Sk8 Rewatch Ep9
God I hope either the OVA or Season 2 gives us more Cherry and Joe backstory cause fuck do they deserve it.
Cherry, honestly, you have extended your hand to Adam far too many times. Honestly, what has he done for you other than take? You try and give your friendship, you try and give a helping hand, you try and give love, and you try and offer a chance to be better, but he won’t take it. It’s not your job to fix him, and at this point it’s hurting you more than you realize.
I wish Sk8 was longer cause we deserved more serious beefs for Joe, Cherry, Miya, and Shadow. Really amp them up to show why their the top skaters of the place.
I’m gonna start walking around S with a shirt that says “Reki Defense Squad” and a bat.
Reki: “Hey, LANGA!” (Now everyone at S knows ya’ll are gay.) [Who am I kidding? S is just a gay club with skateboarding.]
So, fun fact, steel beams can weigh over 1,000lbs even if it’s a small beam. Since it was being held up by a crane we can assume that the beam that Joe kicked was at least 4,000lbs. Muscle-bound God of Skateboarding indeed.
Ooof, Cherry knew Joe lost even before the race finished.
Adam: I can hear them now, the ringing of wedding bells! You’re about to hear my foot going up your ass.
Joe taking over for Oliver again. At this point, Nanako’s gonna be paying child support.
Oh, Reki, baby. 😢😢😢
Not gonna lie, when I first watched Sk8, I actually put a little hope into Adam, watching him lose his voice after he pulled Cherry’s card. His little “Oh” had me thinking he actually had a soul for a hot second.
The one outcome Joe didn’t want coming true. God can you imagine, even if he won against Langa, he’d still have had to watch Adam and Cherry’s beef?!
Cherry: I’ve been waiting for this day. Adam: I didn’t want to compete against you. I hate you. I hate you. I hate you. I hate you. I hate you. I hate you.
I do actually like that Joe can flirt with people he only probably expects a passionate one-night stand, or something of a short relationship from. But, when it’s someone he truly loves, he loses his voice and becomes flustered.
Adam: Hey, how long is this little skit of yours going to go on? It’s about time to start. Me: Aww, is someone jealous he gave up his only two friends and that they still find happiness in each other? Sounds like a you problem.
Joe: Be careful. He’s not the old Adam. Cherry: I don’t need you to tell me that. Oof the double meaning in that.
If you think Cherry not only dodging the Love Hug, but also skating a corner with his eyes closed isn’t cool only because Carla told him the angle, we can’t be friends and I’m gonna have to ask you to leave.
Ya’ll ever noticed Cherry talks to himself a lot?
I have so many words I have to say about Adam v. Cherry. Like. Sooooo many.
Tumblr media
I wonder if these are his classmates or just random dudes he found. Like 3/4 are actually kinda cute, even though the two on the right look like total snobs.
Tumblr media
Now, I’m 100% gonna make a separate post about Adam & Cherry, but for now, aren’t the red tiles on the ground sorta posed likes wings?
You can physically see Joe’s last shred of hope for Adam shriveling up and dying. Joe can tolerate a lot of shit, but he 100% has a line and it’s name is Sakurayakishi Kaoru.
I need those fucking contacts.
Reki, no, come back and take this pin right this second. 🥺
No, Tadashi, Adam being like this is not your fault. You’ve just been groomed to believe that any wrongdoing he does is on your shoulders.
Adam: You’re so naive, Cherry. Me: Damn, it’s almost as if he cares about you.
I like the way that Sk8 shows that Cherry’s current feelings for Adam aren’t romantic. When he gets hit, the image that shatters isn’t the one of the two of them looking into each other’s eyes or when Adam calls them special. It’s the one of him with Adam and Joe. The one of them laughing and being happy, something that he wishes that they all could have again.
I’m so gonna make a post on Adam’s boring comment. Like, how can I not? He’s so full of shit it’s actually insane. Like, I’m sorry you’re not letting yourself have fun.
On another note, I’m also gonna make a post on why I think Kaoru can’t go into the zone. And it’s not because of the way he skates either.
So am I supposed to believe the hospital didn’t call the cops when Kaoru escaped?
Love how it’s implied Joe drank that entire bottle of wine. Like, can you imagine how worried he was, head injuries are no joke.
Joe, sweetie, you need to tell him.

Reki in a skirt. Reki stealing one of Koyomi's skirts without anyone in his family knowing. Reki putting it on in his room when no one is home. Reki feeling really good in a skirt but not ready to do anything about it so he only enjoys it when he's alone. Reki finding little pleasures in being a little more feminine from time to time. Reki who likes stealing things from his sister's closet, things she never wears. Genderfluid Reki who isn't confident enough to do anything about it, isn't confident enough to come out to anyone, but who still wants to wear skirts and pink from time to time

paper rings.
Tumblr media
·˚ ༘⌗ chinen miya x gn!reader
·˚ ༘⌗ childhood promises aren't unusual. miya and you had made many to each other, but the most notable one would be the classic promise to marry one another. miya was getting impatient with time, and decided he didn't need to be a grown up to marry you. after all, paper rings will do, right?
·˚ ༘⌗ warnings: fluff, both of you are still in middle school lol 😃, miya being cute and kind of ooc??
gen masterlist.            sk8 masterlist.
Tumblr media
miya grumbled as he sneaked quick glances at you from across him. you were both at school eating lunch underneath a tree for shade, like you always do, and for some reason, he was acting strange and awfully fidgety ever since the morning you went up to greet him.
"alright, what is it, miya?" you asked with a sigh "h-huh?" miya jumped as he nervously sipped on his drink, avoiding eye contact as his fingers fiddled with his switch.
"you're acting so weird" you said as you throw a candy wrapper at him "you've been looking at me strangely all day" you said as you narrowed your eyes at him
miya gulped and shook his head "no way!" he denied "you're getting too confident, you slime!" he said as he stuck his tongue out playfully
you rolled your eyes and laughed at his antics, throwing another piece of wrapper at him as you tuck a strand of hair behind your ear. "whatever" you said
"and don't call me a slime, im your best friend!" you whined with a laugh. miya blushed and jutted his bottom lip out in a sort of pout. "you're still a slime if you keep acting like that.." he muttered
you raise a brow in confusion "acting like what?" you asked. "a-acting so... so.." he stammered out, looking so flustered as he tries to maintain eye contact with you, even though he could practically feel his heart palpitating.
"so what?" you asked again, this time even more confused as his face visibly becomes a brighter shade of red all the way to the tip of his ears.
"so cute!!" miya finally admitted, accidentally raising his voice a little too high, causing a few students to turn their heads.
"aghhh" he groaned out as he ducked his head to avoid their gazes out of embarrassment.
"oh.. is that so?" you cooed out with a laugh as you cover your cheeks which were heating up from the compliment.
"well, you're pretty cute yourself" you teased "even for a slime"
miya looked up and glared at you, despite his quivering lips and shaky voice he still managed to let out a small "im not a slime.."
you smile and pack away your bento, standing up on your feet and pulling him along. "im gonna keep calling you a slime if you won't stop acting weird around me" you said
"anyways, let's go. lunch is about to end" you say as you take his hand in yours and proceed to walk away. miya gulped as he stared longingly at your intertwined hands.
more specifically, your ring finger which seems to be quite bare.
"hey, y/n.." he muttered. "yeah?" you reply
"remember our promise?" he asked ".. yknow, when we were kids?"
you hummed for a moment before replying, "i think so.." you said "i mean.. i remember promising not to tell anyone when you fell into a canal when we were like five-"
"not that!!" miya shrieked with a bit of a pink tint to his cheeks "forget about that whole thing, that's embarrassing!" he whined
"then what?" you asked with a laugh "i can't name every promise we've ever made all in one go, you know?"
miya huffed and abruptly stopped in his tracks, causing you to halt along with him.
"i meant.. when we promised to marry each other." he said in a soft whisper
"miya.." you mumble as you stare at him in surprise. miya simply looked away, avoiding eye contact as his lips quiver into a small frown.
"um. yeah, i remember" you replied with a nervous smile as miya takes your hand in his and locks your fingers together.
"y/n, i think.." miya stammered out "i think i want to get married already."
you blinked in shock and confusion before letting out a sheepish laugh "haha, miya you can't be serious" you said
"we're too young, plus, you're saying that as if you like me or something" you said in a joking manner as you playfully hit his shoulder "but you don't actually like me, right?" you asked with a nervous gulp
miya shook his head and placed your hands over his chest, holding them tenderly as he stares up at you with his eyes glimmering with admiration.
"i like you a lot, y/n" he admitted "i've liked you since we were kids and-" he cut himself off
"actually, i think i love you. so um.. i wanna get married so nobody else can love you but me." miya said with a look of determination on his face as he nervously waits for your response.
"well uh.." you stammer out as you nervously look around "i.. i love you too, miya.." you finally admitted as you send him a bashful glance
miya's eyes widened as his smile turned into a wide grin. "really?" he asked with excitement
"yeah i guess" you muttered bashfully as you try to avoid his entrancing emerald hued eyes.
"that's great! let's get married." miya said as he took your hand and pulled you along as he ran towards the infamous cherry blossom tree in your school.
"miya, slow down!" you whined as he practically dragged you along while you struggled to keep up with him since he was basically sprinting.
"hurry up, you slime!" miya exclaimed with a laugh as he slows down to match your pace
"geez. you know we can get married at like 20 or 25 instead, right?" you said as you let out a breath of air
you were both underneath the cherry blossom tree. the beautiful pink blossoms fall and sway around due to the wind as the both of you lay on the grassy ground.
"we don't even have rings" you laughed as you turned to look at him. "don't worry i already have those" miya said with a cat-like grin
you watched in amusement as he dug into his pocket and pulled out two rings made of paper with small cat and video game stickers and both of your names written on the inside.
"oh gosh you actually have them" you sweat drop "ofcourse! i made these this morning and put a lot of effort so you better accept it" miya playfully scowled
you both sat up as he held out his palm, urging you to place your hand on top of it.
"my vows would be.. uh i'll love you forever and let you play my games. and i won't ever leave you and call you a slime ever again" miya muttered as he slid the ring into your finger, blushing madly as he does so.
"wow, nice vows. very heartfelt." you say sarcastically with a laugh, causing him to grumble and gently hit you with his fist.
"just say your vows, you slime!"
"you just said you wouldn't call me a slime anymore!"
"that only applies after! we're still not together since you still haven't told me your vows, slime!"
you sigh as a fond smile grazed your lips. you stare at miya through your lashes, chuckling to yourself as you see him waiting expectantly with a concerning amount of blush on his cheeks.
"my vows would be.." you muttered "that i would never leave you and i'll be with you and support you in whatever you wanna do." you said
"and-"
"that's enough" miya cut you off by waving his hand at your face, while covering his with the other. "u-um.. im fine with just that, you don't have to say anything else.." he said
you blink in confusion but agree anyways. "okay then" you smiled
miya gulped as he shakily lends you his hand, watching in astonishment as you slid the ring onto his finger.
"there, we're now officially together forever" you said with a laugh as you intertwined your hands together
"yeah." miya mumbled as his lips slowly curled into a loving smile
you gave him a smug grin as you point to your lips "this is the part where you kiss me-"
miya didn't let you finish as he suddenly tackled you into a hug and pressed a soft kiss onto your lips before moving along and pressing his lips onto both of your cheeks and nose.
"thanks for marrying me" miya muttered against your neck as he buries his face against your skin
"anytime" you chuckled. you wrapped your arms around him, causing him to sigh in satisfaction and relax against your body.
"mhhm, love you y/n" he mumbled
"i love you too miya"
Tumblr media
"man, you'll never understand since you're too young" reki said with a smug grin as he patted miya's head to emphasise his point
"love is just too complex for kiddos like you" reki teased
miya simply grumbled and glared up at the redhead, causing reki to laugh even more. "oh yeah?" miya taunted
"well, it's not like you have a lover of your own" he scoffed "you can't flirt for the life of you, and girls wouldn't even waste their time of day to look at you"
reki let out a pained smile as he sulked over miya's harsh words. "ahahaha, those are some big words for a little kid like you" reki squeaked out with a chuckle
"tch.." miya gritted his teeth as he glared up at reki "you have no room to talk when your ethe one who doesn't have a s/o, you slime!" he exclaimed
"eh??" reki mused "why? do you have a s/o?" he taunted "i think not-"
"yes i do." miya cut him off with a smug smirk
"ha?! how?! you're like three?!?" reki exclaimed in surprise, which seemed to catch the others' attention
"ha?! im thirteen idiot!!" miya yelled back with a scowl
"what happened?" kaoru asks with a raised brow as he looks between the two boys. reki seemed to be in shock and suspicion, while miya was sticking his tongue out at the redhead.
"cherry, miya said he has a s/o!!" reki exclaimed "how is that even possible?! he's a child!"
"im a teenager!" miya exclaimed
"really?" kaoru hummed in amusement as his eyes slowly trail over to you, who was too busy munching on burgers with langa to even notice their arguing.
"who is it??" reki asked "its y/n." miya replied with a proud smirk
"Y/N?! IMPOSSIBLE!" reki exclaimed with widened eyes. he ran over to you and hugged you protectively to his chest. "y/n, answer me honestly!" he said
"are you and miya together?!"
you blink in confusion and look at langa for an answer, though he simply shrugged and carried on eating. "um, well yeah." you said
"no way?!!!" reki exclaimed "oi you slime, why does it seem so unbelievable to you anyway, huh?" miya asked him with a raised brow as he pulled you closer to him
"it's just a shock to me!" reki said "i never would've guessed that.." he let out a sigh
kojiro sweat dropped and patted miya and yours' heads. "well, it was pretty obvious they'd end up together" he said
"yeah, we even got married." miya said in a nonchalant tone as he intertwined your hands.
"EH?!" now this time, everyone had let out a scream of their own. they looked between the two of you and blinked in shock.
"impossible. since when?" kaoru asked
"a week ago" you replied with a smile as you raise both of your hands to show them the rings on your fingers.
"but thats just paper-" kaoru slapped langa's mouth with his fan and smiled proudly at the two of you.
"that's wonderful. are those your rings?" he asked with a hum
"yeah. miya made them" you replied "it was really fun. the 'wedding' was a bit unexpected but its fine." you said
"the children are growing up!" kojiro exclaimed as he covered his mouth, while he wipes the stray tears of joy away.
"kaoru! the children are grown!!"
"shut up, you gorrila! you act like they're our kids." kaoru rolled his eyes. he then turned to you and smiled softly once again.
"congratulations" he said
"heh. hows that, you slime?" miya sneered at reki as he flaunts the paper rings with a smug cat-like grin.
"those are just paper anyways! so you're not really married- ow!" reki yelped as he felt kaoru's fan hit his head
"tch. whatever! im gonna get real rings soon!" miya exclaimed.
