Notes on saltburn from an oxford uni student bc why not
- using zadok the priest as the opening for this movie of all things is sacrilegious. nothing else more aptly sums up this film’s inflated sense of it’s own importance
- Basing this in brasenose is pure wish fulfilment from fennel who went to a flop pph (permanent private halls) that no one’s ever heard of that doesn’t exist anymore .. stealing that big famous college clout. Not hers to claim 🙄 (sorry I’m a chch alum and bitter)
- Keep getting distracted by how old this “uni student” Oliver looks. Looks like he’s 40 😭
- All the tutorial stuff is 100% accurate though. Oxford vibes for the most part are accurate but not surprising since the film is written and directed by an oxford alum.
- the eating and talking in the college library is upsetting me. Maybe it flew it 2006 but wouldn’t now LMAO
- WHY ARE THEY FOCKING CYCLING IN CHRIST CHURCH MEADOW 😭😭😭 again idk abt 2006 but nowadays you ARE NOT ALLOWED
- “What college are you in mate” 100% authentic first question to ask anybody. “Yours mate” is brutal 😭 hasn’t often happened to me ..
- posh public school kids 100% don’t befriend lower class people I cannot stress this enough. That aspect keeps throwing me off it’s so not the way of things.
- Felix’s eyebrow piercing is putting me off I don’t know a single person of his class demographic with an eyebrow piercing and I know a lot 😭
- ChirpSEEing? I’ve only ever heard it pronounced chirpsing 😭 probs just me being wrong though
- This is literally an upper class fantasy of what the evil lower classes are up to frfr like we are NOT that obsessed with them I promise omggg
- “Only rich people can afford to be this filthy” so real though my college cleaners had to report my Westminster school neighbour in first year for her room being so filthy …
- Why are there no transitions between any scenes in this movie
- Inaccuracy: calling them exams. First year exams are called prelims bruh no one calls them exclusively exams like this film does
- Being able to spot a rental tux from a mile off is real
- Hanging casually in the Magdalen deer park as brasenose students with no explanation as to why they are there ? Sure ..
- Walking across the manicured grass at saltburn ??!! With a suitcase ??? After a year at oxford he would know better 😭
- I rly don’t get why these guys are friends like what do they even talk about … nothing has shown Oliver to be likeable
- The way Felix says “it’s like .. black tie” all bashful. Is so real
- “Lucky for you I’m a vampire” top 10 worst lines in film history
- This film is so evil for making me like the upper class guy more then the middle class guy like … this is a new kind of insidious
- People not knowing Oliver’s name feels overplayed idk like the public school kids at MY oxford college knew my name even if they didn’t like me. Like him being Felix’s friend would ensure that people would know his name even if they didn’t like him lol Oxford colleges are small lmao
- “You’ll eat us from the inside out” fennel announcing what she thinks abt poor people …
- The final speech abt the rich not having any natural predators except one ?? What ?? Poor people ??!!!
- The full frontal nudity at the final scene . Way to hit us while we’re down 😭

Paul Walker began his career as a child actor in the 1980s, gaining recognition in the 1990s after appearing in the television soap opera The Young and the Restless; he received praise for his performances in the teen comedy She's All That and the comedy-drama Varsity Blues (both 1999), and saw international fame by starring in The Fast and the Furious (2001).
He also starred in the commercially successful road thriller Joy Ride (2001), becoming an action star. He followed this with the box-office disappointments Into the Blue (2005) and Running Scared (2006), although he earned praise for his performance in the survival drama Eight Below, and for his portrayal of Hank Hansen in Flags of Our Fathers (both 2006). Outside of these, Walker largely appeared in low budget action films, but starred in the commercially successful heist film Takers (2010).
