Quebec's justice minister is blaming the Court of Quebec for procedural delays causing a slew of dropped criminal cases in Nunavik and Abitibi-Témiscamingue.
On Thursday, Simon Jolin-Barrette reacted to a report in La Presse that 126 cases had been dropped in the two regions since March.
On the sidelines of a Coalition Avenir Quebec caucus retreat, Jolin-Barrette said he is not happy with the situation.
"My first thought is for the victims, I don't like it," he said.

soo I haven't been posting much about law recently, and I want to start again by talking about something simple: what's the difference between civil and criminal law cases?
civil cases involve a claimant and a defendant (it can also be applicant/petitioner v. respondent, they are exactly what they mean. to those who are new, 'v.' simply refers to versus. in simple words, the main goal of civil cases is to sue or apply for remedies
criminal cases involve R (Rex, Regina: Latin for King and Queen/DPP: Director of Public Prosecution/AG: Attorney General) and the Defendant (aka the accused). their goal is to prosecute or punish offenders and to protect society!
sound simple enough, right? I hope you learned something today :)

Hi to all,
Because of some news I have had from my wife and collaborator Anne Pangolin Guéno (The Soft Pangolin), disappeared the 28/08/2 021, YWAMag will function for an indefinite time with variations of presence. For the ones interested and who can read French, I have started explaining all these news little by little on Facebook - they are of the most serious character. Basile Pesso - YWAMag director

🦴Written in bone
Sue Black
🦴🦴🦴🦴🦴(out of five)
🦴Favorite bone: Phalanges
🦴Least favorite bone: Jaw
🦴Quote: “Perhaps art might succeed where life has failed: by scoring a victory over decay through the persistence of beauty.”
🦴Format: e-book.
This book was written by a forensic anthropologist. She explains each of the bones, or at least in groups with their function, and at the same time, she tells you one, or several, criminal cases or stories from her investigations that focus specifically on said bone or set of bones.
The bones she hates the most are the ones in the foot, haha.
I loved it; I really liked the description of criminal cases, how anthropology helps to solve murders and the author, having a PhD, explains things in a very simple and funny way.
Criminal law is my jam, so it was not difficult for me to understand, but I deeply believe that even if you are not an expert on the subject, it is very easy to understand and like it, but keep in mind that it is quite scientific and not only about cases and mysteries.

Hollywood's Silent Secrets - The Unsolved Case of William Desmond Taylor
Welcome to "The Real Crime Diary," where we explore the most intriguing and high-profile criminal cases from across the Americas. Could the glittering lights of early Hollywood be casting long shadows of secrets and intrigue? Join us as we peel back the curtain on the unsolved murder of William Desmond Taylor, a silent film director whose life was as enigmatic as his death. We follow Taylor's remarkable transformation from an Irish immigrant to a cowboy, and finally, to a heralded director who shaped the silent film era. Alongside our guest expert, we navigate the paradox of Taylor's world, where success and glamour clashed with a dark underbelly, leading to an untimely demise that perplexes us nearly a century later. As the spotlight dims on Taylor's legacy, we turn our attention to the suspects who walked the peripheries of his life. From the young starlet Mary Miles Minter and her formidable mother Charlotte Shelby to the troubled comedic actress Mabel Normand, each character seems to have stepped out of a Hollywood script, bringing with them a tangle of motives and opportunities. We scrutinize the bungled LAPD investigation, marred by a compromised crime scene and vanishing evidence, that has left armchair detectives puzzling over the case for decades. With each narrative twist, our conversation deepens, inviting you to contemplate a riddle that continues to haunt the annals of film history. Thank you for tuning in to The Real Crime Diary. Stay vigilant and informed by following us on: for more true-crime stories and updates. Join our community to engage in discussions and access exclusive content. Pictured above is Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR). Since 2020, he has falsely represented himself as a spokesperson for our parent company, Civil Society; and various divisions of Civil Society, including The Capitol Radar, The Moab Mercury, Harper Collins Publishers and its imprints.
As a result, we have 15 open cases against him. Nine of those are criminal cases.
If you foster these fraudulent claims, we will sue you in civil court, and press the relevant criminal charges as well.