"no need to rush things, you know?" you mused as you patted miya's head
"yeah.." miya muttered "paper rings will do for now.. right?" he asked.
"right."

hehe the way I smiled when I saw that your requests r open!!Thank you😗
May I request Cherry X Reader where they r in an arranged marriage. Like maybe the reader is from a traditional family and she agrees to it anyway since she loves her parents but is low-key scared of being his wife/a mother. They have a rocky start but end up falling in love. Maybe one day cherry takes her to S to see him race and meet the gang and she loves it. You can make it spicy at the end if you like 👀
idk why but I always think about this when I see him and also braiding his hair coz it's so much prettier than mine 😒💖
A/N:I don’t understand how a man can be so beautiful// much longer than I expected it to be....
Please enjoy~🍰
Warnings; Some mention of smut; Nothing too detailed, but it’s there

Tumblr media
“Come here your kimono isn’t tight enough“ your mother said as she went behind you to tighten it even more than before
“Mom! I can’t breath if it’s this tight!“ you said almost wheezing for air.
“You have to make sure your waist looks small and appealing” she said, even though, looks are not everything in a relationship. As much as you didn’t want to, you had to look your best today, it was important. You were going to meet the man you were to marry. You were part of an important family in Japan, and of course your family was very traditional. This only meant you were already expecting an arranged marriage.
Today you were meeting with him for the first time. From what you heard, he was a successful calligrapher, and popular with women. You didn't quite know how to feel with that, but this was your future. Most people wouldn't agree with arranged marriages but, you love your parents and this is what they wanted.
They told you that he was a gentleman, and very respectful. Well your hopes were up now, hopefully you’re not disappointed. Could you possibly end up in a good marriage? walking into the home you were greeted not by someone work there, but by a voice.
“Welcome, master Kaoru is waiting for you in the meeting room.“ for someone who is traditional he sure had a good AI system. Walking off to the right your father opens the sliding door and there he was. A young man with long pink hair and glasses, he wore traditional clothing and seemed very proper.
“Mr & Mrs Y/L/N, welcome please take a seat.” Not a hint of emotion on his face.
He was stoic but not cold. He poured you all some tea and your parents begin to discuss the marriage. Now that you say there and listened to everything, it really started sinking in. You were getting married to a complete stranger. You didn’t know the first thing about marriage! Or being a wife! Oh gods.....what if they expected children??
A million things were flooding your mind, you felt so lost. In all honesty, you were scared of what was to come..
“Y/N..” you were brought out of your thoughts by your mother gently shaking your shoulder “are you alright? You look sick”
“O-oh, yes I’m fine!“ you assure her swallowing the lump in your throat
“If you say so, we need you and Mr.Sakurayashiki to sign the papers as well. In 2 weeks time there will be a wedding ceremony but for now, we must fill out the papers.“ you watch Kaoru take the pen read the line and signs his name next was your turn.
He hands you the paper and pen, you bite your bottom lip as you read ‘spouse sign here’. You let out a shaky breath as the ink forms your name on the paper. After some more discussions on the wedding it was your time to leave. You all thanked him for tea and his time. Before you walked out the door he asked t speak with you for a moment, making your heart drop. You parents wait outside as you have a word with the pink haired man.
“Y/N, I just want you to relax, I noticed you were nervous before and you should know I won’t mistreat you and will try to be a proper spouse“
“Oh, uhm thank you Mr-“
He interrupts you “Please call me Kaoru“
<><><><>
Just as planned the wedding happened 2 weeks from then. You couldn’t stop blushing that day, from anxiety, to shyness, to even Kaoru. He looked very handsome that day, and he was just as much as gentleman. The ceremony was calm and heartfelt, friends and family gathered to witness your union. He saw you were very nervous that day so, instead of a general kiss he gave you a quick peck.
Only for you to duck you flustered face, he found it quite cute actually. He thought you looked beautiful that day in traditional wedding attire. He took mental note son how you were as a person. Although you seemed somewhat intimidated, you were considerate and kind. You helped people who needed it, and you put others before yourself. He just hoped this marriage will have a good outcome.
———
“We don’t have to do this” he simply said beginning to disrobe
“But-“ usually it was on the first night of the wedding when. It should happen
“If we get to that stage in our relationship, then you can tell me. You don’t have to force yourself. I can leave the room until you’re done getting changed” he left the room so that you can change. You take a moment to assess the situation, and you smile to yourself
“How considerate...“ you think to yourself. after changing, you both ordered room service and have dinner for the night. He was nice to talk to, it had some interesting topics to share with you. Even his calligraphy job seemed interesting. He offered to take a different room while you slept in this one's may be comfortable, but you said it was okay and you were fine with sharing a bed.
he's not like most men I hear about an arranged marriages. He's not forcing you to do anything, he's asking if I'm comfortable with everything. All the stories really kind of scared me into this, maybe it won't be so bad....maybe....
<><><><>
“Y/N, get dressed we’re going out tonight“ he says coming to you and kisses your cheek. It has been about 11 months, almost a year, since you married and it has been better than you thought. of course you had fears of Nami and expectations of a “good wife”. He made sure to tell you how much of a good job you were doing, even if you didn't do much. He thought you were perfect the way you are. He also believe that he could trust you enough to share secret with you--he was taking you to “S”
Usually you both go to events together, especially ones that associated with his work. But tonight was different he had different attire on. He wore his hair in a ponytail, no glasses and a mask covering the bottom portion of his face.
“Where are we going? A costume party?“ you joke
“After seeing one person you mat think that“ he said but was still serious about you getting ready ““make sure you dress comfortably you don't need to wear kimono for this.” he gave you more detail “Now listen to me, where we are going you cannot speak of after. Not to me, nor to your parents or anyone else if they know about it.“
“Huh? Are we joining some secret society?“ you giggle coming back out in some jeans and a t shirt with a sweater.
“In a way, let’s go.“ if you thought tonight was strange you only got stranger, you would expect a person like him to have a motorcycle. Or to be carrying a skateboard for that matter, just who was this person and was he really your husband. Holding on to him you take off into the dead of night. eventually make it to the gate where he showed an s-shaped sticker and was granted entry. There multiple women started to scream
“Cherry!!”  “Master Cherry!!” Were they referring to Kaoru?
“Yo Cherry, ya made it- and you finally brought a girl with ya. It’s about time” a tall muscular man with green hair said patting Kaoru on the back roughly. Next came a man with dramatic makeup and a cape. Two boys who seemed to ebe in high school, one with red hair and the other with blue. Finally a much younger looking boy with a cat hoodie. Huh, interesting crowd...
“Get off me!“ he said kicking him in the ass “This is Y/N, she’s my wife“ he said standing next to you and all their jaws drop
“Cherry is married?!“
“Huh, she’s pretty quiet compared to these girls...it’s kinda nice“
“Damn, and to think you could have gotten anyone but got married.“ Kaoru seemed very annoyed at this point
“Yes I am married, she’s better than the screaming women here, and I will not toy with women like you do!!“ he answered all their questions in one go “Y/N, this is a place where skateboarders come to race, it’s called ‘S’, these are JOE, MIYA, Reki, Langa, and SHADOW“
“H-hello..“ you wave to the small group and they waved back
“Y/N, do you mind stay here with Reki and Langa? I need to race and I’ll be back“ he asked laying hand to the top of your head and you nod. He leans down and places his covered lips to your forehead. He then picked up his board, it was black with some purple lining and goes to the start.
There he and JOE get ready to race as a traffic light counts their start. After it turns green they were off like rockets. It was still a lot to swallow...how he kind of had a double life and you were just now finding out about it. It was a bit overwhelming when you really watched him go. The way he picked up speed and rounded corners, made you hold your breath and gasp with each trick he did.
When they approach the finish line he had won and the crowd was chanting his name. They both made their way back bickering about who was the best skater, when they were both equally amazing. Crowds joined around them but you just stayed behind still processing everything. It wasn’t a bad thing, but you were just wondering so many thing. Cherry pushes his way through the crowd and to your side lifting your head without warning captures your lips in a kiss.
This was the most intimate you had been with him, and in public! The crowd went quiet and some of the girls there complained or whined about not being in your place. After he pulls away he whispered to you
“Let’s go home...“ and you were on your way back to the comfort of your home. That night he had made love to you for the first time ever. It was passionate, and steamy, and full of love. He was your first ever so he made sure to go slow for you. Everything about it just felt so good, the way he held and kissed you. He handled you like glass but did not fail to meet your pleasure.
That night was when you opened up about your fears of being his wife
“..and seeing how amazing you were tonight only made me more aware of who you were. I just...hope I can live up to your standards as a wife, and don’t get me started on children. Imagine having a plain mother“ you vented to him as he held you close
“Don’t say that,“ he snapped back “You’re an incredible wife and you’d be an even better mother one day. When I heard about the arrangement I was honestly nervous. And the day I saw you only raised my anxiety, I thought you were stunning, and your shyness only made you cuter“ he admits with a chuckle
“I guess....we’re both nervous wrecks who married each other then?“ you giggle looking up at him as your head lays on his chest
“You’re my nervous wreck“ he said poking your nose with his finger “...I have something else to tell you...“
“What’s that?“ you ask. He cranes his head down toward you
“...I love you“ he whispered as he catches you lips in a kiss

I hope this was okay!❤️

their s/o gets an injury from skating
Tumblr media
featuring: reki and langa
some mentions of blood but mostly comfy comfort. enjoy! x
reki
knowing well what kind of accidents can happen in skating, he always comes prepared with some bandaids
although he was somewhat anxious over the thought of seeing you get hurt, he was excited that you wanted to learn how to skate and was very happy to teach you
he actually makes you wear a helmet and padding because while injuries are part of the sport, he really doesn’t want anything serious to happen to you
besides, he thinks you look so cute in your skating gear and squishes your cheeks after snapping the helmet strap in place under your chin
“look at my adorable little skater! you’re so cute. okay, babe. let’s get you cruising!”
turns out you’re a pretty quick learner and by the end of the day, you can push yourself comfortably without his help
he’s so proud :’)
he stays up all night making you your own board to ride the next day, which is when he teaches you how to ollie
you don’t learn that as quickly as it’s a skill that you have to really work at to see results
but he’s there to comfort your frustration and buy your favorite sweet treat for all your hard work so far
one day you were just having a bad day which caused more frustration, making you push too much and too hard that one of the wheels hit a rock
you were jolted forward, front first into the concrete ground
you tried to fall on your shoulder but didn’t have enough time to turn your body, causing you to fall right on your arm
you laid on your side as your wrist throbbed while your frantic boyfriend was calling out to you
“babe, are you okay? oh my god, you scared me! let me see. where does it hurt?”
you’re sniffling as you hold out your hurt arm to him for him to examine
it hurts a little when he bends it but the bone doesn’t seem to be broken
he immediately takes you to the emergency room and turns out it’s only a sprain but you can’t skate for a few weeks
he’s as bummed out as you are but he’s also excited to provide help whenever you need it, being the doting boyfriend that he can be
he hugs you tightly and kisses your head many times before you go home, “i was so worried but i’m so glad you’re okay. i don’t know what i would do if it had been more serious.”
he tries to keep you off the board as much as possible, even going so far as to avoid taking you to the skateparks or S
you don’t want to keep him from skating just because you can’t and you genuinely enjoy just watching him skate so you’re eventually able to convince him to take you to watch him skate
it makes you want to skate after a while but he won’t let you. eventually, he’ll give in to your cute pouty face and let you ride on his board with him
despite that you’re down about being injured, he enjoys this downtime he gets to take with you and also the opportunity for him to take you on a romantic getaway at a hot spring to ‘heal your injuries’
langa
he’s not as prepared as reki but he knows the grueling hassles of falling and hurting yourself when learning to skate
seeing all his falls and injuries had deterred you from wanting to learn
you would rather watch him because he was still good at it. something about watching him was mesmerizing and others would probably agree
one day he finally convinced you to at least step on the board. he’s not as good as a teacher as reki but he can at least teach you the basics
he holds your hand as you try to stand on the deck like how he showed you
it was more wobbly than anything, which made you feel like it would slip out from under you
he holds your other hand and tells you not to shift your weight too much as you bring your other foot up on the deck. once you’re finally there, you can’t stop looking at your feet
“see? you’re standing on the board now. don’t worry, i won’t let go.”
he pushes you around for a little bit, enjoying the smile that you have as it seems like you’re having more fun
you’re still apprehensive about being on the board by yourself but you try a few pushes by yourself. the scariest part about it was picking your foot back up off the ground without shifting your weight too much. it really was harder than it looks
suddenly, you pushed a little too hard and lost your balance, flying forwards and landing on one of your knees
now your knee and hip flexor were throbbing from being in almost a jazz split position
langa gasps in horror and runs over to make sure you’re okay
his eyes widen at the sight of red on your one knee. he doesn’t like the sight of blood but he’s gotten more accustomed to it since he started skating
he kneels down to your height, helping you to sit down in a more comfortable position next to him
“ouch. are you okay? does it hurt anywhere else?”
you let some tears fall and he just kinda sits there and awkwardly rub your back before telling you that he’ll be back with some bandaids
he ends up using like five to cover the skinned parts of your knee and then checks your hands and covers the small scratches there as well
he then helps you up and supports you as you lightly limp over to your stuff
the temperature dropped as the sun went down so he gives you his button-down shirt to wear as you walk home together
once you arrive at your house, he insists on coming inside with you to help clean your wound
he has you hold his hand as you skin stings from the hydrogen peroxide that he uses to clean it. he then covers it with a bigger bandage and then kisses the covered injury, which he claims is important for a fast recovery
he feels bad that your first impression of skating wasn’t great and resulted in you getting hurt but nevertheless, he doesn’t push you to try it again if you don’t want to
but if you do want to get back on the board, he’ll be there to guide you all the way

Langa VS. the Assholes Who Hurt Reki
Summary: Langa and Reki have finally made up! But that doesn't mean that they no longer have problems.
(or, Langa just wants Reki to be happy, but for some reason people are very against that.)
Warnings: Swearing (Langa has has enough), Mentions of violence, Ad*m.
Words: 1.7k
(haha wdym the title is a star vs the forces of evil pun,,, no it isnt haha)
The stars in Okinawa reflected the sea, and the sound of their laughter along with the scraping of wheels against the cement ground is one that symbolizes peace, unity, and pure, unadulterated love.
Langa and Reki are alright again, and everything is right with the world.
"You... What?" Langa looked befuddled, an unidentifiable look on his features, as Reki nervously fiddled with his fingers, blushing from embarrassment. From what? He doesn't know.
"It's— it's not as bad as you think!" Reki said hurriedly, but by now there was a prominent frown on Langa's face, "it's— I was just ran over by a car—"
"Just," Langa emphasized, his voice uncharacteristically firmer and louder, "ran over by a car? Reki, do you think everyone just gets run over by a car? And do you think people who get run over by a car wake up in a love hotel? With a stranger?"
