was inspired to make a silly little chance-based party game, with a gimmick being that the board slowly grows. would anyone be intereested in it to take up time? rules are below:
why is this a game is a 2+ player game inspired by various party games where the goal is to accrue as many gems as possible. to facilitate this, you can acquire gold and items. the difficulty of the game is that the board constantly evolves, growing more and more complex over time. there is, however, only one gemshop ever. each of your turns, you can roll a Movement die and you can spend up to 3 items, in any order. when you move, you cannot backtrack along the connection you just crossed, but you can cross your path and the other connections on your path. there are three end tokens. when the last is removed, the game ends and the winner is found. REVIEWED 1'23 #2 ~ Diablo II Resurrected (yes, not D4)

While the whole world is focused on continuing the reviews from the announcement at the very beginning to the recent release of Diablo IV, today I'm going to review the remastered (or should I say "Resurrected") version of my favorite hack and slash 3ARPG of all time - Diablo II Resurrected, which I only recently afforded.
I have been playing single player on the classic version of D2 since the mid 2000's (hence the obvious bias) and recently completed D3; whereas I haven't played D1 (because I was too young) or D4 (because I'm poor lol) and so the purpose of this review is just to compare significant elements of D2R with the classic version to determine if it was indeed worth the purchase.
Disclaimer: I am not a professional or hardcore gamer, and am in no means a totally proficient and well-versed reviewer, in terms of current media's socially acceptable norms, and so this review is more of an everyday-person's take on a beloved game.
Graphics: D2R* > D2C
*as long as you have a good gaming setup, as the high quality graphics and loading screens do lag often and prominently if you don't, and you end up having a worse experience Although there is an amazing visual experience with the high quality graphics (and larger screen to snipe monsters), there is also a charm with the classic version that I would still be happy to still play with (and feel like I'm not loosing out too much on). Not gonna lie though, the aura visuals especially on my Holy Frost Zealot and the flame visuals everywhere is fire! (pun intended)
Soundtrack: D2R ~ D2C
Loved the D2C soundtrack as it was (and maybe it's just me) but the music in D2R seemed to have more impact and better timing in making you feel in the moment at certain parts of the game
Accounts/Shared Storage: D2C >>> D2R
The biggest L with D2R for me. Although there is allegedly no limit to offline accounts (which I have not yet tested or can confirm), you only have 3 pages worth of shared stash which means that for someone like me who likes to hoard and organize a lot of uniques or set items (and some rares with good rolls), runes, charms, jewels (and jewelry with good rolls), and class-unique items, I have to create 'Keeper' accounts to store more stuff. Meanwhile with PlugY in D2C, I can have infinite shared (and labelled) storage and organizational options, no problem. I just don't see the point of limiting offline shared storage when it isn't a detriment to the experience nor affect online competitive play.
Quality of Life: D2R ~ D2C
For me there is no significant differences with D2R compared to D2C because the only notable improvement to the QOL when I was playing was the sheet comparison option of your gear but along with other improvements such as advanced stats, these are easily available in D2C with mod support. Personally, I thought the auto gold pick-up would be the most help for me as I used to pick-up all the gold I could (please don't judge me lol) and in D2R it's so laggy and you have to back track and pass by the area where the gold drops to "auto" pick-up that it seems equivalent (or even more cumbersome) than just clicking on the spot to pick it up.
Overall, I think D2R is an amazing revitalization of the game, and you can definitely experience improvements (mostly visual) but when you consider each one by one, I personally think it is barely worth the price tag if you are a casual single-player like me. So note to past self (or anyone else like me considering D2R) - buy it only if you have extra money (and not just because you can or have to).
P.S. And yes, having extra money to buy something is totally different than having money to afford it. The former means that it is coming from your excess, whereas the latter means it is part of your regular expenses. But that's a debate for another time. GLHF!

So I just played a bunch of BOARD GAMES and now I wanna talk about em

Unearth
In Unearth five ruins are before you with various colored stones atop them, one ruin you own that is hidden, and a set of wonders. Your tools are a d8, a d4, and 3d6. Each turn you pick a ruin and roll a die. When the dice on the ruin total at or above the top left number it “breaks”, and scores to the player with the single highest die. If a 1-3 is rolled, you collect a stone from the ruin (or if empty one from the bag) to build. You create hexagons using these stone tiles and these earn you wonders based on the color combos used and you can “reuse” stones by continuing to make hexagonal “circles” that earn more wonders. The game ends when all ruins in the deck are claimed. Delver cards are earned if you don’t score the ruin helping you win the next one.
This game surprised me a good deal. It was a blind buy that had me intrigued. You can’t go full stones or full ruins, you have to play both games to win. Delver cards are an excellent rebound after losing value and as long as you don’t roll a 4 each roll means something to the game. The late game does suffer from some RNG as you can get screwed on crucial rolls but its not enough of a problem to ruin the experience. I highly recommend Unearth, I’ve played it a number of times and enjoyed each one.

Dice Forge
The flavor of Dice Forge is we’re all champions of greek mythology making offerings to gods to perform heroic deeds. The mechanics are your dice give you one of four currency on rolls: gold, blue crystal, red crystal, or victory points to buy die faces and cards. Earn and spend currency to fix your rolls and give yourself more chances to roll or earn points.
As a dice game its RNG based, but what I love is each player rolls both dice every turn they take. You get to roll both your custom dice a satisfying number of times. Gold builds up fast but there’s a variety of sinks to use for it, the array of dice faces and blue/red costed cards making it so each player can reasonably pursue a different path to victory. My rule for games is it needs to play differently, and it sure does! I like Dice Forge and feel its as fun as the back of the box says it is.

Abyss - Kraken Expansion
In the Kraken Expansion to Abyss a new faction is available: Krakens. They’re a wild card used for any faction when buying but expending them forces you to gain nebulis, difficult to spend black pearls. Each one counts as -1 point for the end and the player with the most (who has the kraken token) gets -5 points.
I love Abyss. I think every board game player should have a copy of Abyss right next to Betrayal House on the Hill and Seven Wonders. The game is all about measuring the edge you give your opponents and I love the inclusion of nebulis in that respect. A very cheeky way of hindering your opponents when used right. I do wish there were more locations that used the loot deck because the flip till bust mechanic to assign it points is fun and I want to see it more. Overall fantastic addition to an already great game.