Walker died in a single-vehicle collision on November 30, 2013, as a passenger in a speeding car. His father and daughter filed separate wrongful death lawsuits against Porsche, which resulted in settlements. At the time of his death, Walker had not completed filming Furious 7 (2015); it was released after rewrites and stand-ins, including his brothers Cody and Caleb, both of whom filled in for Walker, while the song "See You Again" by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth was commissioned as a tribute.[3]
Walker was born on September 12, 1973, in Glendale, California.[4] His mother, Cheryl (née Crabtree), was a fashion model,[5] and his father, Paul William Walker III, was a sewer contractor and former amateur boxer, who was a two-time Golden Gloves champion.[6][7] Walker's paternal grandfather, William, had a short-lived boxing career as "Irish" Billy Walker, while another raced factory cars for Ford in the 1960s.[5]
Raised as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,[6] Walker had four younger siblings: Aimee, Ashlie, Caleb, and Cody. He spent the majority of his early life in the Sunland neighborhood of Los Angeles, and graduated from Village Christian School in 1991.[8][9] Walker subsequently attended several community colleges in Southern California, majoring in marine biology.[10]
Walker began a modelling career as a toddler, starring in a television commercial for Pampers at age two. He continued to appear in commercials, most notably for Showbiz Pizza in 1984,[11] before beginning an acting career on television that year, appearing in the teen anthology series CBS Schoolbreak Special. Walker continued to work in television until 1996, across a number of genres; he appeared in two episodes of the fantasy drama Highway to Heaven between 1984 and 1986, and secured his first leading role in 1987, appearing as Jeremy Beatty in the sitcom Throb. He continued to feature on sitcoms in the early 1990s, with guest roles in Charles in Charge, Who's the Boss?, and the short-lived What a Dummy. In 1993, he portrayed Brandon Collins on the soap opera The Young and the Restless; he and co-star Heather Tom, who played Victoria Newman, gained fame, and were nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor and Actress in a Soap Opera at the Youth in Film Awards. Walker's final television role was on Touched by an Angel, although he appeared as himself, alongside his sister Ashlie, as contestants on a 1988 episode of the game show I'm Telling!, in which they finished in second place.
Walker began his film career in 1986, appearing mainly in low budget B films. His first role was in the horror comedy Monster in the Closet, and a year later, starred in The Retaliator (retroactively subtitled Programmed to Kill), a science fiction film. In 1994, he returned to film, starring in Tammy and the T-Rex, but secured his first feature film role in the comedy Meet the Deedles in 1998; although commercially and critically unsuccessful, it allowed Walker to secure supporting roles in the films Pleasantville (1998), Varsity Blues (1999), She's All That (1999), and The Skulls (2000).[citation needed]
"[Walker] is that guy. As a director, [Walker is] completely supportive of my vision of what the film is. And even better, he's completely game for it."
—Wayne Kramer, who directed and cast Walker in Running Scared (2006).[12]
In 2001, Walker's breakthrough role was starring opposite Vin Diesel in the action film The Fast and the Furious; it was commercially successful, and subsequently launched a media franchise. The film also established Walker as a film star and leading man, as his performance garnered the MTV Movie Award for Best On-Screen Team (shared with Diesel) in 2002. Walker starred in the critically successful thriller Joy Ride (2001), also focusing on car-related action, and reprised his role as Brian O'Conner in the 2003 sequel 2 Fast 2 Furious. After this, he starred either in low-budget or commercially unsuccessful films for a time, notably Timeline (2003) and Into the Blue (2005).
Picture of Fast Five cast (from left) Dwayne Johnson, Ludacris, Jordana Brewster, Vin Diesel, and Walker with Natalie Morales for NBC's Today Show taken in April 2011
Walker portrayed Hank Hansen in Clint Eastwood's war film Flags of Our Fathers (2006) and starred in the survival drama Eight Below, both released in 2006. Eight Below garnered critical acclaim and opened in first place at the box office, grossing over US$20 million during its opening weekend.[13] Walker then starred in the independent film The Lazarus Project, which was released on DVD on October 21, 2008.
