Santillana del Mar, Spain (No. 3)
The place that today occupies Santillana del Mar was called Planes since the Roman conquest, as attested by a Latin document of the year 980: baseleca Sancta Iuliana locum qui dicitur Planes. Plans could come from the Latin planum (clear place between mountains). From that moment the importance of the religious complex exceeded that of the place, and as a result of the belonging it had with the Asturian kingdom, in 1228 it is called Villa de Sancta Illana ("Illana" in Asturian is "Juliana"). It is believed that the current toponym is a derivation of this, to which it was added from the Sea simply because of its proximity to the Bay of Biscay.
Thus, the original name of Sancta Illana is united in the form Santayllana in a document of 1326. In another of 1338 it reads Santillana, and in another more than 1390 Sancta Illana, Sanctayllana, Santyllana and Santillana are used indifferently. In another of 1453 there is only the Santillana form.

Some good news!
A ban on homosexual sex has been overturned by senior judges in Antigua and Barbuda, in a landmark win for campaigners who aim to ditch outdated colonial legislation.
The Caribbean nation’s High Court ruled that legislation that criminalised same-sex relations breached the constitution’s protections on “personal privacy” and “discrimination on the basis of sex”.
Judge Marissa Robertson agreed with a challenge that “the right to privacy extends beyond the right to be left alone and includes the concept of dignity of the individual, aspects of physical and social identity, and the right to develop and establish relationships with other human beings”.
She added that the constitutional protections extended to “the right to establish and maintain relationships with people of the same sex”.
The challenge was brought by Orden David, a private citizen, and Women Against Rape, an Antiguan non-governmental organisation. The country’s attorney-general defended the law.
The ruling will decriminalise same-sex sexual acts between those aged over 16 and Antigua, which has a population of slightly more than 100,000, will become the third country in the Caribbean region where a court has ruled against what campaigners have argued are homophobic laws dating from British colonial rule.
Belize decriminalised homosexual sex in 2016. It was followed by a court ruling in Jamaica in 2020, which found that criminal law bans on homosexual sex violated the American Convention on Human Rights, which was adopted in 1978 and has been ratified by 11 jurisdictions. However, the law in Jamaica has not yet been repealed.
The ban in Antigua was most recently reinforced by statute in 1995. The legislation stipulated prison sentences of up to 15 years for “buggery” and up to five years for “serious indecency”.
Men and women were criminalised under the offences, which were originally imposed on the Caribbean country by the British during the colonial period.
Commenting on the ruling, Téa Braun, chief executive of the Human Dignity Trust, a campaign group based in London, said that “after almost 150 years on the statute books, devastating countless LGBT lives in their wake, these colonial legacy laws have finally found their rightful place in the history books”.
Braun described the court’s decision as “a pivotal victory for LGBT people in Antigua and Barbuda”.
The trust said that other than Antigua and Jamaica, there were seven western hemisphere countries that continued to criminalise homosexual sex. They are Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Saint Kitts and Nevis.

SAINT OF THE DAY (February 13)
Tumblr media
Catherine was born Alessandra Lucrezia Romola de Ricci on 23 April 1522 in Florence, Italy.
Having lost her mother in her infancy, her father placed her in the Convent of Monticelli, near the gates of Florence, where her aunt, Louisa de Ricci, was a nun when she was between the age of six and seven.
To her, the place was a paradise, but after some years, her father took her home.
Attracted to the religious life, and with the consent of her father, she received the religious veil in the convent of Dominicanesses at Prat, in Tuscany, in the year 1535 at fourteen years of age.
For two years, she suffered inexpressible pains under a complication of violent distempers, which remedies only seemed to increase.
She sanctified those sufferings by the interior disposition with which she bore them and which she nourished by assiduous meditation on the passion of Christ.
The victory over herself and purgation of her affections were completed by a perfect spirit of prayer; for by the union of her soul with God and the establishment of the absolute reign of his love in her heart, she was dead to and disengaged from all earthly things.