It's the next day since Langa and Reki's making up from their fight, and neither of them quite expected that the comeback of their roof-top lunches would start with Reki accidentally spilling that he was in a love hotel. Much less brought to a love hotel because he was ran over. By a stranger.
Everything was all so suddenly not-right, and Langa couldn't decide if this was better, or worse.
"—Langa? Hey, earth to Prince Langa!" Reki snapped his fingers in front of Langa's face, and the latter blinked, wondering when he started to get lost in his thoughts, and—wow. Reki seemed a bit too close to his face right now. Not that he was complaining.
There was a cute pout on Reki's lips, Langa guessed it was caused by his own neglect of their conversation. The former, though, upon noticing that his companion's eyes were on his lips, blushed bright red again, and brought back distance between them. Langa didn't stop the disappointed sigh from his lips, but the disappointment didn't last long.
His face once again etched up in concern, looking at Reki, who was facing down at the ground, his headband covering his cheeks, in an attempt to cool them down. Langa let a small, fond smile on his lips, before shaking it off once he remembered what Reki mentioned earlier.
"Reki, you can't just brush this off," Langa said, eyebrows furrowing and his chest hardening in both concern and frustration, "what else happened to you when I wasn't around?"
Reki sneaked a glance at Langa, before sheepishly turning away.
"Nothing," Reki said, but the lie obvious to Langa, "and you're talking a lot about this, like last night."
Langa frowned, "of course I am, you worry me a lot when you say 'it's nothing' or 'I'm fine'," he played with the hem of his shirt, before letting go and continuing, "because most of the time, you're lying."
Reki said nothing, only burrowing farther in himself. Langa huffed, frustration building up in him. If Reki thought it was surprising to see him chatty, he'll definitely have a heart attack after this.
Langa engulfed Reki in a hug, and it wasn't only the latter who gasped in surprise. Perhaps they've gathered some nosy onlookers?
Who cares?, Langa thought, Reki's the only thing that's important right now.
"Reki, be honest please?" Langa said, voice muffled, as he buried his face on Reki's shoulder.
"O-okay! Langa, okay, I'll tell you!" Reki stuttered out, a flustered mess, from the way he spoke, "just, let go, please?" He whispered to Langa, "people are kind of looking at us right now."
Langa didn't care who saw them, honestly. But he got what he wanted, and he didn't want Reki to be embarrassed too bad, so he let go of Reki's waist, and sat back to where he was positioned earlier.
He looked at Reki expectantly, but with patience. The latter picked at his nails in nervousness, wherein Langa took one of his hands to ease his anxiety.
Reki brought back Langa's hands, and started staring down at them and playing with them. He seemed to calm down, as his cheeks were no longer red, and Langa sent a dirty look to the passersby who were looking at them with keen interest, when Reki wasn't looking.
Reki swallowed, and looked up at him.
He scrunched up his face and looked away for a second, scratching his cheek with a finger, a small flush on his cheeks, "uhm..." letting out a sigh, Reki collected his thoughts and said, "erm, before I met you, I used to be in this sort of team? Gang? Thing... It was for skating." Reki added, upon the worried and horrified look on Langa's face, and the latter let out a sigh of relief, and encouraged him to continue.
"Er, they were sort of—they weren't really people I wanted to hang out with?" Reki mumbled, sheepishly, "they, uhm, they weren't really ones who enjoyed skating? They did it for the aesthetic, basically, and it made them sort of lame for me.
"So, I quit after three days."
Langa only seemed confused, so Reki added, "and well, I saw them while walking through the market and they kind of..." Reki mumbled the last part, and Langa blinked.
"'They kind of' what?" Langa pressed on, and Reki swallowed.
"They jumped me, but—" Reki immediately started to add, silencing a seething Langa with the palm of his hand.
Langa was nothing short of furious, and he was ready to tell Joe about this development to gang up on the little fucks that put a hand on Reki. And you know what? He'll do the same to that stranger! He'll make them have hell to pay, damn it, how dare they hurt his Reki.
But he couldn't express any of this right now, with Reki's hand on his mouth, so he (begrudgingly) let Reki continue.
"—but, it's fine! It's all in the past now. 'Sides, I kind of felt like I deserved it? I mean, I didn't actually deserve it—" he said, at the furious glare Langa sent to him, "it's just—well, it didn't compare to the people at S, y'know I—oops."
Reki flustered, detaching his palm from Langa's mouth to cover his own. Langa squashed the giddy feeling of that indirect kiss, and firmly, but with a gentleness Reki absolutely deserved, placed his hands on both of Reki's shoulders.
"What did 'the people of S' do, Reki?" Langa grounded out, tired of all of these people out to hurt Reki. Out of everyone he knew, Reki was the last one to deserve this much abuse.
Reki looked up at Langa, and knew he couldn't just lie his way out of not telling him. He looked down for a moment, simmering in guilt—of what?— and looked back up at Langa, setting his hands on his lap.
"They, uh. They would talk behind my back, and uhm, and talk about... How I'm just... A useless... Er," Reki struggled to find the words, and he felt tears sting at his eyes, and he looked up, not wanting them to fall. Langa felt guilty at making him relive these memories, but he needs to know exactly how he'll hurt these assholes.
Reki looked down, at his hands, and then at Langa, then he said, "they'd say that I'm no one... That I'm just... 'the guy who hangs around Snow'... Or just..." Reki bit his lip, "the one who's not Snow."
Langa was reminded of a meme, back from when he was still very much devoid of Reki and his kindness, talent, and all around amazing-ness. It was a dubbed line from an anime, wasn't it?
This is the first time in my life that I've been provoked to hit a woman.
Except they weren't a woman, in fact, they were the plethora of annoying assholes who made Reki feel worse than he already did.
Talk about kicking a guy while he was down.
"Names." Langa said, plain and simple.
"Huh?" Reki said, confused and flustered.
"I want their names, Reki."
"Langa, they were total strangers! Which makes it even more pathetic that their words got to me, honestly—"
"Don't blame yourself for them being stupid and blind." Langa said firmly, "you're amazing, Reki. Don't let them make you think otherwise."
At that, Reki smiled, and playfully punched Langa's shoulder, "thanks, Langa."
Before Reki could pull his hand away, Langa took it in both of his own, "I'm serious. You're so amazing Reki—"
Reki blushed, "th-thanks man, you're amazing too—"
"—you really don't understand, when you skate, you're the only thing I see—"
"—that's really enough!"
"—and you know exactly what I need, and you don't even have to try that hard to figure it out—"
"—is this even about skating anymore, Langa?"
"—and I think your headband is neat, but you look so cute without it, and your hair is a lot more fluffy—"
"Alright!" Reki squeaked out, just as the bell rang, signalling the end of the lunch period, "we'll talk about this later, we have to go back to school—er, class!" Flustered, Reki fixed his headband, and stomped his way back to the classroom.
Langa let out blissful laughter, and for now, he was satisfied with his work. He hoped it'd be enough for Reki to temporarily forget what those people did and said to him. Hoped it distracted Reki enough to not figure out that Langa was planning to find out everything with the rest of the gang, and would be punishing the ones who offended Reki accordingly.
He ran up to Reki, and offered his hand to the latter, whose cheeks were still flushed.
To his delight, Reki took his hand, and they walked down back to their classroom, hand in hand.
Later that evening, uncannily enough, Adam proposed an idea to the duo. A rematch, he had said, to redeem Reki of his loss in their last beef. There was an obvious, underlying malice, in his offer, though. Reki looked terrified, yet determined, but before he could agree, Langa had stepped in front of him, a chilling glower directed at Adam, who only smirked.
Langa had enough of people wanting to hurt Reki, and hated that smug face on Adam's features so much (it promised to hurt Reki to the point that he would be irreparable, and Langa was furious), that before Adam could even comment at Langa's protective stance, he had been punched in the face by the latter.
And, well, Joe seemed a bit inspired to do the same.

Renga Drabble: Reki Takes Langa to a Love Hotel Words: 1636 Summary: With Langa being confused as to where Reki was taken, Reki decides to just take him there himself. Once there Reki finds out just how oblivious Langa is and why it all seems to fly over his head.
"Just take a right here, Langa, at least... I think it's around here."
Reki sighs and rubs the back of his head in a sheepish manner, his other arm wrapped tightly around his friend's midsection. The moment he'd mentioned SNAKE taking him to a love hotel it had Langa confused and curious, so of course Reki had the magnificent idea to take him there himself. They're riding there by scooter and Reki has been guiding Langa around the town, desperately trying to remember the way back from where he left with SNAKE.
"I think I see it, is it the building with the pink-?" Before Langa could finish his question Reki pipes in to quiet him, face already turning pink at the thought of what Langa could have finished with. "Yup! It's that one alright! Just park up and I'll... talk with the person stationed there." "You have a room booked already?" Langa glances back at Reki who freezes up, face going pinker at the thought of actually booking a room for activities with Langa. "No no no no! I- I talked with Oka about this and he uh... helped me out - after telling me off, that is," Reki rubs the back of his head awkwardly, hiding his face in Langa's back. "He's... friends with someone who works there and set us up, so yeah." "Ah."
The ride there silences after that, neither of the two speaking up due to the awkwardness that crept in. Langa, who was usually quiet anyway, didn't seem to notice the difference in air and keeps the silence as Reki tries to cool his composure behind him. As soon as they arrive Reki hops off the scooter, taking his helmet off and putting it where he sat previously. Without waiting for Langa he quickly races off into the building, wanting to get this over with as quickly as possible, and knowing the kind of establishment this is he knows the attendant would want the same thing.
As soon as he's inside Reki's over to the front desk in a flash, finding the one-sided glass to be a relieving sight, after all he wants to stay anonymous, only needing to state his business, get that business done and then go. "Hey uh, Kyan Reki here to... view a room? I'm sure Oka gave you the-?" Before Reki could finish he's cut off with a wave from the attendant behind the glass. "Yeah yeah, Oka made sure of this yada yada, room's unlooked for you. Room three, first floor, down the hall to your left, have a good day and don't take too long it's booked for-" "Okay! I understand, thank you!"
Reki shuffles away from the glass, face red with embarrassment with the knowledge that the room they're there to view is booked for those activities later. A shiver goes down Reki's back at the mere thought of people here for that type of "activity" walking in on him and Langa just casually viewing a room. The opening and closing of the entry door snaps Reki out of his stupor and he turns to see a very annoyed looking Langa staring back at him.
"Ah, hey Langa! I was wondering when you would get in here." "Why did you leave me out there to park the scooter alone? I had trouble." Reki scratches the back of his head and laughs awkwardly, suddenly aware of how this might seem to the desk attendee. "Aha, well I had things to sort out! Anyway, I got our room so-" "Remember you both are here to view it and view it only." Reki freezes up as the attendant pipes in to make sure the two don't do anything out of line.
Sighing, Reki mutters a confirmation under his breath before going over to Langa and taking his hand to lead him to their room before anything else transpires. Langa follows him without complaint - simply going along with him and looking around curiously at the decorations and the dim lighting. The lighting of the place remained consistent from the entrance to the halls and rooms, it's all a lovely pink - easy on the eyes and light enough to see others you may be with. It all seems to go over Langa's head though, Reki notices, as Langa's face isn't as pink as Reki's is, which Reki found okay albeit odd as nothing here affected him, not even the faded music in the background which set Reki on edge in ways he'll keep to himself.
As soon as they reach their room Reki opens the door and quickly scuttles in, moving over to the bed in a flash. Langa walks in slowly, his mouth in the shape of an 'o' as he takes in the scene around him. The room chosen for them looked to be the cheap option in this establishment with only a bed, a chair akin to a throne and a bathroom off to the side. On the bed are silk purple pillows, one for each person and close to each other, the covers a gorgeous magenta with floral patterning adorning them. Reki bounces on the bed a tiny bit and finds that it's a waterbed, which in his eyes made it all worse. Behind the headboard are a set of buttons all with different functions which Reki's all too familiar with, knowing that the bed can spin and that there are lights above them which can turn a variety of colours to fit the mood (they're currently a rich pink). The room is much different than the one Reki woke up in with SNAKE, this room seems to just be here for those who want to get to the point, the one he was in was themed, so Reki gathers that this place has a range of rooms fit for all sorts of purposes.
Reki jumps slightly as he hears the door close, looking up at Langa as he gracefully moves to stand right under a light, his features being beautifully captured by the essence of the room; making him look much more attractive. Reki's face turns a dark red as he casts his gaze down, realising that the room is getting to him and making him think such things as Langa's attractiveness and how good he looks bathed in pink- his thoughts are cut off as weight is added to the bed and Langa is suddenly beside him.
"So, Reki, what does one do in here? It's calming, do we just sleep?" Reki blinks, dumbfounded at what Langa just said, is he serious? "Langa... this is a Love Hotel, what do you think we- I mean, people do in here?" Langa shrugs in response, causing Reki to deadpan, "You can't be serious." "I am, why, is there a bigger purpose to this room?" "Dude, it's for... couple activities, get me?" Langa's innocent face almost seems tormenting to Reki's view as Reki couldn't tell if Langa is being oblivious or messing with him. "Oh." "That's it?! Just "Oh"?!" Reki throws his arms up in exasperation, mouth falling open as he refuses to believe what he's hearing. "Yeah. Oh. I'm not as dumb as you think, Reki, I'm just not this type of person." "This type of person?" Reki tilts his head as Langa turns to look at him, a serious look in his aqua eyes; something Reki only sees during beefs and when he's skateboarding. "I'm asexual, Reki."
Everything stops, slows until nothing's moving, just Reki and Langa staring into each other's eyes. That word, that one word has Reki suddenly understanding everything at once - why Langa seemed so oblivious to suggestiveness and the like. It all makes sense now. Reki moves his gaze down once everything settles in his mind. His friend is ace how had he not seen it sooner? The signs are all there - everything from the cluelessness with ADAM and the not even knowing what a Love Hotel is about. Reki should have figured this all out sooner, how did it pass him by?
"You're not upset by that, are you? You look down." Langa's voice snaps Reki out of it and he turns to his boyfriend, smiling warmly to reassure him. "Langa, no, of course not! I would never be disappointed in you! I'm just! Surprised!" "How so?" Langa asks, tilting his head in a way Reki finds cute. "I... never thought of you like that, but it all makes sense. Thank you for telling me." "Thank you? Why thank you?" "Haha, because it's a private thing, dude! It's your coming out to me again, I'm touched you told me." "Then you're welcome, but sorry I didn't say it sooner." Langa smiles. "Psh, don't worry about it, but... may I ask you something?" "What is it?" "Are we still okay to kiss?"
Langa lets out a laugh, a nice strong laugh he hasn't released since he and Reki made up in the skate park. Langa and Reki have only been together for a week or so and they've shared a lot of hugs and kisses with each other, the kisses lasting three seconds at most as Langa isn't keen on anything longer as it's uncomfortable. The question seemed silly, yet adorable, and Langa couldn't help but pull Reki into a kiss, his hand moving to the back of Reki's neck to secure him in place. Reki melts into it immediately, resting a hand on Langa's shoulder and smiling like an idiot, pleased with Langa's answer.
