tear. But then you started wearing it at sleepovers, and it quickly became your shirt. Eddie didn’t like to wash it afterward because it smelled like you. He always felt like a creep for that.
Your hand tries its best to wrap around and pull the impossibly tiny zipper down, but it doesn’t want to budge. Eddie, watching you as intently as ever, quickly notices and jumps up to help you. His fingers move to your waist, soft and nimble, and gently undo the zipper for you. You let your dress fall to the ground, and he looks away, flustered. It’s not like he hasn’t seen you in your underwear before, but now it feels a lot more serious.
Quickly throwing on the hole-filled Metallica shirt and a clean pair of his boxers, both of you hop back into his bed. You’ve shared plenty of nights here before, but once again, now it feels different. You sense that it will become a common theme for your life in the near future. His hands snake back around your waist and pull you next to him, and you allow your head to rest against his chest.
“So… does this mean you’re, like, my girlfriend now, or what?” A goofy smirk is plastered across his face as he asks.
You try to playfully shove him off of you, to no avail. “Are you seriously fucking asking me that?” You’re trying so hard to act angry, but your giggles give you away.
“Yes, yes it does.” You seal it with a kiss. Then one on his cheek, and the other, and his forehead, and the tip of his nose.

Soooooo
I wasn't too far off with this post
But because we have this
Tumblr media
And we know Buck is jealous of Eddie & Tommy bonding
And we have this
Tumblr media
and @exolve pointing out the shoe is Eddie's here...
Buck totally body checked Eddie on purpose and he got hurt
(still think he might hit his head cause he looks ok in the loft stills but he might bleed and they think it might be something serious first or his foot/leg cause we can't see them)
So this
Tumblr media
is not only Eddie scolding him about spiralling and retreating cause he feels guilty and telling him that he's not mad and that they're ok
but
It's also Eddie telling him that nothing and no one will come between them and change their relationship
And this
Tumblr media
is where Eddie pulls him into a hug
But I'm still hoping this whole thing will lead to the
oh
OH
moment
Cause someone has to be like... But WHY are you so angry about it
Wouldn't it be delicious if Tommy talked to him and be like...
Hey man, I won't come between you two, I can see how much he... means to you
But maybe... Talk to him about it?
And Buck first is like...!??????
And then Tommy is like
You know you're in love with your best friend, right? Tell me you know that... !???
And that's how we still can get
✨bi (realization) panic✨
And just as a lil reminder some lyrics of the song bewitched, bothered and bewildered
Men are not a new sensation I've done pretty well I think But this half-pint imitation Put me on the blink
I'm wild again, beguiled again A simpering, whimpering child again
He can laugh, but I love it Although the laugh's on me
I'll sing to him, each spring to him And long for the day when I'll cling to him Bewitched, bothered, and bewildered am I
Love's the same old sad sensation Lately I've not slept a wink Since this half-pint imitation Put me on the blink
In conclusion
Buddie canon
with Tommy as the catalyst for Buck to realize his feelings for Eddie 😁

