🥘What wip are you most excited about?
🤔What are some words or phrases you find yourself overusing?
thank you yarrow!!!! <3333
🥘What wip are you most excited about?
i only have one real wip at the moment but i am VERY excited about it hehehe! okay so it's a patpran fic where dissaya didn't allow pran to come back to krungthep for university and so he didn't go to south tech; instead, he went to singapore for his degree itself and then stayed there for a couple years after, before returning to thailand at age 25 or so to start a job at an architecture consulting firm. the first project he's assigned to is a public infrastructure project where the structural engineer consultant is, of course, pat!
i'm having a lot of fun writing pran's pining in the context of him not having seen pat in a decade, and also writing a more grown up pat who is not even pretending to be hostile to pran the way pat in the show kind of does in the first few episodes – how that both disarms pran and throws him into turmoil. i don't know when i'll start posting it though because while i have the middle and end of the fic very much outlined, i still need to work out a lot of the first third of the fic. after the zine is done, that'll probably be the next fandom-related thing i work on!
🤔What are some words or phrases you find yourself overusing?
oh my god, so many. i use "cold and shocky" a lot to describe the physical sensation in a character's body when they are being plunged into panic... i've been using "ardent" too much to describe kissing because there's only so many ways to talk about kissing... i know there are more but those are the first two that come to mind!

Due Diligence in Thailand
Thailand, with its flourishing economy and diverse investment opportunities, attracts businesses and individuals seeking a foothold in Southeast Asia. However, venturing into any new market requires thorough due diligence – a meticulous investigation to mitigate risks and make informed decisions. This article delves into the intricacies of due diligence in Thailand, exploring various aspects and considerations crucial for successful investment or business ventures.
Beyond the Basics: Key Areas of Due Diligence
Due diligence in Thailand is a multi-faceted process encompassing various areas depending on the specific investment or business activity. Here's a breakdown of key areas to consider:
Company Due Diligence: When acquiring an existing company or entering a merger/partnership, a thorough investigation of the target company is paramount. This includes verifying financial statements, scrutinizing legal and tax compliance, and assessing potential liabilities. Due diligence should also explore the company's reputation, management structure, and intellectual property portfolio.
Property Due Diligence: Investing in Thai real estate necessitates meticulous property due diligence. This involves verifying land title ownership, ensuring the absence of encumbrances (restrictions on ownership or use), and confirming zoning regulations and development permits. Investigating past construction records and potential environmental issues associated with the property is also crucial.
Regulatory and Legal Due Diligence: Understanding the relevant Thai laws and regulations governing your specific industry or activity is essential. This may involve analyzing licensing requirements, potential tax implications, and compliance with labor laws. Consulting legal counsel specializing in Thai business law is highly recommended to navigate the legal landscape.
Market Due Diligence: Assessing the overall market dynamics for your chosen sector is vital. This includes analyzing competitor landscape, consumer trends, potential future market shifts, and any regulatory changes on the horizon. Understanding the market landscape allows you to make informed decisions about product/service offerings, pricing strategy, and overall business viability.
Conducting Due Diligence: Internal vs. External Resources
Due diligence can be conducted internally by your own team or outsourced to qualified professionals. The chosen approach depends on factors like the complexity of the investment, the size of your organization, and your available resources.
Internal Resources: If you have an experienced team with relevant expertise in Thai business practices and legalities, conducting due diligence internally can be a cost-effective option. However, this approach requires a significant investment of time and resources.
External Resources: Engaging a reputable due diligence firm with expertise in Thailand offers several advantages. They possess the necessary knowledge of local regulations, have established networks for verification purposes, and can provide a more objective assessment. This can be particularly valuable for complex investments or those involving unfamiliar industries.
Additional Considerations: Language and Cultural Nuances
The Thai language and cultural nuances can pose challenges during the due diligence process. Working with professionals fluent in Thai and familiar with local business practices is crucial. They can effectively communicate with local authorities, interpret legal documents, and navigate cultural sensitivities that might otherwise hinder the investigation.
