and the smell of camphor dancing in the wind.

✦ featuring: alhaitham.
✦ warnings: angst, character death (reader), heartache, 1.2k words, somewhat proof-read.
✦ notes: i cried so goddamn hard writing this. why is my first work after hiatus pain. why did i pick up the angst wip. but!! i'm writing again, so that's good. (more notes at the end.)
Tumblr media
he didn’t know that it was your last day together.
he didn’t know that the smile you gave him that afternoon, your eyes sparkling like sunlight upon the serene waves of the ocean, would be the last he’d ever see. that the playful light in your gaze would fade so very soon, slipping through his fingers like sand.
he didn’t know that last night would be the last time he held you close while you drifted off to sleep. he didn’t know that today would be the last time he’d wake up with you.
he didn’t think he’d lose you like this.
he didn’t think he wouldn’t be able to save you from that blow.
“please, please,”  he begs, both to you and to whatever force that is just barely holding you together. “just stay with me for five more minutes, please. until i can get you somewhere.”
the rain soaks him to the bone, clothes and hair sticking to his skin. your lips stay motionless, eyes shut.
“wake up, please,”  he bargains. “you can have all the five minutes of extra sleep you want later, i promise. just—”  his vision blurs, and something shines on the ground before it is gone, swallowed by damp earth, lost amidst drops of falling rain.
desperately, he tears off parts of his traveling cloak to staunch the bleeding. deep inside, he knows it is futile. he knows your wound is too great. he knows what lies ahead. but he cannot help but press the cloths to your wound and pray.
please, please tell me it’ll be okay.
please stay with me, beloved. i’ll read you all the books in the world. i’ll sleep in with you everyday, even if we end up whiling away our time.
please. stay. stay with me. i can’t lose you yet.
“— just wake up, beloved.”
by some miracle, your eye flutters. just a bit. just enough to set hope ablaze, just enough for the grip on his heart to loosen a tiny bit. he buries his face in your shoulder, resting his head against your neck, uncaring of the blood that stains his clothes. your blood. on his clothes. his hands. everywhere.
no. no. this can’t be happening.
he feels you strain beneath him, your unwounded arm gently, weakly brushing his back. he jolts upright, eyes trained on your face. you send a frail smile his way. he clasps your face softly as you nuzzle into his palm.
“alhaitham—”
his full name. archons, how long has it been since you called him that?
“— take good care of yourself, okay?” you tell him, chest heaving, your fingertips touching a tear on his cheeks. “i love you. so much.”
those are the last words he hears fall from your lips. he presses a kiss to your forehead, to your eyelids, and to your cheeks and to your lips, over and over and over until he feels your breath slow, hoping they’ll say what he knows he cannot manage to choke out.
i love you.
he stays there next to you for who knows how long, holding you until the rain slows and a faint rainbow smiles in the sky.
until he can’t smell camphor anymore.
every person has their curiosities.
they’re just the little traits that set them apart from others, the things that make them tick just a little bit differently, the things that make them, them.
for instance, someone may be obsessed with collecting tiny furniture, while another eats the crusts off their sandwich before actually consuming it. someone may have an affinity for the most niche aspects of linguistics, while another can accurately predict the next raindrop that slides down a window pane.
after all, no two people are exactly alike, are they?
alhaitham knows he’s got his fair share of these curiosities himself. his aversion to soup and all things that resemble it, to name one. and with you, he’d noticed two things.
number one: the scent of camphor that seems to linger on every inch of your person.
he’d caught whiff of it almost immediately the first time you met. you were but one of his juniors in the akademiya, filled with bright-eyed curiosity and anxiety to match. you had tripped over a stair and bumped into his table in the library, bringing the mountain of books in your arms crashing down.
and with subsequent coincidental meetings, he learnt that the subtle scent of camphor dancing in the air meant you weren’t far away.
you were, unfortunately, one of the poor souls who seemed to be cursed with constantly recurring minor illnesses, and almost always walked about with a stuffy nose. and so, you always carried a small disc of camphor in a handkerchief, as well as in your pocket.
you swore up and down, left, right and center that sniffing the vapors helped make breathing easier.
‘it’s my grandmother’s remedy, alhaitham! camphor always works wonders. well, that and eucalyptus oil.”
alhaitham may not know the validity of your claim or the legitimacy of the cure, but he knew to never, ever question a grandmother’s remedy. that, and he’d much rather refrain from starting a back-and-forth about something so small.
and number two: your neverending pleas of different variations of ‘just five more minutes!’
“five more minutes, ‘haitham. please.” you’d whine grumpily when he woke you up to start your day. “let me sleep in for five more minutes.”
“five more minutes, habibi,” you’d ask when he put down the story you’d requested he read out to you before bedtime. “read me the part where she finds the music box?”
“five more minutes, baby,” is what you’d tell him when he asks how much longer you’d take getting ready. “you can’t rush perfection!”
those five more minutes were never five minutes long.
but he’d always, always indulged you and those pleading eyes of yours. as stoic as he appeared to be, you lived in his heart. of course he could never deny you anything under the sun.
alhaitham remembers that silly little song you sang over and over, the one you’d learnt from a kid in the bazaar. he’d taken you to see one of nilou’s performances, and, friendly soul that you were, you’d struck up a conversation with some of the eager audience members before the play.
“oh, how i wish i was a bird flying free,
i’d see the world, every mountain and every sea!
oh, how i wish i was a cloud in the sky,
wouldn’t you like to wave to me as i pass by?”
you’d hum that rhyme on every idle afternoon.
loss is inevitable. he knows that, with how logical and rational and straightforward he is. he’d lost his parents, but he was far too young to remember. he’d lost his grandmother, but she passed in her sleep of old age, serene and wise.
but you? he didn’t think you’d leave him this soon. a singular wish sits in his soul, making its home in his bones.
a wish that you’d come back, somehow.
he wishes you gave him five more minutes, just as he always did.  but he knows that you could’ve given him five more hours, five more days, five more years and five more decades and it would still not be enough time spent with you.
a blue feathered bird comes to perch on his shoulder, interrupting his musings just as he raises his face to the sky. he sees the heart shaped cloud that floats idly above sumeru city.
he thinks of the rhyme again, and something in him tells him to wave. and so he does. a scent so familiar lingers, faintly brushing his nose in the wind that picks up.
“alhaitham, it's time to go.”  kaveh calls his name softly.
alhaitham doesn't move. “five more minutes,”  he says, echoing your favorite phrase. “i smell camphor in the breeze.”
