Now that hockey season is over, what do I do now?

Honestly this was a bummer but not because Minnesota didn't deserve it. Minnesota played so much better than Boston tonight with the exception of Frankel who played phenomenally as always.

Also. Like. Heise played really well and I will not begrudge her the MVP award...... But...... It should've gone to Frankel. Aerin Frankel set and broke records for saving goals she played so well and so hard and she absolutely should've gotten that award.

What is your favorite T line?

Excellent question!! I have a soft spot for the Green Line, despite all its flaws. You really get the best of both worlds: the grungy, historic subway tunnel aesthetic and the fun above-ground trolley vibes! I love the angry, frantic, enthusiastic ding ding ding of the bell when a car or bike decides to fuck around and find out. And the way the tracks sing a beautiful aria just for you when you approach Boylston 😍 And who doesn’t looooove being crammed into a narrow train full of sweaty Red Sox fans and a malfunctioning air conditioner after a game on a hot summer day? (I know I sound sarcastic right now but I’m being dead serious. I get sad when people talk about how much they hate the Green Line. The Green Line has character. The Green Line is a character. She’s the heart and soul of Boston. She’s old and falling apart but she’s trying her best! She’s habitually running late and loves to scream and sometimes goes off the rails. I can relate.)

I’m especially fond of the design of the type 7 cars. Fun fact: have you ever noticed that all the old Green Line trolleys are made up of one type 7 car and one type 8 car? This is because despite being the fucking ugliest outer design of literally all the MBTA trains ever created, the type 8 cars have an accessible entrance while the type 7s don’t, so each train is legally required to have at least one accessible car. The new type 9 Green Line cars are all accessible though!

But yeah. The Green Line.

Of all the things to happen today I did not expect to hear that they named Brad Marchand, hockey's almost most widely hated player, captain of the Bruins. Congrats to him though like that's gonna piss so many people off i bet he's ELATED

far more compelling for me than the fact that narrators can time-travel is the reason WHY narrators can time-travel. in-universe acknowledgement of "nothing in their universe exists outside of the things that are 'on mic'". if it isn't in an episode, it didn't actually happen. that's an actual rule that exists in the story. it has been canonized.

the stamatis's parents never spent a second alive. gemma and charlotte never actually had their wedding. every single character has only existed as far back as their flashbacks can throw them. and that's IF they have flashbacks! flashbacks are not common! leon dragging michael out of the bar didn't get a flashback, so it didn't happen! like not in just the implicit way that applies to all characters in all stories, that's an in-universe rule!

but what's really getting me is this:

greater boston starts with leon killing himself. it starts because he kills himself. the foundation of the story is leon's death on the roller coaster. that's why everything else happens. leon's death makes something in their strange world into a story worth telling. the story is the only medium through which their world is allowed to exist.

leon's death is what brought their world into existence.

or, fun reversal, the world was created SO leon could die in it, which would then create a story intriguing enough to justify the existence of the rest of the world.