When she was young, she was first chosen as mistress of the novices, then sub-prioress and, in the twenty-fifth year of her age, was appointed as perpetual prioress.
The reputation of her extraordinary sanctity and prudence drew her many visits from a great number of bishops, princes, and cardinals.
Among them, Cardinals Cervini, Alexander of Medicis and Aldobrandini, who were afterwards raised to St. Peter's chair under the names of Marcellus II, Clement VIII and Leo XI.
Most wonderful were the raptures of St. Catherine in meditating on the passion of Christ, which was her daily exercise but to which she totally devoted herself every week from Thursday noon to three o'clock in the afternoon on Friday.
One of the miracles that was documented for her canonization was her appearance many hundreds of miles away from where she was physically located.
This involved appearing in a vision to St. Philip Neri, a resident of Rome, with whom she had maintained a long-term correspondence.
Neri, who was otherwise very reluctant to discuss miraculous events, confirmed the event.
After a long illness, she passed from this mortal life to everlasting bliss and possession of the object of all her desires on the feast of the Purification of our Lady on 2 February 1589, the sixty-seventh year of her age.
She was beatified by Pope Clement XII on 23 November 1732 and canonized by Pope Benedict XIV on 29 June 1746.

How to Cross Borders If You Have A Second Passport
Many questions come up when obtaining second citizenship, including how to travel with 2 passports, which passport to use where, and which passport has to be presented while crossing an international border.
It can get a little confusing because the passport needs to be produced multiple times: once in your home country at the airline desk and once at the immigration counter, and once in another country after arrival.
It’s important to Present the Correct Passport.
There is nothing to be concerned about if you keep a few key points in mind; traveling with one or more passports is fairly common and millions of individuals do it every day.
Whether you are from a nation that allows dual citizenship or not will determine whether you are able to travel internationally using two passports.
1. Dual Citizenship Allowed
You can fly straight from your home country to another country with a second passport without transiting if your country permits dual citizenship. For instance, dual citizenship is allowed in Nigeria, which enables Nigerian residents holding passports from Grenada or Dominica to travel directly from Nigeria to the UK without passing via a neutral country. Nigerians cannot, however, go to the UK or Russia using their Nigerian passports.
2. Dual Citizenship NOT Allowed
If you cannot carry two passports and your country prohibits dual citizenship, things become complicated. In that situation, you shouldn’t reveal two passports because doing so is against the law.
If you go through a neutral third nation, such as Dubai, Istanbul, Hong Kong, etc., where you may exchange passports, the usage of a dual passport will work well. For the third nation you are utilizing for transit, you need to have a visa, residency permit, etc.
You must abide by the following rules, and using the right passport is important:
For instance, dual national Indian citizens must use their Indian passports to enter and exit India. Citizens of other countries must also use the same passport.
Those nations that prohibit dual citizenship, travel, or the use of multiple passports: To leave the nation, you must instead provide a visa or residency permit. It is preferable if you have a visa, resident permit, or permanent residence card for the country you are visiting because certain nations (like China and India) have exit checks.
You must also register the appropriate passport with the airlines: Before boarding, airlines manually check data related to passports and visas. Another major reason why the passport you provide at arrival should match the one you presented at the gate is that airlines do communicate their passenger list with the immigration officials of the country to which you are traveling.
You should also be aware of:
It is possible for immigration authorities to learn about the passports of other countries since modern passports include biometric data that provides high security.
Regardless of how many countries you have, the place of birth remains the same.
Consular assistance should be sought if you lose your passport from a Commonwealth nation. You can ask a Commonwealth nation for urgent help if the embassy or consulate is not open.
Some nations, including Russia and South Africa, demand notification when a person acquires dual citizenship in another nation.
Countries where you can obtain a second passport
Naturalization is the conventional process for obtaining new citizenship. You must have a job, accommodation, a decent reputation, have lived in the nation for a considerable amount of time, and be well-versed in its history. Some nations that are looking for international investment provide quicker and more practical methods. Different regions of the world have similar programmes in operation.