Tumblr media
✦ extra notes: my alhaitham characterization for this fic stems from how i believe that when alhaitham is attached, he's attached. so i focused more on that, and less of all that rationality and whatnot. this one loves deeply, yk?
that camphor thing is a real grandma remedy in our household (my mom would tie some in a hanky and put some under my pillow and still to this day reminds me to do it when i'm sick) which is what originally sparked the idea for this
when i'd initially started this wip, i didn't expect it go this way. usually i write with my brain, but i think i wrote this one with my fingers working faster than i can think hsjhsj so sorry if it's kinda out of place lmao but yk what? i'm happy with it still even though i feel like it doesn't have my usual quality.
thanks for reading.

The Subtle Art of Finding Joy in the Mundane
In the dizzying whirlwind of our modern lives, with its notifications, deadlines, and endless to-do lists, it's easy to overlook the little things. Our quest for big achievements, exotic vacations, and grand celebrations often overshadows the understated moments that make up our daily lives. Yet, there's a profound beauty and solace in the mundane, waiting to be discovered.
The Magic of Morning Rituals
Consider the simple act of brewing your morning coffee or tea. The aromatic scent that wafts through your kitchen, the warmth of the mug against your palms, and that first invigorating sip – it's a ritual that beckons a new day, filled with possibilities. It's not just about the caffeine kick, but the quiet moments we grant ourselves before the day's chaos ensues.
Nature's Everyday Theater
Look out of your window. Even if you're in the heart of a bustling city, nature is putting on a daily show. The radiant hues of a sunrise, the gentle rustle of leaves in the breeze, or even the rhythmic patter of rain against the windowpane. These are nature's gentle reminders of its cyclic rhythm, urging us to pause and sync our own rhythms with the world around us.
The Joy of Daily Tasks
Believe it or not, there's a meditative quality in mundane chores. The rhythmic act of washing dishes, the soft hum of a vacuum cleaner, or the therapeutic act of decluttering can be grounding experiences. They tether us to the present moment, offering a break from the incessant noise in our heads.
Conversations and Connections
Everyday joy is also about connections. A brief chat with a neighbor, a spontaneous phone call to a friend, or even the simple act of greeting your local grocery store cashier can forge bonds. It's in these fleeting interactions that we find a shared human experience.
Rediscovering Your Space
Sometimes, joy is about rediscovery. Re-read a favorite book, revisit old photographs, or rearrange your furniture. Familiar spaces and objects can offer new perspectives and insights when looked at with fresh eyes.
Wrapping Up
The art of finding joy in the mundane is essentially about shifting our perspective. It's about appreciating life's quiet moments and finding depth in simplicity. It's recognizing that while milestones and grand celebrations are significant, there's immeasurable joy to be found in the spaces in between.
In the words of novelist Alice Walker, "Expect nothing. Live frugally on surprise." Life's everyday surprises, no matter how small, are the threads that weave the beautiful tapestry of our existence. So, let's cherish them.

@spot-o-bodysnatchin :
#62 of the horrible questions? :)
62: What makes you happy?
Lately? Good Omens! (The fixation is going strong I'm worried lol)
On a more serious note, I do find pleasure and happiness in so many little things. I love to listen to music. I love taking the bus and seeing the city go by. I love cloudy mornings, I love when it rains. I love when there's too much sun, and the colors the sky gets at dawn and dusk. I love to be alone, and I love to be with the people I love. I love how my mom makes my lunch. I love my work and my routine. I love to read and to write. I love how birds are always around, and how many and different they are. I love to dance and to see people dancing. I love coffee. I love to eat.
There's so many things that makes me happy that I could never write them all, but overall are not really big things yk? I just like to cherish my everyday joys :)

Broken Things
One day you are bound to find your favorite broken. Call it senescence, call it what you will, whether it’s a beloved human, pet or thing and even health, it’s bound to get there. We all do. The sad part about the whole thing is not the grief from loss, but grief over taking things for granted when we had them, only then do people realize that time is cruel. Maybe people ought to strive for…

— “ who did this to you? ”
; genshin men as your enemy (with benefits)
pretends not to care (he massacred them all) — kaeya, albedo, childe, zhongli, ALHAITHAM, scaramouche
He immediately tries to keep an aloof facade the moment he let out those words. It wasn't that he actually cared? Like come on, you're the most annoying person in the world. But when you finally tell him those annoying bastards names in quick succession they were hunted and destoryed.
There was something so annoying about your face getting hurt he just couldn't pin point why. Maybe it made you more annoying? Yeah, probably that. He doesn't care at all. But he will never have the guts to tell you what actually happened to the ones that hurt you.
cares more about your well being — diluc, KAVEH, kazuha, XIAO, tighnari, freminet, ayato, heizou, lyney
His usual sour expression became that more of concerned but angry all the same. He checked for wounds, brought you to the medic. The guy was acting pretty strange.. too strange. Maybe it was a prank? That's what he thought too, why... why was he helping you this way?
When you told him the people who did this, he was never one to forgive them. But none of that mattered when you looked in pain. Wait? Wasn't this his enemy. He shouldn't think like this. But... fine just this once. Both of you are sure this will be the one time he cares for you. How foolish.
ready to put people on their graves— wriothesly, dainsleif neuvillette, PIERRO, childe, scaramouche, xiao, CYNO
It was to the point he was even screaming for you to give out their names. And as soon as you do, he marches out of the hospital and kidnaps them one by one. No one will escape. No. One. At this point, he didn't even think that both of you were enemies or that this isn't how he was supposed to feel. He didn't care.
And as he cleaned his blade at the end of the fight, this time he showed no mercy. Maybe in your point of view he hated you, and at some point he also thought he did. But now, staring at what he'd done, hate isn't that far from love. And love isn't that far from revenge.
just glad you were okay — freminet, bennett, ITTO, gorou, thoma, tighnari, KAZUHA, chongyun, diluc, baizhu
Who in the world can possibly harm you like this? How dare they? Why would they? But it doesn't matter what the name is. With an first-aid kit in hand he cleans up your wounds and wipes your tears. This was the same man you keep arguing with. The same you hated above all else.
You've never seem him gentle, but now you did. Cherishing this, you know you'll use this whenever both of you fight. But... no that would be too cruel. He looked so pretty doing it, like an angel rather than demon that was him everyday. So you just kept it in your heart, a memory forever lasting.

The warmth of the sunlight and the gentle sound of waves from outside made everything feel peaceful and calm—your perfect little haven. You were curled up on the couch with your son, Rustyn, nestled comfortably in your lap, his small head resting against your chest. He was two, but sometimes you marveled at how much older he seemed, with his sharp curiosity and his endless questions.
