I FINALLY FINISHED MY FUCKING STOCKINGS!!!

they could do with a wash now, but after doing half the clocks in the wrong shade of white because I was only working on it at night after work and couldn't tell the difference in my shitty lighting, then the entire city being apparently out of white embroidery floss so I had to order it online, then getting distracted finishing a shirt in time for an outing I didn't even end up wearing it to, THEY'RE FINALLY DONE!!

made out of a cotton knit and embroidery thread, entirely hand sewn <3 I started them in... mid-October I think? it took me a while to cobble a pattern together from a few different sources, then I made a couple of mockups from scrap cotton and an old tshirt to prove it all at least fit together. then I made them out of the proper fabric, racing to just get them in one piece in time for a closet halloween costume. that led to a bunch of alterations: taking in most of the seams, bringing the hem way down, and reshaping the ankle and knee so they didn't bunch up so badly. then, of course, the aforementioned white floss shortage (seriously, wtf). but FINALLY..... THEY'RE DONE......

now i just gotta........... make the rest of the suit................. >.>

He's always kept a keen eye out for details but the day was just so exhausting. He pulled up at a house to work on the roof and barely even glanced up at the owner of it. He just half-heartedly listened to the commands and then got to work. You came out occasionally to make small talk, but he didn't focus too much on your voice and tried to keep a steady mind. It was only until you came out with cookies and lemonade that he saw you for the first time. A dX, which is to say a die with the right number of sides for the situation. It can be rolled to bend your own luck, but if you roll poorly the luck stays bad from that point on.

A pair of fuzzy dice marked with Roman numerals, which reek of artificial cherry, and will return one's sense of taste and smell if lost, to their immediate dismay.

A d20, translucent pale pink flecked with gold, with a miniature skull suspended within. It cares less about success than satisfying narrative arcs, so perhaps not the die to pull out when making a real-world decision.

A second d20, possibly crafted by the same hand, this one a deep, shimmering crimson. Much like the previous, this one has a profound sense of drama, to the extent that it will consistently roll 1 or 20 where it would change the course of the story, and sulkily roll 10 after 10 for anything less.

A set of purple polyhedral dice, numbers all gilded and in a font so curling and fanciful it's hard to decipher. They give a persistent vibe of being intensely, even dangerously, magical. And yet they don't appear to actually do anything, as far as we can determined, to the point where I wonder if the enchantment upon them is simply to create this aura.

A 'mostly harmless' pair of six sided dice, the frosted aquamarine of seaglass. Their chief fault is that they prefer to be the only dice used, and will moodily roll low if any others are thrown beside them.

And good measure, another set of polyhedral dice, this one cut of labradorite and left with me 'as a good deed'. If they do anything, I could not find it, but if I am to believe the one who gave it to me, it is positive if it exists. And if they do nothing at all, they're still very pretty.

Yoooo that little look exchanged between Wukong and Macaque after he sends out the hairs, these guys are totally back in sync again like nothing happened and I LOVE it!

Again, the teasing-the-younger-cousin behavior with them double faking Nezha was so on point, and his angry "WU KOOONG!!" was just the icing on the cake.

honestly, soda was hoping you’d be quick so you’d come to the register faster.

and luckily, you were.

grabbed your favourite drink and chips and you were done!

you walked to the register where you seen a really, really, cute dude working there.

“heyy!! is this all?”

“yeah.”

he asked—way to cheery for a job as a cash register in a place with no air conditioning.

when he finished ringing you up, you pulled out your wallet.

Guys guys guys, I have an idea for my next birthday, a theme in the style of finding the murderer but medieval, an interactive play AND ALSO the protagonists are Futturman, Derek, Mike, Clapton and Billy. Josh finds the TTD again, so he goes to show the group that is sitting on the couch, Clapton starts to fiddle with the buttons and accidentally sends them to the hierarchical medieval era in a Hispanic country, they appear at the birthday of the daughter of the kings WHO at the same time are getting divorced (my parents still can't get divorced seriously dx) at the same party, the problem is that a murderer wants to kill the princess (me) by poisoning her, leading the protagonists to interact with the guests who are villagers and merchants, the problem is that no one in the group speaks Spanish. In all of this there would be exchanges and sales, each table has a single bag of 10 gold coins (actually chocolate coins to add difficulty because my little cousins ​​are going to want to eat them and they are going to bankrupt the table Xd), and a bag for each guest where there is a card with their role and objects that will help them fulfill it, some objects are interchangeable between tables, and a single bag will contain the role of the murderer along with the poison (lemon juice, pure with coloring). The group can interact with the guests, whether by stealing, trading or socializing, since reputation is going to be important, as will the guests with each other. These comments seemed to deviate a bit from my “villainous Magolor” post where I discovered them but they also inspired me, so I’ll go with it and deviate some more on the topic of the “villainous friends”...

Now, personally, I've never seen the Mage Sisters as all that heroic. I mean, I adore them. I don't doubt for a second they're part of the good guys "now" but heroic? They're still wearing their evil cult (cough) "religious" uniforms! I imagine all three of them still lean a little hard on the "murder is okay!" side of things.

They helped because they had a reason to help. But are they still going to have “goat sacrifice Tuesdays” for a while? ...Possibly! (It could just be me, but I do think it's hilarious when the entire Jamba gang continue to be blatant worshippers of a dark god while chilling with the rest of the cast.)