Note
What is your opinion about the vertigo poster that Tim posted? People are saying that is a confirmation of Buck being in love with Eddie…
Im really tired about all the “will they, won’t they” and I love Lou and Tommy/Buck relationship, do you think Lou will come back for season 8 or are you of the opinion that they’ll break up on the finale?
Idk the meaning of Vertigo(tell me). But the things I know:
People was talking about "this detail"(I can name like 5 right now without thinking much) says what buddie will happen. But it never happened
Ryan literally called Eddie HETEROSEXUAL. which means now no one sees him as queer and nothing like that will happen. Especially while he still deals with Shannon and her ghost, if ever. All the talks "but Tommy/Eddie was in plan means Eddie is queer" miss the point it was on the same stage of planning as Maddie/Eddie before 2x1. They had idea, they looked at their story, talked with actors and said "no, It's not what we will do" and dropped it. So now people need to understand that in canon creators see Eddie as hetero. Ryan sees him as hetero and Tim really respects and listens to opinion of his actors about their characters (I still hc Eddie demi btw, but people need to understand hc and canon is different things and I respect Ryan's opinion)
Ryan also said it was important for him and Oliver to play how queer man comes out to his straight friend and nothing between them change. It was important for him to play it to the situation he had with his close friend to show that men can stay close as before even if one of them comes out
Lou said bucktommy are thriving during what seem like 7x9/10 shooting
Tim called bucktommy rom-com and rom-com couple stays happy together in finale
Oliver is excited about exploring bucktommy's relationship and said it exciting to work with Lou and he hopes to get to know him
Both Ryan and Oliver told that they want to show that men can be close and vulnerable how buddie are without any feelings involved
Oliver said he doesn't want the situation where queer guy comes out and it means he's in love with his best friend
Lou till yesterday was not active in cameo which means he more likely was shooting and they kept it secret bc it can be spoiling. I can't see Buck's good and exciting coming out story, when he's so smitten, end with break up in the finale
Also, bucktommy kissed right after Bobby's wedding speech, right after madney's kiss with the love song which soooooo deep connected to madney's love story still playing. They could drop the music, not show the kiss, but they did. To show the point that Buck and Tommy are falling for each other step by step. And Tommy is the one calling Buck 'Evan' and it was confirmed important(and that Lou was instructed not to call him Buck) in they way that Buck loves how Tommy calls him that and to point out how different Tommy is. Which means that they plan to leave Tommy as long term. At least try to and gather reaction from ALL the fans, not just buddie fans
Also. It's season 7. And all the seasons Buck tries to find stability in love life, settle down. And it starts to get boring and painful to see how 911 use him to bad love stories and arcs. The last season started with him trying to prove he can be good captain eventually and Bobby tells him he needs to gather some more experience and settle down at ease, before he will be ready. And it's actually time for Buck to settle down. And Tommy can be it. Person who likes him, who respects him, who runs to him, who chooses him. Buck can settle down with Tommy and be finally at ease with love and look at what else life has for him. New hobbies, new possibilities in job(not even become a captain, but for example lieutenant as somehow our show doesn't have it, they might think about adding it. Or become mechanic. Or something), new friends even
So, I'm pretty positive this poster means nothing more than Tim appreciated the, as I know fan's work(correct me if I'm wrong), and Bucktommy and Lou are here to stay and people should get use to it