Rustyn’s favorite book was in your hands as you read to him, your voice soft and soothing as you flipped through the colorful pages. Every few moments, Rustyn would point to a picture and ask you about it. His little hands would grab at the air in excitement as he processed each new detail.
“Mommy, why is that bunny wearing a hat?” Rustyn asked, his bright blue eyes full of curiosity.
You chuckled softly, brushing a hand through his soft curls. “Maybe he’s going on an adventure, sweetie. What do you think?”
Rustyn considered this seriously, his face scrunching up in concentration. “Yeah, maybe. I like adventures.”
“I know you do,” you said with a smile, kissing the top of his head. “You’ll have lots of them when you get bigger.”
Rustyn nodded, clearly satisfied with your answer, and snuggled closer to you. He let out a small sigh, content in the warmth of your embrace. You couldn’t help but smile, your heart swelling with love as you continued to read. These were the moments you cherished—the quiet, everyday moments that made your little family feel complete.
As you were nearing the end of the story, you noticed Drew standing in the kitchen, leaning casually against the counter. He was watching the two of you with that familiar look of affection in his eyes, the one that always made you feel so loved. But today, there was something else—a mischievous twinkle that you hadn’t quite noticed before.
Drew took a sip of water, then set the glass down with a small, playful smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. You raised an eyebrow at him, wondering what he was up to. He didn’t say anything, just casually strolled into the living room and leaned down to scoop Rustyn up from your lap.
“Come here, little man,” Drew said, his voice warm as he lifted Rustyn into his arms.
Rustyn squealed in delight, wrapping his tiny arms around Drew’s neck and giggling as Drew spun him around in a playful circle. “Dada!” Rustyn cried out, his laughter echoing through the room.
“Having fun with Mommy?” Drew asked, settling Rustyn on his hip, still grinning as he glanced at you.
“Yeah! Mommy was reading to me,” Rustyn said proudly, his voice full of excitement.
But as Rustyn snuggled against Drew, his sharp little eyes caught something unusual. He tilted his head, his gaze narrowing in confusion as he stared at Drew’s left hand. You hadn’t noticed it before, but now, following Rustyn’s gaze, you realized that Drew’s wedding ring was missing.
Rustyn furrowed his tiny brow, clearly puzzled. His voice, though small and innocent, was filled with a sense of concern. “Dada...where’s your ring?”
You blinked, surprised by how quickly Rustyn had noticed. You hadn’t even realized it yourself, but there it was—Drew’s left hand, conspicuously bare. You glanced at Drew, raising an eyebrow as you waited for him to respond.
Drew, ever the playful one, kept his cool. He smiled down at Rustyn, shrugging his shoulders nonchalantly. “Oh, that? Dada just didn’t feel like wearing it today, buddy.”
Your mouth dropped open slightly as you watched Drew, a mixture of amusement and curiosity bubbling up inside you. What was he up to? He knew how much that ring meant to both of you, and though it wasn’t a serious situation, you couldn’t help but wonder how this was going to play out.
Rustyn, however, wasn’t so easily fooled. His little face scrunched up again, and he looked from Drew’s hand to your face, his innocent expression filled with concern. He tugged lightly on Drew’s shirt, trying to make sense of what he was hearing.
“Dada,” Rustyn said in his most serious tone, his voice soft but full of wisdom beyond his years, “you know you gonna make Mommy sad.”
The room fell into silence, the weight of Rustyn’s innocent words settling between the three of you. You felt your heart swell as you looked at your son, his little face so earnest and full of love for both of you. His concern for your feelings, even at such a young age, was enough to make your heart melt.
Drew’s grin faltered slightly as he looked at Rustyn, clearly taken aback by his son’s sharp observation. The teasing light in his eyes softened, and he let out a small chuckle, shaking his head in disbelief. “Oh really?” he asked, his voice filled with affection as he looked back down at Rustyn. “You think Mommy will be sad if I don’t wear my ring?”
Rustyn nodded, his tiny hand reaching out to touch Drew’s bare finger. “Yeah, ‘cause it means you love her.”
You felt a lump form in your throat at Rustyn’s sweet words, and you had to blink back the sudden tears that pricked at your eyes. How did this little boy know so much? How could someone so young be so in tune with your feelings? It was moments like these that reminded you just how special Rustyn was.
Drew’s eyes softened even further as he looked at you, and the playful smirk faded into something much more tender. He reached into his pocket, pulling out his wedding ring with a slow, deliberate motion. He slid it back onto his finger, never breaking eye contact with you.
“Well, we can’t have Mommy being sad, can we, buddy?” Drew said softly, his voice warm as he turned his attention back to Rustyn. “Is that better?”
Rustyn’s face lit up with a smile so wide it made your heart flutter. “Yeah, Dada! Now you make Mommy happy again!”
Drew chuckled, glancing at you with a loving smile. “What do you think? Is our little man right? Does the ring make you happy?”
You smiled back at him, your heart full as you nodded. “He’s always right,” you said softly, reaching out to gently squeeze Drew’s hand. “You know how much that ring means to me.”
Drew leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to your forehead, his hand still entwined with yours. “I know, baby,” he whispered, his voice low and full of affection.
Rustyn, clearly pleased with the resolution of the situation, snuggled into Drew’s chest, his tiny arms wrapping around his dad’s neck. “Dada loves Mommy,” he said with absolute certainty, as if there had never been any doubt.
Drew smiled, looking down at Rustyn with nothing but love in his eyes. “You’re right, Rusty. I love Mommy very much.”
Rustyn nodded solemnly, as if he had solved a great mystery. “I knew it,” he said with a proud grin.
You couldn’t help but laugh softly, your heart swelling with love for both Drew and Rustyn. You reached out, wrapping your arms around both of them, pulling them into a warm hug. “I love you both so much,” you whispered, pressing a kiss to Rustyn’s cheek before turning to Drew and kissing him softly on the lips.
Drew smiled against your lips, his hand resting on the small of your back as he held you close. “We love you too,” he murmured, his voice full of warmth and tenderness.
As the three of you sat there, wrapped up in each other’s love, the world outside seemed to fade away. It was just the three of you—your perfect little family, full of love, laughter, and moments like these that made everything else seem small in comparison.
Rustyn, ever the observant toddler, let out a small yawn, his little body relaxing as the excitement of the day began to catch up with him. He nestled deeper into Drew’s arms, his eyes fluttering closed as he snuggled into the warmth of his dad’s chest.
As you watched Drew tuck your son into bed, your heart swelled with love once more. It was moments like these—simple, sweet moments—that made you realize just how lucky you were to have this little family.
As Drew gently closed Rustyn’s bedroom door, he turned to you with a soft smile, his hand reaching for yours. “You know I was just teasing with the ring, right?” he asked quietly, pulling you into his arms as he led you back toward the living room. His voice was low and full of sincerity now, the earlier playfulness gone, replaced by a quiet tenderness.
