Chainsaw Man Chapter 220 Thoughts
Tumblr media
I’m going to feel completely honest when it comes the latest chapter of Chainsaw Man.  These past couple weeks of delivering my thoughts on each chapter up until the day this one dropped was interesting.  It’s just that feeling of knowing I’m going to be like everyone else from hear on out where my share my thoughts on a chapter of Chainsaw Man whenever Tatsuki Fujimoto decides to release the next one. One thing that comes to mind is how this chapter faired knowing a simple fact we had to wait 2 weeks.
Let me just preference with an phrase I used in the previous chapter thoughts. Fool me once, shame once you. Fool me twice shame on me. Fool me three times  shame on us both. Is it possible we could add a Fool me four times? I say that because of what transpired at the very beginning. Nayuta unveiled a chain from the tip of her finger onto Asa/Yoru which commanded her to act like a dog.  When approached by Denji as to why such a thing was committed?  Nayuta straight up told him that she spat on him and he demanded for her to turn Asa back to normal. Nayuta doesn’t budge because she’s hungry and won’t do anything until then, which Denji obliges to cook something thus leaving Nayuta excited. In the middle of their meal, Denji repeats to Nayuta to turn Asa back to normal after she’s finished with her food while keeping the dogs away who wanna have some of the cooking he made. Asa rested by a few of the other dogs alongside meowy <- the cat which belonged to Power previously.
Nayuta raises a serious point to Denji about the woman who’ve entered his life tend end his life. That almost implies that he’s told her about Reze and Makima, or at the very least has alluded to them at some point between the end of Part 1 and Part 2.  She asks  him what makes Asa different from the other woman, and Denji just says it’s based on a feeling he has about her. Nayuta agrees to turn Asa back  normal on two specific conditions. She is allowed to eat ice cream every day, and that’s is fine with Denji as long as he gets some too. The second condition is that Nayuta doesn’t want him to be friendly with Asa anymore because she doesn’t like her sent, and would even decide to alter her memories so that Asa believes he never showed up.  Denji isn’t exactly too fond of the idea, but it’s also noted how much Nayuta values him in her life.  Of course, given the state of everything that’s happened in his life, Denji puts Nayuta first above all leaving her to give a cheery smile with a simply peace sign in a manner that was similar to the one Denji made during Part 1.
Finally,  Asa is seen back at the school around  the evening hours by the front where Yoru notes that Denji stood them up, and that perhaps it would be to pursue a different guy.  She believes of a possibility that Denji might’ve just forgotten which didn’t bother her <-  more of the contrary to say the least,  and goes through deep in-depth analysis of copium for why things turned out the way they did for her.  Yoru isn’t exactly super impressed by the way things are turning out for Asa’s thought process of convincing herself. That is while she questioned why that’s bothering her when it should be focused on being in control of her body again like before.  Out of nowhere, Yoshida pops into the scene asking Asa if she’s okay, and if he can be given some company for a bit since she’s got nothing better to do bringing a close to the chapter.
All in all, I give this chapter of Chainsaw Man a Pure Perfection rating. There isn’t anything more that I could’ve asked for in a followup to the previous one, and yes it took a turn in a direction I didn’t necessarily expect. However, it is without a doubt one of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s strongest suites as a writer and a mangaka. The dynamic Denji and Nayuta share together was honestly the biggest highlight for me with this chapter, and it continues to showcase really how much more growth Denji has gone through then what we’ve initially realized since the events of Part 1. Their bonding stems from a big brother- little sister relationship, and it’s just wholesome and amazing.  Part of me does have to wonder about Yoshida’s role in Part 2 because it’s felt kind of suspicious and the way this chapter ended continues to leave that sensation.  By the looks of things we won’t be getting another chapter until next Tuesday which I’m totally fine with especially since it’ll be the end of this current volume (#14). That being said, this is pretty much all I’ve gotta say when it pertains to this week’s chapter of Chainsaw Man, but I do hope you all stay safe out there and take care of yourselves!