Despite initial reluctance, Walker reprised his role as Brian O'Conner after seven years, in Fast & Furious (2009). The film became the highest-grossing film in the franchise up until that point.[14] He then reprised his role in the fifth and sixth installments of the franchise, which were commercially successful, while his performances were praised. Walker was nominated for Choice Movie Actor – Action at the 2011 Teen Choice Awards for the former, and nominated for Choice Movie: Chemistry (with Diesel and Dwayne Johnson) and won his second MTV Movie Award for Best On-Screen Duo with Diesel for the latter. Walker also starred in the heist film Takers (2010),[15] and returned to modelling in 2011, appearing as the face of fragrance brand Cool Water.[16] In 2012, he founded the film production company Laguna Ridge Pictures, which signed a first-look deal with Fast & Furious distributor Universal Pictures.[17]
After his death in 2013, four films starring Walker were released; the thriller film Hours (2013), the action film Brick Mansions (2014), itself a remake of the French film District 13 (2004). He also served as executive producer on the film Pawn Shop Chronicles (2013), while Furious 7, originally slated for release in 2014, was pushed back to recreate Walker's likeness. The filmmakers hired Peter Jackson's Weta Digital visual effects house to complete this,[18] using existing reference materials, Walker's brothers Caleb and Cody, as well as actor John Brotherton, as stand-ins,[19] and outtakes or older footage,[18][20][21] to create an accurate remodel of Walker's face. The film was then released in 2015,[22] and Walker won the award for Choice Movie Actor: Action at the 2015 Teen Choice Awards, and was nominated for Choice Movie: Chemistry (shared with Diesel, Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, and Ludacris).
Walker was also set to play Agent 47 in the film adaptation Hitman: Agent 47 (2015), but died before production began.[23] It was later revealed Walker declined the role of Superman in Superman Returns (2006), allegedly due to the "Superman curse" and the celebrity associated with the role.[24]
Walker was raised in a Latter-day Saint household, but later became a non-denominational Christian.[25] He lived in Santa Barbara with his dogs.[6][26] He and Rebecca Soteros, a one-time girlfriend, had a daughter named Meadow Rain Walker,[27] who lived with her mother in Hawaii for 13 years and then moved to California to live with Walker in 2011.[28] Her godfather is Vin Diesel, with whom Walker shared a close bond; Diesel gave him the nickname "Pablo",[29] while Walker's mother referred to her son as Diesel's "other half".[30] Walker was also close friends with fellow Fast & Furious co-star Tyrese Gibson.[31][32] At the time of his death, Walker was in a relationship with Jasmine Pilchard-Gosnell.[33][34][35]
He held a brown belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Ricardo "Franjinha" Miller at Paragon Jiu-Jitsu[36][37] and was awarded his black belt by Miller posthumously.[38] Walker founded the humanitarian aid nonprofit charity Reach Out Worldwide (ROWW) with financial adviser Roger Rodas in response to the 2010 Haiti earthquake.[39][40] He traveled to a number of disaster-stricken areas to supply aid until his death.
Walker drove a R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec in 2 Fast 2 Furious. He later owned the car.
Walker had an interest in marine biology, and joined the board of directors of The Billfish Foundation in 2006.[41] He fulfilled a lifelong dream by starring in the National Geographic Channel series Expedition Great White (retroactively retitled Shark Men), which premiered in June 2010.[42][43] Walker spent 11 days catching and tagging seven great white sharks off the coast of Mexico. The expedition, led by Chris Fischer, founder and CEO of Fischer Productions, and Brett McBride and Michael Domeier of the Marine Conservation Science Institute, took measurements, gathered DNA samples, and fastened real-time satellite tags to the great white sharks, in order to study migratory patterns, especially those associated with mating and birthing, over a five-year period.[44]
A car enthusiast, Walker competed in the Redline Time Attack racing series in which he raced on the AE Performance Team driving a BMW E92 M3. His car was sponsored by Etnies, Brembo Brakes, Öhlins, Volk, OS Giken, Hankook, Gintani, and Reach Out Worldwide.[45] Walker had been preparing for an auto show prior to his death.[46] Walker owned Always Evolving, a Valencia high-end vehicle performance shop, where Rodas, a pro-am racer,[47][48] acted as CEO.[49]
Walker also had a large car collection of about 30 cars, a portion of which he co-owned along with Rodas.[50] In January 2020, twenty-one vehicles owned by Walker were sold for a combined $2.33 million during spirited bidding at an annual car auction in Arizona.[51]
The site of Walker's death on Hercules Street in Santa Clarita, 2015
