❌*No MLMs or Direct Sales, Please!*❌ ⠀ Y’All….it’s 2021 and I still see these kind of statements everywhere!⁣⁣ 😫 ⁣⁣ "Ok, I’m looking for an all natural, energy supplement, but no MLMs, please." “I’m looking for an amazing nutrition program, but no MLMs, please.”⁣⁣ “I am looking for a new moisturizer, but no MLMs, please.” “I’m looking for an opportunity to work from home and make money, but no MLMs, please.” ⁣“I am looking for this or that, but no MLMs, please.”⁣ ⁣⁣ And I think to myself...but why wouldn’t you want to support a mom or dad trying to raise their kids from home?⁣⁣ Or your friend, sister, aunt, brother, uncle, niece, nephew, or cousin?⁣ Or a college student trying to juggle school and make some sort of income?⁣⁣ Or someone trying to not live paycheck to paycheck anymore?⁣⁣ LIKE WHY NOT?!?!? 🤔 Because they’ll earn a commission on your sale? ⠀ Because you think the products don’t work? ⠀ Because if you buy from them, they might end up building a business? 🤷🏻‍♀️ What’s so terrible about that? ⠀⠀⠀ I see it all the time and I think - GOSH, imagine having that mindset towards people who are simply trying to better themselves by sharing something they LOVE. SUPPORT People. ENCOURAGE People. BE KIND to People. 🙌🏼💜🙌🏼🧡🙌🏼💚🙌🏼💜🙌🏼🧡🙌🏼💚🙌🏼💜🙌🏼🧡🙌🏼💚🙌🏻 Regardless of what folks think about MLM’s or Direct Sales almost every single business is built on the same strategies and business model. Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Giant Eagle, Amazon, Kay Jeweler, The Dollar Tree, lol, etc. They don’t make all the products we purchase from them, they buy them from a distributor, and mark them up for a profit. 💁🏻‍♀️ We don’t question that at all? So, why not support a person you actually know, who is putting in the work for the love of the product(s) they are sharing about? They are only trying to change their stars! Friend Zone

So I’ve been thinking about the premise of the friend zone. What the hell is the friend zone? Is it like the phantom zone in Superman Lore? A prison of torture where you’re forced to observe what you care about or desire the most but are unable to interact with it in any meaningful way? They say the friend zone is a situation in which a friendship exists between two people, one of whom has an unreciprocated romantic or sexual interest in the other.  What causes this to happen? This whole idea of love, relationships, friendships can be quite a complex mixture of events. There are specific qualities that you look for in a lover, there are specific qualities that you look for in a friend. Some of the qualities overlap. So what draws the line? Sometimes it’s timing. Sometimes one party is already in a relationship and only has a spot open for a friend. Sometimes one party is emotionally unavailable. Usually, though, we’re looking for a spark, a standout feeling of mutual attraction. The truth is that isn’t always present. We have notions of what that will feel like; someone who undoubtedly makes their attraction and intentions towards us clear. Without that spark, that person may simply appear as a really good person to have around.

Which brings us to the plight of the nice guy. The nice guy’s biggest mistake is thinking that aggression is synonymous with being offensive or invasive. The nice guy wants to avoid making the object of his affection feel uncomfortable but in so doing he fails to show his desire in a clearly communicable way. This in-turn fails to trigger his would-be lover. Now, it is indeed a gamble and the reaction can be either positive or negative. However, the result will not be the famous prison known as the friend zone. The stereotypical nice guy has the fundamental flaw of not having any of his kindness directing inwards. The fallacy is how can you truly be compassionate without having proper regard for your own well-being? To all the nice guys out there...I implore you don’t sentence yourself to prison. Be nice! but include yourself too! State what it is that you want to be, if they’re not ok with that, it truly sucks. Feel terrible, feel disappointed and pick your ass up and don’t waste another second of niceness on someone who doesn’t deserve it.

Eight years with an eating disorder ... eight years with PPD and undetected anxiety (because the PPD kinda took all my attention) ... and then we finished college (five years of fun but also great tribulation) and Kerry got a job and I didn’t have to work anymore ... We had accomplished our goal! Living the dream!! ... and I had one of the deepest dives into depression I’d ever had. I love working. I do not find life’s fulfillment in my children, as wonderful as they are, and being a SAHM was the absolute pits (for me. Not passing judgement.). So, and here the story gets kind of murky because so many things were happening at once (but my brother and SIL asked me to do calligraphy for their wedding, I remember that being the impetus), I started an Etsy store. And when I found myself too dependent upon this month’s sales or if I’m up over last year I dived into yoga, with the intent of pursuing my certifications. And I’m working on my attitude: the greatest change, I think, starts there. Being grateful for what is, for the smell of coffee first thing in the morning, for the people that bring you joy ... being, as they say, in the moment ... this is the first change. So today I am grateful that our livelihood does not depend upon my shop, because that means I’m free to take risks and spend just a little bit too much when shopping for new supplies. I’m grateful for my front porch and my swing, because I am at peace when I use them. I’m grateful that, despite all my physical injuries, I’ve found a way to practice both yoga and Pilates -and- start running again (runners high ... I loves it❤️). I’m grateful that I’m able to allow my kids self-determination during their school years, homeschooling or packing them off to our neighborhood school depending upon how they felt that year. I’m grateful for my faith, scarred as it is, because He walks ever beside me, and doesn’t really care how messy it gets.