i’ve been having trouble reading as much lately. i think part of it is focus bcs it’s starting to get a bit warm in the house during the day and it makes it difficult for me to focus. and i feel hot and cold towards A Terrible Glory sometimes. i think it’s interesting, then sometimes it’s kinda boring. i think i like the cult of personality stuff with Custer but sometimes the descriptions of the campaigns are so dry... i actually just finally reached the part where they start fighting the actual Battle of Little Bighorn (about 220 pages in) so maybe it’ll get more interesting from here.
that said. man and i think i’m gonna be able to pick up that fucking hefty ass bio Chernow did on Ulysses S Grant and get through it??? i was going to pick it up after i finished A Terrible Glory but i think trying to read Grant while also still chipping away at The World sounds like a mess. maybe i’ll take a break after A Terrible Glory and read some fiction instead. i was meaning to read My Heart is a Chainsaw or Little Big Man but started on ATG instead.

The blogs that were removed from the Isola Radiale masterlist are under the cut. Note that both blogs with broken links and deactivated accounts will be included both at the top of this list and in their proper categories.
If you were removed in error, please simply send a re-application message. Several different people work on the activity checks, so it’s possible there are mistakes! If this happens to you, you will be able to keep everything you previously had, you just may be placed in a different residence.
Our general activity rules regarding checks are as follows:
Make at least two in-character posts during a calendar month (for instance, if the activity check is for May, have two in-character posts between the 1st and 31st of May).
Only one meme response of 300+ words counts as activity.
Only one drabble of 500+ words counts as activity.
One-liners or minis not tagged #isola mini also do not count.
Please Note: If you are removed during two consecutive activity checks, you will not be allowed to re-apply as that character for one calendar month.
Additionally, anyone removed during the activity check will have a 12-hour window from the time of posting to re-claim their character. Any character not reclaimed during that period will be open to the community at large.

How gardening helps you lose weight and live longer
Tumblr media
Gardening is not only fun, but it is also suitable for health and living fit. So gardening helps you lose weight and live healthy and longer. That known 'gardening is healthy because you exercise a lot in the fresh air is nothing new. But did you know that gardening can even help you lose weight? At a time when almost everyone is sitting too much, moving too little, and the scales are moving more and more towards obesity, any form of physical activity is good for the rusty musculoskeletal system and the maintenance of the slimline. So what could be more obvious than combining the useful physical exercises and beautiful botanical gardens in your home? Lean through gardening is a simple recipe, because digging, planting, cutting, and weeding is effective whole-body workouts. If you want to work off a bunch of bacon after the long winter months, gardening in spring gives you the best chance. When the first rays of sunshine lure onto the terrace, the desire for fresh air and exercise comes naturally. So go out into the green and initiate the sports program to lose weight. So you can easily become slim through gardening. Planting beds are not only fun, but it also helps you lose weight You might also like : 3 ways to grow kale which will definitely be your favorite Lose weight with gardening It is well known that regular work in the green is healthy and keeps you fit. Gardeners spend a lot of time outdoors, eat more consciously, and have a lot of exercise. If you're struggling with being slightly overweight and therefore want to take a more targeted approach, gardening can also help you lose weight. For example, a 5'7 feet tall and 176 lb heavy middle-aged woman burns around 320 kilocalories in one hour with vegetable patches. The cutting of trees and bushes with the electric hedge trimmer has a good 220 kilocalories after 60 minutes. If she uses hand scissors instead of the machine, it is even up to 290 kilocalories. And men also get a proper sports program when gardening: a 5'9 feet tall, 198 lb man burns over 470 calories within an hour of wood chopping. Sixty minutes of pushing the lawnmower require almost as much energy - of course, a little more with the hand mower than with the motor mower. With 30 minutes of leaves, a 45-year-old man can get rid of about 150 kilocalories. Gardening helps you lose weight with the belly, legs, trowel If you want to lose weight while working in the garden, you must observe the basic rules of sporting activity (especially if you are overweight). Before you get into the flower beds fall, you should warm up and stretch a little. This warming up is especially true if you want to lift heavy equipment (e.g., chainsaw or electric hedge trimmers) or are planning more extensive digging work. Do not bend down, but bend your knees. Keep your back straight and tense your stomach and buttocks during all work, so gardening becomes an effective fitness program. It is best to carry heavy objects in front of your body. When dragging watering cans, never let your arms hang limp, but tense your upper arm muscles.  Attention: if the pain becomes noticeable, it is better to stop and take a break and drink enough water. Plucking weeds burn almost 260 calories an hour. Learn gardening without having a garden In order to create a slimline by gardening in the fresh air, it is not even absolutely necessary to have your own garden. If you fancy gardening instead of a gym or pedaling on the exercise bike, but don't have a garden, just ask your friends or neighbors if you can support them in gardening. Especially at the time of planting and harvesting, many gardeners are happy to have a helping hand! Or you can take part in projects such as the "Green Gym," where public parks and green areas are brought up to speed in loose groups. Losing weight with gardening is not only suitable for yourself, but also the general public and you also get to know new friends. Up to 390 kilocalories are flattened per hour together with the potting soil Fit and healthy in the garden If you plan gardening as a fitness program, you should pay particular attention to regularity. Do not work hard all weekend, but try to work in the garden two or three times a week for about two hours if possible. It doesn't always have to be sweaty. Picking or cutting flowers for half an hour burns up to 100 kilocalories, which is more than ten minutes of jogging! If you now round off the fitness program with the healthy enjoyment of home-grown vegetables and fruit, you will feel fit, slim, and healthy in no time. And even when bringing in the harvest, the pounds keep falling. So burn 60 minutes of fruit harvesting between 190 and 230 kilocalories. And if motivation leaves something to be desired, remember that working in your own garden is definitely more fun than working in a monotonous gym or jogging through the streets. So get to the shovel, hoe, and cultivator and one and two. Read the full article