On November 30, 2013, at about 3:30 p.m. PST, Walker, 40, and Roger Rodas, 38, left an event for Walker's charity Reach Out Worldwide for victims of Typhoon Haiyan,[52] with Rodas driving his 2005 Porsche Carrera GT.[53] Traveling between 80 mph (130 km/h) and 93 mph (150 km/h) in a 45 mph (72 km/h) speed zone on Hercules Street in Valencia, a neighborhood of Santa Clarita, California, the car crashed into a concrete lamp post and two trees, catching fire.[52][54] Rodas died of multiple trauma while Walker died from the combined effects of trauma and burns. Both of their bodies were burned beyond recognition.[53]
The curve where Walker and Rodas died is a popular spot for drifting cars.[55] No alcohol or other drugs were found in either man's system,[56] and neither mechanical failure nor road conditions appeared to play a role.[57] Police found no evidence of drag racing.[58] The investigation concluded that the car's speed and age of the tires were the primary reasons for the crash.[59]
Grave of Paul Walker at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills
With Furious 7 in the middle of filming at the time of Walker's death, Universal announced an indeterminate hiatus on the production, citing a desire to speak with his family before determining what to do with the film.[60]
Numerous friends and movie stars posted tributes to Walker on social media.[61] His body was cremated and his ashes were buried in a non-denominational ceremony at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.[62] His life was later chronicled in the documentary I Am Paul Walker, which was released on August 11, 2018.[63]
Lawsuits
In December 2014, Walker's father filed a wrongful death claim against Rodas's estate, seeking the return of or "a proportionate share" of revenue generated by a group of automobiles that were jointly owned by both Walker and Rodas.[64]
In September 2015, Walker's daughter filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Porsche, claiming that the Porsche Carrera GT had numerous design defects including a history of instability, and that its seat belt placement can cause harm upon impact.[65] However, Porsche denied any wrongdoing and blamed Walker, stating: "The perils, risk, and danger were open and obvious and known to him, and he chose to conduct himself in a manner so as to expose himself to such perils, dangers, and risks, thus assuming all the risks involved in using the vehicle."[66]
Walker's father and daughter both reached separate out-of-court settlements with Porsche.[67]
In April 2016, U.S. District Court Judge Philip S. Gutierrez ruled in favor of Porsche in a separate lawsuit filed by Rodas's widow Kristine.[68][69]

Earth will remember you
I'm bored so I wrote something today which is not totally crap.
Aloha! I had a wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff fanfiction idea for Black Butler while reading another ff where the reader got sucked into the anime… and I will try to write for it :D I'm not quite sure what I want to do with romantic and platonic relationships, but I'm sure there will be something. This will take place in 2023 and the 19th century (probably just before the Jack the Ripper murders begin) and will also bring some non canon characters with it ^^
First chapter, someone meeting our favourite mortician <3
Tumblr media
1. One Hero's Journey
It was cold the day it first happened. It had rained the night before and the road, trees and meadows were shrouded in a wet haze. There was a church slightly elevated on a hill, and if you tried a little you could see the lights of London through the thick veil of mist. It was still quite early, about 9 o'clock in the morning. People had gathered to say goodbye. To her, Fay's mother.
There were flowers in front of the altar and in the center was a plain coffin made of dark wood. It was closed, but behind it was a large portrait with a beautiful woman on it. She had long wavy hair as orange as the sunset and bright blue eyes. She smiled confidently at the camera, her eyes shining with the joy of life. Fay remembered the day. She was thirteen and had been to the Red Sea with her mother and father. It was a colorful sea, in stark contrast to the harsh, rocky landscape of the Sinai. Not to mention the few palm trees. Her mother wore a white dress of thin linen and pretty ornaments at the shoulder and collarbone. Fay herself had inherited her hair from her mother and unfortunately also the quickly developing sunburn of her pale skin. The honey-colored eyes, however, she had from her father.
The latter stood silently beside her while the priest addressed his words to the people in the church.
"Jesus Christ says: I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live."
Fay let her eyes wander around the room and stopped on a small figure. Not far away, she stood holding the shoulders of an even smaller figure. Prim and her little sister Julie. Fay could see that her best friend had tried to tame her sister's wild dark curls, more or less in vain. Prim smiled at her and she suddenly felt a little better.