The Importance of a Comprehensive Approach
Due diligence is not a one-size-fits-all process. Tailoring the investigation to your specific investment or business goals is essential. A comprehensive approach, encompassing the various areas mentioned above, will equip you with the knowledge and insights necessary to make informed decisions with minimized risks.
Conclusion
By undertaking a thorough due diligence process in Thailand, you can mitigate potential pitfalls, identify hidden opportunities, and ultimately increase your chances of success in this dynamic market. Remember, due diligence is an investment in itself – one that can save you from costly mistakes and pave the way for a flourishing business venture in the Land of Smiles.

Largest global IT outage in history did not affect Russia
A global technology outage caused by a software update from US cybersecurity company Crowdstrike caused chaos around the world on Friday, with flights suspended and healthcare, banking and ground transport systems facing major disruptions.
George Kurtz, president and CEO of Crowdstrike, said Friday morning that the company is “actively working with customers affected by a flaw discovered in one content update for Windows hosts” – a glitch that affected Microsoft users around the world. He also added:
“This is not a security incident or cyberattack. The issue has been identified, isolated, and a fix has been deployed. We refer customers to the support portal for the latest updates and will continue to provide complete and continuous updates on our website. We further recommend organisations ensure they’re communicating with CrowdStrike representatives through official channels. Our team is fully mobilised to ensure the security and stability of CrowdStrike customers.”
The Financial Times explained that Crowdstrike is “one of the world’s largest providers of “endpoint” security software, used by companies to monitor for security problems across a huge range of devices, from desktop PCs to checkout payment terminals.”
Troy Hunt, a security consultant, wrote on social media that “this will be the largest IT outage in history.” He also added:
“This is basically what we were all worried about with Y2K, except it’s actually happened this time.”
The impacts of the outage cascaded rapidly. Wired noted that “in the early hours of Friday, companies in Australia running Microsoft’s Windows operating system started reporting devices showing Blue Screens of Death (BSODs).” It continued:
“Shortly after, reports of disruptions started flooding in from around the world, including from the UK, India, Germany, the Netherlands, and the US: TV station Sky News went offline, and US airlines United, Delta, and American Airlines issued a “global ground stop” on all flights.”
The UK has been hit by a glitch
As The New York Times observed, the National Health Service in the United Kingdom “was crippled throughout the morning on Friday, as a number of hospitals and doctors offices lost access to their computer systems.”
Whitehall crisis officials were coordinating the response through the Cobra committee that deals with matters of national emergency or major disruption. Ministers were in touch with their sectors to tackle the fallout from the IT failure, and the transport secretary, Louise Haigh, said she was working “at pace with industry” after trains and flights were affected, The Guardian reported.
In the US, flights were grounded owing to communications problems that appear to be linked to the outage. American Airlines, Delta and United Airlines were among the carriers affected. Berlin airport temporarily halted all flights on Friday, while in Australia, Melbourne airport advised customers it was “experiencing a global technology issue which is impacting check-in procedures for some airlines.”
Global flight cancellations
There had been more than 1,000 flight cancellations worldwide so far due to the IT failure, according to the aviation analysis firm Cirium.
Long lines formed at airports in Asia as airlines lost access to check-in and booking services at a time when many travelers are heading away on summer vacations. News outlets in Australia — where telecommunications were severely affected — were pushed off air for hours. Hospitals and doctor’s offices had problems with their appointment systems, while banks in South Africa and New Zealand reported outages to their payment system or websites and apps.
At Hong Kong’s airport, Yvonne Lee, 24, said she only found out her flight to Phuket in Thailand was postponed to Saturday when she arrived at the airport, saying the way it was handled would “affect the image of Hong Kong’s airport very much.” Her already short five-day trip would now have to be further shortened, she said.
In India, Hong Kong and Thailand, many airlines were forced to manually check in passengers. An airline in Kenya was also reporting disruption.