Fic Author Tag Game
Tagged by @zerounitrgb! Thanks!
AO3 Name: CloversDreams
Fandoms: My Hero Academia, Black Clover, Bungo Stray Dogs, Given, Nezha, Dr. STONE, Good Omens, Chainsaw Man, Kingdom Hearts, Noblesse
(Not really writing for the crossed out ones right now. But who knows, I may do so again... inspiration can strike at the most random of times.)
Number of Fics: 175 works on Ao3, which you’d think would be split evenly among the fandoms above. Nah. 103 of them are for HeroAca. That’s what happens when you have a single main fandom for four years haha
Tagging: Any writer that follows me and wants to give this a go!
1) Fic you spent the most time on: Beasts Within. My long-ass wereanimal fic. Sheesh that one took months to complete. It was a different time, however. I had lots of fun talking to readers in the comments and they kept motivating me to continue on. I don’t think I could write something so long nowadays.
2) Fic you spent the least time on: The collections of drabbles I’ve posted. I try not to spend more than 45 mins to an hour on a single drabble, and those would be on the longer side. Sometimes it doesn’t work out that way but I do try.
3) Longest fic: Beasts Within. 156k, 22 chaps. This honestly feels like it was from a different lifetime.
4) Shortest fic: Bad End (1500 words). This one is for my Chainsaw Man ship. It’s the shortest and angstiest fic I have. Pure angst, no happy ending. Character death. I guess you might call it a vent fic? I wasn’t in a great place when I wrote it.
5) Most hits: Beasts Within with 29,380
6) Most kudos: Beasts Within 1,275
7) Most comment threads: Beasts Within with  220... for ref the next highest number is 30. So you can see the major difference.
8) Fave fic you wrote: This is the worst question. I might be able to narrow it down by ship but even that could take all evening ugh.
9) Fic you want to rewrite/expand on: This one WIP that ended up in limbo. In theory the fic would’ve been pretty cool, but after I dropped it I just simply haven’t been able to get back to working on it. It has been a few years. RIP.
10) Share a bit of your WIP or share a story idea that you’re planning: My current WIP is about my Noblesse OT3 because their tag is empty and I have the urge to correct this travesty. Also have a bunch of ideas for other fics for other fandoms... I need more hours in a day thanks.