Investors can obtain:
Maltese citizenship. The naturalization process for excellent services through direct investment is the shortest method to obtain a passport. The process to become a citizen of Malta takes 12 to 36 months.
Portuguese citizenship. If you participate in the investor residence program and invest €280,000 in real estate, you can acquire it in 5 years.
Citizenship in the Caribbean. In about three to five months, you may become a citizen of the Caribbean by making an investment of $100,000 to $400,000.
Vanuatu citizenship. The programme with the fastest processing times and the minimum investment starts at $130,000.
Turkish citizenship.Turkish real estate investments are popular among investors. A property or properties worth a total of $400,000 must be bought.(More Information click here)

ETIAS: Background, Aims & Eligible Countries.
Background:
ETIAS is among the measures undertaken as part of the Security Union. It will also help to achieve the objectives of the "European Agenda on Security" and the "European Agenda on Migration" in particular regarding border management and preventing cross-border crime and terrorism.
The European Commission first introduced the idea of a ETIAS in April 2016 in the convention "Stronger and Smarter Information Systems for Borders and Security" and adopted the proposal on 16 November 2016. After negotiations with the European Parliament and the Council the ETIAS Regulation (EU) 2018/1240 was adopted on 12 September 2018 and entered into force on 9 October 2018.
Aims of ETIAS:
The aim of ETIAS Europe is to provide a more secure journey to EU member countries as well as to strengthen the borders of the Schengen Area by pre-checking the data of travellers before they enter the zone.
The ETIAS visa waiver will allow eligible visitors to enter the Schengen Area for short-term stays of up to 90 days for tourism, transit or business. Travellers can move freely between the Schengen countries as there are no internal hard borders within the zone.

How does the ETIAS system work?
Applicants will need to answer a series of questions by entering basic information such as their name, address, date of birth, and passport details. There will also be some questions regarding health and security.
The information provided by applicants will be screened using relevant security databases. The majority of applications will be processed within minutes though some may take longer.
Once approved, the ETIAS visa waiver will be sent to the applicant electronically. Travellers will be able to present this special travel document when they arrive in the Schengen Area to gain entry.
Why a European travel authorisation?
ETIAS will protect visitors to the Schengen Area as well as European citizens and residents. The online ETIAS application process has been designed to be hassle-free and straightforward, and there will be no need to go to an embassy or consulate.

To be honest I did sign on to peer what might appear and it became this; I were given despatched at once to the cashier web page on Green Capitalz in which I became brought on to make a deposit. I hadn’t even surely installation an account but so this became surely sketchy. Green Capitalz is an unknown broking regulated through the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) withinside the Commonwealth of Dominica. If you believe that regulation… it’s as much as you however regardless, the platform sucks. . . and there isn’t even a robotic or AutoTrader that I can discover so now no longer certain what the entire Trade2 Earn component is all approximately.

The festive green Red-necked Parrot, or Jaco, and the monkish, mountain-dwelling Imperial Parrot are a source of pride for Dominicans. When their populations were at an all-time low in the 1980s, Durand helped launch an amnesty program to reclaim pet parrots for research and education. After the hurricane, he hosted International Fund for Animal Welfare veterinarians who performed surgeries under generator-powered lights. “Goal is to RELEASE back home to their wild habitat!” they wrote on Twitter that February. Four Jacos were set free and aviary staff tended to those still recuperating.
In March Permanent Secretary of Agriculture Reginald Thomas sent a memo to Durand’s boss: “None of the birds being housed at the facility should be released into the wild until further notice.” Durand had an inkling of what this was about. For years he’d been concerned about a group of deep-pocketed European parrot enthusiasts cozying up to island leadership, promising to build capacity “at a local level to better manage the island’s resources,” as they wrote in a 2012 letter. Durand was skeptical. “I had been trying to avoid these people for a long time,” he says.