Langa moves away moments later, moving his hand to Reki's cheek to gently caress his skin, thumb brushing over one of Reki's more prominent freckles. "Of course we are, Reki, kisses are fine, make outs are not." With a smile on his face, Reki nods with obvious excitement. "Deal!"

Kiss It Better
It was 1 am and I just wanted to write dumb skater boys kissing. I miss writing kisses and they should kiss and be happy and in love. They are in love, but they should also kiss. (Also I'm on mobile so I hope the read more works)
Edit: I forgot to put the AO3 link here Can y'all tell how exhausted I am?
Reki was no stranger to injuries. Really, it was concerning the number of times he had ended up in an emergency room after a skateboarding accident. But the pain barely fazed him anymore, especially not the minor pain of scrapes and bruises. At this point, it was a daily occurrence, either from bailing while skating or from ramming his hip into the corner of a table. The latter was a little more frustrating though.
“Dude, you don’t have to make such a big deal out of it!”
Big blue eyes stared blankly at Reki before diving back into his backpack, rummaging through it. Reki sighed as he leaned back against the concrete, propped up on his elbows, his head hanging back. Langa was being dramatic as ever, making a huge deal out of what was essentially nothing more than a little scrape on Reki’s left hand. Sure, there had been a bit of blood, but the cut was barely visible! It wasn’t anything to panic over. Yet, Langa had insisted that Reki stayed put, right where he had fallen, while he hauled the backpack back to Reki before plopping himself down onto the concrete. He sat cross-legged in front of Reki while he dug through the bag, muttering something about alcohol pads and bandages.
“Those band-aids are for you,” Reki said, his eyes fixated on the swirls of reds and oranges and purples in the sky. The sun had started to set, it seemed. “Since you can’t stand the sight of your own blood. Unlike you, I can handle it. It doesn’t bother me. I don’t need patching up.”
“And I say you do.”
The firmness of Langa’s voice drew Reki’s attention back to him, his piercing blue eyes sending shivers down the boy’s spine. There was something demanding in Langa’s voice, something protective, something… pleading? Langa was worried about him? Given the way he was looking at Reki, it had to be. And Reki couldn’t refuse him, not when he was looking like that.
“Fine!”
Reki huffed as he finally let his body flop down onto the ground. Langa seemed content with the answer, returning to his scavenger hunt through Reki’s bag. This meant that Reki would have to occupy himself without his skateboard since he wasn’t allowed to get onto it until he was fully patched up. Thankfully, the ever-changing clouds in the sky were distracting enough. A bunny. A dolphin. A flower. A-
“Found them!”
A blue sky stared back at Reki, startling the boy. Langa hovered above him, holding a few sealed bandages in front of Reki’s face, a boyish grin contrasting his usual reserved and serious expression. A boyish grin that made Reki’s inside twist, his throat turning dry. He knew he could touch, that Langa wasn’t some porcelain doll that would shatter under his calloused fingers. He knew he could touch, that Langa would never refuse him the pleasure of passing his fingers through the silky blue hair, the pleasure of touching that beautiful pale skin, the pleasure of feeling those soft lips, but still, Reki resisted. Still, Reki held back.
He pressed his palm to Langa’s chest, pushing him away ever so slightly as he pushed himself up on his elbows once more, his eyes avoiding Langa’s general direction.
“Again, I don’t actually need them. The scrapes will be gone in the morning; no use in wasting band-aids on that.”
“But I want to do it for you.” A beat of silence. Then Langa was ducking his head, the blue silk falling in his face and drawing Reki’s eyes back to him. “You know, since you always patch me up after I bail? I want to do that for you. I want to take care of you, Reki.”
Oh! Reki’s heart skipped a beat. Oh, now that was adorable.
How was Reki supposed to turn Langa away when he sounded like that? Looked like that? How could Reki refuse Langa who seemed so small, so vulnerable, and oh so adorable? It was simply impossible. So Reki gave in, gave in like he always did because it was Langa asking and Langa could get him to do anything.
“Fine! Fine!” Reki sat up, presenting his scraped hand to a starry-eyed Langa. “But only because you’re cute.”
“No!” Was that a pout? “You’re the cute one.”
Reki couldn’t help but giggle at the boy. To think that the stoic and socially awkward boy he had met only a little over a year ago could end up being an absolute dork, a dork pouting because he was called cute. Reki never would have believed it if someone had told him that this would be his normal. Reki never would have believed it if someone had told him that Langa would turn out to be this dorky yet adorable boyfriend. His dorky yet adorable boyfriend.
“Well? Are you going to patch me up or are you gonna stare at me all wide-eyed until the scrapes disappear on their own?”
Langa blinked a few times before quickly turning his attention to Reki’s outstretched hand, a ghost of a touch fluttering over the scrapes. Hesitantly, he glanced between Reki’s face and his hand before carefully pulling out an alcohol swab from the makeshift first-aid kit Reki carried everywhere he went. It was pretty obvious that Langa was not in his comfort zone, not used to be the one cleaning wounds. His hands shook ever so slightly as he wiped Reki’s hands clean, but it was the gesture that counted. It didn’t have to be perfect because as long as it was from Langa, then Reki would smile ever so softly as he watched him put on a band-aid with the utmost concentration. It was the kindness and the care that had Reki fall a little more in love with the boy in front of him. It was the little things that made his heart melt.
“And,” Langa pressed one last band-aid to Reki’s palm, his long fingers passing over the fabric before curling around Reki’s, “all done. All clean.”
“Thanks, man.”
As Reki pulled his hand back, Langa’s grip tightened as he tugged the hand back towards him, surprising Reki. He felt his whole face heat up as Langa planted a kiss right in the middle of his palm, slow and careful. Reki barely felt the kiss, but he could see it happening. And he could feel it in his face, the fire that had ignited in his cheeks, in his ears, in his brain. And when Langa’s eyes met Reki’s, lips still pressed against the calloused tanned skin, a smile played on his pretty lips, a smile that drove Reki crazy.
“Kissing it better,” Langa clarified. “You always insist on the magic of kissing it better.”
“You…”
Reki huffed, finally managing to pull his hand back and holding it defensively to his chest. Langa knew what he doing to Reki. He knew that he was the reason why Reki’s face must have matched his hair. He was fully aware that it was entirely his fault and the bastard still had the audacity of looking smug about it.
Reki felt his stomach flip as Langa crawled over him, his weight in Reki’s lap while his arms caged the boy. Something glinted in those blue eyes, something Reki had never seen before. Something that terrified him, but also strangely… exciting?
“Well,” Langa licked at his lips as he glanced down at Reki’s lips, sending an electric shock down the boy’s back, “I could always give you a real kiss if you like.”
Reki’s mind short-circuited at the thought of having Langa’s hot mouth against his. He wanted, he wanted it so badly, but his body tensed at the mere thought of it. He wanted, he wanted with fiber of his body, but he shouldn’t. He couldn’t.
“I’ll be real good, I promise.”
“Okay!” Reki half-shouted in embarrassment. He had felt his eyes go wide at Langa’s suggestive tone. He had felt the twist in his gut. His face, his whole body burned as he pressed his hands to Langa’s mouth, pushing him away. Langa laughed against his hand, pretty and muffled. “Man, you can’t just say that to me! You-! I-! Dude! No!”
Reki’s hands dropped onto his lap, squeezed between his thighs while Langa straightened out, still sitting on Reki’s lap. He was laughing, hearty and unguarded, which made Reki’s heart flip. His face was also flushed, his pale skin tinted with reds and pinks. He was so beautiful. Langa was just so beautiful.
“I’m kidding, I’m kidding,” he managed to huff out, finally calming his laughter. “I didn’t mean to embarrass you.”
Something twisted in Reki once more, though this time it felt more guilty than anything. He just wasn’t particularly good with PDA. Sure, he knew he was an extremely tactile person, his hand constantly brushing against Langa’s, their shoulders bumping as they walked side by side, but everything he did, it could be interpreted as just bros being good ol’ platonic buddies. He had always been a touchy-feely person, especially with Langa, but still, it wasn’t easy being affectionate in a romantic sense. Just holding hands made his hands all sweaty and gross, his nerves getting the best of him. And god forbid they actually kissed in public-! No, Reki wasn’t ready for that. It was just too much. Just the thought was overwhelming him.
“Sorry.” Langa’s voice had gone quiet as he shifted on Reki’s lap. Reki could see he was reluctant to move but ready to do so regardless. “I really didn’t mean to…”
“S’fine, dude. I’m just… public.”
The wind caught in Langa’s hair, pushing it out of his face as he quickly glanced around the dark skatepark. How was he so effortlessly beautiful? How was Langa so damn beautiful all the freaking time? How was it that even under the shitty streetlamp, he still looked like a prince straight out of a fairy-tale? And when he looked at Reki like he was also beautiful, as if he were the only person in the world, it made him melt. Those blue eyes were only for him. Only Kyan Reki would ever get to look into them like this, see the way they sparkled like snowflakes under a bright sun.
“There’s no one around?”
Oh. Was that hope in Langa’s eyes? In his voice? Was it desire? Want? Need? Langa who, despite being reckless and shameless, was always so reserved and good, did he really want to kiss Reki that badly? And since there was no one around… Maybe it would be alright? It wasn’t like they would be interrupted or caught. No one came around this part of town, especially not at this hour.
Reki’s eyes skirted over the deserted skatepark once last time before finding Langa’s eyes once more.
“Just one.”
“Really?” Excitement, that’s what made Langa’s voice just a tad higher than usual.
“You get one kiss. That’s it.”
A grin broke across Langa’s face once more, a grin that made him glow. “Isn’t that what you always say?” Reki sent Langa a look of disapproval to which he answered by putting his hands up defensively. “Fine, fine, just one. If you can stop.”
Reki sighed at the boy before tugging him closer by the collar of his shirt. “Just shut up and kiss me.”
A breathless laugh broke from Langa’s lips before pressing them to Reki’s. Langa was like a drug; his kisses were the most addicting thing Reki had ever come across and it only took one for him to be hooked. His taste filled Reki, his sweetness hazing Reki’s mind. It wasn’t the first time he kissed Langa – it had already been weeks since their first kiss, clumsy in the middle of a shitty movie – but it didn’t mean it didn’t feel completely new each time. It had been weeks since that first kiss, but Reki just couldn’t get enough of his boyfriend’s mouth, of his kisses, of his touch. Especially not when Langa was licking at the seam of Reki’s lips, asking to be let in.
Everything happened in a blissful daze: the arms wrapping around Langa’s neck, the beckoning him closer if that were even possible, the slight fumbling to get comfortable, and the falling back onto the concrete, legs tangling as they always did. Sure, the cold ground wasn’t nearly as comfortable as a mattress, but with Langa’s arms acting like a pillow for Reki’s head, it didn’t matter. Everything was good, so good. It was so good, the feeling of Langa’s short, hot pants between the kisses. It was so good, the mumbling against each other's mouths, their names filling the little air between them. But nothing beat having their lips pressed together, wanting, needing the other. Nothing could ever beat that feeling.
Reki wasn’t proud of the whimper that left his lips as Langa pulled back completely, sitting up. The smirk was a cruel temptation. Langa was no fool; he knew damn well that he was torturing Reki as he shifted in his lap, his whole weight pressed into Reki’s thighs.
“You said one kiss, so,” Langa shrugged, lips pressed in a thin line.
“That was more than one, you fucking tease,” Reki muttered as he propped himself up on his elbows for what felt like the hundredth time that evening.
“Pulling out the big, bad words, huh?” A smirk pulled at the corner of his mouth as he leaned in to press a chaste kiss to Reki’s lips. Another whimper. Maybe even a moan. Reki wasn’t sure; he just knew he wanted more. “Wanna come over instead? Get some food, put on a movie, probably not watch the movie at all but it doesn’t matter since my mom isn’t-!”
“You stopped kissing me because you’re hungry?”
Laughter fell from Reki’s lips like the stars against the mid-August sky as his forehead hit Langa’s shoulder. He should have known. Langa had seemed hungry for both love-filled kisses and actual food.
Instinctively, Reki’s arms wrapped around the body against which he was pressed, feeling the light rumble of laughter and potentially of an empty stomach against his own body. Langa was warm. He was comfortable. He was safe. Langa was… home.
“Can we watch Spirited Away in your bed? No offense man, but your couch is shit to make out on.”
“You…” Langa shifted, causing Reki to peel himself off of him and look up at him. “You want to watch a kid’s movie while we make out?”
“It’s a good movie! And I’ve seen it like a hundred times, so I won’t be tempted to actually watch it.”
“No. I know you.” Langa’s hands found their way to Reki’s cheeks, holding his face ever so gently. “You’re gonna end up watching it. Again. For the third time this month.”
“Look! Look, it’s not my fault it constantly plays at my place! Chihiro just… she likes the movie because the main character has the same name as her. And I like it because… it’s good, man. Don’t hate on a good movie!”
Langa inhaled sharply, his eyes closed and his hands pressed against his lips. He looked like he was praying to whatever God was out there to hear him. “I can’t believe my boyfriend wants to make out with me while his little sister’s favorite movie plays in the background.”
“Well,” Reki shrugged and flopped back down on the ground, crossing his arms behind his head, “we could also not make out, I don’t care. It would be your loss, man.”
“No!” Langa was once more caging Reki with his arms, but this time, it wasn’t Reki that was panicking. “There is no fucking way I’m letting you off the hook that easily. You-!”
It was always so much fun cutting Langa off with kisses when he got a little too chatty. Every time, it would catch him off guard, his eyes growing three sizes for a fraction of a second before squeezing them shut. And his pale cheeks always turn a bright red, a color that, surprisingly, didn’t often blossom under his skin. Langa was almost always the one initiating the kisses, so having Reki be the one pushing himself up to catch his lips, it always left him a mess. Reki’s surprise kisses turned Stoic Langa, Cold Langa, Ice Prince Langa into this mess of dork, this stuttering and blushing mess of boyfriend.
Reki traced the line of Langa’s jaw, his eyes following the movement of his fingers. He had quickly learned that Langa melted at the touch, which made it a lot easier to convince him to do whatever it was Reki wanted. “You pick the food and I pick the movie or no more kisses for you.”
“Can it at least be Howl’s Moving Castle? I know you like that one too, but at least I won’t have the image of your little sisters seared into my mind while I try to kiss you senseless.”
“Fine, fine.” Reki’s fingers hooked Langa’s chin, beckoning him closer to press another kiss to his mouth. “I love you.”
“Love you too, Reki.” One kiss. “So much.” Two kisses. “Infinitely.”

Renga Fantasy AU
I've seen lost of fantasy Au's with Langa being the prince and Reki either the cute gardener, the adorable captain of the army, or any other common role that will be the prince's love interest... but what about Prince Reki?