The 221st Chainsaw
Written from: Sukadana, West Kalimantan.
Tumblr media
Picture: Mursidi (right) and Pak Augus reading through the terms of their agreement.
Last Thursday I was sitting cross-legged on the floor of a doorless house taking part in my first “chainsaw buyback” ceremony. I was accompanied by the host’s family, multiple ASRI staff and a National Park ranger - all overseen by a giant yellow teddy bear. After 23 years of logging, two months of negotiations and god knows how many felled trees, Mursidi was hanging up his chainsaw.
It was the 221st ceremony that ASRI had conducted as part of their 15 year health-conservation programme, which works to incentivise local communities to stop logging in the nearby Gunung Palung National Park. In return for his commitment to quit, Mursidi and his wife would receive 4 million IDR worth of in-kind support from ASRI to help set up a new business selling Areca nuts. They would also receive a 6 million IDR loan, to be paid back over two years. That’s a total of $700 USD.
As individual actions go, this was incredibly moving to witness. So much of what I’ve experienced in Sukadana has simultaneously restored my faith in humanity and further entrenched my anger about the apathy that so many in the West express towards the climate and ecological crisis. Whilst some refuse to sort through their recycling because it will “probably get burned anyway”, a man at the wrong end of the poverty line was giving up the only source of income he had ever known in a bid to protect his local rainforest.

Picture: Mursidi fires up his chainsaw for the very last time.
There is a phrase here that goes“Tak kenal, tak sayang." If you don’t know something, you can’t love it. For me, this was that moment. The commitment that Mursidi was making - made all the more moving by our humble surroundings, his beaming ageing parents and his almost toothless wife - had me on the verge of tears. Thankfully, I managed to hold them back. Having had absolutely nothing to do with any of the day’s achievements it would have been gratuitous for me to steal the limelight. However, that feeling has been stuck in my throat ever since.
There is a legitimate debate back home about the power of individual action. What’s the point in trying to avoid palm oil, beef or soya when - as recent studies show - the Amazon is being logged at a rate so unprecedented that it has now become a net emitter of carbon? How can one person’s actions possibly make a dent against the likes of the food giant Cargill which is profiting off this destruction and still not being held accountable? What can someone in Europe do about the oil spills that are threatening the lives of multiple human and non-human species across Peru, Ecuadorian Amazon and Nigeria?
What we have to remind ourselves is this: this sense of apathy is a delusion. If the actions and desires of Westerners had no consequences, the world would be a very different place today. If the decisions that we make on a daily basis had no impact, the “chainsaw buyback” ceremony that I witnessed last week would not have been necessary.

For as long as I can remember I have expressed (and felt, deeply) a concern that “the world is running out”. I now recognise what that means. Opportunities to witness nature at her most raw are few and far between and planetary destruction can at times seem both inevitable and unstoppable. As Dr Kinari Webb puts it in her memoir; “in dark nights of the soul, it is hard to remember that there are butterflies.” But, as she goes on to argue, that is no reason not to try.
I was reminded by a somewhat questionable LinkedIn post this week that individual actions can take multiple different forms. Some, such as giving up meat and switching lightbulbs, can seem futile in the scheme of things. Others - supporting indigenous land rights, campaigning against new oil fields, protesting to protect our civil liberties - hold much more visible weight.
Not everyone has a chainsaw that they can give up. But what Mursidi’s commitment has shown is that we are all uniquely capable of making contributions within the constructs of our own lives and the unique set of circumstances that they hold. We can all use our voices, our wallets and (especially in the West) our privilege to collectively affect change. Ultimately it’s one of the most self-interested moves we can make, because we all depend on a functioning planet to survive.
In her memoir (yes, I'm obsessed) Kinari Webb shares a line by Alice Walker: “ecstasy is uncut forest and the smell of fresh baked bread”. Whatever our ecstasy is, and whatever activities we chose to take to protect it, we have no choice but to try. Because butterflies do still exist, and in some corners of the world ancient rainforests are still, miraculously, intact. We all have a responsibility to ensure that this continues to be the case.

Stihl 041 Farmboss I bought an 041 Farmboss used for $125 about five years ago and it's been my principle firewood cutting saw since. It was almost cherry then and had a 16' bar/chain on it when I bought it, but I now use a 20' on it. I can bog it down, but I really have to load it to do that.