Led by a German named Martin Gerhard Guth, the Association for the Conservation of Threatened Parrots (ACTP) bills itself as a nonprofit dedicated to protecting endangered parrots and their habitats. Since its founding in 2006, countries, institutions, and people across the Americas have handed over rare birds to ACTP for captive breeding to rebuild populations—including Caribbean Amazons and Spix’s Macaws, which are extinct in the wild. The organization operates a licensed zoo in Germany, and birds are also kept in the personal aviaries of ACTP’s members, who pay $1,100 to join. Surplus parrots that members and zoos don’t want are traded or sold to outside breeders. One ACTP representative, for instance, sells Hyacinth Macaw chicks at his pet shop that can go for around $18,000 apiece. How many birds are bred versus collected or sold nobody knows, because ACTP does not publicly disclose its finances or structure.
When Durand left work that Friday, he told the staff he’d be attending a funeral the next day. After services, Durand got alarming news: The parrots were gone. Several Germans, accompanied by the agriculture minister, extracted the 12 healthiest specimens. The birds were flown to ACTP’s invitation-only zoo outside of Berlin—a place that so zealously guards its flock that visitors aren’t allowed to take photos without permission.
“Rare endangered parrots illegally smuggled from Dominica,” blared one headline. Both Jacos and Imperial Parrots are regulated under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES), but Thomas—a political appointee—approved the export permits without the sign-off from Dominican CITES authorities. Paul Reillo, president of the Florida-based Rare Species Conservatory Foundation, co-organized dozens of conservationists, including Audubon’s international director, Matthew Jeffery, to demand the parrots’ return. “There is a long history of rare Amazon parrots being taken from the Eastern Caribbean to Europe for captive breeding, with the expectation that their progeny will be released,” they wrote in an open letter. “None of these efforts have born[e] fruit.”
It’s no surprise conservationists’ hackles were raised: ACTP has been astoundingly successful at acquiring birds. In 15 years, Guth has helped his 18 breeder members obtain near-monopolies on the world’s rarest parrots. While the group says it breeds these birds for reintroduction efforts, not one offspring has ever been released into the wild and only a small fraction have ever been returned to their countries of origin. The group appears to have abandoned entirely its conservation plans in Mexico, after ACTP members got their hands on the endangered parrots they wanted there. Through ACTP, Guth and his members had effectively created a back channel for trading and breeding endangered parrots within the bounds of increasingly restrictive wildlife laws. And conservation goals, it seemed, had become an afterthought designed to put a sheen of legitimacy on the operation

SAINT OF THE DAY (February 13)
Tumblr media
The Ricci are an ancient family in Tuscany.
Catherine was born at Florence on 23 April 1522. She was called Alexandrina at her baptism, but she took the name of Catherine at her religious profession.
Having lost her mother in her infancy, her father placed her in the Convent of Monticelli, near the gates of Florence, where her aunt, Louisa de Ricci, was a nun when she was between the age of six and seven.
To her, this place was a paradise, but after some years, her father took her home.
Attracted to the religious life and with the consent of her father, she received the religious veil in the convent of Dominicanesses at Prat, Tuscany, in the year 1535 at fourteen years of age.
For two years, she suffered inexpressible pains under a complication of violent distempers, which remedies only seemed to increase.
These sufferings she sanctified by the interior disposition with which she bore them and which she nourished by assiduous meditation on the passion of Christ.
The victory over herself and purgation of her affections was completed by a perfect spirit of prayer.
For by the union of her soul with God and the establishment of the absolute reign of his love in her heart, she was dead to and disengaged from all earthly things.
The saint was first chosen, when very young, as mistress of the novices, then sub-prioress and, in the twenty-fifth year of her age, was appointed as perpetual prioress.
The reputation of her extraordinary sanctity and prudence drew her many visits from a great number of bishops, princes, and cardinals.
Among them, Cardinals Cervini, Alexander of Medicis, and Aldobrandini, who all three were afterwards raised to St. Peter's chair under the names of Marcellus II, Clement VIII, and Leo XI.