I can see it like this:
Joe is the head of the cook and Reki's paternal figure number #1.
Cherry is the first advisor of the royal family and Reki's paternal figure #2.
Shadow is a guard and probably Reki's main bodyguard, he acts like he is annoyed by Reki's too energic and loud personality but in reality he is a big softie and has a weakness for the young and gentle prince, he is Reki's older sibling figure.
Miya is the son of a noble family, probably training for either being court sorcerer or knight, he is Reki's closest friend despite being younger, he sees Reki as his old brother and is very protective of him because in his opinion (and in everybody else's opinion for that matter) the redhead is too nice for his own good and someone needs to take care of him for god's sake! Of course he will deny it for ever and still be the tsundere he is.
Langa can be the son of a merchant and a doctor from another kingdom, after his dad dies his mother decides to go back to her home in the Kyan's kingdom (Okinawa), because of her reputation as a good doctor she gets a job in the palace as court physician. Langa stays with her at the palace and he could be either training for knight, physician or maybe sorcerer too but he hasn't decided yet, or even training for advisor under Cherry's wing. For the time being he just study with Reki.
Now in this au's Prince Langa main trouble is he feeling lonely or incomplete, Reki being the sun he is complement him and his trouble is of course his self confidence, I want to keep it that way even if Reki is the prince now.
So Langa feel not sad anymore but definitely off since his dad died, he used to love traveling with him, try new things, he loved the most all the things he could learn from the items he got to sell, he wanted to be a merchant like him but now he is not sure anymore, that's why that for now he is just studying along with the prince as he decides what he want to do with his life, he is not unhappy but he can't help but feel there is something missing, that's it until he meets the ray of sunshine that is Prince Reki, the royal is gentle and unlike other royal member he has met (due both if his parents jobs) he doesn't treat the rest with superiority, he traits everyone the same, with kindness, a warm and genuine smile, he actually doesn't act like how he was taught princes are supposed to act, he is loud and very energetic, he is polite and all, but he doesn't emanate an aura of someone to be afraid off or someone you feel intimidate with, he makes you feel like you are with a friend, he will talk and talk enthusiastically to no end... unless you show him you were bored, which was not rare to happen, with the prince being too kind and easygoing is was easy for others to forget he was the prince. But Langa could hear him for hours and never get bored, Reki showed him the palace and different places of the kingdom, he show him his drawings, all his crafts, the prince was incredible with smithy, he designed most of the best warriors' armors, as well as some of the innovative artifacts that helped so much in the kingdom, he showed him his passion for his realm and his passion for his hobbies, he was amazing... it's such a shame the prince is not capable to see it himself.
Reki for his part, he is the genius, creative sunshine we know. He is energetic and almost all the people loves him. Almost, because there is still the royal and nobles assholes that think he won't be a proper ruler because of his personality. As well as the people that get fed up with his energy. Those all are the people less liked in the kingdom. Though is really a trouble that the royal ones hold such power, because they really chose violence when it comes to Reki's self confidence. Especially because the most deep root for his insecurities comes from no other than his passed away father.
The king was... not a good man, the kingdom was not in ruins but the people were not happy, his family was not either, he would lash out to his wife and daughters, telling them they were good just to show of, to serve him, he was abusive with this staff on the palace and to his people, but who got the worst treatment was the young prince, since a child Reki was unquiet, loud, energic, totally the opposite to a centered, reserved and serious prince, he was also too kind with everyone no matter how much he told him he was above all the people, but Reki refused to be rude or mean to anyone, the only people that he lashed out to were the rude and cruel royals that abused of their power and were mean to people with no status or power. The king ruled with an iron fist and with stronger severity he tried to rise his heir, but Reki's golden heart was always stronger, however it didn't protected him from the abuse, the hard punishments and the constant reminders of how a failure he was, how he was worthless, how he was a mistake, how easy it would be for him to replace him if not were for the fact he needed a boy of royal blood to be his heir and he had no one, how annoying he was, that there was something wrong with him. And all the people that thought the same as his father had no seconds thoughts to remind him of the same in every. Single. Opportunity.
It was such a relief when the king died from a mysterious illness, and if anyone ever thought about it as a coup from the queen and the royal staff? Well nobody blamed them, but that was just a rumor and they were fine without him anyways.
Indeed, after the king's death the Kingdome went through a prosperity that haven't been seen in years. Despite what the king and his lackyes believed the Queen was actually a very well skilled ruler, she fixed the mess her former husband made and bring a new era to her people, she made new allies, she cleaned the corrupted government and brought new opportunities to the kingdom of Okinawa, the people were happy again. And her son, his ideas for artifacts to make certain tasks easier, his enthusiasm about cultural development, not mention that despite what his father said Reki was really smart, a total pride for his tutors even if his chaotic nature gave them green hairs, also his ideas to improve the army of the Kingdome, his ideas helped a lot to their realm's development. Many people called him the inventor prince.
However there were some royal asses that were not happy with him, there were invertors for that, there were artists, musicians, artisans for the cultural things, a prince shouldn't be look being so friendly and informal to commoners, shouldn't be so loud and idiot.
Not to mention the people that just... were fed up with his chit chat, and okay, they get it, Reki's personality could be overwhelming and even obnoxious to some people, but they needed to be so rude about it? The fact that must of this people were royal visitors didn´t help at all, Reki just felt he was embarrassing his mother and the Kingdome, no matter how many time she and the royal advisor Kaoru told him otherwise, or the fact that those people were usually not good allies at all.
Years of abuse and constantly hearing how a waste you were are hard to heal.
But, the love and support of the people that truly loved him helped Reki a lot, it was a long path but he was getting there. Though, the person that were really close to him, and you know who these persons are, know that sometimes the thoughts gets too loud on Reki's head, but they are there for him, and are happy to see that everyday the sunshine prince is doing better and better.
Well, and then of course the boys met and all of that, they help each other to find what was missing, to discover how much loved and worth they are.
The Queen and the court physician ship them, because this is my fucking au and I say love is love, you are who you are, no labels :)
Kaoru, Kojiro, Miya and Hiromi are definitely fondly exasperate with their mutual pining and just want them to just kiss already and spare their poor souls out of their misery.
About Ad*m... I don't know yet honestly.
In one hand I'm so tempted to make him not existing in this au. On the other hand he could be a major villain, maybe a lord wanting to make coup to the kingdome with Tadashi being a spy loyal to Queen Kyan. And I really want Langa to beat the shit out if him for messing up with his sun, but well, idk.
Any thoughts about this? Feel free to ask! 👀

Sk8 Character Thoughts
Yeah, so y’all have to deal with me venting my latest obsession, lol. Sorry to everyone who followed me for other stuff, I will get back to it eventually. ^^;
I was gonna write out individual walls of text for everyone to be fair, but I decided that’s too much work and I’d go crazy before I finished (plus I’m feeling guilty for neglecting my fanfiction writing), so I’m just gonna bullet point some of the random things I think about various skaters (opinions and theories).
The order is the approximate order of which I like characters, though it’s not a strict ranking. I like most of the characters in the show to some extent.
Tumblr media
Adam (Shindo Ainosuke)
I’ve already said a lot about him, you can check it out here and here. I’ll probably end up saying more about him before the show ends, too. xD
Yes, he is an absolutely awful person, but that’s what makes him amazing.
I will say that he needs a better costume designer. He looks like a clown. It looks like something that he designed when he was, like, five years old.
The mask is great though. <3
Tumblr media
Cherry Blossom (Sakurayashiki Kaoru)
I love the super analytical types, but I also feel like Carla is a crutch for him. He’s a great skater, but if he didn’t have Carla, I don’t think he’d be able to compete at the level of the other top skaters. But all the more props to him for finding a way that he could compete at that level.
He totally had a thing for Adam before. But I think that even then, Adam was too fucked up to be able to have a romantic relationship, so nothing came of it. Because if Adam did actually learn what real love was like rather than confusing abuse for love, I don’t think he would have turned out the way he did.
It’s pretty clear that until he gets smacked by Adam, he’s still looking up to Adam and clinging to what they had before. And it bleeds into his non-skating life as well: when he did his calligraphy demonstration, I think that he hoped Adam would see it, which was why he picked that specific phrase and explained it--to let Adam know that it wasn’t too late to make amends (not that Adam would have given a fuck even if he did see it).
I love his character design as a teen, and I’m sad that he’s become more respectable-looking (though still hot af) as an adult. I’m a sucker for guys with long hair in anime/manga.
He is absolutely a weeb. He’s made an AI assistant who he calls Carla, which creeps out Joe (in a cute, lovable way, not in an Adam way), and he incorporates her into almost all aspects of his life. Like, he just happens to have an AI-augmented wheelchair handy, why?
He also dresses up like a ninja when he’s skating, goes around in a kimono in his daily life, etc. etc. Okay, maybe the kimono can be excused since he’s a calligrapher (though I’m pretty sure that’s not the norm regardless, except for maybe if the artist is at some sort of exhibition?), but people’s costumes seem to show off who they really are beneath the mask they put on for society. So Cherry secretly wants to be a ninja. xD
I’m not on any specific ship, but if I had to pick one to board, it would be Matchablossom.
Can we please have a spinoff that’s just about Adam, Cherry, and Joe when they’re teenagers?
Tumblr media
Snow (Hasegawa Langa)
Frankly, Langa’s only up this high because I love his dynamic/rivalry with Adam. If Adam didn’t exist, he’d be below Joe, maybe below Tadashi.
Not that I don’t like Langa, but he’s just an oblivious skating nerd. He’s skilled and passionate, but I don’t really feel that he really stands out as a standalone character. He’s more of a foil for other characters (mostly Adam and Reki).
I guess what stands out the most to me is his ability to improvise when he’s falling behind, since his skill level is understandably lower than most of the other people he skates against. Like finding alternative pathways to the finish line versus Shadow and Miya, or using Joe’s strength to propel him forward. Or just, like, flying off the edge of a cliff to take a shortcut. That too. xD
His snow motif is pretty cool. (No pun intended.)
And I won’t deny that he’s cute. He’s actually the reason I started watching, because I saw some fanart of him and got curious. Came for the Langa, stayed for the Adam. <3
I feel bad for him for having a jealous jerk as basically his only friend though.
Tumblr media
Joe (Nanjo Kojiro)
He’s such a teddy bear. <3
Joe’s the heart to Cherry’s brain, and I adore the way they balance each other out. I love Vitriolic Best Buds.
What surprised me, though, is that Joe seems to have a better understanding of Adam’s current character than Cherry does, since Cherry is so precise and analytical. Though the flashback clarified that some since it’s pretty obvious that Cherry is/was biased where Adam is concerned. Sure, Joe was also friends with Adam back then, but it seems that Cherry was the one most star-struck by Adam.
But Joe obviously knows and accepts that Adam’s changed, unlike Cherry, though he probably doesn’t know the reason why. He seemed to be expecting something to happen during the race, so it didn’t surprise him when it did, though he was sad/disappointed by it. It seemed like he was concerned and wanted to warn Cherry before his race (which is super cute), and when everyone else was flinching from seeing the assault on Cherry, Joe didn’t look away. I don’t think he knew exactly what Adam was going to do (I don’t think anyone did, lol), but he knew Adam was going to do something.
I don’t think he was serious when he said the reason Adam is avoiding their beefs is because he’s afraid he’ll lose, though. Yeah, he wants to race Adam, and he wants to win, but I think he’s more grounded when it comes to Adam, so he probably knows that Adam would beat him if it came down to it. Whereas Cherry legitimately thought he could win if Adam held back.
Also, his skateboard wheels are ridiculous. How do they even work?
Tumblr media
Snake (Kikuchi Tadashi)
He got an ask post, yay, so not going to rehash it here.
I really hope that Adam realizes at some point that Tadashi is the only person who really knows and understands him, and comes to appreciate everything that Tadashi’s done for him.
Tumblr media
Miya (Chinen Miya)
Such a brat, omg.
I get that he’s a kid, and kids are brats, and so it’s a fairly realistic depiction. I just hate kids. >.>
Pretty much the only time I’ll really like a child character is when they’re precocious as fuck and not child-like at all, which I get defeats the purpose, but that’s me.
Brattiness aside, he is skilled and appreciates Reki standing up to Adam on his behalf, so much so that he’s willing to spend his time training a “slime” just so Reki doesn’t get completely crushed by Adam. And he’s also willing to work with Langa to teach him the most difficult trick in skating (the Caspar Slide) for the same reason.
Ultimately, he’s a good kid, but he’s had some bad experiences that make it harder for him to trust people since he’s afraid they’ll leave him. He’s still willing to try, though, if people will give him a chance.
Also, the one ep when they go on vacation and Miya pretends Joe is his daddy (and Cherry is his mommy, rofl--hi Matchablossom!) to drive away the women Joe’s hitting on... hilarious.
Tumblr media
Kyan Reki
An even bigger brat.
Again, yeah, he’s a teenager and teens are “just like that,” but I hate those kinds of characters.
Just because his friend is a skating genius, he gets all pissy and stops being friends with him? Showing up to cheer Langa on and then completely running away doesn’t redeem him in my eyes. I get that he’s disappointed that he’s not capable of skating at the level of the top skaters and frustrated that Langa surpassed him so easily, but that’s no excuse to take it out on Langa (or anyone else).
And everyone complains about Adam being possessive, but they just gloss over the fact that Reki repeatedly tries to force Langa to promise to not skate against Adam, even roping in their manager, when he knows that Langa likes accepting challenges and has fun doing them. He just wants to keep Langa to himself, and he’s jealous as fuck that Langa is obsessed with skating against Adam.
Langa even explicitly tells him that he’s not racing Adam just because he’s upset about what Adam did to Reki, but because he wants to do it. Which is the exact same fucking reason Reki gives for not listening to Joe and Miya, and Langa supports his decision then. Why can’t Reki do the same?
Yes, he’s traumatized because his friend who introduced him to skating was seriously injured and had to quit skating, and he got hurt skating against Adam, but just like for Adam: YOUR TRAUMA/BACKSTORY DOES NOT JUSTIFY YOUR BEHAVIOR.
Plus, the whole “we’ll never disappear from your sight” that he told Miya? Psych!
Like, seriously. He knows the kid has abandonment issues because people leave him because he’s too good at what he does, and then he just goes ahead and poofs, putting both Miya and Langa through the same exact fucking thing.
Though I’m sure that the power of friendship will give him a miraculous recovery and he’ll build a new board for Langa so Langa can beat Adam before Adam gets hauled off to jail. It’ll probably be a cheesy make-up where Langa says something about how he can only use Reki’s boards, so it’s like they’re skating together when he races or whatever.
I do respect his ability to observe other skaters and make boards that are perfectly suited to them, though. And he knows that he’d be good in that support role. But he wants to be the hero, so he’s suffering from eighth grader syndrome and lashing out because reality doesn’t conform to his wishes.