Res Arcana - Lux et Tenebrae
The first expansion to the engine building game Res Arcana, Lux et Tenebrae introduces Demon type artifacts, magic items, a number of new mages, places of power, and monuments to find new synergy with and enjoy.
Res Arcana was a blind buy I had mixed feelings on until this weekend, and I do believe this expansion helped. The demon type doesn’t clutter the overall experience in fact it gives you more to look for. My only gripe with Res Arcana is all the pieces to a good game are there, but we had to make our own setup rules (inbox me if you’d like to hear it) to get a better game out of it. I love the art, the flavor, and the mechanics and how they work together to make a satisfying engine making experience.

GWT is a euro game (you know its european when the nickels are copper and the pennies are silver) where you herd cattle up the board to ship across rail lines. As you move your customizable cowboy along a select number of spaces you take actions related to the workers on your board, the buildings on the main board giving you better spaces and actions, the hand of cows you cultivate for high scores, and the train up top to ensure you’re delivering well. It is a dense game with many moving parts.
GWT ranks among the more difficult games I’ve played. It is definitely a takes 1hr to set up and explain and 2-3hrs for the first game kind of game. For reference my previous hardest game was Underwater Cities. Its a very solid experience for tabletop veterans who want more out of board game night and want their skills tested. Its a good time and you get to give your cowboy a hat.

Vault Wars
Lastly, Vault Wars is a game where we all take the role of newbie adventurers looking to get a start by buying out vaults of slain adventurers for loot, a dnd esque storage wars. Each player has a number of vaults to play. When yours is played you play the role of auction master, looking at the loot inside and showing other players glimpses of one or two cards. One card is revealed to all players and an opening bid is made by you. All other players bid for the vault. When one player wins they claim the vault and its contents. End of round players can offload junk, sell cards for cash, or pay on storage for cards kept as points for the end of the five or so rounds. Players have two adventurer cards and choose one to modify their points end of game.
If you enjoy Sheriff of Nottingham you’ll enjoy Vault Wars. Measuring what you show vs what you set bidding to is a measure of gold and value thinking to try and rip off an opponent or give yourself a sweet deal. This is one I’ll be looking to pick up, the flavor alone was enough to seal the deal and the functional and fun game behind it only sweetened the deal. Getting a vault triggers the same serotonin release of opening a booster pack, sifting through loot and deciding what to sell, use, or score. I recommend it!

Using In-Game Props in your D&D Game...
Potions & Brews
This is probably the easiest and cheapest D&D Prop you can make yourself!
All you need is some glass jars or test tubes and vials, which you can get all from your local craft store, and fill them with different soft drinks and different coloured sodas to represent various D&D potions:
A Cherry Red Potion for a Healing Potion is the first thing that springs into my mind: And it’s an actual healing potion you can drink!
Now if you’re not into that thing, you can always take a look at “Healing Potion Kits”, which are essentially fancy glass vials filled with colourful resins with a number of dice equal to the rarity of the potion.
Either way, it’s relatively cheap to make, and pretty cheap to buy pre-made.
I have my own Healing Potion Set: Four little glass jars with a red resin inside and d4′s for each rarity of healing potion, and it only cost me about ~$26 USD, and that’s including all the Shipping and Handling stuff.
Whenever the Party finds or buys Healing Potions, I hand one of these bad boys to that Player, and they just keep it with their Character until they use it, roll the dice, and hand it back when they’re done...
Bonus: And because I like to brag sometimes, I like to use the skills of my many friends to build some awesome D&D Props.
And with one Friend being a Graphic Designer and another being trained to use a bunch of Glass Engraving Gear, I can proudly say I have a bottle of actual “Dragon’s Breath” Brand Whiskey (a Famous Brand in my D&D World), with a Custom Designed Logo that’s been engraved onto the fanciest whiskey bottle I could find...
Did I need this? Probably not... Is it cool? Heck yeah!
Wands, Daggers & Weapons
Now, obviously you probably don’t want to give your Players actual knives and daggers, so take a look at LARP Weapons!
You can get Daggers, Swords, Axes, Wands, Staffs and more, with most of them being a little expensive, but often times worth it...
I bought an “Assassin’s Sword” as a Prop for my game, since the Player’s are currently on the hunt for a forgotten forge from ages past, and are trying to forge a Silver Sword in a desperate attempt to stop a War with the Githyanki of the Astral Sea.
To buy this Prop ‘Silver Sword’, and the stuff I need to maintain it (just to make sure the sword doesn’t break), it cost about ~$100 USD, which ain’t cheap, but since it’s a Prop sword, it’s gonna get a lot of use...
But if you’re a DM on a Budget, you can buy some very fancy wooden wands and daggers from places like Dog Might Games, who do Custom Wooden Weapons like Daggers, Wands and even Big Ass Hammers from prices of $39 USD upwards.
And as someone who owns two Custom Wooden Wands, it’s fantastic!
I have a Flame Birch Imperial Wand to represent a “Wand of Fireballs”, and an Ebony Necromancer’s Wand to represent a “Wand of Fear”.
Both are really well done, and the faces you get when you hand your Wizard or Sorcerer an actual Wand of Fireballs... priceless...
Maps
Maps are a good thing to hand your Players, because they read “Big Bad Forest up North” and think “We should go there sometime...”
Now, you can draw a map yourself with various pieces of software, or you could even Commission an Artist to draw one for you, with the Prices being anywhere from $40 to well over $200+.
Now, obviously that depends on the detail of the map, and the map’s size, but if you just so happen to know a bunch of Artists and Cartographers, you could easily get a map done for pretty cheap...
I luckily have a bunch of Artists for friends, so I just send them my VERY rough details of a Map, and they draw it out, and with one of my friends being an actual geography student, she really does know where rivers, mountains and forests should be, resulting in a beautifully accurate map of the local area for the Players to explore...
And yes, I pay everyone for their time and their art, because you should, that’s what decent people do...
Wanted Posters
Similar to maps, but a bit more exclusive. If you have an artsy friends, or you’re artsy yourself, it’s pretty easy to create an old western style wanted poster for one of your Player’s Characters, or even the whole darn Party!
Luckily none of my Players have been that naughty lately, but I was in a Game recently were our Party had just escaped from an assassination attempt on the Queen’s life and had to leave town, only to sneak through the City Gates a couple of sessions later to find our faces plastered over every wall...
That was when the DM handed us her Custom-Made Wanted Posters, with each Players face right above the words ‘WANTED’.
Scrolls
Spell Scrolls, Scrolls of Protection, whatever you want to call them; you can find a bunch of spell scrolls online from some absolutely fantastic artists...
My personal favourite at the moment are the Scrolls from Arcane Scrollworks and SkeletonKeyGames, who produce some absolutely freakin’ fantastic looking spell scrolls for prices as little as $11.99 USD.
They do scrolls for the Arcane, Divine, Natural and you can get entire bundles of scrolls for less than $60 USD, which is great for a DM, or a Wizard wanting to expand their Spellbook...
Actually, speaking of Spellbooks...
Spellbooks
You can get some beautifully made, leather-bound spellbook-looking notepads and journals for your Wizard Player, or even for yourself.
It can make a great Journal to take notes on the session’s events, or as an actual prop with real runes, glyphs and arcane symbols drawn inside for the Wizard Player to decode with their 20 Intelligence...
Coins
Copper, Silver, Electrum, Gold, Platinum: There’s a lot of different Coins in D&D, and handing your Players a couple of real coppers definitely increases the immersion, and makes shopping for potions and magic items a little more tolerable...
You can buy a whole bunch of them online, I got 50 Coins (10 of each type) for less than $20 USD, and there are companies out there that specifically make coins for D&D, from elven coins to dwarvish coins, to freshly minted coins for adventures like Waterdeep: Dragon Heist...
Bonus: Invisible Ink!
Ever wanted to make the Rogue Player feel extra special? Or maybe the Wizard Player finally got the chance to cast Detect Magic on that magic scroll they found earlier.
Well Invisible Ink Pens and UV Lights can make the experience all the more badass.
Say you draw an arcane symbol on a piece of paper and hand it to the Wizard Player, when they cast Identify or Detect Magic on it, just hand them a UV Light and watch their faces light up (get it?) when they uncover the hidden writings beneath...
Or maybe you want the Rogue to decipher a hidden message, or maybe a secret riddle is hidden on the Dungeon Wall and can only be found by casting See Invisibility or Detect Magic...
Invisible Ink is is one of those things that I could find 10,000 uses for if given the time...

