The ride in the next morning is tense as fuck.

In the light of day, the bruising on Jamie's face looks even worse than it had in the quiet starkness of Roy's kitchen. He was only able to coax Jamie into a brief nap on the couch before the drive into work, and in the short handful of hours the cut below his lip had swollen from the bottom of his jaw to the edge of his lip. Their reward for Roy cleaning the road tar out of the scrapes on his face is that the red scratches are even more inflamed, agitated and likely stinging under a layer of carefully applied ointment.

There's no hiding it.

Not that Roy could make himself stomach saying the words, 'Do you want to cover it up?' But fuck, for Jamie's sake, he'd almost prefer it if he had the illusion of an option.

Jamie doesn't speak the entire drive in. His hands lay limp in his lap. His fingers and knuckles are covered in plasters because Roy had overcompensated towards the only part of him able to take a bit of protection. He's not on his phone because his phone is turned off, out of charge with a cracked screen, and sooner or later one of them needs to bring up whether or not Jamie's going to the police or if he's going to wait it out and see what his dad does first, and the entire thing is a gargantuan fucking shit show.

it's officially hallmark christmas movie season in my country which means im getting ads for them everywhere. which made me remember my hilarious revelation from last year that silvio / emma / rio can be fit almost perfectly into the 'rich and kind of asshole big city boyfriend'/'career driven but kind and independent woman'/ 'small town sweetheart' christmas movie archetypes

hmm did a bunch of math trying to fit my lore with arle's & figured out that we're roughly the same age at the current point in the game (if the fans' hc of her being 27 is right -- which i might roll with it until (if) we get confirmation) but then i realized with our birthdays that it'd be funnier if I'm the one older (by a month & a half so ndb) but it's silly that the 5'2" little sunshine harbinger is older and the taller (5'6 or higher?? idk) stoic harbinger is younger

ok -- uhhh long rant ahead??? i usually don't mind the way they f*ck up continuity in some cases when it comes to the xmen but -- they really just --- it's like they said a big "fuck you!" to the source material from days of future past, onward. like -- wtf is the ending of "apocalypse"??? is anyone else fuming that they made mystique the 'founder' of the xmen?? to my recollection she's been one of the biggest advocates for the brotherhood since her inception --she was never a founder of the xmen, rather a founder of the brotherhood. of evil mutants. the antithesis. i just am not ok with that ending -- as if she fucking coined the phrase 'x-men' like -- who made jennifer l*wrence their goddess divine? i may ruffle some feathers with this but -- every time i try and watch this garbage merely for the fact they have olivia munn and oscar isaac, it makes me angry again. -- found this on screenrant and it couldn't be more accurate: "In the comics, Mystique’s character arc has almost gone in the exact opposite direction. While she is usually portrayed as a sympathetic character, her motives are undeniably evil upon her debut. She seeks to destroy S.H.I.E.L.D., the X-Men, and other heroes throughout her early days.
