I Am Rich’s
Name: Tammie Flynn
Title: Food Technologist II, Research and Development, TCCS (Toppings, Icings and Culinary Solutions)
Years with Rich’s: 21
Location: Rich’s World Headquarters, Buffalo, New York
Favorite Rich’s product: My favorite product line is Rich’s colored Bettercreme whipped icing. I helped develop the colors many years ago, and sometimes I like to think about how many happy celebrations these products have been part of! I love that I can give cake decorators a rainbow of colors for decorating cakes that customers will take home and use to celebrate special occasions.
Favorite hobby: Collecting penguins.
Proudest moment at Rich’s: My proudest moment has to be a recent project I worked on. I created a new, green whipped topping that one of our customers used for a popular limited-time offer. It’s the best feeling when you can see what you’ve created in the marketplace, and this one was even more special because I was able to go to the restaurant and see every table in there with our product on it!
Next big personal or professional goal: To create more great-tasting products for years to come!

Contractor Bait & Switch
This title may sound bizarre, but this is more common than you might think.  In this blog I will share a real situation and provide some tips to make sure it doesn’t happen to you.
One of our clients needed to bring on a group of contractors ASAP for an important project.
When there is a short timeframe, sometimes all the proper forms and paperwork can be delayed.  After one of the candidates had been on site for two days, the agency received the remaining paperwork that showed that this person was not the same person that originally interviewed.  When confronted with this information, the candidate recanted and admitted that she was not the person that the client originally interviewed.  This caused issues on several levels.
If you work with third parties to help with resources (we also do business with a few partner firms), there is a chance you might find yourself in a similar predicament.   Though it may be hard to believe, there are individuals and firms that have the audacity to do this- especially for short-term projects that involve a lot of resources.
When working with a third party, reinforce your own internal screening processes and ask them directly: “What detailed steps are you taking when you are screening these candidates?”  Do a video screening interview (e.g., Skype) and have them hold up their ID to review.  Take a screen shot to ensure when you meet your candidate-  it’s the same person.
·         Ensure that ALL paperwork is verified in advance.
·         Let you client know that because of your due diligence, a start date might need to be delayed- they will appreciate the work you are doing on their behalf.
·         By being thorough, you’re acting with our client’s best interests in mind- let them know that.
·         Doing right by your client, even if it’s something they might not want to hear initially, will help build your reputation and guarantee long-term success.