Some athletes and spectators descending on Paris ahead of the Olympics were delayed as was the arrival of their uniforms and accreditations, but Games organisers said disruptions were limited and didn’t affect ticketing or the torch relay.
In Germany, Berlin-Brandenburg Airport halted flights for several hours due to difficulties in checking in passengers, while landings at Zurich airport were suspended and flights in Hungary, Italy and Turkey disrupted.
The Dutch carrier KLM said it had been “forced to suspend most” of its operations.
Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport warned that the outage was having a “major impact on flights” to and from the busy European hub. The chaotic morning coincided with one of the busiest days of the year for Schiphol.
Israel said its hospitals and post office operations were disrupted.
In South Africa, at least one major bank said it was experiencing nationwide service disruptions as customers reported they were unable to make payments using their bank cards in stores. The New Zealand banks ASB and Kiwibank said their services were down as well.
Shipping was disrupted too: A major container hub in the Baltic port of Gdansk, Poland, the Baltic Hub, said it was battling problems resulting from the global system outage.
Russia was unaffected by the outage
Meanwhile, Russia was less affected by this outage, mainly due to sanctions, import substitution strategy and technological sovereignty.
The global IT failure of devices running the Windows 10 operating system did not affect the operation of Russian airports and airlines, with flights running as scheduled. There are no problems with the information systems of Russian Railways.
“Rosatom” reported that the systems of the concern “Rosenergoatom” work on “import-independent software,” so there are no problems in operation. The disruption in Microsoft’s work will not affect the operation of Russia’s energy system in any way, the agency said.

Indian refiners cancel palm oil contracts on duty hike, price rise-Reuters News MUMBAI, Sept 23 (Reuters) - Indian refiners cancelled 100,000 metric tons of palm oil purchases for delivery between October and December, as New Delhi's move to raise import duties due to a rally in overseas prices prompted them to book profits, five trade officials told Reuters. Refiners in the world's largest importer of palm oil cancelled this quantity over the past four days, including 50,000 tons on Monday, after Malaysian palm oil futures jumped to their highest level in 2-1/2 months. The Indian cancellations could limit the rally in Malaysian palm oil prices FCPOc3, although they could support soyoil prices BOc2 as some refiners shift to soyoil. India earlier this month raised the basic import tax on crude and refined edible oils by 20 percentage points, which effectively increases the total import duty crude palm oil to 27.5% from 5.5%. "The hefty duty hike and the jump in Malaysian prices caught everyone off guard," said an Indian buyer who operates a refinery on the east coast and cancelled palm oil shipments for October delivery. "It created a situation where refiners can make more money by cancelling old purchases instead of refining and selling. Sellers are happy too, since they can now sell at higher prices to new buyers." India, on average, imports 750,000 tons of palm oil every month, and the cancellation of 100,000 tons represents about 13.3% of monthly imports. Crude palm oil (CPO) is currently being offered at about $1,080 a ton, including cost, insurance and freight (CIF), in India for October delivery, compared to around $980 to $1,000 a month ago, giving profit margin of $80 to $100 to buyers. East Coast-based refiners are washing out on contracts by cancelling them and making a very decent profit, said Aashish Acharya, vice president at Patanjali Foods Ltd PAFO.NS, a leading importer of edible oils. India imports palm oil mainly from Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. "Refiners aren't sure about the demand for the December quarter with these higher prices. They're also worried about whether the prices will hold. That's why they're cancelling contracts," said Sandeep Bajoria, chief executive of Sunvin Group, a vegetable oil brokerage and consultancy firm. Price-sensitive Asian buyers traditionally rely on palm oil due to its low cost and quick shipping times. However, with the recent rise in prices, palm oil is now trading at a premium over soyoil. Buyers will prefer buying cheaper soyoil and sunflower oil for winter months than expensive palm oil, said a Mumbai-based dealer with a global trade house. India's palm oil imports usually moderate during winter months as the tropical oil solidifies at lower temperatures. India buys imports soybean and sunflower oil mainly from Argentina, Brazil, Russia and Ukraine.