Tumblr media
Shadow (Higa Hiromi)
Just fucking die already, ‘kay?
I don’t even know what to say. He’s all caught up in his “antihero” complex or whatever (I don’t even remember if that’s the right term, and I don’t give a fuck), and he’s got a nasty personality. Like burning Reki’s board or threatening to have a guy tattoo “Dumpster Slut” above his girlfriend’s name.
You really expect me to believe that he’d treat his manager respectfully if they started dating when he does something like that? His polite florist persona is such a sham.
And he’s a shit skater. How the hell is he in the top 8? If they can throw in a random guy we’ve never seen before (Harry), then they could have just as well put in some other trash mob instead of Shadow, who only didn’t get knocked out in the quarterfinal round because he was racing a nobody.
Imo, all of his “cute” little tricks like throwing fireworks at his opponent or shining a laser into their eyes is worse than what Adam does. Once he does that, he relinquishes all control over the situation, so anything could happen, such as his opponent crashing into a wall or falling off a cliff, which could result in serious injuries or even death. On the other hand, Adam always remains in control when he’s trying to throw off his opponent by forcing them to dance with him and freaking them the fuck out by pushing their limits. Even when he’s holding Reki’s head about an inch above the ground, he won’t let Reki brain himself on a rock or something. And even when he smacks Cherry with his skateboard, his attack leaves Cherry conscious and so lightly injured (relative to what could have been) that he doesn’t even need to stay in the hospital. (I don’t think he actually needs a wheelchair, other than probably being a bit woozy from a concussion, maybe. And maybe not even that if Joe isn’t concerned enough to wake him up/keep him from being unconscious.) Yeah, Adam fucks with his opponents, but if they can get over it, they can get back on a board. There’s a good chance that won’t happen if they get in an accident caused by Shadow, other than for anime logic.
“What about Adam’s Love Hugs??” What about them? Yes, he’s not holding on to his opponents to control their falls, but the point of it is to make them flinch and fall backwards, against the line of motion. That naturally will decrease the severity of their physical injuries, unlike when Reki and Harry fall off the course at full speed versus Shadow.
The only reason he doesn’t have a higher body count than Adam (or even a literal body count) is plot convenience, since he’s not the villain.

Sk8 the Infinity EP12
aka: I HAD FUN OKAY
Oh okay Adam, really getting serious with that fancy footwork out in the rain now aren’t you?
Please tell me he didn’t say he needed a suit for a funeral..
I’m getting sad watching the OP. I can’t believe we’re at the last episode already.
Yay Reki is finally getting around to fixing Langa’s board.
I’m happy everyone is off to watch his beef against Adam despite their injuries.
“And.. after the finals are over..” Reki! What did you say! The two of you are being all cute in the back of the car I wanna know what was said!
Adam put a gravestone at the finish line.. oh no.
The usual course got sealed off due to the storm so now they gotta race on this crazy, dangerous one instead.. great.
Adam’s board is even shaped like a coffin. This dude is going all out with the death theme tonight, just look at his new outfit.
Oooh just listen to that song though!
Oh wow they both took that jump and somehow Adam got more air than Langa.
The bastard is gonna love hug? Here? On this narrow as hell track?
Ah fuck! He switched right into a full swing kiss!
My boy with that smooth dodge yesss! Although Adam doesn’t waste time and tries again.. but results in another miss thank god.
He’s really trying to kill Langa by causing the stalactites to fall..
He.. broke his board and it changed into a cross shape.
What’s with this odd world again?
Langa needs to get out of that zone before he makes a stupid mistake.
Oh come on! That’s barely a bridge!
Shit! Langa! Snap out of it boy, you’re falling!
Reki put the word “fun” on the bottom of Langa’s new board, aww.
That’s such an intense cliff to be skating down though.
Aw he saw a vision of his father!
Okay I know they’re from Canada and figured they must have spoke English, but I wasn’t expecting to hear it so that caught me off guard.
Oh.. of course Langa wants to help Adam see that skating is fun again.
Whoa! Whoa! Chill! The hell is happening now with the crazy bastard flying around like this??
Langa what do you have planned?
Oh lord.. that was some collision.
They’re both down?
OH but Langa stands first!
And.. asks Adam to skate just like Tadashi did to him when they were younger.
Adam’s mask fell off but is he truly good now or are we still a psycho?
It looks like a normal race at least.. hurray for no more murderous intent.
Ahh they’re so evenly matched.
Is Reki gonna be waiting for him at the end?
Y’all my heart is beating I’m so nervous and excited to see this finish.
AAaahHH! Langa WINS!!
AWWW! He literally jumped into Reki’s arms!! YESS!
Even Miya is gonna call Langa a hero.
Big group hug for Langa! I love these boys!
Oh they’re playing the ending song over the final scenes, how mean!
Hahaha, Sketchy fell asleep on Carla and Cherry is so not pleased.
Oh my god, Adam parachutes down to the party and gifts Langa more roses. Dude you are so extra!
Aww Langa and his mom visit Oliver’s grave! No doubt to tell him all about skateboarding.
Reki teaching his younger sisters how to skateboard too!!
OH NO!! Shadow’s boss had a boyfriend this entire time! Poor guy..
Pfftt Cherry’s calligraphy note to Joe! He even called him “little Kojiro” and painted his face.
Aw did Miya’s old friend just say hi to him? Look at his precious smile! Ahh!
“You are my dog for the rest of our lives.” Oh my, Tadashi you’re in trouble.. although it seems like he’s completely fine with that.
Bruh they’re ending it with Langa just like how Reki started the first episode.
“My happiness is..” as the camera shows us Reki.. HELLO?? Go ahead and tell me that’s not cute as hell!
I guess having a final race together is what the two of them were talking about back in the car earlier.
Aah but don’t end there! I wanna see them actually race together damn it!
I don’t know what to feel. Every character was fun to watch, the action was great, and it had so many fun and suspenseful moments too. I want more! But luckily the dub still has a few more episodes to go through, so nice!

Baked With Love
Here it is, the promised 8k of pure tooth-rotting fluff

In all the time that Reki had known Langa, he had never seen him hesitate. From that first day when Langa had taped his feet to a skateboard, he had always jumped headfirst into whatever it was that he wanted to do. He had never hesitated, always going for it and hoping for the best, so seeing him stare between the two jars he had placed on the table, brows furrowed and frowning, it was strange and somewhat endearing. Langa who never cared for consequences was hesitating between two jars of flour, face pulled in concentration rather than his usual spacey and lost expression.
“Dude, they’re both just flour,” Reki said, his chin resting on his folded arms against the kitchen table across from Langa. Both jars had been marked “flour,” but Langa insisted that there was a difference between them. He insisted that his mother used one for her baking while the other was kept for normal cooking.
“I know there’s a difference,” Langa said, brows still pinched, nose scrunching as he groaned. “They’re not the same. They can’t be.”
“Again, we’re just making cookies. Flour is flour and that’s all we need. Doesn’t have to be that baker’s fancy stuff.”
Langa sighed, finally settling for the jar on his right. “If you say so.”
“And I do. I guess you can say I’m a bit of an expert at making cookies.”
Reki grinned, laughing to himself as Langa nodded. Despite it being more of a joke than anything, Langa did trust Reki when it came to baking cookies. He had made hundreds if not thousands of them in his life and Langa always loved watching him whenever he would make. Langa had always been very vocal about his adoration of watching Reki work, be it in his workshop or in the kitchen. And, despite his burning face at the endless praise, Reki always loved the company. He loved having someone with him as he rambled away, his hands doing all the work.
While Reki loved baking with his sisters, it wasn’t the same as when it was just him and Langa. With his family, they were always bustling around the kitchen, bumping into each other, fighting to see who would break the egg – Koyomi won most of the time – and arguing about who would get the bowl and who would get the spoon once the cookies had been put to bake – the twins more often than not shared the bowl while Koyomi and Reki split what was left on the spoon. With his sisters, it was screams and giggles and grabbing at each other. And it was a lot of cleaning, which Reki found himself doing alone most of the time. Baking with his sisters was giving his mother a break, letting her sit down for an hour without worrying about the twins getting bored or asking for her attention. Baking with his sisters was just another activity he did with his family, being the good big brother he knew he had to be. Baking with his sister was Reki trying his best to be a good son, even if he would have rather be in his room or out skating with Langa.
But baking with Langa, it was calm and intimate, a little slice of heaven. It was quiet, low sunlight filtering into the kitchen as Langa sat on the counter, his legs swinging as he listened to Reki’s chatter with a content smile. Baking with Langa was muffled giggles and kisses in the middle of the night, with only the refrigerator light to light up their world. Baking with Langa was just… sweetness and domesticity. It always left Reki with a lightness in his heart, with the wish of baking cookies for Langa for the rest of his life.
Yet tonight, Reki was banned from working in the kitchen. Langa had insisted that he would be the one making the cookies all on his own. “You’re always making things for me,” he had said when Reki got ready to get to work. “I want to make something for you. I want to make these cookies for you, all on my own.”
And his face had glowed the moment Reki nodded, letting himself be pushed into the chair facing the kitchen. Langa, always so serious or spacey Langa, beautiful Langa with his boyish grin and his big, shiny blue eyes, had rarely seemed so excited. It wasn’t the same excitement as when he was on a skateboard, trying out new tricks or going up against strong skaters. Reki couldn’t quite explain the difference, but it was there. Langa seemed genuinely excited, not calculating in his excitement or expecting anything. It was an excitement that had a thousand butterflies blossom in Reki’s chest and stomach. It was an excitement that had him falling even more in love with Langa, childish, happy, and excited Langa.
“So, where do I start?”
Reki buried his face in his arms to muffle his laughter. He shouldn’t have been laughing – he knew Langa must have been pouting, not liking being laughed at – but he couldn’t help it. He couldn’t help it, even if he knew it wasn’t nice to be laughing at someone who was trying so hard to do something new, something nice, something for Reki, but then he was looking so cute, staring at Reki so expectantly, waiting for his instructions. Langa was waiting for Reki to guide him around his own kitchen. Langa always waited for Reki to explain to him new things.
“First things first-” Reki got up from his chair, laughter still lingering in his voice as he made his way to his boyfriend, his fingers slipping between the long, slender fingers he adored- “we tie your hair. I refuse to eat blue cookies.”
Langa tilted his head to the side. “What’s wrong with blue cookies? Sure, they look weird and- yeah, the person who made them was weird too, now that I think about it. Weird shit used to happen all the time in that school.”
Reki furrowed his eyebrows as he dragged Langa to the chair in which he had been sitting. “I meant your hair, dude. What the hell is a blue cookie? And why have you seen one? What kind of weird shit went down in Canada?”
Langa shrugged as he took a seat. “Public school. Was weird as fuck sometimes.”
Reki shook his head. There was no point in asking about that. From what he understood about Canadian public schools, it was a free-for-all of kids. From kids writing in sharpie on the floor next to the lockers to kids walking around with a bunch of stickers in their faces, things just sounded so weird. That and there was absolutely no consensus on how the education system worked throughout the country (something about provinces?) or even a consensus on language. Canada was weird, from what Reki understood. And the more Langa talked about whatever he saw, the more Reki felt terrified of Canadian kids.
Langa let himself be backed into the chair, trusting Reki as he always had. He only raised an eyebrow as Reki settled in his lap. But as soon as fingers were running through his hair, pulling it back to assess the situation, Langa melted, his head falling back with the motion. A content smile appeared on his pretty lips as his eyes shut.
“Don’t fall asleep on me, dude.”
“M’not…”
Reki chuckled, still racking his fingers through the silky blue hair. With Langa not paying attention to what he was doing, Reki knew he had free reign. He could do whatever he wanted with Langa’s hair, from childish pigtails like the twins to a low and messy ponytail to… well, whatever Reki wanted, really. And with that many choices, Reki hesitated. On one hand, he could make a fool out of Langa and laugh a little at him (not in a mean way! Just in a Langa-would-look-funny way), while on the other hand, he could try something new, something that would take time, more time for his fingers to be playing with every strand of hair, more time for him to be this close to Langa.
With a little contemplation and quick attempts to see what would hold Langa’s hair best, Reki settled on braiding. If done correctly, it would hold Langa’s hair back, keeping his bangs out of his face while he baked, and it would mean that Reki would have his fingers tangling with Langa’s hair longer than if he just pulled it back in a half ponytail. Reki had done enough braids in his life to know that they took more time and patience than ponytails or pigtails. He knew that Langa would melt under his touch, sighing contently as his hair was being played with, twisted into a braid.
Reki shifted in Langa’s lap, frowning and huffing as he let the hair fall from his fingers. Initially, getting comfortable on Langa’s lap had been an act of petty revenge, hoping to get him to blush the same way Reki had when Langa crashed on his lap a few days prior, but clearly, it hadn’t worked. Langa was just too cool for all of Reki’s tactics at making him feel embarrassed. Langa never turned red, except on rare occasions like when he first told Reki that he liked him or when he said ‘I love you’ for the first time. Langa was too cool for blushing, which Reki found terribly unfair, given how easy it was to get him to blush. Just a smile of Langa’s could get him to flush, nerves twisting in his stomach.
No matter how he looked at it, there was no way Reki was getting any work done from that angle. Not only was Langa extremely distracting, but there was also no good way to braid his hair back without being behind him. So Reki got up only to be pulled back down, Langa’s eyes snapping wide open, hands gripping Reki’s hips.
“Where you going?”
“I can’t tie your hair like this, you clingy baby. I’m not going far if that’s what you’re afraid of.”
“But you’re warm. Don’t go away?”
Reki chuckled as he tapped Langa’s nose. “You’re so clingy, you know that?” Langa’s pout was one of the cutest things Reki had ever seen. Langa’s childish dramatic displays were just so fun, so different from how he acted when his walls were up. “But I really gotta get up, dude. Otherwise, you’re never gonna get to those cookies.”
Langa finally gave in, grumbling a little as his grip on Reki loosened, just enough for him to slip away. His sour mood quickly faded away as Reki’s fingers found their way back into his hair, his content smile reappearing, his eyes falling shut once more. Langa might have been too cool to blush, but he still had his weaknesses.
Reki hummed as he twisted the blue hair away from Langa’s face, a braid on each side of his head before coming together in a ponytail at the back of his head. Strands poked out from the braids, too short to be braided back smoothly, but they held rather well as Reki tied them off with one of the many colorful elastics that decorated his wrists.
Those were a courtesy of Koyomi, an annoying little sister who always forgot to tie her hair until it was too late. After a few times of hearing her complain, Reki had gotten into the habit of carrying a few elastics around, which seemed to come in handy for everyone with relatively long hair around him. At first, he had stored them in his bag, then they had migrated to his pockets until they found their way around his wrists. Now, he was just known as that guy that carried hair ties around, which the girls in his class seemed to really take advantage of, asking him for elastics whenever they needed some. And Reki didn’t mind helping out, though it was a little annoying to never get them back. There were certain colors that he really liked having as they matched his hoodies, not that he would tell anyone that.
