Recent Work

Still working really hard to get things in order. I wanted to add a silly sketch style like the Pentos & Sarabonney up there but with snacks, sweets or drinks... but I can't add any more options on VGen until I get verified, which I am not. I haven't actually been commissioned once there, nor do I meet the friend requirements. I don't actually know if it's worth it at all and I'm better off sticking with Ko-Fi... Advice from those in the know is welcome!

We have a conversation with Astarion pop up after that dialogue with Sebastian - unsurprisingly.

"Gods above. He kept Sebastian. I feel ill... all the fools and villains who ever fell for my ploys... they're here..."

His voice is high-pitched, frantic. Not afraid, not really, but certainly agitated. Not grieved, not exactly, but appalled.

The unspoken cry... I didn't know this was happening! I didn't know what I was condemning them to!

"If what you told me is true," Hector says neutrally, "that's a colossal sum of souls..." It is taking a certain amount of effort for him to keep his voice even, to avoid lashing out at Astarion in lieu of Cazador for the abject awfulness of the situation.

Astarion scowls. "There's only one reason they'd all still be here," he mutters. "He must need them for the ritual. Each of the seven... we must have brought in a thousand over the decades... They're all lambs for his slaughter."

A long, long pause, and then he goes on, not meeting Hector's eyes. "And if I was to take his place... they'd all die by my hand. Everyone who ever trusted me enough to let down their guard... Innocents, idiots..." He laughs bitterly. "And the unlucky." His shoulders square and his fists clench to hide the trembling in his fingers. "It doesn't matter. I will need to sacrifice them all if I want to perform the ritual."

Well. That answers that question - he does indeed intend to take Cazador's power for himself, no matter the cost. And Hector does not want him coming anywhere near such a decision. Astarion has always craved power, and Hector does not trust him with it. The elf has been far too hurt, and had far too little time to heal, for him to use it wisely.

"You can save them," he points out, wondering if he has any chance of convincing Astarion of this alternative. He thinks-- or at least desperately hopes-- that there is some part of Astarion that is desperate for a way out of this situation that does not involve such terrible blood on his hands.

"What's the point?" Astarion snaps back. "They're as good as dead. I thought they *were* dead." He shakes his head, fumbling for some stable ground to stand on in the conversation. "If they are unleashed, they will cause incredible carnage," he points out. "They will be ravenous. They must die-- better they serve a purpose."

Privately, Hector wonders if he has some sort of point there; the thousand spawn are another issue entirely and one that he is not entirely sure how to answer. But he is sure that Astarion succumbing to the lure of pure, unmitigated power and the cruelty that comes with it is not the answer.

He looks at the elf steadily for a long moment. "This isn't you, Astarion," he says. "Not really."

"It should be!" Astarion snarls defensively. "I don't want to be like them! They're pathetic... horrible..." He trails off into silence, rubs at his forehead with both hands.

Hector hesitates, then takes a slight step closer to him. "Show them the kindness you never saw," he says gently. "No one deserves this fate."

Astarion's fists clench again and he flinches, turning fully away from Hector now. "Don't hate me..." he says in a low voice. There's a long silence.

"Is that what you think?" Hector asks. "That I hate you?"

"Well, don't you?" Astarion snaps, not looking up. "Hector Carlisle, patron of every charity case in the Lower City, dispenser of smooth Selunite wisdom at every turn? Why shouldn't you?"

Hector frowns. "I don't hate you, Astarion. I hate what you were put through-- that you made more slaves does not make you less of a slave yourself."

"Oh, please." Astarion rounds on him sharply. He's recovered himself a little, and is retreating from the appalled strain into more familiar anger. "You think I can't tell what you're thinking? That I'd be a monster for taking on the ritual in Cazador's stead?"

Another long pause. "Yes," Hector finally says quietly. "I think you would become a monster. Not by your fault, but because such power as Cazador wields corrupts all that it touches. You are not a monster now - but I do not believe you are immune to it. Any more than I would be." He shakes his head. "But I do not think you are one now."

"You were trapped," Karlach adds unexpectedly from beside him. "Look at me, Astarion. You think none of us understand what it's like to be stuck in something you can't fix, and have to do terrible shit? You think you're alone in that?"

Astarion blinks. His fists loosen almost imperceptibly at his sides. "It's-- not the same--" he stammers out.

"Course not. I only had ten years of that shit, and you had two hundred," Karlach says bluntly. "But now we're both out. So what do we do? Better? Or worse?"

Astarion says nothing for a long time. His eyes flick between them all rapidly, searching for a hint of disingenuousness, of judgment. Whatever he sees, he doesn't respond, just turns away and stalks off down the corridor. "We need to keep moving."