The Evolution of Engineering Outsourcing: Past, Present, and Future.
Core engineering practices with the support of outsourcing partners have been able to focus on remote product development very effectively. The dedicated involvement of the engineering service providers has been very successful in meeting the needs of the engineering firms. The outsourcing partners have been able to manage even the core activities when required because of a well-established industry-wide collaboration framework that combines the role and expertise of OEMs, suppliers, and pure software players. The changing needs and an abundance of outsourcing opportunities have resulted in newer players within the ecosystem. With OEMs looking to outsource core activities, outsourcing organizations are moving forward to enhance their capabilities by investing in tools, processes, and innovation. This constantly evolving environment is bolstered by the growing emphasis and investment in R&D and innovation.
Tumblr media
PAST
After World War II certain developments made business more global from local. The first use of outsourcing in recent history was in the 1950s with time sharing lasting about 25 years. As technology continued to advance, so did new outsourcing ideas. One major consulting firm Arthur Anderson in the last century invented remote management services. This allows a customer’s systems, networks, and applications to be monitored and managed remotely from a network operation center (NOC). The customer was assured of good service through the implementation of so-called Service Level Agreements (SLAs). New models of outsourcing came about in the late 1980s and 1990s with the profound leap in Internet technology and software. Initially, companies used to outsource the areas to specialize in which they found less important and put their resources in those areas that were more important. Most of the outsourced IT jobs in the USA are from India. There may be many reasons for which one could be that India has higher education that promotes and practices. Emphasis was given to work –experience, vocationalization, improvements in scientific and technological education, and research to improve productivity. This brought India to become a player on the world stage. This has helped to build a labor force that can send workers to foreign lands. This has also allowed many multinational companies to be established on Indian soil so that our skilled personnel can provide their service at a very economical rate.
Germany had many trade schools called Gewerbesculen that fused technology and management, while also having technical schools, Technische Hochshulen. At the University level, science and research were the primary focus, with cutting-edge experiments conducted that made their system “the world’s envy and model.” The Germans were not innovating by trial and error but were authenticating it using scientific methods for improvement. Higher education could be the very same reason for Germany to dominate the electricity and chemical industry.
The United States founded its technical universities after it passed its Land Grant Act in 1862 during the Civil War. Most of the new schools had specialties in agriculture and mining, providing the scientific basis for improvement and help to the business community. Most of the new schools had specialties in agriculture and mining, providing the scientific basis for improvement and help to the business community.
PRESENT
According to Gartner, a marketing firm, India is currently an undisputed leader in offshore outsourcing services. India accounts for 70% of the total offshore revenue, and a vast number of trained IT professionals. Other countries like Bangladesh, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, and Malaysia have been progressing greatly as outsourcing partners.
The legacy of the British Raj which has become a boon to Indian workers has been the strong emphasis on English proficiency. The Indian education system also fosters strong skills in mathematics and science. A good proportion of students go for further education and skilled human power. So all these could be many of the reasons for India to be a hot spot for outsourcing.
Furthermore, India offers a tax-friendly environment; it has a separate Ministry of Information Technology to look into IT-related matters; IT has become an integral part of the national agenda. Telecom bandwidth in India is over-provisioned and easily accessible to IT industries. The natural time difference between India and the US and Europe is easily exploited to allow a longer working day. Outsourcing to India is also very attractive because of the convenience of umbrella organizations in Indian firms. They handle almost all their business requirements at one stop which has hardware and software integration and call centers.
FUTURE
According to a survey conducted by Forrester about 3.3 million U.S. service industry jobs and $136 billion in wages will move offshore to countries like India, Bangladesh, Russia, China, Singapore, and the Philippines. It can be said that with the history of outsourcing and the sound economic theory of comparative advantage behind the outsourcing model, one is tempted to say that outsourcing is, in fact, inevitable. As firms that are already enjoying the benefits of outsourcing cut costs further, competitors in the U.S. and elsewhere will be forced to follow suit.