Everyone who watches 911 is entitled to have their opinions on the show. Good, bad, or indifferent. This goes the same for Buddie. But don't assume you can make posts talking about how "willfully delusional" you think people in your own fandom are simply because we're talking our cues from the show (and the people involved in it) and seeing the signs of Buddie canon without any push back.
I‘ve been watching this show for years and in my opinion we have never been closer to Buddie canon than we are now. This isn’t just fans seeing what we want to see this is everything that’s gone on with the show, it's creators, and cast since the promo for s7 started.
Before s7 even started Ryan and Oliver were doing tons of press together. There was more talk of Buddie than had ever been previously. We had Ryan and Oliver talking at the s7 premiere about how Buddie's relationship was changing and how they were going to be getting even closer.
During s7 we had more Buddie scenes than we had in recent seasons and not just like scenes of them working together but scenes that cemented their relationship and showed them becoming even closer than they'd been. Scenes like Eddie relying on Buck to help with Chris (multiple times during the season). Scenes like Buck talking about how worried he was about Eddie during the Kim stuff.
It's even more clear that Buddie canon is where things are headed when you look at how Tim chose to handle B/T vs Buddie in s7. If Tim was planning on making B/T a long term ship there were so so many times he could have done more to develop them and he didn't instead the development was put into Buddie.
704 was not about Buck trying to get T*mmy's attention it was about Buck having these big intense emotions he didn't know how to deal with or really understand (because they were about his best friend) and misplacing them onto T*mmy. If Buddie wasn't a part of the plan I don't believe Tim would have ever even included Eddie in that episode especially not the way he did. It would seriously be one of the stupidest moves the show could make. They know how much of their audience ships Buddie, hell people who don't even watch the show talk about Buddie.
Plus it's obvious that Buddie's karaoke scene in 706 was supposed to be a parallel to Maddie and Chim starting to realize their feelings for one another in 208 (when they did karaoke). But the karaoke scene was pulled once they were renewed for s8 when they likely decided to pause on Buddie happening and Eddie coming out until they had more time. Why else would they have them singing a karaoke duet to a love song (in Madney's wedding episode no less) if Buddie canon was never going to happen?
Then you had the very domestic scene in 707 with Buck commenting on Eddie's cologne and throwing food into his mouth. And zero mention of T*mmy in the entire episode. Then in 709 you had Buck looking at Eddie (not T*mmy) when he got his award. In 710 it was Eddie by Buck's side the whole time Bobby was at the hospital and the only scene B/T got was that dinner scene which didn't do one single thing to further develop that relationship.
Back to the bts of it all. Oliver liked and commented on Buddie stuff throughout s7. He also posted Ryan often on his stories. Most importantly he posted a pic of him and Ryan on the basketball court after the B/T kiss in 704. If I remember correctly after the B/T dinner scene in 710 he also posted something to do with Buddie too.
You also had Oliver saying in interviews that he sees what Buddie fans sees and we're not wrong. He also talked about Buddie as how it could work if it happens. Ryan also talked about Buddie happening and said it was baby steps for them to get there. Ryan also said in one interview (can't remember the exact wording) but it was something about who should lead like who should come out first and it was decided it was going to be Buck. But the way he worded it was very clear that both of them are supposed to come out not just one. Lou also talked about how it was originally going to be Eddie getting the queer storyline (with T*mmy) and instead they decided on it being Buck. Lou also talked early on about Buddie and B/T as T*mmy being someone that is basically getting Buck ready for Buddie.
I firmly believe that Oliver would not be interacting with Buddie stuff nor talking about Buddie as much as he has in interviews if he knew Buddie was never going to happen. He's said point blank before he stopped talking about Buddie in the past because he didn't want the fans to feel led on. I think this is part of why he hasn't really interacted with B/T shippers or anything much to do with that ship. He knows it's not meant to last and he doesn't want those fans to feel like he's lying to them.
I know people look at Ryan calling Eddie heterosexual during some of his s7 interviews as a sign that Buddie isn't going to happen but as soon as s7 was over and he had a couple of interviews he started using gender neutral phrasing and saying things like "partner". There was also an interview where he talked about how Buck is basically taking Shannon's place.
Now as we've started to get promo stuff for s8 a lot of the social media stuff has been revolving around Ryan and Oliver with it leaning more towards Ryan. This is similar to how it was for s7 only things were leaning more towards Oliver because of everything that took place with Buck. It's clear that Eddie is going to have a big storyline this season and it can't just be that he's missing Chris or going back to religion.
ABC and Tim know how popular Buddie is and they know how huge it will be for the show and their network to have Buddie go canon. It's why they're handling this very carefully. Honestly I don't think they would have even had Buck come out if they weren't at least considering Buddie because they would have known that the fans yelling for Buddie would only get louder once one of them was confirmed queer. And like I said earlier if they had no intention of Buddie they would have at the least been distancing Buck and Eddie and certainly wouldn't have made Buck's entire coming out episode all about him.
They also would have told the actors to limit talking about Buddie in interviews and the journalists wouldn't have been allowed to ask about Buddie. If you look back at previous seasons and the kind of interviews Ryan and Oliver had Buddie was rarely if ever talked about. That's because Fox did not want it to happen and networks can control what is talked about in official interviews. There's a reason Buddie was talked about so much during the s7 interviews. It's the same reason B/T has barely been talked about even though it should have been a much bigger deal being Buck's first relationship with a guy.
Oh also there was the person on twitter who claimed to have inside info for the show and proved that at different times during s7 with how they seemed to know stuff long before the episodes would air. They said that people behind the scenes had been trying to have Eddie come out in s5 and again in s7 it just hasn't worked out yet. This also fits with what Oliver said that Buck was originally supposed to come out in s4. This fits too with the shooting storyline and the panic attacks early on in s5. Buck would have had his bi awakening in s4 and maybe his feelings realization after the shooting. This would lead to Eddie having his queer awakening during the whole Ana storyline in s5. But Fox shut all of that down.
My point in all of this is that there's a lot of evidence to back up why Buddie fans are so sure about Buddie canon this time. More so than any other season. It's not just us seeing the show through our buddie tinted glasses. It's the most logical outcome at this point. Sure we could all be wrong and the show could leave us heartbroken but at the same time it's still fun to be excited and hopeful about the show.
Oh and one more thing. I get it if you don't like Eddie's mustache, we all have things we find attractive or don't for whatever reason. But continually comparing Eddie, a Mexican man who many lgbtq people relate to and see as queer coded, to characters you describe as "violent and abusive" or a "corrupt cop" just feels all kinds of wrong to me.
Again like I already stated above Buddie canon and Eddie being queer might not happen but there is plenty of evidence to back up why people see Eddie as a queer character. In some ways he's been far more queer coded than even Buck has been. To get upset at people for seeing the mustache as another sign of queer coding makes zero sense to me. You can think it looks unattractive but mustaches have a long history of symbolism in queer men's culture. This isn't just about thinking it looks like Freddie Mercury it's that mustaches (especially ones that look like Eddie's this season) have often by used by queer men as a signifier of their sexuality to other queer men. So the idea that the show is using it as an early sign to the audience that that's where they're taking his character isn't totally out of the realm of possibility.
You are free to disregard all of the facts I just pointed out. You are free to see the show how you want. But you're not free to insult the people in your own fandom and then act surprised when people don't want to follow you or even go so far as to block you because they're tired of the negativity. I mean we get enough of that from B*mmy stans we don't need it in our own fandom too.
If the fandom and the show is causing you to be unhappy it might be time to consider taking a break.