The priest's funeral oration went on for quite a while, but Fay felt unable to listen properly. She could feel the stares on her when he got to the point where he talked about the daughter and husband she left behind and leaned slightly against her dad, who immediately put an arm around her.
She still couldn't quite grasp what had actually happened. Two weeks earlier, her mother had received a phone call, claiming to be about a sick cousin she had never heard of. Esther, Fay's mother, packed a few things and assured her not to worry and that she would be back soon. Her daughter was used to her mother leaving important things out about her life. That she didn't even talk to her father about it, but she had never disappeared like this before. So Fay was all the more surprised by the news that she had supposedly died in a car accident. And she couldn't believe it. No, she was actually sure it hadn't been a car accident. The autopsy had revealed little to nothing, and neither had the witnesses to the accident. Fay sighed. Some things about her mother's life she would probably never know…
She could no longer hear the priest speaking and looked up. She hadn't noticed that the speech was over and with a quick glance at her somewhat confused father, she noticed that the priest had stopped speaking in mid-sentence. He stared into the air and seemed so shocked that no more words would come out of him. Fay followed his gaze and then many things happened at once. The first thing she noticed was that she couldn't see what had frightened the priest so much as she got goose bumps all over her body. An unnatural heaviness was in the air, but most of all she could hear a loud bang. Someone had shot? Then screams and Fay was pushed aside, she could see her father standing in front of her as another shot rang out and there she saw him. An older man, he had a black hat pulled low on his face so she couldn't see his eyes, but he was aiming a pistol right at her... and fired.
Everything happened so fast. Fay cried out and raised her hands in front of her face as she dropped. Adrenaline coursed through her body as she fell hard between the pews. For a moment she was freezing while at the same time the frightening voices around her died away. For a moment she just lay on the cold floor trying to catch her breath, eyes closed and shaking all over. It was silent. Too quiet.
She mustered all her strength to open her eyes and stared into a gloomy, dusty church room. Faint light streamed through the stained glass windows and made little dots of light dance on the dirty wooden floor. Orange curls fell into her face, some clips had come loose from her hairdo and her hair was now flying around her in a tangled mess. Fay took a quick breath before she managed to pull herself together. Half sitting between the pews of the church, she stared in confusion at the face of an elderly lady who looked at her in disgust and then turned away from her, shaking her head. What had just happened? And where were all the people? Her mother's coffin was also no longer where it should be. Instead, a few candles were burning at the altar.
Fay let her eyes wander back to the woman who was gathering her dress to stand up. Gathering her dress? Fay gasped as she looked closer at the strange clothing. It was a cream-colored long dress that seemed to come straight out of the 19th century. Lots of adornments and extravagant skirt with lots of ruffles. She wore a fat pearl necklace with it. She looked as out of place in the dirty, dark church as Fay felt.
"Have you no decency girl?" The woman shouted at her as she passed her on her way out. Fay was still half lying on the floor in the dust. She looked down at herself in confusion for a moment, still wearing black knee length dress for the funeral with a thin jacket around her shoulder and black ankle boots. When she looked up again the woman was already gone. Swaying slightly, she stood up. Her knees were a little wobbly and the adrenaline still hadn't quite worn off. What was going on here? With a few uncertain steps, Fay followed the woman outside and was blinded by the unexpected sun. It was still quite fresh, but the fog had lifted and there were only a few small clouds in the sky. The first thing she noticed when she got outside was the view over London. Fay's breath caught in her throat. It was definitely London, but there was a dark smoke over the city and she could not make out the London Eye, the Gherkin or any of the other modern buildings of the capital of England.
Everything told her how impossible it was, that she had just hit her head or maybe even been shot and she was in a coma in the hospital. Yes, that definitely had to be it.
"You seem a little lost, dearie." Fay winced, prompting only a soft chuckle from the speaker. She had only just noticed the man standing very close to the entrance of the church, next to a tombstone. And he only made her confusion greater than it already was. He had long, gray hair and long bangs that hung down his face and a large, clearly visible scar. He wore a black coat with sleeves long enough to cover his hands. „…Undertaker?“
"Oh?! Do we know each other?" He wore his typical wide smile as he scurried closer to get a better look at her. Maybe a little too close. Instinctively, Fay flinched back a little as he stopped just inches from her face. "No, I don't think I've seen you before." He poked her cheek with one of his long fingernails.
