Square Enix has announced Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam). It will launch in 2025.

Following the release of Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake on November 14, 2024, Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake will continue the classic RPG trilogy’s narrative, offering players two adventures to undertake in Dragon Quest I and Dragon Quest II. Chronologically, Dragon Quest I and Dragon Quest II follow the events of Dragon Quest III.

Further details were not announced.

I finally finished my six part tribute to beating all of the odd numbered Dragon Quest games.

When I first decided to dive into the franchise, I was intimidated by the number of games, so playing this specific set felt like a good compromise.

Obviously, l've already started playing the even numbered games too!

I love this franchise, and my absolute favorite is definitely DQ9!!

I did mention it offhand but I was going through the Dragon Quest series recently. I beat the first two games on NES and got curious as to what the SNES remakes were like.

And man, was the SNES version of DQ1 ten times easier in comparison.

It was easy enough that I genuinely beat it in one setting and at max level. In comparison, the NES version took me like one or two days, and only after I gave up grinding at around level 20.

I haven't played DQ2 SNES yet, but I'm assuming it'll be a similar case. The endgame of 2 had a huge difficulty spike (apparently due to a lack of beta testing?), so I'm wondering how much of it will be nerfed in the remake...