just remembered photograph by ed sheeran is canonically connected to buddie. like every other music moment with buddie is fun and all but they're not truly intentional, just a little interaction thrown into the middle of a wider unrelated moment. but for this one not only does the song become the focal point of the scene at the end so you're hearing every single lyric, but they also specifically line up their actions to the lyrics ("wait for me to come home" buck sitting at the table frozen and eddie knocking and barging in with a kid and forgiveness). also, even the choice to have photograph in the episode at all, when the only ones who have a storyline about people they love are buck eddie and christopher (everyone else is about strangers they're helping, which is equally important but less personal) and the lyrics being "loving can hurt sometimes, but it's the only thing that I know" and "if you hurt me, that's okay baby only words bleed" and all the ways this arc could've ended with something irreparably broken between them but it didn't because they loved each other too much to let it...good lord it's been 4 years and there's no getting over it

Ugh, please let this be what they're actually doing. It makes so much sense and I would love to watch it.
Q. Why do you think the next clip will feature Buck? Is there usually a strategy to a show releasing cut scenes?
A. Oh there's definitely a strategy to choosing the scenes to release. Usually it ends up being scenes that will be at least partially relevant for upcoming episodes/storylines but weren't necessarily relevant to previous episodes. The reason I believe the next clip will feature Buck is because making the first two clips a Tommy scene and then an Eddie scene was definitely a deliberate choice. Anytime an episode last season featured the 3 of them the promo pics were always staged as having Eddie in between Tommy and Buck. The lone exception was the medal ceremony pics which had Buck in between Eddie and Tommy. But the 3 were always presented as a triangle. That's clearly an intentional thing on the show's part. I don't see them changing that when it comes to releasing the deleted scenes. The context of the two clips is also very telling, especially the Eddie/Christopher scene.
The Tommy scene is easy. It was standard issue plot device dialogue. Tommy's view of Evan is very surface level focused. His priority is their physical relationship, which doesn't require any kind of emotional connection (example: not calling him Buck). Every line of dialogue he had following 7x4 stuck to that theme, including the deleted scene. However, the Eddie/Christopher scene was entirely about emotional connection, and is exactly why I think the next scene they release will be bachelor party related. Eddie's story about his and Shannon's first meeting focusing on the fact that she was the one who did most of the talking, while he was the one who wanted to listen to her talk, was significant for a couple of reasons. One reason is it shows a quality that Eddie clearly finds attractive in a partner. He likes to listen to his person talk. The other significant thing was the pronoun change. When Eddie was talking about the past he said "she", the moment the conversation turned towards the future he said "they/them". That was deliberate. In the timeline of the show this scene takes place a little while after the bachelor party, making the karaoke song choice all the more telling. Especially if Eddie is the one who chose the song. Their karaoke song was 'What I Like About You'. The chorus of that song, meaning the most repeated lines of the song, are:
"Keep on whispering in my ear"
"Tell me all the things that I wanna hear"
'Cause it's true (that's what I like)"
"That's what I like about you (that's what I like)"
Eddie likes to listen to his person talk. It is canon that Eddie likes to listen to Buck talk. Tons of canon scenes of Eddie looking fondly at Buck when he goes on one of his rambles. There is a scene of Buck talking into Eddie's ear at the bachelor party. Eddie switched pronouns because he started the conversation talking about Shannon but he ended the conversation talking about Buck, whether he's actually aware of that yet or not remains to be seen. It's why Ryan has made a point of comparing Shannon and Buck during his interviews. It's why the show made a point of comparing the two of them. That's what they're doing. For Eddie it doesn't matter that Shannon was female and Buck is male. For Eddie it's about how those two people, and only those two people, make him feel. It's why the instant family set up with Anna and Marisol made him spiral, but why that same setup with Buck doesn't make him spiral. He sees Buck the same way he saw Shannon. Like Ryan said Eddie romanticizes his history with Shannon but how he felt when he was around her , at least in the beginning, is very real ,and Buck has been the only other person to make Eddie feel like that. I don't think he will label himself. I absolutely think he's demi, but I think the story the show is telling is that for Eddie it's about the emotional connection he has only ever had for two people. It just so happens that one was female and one is male.
The deleted clips are about how differently Tommy and Eddie see Evan/Buck, and relationships in general. And how that very much sets up the story of Eddie and Buck that season 8 will tell. At least this is what I think they're doing. This is what it looks like they're doing.
Nonny I fully agree with you. Thank you for dropping this in my inbox!
Thank you Ali for sharing your POV and insight into this topic. It's fascinating how your mind works. :) I read this and all of it makes perfect sense. I really really really hope that this is what they are doing as well.
We'll just have to wait for the next deleted scene to drop to see whether or not this is the route they are taking. *crosses fingers*
IMPORTANT! Please don't repost this ask and/or a link that leads straight to my Tumblr account on Twitter or any other social media. Thank you!
Heads up! For anyone who is giving me the shifty eyes for reposting Ali's updates instead of reblogging. Read this.