The Engineering Outsourcing Industry is undergoing a significant transformation in this fast-paced and interconnected world. Companies across have realized the great potential of outsourcing engineering tasks to meet their project demands. A number of factors are responsible for shaping this industry’s landscape and having an innovative approach to the engineering areas.
1. An expanding and bullish economy
The future of the global engineering outsourcing market, with a CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) of approximately 25% is on an upward trajectory. In 2021, it was valued at $429.4 billion and is expected to exceed $750 billion by 2027.
2. Cost cuttings
One of the primary driving factors for outsourcing engineering tasks is an overall reduction in cost. It is estimated that companies can save up to as much as 40% on operational costs when outsourced. This includes lower labor and infrastructure expenses, making it a financially attractive option.
3. Ensuring good quality
It is a misconception that outsourcing engineering compromises quality. This misconception has been statistically proven that 78% of organizations reported that the quality of work outsourced met or exceeded their expectations.
4. Advances in technology
The engineering outsourcing industry has concurrently advanced with technological advances in other fields. 5G technology, AI, IoT, and data analytics have opened up new avenues for innovative solutions and increased demand for specialized skills.
5. International labor pool of workers
Engineering outsourcing is sending feelers to access a vast global talent pool. Companies would definitely take advantage of the talent by outsourcing. Fact say that about 62% of companies prefer offshore outsourcing to access the best engineering expertise.
6. Diversification of industries
Engineering outsourcing is not confined or restricted to one area. Aerospace, automotive, electronics, shipping, and more are all benefiting from this trend. Many other sectors of industries are turning to outsourcing for tailored solutions.
7. Environment conscious
Outsourcing has effectively used an eco-friendly approach. A reduction in office space has been a conscious effort to reduce the ecological footprint. It has also reduced commuting by air and road resulting in conserving energy another contribution to the reduction of carbon footprint thereby, aligning with the global push for eco-friendliness.
8. Not smooth sailing - challenges ahead
However, there are challenges to address. Data security, communication barriers, and the need to adapt to cultural differences are some concerns. Identifying them at the right time, providing suitable solutions, and being mindful is crucial.
9. Future Predictions
The future of engineering outsourcing is bright. The use of AI and robotics would increase. This would make repetitive tasks easier and more efficient. This will also bring in the need for automation and cyber security to a heightened level.
To sum it up, the Engineering Outsourcing Industry is undergoing a transformative journey. This journey promotes the accessing of talent pool not just locally but also globally. The optimization of technology along with environmental sustainability is the motto. The journey will not be smooth but the potential benefits are undeniable.
The engineering outsourcing industry has something to offer be it a business owner exploring outsourcing options or an engineer looking for exciting and challenging career opportunities. Needless to say, the journey is worth taking as per the statistics.

Restructuring Hospitality: A New Reality
6 steps to adapt to the new reality in Hospitality.
As we now are seeing the light at the end of the Covid 19 tunnel it’s time to refocus. Even if you or your family are fortunate enough not to have been affected, we certainly must adjust our thinking regularly. This applies at a personnel level and as importantly at a business level.
This article has the purpose to list the necessary steps that each owner of a hospitality asset, be it hotels or resorts should consider to undertake.
It serves as a hands-on checklist and helpful tool for owners to use. The way we have been managing our assets prior to the crisis, is for most properties and owners no longer a viable way moving forward.
NEED FOR CHANGE……. The world is forever changing; however, this pandemic has hastened the need to accept change and adapt much quicker particularly in the business of hospitality. We are to accept that we need to modify how we operate our businesses, and take a fresh look at what exactly do we need to do in order to remain profitable.
Almost all hotel and resorts will be simply forced due to lower revenue streams and slow recovery, to change the business model and the way we have been doing business.
