Okay, so Apollo? We all know him, right? God of the sun, light, poetry, and one too many other fucking things? Including truth, knowledge, logic, and education?

Yeah, how are we all forgetting who the God of fucking Education and Logic is? Please, for the love of everything holy, stop characterizing Apollo as a dumb blond who can’t do shit on his own and whose only traits are pride, vanity, anger issues, and being horny because he is so much more than that and this is really getting out of hand. I’ve read too many damned fics and posts where everyone treats and characterizes Apollo as an immature teenager and I am just so fucking over it. so the evanuris/blight situation is that: solas managed to, at the height of his power + with all his ancient elf besties helping, seal them into the black city and make the veil. and this took so much out of him that he was basically comatose for 5000 years. ok fine.

but then in vg, his initial plan was to put them in a different jail, while the veil is still up (despite that weakening all magic significantly and making it difficult to even access the black city). and then he wants to tear down the veil afterwards, presumably expecting to still be awake to do so. despite not having his original orb or his ancient elf besties anymore? so it doesn't particularly make sense in general. similar to how he described what he wanted to do with the orb, you'd expect him to take out the veil first and then reseal/move the jail?

(and then he wanted to put them into a Regret Prison when he is the ONLY one out of that entire situation who feels any regrets... 😭)

then his more ambiguous-sounding veil removal motives of being depressed about elves/spirits and unable to see the modern world as worthy of existence... become almost irrelevant. bc it's kind of necessary for him to Do Something? or else everyone fully dies of turbo blight when the archdemons die and the black city inevitably opens?

but then no one really mentions the looming catastrophe of the blight part, and they handwave it at the end, and all act like he's being very unreasonable. which he is! but only bc they made him dumber than a rock and weirdly inconsistent in his capabilities, not bc his motivations were actually proven to be wrong. aaaaa.

About Skeptic's hypocrisy or how rationality leads to bias

The most rational decision is the most reasonable one. Reasons are powered by arguments. Arguments are personal. Inevitably, in ambiguity of the world the most rational decision is only the most argumented decision visible to a person. With enough skill any decision can be argumented. Naturally, different people will find different points to be more relevant. And one's own conclusions will always look more rational, because they're able to see the arguments behind them, while it's hard to see the reasoning behind others. So "acting rationally" often turns out to be acting not in the most logical way, but in the most personally argumented way.

That's the card trick: logical -> rational -> reasonable -> argumented -> personal. And to think that logical appeared from avoiding personal. Wow. What a trap.

So when Smitten kills the player, it's a condemnatory act, since there's no reasoning (visible to Skeptic) to do so. But when he does that in Prisoner, it's a fully rational act, because there are reasons to do so, and everyone must understand it sooner or later.

And ehh. apart from this intellectual talk. it's also about losing agency. Skeptic appears when in the first chapter the player feels that they are being controlled by the narrator and is ready to die to do what they reasonably decided to do. In HEA TLQ is deprived of agency similarly because of Smitten. It should have hit a nerve, right? I'd argue that to value personal freedom is a core belief for Skeptic. Of course he's judgmental. BUT. In Prisoner's chapter killing the player IS affirmation of personal freedom. So he unconsciously becomes what he hates, in a way. His character is so circular, really.............hi cage....................

personally i love rwby blogs where half the posts are lamenting the hatedom and its (allegedly) overwhelming influence over people who haven’t seen rwby. i think this is an excellent use of time. i will however tell you a secret: the kind of person who chooses to subject themself to an hours-long angry rant on youtube about why a show they’ve never watched sucks, and takes that screed as an article of faith, is the kind of person who would not enjoy rwby even if they watched it.

if you’re earnestly interested in expanding rwby’s viewership, these are not the people to obsess over convincing to “give rwby a chance.” do you know how easy it is to get regular people to watch rwby? it’s so easy. literally it’s so easy. it only seems difficult if you waste all your focus and effort on begging specifically People Who Demonstrably Wouldn’t Like RWBY to pleeeease watch it.