ADWD:  Daenerys vs Jon
In this meta, I will try to find the clues of Dance of Dragons 2.0 in Daenerys and Jon ADWD chapters. 
(I will be pointing out how these two are meant to be against each other) 
Mostly: I will examine the chapters that follow each other. 
Let’s start...

He lifted the sack, and spilled its contents on the marble. Bones they were, broken bones and blackened. The longer ones had been cracked open for their marrow. “It were the black one,” the man said, in a Ghiscari growl, “the winged shadow. He come down from the sky and … and …” No. Dany shivered. No, no, oh no. “Are you deaf, fool?” Reznak mo Reznak demanded of the man. “Did you not hear my pronouncement? See my factors on the morrow, and you shall be paid for your sheep.” “Reznak,” Ser Barristan said quietly, “hold your tongue and open your eyes. Those are no sheep bones.” No, Dany thought, those are the bones of a child.

Dany’s dragon Drogon burns a child
Let’s look Jon chapter that comes after this Dany chapter:
Jon I:
Burning dead children had ceased to trouble Jon Snow; live ones were another matter. Two kings to wake the dragon. The father first and then the son, so both die kings. The words had been murmured by one of the queen’s men as Maester Aemon had cleaned his wounds. Jon had tried to dismiss them as his fever talking. Aemon had demurred. “There is power in a king’s blood,” the old maester had warned, “and better men than Stannis have done worse things than this.” The king can be harsh and unforgiving, aye, but a babe still on the breast? Only a monster would give a living child to the flames.

GRRM knew exactly what he was doing by making this chapter follow the Dany one. 
Only monsters burn children= Dragons are monsters. 
Even Dany says so. And Dany calls herself a monster too in her second chapters:
Daenerys II:
Mother of dragons, Daenerys thought. Mother of monsters. What have I unleashed upon the world? A queen I am, but my throne is made of burned bones, and it rests on quicksand. Without dragons, how could she hope to hold Meereen, much less win back Westeros? I am the blood of the dragon, she thought. If they are monsters, so am I.

Monsters burn children= Dragons are monsters = Dany is a monster

Let’s keep reading Jon I chapter:
Jon I:
Stannis read from the letter. “Bear Island knows no king but the King in the North, whose name is STARK. A girl of ten, you say, and she presumes to scold her lawful king.”

Like Daenerys, Stannis also believes that he is the only lawful and true ruler, he sacrifices people to flames, he listens what flames tell him, he wants everyone to bend the knee to him.
Also let’s not forget about the Dragonstone and Azor Ahai parallels between Dany and Stannis. 
Just like Lyanna Mormont doesn’t bend the knee to Stannis; the other Northern lords won’t accept Daenerys either. 
Stannis sees Jon as his key to the North. But Jon made his choice and he chose family and honor over his own desire of becoming the Lord of Winterfell:
“By right Winterfell should go to my sister Sansa.”

Daenerys might also see Jon as her key to the North in the future books but Jon will always choose his honor as a Stark and his Stark family. 
Lonely and lovely and lethal, Jon Snow reflected, and I might have had her. Her, and Winterfell, and my lord father’s name. Instead he had chosen a black cloak and a wall of ice. Instead he had chosen honor. A bastard’s sort of honor.