You smiled up at him, resting your hand against his chest as you felt the steady rhythm of his heartbeat under your palm. “I know,” you replied softly, your eyes meeting his. “But Rustyn was right. It does mean a lot to me, even if it’s just a ring.”
Drew’s expression softened even further, and he lifted your hand to his lips, pressing a gentle kiss to the back of it. “I know, baby. I’ll never take it off again, I promise,” he said, his tone serious but still filled with that warmth you loved so much. “At least not without a really good reason.”
You laughed softly, leaning into him as his arms wrapped around you, pulling you close. “You better not,” you teased, your voice playful but laced with affection.
Drew smiled down at you, his forehead resting against yours as he held you in the quiet comfort of the moment. “I know I joke around sometimes,” he began, his voice barely above a whisper. “But I don’t ever want you to doubt how much I love you. This ring—it’s a promise, not just for show.”
Your heart swelled at his words, and you nodded, your hand still resting against his chest as you leaned into him. “I never doubt it,” you whispered back. “Not for a second.”
The two of you stood there for a few more moments, wrapped up in each other’s warmth. The house was quiet now, save for the soft sound of Rustyn’s rhythmic breathing coming from his bedroom, and the golden light of the setting sun cast a warm glow through the windows, making everything feel peaceful and serene.
Drew’s arms tightened around you slightly, and he let out a contented sigh, his lips brushing against your temple as he held you. “Rustyn’s growing up so fast,” he murmured, his voice filled with a mixture of pride and awe. “I still can’t believe how smart he is—how much he picks up on.”
You smiled softly, pulling back just enough to look up at him. “I know,” you agreed, your voice filled with love for your little boy. “He’s always surprising me with how much he understands. I wasn’t expecting him to notice your ring like that.”
Drew chuckled, shaking his head slightly. “Neither was I. I thought I’d get away with the prank at least until bedtime.” His smile softened, and he glanced down at his hand, where the ring now sat securely. “But you know what? I’m glad he noticed.”
You tilted your head, curious. “Why’s that?”
Drew’s eyes met yours again, his gaze full of love and affection. “Because it reminded me how much this little ring means. Not just to you, but to him too. He understands that it’s important—he gets that it’s a symbol of how much we love each other. And that… well, that makes me even prouder to wear it.”
Your heart melted at his words, and you reached up to cup his face, your thumb gently brushing along his jawline. “You’re a good man, Drew Starkey,” you whispered, your voice thick with emotion.
Drew smiled, his eyes soft and full of love. “And you’re the love of my life,” he replied, his voice just as tender.
He leaned down then, capturing your lips in a slow, sweet kiss that made your heart flutter in your chest. His hands rested gently on your waist as he pulled you even closer, and you could feel the steady beat of his heart against yours, a perfect rhythm that matched the quiet contentment of the moment.
When you finally pulled away, Drew rested his forehead against yours once more, his breath warm against your skin. “Thank you,” he whispered, his voice so quiet it was almost lost in the stillness of the room.
“For what?” you asked softly, your fingers gently threading through his hair.
“For this. For our life. For Rustyn. For everything.” He pulled back just enough to look into your eyes, his expression filled with so much love that it made your heart ache. “I wouldn’t trade a single moment for anything.”
You smiled, feeling the same rush of love and gratitude that you felt every time you looked at him. “Neither would I,” you whispered back.
The two of you stood there everything felt perfect—your little family, your life together, the quiet joy that filled your days. It wasn’t always grand gestures or big moments that made life special. Sometimes, it was the small, simple things—like the way Drew looked at you when he wore his ring, or the way Rustyn’s innocent questions could change the course of a day—that reminded you just how lucky you were.

Quiet Affections
Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin x Pilot!reader
Tumblr media
Summary: After her friends tease her about Jake having a crush on her, Y/N reflects on certain memories that make her question whether there might be some truth to their playful jabs.
Warnings: Teasing, pining, Jake being a sweetheart, Y/N being oblivious, insults aimed at Y/N, protective Jake, mention and description of injury, anxiety, doubts, fluff.
Notes: Happy Friday, everyone! We made it! 🎉 I just hit 2,500 likes on here and wanted to thank each and every one of you who liked, reblogged, or commented on my works. It means the world to me. I’m down bad for Jake, and need him badly so I wrote this. Enjoy byeeee
You find yourself deep in the heart of the Hard Deck, the familiar hum of chatter and clinking glasses forming a comforting backdrop. Rooster, Natasha, Javy, Bob, Reuben, and Mickey are clustered around the pool table, laughter spilling freely as they take turns making shots and throwing jabs. Jake had just excused himself to go to the restroom, but not before brushing a lingering hand against your shoulder and whispering something that made you smile. This action set off a chain reaction of teasing directed at you.
"Y/N, you know Hangman’s got a huge crush on you, right?" Rooster's mustache twitches with a sly smile as he lines up for his shot.
You laugh it off, waving a hand dismissively. "Oh please, Bradley. Jake? No way. He's just... nice."
Rooster and Natasha exchange glances before Natasha cocks an eyebrow at you. "Nice? Hangman is many things, but nice isn't the first word I'd use. Unless he’s talking to you," she remarks, tapping her cue stick against her palm.
Bob, always the quiet observer, chimes in. "He's got a point though, Y/N. I've seen how he looks at you."
You can't help but roll your eyes. "I'm just completely unaware of it," you say, sarcasm dripping from your voice. "You guys are ridiculous."
Mickey grins, his boyish charm lighting up his face. "Maybe, but can you really deny the way he's always got your back?" he asks, leaning casually against the pool table.
Your first instinct is to rebut, but as their words settle in, you start to think about some of the things Jake had done for you. Not just the grand gestures like saving your hide in aerial combat, but the small, everyday things. The way he'd always save you a seat, bring you coffee exactly how you like it, offer subtle words of encouragement when you doubted yourself.
Javy steps forward, his competitive spirit twinkling in his eyes. "You're telling me you haven't noticed how he always goes out of his way to make sure you're okay?"
Reuben, good-natured but always vigilant, nods in agreement. "Hangman's not exactly an altruistic guy, Y/N. But for you? He'd go to lengths he wouldn't for anyone else."
You crack a wry smile, determined to stay firm in your denial. "He's just protective. We're teammates."
Natasha had already joined in, her voice warm yet teasing. “Don’t sell yourself short, Y/N. It’s not just about being teammates. He genuinely cares.”