It's been a week since I posted, I thought it was a busy weekend, turns out it's a busy term. I've been trying to wait till I have time but time never comes :') aaannndd since I'm in a study break rn I figured I would just post some highlights of these days N some pics🫠

Started and finished my part of the 1st group project/ research for "ancient literature criticism" course (re-did it 2 times cuz I wasn't convinced with the 1st result)

24th Saturday

Started and finished a research paper for "eastern effects on ancient Rome" course or class (call it what you would)(also re did it 3 times for the se reason :'))

Prepared for the Latin text lecture

25th Sunday (fun busy)

Went to the Cafe before my friends but they caught up, we stayed there till I finished working on my 3rd research of the weekend, for the philology class while they were having a chat about a series and the banks and stuff

Went to my bff's place and watched a movie and made pizza (I was kitchen princess, they didnt allow me to do stuff so I took pics lol)

Went on a walk got lost for 40 mins, got some transparent files, new pens and printed out my researches

26th Monday

Attended 3 lectures

Attended 2 events which ended at 8 pm (so I went home at 10 ish pm lol that was fun)

Read on transportations

27th Tuesday (today)

Attended 4 lectures

Studied at the garden

Went on a study date with my fav cousin (so we can stay away from the fam gathering, cuz they are a bit noisey and there's a baby there :'))

Working on an assignment today (that is due tomorrow)

Read on transportations (the books is small might finish it on my way to uni tomorrow)

And had a pop quiz today (wasn't prepared for it)

And yes, I missed the gym that weekend Bec I had researchs that took my whole day 😭

Yesterday was a bit rough (31st anniversary of my mum's passing)

So I kept myself busy by making an unnecessary bit of travelling because I only collected part of hubby's prescription, the day before.

Had yet another adventure on the buses, got on one that took me to the edge of the 'village' so I had a fair bit of walking to do.

Picked up my own prescription and went shopping.

I had hoped to dodge the rain later, and thought I'd nailed it. Until the heavens opened as I was halfway home. The trolley was too heavy to lift onto the bus, so I decided to walk.

Hubby wanted a McDees because it was a good 5-8 minutes walk. But I told him I couldn't carry it, it would be cold before I got home, as it took 15-20 minutes to actually get home.

I was soaked through and glad to be indoors when it truly started to heave down.

Tomorrow is going to be rough as well. As its the inquest.

Bossy has decided not to go, hubby also won't go, so I thought I'd see what the verdict is going to be.

It is out of town - a fair way out of town so that will be one hell of a bus journey.

I'm going to represent my hubby and nobody else, since she made it very difficult and decided last minute to not send in her statement and expected hubby to write his own.

He is totally clueless with computer tech and the statements should have been in last weekend.

If she wants to know, she will have to find other means

Sorry things have been so busy this week, still job searching- still waiting for interviews and call backs and stuff so I’m not fully “moved” ya know, but as promised writing will slowly trickle back in once I get a proper desk set up so I can remake character sheets and start all my stories with a new, fresh creative attitude.

Hoping next week is a little less busy so I can start doing headcannons again. I need my blorbo thoughts back-

But Heath wise, things are stable and looking up once I get in with primary health care, and once one of the jobs I applied for picks me I can work up to more health insurance! I get to go to Disney tomorrow and I’m excited, so expect a new pride post later today cause we’re dying our hair rainbow for Disney pride!

GJ and ZZH Updates — April 24-30

This is part of a weekly series collecting updates from and relating to Gong Jun and Zhang Zhehan.

This post is not wholly comprehensive and is intended as an overview, links provided lead to further details. Dates are in accordance with China Standard Time, the organization is chronological. My own biases on some things are reflected here. Anything I include that is not concretely known is indicated as such, and you’re welcome to do your own research and draw your own conclusions as you see fit. A glossary of names and terms often used can be found [here]. Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, concerns, or additions. :)

04-24 → A rumor with no confirmable source was started that there are plans to remake Legend of Yunxi, one of Zhang Zhehan’s past dramas. A hashtag about this stayed in the top 5 of Weibo’s hotsearch for more than 12 hours before disappearing very suddenly; it’s highly suspected that the hotsearch was paid for. The rumor led to backlash from fans of the other actors in the show, especially of the female lead Ju Jingyi, blaming Zhang Zhehan for it being taken down. Fan Observation: Comments have been made that the current tactic against Zhang Zhehan is to destroy his fanbase so that he has no one to support him when he comes back. The wave of candy on 04-23, however, showed that there not only is still a fanbase, but that we’re still quite large, dedicated, and positive. This rumor is a possible retaliation against that. 

→ QuelleVous’s team put out another clip from the interview Zhang Zhehan did last August. (See last week for info, the previous clips, and a full text translation.)