Daenerys III:
The next morning Xaro’s galleas was gone, but the “gift” that he had brought her remained behind in Slaver’s Bay. Long red streamers flew from the masts of the thirteen Qartheen galleys, writhing in the wind. And when Daenerys descended to hold court, a messenger from the ships awaited her. He spoke no word but laid at her feet a black satin pillow, upon which rested a single bloodstained glove. “What is this?” Skahaz demanded. “A bloody glove …” “… means war,” said the queen.

GLOVE IS OFF AND IT MEANS WAR!
Next chapter is Jon:
Jon IV:
As they did their count, Jon peeled the glove off his left hand and touched the nearest haunch of venison. He could feel his fingers sticking, and when he pulled them back he lost a bit of skin. His fingertips were numb. What did you expect? There’s a mountain of ice above your head, more tons than even Bowen Marsh could count. Even so, the room felt colder than it should. “It is worse than I feared, my lord,” Marsh announced when he was done. He sounded gloomier than Dolorous Edd. Jon had just been thinking that all the meat in the world surrounded them. You know nothing, Jon Snow. “How so? This seems a deal of food to me.”

Jon takes his glove off and loses skin and maybe it gets even bloody?
In this chapter Jon is having problems with finding food and it is safe to assume that dragons are a threat to realm’s supplies. 
Jon thinks their best hope is untouched Eyrie- where his Tully cousin hides as a bastard: (source: Best Hope is in Eyrie) 
“If we had sufficient coin, we could buy food from the south and bring it in by ship,” the Lord Steward said. We could, thought Jon, if we had the gold, and someone willing to sell us food. Both of those were lacking. Our best hope may be the Eyrie. The Vale of Arryn was famously fertile and had gone untouched during the fighting. Jon wondered how Lady Catelyn’s sister would feel about feeding Ned Stark’s bastard. As a boy, he often felt as if the lady grudged him every bite.

He once again chooses his Stark family in this chapter:
Which would you have as Lord of Winterfell, Snow? The smiler or the slayer?” Jon said, “Winterfell belongs to my sister Sansa.”

C) ADWD; Daenerys VII & Jon IX:
Daenerys VII:
This is Dany’s wedding chapter and she learns about her father’s jealousy about married cousins Tywin and Joanna and she also thinks about a love between a Targaryen prince and a Stark lady:
“I want to know. I never knew my father. I want to know everything about him. The good and … the rest.” “As you command.” The white knight chose his words with care. “Prince Aerys … as a youth, he was taken with a certain lady of Casterly Rock, a cousin of Tywin Lannister. When she and Tywin wed, your father drank too much wine at the wedding feast and was heard to say that it was a great pity that the lord’s right to the first night had been abolished. A drunken jape, no more, but Tywin Lannister was not a man to forget such words, or the … the liberties your father took during the bedding.” His face reddened. “I have said too much, Your Grace. I—”
[...]
If he loved you, he would come and carry you off at swordpoint, as Rhaegar carried off his northern girl, the girl in her insisted, but the queen knew that was folly.

Tywin betrayed Aerys and Rhaegar’s love for Lyanna caused a big trouble for the realm... 
And we know that Daenerys is still waiting for a BETRAYAL FOR LOVE. 
The voices were growing louder, she realized, and it seemed her heart was slowing, and even her breath… three treasons will you know… once for blood and once for gold and once for love…

A blue flower grew from a chink in a wall of ice, and filled the air with sweetness… mother of dragons, bride of fire…

And next chapter is Jon who is a secret Targaryen and the son of Prince Rhaegar and Lyanna Stark. 
So Jon comes after betrayer Tywin. (betrayal)
He is the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna.. (love)
Who is the cousin? 
Well A SISTER comes to him in this chapter: 
A grey girl on a dying horse. Melisandre’s fires had not lied, it would seem. 
[ADWD; Jon IX]
According to Melisandre’s vision this “grey girl” should have been Jon’s sister but Alys Karstark came to him. 
“I have seen your sister in my fires, fleeing from this marriage they have made for her. Coming here, to you. A girl in grey on a dying horse, I have seen it plain as day. It has not happened yet, but it will.”  
[ADWD; Jon VI]
But in truth Jon’s only sister Rhaenys is dead and the only sisters Jon knows are his COUSINS actually. 
Which cousin? The one that fits into the “grey girl” prophecy. Sansa Stark... Who is now facing a new marriage. 
According to fan made reading order for AFFC & ADWD: (source: AFFC&ADWD reading order)
ADWD; Jon IX chapter is following AFFC;  Alayne II chapter where she learns about Petyr’s plans of marrying her with Harry Hardyng. 
So according to same reading order, this Alayne chapter comes between this Daenerys chapter and Jon chapter.

So the fake grey girl that comes after Dany chapter gives us the clues of Dany’s last betrayal for love by pointing out two cousins who are a Targaryen prince and a Stark lady. 
Let’s continue with ADWD; Jon IX: 
Queen Selyse descended upon Castle Black with her daughter and her daughter’s fool, her serving girls and lady companions, and a retinue of knights, sworn swords, and men-at-arms fifty strong. Queen’s men all, Jon Snow knew. They may attend Selyse, but it is Melisandre they serve.

We know that Jon dislikes Queen Selyse and he knows that she is actually a puppet of Melisandre. 
In one of his ADWD chapters he describes Selyse like this:
A word from Melisandre, and she would walk into the fire willingly, embrace it like a lover.
[ADWD; Jon X]
This description reminds me Daenerys Targaryen. 
Who did walk into flames willingly and embrace it like a lover? Daenerys Targaryen: 
She had sensed the truth of it long ago, Dany thought as she took a step closer to the conflagration, but the brazier had not been hot enough. The flames writhed before her like the women who had danced at her wedding, whirling and singing and spinning their yellow and orange and crimson veils, fearsome to behold, yet lovely, so lovely, alive with heat. Dany opened her arms to them, her skin flushed and glowing. This is a wedding, too, she thought.
[…]
And now the flames reached her Drogo, and now they were all around him. [...] Part of her wanted to go to him as Ser Jorah had feared, to rush into the flames to beg for his forgiveness and take him inside her one last time, the fire melting the flesh from their bones until they were as one, forever.