Most wonderful were the raptures of St. Catherine in meditating on the passion of Christ, which was her daily exercise, but to which she totally devoted herself every week from Thursday noon to three o'clock in the afternoon on Friday.
After a long illness, she passed from this mortal life to everlasting bliss and possession of the object of all her desires on the feast of the Purification of Our Lady, on 2 February 1589, the sixty-seventh year of her age.
The ceremony of her beatification was performed by Clement XII on 23 November 1732 and that of her canonization by Benedict XIV on 29 June 1746.

WORLD LITERATURE
Tumblr media
World literature is used to refer to a literature being circulated outside the country where it was published, and it’s pretty sure that everyone nowadays is very familiar with literature, because, who isn’t? People these days lives their daily lives with literature, surely, it surrounds our lives. Ever wonder if there’s an occurrence one day in our life, a day without literature? Will we able to live with it? Well, I don’t think so, after all, literature is our life. Now, before we go to the topic, lets have a brief introduction about when did the literature began.
The literature began early before 17th century, and ever since that time, it had a big impact from all over the world, it almost had taken up the whole world, a world of literature, indeed. And since the literature continues to expand, its dominant themes and styles of each literature around the world, expands, as well. And of course, up until today, there are still many more surprising notions about the literature all over the world!
Today, I’ll show you different dominant themes and styles of literature from Southeast Asia, East Asia, South and West Asia, Anglo-America and Europe, Africa, and Latin America. I hope that in the end, you’ll learn something new about the different themes and styles from around the world.
Tumblr media
1.       SOUTHEAST ASIA LITERATURE
Southeast Asia consists of 11 countries in total, these are Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. All of these countries were colonized by the other countries, except Thailand, that’s why most of their literary works were mostly influenced by the countries who colonized them. Just like in the Philippines,  The Philippines were colonized by the Spaniards, Japanese, and Americans; however most of the literature here in the Philippines were predominantly influenced by the Spaniards for they colonized the country for 333 years.
The Southeast Asian literature’s dominant theme are mainly diaspora (diasporic) theme. Diasporic theme focuses on stories outside the country where the writer is, it also talks about the experiences of an immigrant in a foreign country. Some example of a diasporic theme literature is “Banyaga: A song of War” by Charlson Ong, the story is about how Ernesto (protagonist) struggles living outside the country he came from, and fun fact, the author Charlson Ong’s relation with the main character is that they shared the same experiences! It’s like the author tells his very own life story in the presence of Ernesto as the character. “Banyaga: A Song of War” as well, portrays the Filipino culture, as the author being half Filipino.
Tumblr media
2.       East Asia Literature
East Asia consists of 8 countries in total, these are China, Japan, South Korea, North Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Mongolia, and Macao. Without a doubt, East Asia is the most popular region in the whole world because of the countries it consists of. Mainly, the East Asia literature were mostly influenced by the Chinese writers; commonly, the China is the building block of the counties in the East Asia, on a fact that most of the East Asia country were colonized by the Chinese. With all of the 8 countries, the Chines and Japanese literature is the most prominent among the East Asia literature.
However, the Japanese literature has a different style, too. Their literature is mostly fond of ambiguous theme, wherein it has a deep meaning and sometimes, the reader wouldn’t get the meaning of it if you are from other countries or city in Japan. The Japanese literature is also well-known for its Haiku and Tanka poems.
Some example of the East Asia literature is Seol Gongchan-jeon (The Tale of Seol Gongchan), korean literature written by Chae Su, the novel was written during the early Joseon era and was originally written in classical Chinese text. The story of said novel is about a person being possessed by the dead spirit who tells story from the underworld. But, the said novel was banned during its era of publication.
Other example of the East Asia literature is a Tanka poem from the Japanese literature. Tanka poems are mostly commonly written as an expression of love and/or gratitude, it may, as well a self-reflection poem.
Narukami no sukoshi toyomite
(A faint clap of thunder)
sashi kumori
     (Clouded skies)
Ame mo furanu ka?
