If we don't laugh and love, we're not honoring the people in these stories.

Golyak: I absolutely agree with Al, that seriousness gives us an easy way out. It makes us separate ourselves from what's happening on stage. The closer the audience feels to the characters, the greater the chance they can imagine that we are in the same boat.

i really like how observational the animation and art direction in this segment was, whether it be from the shadows of the door against the curtains and the way the light reflects onto the TV screen, or the actual animation itself with the unconventional head tilts and angles. he really captures the dynamism and "awkward realism" of certain angles--if you're looking up at someone from the floor, they're not gonna have a petite, aesthetically pleasing neck. incredibly cool and incredibly inspiring