A rising heat puffed at her face, soft and sudden as a lover’s breath…

The interesting thing is that a Daenerys chapter follows this Jon X chapter where he describes Selyse.

Let’s keep reading Jon IX: 
If he is not a kinslayer, he is the next best thing. Axell Florent’s brother had been burned by Melisandre, Maester Aemon had informed him, yet Ser Axell had done little and less to stop it. What sort of man can stand by idly and watch his own brother being burned alive?

another Daenerys hint: Dany-Viserys or Jon killing his kin maybe?
“Salladhor Saan?” “The Lysene pirate? Some say he has returned to his old haunts, this is so. And Lord Redwyne’s war fleet creeps through the Broken Arm as well. On its way home, no doubt. But these men and their ships are well-known to us. No, these other sails … from farther east, perhaps … one hears queer talk of dragons.” “Would that we had one here. A dragon might warm things up a bit.” “My lord jests. You will forgive me if I do not laugh. We Braavosi are descended from those who fled Valyria and the wroth of its dragonlords. We do not jape of dragons.” No, I suppose not. “My apologies, Lord Tycho.”

Jon is warned against dragons.
D) ADWD; Daenerys IX & Jon XI:

Daenerys IX 
Dizzy, Dany closed her eyes. When she opened them again, she glimpsed the Meereenese beneath her through a haze of tears and dust, pouring up the steps and out into the streets. The lash was still in her hand. She flicked it against Drogon’s neck and cried, “Higher!” Her other hand clutched at his scales, her fingers scrabbling for purchase. Drogon’s wide black wings beat the air. Dany could feel the heat of him between her thighs. Her heart felt as if it were about to burst. Yes, she thought, yes, now, now, do it, do it, take me, take me, FLY!
[ADWD; Daenerys IX]
Daenerys rides Drogon for the first time and this looks like an orgasmic experience but don’t let it fool you: people in Meereen are not happy because they are dying etc... 
Next chapter is realm’s shield Jon:
Jon XI
Jon clasped the offered hand. The words of his oath rang through his head. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the fire that burns against the cold, the light that brings the dawn, the horn that wakes the sleepers, the shield that guards the realms of men. And for him a new refrain: I am the guard who opened the gates and let the foe march through. He would have given much and more to know that he was doing the right thing. But he had gone too far to turn back. “Done and done,” he said.
[ADWD; Jon XI]
He remembers his oath about protecting the realm.
He thinks Ghost (his Stark side) is the only protection he needs:
Ghost was the only protection Jon needed; the direwolf could sniff out foes, even those who hid their enmity behind smiles.
[ADWD; Jon XI]
Jon wants to scream that fire obsessed queen is not his queen. And he wants Selyse and Melisandre gone. 
[Stannis + Melisandre + Selyse = Daenerys]
Val’s playful smile died. “You have my word, Lord Snow. I will be a proper wildling princess for your queen.” She is not my queen, he might have said. If truth be told, the day of her departure cannot come too fast for me. And if the gods are good, she will take Melisandre with her.
[ADWD; Jon XI]
A northern princess doesn’t bend the knee to fire obsessed queen:
“The queen’s face hardened. “A grievous oversight.” What faint traces of warmth her voice had held vanished all at once. “Free folk do not kneel,” Val told her. “Then they must be knelt,” the queen declared.“Do that, Your Grace, and we will rise again at the first chance,” Val promised. “Rise with blades in hand.”

Jon remembers his Night’s Watch oath AGAIN:
“I know what I swore.” Jon said the words. “I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the fire that burns against the cold, the light that brings the dawn, the horn that wakes the sleepers, the shield that guards the realms of men. Were those the same words you said when you took your vows?”

So as we can see Daenerys’ bonding with her dragon doesn’t seem like a good omen for Westeros. But at least we have our shield and warrior: Jon SNOW. 
We are done with the chapters that follow each other but I am going to look at Daenerys’ last POV in ADWD too:

ADWD; Daenerys X:
A wolf howls when she thinks about her betrayals and it makes her sad and lonely but not less hungry:
Yet who else could it have been? Reznak, her perfumed seneschal? The Yunkai’i? The Sons of the Harpy? Off in the distance, a wolf howled. The sound made her feel sad and lonely, but no less hungry. As the moon rose above the grasslands, Dany slipped at last into a restless sleep.

Ants, which are coming from a WALL, bite Dany:
It turned out that their anthill was on the other side of her wall. She wondered how the ants had managed to climb over it and find her. To them these tumbledown stones must loom as huge as the Wall of Westeros. The biggest wall in all the world, her brother Viserys used to say, as proud as if he’d built it himself.

Wolves and crows are not good signs for her:
My flesh will feed the wolves and carrion crows, she thought sadly, and worms will burrow through my womb.

She embraces “Fire and Blood”:
No. You are the blood of the dragon. The whispering was growing fainter, as if Ser Jorah were falling farther behind. Dragons plant no trees. Remember that. Remember who you are, what you were made to be. Remember your words. “Fire and Blood,” Daenerys told the swaying grass.

In conclusion: Daenerys will be dangerous for Westeros. It seems like Jon and Starks will be against Daenerys at some point and in the end Daenerys will meet her doom because of them..