     (Perhaps rain comes)
Kimi wo todomemu
(If so, will you stay here with me?)
Narukami no sukoshi toyomite
     (A faint clap of thunder)
furazu to mo
     (Even if rain comes not)
warewa tomaramu
     (I will stay here)
imoshi todomeba
     (Together with you)
Tumblr media
3.       South and West Asia Literature
The South and West Asia consists of 17 countries, mostly the Middle East region, these countries are Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Cyprus, Georgia, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. Apparently, the South and West Asia is commonly known for their own films, “Bollywood” rather than other literature. However, they do, of course have a unique styles and themes of literature.
Literature from the 21st Century Middle East circumscribes a lot assortments of genres, it, as well talks about human experiences oftentimes through a realist manners. Also, what makes their literature unique is that they have or includes their own traditions and practices of their culture.
One example of South and West Asia Literature is “White Tiger” a novel written by an Indian author named Aravin Adiga. It talks about the life of an Indian in the light and darkness, although most part of the novel focusses on India of darkness.  Also, the novel has a darkly humorous perspective of Indian’s struggles in life.  Here’s some excerpt from the novel “The White Tiger”
“In fact, each time when great men like you visit our country I say it. Not that I have anything against great men. In my way, sir, I consider myself one of your kind. But whenever I see our prime minister and his distinguished sidekicks drive to the airport in black cars and get out and do namastes before you in front of a TV camera and tell you about how moral and saintly India is, I have to say that thing in English.”
Tumblr media
4.       Anglo-America and Europe Literature
The Anglo-America is a large region that covers up 14 countries in total, these are Canada, United States, Belize, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, Guyana, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago. And as we all know, Europe is a large continent that consists a lot of countries, well, we’ll not go to far with mentioning all those countries. The Anglo-American literature is closely linked to traditional English, since the American was colonized by the English, they adapted their literature, as well and was influenced by the English writers. However, the history of their literature is too wide, it covers up from the Old English until the Contemporary era.
In spite of that Anglo- American combined literature, the American literature is imposing to be separated to the Anglo (English), but why? The American literature has a distinct characteristic which evolves through eras and such; them, too have their own unique feature, themes, and styles of literature. In short, they have their own, so, for them, what is the essences of being together with the Anglo?
One of the greatest author in the Anglo-America is who we all know, William Shakespeare. With his one of the famous works “Romeo and Juliet” we can mirror the traditional style of Anglo-America literature that somewhat related to their culture, as well. Here’s some excerpt from the classic story “Romeo and Juliet”.
”’Tis but thy name that is my enemy;
Thou art thyself, though not a Montague.
What’s Montague? it is nor hand, nor foot,
Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part
Belonging to a man. O! be some other name:
]What’s in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;
So Romeo would, were he not Romeo call’d,
Retain that dear perfection which he owes
Without that title. Romeo, doff
 thy name;
And for that name, which is no part of thee,
Take all myself”
On the other hand, European literature includes writing for some dialects; among the most significant of the cutting edge composed works are those in English, Spanish, French, Dutch, Polish, German, Italian, Modern Greek, Czech and Russian and works by the Scandinavians and Irish. Significant old style and archaic customs are those in Ancient Greek, Latin, Old Norse, Medieval French and the Italian Tuscan tongue of the renaissance. Moreover, the literature was written with regards to Western culture in the dialects of Europe, as a few topographically or verifiably related dialects. Various as they seem to be, European literature, as Indo-European dialects, are portions of a typical legacy having a place with a race of pleased countries which brag any semblance of Homer who composed Iliad and Odyssey, Virgil who composed the Aeneid, Dante who composed Divine Comedy, Chaucer who composed Canterbury Tales. These, and other abstract works of art structure part of what we call as Western Canon.
Tumblr media
 5.       African Literature
The Africa consists of 54 countries in total, however, the African literature has a unique theme and styles. Their literature often to be relevant to its colonial background, and also connected to their traditions and culture, which makes their literature more unique. In addition, their literatures are often known as subversive and expressive contents.