Okay, so, I'm fully aware of the platform I accidentally created with the whole network, and I love being the place people come for information and a good laugh about the madness. But I am a person. I am also only one person. I get a whole lot of asks in a day, I try to answer as many as I can but sometimes my life gets in the way and sometimes the things I'm getting kill my vibe and make me less inclined to sit through my inbox for hours. I filter as much as I can, sometimes the sheer volume of asks filter things too. I'm just the messenger. I'm not gonna let you use me to rage bait because I'm the one who takes the heat for it. Is my name attached to the asks. I don't condone with what's been happening, the blogs who take things too far or whoever it was who wrote that fic. I don't know who wrote it, if it was an angry buddie shipper or a disturbed bucktommy one or someone outside of the mess who wants to have fun putting us against each other, but I know that I don't want anything to do with that individual or individuals. But to act like they somehow speak for the whole buddie fandom is messed up. To expect every buddie fan to public denounce them is messed up. Unfortunately, there has always been fucked up fics posted to ao3. Are we gonna chase down everyone who wrote fics where Chim is abusive towards Maddie, or where Eddie is Buck's Doug, or the very disturbing Ana bashing fics that include shit ranging from her kidnapping Chris to her raping Buck too then? We've seen a bt shipper say that Eddie should kill himself because Ryan's experience would make the scene realistic, but I never expected anyone to apologize for her behavior because I know she's not the norm and she's the only one responsible for the shit she says. No one here speaks for anyone. But dissecting why a character acts the way he does when he has a canon past of bigotry does not give anyone the right to say that the only reason something disturbing is happening is because I said something mean about Tommy. That fic is fucked up. But the only person responsible for it is whoever wrote it. If I knew who that was, trust me, I would be putting them on blast, but I don't. Some of you need to get off your high horse. No one can control fandom, and a witch hunt just because someone found a burner account that may or may not be responsible for shit and attacking everyone because they are being followed by them is not it. It's not gonna solve anything. To try and make anyone who said something negative about Tommy responsible is not it. I'm a real person. I know y'all only see a hockey player's picture and a 5sos song url, but I'm a person. I am not a newspaper and I'm also not the spokesperson for the buddie fandom who needs to make a statement about these awful things happening. I'm not the one creating the unsafe space. My shit is properly tagged, I stay in my blog, I don't go chasing people I don't agree with just to pick a fight. But y'all do love dragging me into shit I have nothing to do with. What happened is fucked but can we stop blaming the whole fandom for the actions of a very small portion of it?

