An overdose prevention site is coming to Charlottetown, the Prince Edward Island government announced Tuesday.

The site, at 33 Belmont St., will provide a safer, supervised space for people to take drugs they already have, the province said.

Government says the location was chosen because it’s in a mix-use area that is within walking distance to key services.

“Treatment, prevention, and harm reduction all work together to help build healthy and safe communities. As a harm reduction service, the overdose prevention site will help save lives and connect people to available supports and services,” said Ernie Hudson, minister of health and wellness, in a news release. The province says, with drug overdoses on the rise on the Island, the location is a strategic option based on the urgent need, construction timelines and implementation costs.

Ismael's fourth birthday

Dear diary,

My son Ismael is already four years old. He loves being a big boy now and is looking forward to going to school with his older brothers. So sweet to see them grow up.

The childeren are all very excited when daddy makes a cake. He makes the best ones. Then the celebration, and after that they can finaly eat cake.

My big boy!

We thought it was time for a new familyportrait. With my boys growing up so fast we need to make time for that.

Since it was the weekend we all went to the parc. They boys loved playing in the spaceship. Ismael was so excited to play with the big boys on the big playset. There is a five year age gap between him and Rafael. Ismael is always looking up to his older brother.