So here is a guideline of where to start and which actions to consider…………
In our view with the current crisis the main areas of the business where we see a need for change are: A. Human resources B. Operations C. Finance D. Marketing
So, lets briefly tackle them and break them down in steps for action:
STEP 1: CHANGE HUMAN RESOURCE……..
One of the highest costs in hospitality is clearly payroll and we can and should approach to manage this expense differently and in a new fashion.
In the new reality a solution in payroll is to “outsource” some main management functions and overhead departments to third parties and outside experts.
This with the clear objective to overall reduce the cost of managing and execute these responsibilities in a professional manner. Here are some real outsource solutions for you to consider directly: - Interim Management - outsource your main executive management with Interim Management. Instead of having a permanent full time Manager(s), hire an Interim Manager and have at the same the operation supervised by an outside asset management company. This will give you the benefit of getting more expertise, more out of the box thinking in management, introducing new practices and clearly saving a lot of executive payroll.
- Sales – focus on direct sales Instead of having a full team of sales managers, you should consider to outsource these functions of direct sales to a sales company that has good contacts in contracting and distribution channels. Allow specialists and experienced sales persons to execute direct sales on your behalf. We have seen this successfully being done at a much lower staff cost and with more efficiency and a higher sales productivity.
- Marketing, including marketing communications & Social Media management.
This important responsibility can and should be outsourced to a specialized marketing company and for them to manage the content and communications methodology. Clearly this can be done on part time basis instead with a full-time team in house. The advantage is that a more focused and more experienced team is fulfilling these responsibilities at a lower monthly cost.
- Accounting & Finance It has for long been very interesting phenomena that the accounting and finance teams in Asia are so much larger than in EU or USA. On an average they can easily be double in Asia. Regardless outsourcing the main accounting responsibilities to an outside accounting firm can make a lot of sense and be quite efficient and economical. Areas to outsource would include accts payable, accts receivables, payroll admin, P&L reporting. Areas like General cashiering, purchasing may be kept inhouse. It is important to note that this does not imply loss of control as long as objectives and reporting methods are clear and disciplined. We are to change how we use of our resources and shift to make use of outsourcing and use specialists who are compensated by their achievements, measured by the deliverables.
This is to be combined with pro-active senior management whereby all heads of departments are to hold an extra key responsibility other than their more general role. They are to take on sales approach, drive revenue and all be out “knocking on client’s doors” – thus becoming an active hands manager. We are to look at our teams and review the deliverables and set more clear objectives of what we expect from your management team and indeed also evaluate our team in this regard.
STEP 2: INCREASE HYGIENE AND SAFETY
Operations clearly have to change and of course the first and foremost required area of change is in HYGIENE & SAFETY “Clean Management” is to be a new discipline in our operations ! Hygiene practices are already being modified and more emphasis on training and understanding of the importance of hygiene is required, from the moment a guest arrives at check-in till they depart, while visiting and using, guest rooms, public areas, outlets, recreational facilities.
Clean Management is and will be a new standard in hospitality and this means executing an extensive checklist including: screening of guests, disinfecting public areas and guest rooms, personal protective gear for staff members, reduction of guest & staff contacts both personal and through tools, equipment & amenities. Options are using Ultra violet air & light sterilizers and anti-microbial coating on public surfaces.
This extensive checklist is available.
STEP 3: CHANGE OPERATIONS – LAYOUTS
The focus on Food & Beverage has changed, as guests now expect more healthy menu options. It once was an option, but now it has become a mandatory inclusion. The manner in which F & B is served and the now infamous breakfast buffet is a format of the past and replaced with controlled “pods” being preferred and expected. In-room food & beverage is also to change. Minibars should have been made extinct a long time ago and replaced with a grab and go counter in the lobby. Room service will be more important and will grow but with a limited and more compact menu to be offered while reducing staff interventions with guests.