In the ensuing silence, you can't help but ponder on their words. Jake "Hangman" Seresin is charismatic and assertive, traits forged from his exceptional flying skills and competitive nature. But beneath that cocky exterior, there lies a heart incredibly loving and caring, willing to sacrifice anything for his loved ones. Slowly, you find yourself drifting into a vivid memory, reliving the countless cherished moments and experiences you've shared with Jake.
Tumblr media
You recall that evening at the Hard Deck vividly. The bar was buzzing with the usual chatter and laughter, the hum of camaraderie filling the air. You were amidst your friends, enjoying the rare downtime when an unfamiliar voice cut through the noise—this stranger making an offhand but cruel remark about you. The comment was subtle, yet it stung deeply, rooting you in place with a mix of shock and mortification. Your cheeks burned under the weight of the ridicule, words lodged in your throat.
Before you could muster a response, you felt Jake's presence beside you, solid and reassuring. He stepped forward, placing himself between you and the offender. His usual easy going demeanor was replaced by a steely resolve, his eyes dark with anger. "Do us all a favor and think before you speak," he said, his voice steady but carrying an unmistakable edge.
The bar fell into an uneasy silence as Jake’s glare pinned the offender in place. "If you've got a problem with Y/N," he continued, his voice low and unwavering, "you’ll be dealing with me."
The tension hung in the air, thick and palpable. The offender, unable to match Jake's intensity, muttered an apology and slunk away, deflated. The moment passed, but the impact lingered. Jake remained there a moment longer, ensuring the threat had fully dissipated before turning back to you.
As he met your gaze, the hardness in his features softened, replaced by a gentle concern. He reached out, placing a comforting hand on your shoulder. "You okay?" he asked, his voice filled with a tenderness reserved just for you.
You felt an overwhelming wave of gratitude, the initial embarrassment giving way to a profound sense of relief. Jake had stood up for you without a second thought, his protective instinct leaving no room for compromise. In that moment, you knew you were safe, not just physically but emotionally, knowing Jake had your back. His touch and the concern in his eyes reassured you even more, providing a solace that words alone could not.

Then there was the night when you couldn’t sleep, tormented by insecurities that gnawed at the edges of your mind. It was long past midnight, and you found yourself seated on the deck of the aircraft carrier, trying to get some fresh air to clear your head before the mission. The vast expanse of the ocean and the cool night breeze did little to quiet the whirlwind of self-doubt swirling inside you.
The stars dotted the sky like tiny beacons, and the waves below gently lapped against the ship's hull, but none of it brought you peace. You wrapped your arms around yourself, tense and lost in thought, barely noticing the sound of footsteps approaching.
Jake emerged from the shadows, his silhouette becoming clearer in the soft glow of the ship's lights. He paused when he saw you, his brow furrowing with concern. He looked around, ensuring no one else was around, before walking over to you with determined but careful strides.
"Y/N, what's wrong?" he asked, his voice breaking the solitude with an edge of worry.
You hesitated, feeling foolish for bothering him. "I…I just can't stop thinking about everything that's been going wrong. I don't know if I'm cut out for this, Jake."
Jake's eyes softened, and he lowered himself to sit beside you on the cold metal deck. "Tell me more," he said gently, coaxing you to open up. His voice was so steady, so soothing, that you found yourself pouring out all your fears and anxieties—the relentless pressure, the fear of failure, the nagging feeling that you weren't good enough. With each word, you felt a weight lifting from your chest.
Jake listened without interrupting, his usual cocky demeanor replaced by an unwavering focus on you. His eyes never left your face, and his expression remained kind and attentive. "You know what I see when I look at you?" he said quietly once you had finished. "I see someone who's brave, who fights every day to be better, who cares deeply about others. You're stronger than you think, Y/N. Don't let those doubts control you."
His words felt like a balm to your soul, soothing the raw edges of your insecurities. When he reached out to brush a stray tear from your cheek, the warmth of his touch and the sincerity in his eyes melted away your remaining doubts, leaving you wrapped in a cocoon of reassurance. Sitting there on the deck, under the endless sky, you felt profoundly grateful for Jake's unwavering support and the strength he helped you find within yourself.
.   ݁ ˖ ࣪ . ⋆ * .♡ *:・゚.   ݁ ˖ ࣪ . ⋆ * .♡ *:・゚.   ݁ ˖ ࣪ .
You also remember the time when you injured your ankle during a training exercise. You had insisted on limping back to your quarters, trying to maintain your independence. But Jake wouldn't hear of it. He had scooped you up without a second thought, cradling you in his arms as if you weighed nothing. "I've got you," he murmured, his voice laced with an uncharacteristic gentleness. The entire trek back, he kept you engaged in light-hearted banter, ensuring your mind stayed off the pain.
.   ݁ ˖ ࣪ . ⋆ * .♡ *:・゚.   ݁ ˖ ࣪ . ⋆ * .♡ *:・゚.   ݁ ˖ ࣪ .
And how could you forget the morning he had brought you coffee? Not just any coffee, but a complex, personalized concoction—an oat milk latte with a shot of caramel, a pinch of cinnamon, and a dash of nutmeg, and no foam. You hadn’t even mentioned it to him before. "Thought you could use a pick-me-up," he had said nonchalantly, as if it were the most natural thing in the world. But you knew the effort he had put into remembering such a detailed order, and it made your heart swell with an unfamiliar warmth.
These memories play in your mind like a cherished montage, each moment a testament to the man beneath the bravado. Jake "Hangman" Seresin wasn’t just the cocky pilot everyone else saw. He was a protector, a confidant, a friend who cared deeply for you, even if you had been too blind to see it before.
Tumblr media
Returning back to the present moment amidst the lively ambiance of the Hard Deck, surrounded by the warmth of friends and laughter, you notice Jake returning from the restroom. As your eyes meet, his familiar smirk emerges, but this time there’s a tender softness in his gaze that you hadn’t noticed before—or perhaps, hadn't allowed yourself to see.
“Miss me?” he jokes, sliding back into the chaos of pool cues and friendly banter.
You chuckle, shaking off the speculative thoughts. “Like a bad habit, Seresin.”
But later, as the night winds down and the camaraderie ebbs into a quieter hum, you catch yourself glancing his way more often. The teasing remarks of your friends aren’t so easily dismissed anymore. And as Jake catches your gaze across the room, you start to wonder if maybe, just maybe, they might be onto something.
Because sometimes, the most significant realizations are the ones that had been right in front of you all along, masked by the comfort of friendship and the chaos of duty.
You smile to yourself, feeling an inexplicable warmth. Maybe it was time to see what was beyond the camaraderie, to delve into the possibilities of what if. The thought lingers, like an unopened letter, waiting for the right moment.