5e Gondar, the Bounty Hunter build (DOTA 2)

And here you were thinking that I wouldn’t actually make a DOTA 2 build; that’s where you’re WRONG! While this is sort of meant as my April Fools joke build I did actually play DOTA before migrating to League. I still love all the characters and I do genuinely think the gameplay has some strengths over LoL. The community...? Well, it exists.
Regardless back when I played DOTA I mained Bounty Hunter, which is rather ironic given I fucking hate League’s counterpart Bounty Hunter of Pyke. Gondar (yes his name is Gondar) was an extremely fun stealth assassin with a very unique passive to keep tabs on enemies at all times and inflate his teammates’ wallets. And apparently they magnified that even further by allowing Bounty to steal other heroes’ gold now with Jinada? Sweet Zeus Valve calm down with the feature creep...
Regardless: happy 5 days after April Fools! Hoes mad that I’m acknowledging DOTA’s existence.
GOALS
You can't fight what you can't see - DOTA is a lot more willing to give people invisibility. Helps when you can buy a gem that lets you see all invisible enemies.
The realm's justice - Jinada, que pasa? We need to be able to do big damage to critical points that weaken our enemies in a fight.
You can run but you can't hide - Your ultimate ability will be to track people down like some sort of... person who tracks people down for money.
RACE
Back in the Warcraft days Gondar was a Goblin, so a Goblin he shall be! As a Goblin you get a +2 to Dexterity and a +1 to Constitution, and Nimble Escape to get half of what a Rogue can do with your Bonus Action to Disengage or Hide (but not Dash.) And you get a nice bonus to take down big bounties (big in the literal sense) with Fury of the Small, allowing you to do extra damage equal to your level to a creature that’s bigger than you once per Short or Long Rest!
ABILITY SCORES
15; DEXTERITY - Is your refrigerator running? Well you’d better go catch it, because there’s a bounty on its head!
14; WISDOM - Wisdom is tied to tracking, and spoiler alert? We’re going to be doing a lot of tracking.
13; CONSTITUTION - We kinda don’t need anything else so may as well use that +1 from our race to get a nice boost to our HP.
12; INTELLIGENCE - Practical intelligence never hurt when tracking down gods and demons.
10; CHARISMA - You need to be able to talk to the people giving the bounties.
8; STRENGTH - You’re a small man with small knives.
BACKGROUND
Man, if only there was a background for a Bounty Hunter! We’ll be going for Urban Bounty Hunter from the Sword Coast Adventurer’s Guide because just because the name says “urban” doesn’t mean you can’t prowl around the Radiant jungle too. You can choose your proficiencies among a small list: I opted for Insight and Stealth. You also get proficiency with two musical instruments or gaming sets: I’d maybe ask about languages instead? But honestly pick your poison.
Your feature Ear to the Ground gives you plenty of information about whatever bounty you may be tracking, as you’ve got contacts in all places to slip you information about where a giant fishman may be. “The Tidehunter becomes the hunted.”

THE BUILD
LEVEL 1 - FIGHTER 1
You level Shuriken first on Bounty, you go for CON saves first in D&D. Along with those CON saves you also get proficiency in two skills from the Fighter list: Acrobatics will help you survive and Survival will also help you survive! But it’s mainly useful for tracking.
As a Fighter you can choose a Fighting Style at level 1: for a quick Shuriken Toss Superior Technique will let you grab the Quick Toss maneuver as well as a d6 Superiority die to use on said maneuver. It doesn’t take a lot to push Q and click on someone. Remember that your superiority die come back after a Short Rest, as well as a long one.
Finally as a Fighter you can hold onto a Bottle to use for a bit of Second Wind, healing for a d10 plus your Fighter Level as a Bonus Action. “A prudent hunter knows when to strike.” This ability also resets after a Short or Long Rest.
LEVEL 2 - FIGHTER 2
Second level Fighters can up their APM with Action Surge, allowing them to take two actions in a turn. The Wiki says the trick of attacking people during Shadow Walk’s Fade Time is still a thing, so yeah pro tips from a League player!
LEVEL 3 - FIGHTER 3
Third level Fighters get to choose their Martial Archetype and truth be told I just want to be able to throw more shuriken, so Battle Master it is for four more Combat Superiority dice! You can also learn three more Maneuvers other than Quick Toss: Disarming Attack will let you knock an enemy’s weapon away with Heaven’s Halberd, and both Commander’s Strike and Distracting Strike are good to team up with your allies to play support. “My allies have earned their keep.”
But of course the most important feature is Student of War; no shmuck politician is going to hire you unless you have Calligrapher’s Supplies proficiency to fool a god to sign off his power to you!
LEVEL 4 - FIGHTER 4
How about we slow them down a bit? The Slasher feat will increase your Dexterity by 1 but also allow you to slow enemies hit by 10 feet. Additionally if you crit you cripple them, giving them disadvantage on their attacks! This only works with Slashing damage, so technically you can only slow in melee range with a Scimitar. But if your DM is cool I’d totally allow Darts that do Slashing damage to slow at range!