In operations we now can and we are to utilize more technology. Today we are in a much more sophisticated business environment and the technology is working in our favour. This we should embrace and we are to keep abreast of these changes in the most affordable way possible, by seeking regular technical upgrade guidance. Clear examples forcing faster change are key-less registration, self-check-in and check-out kiosks, plus screening and disinfectant tunnels, UV air and light sterilizer cleaning methods.
STEP 4: UNDERSTAND NEW GUEST EXPECTATIONS
Guest expectations in the tourism world are changing as we speak. The deeper and longer the crisis will last, the more the consumer will be changing their expectations. Tourism is most certainly not going to be the same as before and we will be faced with a transformation in tourism in general. The consumer is already adapting and they are acknowledging that we no longer have to travel all around the world. Guests will opt for more domestic or short haul travel opposed to have to travel to other side of the world to an idyllic island. Consumer will opt to take a holiday in a RV and explore the nature in or around his own country or neighboring country without having to fly. Guests will want to spend “to do good” and request to engage in more responsible tourism.
The expectations will change, as the COVID crisis has a combined impact on topics like climate change, circle economy and sustainability. All this implies that the guest now more and more will request more sustainable solutions in hotels & resorts, more organic food, more vegetarian options, experience more waste reduction, witness more plastic free operations. The consumer will want to explore more local experiences and enjoy local sourced produce and supplies.
As mentioned, expectations will also include the post Covid hygiene and distances practices while maintaining a people interaction element but with a more practical approach. We can preserve the environment whereby human contact is evident but introduce reduced direct contact.
Resorts where space allows can offer a greater feel good factor, touching nature through exploratory walks, creating flora and fauna interaction, have herbal gardens, select locavore styled suppliers with local primary producers delivering a farm to table product with less chemical interference. The cultural experiences are to include not only the culinary aspects but also the medical and the spiritual will be sought. We are to differentiate with sub regional cultures and cuisines, specialise and create holistic experiences.
Another important aspect of the changing guest expectations is answering to the request for Wellness facilities and services. The term Wellness is all encompassing versus the feel-good Spa concept. We are to add in the Health component and then see where these two terms can be introduced as part of the daily operations. It will soon be expected by all guests, explore it and then introduce it throughout your business to include both staff and guests.
STEP 5: NEW WAYS OF MARKETING
In the first phase of a new marketing the emphasis is clearly going to be: “Going Domestic”.
In all countries and regions domestic tourism is going to the key to most instant recovery. Most attention is to given to individual travel and stimulating and selling individual tourism.
Group travel and meeting business is still long and far away and should be targeted merely in a second phase.
Secondly it will be important after opening up again, that revenue management is given highest priority. Correct pricing is going to crucial, while closely monitoring supply and demand patterns. Those with a revised and strong strategy will be able to pick up business the fastest.
Thirdly the importance of distribution channels is ever so increasing and one needs to engage heavily with the main players. At the same time there is an opportunity to engage more local distribution channels, with offering local and domestic packages, pre-sale offers and communicate such through local media. Social media will only have increased power, as the traditional wholesalers will in first phase not be your feeder markets You are to create more local packages both for local leisure and for local small business get-together.
Finally a new given is that one will have to strengthen to communicate to all potential customers in a different way and giving the consumers the comfort and trust that the destination and facilities are truly safe and trustworthy.
Communicating and instilling confidence will be a new thing and of great importance. This delivery of confidence and safety will distinct the winners for the losers.
STEP 6 CRITICALLY REVIEW FINANCING.
One of the most important factors going forward is that owning company will have to take a much closer look at their asset management: how to they manage their investment and cash flows. In order to continue a healthy business model, you as owning companies will have to closely monitor the cash flow in mid and long term. Measures you can take and are to consider include restructure the finances, with newly negotiated loan agreements with new interest and principal schedules. Negotiate with the banks and lenders revised grace periods and deferred payment schedules.
Secondly is to review and negotiate management terms, (in the case that you have an operator) including deferred payment schedules, softening of cluster fees or change of such.