BiAsBuck’s ficrec Fridays
Happy Friday everyone! What a couple of weeks huh? We're so back etc. I've still not recovered from the blooper and bts blessings. But I'm back again with another round of the fic I've been reading so far this month! You can find previous rec lists here.
9 August 2024
i'm here with the door wide open by @eddiebabygirldiaz oh my god the YEARNING in this fic. I actually wailed when I got to the end. Eddie POV, he's struggling with the silence with Chris gone, and the absence of the life and noise that he's so used to in his home. Through it all, Buck is there, sweet, supportive, vibrant and loud in his presence. Eddie tentatively comes to listen to what's not being said out loud. I absolutely adored the delicate hand held out to all the relationships here, and the beautiful imagery in the writing. But mostly the intimacy which struck me so deeply. Love is indeed stored in the kitchen. Just gorgeous.
in love with every song you've ever heard by @timeshareindestin I'm so glad I saw the beautiful art of hard of hearing Buck and his firetruck red hearing aids, because it led me to read this wonderful fic, in which he grapples with the disability he suppressed as a child, and realises that the family he craves has been there for him all along. This is an emotional read, and I particularly loved the flashbacks to his childhood and Maddie's support, as well as the realisation that he can be brave and vouch for himself with people fighting his corner.
Operation: Keep Eddie Diaz Busy and Annoyed by @gigi-gigi 'the one where Buck forces Eddie to keep busy while Chris is gone, but ends up catching a bad case of The Feelings in the middle of Eddie learning to love pickling things to irritate Chim and charming old ladies through square dancing.' THE FLIRTING. Dear god the flirting. Just delightful.
where the tumbleweeds blow by @tallahasseemp3 a buddie road trip fic! In which Eddie goes home to Texas. Buck follows. Along the way, they find each other. The perfect thing to read after the deleted Christopher and Eddie scene, with them learning to find their feet with each other whilst Eddie also learns to trust himself with Buck, and establish boundaries and a new understanding with his own parents. Such great family dynamic examination.
free mustache rides by @standback ALL HAIL MOUSTACHEDDIE SMUT!! 'Eddie comes back after two weeks in Texas with a) Christopher, b) a tan, and c) a mustache.' In which Eddie is flirtatious and a bit smug about the effect he's having, whilst Buck is entirely mesmerised, and needs to sit on his face about it. Funny and hot.
Safe for Work by @911-alsaurus continuing with the funny and hot theme, Al's specialty, in which touch starved Buck looks for some way to alleviate his cravings, and 'Eddie offers to be Buck's official head scratcher, shoulder massager, and general tactile needs provider. It's a really normal thing for friends to do. Surely.' Featuring an excellent Chim cameo.
Paint Me in Neon and Make Me Glow by @letmetellyouaboutmyfeels HELLO exhibitionist streak Buck 5+1 hot as hell buck tommy fic. Truly Lincoln writes their dynamic in such a fun way, I love how tongue in cheek teasing Tommy is and how playful and intrigued Buck is here, whilst being extremely turned on. Kink exploration that ups the ante with each new tentative discovery. There's no room to be shy!
Every Day You’ll Still Show Up by @bluflamingo was a really nicely characterised buck tommy fic, an emotional oneshot in which they're early days boyfriends set close to S7 canon, learning to comfort each other when Buck returns after a bad call. There was a gentleness to this that I could genuinely see slotting into the show, and I really liked that it was a regular call out that went wrong rather than a massive catastrophe.
PS - once again sending out the signal to ask if you have any henren authors/fic recs I should check out PLEASE let me know! Have you SEEN S8 Hen's arms in those tank tops? Dear lord. Help a lesbian out?