For now, you return to the laughter and games, but with a new awareness, a curiosity that couldn’t be easily shaken. One thing was for sure—things were going to get interesting.

suna rintarou x reader drabble
Tumblr media Tumblr media
suna has never been this lucky.
what deity has blessed him to have this opportunity? the life he has with you right now, are what he's cherishing. seriously, what did he do to deserve you?
he gets to see that pretty smile of yours everyday, hears your voice that he swears makes him melts, and enjoying every domestic moment together with you, even when one time you accidentally burn a hole in his shirt because the iron was too hot—then later that day he went and bought a steam iron instead.
he smiles when you whine to him how your skincare is running out, and the next day you are shocked to see a whole new set of it on your vanity. you showed him the buldak ramen recipe on your reels, and then when you're unloading the groceries suna had brought home, surprised to see the stuff thats not on your list as you hold two big packet of carbonara ramen in your hand. you told him that you wanted to try the ribbon croissant that's been trending in the city, so he got them for you to try despite having to wait a long queue for it.
its what the least he could do for you. he loves to see you happy. he loves to take cares of you because it makes you happy. and happiness makes you prettier than ever. no wonder you have gotten so prettier everytime he lands his eyes on you, because his love for you is what has been shaping who you are today.

Tumblr media
You and Rin had been friends for five years, and dating for five as well, right after the blue lock programs U-20 match in a moment of weakness the two of you had messily talked over your friendship which consisted of him refusing to let himself apologize for the things he'd said to you when things had changed, when his dream had been crushed, and you were trying to console him and also admitting to your own faults of not trying to understand what was wrong, letting him go so easily.
Now it's not all sunshine and rainbows, there were so many times when you'd just considered leaving him because of something petty that had stemmed into a full-blown fight, but no matter what you always got through it. Rin was an enigma one that you were desperate to understand fully, sometimes you wished to just take a small peak into his brain and understand why he says or does certain things.
He was quiet but also so loud, small glances said so much, but you just couldn't understand, he read your mere expressions like a book while you're still struggling to determine what his blunt words mean because he's just so evasive. Most topics you could chalk up to the issue's he'd developed over years of resentment towards his own brother and lack of social interaction, but one thing you just couldn't a read on-
Before you could finish that thought you were roused from the peaceful half-nap you'd been taking, glossy eyes had been closed looking out the window of the bus you and Rin had taken to get home from his game instead of your car since it was currently under maintenance, it was a whole lot of bad luck and lack of options that lead you here.
"Wake up" He mumbled with a small look of embarrassment that was skilfully hidden behind an annoyed face as he lifted his head from your shoulder trying to not look at the small wet spot on your sweater sleeve.
"Hngh- I'm awake just got distracted" You could hear the small rasp in your voice from the lack of use, now looking at him trying not laugh remember how he'd had to dress to not be recognized.
He did not look his best in this 'disguise' that's for sure. A grey beanie covering his hair completely giving the impression he was bald along with a pair of shaded glasses to hide those mesmerizing eyes you loved so much. And your personal favourite, the tourist gift shop sweater he used to cover his clothes that read 'Proud Soccer Mom' in bold baby blue letters.
When the bus came to an abrupt halt, he stood up waiting for you to follow, no matter if you couldn't see his eyes behind the shades he was wearing, his gaze always seemed to follow every movement you made, as if he thought you'd disappear if he took his gaze off you.
Your body was still a little stiff and filled with a few aches while you slid off the grey faux leather seat with a hushed noise of discomfort. Your gaze trained on your boyfriends feet, following his footsteps while also making sure not to trip on anything on your way to the front of the bus.
The soft breeze against your face when the bus started off again had sobered you up from the sleep trying to drag you back into its warm embrace. You shuffled your hands into the pockets of the grey sweater you'd cherished ever since Rin got you the thing two years ago. He said it was bland and a stupid ask for your birthday, but the fabric was just so nice, and it was good to have casual everyday clothes that just meant you got to enjoy his gift more often.
He'd slung a hand around your shoulder, pulling you close. It was an affectionate gesture at surface level, but you also knew how tired he'd get after his games. Even if he won't admit it, you're pretty sure he's using you as a living crutch.
“I don't believe you weren't sleeping”
“Huh- why…?”
“Because you kept me awake with your snoring.” His tone was undeniably dry and flat, but you could tell he was only teasing.
“Oh my apologies sleeping beauty, did you not get your princess rest because of me?”
He didn't respond with his words, just huffing, and you could almost feel the roll of his eyes as he strung you along to your shared apartment. It was a simple little place, but you liked it, although it made you feel like a beige mom. It was worse with the lack of colour in your interior design, greys, and whites with a few accents of black painting your furniture and decor.
Rin closed the door behind the two of you before slipping off his shoes, watching you do the same. You couldn't help yourself from flopping onto the couch with a groan, stretching out your limbs with a few snaps and cracks. You didn't bother even speak or look to Rin; he had his routines and after games he had to shower soon as possible, or he might actually explode. He was extremely hygienic, which was oddly attractive because the bar for men is so unbelievable low.
Just as you expected, the water from the shower had started up and Rin was gone, which was the perfect opportunity for a nap. Relaxing so you'll have the emotional energy to deal with his sulking ass because his goals got blocked twice and god forbid he has a slight failure. Even if he did win in the end, Rin always had this habit of beating himself up after the game about what he could've done better. You have to convince him it's not because he's falling behind and didn't try hard enough. Football was his life, but so were you.
You hadn't even realized the drifting feeling consuming you when sleep had trapped you in its maw. The steady sound from the shower water lulling your eyes closed, the soft fabric of your sweater still clinging to your skin, even if it was unneeded.
When your vision finally came to it hadn't been too long, it was still light out and there was this pressure on your back, something dripping onto your face—what the hell?
You craned your neck to the side painfully to meet Rin's critical teal eyes as he rested half on top of your back and by your side against the couches back. His damp hair dripping on your neck as his eyes flickered back to the TV, which you now realized was on. You followed his gaze, to the horror movie you recognized as 'In The Tall Grass' it wasn't his favourite but you both liked it.
“You're getting me wet, Itoshi…?”
“Rin…”
“Ugh—habits sorry princess, you're getting me wet Rin” You mused playfully, it was a habit and old one at that. For your five years of friendship, he didn't let you call him by his first name until you started dating, so it was just what you remembered him as. But you also know how much it means to him, so you've tried to correct yourself.
“So what?”
“So dry your hair off, and then you can cuddle me”
“No.”
“Oh and why is that Rinnie, the pretty princess, too comfortable to get up, so instead you'll just use me as your rag?”