Fay did not want to, no, could not finish her thought. Because if she admitted to herself what really happened, she would surely burst into tears immediately. She was in the 19th century and the man in front of her was Undertaker. A man she thought was only fiction and yet here he was, standing right in front of her. "Are you all right, dearie?" He asked her with a slightly worried under tone. "No." Was all Fay could say before she exhaled audibly. She hadn't even realized she'd been holding her breath. "This is crazy." She avoided the Reaper's gaze and instead stared at the view in front of her. How the hell was she going to explain this? He was from a story. This wasn't Real. A thousand thoughts buzzed in her head as one stood out clearer than any other. How did she get back? She instinctively grabbed her chest where the gunshot should have hit her. "I got shot." She spoke more to herself than to Undertaker.
"Oh, God, my dad! My friends! I don't even know what happened to them." She whirled around and ran back into the church. Leaving a slightly puzzled mortician behind. "Come on take me back!" She shouted to no one in particular. "You've got to be kidding me." She hissed angrily as she heard Undertaker's footsteps and turned to face him. He just stood there looking at her with interest. At least she thought he was, because she couldn't see his eyes. "I don't think he hears you, dearie." He chuckled, pointing to the cross on the altar. "What?" Fea was still so confused… "Oh." she just said, realizing he meant God. "I'm not really religious." This made the Reaper laugh: „You are an interesting one aren’t you?“ This was the strangest conversation she had ever had.
"I just want to go home." She murmured. Undertaker put his long fingers around her shoulder. Fea sensed that he was trying to reassure her. But his touch made her realize that she was standing alone in a dark church in the 19th century with a man she knew not only to be a Shinigami but also to be running a secret necromancer's ring. She stiffened and took a deep breath, the Reaper immediately letting go of her. When Fay looked at him again, he tilted his head, put his hand to his face and made a thoughtful gesture. So he looked a bit like confused puppy and Fea couldn't help relaxing a bit. "You seem quite uncomfortable, dearie. Would you like some tea?"
Unable to think of anything better, she nodded silently, earning another grin from Undertaker. "Perfect. Come on little one, I don't bite." He chuckled and gently pushed her out of the church. This was all so absurd, she thought.
„By the way, whats your name dearie?“

The Orthodox Church commemorates one of the most revered saints, the great martyr George the Victorious.
On St. George's Day, more than 220,000 Bulgarians have a name day, and Georgi (George) is the most common male name in Bulgaria. Nearly 152 thousand people in the country have it.
The church sings of the great martyr George as a victor because of the sufferings he suffered for the faith. He was a young, handsome and capable military leader. He distributed his inheritance to the poor, thus preparing for a Christian feat.
He bravely defended the faithful before the emperor Diocletian, who had undertaken fierce persecution against them. In response to his audacity, the brave warrior was subjected to cruel and indescribable torture, which he accepted with courage.
Christ Himself appeared to him and healed his wounds. Witnesses of the toughness, many believed him. Among them was the emperor's wife.
St. George was beheaded with a sword in the 3rd century.
To this day, the valiant warrior of Christ is an inspiring example to believers.
On St. George's Day, lamb is traditionally placed on the table. For the temple holiday in some places in our country they will observe the church statutes, according to some today is also a fast day, as it falls on Friday and they will prepare a sacrifice - of fish or beans.
St. George's Day is one of the most beloved spring holidays in the Tundzha Valley. In many of the villages of Yambol the traditions are remembered to this day.
For the holiday, the hosts decorate the gates and barns with green twigs of pear or nettle, clean the yards and prepare ritual breads. As a sign of respect for St. George, the first male lamb born during the year is slaughtered, says Elena Nikolova from Bolyarovo:
"Before they kill the lamb, they smoke it - they light a candle on the horn and burn it. We collected all the lambs and baked them in ovens. When we take them out, we take them to church again to be sung or we gather in a meadow, in the open, and the priest will go sing to them and we give each other lamb for health."
There are over 3600 namesakes today in Yambol, and over 2660 men are named Georgi (George).