Weekly Recap | March 11th-17th 2024
Tumblr media
That premiere guys!!!!! Was so good!!!!! I'm so excited to be FINALLY be a part of the fandom while the show is actually airing! 😃 Can't wait to read all the amazing fics that are gonna be spawned from season 7!
Speaking of that, I would like to encourage everyone to use the relevant Ao3 tags when writing fics based on S7 content! Not everyone can watch the episodes as they air, so tags are really essential for people who don't want to get spoiled! (I could even make a separate post about it? a sort-of "how to tag" post?). In case you want to block some tumblr tags, my main tags for S7 are #911 season 7, #911 on abc, or #911 spoilers.
(Posting this one day early cause I don't feel like waiting until tomorrow! Enjoy! 😆)
Complete
i find peace in your smile by goforeddie/@iltrpls (A/B/O AU | 1K | General): They’ve been courting for a few months now. It’s agonizingly slow, but it’s still the best time they’ve ever had. You might think that after six years of walking on eggshells around each other, half a decade of “will-they-won’t-they” they wouldn’t be taking such a slow time with courting, but it's precisely everything that they’ve been through that makes them appreciate things a little better.
Birthday Flowers by Tizniz/ @tizniz (Pre-Buddie | 2K | General): OR: Buck gets Eddie flowers for his birthday.
🔥 if i need to rearrange my particles — i will for you. by dylaesthetics (Post-S6, Identity Porn | 45K | Teen): OR Buck joins a support app for first responders and matches with a firefighter who has PTSD and a kid who likes giraffes, apparently.
Lime Jell-O by rainbow_nerds/ @rainbow-nerdss (S7E01: Abandon 'Ships | 3K | Teen): Eddie Diaz didn't panic. Or, well... Maybe he did. Sometimes. But he was working on it.

He thinks about it, sometimes, his first shift at the 118—he doesn’t think either of them quite knew how much they’d meant it when they’d promised to have each other’s backs. He definitely hadn’t known, then, that he’d wake up one day and wonder why Buck isn’t in his bed. Because that’s what’s missing. He has a vague memory of falling asleep with his head resting against Buck’s shoulder, their legs tangled together.

You expect me to get it up twice?” “Yes,” Buck says, like it’s a given, like duh. “I could get you to do it right now.” The entire world pauses, and Eddie actually feels it, the bolt of arousal slinking down his spine all the way to his toes. He wets his lips. “Right now?”

Buck & Eddie: CANON Songs of Their Love Story continues…6x9”
Tumblr media
Their LOVE story is continuing to be told in CANON by the songs included in their scenes and 6x9 “Red Flag” included only one song that pertained to their story.  The links to previous posts have been included below:
Seasons 2-5
6x1 Let the Games Begin
6x2 Crash and Learn
6x4 Animal Instincts
After the hiatus, separate posts for each episode will be uploaded weekly if there are any songs that pertain to their story included in that week’s episode.
There was 1 song in 6x9 that related to Buck and Eddie’s love story.
6x9 “Red Flag”
Scene: Buck and Eddie simultaneously walked away from the front doors of two separate houses that were next door to each other
Song: Hand Clap by Fitz and the Tantrums
Lyrics: “I want your sex and your affection, When they’re holdin’ you close (Ha, ha, ha) Cause I can make your hands clap”
The song starts when Bobby says, “Ok everybody. Time to go door to door”. The show has done this in the past like they did in 3x1 “Kids Today” when Eddie ran up to hug Buck during his welcome back party and the lyrics in the song that was playing were “Come and get your love”. Eddie was going to get his love, Buck and that’s why that specific lyric was played when he ran to meet Buck. Similarly, there’s a specific portion of the Hand Clap song that pertains to Buck and Eddie’s relationship.  The lyric above played when both Eddie and Buck simultaneously walked away from the front doors of two separate houses but Buck was already looking at Eddie before Eddie turned his head to look at Buck.  Based on the words included in the lyric that played during their scene, Buck and Eddie want each other’s sex and affection while they hold each other close.  It also appears to be a callback to 3x9 “Fallout” when Buck and Eddie were flirting with each other in Buck’s kitchen because Buck started flirting when he said, “I can still take you” and he continued it with an invitation when he said, “You want to go for the title?”  Eddie nodded his head in agreement to Buck’s invitation while he was taking a sip of his beer (related post Kitchen Scene).

In previous seasons and in episode 6x1, all the songs’ lyrics were in sync with Buck and Eddie’s conversations and mannerisms; but the song in 6x9 is similar to those that were included in 6x2 and 6x4 because it was used to foreshadow things that are set to happen in the future between them once they become a couple. When season 6B resumes in March 2023, after the hiatus and if the narrative continues, it’s likely that 9-1-1 will continue to be VERY LOUD regarding their plan of making Buck and Eddie a CANON couple.