When you tried to get up, he grabbed onto you, large hands pulling your back into his chest, hanging onto your body like a koala. He clung onto you tighter when you squirmed now, making you painfully aware of the position he had you in. His arms tight around your waist with his face buried in the back of your neck and a long leg in between his own pushed up against your crotch. He was seemingly oblivious to how much this suddenly affected you.
“It's going to be my twenty-first birthday in a few weeks, what are you going to get me…?”
“Rin I'm not… m'not going to just tell you”
“Oh why not?” He inquired while shifting in a way that made something burn in the pit of your stomach.
“Because that ruins the surprise”
“I don't like surprises”
“Yeah well you—agh… Rin stop moving my god…” You could feel him pause at your words and after a few moments you also feel his breath hitching on the back of your neck, it seems he finally realized what he'd been doing.
It was frustrating being with Rin Itoshi, he was so difficult at times, and he could be a bit immature too, but he loved you, he cared about you and that's all that really mattered right? It isn't like he's been avoiding the topic or even idea of sex for the past five years. it's not like this is one of the few things he refuses to acknowledge. It's not like you've been secretly pent-up for those years unable to properly have a sex life, but honestly—It's not like you want to force him into something he doesn't want. You love him, and this isn't something he's comfortable with clearly, so you won't push it.
“Hey… can we talk about something…” Rin's voice had caught your attention easily, along with him releasing your waist and removing his leg so you could turn to face him.
“Always” You kept your response small and short while your eyes remained on his, curiosity flicking over them.
“I know we haven't… y'know” He mumbled, his usual hard gaze flickered away to look at the ceiling. Instead of you, a small dust of the softest pink you'll ever see covering his cheeks while a deeper colour bit the tips of his ears, but you just nodded waiting for him to continue.
“I… I love you and I'm sorry—”
“Don apologize Ito- Rin… you didn't do anything wrong” You cut him off with a firm tone leaving no room for argument
“Yeah whatever, I just…” He swallowed hard, his Adams apple bobbing as he did so “I want to have that kind of connection with you but… I don't know how or… or where to uhm even start?”
You listened intently, you'd rarely see him in this state. It was odd, but you didn't mind, his usual flat tone or short responses now overshadowed by nervousness and rambling. He was tense and still refused to meet your stare as he waited for you to say something.
“You can't learn without practice if you want we can take things slow… I can show you” You'd hand-picked those words from the one time he'd tried to get you to play football with him, which earned you a glare.
“Sorry I wanted to lighten the mood, but really if you want to try we can.”
“I do.”
“You may kiss the bride” You chimed in playfully, which earned an eye roll along with another glare before he suddenly pulled you in for a kiss.
You guys had kissed before, it was a common occurrence actually, but you never went past heated make out sessions, but this was different. The kiss didn't feel like it was just filled with usual affection but desperation, need, fear.
There was a soft nip at your bottom lip, and you opened your mouth knowing what he wanted, you allowed him to run his tongue along your lips before pushing past and exploring your mouth. It was not long before he pulled away panting with lidded eyes while you were a bit more composed.
“So what next?” He asked, a small teasing grin tugging at the corners of his mouth, but he kept it down.
“You're being serious, you want to do this right here—now?”
“Yes.”
“Rin…” You shifted on your side a bit closer to him, you were both facing each other, the tension between you thick and hot, “You need to take things slow, don't rush or else it won't feel good”.
You skated your fingers up and down his bare chest feeling over the soft pale skin of his sides, the pads of your fingers found the hemline of his grey sweatpants eyeing over the bulge in the fabric. It didn't take long before you had one hand ghosting over the area teasingly, which had caused Rin to grace your ears with a pitiful breathy whimper. It was stifled by his hand, but you were close enough to hear it.
“You wanna pull them down f'me, princess?”
He did not answer, just hastily shifting his hips up off the couch, shoving fabric down to his thighs. You realized he had not even bothered with boxers now that his hardened member was on full display now pressing against his abdomen. He was an average size, more long than thick, with a soft pink tip that almost reached his belly button.
“Rin, I want you to touch yourself…? Okay, get yourself ready before we do anything—I want you to be comfortable”
By now, Rin's entire face is flushed in a soft splash of colour. As he brings the same hand used to pull down his pants to grasp his throbbing cock, he slid his fingers up and down hesitantly, almost as if he was unsure of what to do.
“Is this… this good?” He muttered out from behind his hand that'd been actively hushing any soft noises he was making.
“Yeah you're doing so good baby, how do you feel?”
"m'fine-”
You could only shake your head as his hand sped up desperately, and his hand stuttered a few times as well, which caused a grin to tug at your lips. Although it was not one of mockery, you just liked seeing how worked up he was getting over simple touches.
“Okay enough baby, do you wanna go further?”
“Fuck, I can't wait anymore—just do it” He pulled his hand away from his painfully erect cock as he shifted onto his back while you had gotten on top of him.
You'd slipped your own pants down along with a pair of boxers you'd actually stolen from Rin, you were wet for him already after being pent-up for so long and barely touching yourself over the years.
You took his hand pulling it closer to your slit “I want you to touch me” his eyes flicked up to look at you in surprise, but he complied anyway.
You had tried your absolute hardest not to laugh, you knew it was his first time, but he was making that cute little face he does when he's focused on something small and just can't figure it out. The tip of his tongue poking out from the side of his mouth, eyes trained on your pussy while his fingers tried to get you off, but he's not the best with his hands.
“Baby no, like this” You circled your clit gently with your thumb while fingers caressed your tight hole before pulling away to let him try.
You could see the frustration in his expression, and it was only getting worse as time went on, of him struggling to get you off. You'd expected this, but what you didn't was when he pulled his hand away instead of asking for help again. He grabbed your waist firmly, tugging you up his chest with a strong pull, your cunt hovering over his mouth now.
“Rin what are you-”
He cut you off with a small annoyed snap, “I can't do it with my fingers…”
“Okay an-” Your sassy reply was cut off again, but this time with a moan as he pulled out down onto his face.
At first, he was a bit clumsy, but he started finding what spots exactly ripped noises out of you, he closed his eyes practically making out with your pussy, his nose brushing against your clit over and over again. Rin seemed almost hyperfocused like he did in games after struggling to get a goal. It was not long before an orgasm had been forced out of you, causing a sharp moan to get dragged out of your throat when he continued to lap at your juices. You braced your hands against the arm of the sofa weakly.
It was another minute of jerking from overstimulation before he finally pulled away, sliding you back down to straddle his waist with a guilty expression caused you'd had to tell him that it was enough.
“Did I do it wrong…?”