After one last assessment of his work, Reki grinned as his chin dropped onto Langa’s shoulder. It wasn’t the most comfortable position, his arm draped over Langa’s other shoulder, slightly crouched, but if it meant he could be close to Langa, then it was worth it.
“All done.”
Langa shifted ever so slightly, just enough to be looking at Reki rather than at the kitchen sink. He was smiling, that pretty smile that Reki loved so much.
“You should play with my hair more often.”
A light chuckled rumbled through Reki as he pressed a kiss to Langa’s shoulder. “You really like that, don’t you?”
“It feels nice. You’re good with your hands.”
It was an innocent remark. Reki knew that it had to be, because if it was Langa, there was no other option. There weren’t any dirty undertones to the remark, he knew that, but that didn’t stop the blush from exploding under Reki’s skin. There wasn’t any kind of raunchy joke in what Langa was saying, yet Reki still felt the twist in his gut as he straightened out, brushing off dust that he knew wasn’t there and tugging on the hem of his hoodie. Nervous laughter bubbled out of him, his eyes refusing to focus on anything.
“Right! Okay! So those cookies!”
Langa slowly turned to Reki, eyebrows pinches as he stared blankly. He hadn’t meant it like that, Reki knew that. Langa didn’t have a dirty mind. Langa was a good boy. Langa had never made a sex joke as far as Reki was aware, which meant that he wasn’t going to start now. Especially not when he was staring at Reki, looking so confused.
“What…?” His eyes snapped open, wider than Reki had ever seen in his life. His pale cheeks and ears turned a bright red as he waved his hands around frantically. “Wait! No! I didn’t mean-! I mean, I don’t know, but-!” Langa froze, his eyes squeezing shut as he tensed. He ducked his head as he always did when he embarrassed himself, but his bangs didn’t fall over his eyes as they usually did. There was no curtain protecting him from the outside world as he sat there, curled up on his chair, nails digging into the wood and his face pinched.
With a deep breath, Reki regained his composure. There was still that twist in his gut, that uncertainty, but he wasn’t going to let it linger. Not when Langa was so tense, looking so horrified by his accidental remark.
“S’okay, dude.” Langa’s eyes slowly fluttered open as Reki stroked his cheek tentatively, smiling softly at him. “It’s okay, I know what you meant. I just… I know.”
Despite the verbal reassurance, Langa did not relax. His nails still dug into the wooden chair, his ankles curling around one of the legs of the chair. He seemed so stiff that Reki couldn’t help but press a kiss to the corner of his mouth. Reki knew that he didn’t do it enough, that he didn’t initiate enough kisses or cuddles or anything remotely romantic. He always waited for things to happen, never chasing them, and Reki knew that Langa would have liked him to be a little less tense, a little less hesitant, a little less scared. It wasn’t on Langa to start everything, even if Reki was scared. Even if he was terribly afraid of doing something wrong. So maybe that was why he had pressed a kiss to Langa’s mouth, the touch making the boy melt against him, tension fading away slowly.
“Don’t worry about it. Really.” A small smile traced Langa’s lips as Reki pressed another quick peck to his mouth. “But you really should get back to those cookies. You know, if you want them ready before next week?”
Langa’s fingers curled around Reki’s, cold winter against Reki’s natural summer heat.
“Can you… Can you help me a bit?”
Reki nodded enthusiastically as he pulled Langa off his chair. It was so easy to grin around him, natural as breathing. And Reki loved helping. He loved feeling useful to those he cared about. He loved feeling like others could count on him, no matter what. So whatever Langa needed, Reki would be there. Whatever Langa needed him to do, Reki would do it with a grin.
“So, first step is,” Langa stared at his phone, scrolling up and down on the cookie recipe he had found earlier, “heat the oven.”
Reki leaned against the table and watched as Langa fiddled with the buttons and knobs of the oven, his whole face pinched in concentration. Reki felt the tightness in his chest, the butterflies crashing and fluttering against his heart. He felt all his emotions bubbling up in him, ready to spill out, spill until all he knew was Langa’s adorable concentrated expression, spill until all he knew was the sweetness of Langa’s chewed lips, spill until all he knew was Langa. Langa with his serious focus, messing with the oven as if it were a time machine that required the utmost precision to avoid the collapse of the whole universe.
“So, now that that’s done,” Langa straightened out and turned back to Reki, pulling his phone out once more to check the recipe, “we need to start mixing things.”
“Did you read the whole paragraph before starting?”
“Yes.” A beat of silence. Langa glanced down at this phone, eyes skirting over the screen as he quickly scrolled down before bouncing back up to find Reki’s. “Yes, I did.”
Laughter broke from Reki’s lips as he made his way next to Langa, shoulders bumping against each other. “Alright, you tell me what you want me to do and I’m on it.”
One by one, Langa listed off the ingredients that he needed. Reki made his way around the kitchen, opening cabinet after cabinet, trying his best to find where most of the ingredients were hidden. This wasn’t his kitchen; he didn’t know how Mrs. Hasegawa organized her kitchen, but he managed. The flour was already out, sugar had been found, eggs from the fridge, and all the extra little things that made cookies soft and sweet had been eventually spotted. One by one, all the ingredients that Langa had listed off found themselves on the table next to the bowl Langa had taken out earlier.
Reki slid back into his chair, chin resting on his folded arms against the table as he watched Langa measure his ingredients one by one. He read the amounts to Langa who seemed to struggle a little, spilling next to the measuring cups as he poured or splashing as he mixed with vigor. A literal child in the kitchen, but Reki didn’t have the heart to get him to calm down. He seemed to be having so much fun, his blue eyes sparkling like snowflakes under the warm afternoon sun. As long as he wasn’t the one stuck wiping everything down, Reki would let Langa be, let him have fun with his messy attempt at making cookies.
“Dude!” Reki coughed, waving his hand around. “Be more careful with the flour! That shit is volatile!”
“I didn’t think-!” Langa scrunched his nose before sneezing into his arm. “I didn’t think it would explode like that! It doesn’t do that in movies!”
The white cloud fluttered around before falling onto the counters and floor, snowfall right there in the kitchen. The impromptus blizzard had Reki chuckling and rubbing at his nose.
“Watch a cooking show and you’ll see you’re supposed to be careful with your ingredients, man.”
“Well, I’m sorry I don’t go looking for things that don’t exactly interest me. And all you send me are skating vids, so maybe this is on you. Maybe you,” Langa’s blue eyes narrowed onto Reki, but a smile tugged at the corners of his mouth, “should start sending me baking videos instead.”
A sly smirk pulled at the corner of Reki’s mouth as he flicked more flour in Langa’s direction. Langa yelped, sneezing again.
“Maybe I will; no more skating for you until you learn how to be careful with flour.”
Langa shook his head, rolling his eyes and rubbing the flour out of his nose, but he didn’t bother concealing his pretty smile. “Pass me the chocolate.”
Reki slid the bag across the table, but not without stealing a handful of chocolate chips which he immediately stuffed in his mouth. Langa raised an eyebrow at him as he poured into the bowl a lot more chocolate chips than he was probably supposed to, but then again, when was there ever too much chocolate?
“Those are for the cookies, Reki.”
“C’mon! It’s chocolate! You know I never have at home.”
Langa gave the batter a mix, trying to spread the chocolate chips equally throughout the dough. Reki stretched over the table, stealing some of the cookie dough and plopping it in his mouth before Langa could swat him with the wooden spoon he was using.
“Stop stealing my cookies! And stop complaining. You have a bunch of sweet at your place.”
“Never for long.” Reki licked his thumb, getting the last of the dough he had managed to grab. “Everyone hogs them, so I barely get any.”
“I buy you sweet almost every day.”
“A personal choice?”
Reki almost missed the eyebrow raise and the playful smile as Langa turned on his heel, fetching two spoons from a drawer. “Are you telling me to stop?”
“What?” Reki took advantage of Langa’s turned back, stealing more cookie dough. He knew he wasn’t supposed to, but raw cookie dough was just too good to pass up. “Never!”
Langa sighed as he came back to his bowl. Reki had successfully taken more dough, but he had left so much evidence that it was impossible for Langa to not know.
Giggles broke from Reki’s lips as he covered his head with his arms, ducking for coverage as Langa hit him repeatedly with his wooden spoon.
“Stop stealing my cookies!”
“Then stop leaving it unattended, dude! And pass the chocolate, I want more.”
Langa huffed, (sorta) gently smacking Reki on the head one last time before handing him the bag of chocolate chips. “Just don’t eat them all. My mom likes having some with her lunches and I don’t want to be scolded when she inevitably believes that I am the one who ate them all.”
Quiet calm fell back in the kitchen, Reki plopping chocolate chip after chocolate chip into his mouth while Langa went over his recipe once more, making sure he hadn’t forgotten anything. Reki watched as Langa muttered English words, his eyes glancing around the kitchen, pointing at everything he put into the dough. And once he seemed satisfied, he got to work, scooping the dough with his two spoons and desperately trying to make them into perfect little balls. Reki watched as Langa struggled, groaning every time he dropped a spoon or when the dough didn’t fall the way he wanted. It was a little sad, just watching him try so hard yet fail so miserably.
Reki felt Langa tense, his breath hitching, as Reki’s arms caging him against the table. His hands found Langa’s, warm palms guiding the repetitive motion of scooping dough with one spoon and scraping it off with the other, while his chin rested against Langa’s shoulder. And under his touch, Langa melted, leaning back into Reki, relaxing against his chest. And just like that, Reki was snuggling his boyfriend, smiling into his shoulder as he helped him prepare the cookies for the oven.
“It’s really just,” Reki did the motion once more, scoop and scrape, his fingers tightening around Langa’s. “Just like that. You don’t have to try to get them all round and cute. They’re gonna melt in the oven anyway.”
Langa huffed, but still, he turned his head just enough to press a kiss into Reki’s hair. “I know how to make cookies, you know. I’ve watched you make enough and it’s not the first time I’m making them.”
“Really?” Reki nuzzled Langa’s shoulder, muffling his giggles. “Because you’re really shit at this, dude.”
“Thanks. Not my fault I rather just buy them instead of struggling to make them.”
“Correction-” Reki pressed a kiss to Langa’s jaw, grinning into his skin- “you steal the cookies I have at home.”
Laughing came as natural as breathing when it came to Langa and his dramatics. Laughing was inevitable when he was whipping his head to the side to look at Reki, his eyes big and blue and bewildered. And when his voice was cracking, pitchy and funny, it was impossible to not laugh, happy and bright.
“You give those to me! And your mom insisted I bring home the last batch!”
“That’s not how I remember it going.”
“Well then, if you’re just going to insult me,” Langa shook Reki off, his arms falling to his side before looping around Langa’s waist, his whole body snuggling closer to his boyfriend’s, “you’re not having any of these.”
“You’re probably gonna end up eating them all anyway, dude.”
Langa huffed. “I hate you.”
“No, you don’t. In fact,” Reki nuzzled Langa’s shoulder once more, bumping his nose against the skin right below Langa’s jaw, “if I remember correctly,” he grinned into the skin, “you said you loved me just yesterday.”
Langa’s hands froze mid-scoop, his whole body tensing against Reki. A wildfire ignited under his skin, the snow-white skin turning to a blaze. Wildfire like never seen before. Langa was too cool for blushing, at least until he was reminded of his sudden love declaration over a late-night meal, Reki offering him the remains of his fries.
Langa’s shoulders untensed, sagging a little as he returned to his cookie dough.
“I meant it,” he whispered, his voice a little scratchy, tainted with embarrassment. “I meant it when I said I love you.”
“I know.” Another smile was pressed onto Langa’s shoulder. “I know you mean it.”
“I love you, Reki.”
Reki’s heart flipped in his chest. Sure, he had brought it up to tease Langa, but hearing him say it again, it left Reki as big a mess as it did the night before. It left him with those thousands of butterflies in his chest and stomach; it left him with giggles threatening to break from his lips; it left him with an explosion of color in his face and ears. Because Langa loved him, truly and wholly, and he meant it. Langa had meant the words he said. He never would have said them if he hadn’t meant them. He wasn’t the type to say what Reki wanted to hear. Langa spoke honestly and freely, even if his words sometimes came out clumsily and tripping over each other.
“I know you do.”
Something squeezed in Reki’s chest as he squeezed Langa’s middle before peeling himself off of the boy. He had wanted to stay there, warm against Langa’s body as he worked methodically, scoop and scrape, but the tray had been filled, 24 cookies laying neatly before the two.
He watched as Langa made his way to the oven, carefully pushing the tray in without burning himself. He was beautiful like that, crouched in front of the oven, looking through the glass door. He was beautiful like that, his hair pulled back, strands starting to slip undone. Langa was beautiful in every way possible, no matter what he was doing. And Reki loved him. Reki loved him in every way possible. Reki loved him, loved his shaky hands, loved his funny concentrated faces, loved his blue silky hair, loved his impulsivity, loved his kindness, loved him from head to toe, inside and out. Reki loved Langa, but whenever the words started to form, they clogged in the base of his throat, refusing to come out. Saying I love you turned out to be a lot more difficult than he had anticipated.
“Don’t feel obligated to say it back,” Langa had said the night before, his face flushed as his fingers tangled with Reki’s on his lap. “Only say if when you feel like it. Take all the time you need. And,” his smile faltered for a moment, but as soon as those sky-blue eyes met Reki’s, the smile eased its way back onto Langa’s lips, “if you never feel like saying it back, that’s also okay. I don’t want you saying it because you feel like you have to. Only when it feels right. Say it back to me when you’ll mean it. Because I mean it. I mean it when I say I love you.”
Only when it feels right. When would that be? It always felt like the right moment, but at the same time, it never felt like the right moment. Saying I love you for the first time, it had to be special, didn’t it? It had to be something straight out of a Hollywood movie. It had to be grand gestures and memorable. But then again, Langa had said it in the dead of the night, in a shitty 24-hour burger joint, over a half-empty carton of fries that Reki had pushed his way. Yet his eyes had shined like a thousand snowflakes under the clear moonlight, blurting out that I love youbefore clasping his hands over his mouth. His cheeks had flushed as Reki felt everything inside him twist, scared and excited and, and… and in love. Langa was the one saying the magic words, but Reki was the one who was so madly in love at that moment. Or maybe they both were. Maybe that was why Langa was laughing, grinning, fingers intertwining with Reki’s as he said it slower this time, in a way that was so genuinely Langa. No grand gestures. No fireworks. Just Langa and Reki sunken in a shitty booth in the back of an empty restaurant, giggling and grinning and burning up.
“I guess that’s it for now.” Langa got up, brushing off the remaining flour that had clung to his jeans. “We just have to wait now?”