→ Sophie (someone working for Xie Yihua, see my 04-22 entry) posted chatlogs that were supposedly from early-August saying she thought the girlfriend rumors spread in the weeks prior were fake, however, the chatlogs included an emoji that wasn’t added until March of this year. The post was taken down after someone pointed this out. [source]

→ MUJOSH announced a limited edition gift box with a drawing done by Gong Jun to be included with some of their products. The announcement video includes a brief clip of him.

→ Zheng Shuang (one of the other actors included on CAPA’s immoral artists lists for tax evasion and a surrogacy scandal) sued CAPA for the harm done to her career in issuing bans without government approval and including her when she is not a member of their association.

→ People’s Daily announced that the CAC set up a Qinglang anti-cyberviolence task force targetting 18 social media platforms including Weibo. [summary translation]

04-25 → KFC released a (very silly) commercial featuring Gong Jun.

→ YA-MAN posted a video compilation of Gong Jun celebrating the anniversary of their endorsement. (1129 kadian)

→ Roving Inspection Team posted: “We can’t forget China Youth Daily’s direct commentary and courage. Even though only this one official media dared to point out the elephant in the room, it is a sign that more media journalists understand the truth, the direction, and has a conscience. The rule of law in our new era cannot fail to correct such a shocking case of cyberviolence.” [quoted translation]

→ Blue posted a response to further questions about the 04-13 Instagram video, specifically about the fingering on the guitar and the video vs audio.

→ MUJOSH posted a photo ad of Gong Jun advertising a limited edition charm that comes with the aforementioned gift box. Caption: “Dawn breaks, the dark clouds dissipate, and finally it is you! At this moment, the wood is reborn, it is boiling, and it is the final chapter, but our story is not finished yet.” (mtl)

04-26 → MUJOSH posted an announcement video for their upcoming pop-up shops spoken by Gong Jun, mentioning that the last recording from the “audio logs” used in the ad campagin will be available there. The same video was also posted to their Xiao Hong Shu and their Douyin. [subbed video]

→ Gong Jun posted a MUJOSH ad to his Douyin.

→ ELLEMEN accounced that Gong Jun would be featured in their special double cover May issue that would go on sale the following day.

→ CAPA issued an industry ban on another celebrity, Du Xue’er, who was charged with smuggling LSD in 2021 and sentenced to a year in jail in early March. Their statement specifies that they “checked with the relevant authorities” about her sentencing—definitely not the same level of consideration given to Zhang Zhehan. 🤡 [source] 

→ 精彩OK announced that Gong Jun would be featured in their 10th anniversary issue released on 04-29. They later released a promo video as well.

04-27 → Zhang Zhehan’s lunar birthday.

→ Sophie posted screenshots of a conversation with the stores producing the necklace Xie Yihua has been selling about the production cost, trying to claim that they are being sold for less than it costs to make them. Netizens got in contact with the producers themselves and found out that bulk orders are only 125-130 rmb per item. Xie Yihua has been selling them for 1499 rmb. [source]

→ Mengniu posted a bts video to tease a commercial later released on 04-29 featuring Gong Jun.

→ Two Downy ads featuring Gong Jun were released, a short one announcing a flagship store and a longer vlog-style one, as well as several photo ads.

→ ELLEMEN released the double covers, the photoshoot, and a promo video of Gong Jun. [purchase link] Gong Jun posted several of the photos to his Weibo, his Instagram (14:15, 511 kadian), and his Xiao Hong Shu; the caption on all three was 🌞, no tags or promotional messages. Tiffany also posted some of the photos in which he had worn their products. Fan Observations:  -  The Tiffany post had the timestamp 15:27, a kadian for Zhang Zhehan’s lunar birthday (03-27 on the lunar calendar).  -  [this thread] talks a bit about the photoshoot (and a couple other things on this day) in relation to Zhang Zhehan.

→ A donation was made to Donghua Univeristy, Gong Jun’s alma mater, in his fans’ name. 

→ Fans paid for a video celebrating Zhang Zhehan’s lunar birthday to play on a public screen in Taiwan.

→ MUJOSH posted a bts video for the photo ad released on 04-25.

→ CAPA released its annual marketing statistics report for 2021, with the Word of Honor concert listed in its top 10 highest demand performances. 🤡 [source]

04-28 → Mengniu posted three teasers for their commercial featuring Gong Jun [here] [here] and [here].

→ Downy put out two more vlog-style commercials featuring Gong Jun [here] and [here].

→ Weibo implemented a new feature that shows the location of a user’s IP address on their posts. Thanks to this, it can now be seen that a number of the antis who commented about being personally insulted by Gong Jun’s 03-17 incident because they were locals do not actually live in Qingdao (shocking, I know.) This feature has also made it much easier to spot water armies.

04-29 → Downy released a full commercial featuring Gong Jun. Another shorter commercial was also released later.