“Where did you learn to eat pussy like that, Rin—you did great”
“Can we… uhm”
“You want to fuck me now? Don't worry baby, I can last long enough for you to finish”.
Ho nodded, his face morphing into one of desperation again and almost if he was preparing to be hit when you lined him up with your slick entrance. As you slid down his length slowly he threw his head back with a groan not bothering to cover his mouth with a hand this time, he bucked his hips upwards on instinct pushing a whimper past his lips.
You weren't any better, sure he was slim, but you didn't know if you could take all of him with how long he was. You pressed your hands against his chest to brace yourself, almost tumbling onto him when he forced more of his length inside your gummy walls. It took a littler longer before your pussy lips made contact with his base now setting to adjust whispering soft praise for Rin even if he wasn't listening.
Eventually you started rolling your hips and moving in slow motions to ride his cock which only made more lewd noises come from him, he was twitching in pleasure, hands gripping the sofa to restrain himself. No matter how hard he tried though, his hands found their way up to your waist resting on the soft flesh, nails digging into your skin.
He's used his strength to set a more needy pace to get himself off, he was moaning and whimpering freely now without a care in the world, using you like a personal flesh light and chasing his own high. You'd been so confident going into this and even now you're still somewhat in control here, but no matter what you said about being able to last, your boyfriend's noises were getting you off in ways you couldn't imagine. He almost sounded like he was in pain from how pathetic he'd gotten along with tears clumping on those long eyelashes of his, and that brutal pace he'd set was getting you way too close, way too quick.
You were still trying to calm yourself and recover from your last orgasm when the familiar sparks of climax brushed against you again, another orgasm wracking your body, leaving you a train wreck. Fluids gushing out of you and dripping down his length as your walls clenched down hard with a small cry.
His hips stuttered as you lent down to capture his mouth, quickly devouring his moans along with muting your own when he started spilling into you, hot seed spurting into you, painting the gooey walls of your cunt white. He broke the kiss with a small gasp, feeling you collapse onto his chest, mumbling small 'I love you's' and 'I'm proud of you's' into his ear.
“I love you too…” He panted out in a breathy tone.
“I love you more princess”

orange cat - OP81
Tumblr media
Pairing: Oscar Piastri x reader
Summary: What happens your neighbour's adorable orange cat starts to pay you daily visits?
Word count: 1k
London welcomed me with its perpetually gray skies and damp weather, a stark contrast to the sunny shores of California I had left behind. As I settled into my new apartment, I couldn't help but feel a pang of homesickness for the warmth of home.
For the first few weeks, I hardly saw my neighbours, lost in the shuffle of unpacking and adjusting to my new surroundings. But one persistent visitor soon made himself known – a vibrant orange cat that would perch itself on my windowsill, peering into my living room with curious eyes.
At first, I found it amusing, but as the days went by and the cat became a regular fixture, I grew concerned. Surely, someone must be missing their furry friend. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands.
I scribbled a quick note on a yellow post-it, explaining the situation and tucking it under my neighbor's door. "Your cat seems to be visiting me often," I wrote. "Just wanted to let you know in case you're worried."
Days passed, and I received no response. I wondered if my neighbor had even seen the note or if they simply didn't care about their wandering pet.
But then, one evening, there was a soft knock on my door.
Opening the door, I found myself face to face with a handsome young man, his expression sheepish yet friendly. He held a small box in his hands, the smell of freshly baked pastries wafting from within.
"Hey, sorry to bother you," he began, his accent unmistakably Australian. "I'm Oscar, your neighbor from next door. I just wanted to apologize for my cat bothering you. And, well, to say thank you for looking out for him."
I couldn't help but smile at his genuine demeanor. "No problem at all, your cat is lovely, I was simply worried you might wonder where he was" I replied, accepting the box of pastries. "I'm glad to finally meet you, Oscar" I replied, introducing myself as well.
"Do you maybe wanna come in? I can make us some tea or coffee and we could eat the pastries you brought?" I added.
"I would love that!" replied Oscar with a warm smile.
From that moment on, Oscar and I struck up an unexpected friendship. We bonded over our shared love for his cat and baked goods, finding comfort in each other in the big city of London, so far from our respective homes. Oscar told me all about his work as a Formula One driver, and I could not help but be in awe of how passionate he was. I, on the other end, told him about the teaching opportunity that got me to move here, and I would often tell him cute stories from my classroom.
As weeks turned into months, our friendship deepened. Oscar proved to be not only a generous neighbor but also a reliable friend. Whether it was helping me fix a leaky faucet or lending a hand with heavy groceries, he was always there when I needed him.
Our weekly movie nights, whenever Oscar wasn't out of the country, became a cherished tradition, a welcome break from our everyday lives. We'd take turns picking films, debating over classics and hidden gems late into the night.
But amidst the laughter and camaraderie, I couldn't ignore the growing feeling in my chest whenever I saw Oscar. He was kind, funny, and undeniably attractive – qualities that drew me in despite my best efforts to keep my distance.
One day, as I scrolled through Twitter during a lazy afternoon, I stumbled upon something that caught me off guard. Pictures of Oscar, smiling brightly alongside a beautiful girl with long blonde hair.
A pang of jealousy shot through me, surprising in its intensity. I realised then, with startling clarity, that my feelings for Oscar ran deeper than I had initially thought. But it was too late – I was now pretty sure he was already taken, and I had no right to interfere.
Unable to shake off my newfound jealousy, I began to distance myself from Oscar, avoiding our usual interactions and retreating into solitude. But my sudden coldness did not go unnoticed.
One evening, there was a sharp knock on my door, and when I opened it, there stood Oscar, his expression a mixture of frustration and concern.
"What's going on with you?" he demanded, his voice tinged with hurt. "You've been acting strange lately, and I want to know why."
"I'm not" I replied defensively.
"Come on, don't give me that bullshit" replied a rather angry Oscar. "You've been avoiding me. Have I done something?" he asked, his voice laced with vulnerability.
I hesitated, the weight of my emotions heavy in the air between us. But then, with a surge of courage, I found myself blurting out the truth.
"I... I think I'm in love with you, Oscar," I confessed, my voice barely above a whisper. "And seeing you with someone else... it hurts more than I thought it would."
For a moment, there was silence, the tension palpable. But then, to my surprise, Oscar stepped forward, his eyes burning with intensity.
"God, you can be so dense sometimes" he breathed
"Hum, excuse me?" I replied, clearly offended.
"The girl you're talking about, that's my new PR manager."
"Oh..."
"I thought I was being fairly obvious as to how I feel about you." he said softly, reaching out to cup my face in his hands.
And with that, he closed the distance between us, his lips meeting mine in a heated and passionate kiss, leaving me breathless.