Moreover, oral and composed narrating conventions have had an equal turn of events, and from multiple points of view they have affected one another. Old Egyptian recorders, early Hausa and Swahili copyists and memorizers, and contemporary scholars of famous novellas have been the conspicuous and essential momentary figures in the development from oral to abstract customs. What occurred among the Hausa and Swahili was happening somewhere else in Africa—among the Fulani, in northern Ghana among the Guang, in Senegal among the Tukulor and Wolof, and in Madagascar and Somalia.
One of the most famous African novel is entitled “Things Fall Apart” written by Chinua Achebe, Things Fall Apart exhaustively envisions how the Nigerian Igbo people group worked preceding expansionism. The divisions in this network go with the deplorable fall of the legend, Okonkwo, whose chivalrous however careless remain against expansionism closes in a forlorn self-destruction. Achebe's astuteness is adequate to move perusers past recriminations or authentic fault, since the Igbo people group adjusts to oblige Christianity and new types of pioneer administration. Similarly as the novel's title cites Yeats' sonnet The Second Coming, Achebe's African way of thinking of equilibrium in everything runs after a millennial association with Western innovation. Here’s some excerpt from the novel “Things Fall Apart”
“The drums beat and the flutes sang and the spectators held their breath. Amalinze was a wily craftsman, but Okonkwo was as slippery as a fish in water. Every nerve and every muscle stood out on their arms, on their backs and their thighs, and one almost heard them stretching to breaking point. In the end, Okonkwo threw the Cat”
Tumblr media
6.       Latin American Literature
The Latin America is generally consists of all the countries in South America, in addition to Mexico, Central America, and the Islands of the Caribbean, indeed, there’s also a lot of country in the Latin America region. The Latin American mostly adapted their literature from the Aztecs and Mayans, two of the great ancient civilizations of our world, also, the themes of their literature are usually characterized by mysticism, magic, uniqueness, raw creativity, and wonder. Them, too give way and introduced “magical realism”.
Magical realism is a classification of writing that portrays this present reality as having a propensity of sorcery or dream. Mystical authenticity is a piece of the authenticity classification of fiction. Inside a work of supernatural authenticity, the world is as yet grounded in reality, however fantastical components are viewed as ordinary in this world. It is different from what we know “fantasy”.
One example of a magical realism novel is ”House of Spirits(La casa de los Espíritus)” written by Isabel Allende. The novel was published in 1982, Isabel Allende's presentation novel narratives the violent political occasions of post provincial Chile, through the lives of four ages of the rich Trueba family. The extraordinary is available from the start, with Allende portraying the supernatural capacities of one of the novel's principle heroes, Clara. Expect ghosts blended into the consistently, time shifts in the story and signs being figured it out. A genuine show-stopper, of the sorcery authenticity classification, yet additionally of women's activist and Chilean writing. Here’s some excerpt from the novel ”House of Spirits(La casa de los Espíritus)”
“That was Marcos’s longest trip. He returned with a shipment of enormous boxes that were piled in the far courtyard, between the chicken coop and the woodshed, until the winter was over. At the first signs of spring he had them transferred to the parade grounds, a huge park where people would gather to watch the soldiers file by on Independence Day, with the goosestep they had learned from the Prussians. When the crates were opened, they were found to contain loose bits of wood, metal, and painted cloth. Marcos spent two weeks assembling the contents according to an instruction manual written in English, which he was able to decipher thanks to his invincible imagination and a small dictionary. When the job was finished, it turned out to be a bird of prehistoric dimensions, with the face of a furious eagle, wings that moved, and a propeller on its back.”
With all of that, it may be seem that different regions from the world has their very own unique way in terms of literature, all of the literature around the world is really fascinating and amazing. Now that I’ve shown you the different dominant themes and styles of literature from Southeast Asia, East Asia, South and West Asia, Anglo-America and Europe, Africa, and Latin America. I hope that you’ve  learned something new and surprising thing about the different themes and styles from around the world!