→ Xie Yihua released another photo from the same photoshoot and a very short video of Zhang Zhehan that she alleged to be new. [here] is the video with the Sanjian bullshit at the end cut out. 🙂 (← me, fed up) Fan Observation: This most recent photo brings the photos that surfaced at the beginning of March into question. If you compare them, it can be seen that he’s wearing the same jeans, same shoes, same necklace, and possibly the same Prada tshirt and earrings, indicating that they were likely taken within a couple days of each other. A reminder that the evidence thus far indicates that the Instagram photos were taken around early summer.

→ Gong Jun posted the full Mengniu commercial to his Weibo.

→ Gong Jun’s 精彩OK issue was released (1129 kadian). [photoshoot] [translated interview] Gong Jun reposted several of the photos to his Weibo. An additional bts photo was later shared by one of the staff members. 

→ Netizens discovered that the IP location of the “Zhang Sanjian has returned” account is Guangdong—not Shanghai, as has been claimed.

→ Gong Jun did a fifteen minute (pre-recorded) livestream for Downy, a recording can be found [here]. The stream as a whole was almost entirely just endorsing the product (ie. not much of note), [here] is a translation of Gong Jun’s closing message. The host later posted a few photos from the livestream to his Weibo.

→ Zhang Zhehan and Gong Jun were reportedly seen and photographed together at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Beijing. The rumor is that they saw the photographer and Zhang Zhehan started to say he would pay them to not share the pictures, but Gong Jun stopped him and said “do whatever you want.” The photos have yet to be made public, so at the time of this post this is unsubstantiated. 04-30 → Once again shortly after midnight, a new photo was posted to the Instragram, this time of a handwritten letter dated 04-21 supposedly written by Zhang Zhehan with the thumb of the person holding it visible. The letter says that a “co-star” (obviously implying Gong Jun) has not contacted Zhang Zhehan since June, and denounces the co-star for using “his [zzh’s] elements” in his advertising. Fan Observations:  -  Even if we do give this the benefit of the doubt and say that it is him, there is zero reason to post a letter publicly rather than directly contacting Gong Jun, Gong Jun’s studio, or the marketting teams. A public letter does nothing but stir up fan drama, which Zhang Zhehan stated that he disliked on multiple occassions.  -  [here] is a side-by-side comparison of the thumb vs the one from his police report on 12-24. There has been some questioning of if the one in this new photo was photoshopped.  -  [here] is a handwriting analysis comparing the signature to the one on the police report, and [here] is a comparison of some of the other characters; a collection of his handwriting can be found [here]. The forging of a signature is explicitly identity theft. Have fun in court, ma’am.  -  [here] is a full breakdown posted by Flora about issues with the letter.  -  An amusing comment: “When Zhang Zhehan could be proving he’s not guilty, he’s chosen to prove that he’s not gay.”  -  Addition 05-02: [here] is a thread talking about how the letter itself and the fact that tabloid reporters have been talking about it is a good sign. tl;dr No one spends this much effort to bring down someone with no chance at coming back.  -  Addition 05-02: Apparently the letter has actually led to more people watching Word of Honor wanting to both get in on the drama and see something with an actual couple behind it, even a broken up one. 😅

→ Zhang Zhehan’s song Surround—mistitled “Forgive - Single Version”, which many have been suspicious of ever since it was added last fall—was taken off Spotify. It’s been noted that this is the only song he released after Xie Yihua became his music manager last April. 

→ LockNLock posted a photo ad and four bts photos of Gong Jun. (10:15, 511 kadian on the latter.)

→ Fans paid for another public screen to play a video for Zhang Zhehan’s birthday, not sure where this one is sorry.

→ Gong Jun’s studio Weibo posted a bts compilation video from his recent advertisements. (flashing lights warning) Addition 05-03 Fan Observation: The music used in the last few seconds of the video is the same song Zhang Zhehan used in one of his videos last July, which has some rather interesting lyrics.

→ Gong Jun posted a commercial for 3CE to his Weibo, caption: “Take a ‘clear’ shot to freeze the flawless moment.” 3CE posted two photo ads of him to their own Weibo shortly after. Fan Observation: Gong Jun’s post was made exactly 12 hours after the Instagram post. 

→ Honor, one of Gong Jun’s endorsements, posted a photo ad of a cat with the caption: “Walls built for people never could restrict the freedom of a cat.” This was taken down a few hours later. (As a personal note, I’ve been keeping an eye on Honor’s ads since they posted a jellyfish in January, and there’s been a Number of 👀 things from them.)

→ Addition 05-02: A Malaysian newspaper ran a tabloid article about the Instagram letter (unfortunately under the assumption that it’s real), calling it a “break up letter” and using a photoshopped photo of the two of them in a very coupley pose.