Thirdly is to review the reserves for capital expenditures and if these clauses can be deferred or altered.
Fourth is to review local tax relief measures, including reduced withholding tax, deferred or lowered corporate taxes imposed by government and revised land/ estate taxes.
IN CONCLUSION
In summary the Covid 19 crisis can be seen as a positive game changer and we should take advantage of such opportunity. It has given us time to reflect on ourselves our families and more importantly on others. Now it the time to embrace the opportunity for change and to become leaner and more efficient. Hands on change in management is the answer. You are to seek and challenge change, consolidate your particular concepts and specialise by using the best resources available. You are not to be intimidated by change: review, restructure and restore your business.

Trafficked Indians Forced into Cybercrimes at ‘Chinese-Controlled Scam Centres’: CBI FIR
Global Trafficking Network
In a dramatic revelation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has unveiled a chilling international human trafficking network that forces Indian nationals into cybercrimes at operations controlled by Chinese entities. This disturbing disclosure, detailed in a newly filed FIR, sheds light on the sinister mechanisms behind the trafficking of Indians to Southeast Asian countries where they are coerced into executing elaborate fraud schemes.
Tumblr media
The Trafficking Operation
According to the FIR, an intricate global network is involved in luring Indian citizens with the promise of lucrative job opportunities in countries like Thailand, Dubai, and Bangkok. Once these individuals arrive at their destinations, they are covertly transported to Southeast Asian nations, particularly Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar. There, they are held under duress and forced to participate in cybercriminal activities at “Chinese-controlled scam centres.”
The CBI’s investigation into this complex operation is part of a broader probe that began after significant leads emerged from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), a division of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Rajesh Kumar, CEO of I4C, highlighted that many cybercrimes reported in India have links to these Southeast Asian countries, with numerous fraudulent web applications written in Mandarin, indicating a connection to China.
The FIR Details
The FIR describes a disturbing case involving Saddam Sheikh, a resident of Palghar, Maharashtra. Sheikh was approached by individuals from a South Delhi-based manpower consultancy firm who offered him a job in Thailand. After paying Rs 1.4 lakh for visa and travel expenses, Sheikh traveled to Bangkok, only to be deceived and sent to Laos. There, he encountered additional agents and was introduced to the Chinese and Indian operators in the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone.
In Laos, Sheikh was forced to work on fraudulent social media schemes designed to cheat individuals in India, Canada, and the United States through cryptocurrency investment scams. After enduring forced labor and exploitation, Sheikh managed to escape from the scam centre and returned to India on April 19.
Response from Authorities
The FIR, lodged after multiple discussions between the MHA, Telecom Ministry, Reserve Bank of India, and CBI, highlights efforts to identify and address vulnerabilities in the banking and telecom sectors that enable such cybercrimes. The investigation has prompted calls for enhanced measures to prevent and mitigate human trafficking and cyber fraud.
The discovery of potential explosive devices in the suspect’s car further complicates the case, suggesting that some traffickers may expect to survive their criminal operations. The devices, along with the AR-15-style rifle used in the crimes, have been sent to the Bureau’s lab in Quantico, Virginia, for analysis.
Broader Implications
The revelation has significant implications for the upcoming political discourse in India and beyond. As India grapples with the fallout from these revelations, the trafficking network’s ties to global cybercrime and organized criminal operations raise urgent questions about international cooperation and the effectiveness of current anti-trafficking and cybercrime strategies.
In response to the unfolding situation, both Indian and international authorities are intensifying their efforts to dismantle the trafficking network and provide support to the victims. The scale and sophistication of this operation underscore the need for a coordinated global response to combat human trafficking and cybercrime.
As investigations continue, the CBI and its partners are working diligently to uncover the full extent of the trafficking network and bring those responsible to justice. The case serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability of individuals lured by promises of a better life and the need for vigilance and robust measures to protect against such exploitation.