i’m actually so serious that the stills that were released today for next weeks episode have me thinking so many thoughts that I have been unable to complete my work today.
next episode is named after a love song. the only stills that they released a week ahead of the episode are of buck and eddie in soft, romantic lighting in box apartment. ON TOP OF allllllll the interviews that ryan is doing and basically saying everything except the words “buddie canon”
optimistically, im hoping that this means they’re listening to the audiences and using this opportunity as a way to turn buddie romantic. pessimistically, at worst ABC knows exactly what they are doing and they are using their queer audiences to promote the show because they know what kind of fandom is attached to 911
possibly ignorantly, im leaning towards optimism here, because ABC is usually pretty good about listening to audiences. that doesn’t mean that buddie will have a problem-free relationship by any means (if it goes canon) but they at least try to harness the chemistry that actors have and use it as a tool for romantic storytelling.
i’m cautiously excited, fingers crossed im not wrong

So...
Tumblr media
This happened.
WHY THIS IS ABOUT BUDDIE, AN EXPLANATION BY ME <3;
So, this is the title episode 4, which we all know is the 100th episode and is confirmed to be the episode that contains all the basketball stuff that we've been seeing, so it's definitely about Buck, Eddie and Chris.
The title "Buck, Bothered and Bewildered" is almost definitely a play on words to the song "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered."
So, the song is actually from a musical called Pal Joey. It was made in the 1940s, the plot isn't really relevant, what's important is specifically what this song is about.
Basically, it's about a seasoned adult confunded by the turbulence of new love. In the song, she sings about how bewildered she is about her new love and how "men are not a new sensation" she's well experienced in love and she knows it, but her new lover is different somehow;
"I’m wild again!
Beguiled again!
A simpering, whimpering child again!
Bewitched, bothered and bewildered am I."
It's a good song to use for Buck's love life, especially in regards to how far he's come since Buck.1.0
And sure, it could be about Natalia, but we know that this episode is about Buck and his relationship with Eddie.
Conclusion; Buddie is canon, thank you tim minear 🫶

Note
the edits once they go canon are going to be next level
(i also admittedly can’t wait to be petty too and comment on every single one of them going “look at this beautiful CANON ship” since apparently being canon is the only thing that makes a ship valid /j🤭🤭)
Our range🤩
we can be sobbing over edits while being petty 😭😭
No fr tho the minute gay Eddie or buddie are canon I’m giggling and making jokes like no tomorrow
I may not have the talent to make edits or fics or anything but I am a court jester at heart so I shall be making many many jokes
Back to the edits yesss I will personally be requiring:
My love mine all mine
Lover you shouldve come over (personally one of my ideal songs if the buddie confession/kiss required a soundtrack)
Paper rings
Lover
The alchemy
He could never love you (SHUT UP SHUT UP I GOTTA GO MAKE A POST OR ANNOY MY FIC WRITING FRIENDS ABOUT THIS ONE)
Until I found you (cos of the how could we ever just be friends)
We’re in love (boygenius l because it’s so underrrated and so unbelievably a buddie song - “we’re not swapping blood” “And I told you of your past lives, every man you've ever been It wasn't flattering But you listened like it mattered” “would you still love me if it turns out I’m insane I know what you’ll say but it helps to hear you say it anyway” “And I'll be feeling lonely So I'll walk to karaoke” “Who looks like hell and asks for help And if you do, I'll know it's you” “I can't imagine you without the same smile in your eyes There is something about you That I will always recognize And if you don't remember I will try to remind you”
Keep me warm - Ida Marie (also one of my buddie ideal soundtracks and also criminally underrated as a buddie song)
Anything from hozier’s discography that man can scream into the mic and it’d be the most romantic shit you’ve ever heard
Crack option: my best friend’s hot by the dollyrots (yes this was also my crack karaoke guess but listen I need this song to play around buck when in proximity to Eddie- whatta man scene 2.0 if you may)
Truly truly - grant Lee buffalo
So highschool - listen Eddie officially does know how to ball and you can’t tell me walking encylopedia has full ass bookshelves in the loft buck doesnt in fact know Aristotle - plus y’all already know they will have no sense of decorum (yes this is about the lyrics jk jk)
Lucky- Jason mraz, colbie caillat (I don’t even particularly listen to this song but “lucky I’m in love with my best friend lucky to have been where I’ve been lucky to be coming home again they don’t know how long it takes waiting for a love like this”)
Nothing- Bruno major (CMON THE VIDEO GAMES AND THE DOMESTICITY IT ALL SO BUDDIE)
Oh god you asked for none of this but you’re getting these songs 😭😭 sorry babe you should know I’ll take a simple ask and go on and on😔💔💔💔💔