LEVEL 5 - RANGER 1
First level Rangers get proficiency in one skill from the Ranger list: increase your map awareness and buy some wards for Perception. Additionally you get Deft Explorer from Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything, which grants you the Canny ability for two language proficiencies and Expertise in one skill of your choice. Your languages don’t matter too much but guess what? Survival is still used for tracking down bounties!
Speaking of those bounties you can mark them with not quite track thanks to Favored Foe. When you hit a foe you can choose to mark them and make them take an additional d4 once per turn for up to a minute! You need to concentrate on this effect though so you can’t just fire-and-forget like in DOTA, and can only use it a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus.
LEVEL 6 - RANGER 2
Second level Rangers get to choose a Fighting Style and you know what’s good for tossing shuriken? Thrown Weapon Fighting, letting you draw thrown weapons for free and giving you +2 damage to said thrown weapons!
But of course the main appeal of being a Ranger is the Spellcasting! You can learn two spells from the Ranger list: for a not quite stun that certainly isn’t mini Ensnaring Strike lets you throw a shuriken (or stab with your sword) to root an enemy in place. Alternatively if you want to track people super good Hunter’s Mark gives you advantage on Survival checks to track the person you marked, and also lets you do an extra d6 every time you hit the enemy!
It’s of course worth mentioning that both these spells require Concentration which means you can’t use them along with Favored Foe, but most of the Ranger spell list is Concentration.
LEVEL 7 - RANGER 3
Third level Rangers get to chose their subclass, and I hope you weren’t expecting Hunter just because the character is literally called “Bounty Hunter.” No we’ll be going for the Monster Slayer subclass, because certainly you only hunt monsters who have a price on their head for a reason, right? Regardless Hunter’s Sense will let you know what an enemy’s weaknesses are just by looking at them (and perhaps peeking at their inventory) with your Action. You can use this ability a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier and regain all expended uses at the end of a Long Rest.
But what we’re mainly here for is Slayer’s Prey, for more tracking marks! As a Bonus Action you can put another mark on a foe within 60 feet to make them take an extra d6 the first time you hit them! You can only have one target marked at a time with this ability, and it ends if you take a Short or Long Rest. This stacks with both Hunter’s Mark and Favored Foe, so pick your poison to do as much as you can to your foes!
You can also learn another first level Ranger spell like Snare, to set up in advance for bounties you know are coming. You get a lot more magic too: Monster Slayer Magic provides you with the Protection from Evil and Good spell, which is helpful for hunting down demons and fiends. You can also cast Speak with Animals once per day thanks to Primal Awareness, just in case you’ve been hanging around with Enchantress.
LEVEL 8 - RANGER 4
4th level Rangers get another Ability Score Improvement, but we still kinda need to be able to turn invisible? Good thing Shadow Touched lets you increase your Wisdom by 1 and gives you the Invisibility spell along with one Illusion or Necromancy spell of first level.
What first level spell will we be taking you may ask? Why if only there was a spell to squeeze more gold out of your bounties. Oh wait! Distort Value from Acquisitions Incorporated, allowing you to sparkle up your bounties for more gold! You can cast both of these spells once per Long Rest without using a spell slot, and can also cast them freely with your spell slots.

LEVEL 9 - RANGER 5
5th level Rangers finally get their Extra Attack. It’s about damn time to pick up some attack speed as a Martial Fighter.
You can also learn another spell like Locate Object, because sometimes items have bounties on them too. Speaking of spells Monster Slayer Magic gives you the Zone of Truth spell, and Primal Awareness gives you one casting of the spell Beast Sense, in case you want to ride along with Lifestealer.
LEVEL 10 - RANGER 6
6th level Rangers get Roving from Deft Explorer, increasing their movement speed by 5 and granting them a Climbing and Swimming speed equal to their walking speed, meaning you can follow your bounties through any terrain. Additionally Favored Foe increases to a d6 of damage, so while it’s still not really comparing to Hunter’s Mark it’s still helping!
LEVEL 11 - RANGER 7
7th level Monster Slayers have a Supernatural Defense against magic and crowd control. Whenever the target marked by your Slayer’s Prey feature forces you to make a saving throw or if you try to escape their grapple, you can add a d6 to your roll.
You can also learn another second level spell like Lesser Restoration, as a Dispel is never a bad thing to have.
LEVEL 12 - RANGER 8
Striking foes from the shadows is all well and good but you haven’t got many ways to keep yourself safe. (Other than using your Bonus Action to Disengage I guess.) The Mobile feat will speed you up and let you avoid hits after cutting a foe’s heels!

LEVEL 13 - RANGER 9
9th level Rangers get third level spells! This means you get:
Magic Circle from Monster Slayer Magic.
Speak With Plants from Primal Awareness.
And Revivify from the Ranger spell list (thanks Tasha’s), in case you need to help someone Buyback their respawn.
LEVEL 14 - RANGER 10
10th level Rangers are Tireless thanks to Deft Explorer. You can recover Exhaustion on a Short Rest, and can use an action to give yourself a boost of Temporary Hitpoints a number of times equal to your Proficiency bonus, which resets at the end of a Long Rest.
You also get more ways to turn invisible with Nature’s Veil, which lets you turn invisible until the start of your next turn. Like Tireless you have a number of uses equal to your Proficiency bonus, which come back at the end of a Long Rest. “Unseen.”
LEVEL 15 - RANGER 11
11th level Monster Slayers carry a ministun to deal with casters. When you see a creature casting a spell or teleporting within 60 feet of you, you can use your reaction to try to foil it with Magic-User’s Nemesis. The creature must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC, or its spell / TP fails and is wasted. You can only use this ability once per Short or Long Rest however, so be sure to stop the enemy from using a teleportation scroll.
Additionally you can learn another spell like Nondetection, for protection against wards.
LEVEL 16 - RANGER 12
12th level Rangers can grab another Ability Score Improvement: even though we have an uneven Wisdom score I’m still going to suggest maxing out your Dexterity first for the highest possible AC, damage, and dodging skills.

