dw10 should go back to the roots and maybe make gan nings and ling tongs designs the opposites of each other again. like in 5 they went with wild half naked and lowkey unkept for gan ning and showing very little skin and being super neat and modest for ling tong

theyre doing well for ling tong (except dw6, which was also bad for gan ning with the weird ass armor, and then strikeforce was questionable) and every time they make gan ning wear something on top someone cries. but like 7 and 8 were pretty good with this and 9 is probably my most fav ling tong design (its ever changing) but gan nings i cant choose they all have something i dont like but 5 7 and 8 are great

also a sun and moon contrast would be cool but i also like them being the same instead. if that makes sense. i dont know what i want man like i love the contrasting differences but i also fucking love their matching dlc outfits for dw9

it's also quite fascinating that i never really understood what the wizards were capable of doing until Sourcery.

Like yeah sure, Tymon assassinated the Archchancellor and let a dungeon dimension demon posses him in The Light Fantastic; yeah they summoned Death regularly in the first 4 books; yes, Granny Weatherwax and Archancellor Cutangle had a power showdown in DW3 Equal Rites

but i never really understood the scope of what their magic could truly do till the Great Wizard War of DW5

Mainly it's because we were introduced to Rincewind first lol. Rincewind really set the tone for a lot of the wizards of the Unseen University lol. Him being the most unsuccessful wizard who uses his wits and other real world skills first really made us think that wizards are allowed to be not all that great and powerful (in the normal way) compared to what the more popular wizard/sorcerer-centric media are like.

Discovery of three faint, distant galaxies may expand knowledge of early universe The discovery of the faintest known galaxies beyond the neighborhood of the Milky Way could help scientists develop universal models for how the universe’s oldest galaxies formed, according to findings announced Jan. 11 at the 241st meeting of the American Astronomical Society. A team of researchers led by Burçin Mutlu-Pakdil, now an assistant professor of physics and astronomy at Dartmouth College, identified three ultra-faint dwarf galaxies (UFDs) that are among the faintest galaxies discovered outside of the Local Group, the clustering of galaxies that includes the Milky Way and Andromeda. Located roughly 11.4 million light years from Earth, the galaxies are estimated to be 12 billion years old, with nearly all their stars having formed in the early universe, the researchers reported in The Astrophysical Journal. The galaxies are the first UFDs to be found around a spiral galaxy with a mass of the Milky Way, orbiting a galaxy known as NGC253, or the Sculptor Galaxy. Yet, their characteristics are consistent with UFDs within the Local Group, which could help scientists develop more accurate models of UFDs overall. Most known examples of UFDs are within the Local Group, but different environments can affect their formation and evolution, Mutlu-Pakdil said. “Our work is the necessary first step toward further understanding the faintest galaxies beyond the Local Group, and toward more robustly constraining the demographics of ultra-faint dwarf galaxies,” Mutlu-Pakdil said. “We still do not know whether the Local Group UFDs are typical or unusual. To answer this fundamental question, we need to discover more UFDs beyond our local environment and study them in detail.” UFDs are the least luminous and least chemically evolved galaxies known. Yet, they are the most dominated by dark matter, which is the mysterious form of matter thought to constitute most of the universe. For these reasons, astronomers consider UFDs to be pristine fossils of the early universe that could provide the best opportunities for studying the composition of the universe and the formation of its first galaxies. “Dwarf galaxies are the building blocks of larger galaxies,” Mutlu-Pakdil said. “UFDs are the best place to study galaxy formation on the smallest scales and learn how the smallest dark matter clumps get populated with stars and turn into galaxies.” The paper, “Hubble Space Telescope Observations of NGC 253 Dwarf Satellites: Three Ultra-faint Dwarf Galaxies,” was published by The Astrophysical Journal Feb. 10, 2022. I need to get another copy of Samurai Warriors 2 because the more I play Dynasty Warriors 5, the more I'm thinking that Samurai Warriors 2 was superior in most ways. But at the same time it's been well over a decade since I played it (I had to get rid of my copy for weird reasons that I won't go into) so it's possible that I would be more critical of it were I to come back to it now.

From what I remember, the cutscenes, the voice acting, the story telling, the pronunciation (like in Samurai Warriors 2 they really were trying to get everything right and put a lot of effort into it, meanwhile they didn't really start doing that in Dynasty Warriors until dw7, one of the most 😬 things about going back to older dw games is hearing everyone call Cao Cao 'cow cow'), the characterization... They all blow dw5 out of the water. Dw5's gameplay is satisfying so I'll save comparing that aspect to sw2 once I've given it another go. Though I did have the original Warriors Orochi, and overall no particular side felt more fun to me then the other.

I’m also realizing as I watch these Dynasty Warriors cutscenes how much my taste in the factions have changed as much as I myself has.

Wu used to be my favorite in the early because of the ‘family values’ they stood for(also because they wear my favorite color leave me alone I was a kid then).

 Then I started favoring Shu in DW5-6 because they were the ‘good guys’, the most down to earth people with the biggest bunch of teddy bears leading them(one that is just a teddy bear & then two others that will kill you but are still super huggable). 

Now I favorite Wei-Jin because I level with the idea of to win in an age of war you have to have strength & the willingness to do terrible things, sometimes even straight out traditor-ist things, for a greater ideal(basically they appeal to my new found realist side), & they all have a super anti-hero vibe that I adore.

DW has seen me go through all kinds of different phases in my life.

my own personal rankings for dw games ive played (not including any of the empires spinoffs). im sorry i know none of you care but youre gonna hear about it anyways

1: dw6 - literally the best in every way ill die on this hill. only complaint is that its where they took away diaochans maces and gave her a whip and ill never forgive them for that one. they also briefly gave zhenji a whip iirc but they put it back in dw7 and thank god for that

2: dw8: second best writing in the whole series and very enjoyable all around. loved the multiple scenario options you could unlock that were like history changing alterations to route, very tasty, very satisfying. spent Far too much time in the alt gameplay mode.

3: dw5 - a classic, the one i spent the most time playing as a kid. the sound effect that cues a cutscene start is going to be burned into me for life i think. like every single characters designs peaked here

5: orochi warriors 3 - yes it counts yes ive only played the third edition. it slayed tho. fun as hell and fun writing. based around the same era as 8 so its thriving

6: dw9 - has its merits and charm at times but it is not very good objectively. open world was a choice that unfortunately forced a cut of a lot of iconic playable things in older games maps. ive liked a number of things i can do in it but i do not think i would reccomend it to anyone unless they were Very dedicated to seeing a specific scenario of a character. but i DO like being able to fuck around aimlessly in the wilderness when im not in the mood to fight things. photo mode is fun too. :).

7: dw1 - kisses this thing softly. i dont think i remember a single detail about playing it aside from basically only playing as daqiao