Something strummed through Reki’s entire body, contracting, squeezing, choking. I love you. It was there, hanging on his lips as he watched Langa straighten out, beautiful Langa with his gorgeous blue eyes skirting over the kitchen. It pounded against his chest as he really took in the scene: a messy kitchen, soft white noise bouncing against the windows, a beautiful boy leaning against a counter. It was there, everywhere. And it had Reki dreaming of a future, one with Langa in it, one where they would have a place all to themselves where they could bake cookies together and just be happy, infinitely happy, forever the two of them.
Reki knew he could be reckless. Not like Langa, but he didn’t care for the scrapes and bruises he’d get when he tried a new trick on his board. He was impulsive by nature. If he wasn’t held back, he would be on a constant shopping spree, adding even more colorful hoodies and t-shirts to his closet. Reki rarely thought things through to the end, but when it came to his heart, he was calculating to a fault. When it came to his heart, he got so caught up in his head that he lost all his impulsivity, all his recklessness. When it came to his heart, Langa had to be the first to act otherwise nothing would happen.
What was Reki afraid of? Everything. Nothing. If he acted on impulse, maybe he’d go too far, too fast. If he acted as reckless as he did when he skated, then maybe Langa would realize that he was too much. And what if what he did was weird? What would he do then? Reki had never been in a relationship, he didn’t know how he was meant to act. And asking Langa what he was supposed to do, how he was supposed to act- no, that was too embarrassing. So he let Langa take the reigns on the relationship, even if he knew that Langa would have liked him to be just a little more assertive, just a little more sure of himself, just a little less afraid. He knew that it wasn’t right to have Langa make all the decisions for him, but Reki didn’t want to be pushy. At least, normally he didn’t like being pushy. But with I love you right on the tip of his tongue, love, desire hazing his mind, well…
“Hey.”
Langa jumped, his eyes growing three sizes as Reki pushed him into the counter, arms caging him once more, lips hovering over his. Langa’s breath was warm and uneven against Reki’s burning skin, something close to choked laughter. Langa was almost always the one initiating kisses and cuddles, but when Reki found the courage to act on his impulses, it always caught him off guard, leaving him a blushing mess.
“Hi?”
“You’re pretty, you know that?”
Langa relaxed, his shock starting to fade, unlike his blush. Arms circled around Reki’s waist, pulling him flush against Langa. Pretty laughter broke from his lips as they met Langa’s in a kiss.
“Is that so?” Langa said against Reki’s lips. “I don’t think you say it enough.”
They fit like the two last pieces of a puzzle, perfect against each other. With Langa’s arms around Reki’s waist and Reki’s arms around Langa’s neck, there was no leaving one another. Neither one was ready to let go, heads tilting to the side as the kisses left the realm of innocent pecks.
“You’re,” Reki gasped between kisses, “you’re so freaking beautiful. It’s,” another kiss, hot and wet, “it’s almost unfair.”
Langa was truly intoxicating, from the way his lips would quirk into a smile as he would press another kiss to Reki’s lips, slow and deep, to the way his fingers were fiddling with the stray threads on the hem of Reki’s hoodie. Langa was danger and Reki knew damn well that he was losing all his senses with every kiss that was pressed to his mouth. Langa was everything, good and perfect and so very hot.
It really didn’t take much for Reki to be breathless. All it took was a laugh of Langa’s, a touch of Langa’s, a kiss of Langa’s. Everything about Langa had him soaring high. Just one look with those heavy-lidded eyes, a flash of blue behind those long lashes, it was enough for Reki to lose himself completely to Langa. I love you.
“And you’re,” Reki laughed, panted, almost cried, “you’re so amazing. At absolutely everything.”
“Stop,” a kiss was pressed to the corner of Reki’s mouth, “stop talking.”
Reki didn’t need to be told twice, not when Langa’s mouth was pressed to his once more, their warm breaths mixing. Reki didn’t need to be told twice, not when Langa’s cold fingers were digging into Reki’s burning skin as he held him firmly against him. Reki didn’t need to be told twice, not when Langa’s tongue was licking at the seam of his lips, pressing against his, swiping against the roof of his mouth. Reki didn’t need to be told twice, not when he was whimpering into Langa’s mouth, lost to his touch, to his kisses, to his love.
Strands of blue hair slipped through Reki’s fingers, slipping from the elastic as he fisted at it. And with the little tug, Langa’s breath hitched and he melted against Reki, his fingers digging deeper into his sides.
“You,” Reki ran his fingers through Langa’s hair, freeing it from its braids as Langa let out a choked-out moan, “you really like that.”
“No?” More choked-up sounds rang against Reki’s ear as he trailed kisses along Langa’s jaw, his fingers following the natural line of his spine. Another whine as fingers moved from Reki’s hip to his arm, squeezing hard enough to leave a bruise, body curving under the touch. “Shut, shut up.”
“Make me.”
It had meant to be a joke, teasing and taunting, but as Langa’s ankle curled around Reki’s, flipping him and crashing his back into the counter, everything in Reki burned. His breath hitched, his heart hammering against his chest as Langa licked at his lips, biting his kiss-swollen lips, eyes darting down as he ran his thumb over Reki’s bottom lip.
“As you wish.”
His voice was raspy, low and… And as Langa’s fingers found their way under Reki’s chin, tilting his head up as he pressed their lips together, Reki felt himself slip. His arms tightened around Langa’s neck as Langa steadied him, hips flush as he held himself up against the counter. Langa. Always Langa. Langa with his addictive kisses. Langa with his sweet kisses. Langa who always knew exactly what he was doing. Langa who always knew exactly what he wanted. Langa who never hesitated. Langa that Reki loved so much. Langa that Reki loved most in the world.
“I,” Reki pulled back as Langa chased, another kiss cutting him off. “I love you.”
The words broke out before Reki could swallow them back, a whisper against Langa’s lips. Lips that froze, the next kiss never coming. A wave of anxiety crashed against Reki’s chest, choking him. Had he messed up? Langa had told him to shut up, but he didn’t. He kept talking because all he did was talk. He was always talking, talking too much when no one wanted to hear him. Reki didn’t know how to shut up and now he ruined a good moment because he just couldn’t hold his words back any longer.
“Really?”
Langa broke into a grin, his eyes twinkling with those blue snowflakes, and Reki couldn’t help the smile that grew against his lips. His voice had come out a few octaves higher, sounding so excited and happy. And as he glowed, shined, beautiful and overjoyed, Reki melted.
“Yeah, yeah, man. I mean,” there was laughter in his voice, lighter and higher than usual as he cupped Langa’s cheek, his thumb rubbing soothing circles into the soft skin, “yeah, I do mean it. I love you, Langa. Have for a long time.”
“I love you too. So, so much.”
Both broke into giggles against each other, wide grins pressed together in a poor attempt at a kiss. It was hard to kiss when they were both smiling so big, but it was even harder to pull apart. All Reki wanted was to be close to Langa, whispering “I love you” over and over against his boyfriend’s lips. All it took was saying once for Reki to want to say it over and over, every day until he couldn’t speak anymore. He was ready to say it now and forever.
Slow kisses filled Reki’s head and heart. There was no need to rush; they had forever, after all. There was need to be rushed and heated. Things could be taken one step at a time, slow and steady. They could enjoy the calm, peaceful moment, live blissfully in the present. And when Langa was touching him like that, his thumb rubbing comforting circled in the small of Reki’s back, it was wonderful. Peaceful and calm and so, so comforting. Nothing could pull them apart. Nothing could ruin-
Reki yelped as the smoke detector blared throughout the apartment. Langa scrambled away, muttering English curses under his breath as he opened every window in the room before pulling the oven door open to take out the burnt cookies.
Reki simply watched, frozen against the counter, his hand covering half his face. He felt the mixture of horror and laughter bubbling up in his chest as he watched Langa run around, controlling the situation. Thankfully, it didn’t take long for the blaring alarm to shut off, the apartment plunged back into silence. And when Langa crashed next to Reki, elbows pressed into the counter and pushing his bangs away from his eyes as he huffed, Reki dropped his head onto Langa’s shoulder, moving closer.
“Well shit, man. Didn’t you put on a timer or something?”
Langa pursed his lips as he glanced at Reki. “I was going to. But then someone,” he flicked Reki’s forehead playfully, but Reki didn’t miss the blush creeping up his neck, “jumped me before I could. And then I forgot.”
Reki giggled into Langa’s shoulder, arms wrapping around his middle to hug him. When Langa put it like that, it was a little embarrassing. Reki who had always been so careful, who was always so calculating when it came to his heart, who was also always so caught up in his own head when it came to love and Langa, he had let himself get carried away. He had let himself get so carried away that the cookies had burnt. He was the reason their cookies were charred and good for the trash.
“Reki? Reki!” Reki glanced up at Langa who was shifting to face him. Langa held his face so gently, his thumb stroking Reki’s damp cheeks. “Reki, what’s wrong?”
“I burned your cookies,” Reki laughed. He felt the tears in the corner of his eyes, he felt them streaming down his cheeks, but they weren’t from sadness or distress, even if he was gasping, choking, hiccupping as Langa continued brushing the tears away. These were tears of laughter, purely joyful and ridiculous. “Your cookies burned because of me, man!”
“No, no, my love.” Langa peppered kisses all over Reki’s face, from his cheeks to his nose to his eyebrow to his forehead. “It’s not your fault, my love. I would have burned them regardless.”
Reki felt his heart flutter as he raised an eyebrow at Langa. “My love?”
Langa froze mid-kiss, his fingers going rigid against Reki’s cheeks as he tensed. “Too soon?”
Was it too soon? Reki shook his head. It absolutely was not too soon. Reki kept shaking his head, laughter sweet on his lips as he beckoned Langa closer.
“Never.”
It had always been a dream of Reki’s to be called “my love.” It was one of those things he had heard in movies and in tv shows when he was young, and ever since he had wanted to find himself someone who would call him all those cute pet names that they said in his mom’s shows. My love. Sweetheart. Darling. Honey. All those cute little pet names that would make his heart flutter when he thought of someone saying them to him.
With time, he had given up on that dream – “those are just for girls,” his friends had told a few years back when he had first expressed his desire to be called so – but hearing the pet name come out of Langa’s mouth, it had Reki’s heart soaring. They weren’t just for girls. It wasn’t just a stupid fantasy of his. It wasn’t because Langa was there, whispering his name followed by “my love” over and over into his skin, pressing kisses all over his face, damp cheeks and all.
When Langa’s lips met Reki’s in a kiss, it was sweet as ever. Langa’s arms found their home around Reki’s waist while Reki’s fingers fiddled with a stray lock of blue hair, their smiles pressed together. It was just so easy to be in love with Langa, beautiful Langa, beautiful Langa with his funny nose that would bump against Reki’s every time he would pull back to breath before pressing another kiss to Reki’s lips. Beautiful Langa who only seemed to only care for Reki. Beautiful Langa who called Reki his love and meant it.
“You’re,” Reki rubbed his nose against Langa’s affectionately, “you’re so shit at making cookies, you know that?”
Langa shut his eyes as he took a deep breath, his usual half-hearted annoyance appearing on his face. Reki chuckled against him, shaking the two ever so slightly. It was just so much fun to tease Langa, lovingly making fun of him.
“Ever the romantic, aren’t you?”
“You said you liked honesty, so I’m just being honest with you. You’re absolute shit at baking, man, but you’re my shitty baker.”
“Can’t,” Langa inhaled sharply, “can’t I have just one nice moment?”
Reki twirled a lock of Langa’s hair around his finger before pushing himself up, catching Langa’s lips in a kiss. “We are having a nice moment. You just don’t like that you’re finally bad at something.” Another short and sweet kiss was pressed to Langa’s lips. “But I still love you. I love you even if you would be an absolutely shitty househusband.”
“I would be-! Wait, backtrack.” Langa quirked an eyebrow as a sly smirk pulled at the corner of his mouth. “You tell me you love me for the first time like 20, 30 minutes ago and you’re already thinking of marriage?” Reki gulped as Langa leaned in, close enough to feel his every short breath, but far enough to not be able to kiss him quiet. “Moving a little fast, don’t you think?”
“I-!” Reki huffed, straightening himself out. He felt the burn in his ears and in his face, but he persisted. He was not going to be tongue-tied. “You know what? Yeah. I am. But only because you-” he jabbed Langa’s chest, Langa who was laughing so freely and prettily- “started it by saying you wanted to skate infinitely with me! So, who’s moving fast now, huh?”
“Bold of you to assume I’d say yes.”
“Excuse me?” Reki was taken aback by the statement, especially when the implication hit him like a truck. Or a car. He scrunched his nose, eyes narrowing onto Langa. “Well bold of you to assume I’d be the one proposing.”
“I confessed first!” Langa’s eyes were big and round as he held a hand to his heart. “And I said I love you first! The least you can do is… It’s the least you could do!”
“Fine!” Reki pushed himself up onto the counter, his legs dangling in the open air. His head fell to the side as he swayed side to side. A grin stretched across his face as he stuck his tongue out playful. “I’ll propose the day you manage to make me an amazing cookie. The best cookie I’ll ever eat.”
“Oh c’mon! Low blow,” Langa whined, all pouty and cute. “That’s gonna take forever, Reki.”
“Then start working on it, Pretty Boy.”
Langa huffed, peeling himself off of the counter only to squeeze his way between Reki’s knees. Determination sparkled in his eyes as his entire focus fixated on his boyfriend. His fingers dug into Reki’s thighs as the boy’s ankles hooked behind his back, pulling his hips into the counter. And as soon as Reki’s hands were cupping his face, all signs of a pout faded.
“You know what?” Reki hummed, playing with the blue bangs as he had the habit of doing. It kept his hands busy while he focused on his boyfriend’s moving mouth. “I’m gonna make you the best fucking cookie ever and then you’ll be stuck with me until the end of infinity.”
A smile pulled on the corners of Reki’s mouth as he leaned down, meeting Langa in the middle for yet another sweet kiss. He had lost count of how many they had shared in the past hour or so, but Reki couldn’t be bothered by that. When it was just him and Langa, it didn’t matter how many kisses were shared, as long as they could be close, smiling and having fun. But it definitely felt good to be able to kiss Langa so freely, alone in the apartment. There was nothing to worry about as Langa’s fingers dug into his jeans, pushing himself up, chasing Reki’s mouth every time he pulled back to laugh. There was nothing to worry about as his fingers raked through Langa’s hair, playing with the locks as he got to kiss his boyfriend. There was nothing to worry about, not even the thousands of butterflies that erupted in his stomach, not even the giggles that threatened to break from his lips, not even the clumsy attempts at copying Langa and the clumsier attempts at making Langa feel as good as he did. Reki didn’t have to worry about anything because Langa too seemed lost to his touch, to his kisses, to his love. Because just like Reki, Langa was in love.
“I can’t wait,” he breathed against Langa’s lips, pretty and pink and oh so sweet. “I can’t wait to love you forever.”