LEVEL 17 - RANGER 13
13th level Rogues can learn 4th level spells. You get Banishment from Monster Slayer Magic, but much more importantly you get Locate Creature from Primal Awareness for some proper Bounty Hunting! We’ll also be taking Locate Creature as our learnt spell at this level: one may say that it’s not the most useful spell, but if you need combat magic you can upcast Ensnaring Strike for a chain stun or Invisibility to dust up.
LEVEL 18 - RANGER 14
14th level Rogues see Favored Foe increase to a d8. Is this way too late for a feature that’s still arguably doing less than Hunter’s Mark? Perhaps, but Favored Foe still doesn’t cost your Bonus Action nor a Spell Slot.
You do also get Vanish to hide as a Bonus Action but... you could already do that. Oops.
LEVEL 19 - RANGER 15
15th level Monster Slayers are masters at 1v1ing squishy spellcasters, as you master the Slayer’s Counter. If the enemy you marked with Slayer’s Prey forces you to make a saving throw, you can use your reaction attack them! You make this attack immediately before the saving throw, and if your attack hits you automatically succeed your saving throw.
You can also learn another spell but honestly? Pick your choice. We got just about all the character-accurate spells we could need as is.
LEVEL 20 - RANGER 16
16th level Rangers get their last Ability Score Improvement and while it’s probably late to do this the Resilient feat in Wisdom will make sure the enemy has zero chance to CC you.
WHY NOT ROGUE
There's several reasons I opted for Ranger levels instead of Rogue levels. Firstly Bounty Hunter can crit targets even when not stealthed, and Jinada is described as "preparing" the next attack which is much more in-line with Hunter's Mark and Favored Foe. Gondar's code language is most likely Goblin speak as opposed to Thieves' Cant. And of course Ranger was the only way to acquire tracking spells like Hunter's Mark and Locate Creature.
But above all else there were few Rogue subclasses that fit Gondar. Soul Knife is perhaps the only one that makes sense but ironically enough the unlimited nature of the Soul Knife Psychic Blades doesn't fit. (Also long-ranged teleportation doesn't fit either.) Monster Slayer meanwhile brings the backline counterplay to Gondar and allows me to work in a lot of Bounty Hunter's utility abilities.
FINAL BUILD
PROS
I didn't come here to see my enemies grow rich - You have many ways to get the upper hand both in and out of combat, with both spells and martial prowess to aid you in combat. Between invisibility, Hunter’s Mark, Ensnaring Strike, or just generally tracking your enemy down you have all the tools you could need and more to get the jump on your foes.
Watch your head! - You are very strong against magic users and other enemies who force saving throws, and you didn’t even need the Mage Slayer feat! Monster Slayer is exceptionally good at giving one enemy an incredibly tough time killing you, especially if they rely on magic to do so.
Impressive technique, but not enough - A little bit of Constitution goes a long way, and a +2 to CON along with a d10 hit die will give you quite a bit of bulk in comparison to others.
CONS
A wise hunter knows patience - It takes quite a bit to set up all your marks, with several bonus actions to operate at maximum effectiveness. In fact you have an absolutely excessive amount of Bonus Actions to choose from which can make picking the right one very tricky.
My target eludes me - You also have several Concentration spells, and while your CON saves are good many of your spells are utility based you still can’t turn invisible while tracking down your bounty.
That's going to come out of my pay, isn't it? - Your Wisdom isn’t terrible but it’s not good either, and while most of your spells don’t rely on saving throws many abilities such as Hunter’s Sense and Magic-User’s Nemesis do rely on your Wisdom. I’m not saying Point Buy would be better but your Intelligence really isn’t doing much to help you.
But a good hunter knows what tool to use in any situation, and you have the tools to take out any target... for the right price, of course. Stalk your foes, strike when they least expect it, and reap the rewards for your allies. And if they're the type to complain that you're not from Runeterra simply remember that DOTA is better than League, and a LoL player can't deny.

Narcolepsy Saves The Day
(Little backstory: I’m running Out Of The Abyss, aka Rage of Demons, a D&D 5e module, so some people might be familiar with it. Short version: one of my players, a questionably-designed female dragonborn paladin with 9 dexterity and the criminal background, also wearing chainmail and afflicted with narcolepsy, is the focus of this story. Her player’s a very new 11-year-old, so she does a lot of “I want to try” during this campaign, just testing out what she can and can’t – and should and shouldn’t – do.
Note: the narcolepsy was originally a joke but she decided to keep it, so I made some rules for it. Anytime she rolls a nat 1 when making an ability check or attack roll, she falls asleep for 1d4 minutes or until woken via an action by another player or npc, or if she takes damage. My players are currently in the Underdark and wandering around in the tunnels. I roll on the random encounter table, and…)
Me: As you’re traveling along, you notice a group of merchants heading your way. They’re 4 drow, they’re not hostile, and you can trade with them. Two of them are riding giant lizards.
Paladin: (excited) Can I steal a lizard?!
Me: What? No, you can’t steal a giant lizard.
Paladin: Can I buy it?!
Me: (offhand guessing the price based on what I can recall of elephant mounts, which I’d looked up very recently) Sure, for 200g.
(They just escaped from slavery and have literally no wealth.)
Paladin: I have… (looks at sheet) 4 silver. Can I buy one for 4 silver?
Me: …The drow look at you strangely and one of them laughs. They ignore you.
Paladin: Can I trade myself for a lizard?
Me: I’m sorry, what?
Paladin: I want to trade myself for a giant lizard.
Me: You realize you’ll just be taken away and have no possessions and they’ll just keep the giant lizard anyway, right?
Paladin: Can I sell myself into slavery to ride a giant lizard?
Everyone: Are…you serious?
Me: You want to trade yourself into slavery just to ride a giant lizard?
Paladin: (100% serious) Yes.
(We eventually talk her down, making a few jokes about one of the lizards being her uncle James, and move on. The party proceeds to enter bartering while two characters, a rogue and a warlock, succeed in stealth checks to sneak around and start rummaging in the drows’ packs to steal some items. They do surprisingly well, but…)
Paladin: Oh, oh! I want to stealth too!
Everyone, immediately: What? No!! You’re wearing medium armor, you’ll ruin it!
(She’s trained in stealth but has a -1 in her dexterity and disadvantage thanks to her armor.)
Paladin: I wanna stealth! (looks at me)
Me: (thinking, “Here we go…” and already retrieving my drow stat notes) Roll for stealth with disadvantage.
Paladin: (rolls) …Natural 1…
Me: You fall asleep.
Paladin: NOOOOO!!
Everyone, relieved: Oh thank god.
Paladin: (looking around at the players) Wake me up!
Everyone: Nope.
Paladin: (frustrated groan)
(This is actually where I came up with the 1d4 minutes rule, because she kept asking me if she was awake yet, if she could make rolls to wake up, etc. It got frustrating, so I threw down a d4 and informed her that she was unconscious for the next 2 minutes.
Eventually the encounter moved on and the party made off with a stolen arcane focus and some gold, supremely happy that the paladin had narcolepsy. This isn’t the first time her narcolepsy had gold-star timing, but it was the most amusing. She’s still complaining that she never got a giant lizard and it’s been several sessions. On the bright side, she’s learned a lot since then, and her paladin eventually went evil and got killed by the rest of the party so she rolled a new, non-evil character and is playing much more smartly now.)