I do think that this topic is nearing the core of why my feelings on Magolor have been in flux since DX. I’m happy for him to have a redemption arc, but I really don’t want to see him de-fanged...? I never did write that translation comparison post, but I’m endlessly thankful to the English translation for the “I just want to hear everyone scream...” :pause: “...with laughter!” exchange because it at least shows that Magolor has an unusually grim sense of humor, as opposed to him being a wholly innocent victim of the Crown. 

(Obviously, he did what he did in RtDL. No one’s questioning that. They wouldn’t name a song “Atone for One’s Misdeeds” otherwise. But I am concerned about the implications that the Crown was manipulating him from the moment he landed on Halcandra. Manager Magolor is fun and all, and while I don’t want to have a “Magolor is still the bad guy lol” Kirby Light Novel situation, I hope the sussy wizard stays somewhat sussy down the line.)

Anyway, the long and short of it is my love of gray morality characters is why I fell in love with so many of them and why I try to write all the former-antagonistic Dream Friends as still being in possession of a few villain traits. I really don't want to see anyone "brainwashed into being good" or must-always-be-on-their-best-behavior now. I want to see these flawed individuals make nice but flawed, characterful decisions.

I want the three Mage Sisters to occasionally each say really messed up things in a blithe way without realizing why said thing is weird. I want Susie to think she can solve most things in life by throwing enough money and science at them. I want Taranza to openly white-knight his beloved tyrant queen and naively blink his eight eyes over the awful things he did in her name. 

I want Magolor to engage in shady business practices with a smile and a wink, walking away while counting his cash. I want Dark Meta Knight to whole-heartedly believe murder is a "reasonable" option to most everyday situations. I want Daroach to casually purloin the cast's possessions when they're not specifically watching him, just because he can. I want Marx to break into loud hysterical laughter when someone trips and falls or breaks a plate.

The Dream Friends might as well be 10 different colored Waddle Dees if we expected them to all act good and peaceful and harmless all the time.

I just wanted to say though, @icedragonlizard​, I don’t know what kind of convos are going on outside my own little space on the internet, but I think people really aren’t as upset or /neg about Susie as they used to be.

There are maybe a few holdouts out there - I wouldn’t know as I don’t really go searching - but you’ll most likely never change those peoples’ minds and its best just to ignore them while shoring up a space for yourself where people aren’t attacking your blorbos just to get a reaction out of you or to spew unhappiness everywhere.

(PS: I recently learned I had been drawing both Susie and Taranza quite off-model! Her helmet actually goes down way longer than I thought, less of a “headband” and more like a metal boudoir cap. And Taranza’s lowest set of hands start at the middle of his body and go up toward his head. I thought I remembered them as starting at his waist and going down instead. Oops!)

Closing thoughts on Precure All Stars Movie DX: Minna Tomodachi☆Kiseki no Zenin Daishuugou!

I thought it was time for a little Precure break after making it through Splash Star, but then I realised that I had some unfinished business left since now I had seen all the seasons for the first crossover movie.

The story and character side was pretty weak this time, but to be fair I don't really know what else could have been done, like what would you do if you had to tell a story with 14 human and 13 mascot characters in 70 minutes so that everyone gets to do something? The setup had a lot of repetitive scenes when each team met the bad guy on their own and had a little fight with him and then chatted with the wrong team's mascots a bit, and in the end nobody (even the Fresh girls as the most recent team) got any actually meaningful character moments. Character interactions were about what you'd expect, everyone was instantly friends with everyone and all the exchanges felt pretty samey. And the light sticks were of course a thing yet again.

However the film had some really good action and nice shots, and especially Nagisa and Honoka got a cool entrance to the final fight. Everyone fighting against an army of monsters was sufficiently impressive and the final explosion did its job. The best part of the movie was how during the end credits there were shots of the all Cures just hanging out and having fun together.

That was pretty whiny but then again if I was a 7-year-old Precure fan I probably would have found this a very exciting film, with all the Precures teaming up together for an epic battle, so I think it achieved what it tried to do. But my recommendation is still to skip the movie and just watch the credits if you're even half as cynical as I am.

Okay so we of course know Dani = Utena, VR-LA = Anthy. Starting with my strongest choices then going on in no particular order:

Roy is our Wakaba. He has to be. Roy fucking tackling Dani nearly sending both of them tumbling into the courtyard?? Dani initially joining in on the duels over his honor not knowing what the fuck she's truly getting herself into??? Roy being jealous over how much time she spends with VR-LA now???? The Black Rose Arc??????? It's so good It's So Good!!!

For my next strongest choice: MR-SN as Dios. Obviously. If I'm fucking with the theming to be less about gender roles and more about class/caste roles (as is the case when I've changed the 'because you're a girl' line into 'because you are nothing') then of course MR-SN needs to be the image of The Perfect Self-Made Captain In Charge.

However: the situation with Dios vs Akio is weird. Because everyone from Akio and Dios themselves to the visual language the show uses present the two of them as two completely separate people, and Anthy and her brother are clearly not mortal humans. Anthy has been suffering constantly for long enough that the event that started this and the folk tale version of the event passed down culturally bear next to no resemblance to one another. So we could frame it as Dios and Akio being different aspects of the same conceptual being. Dios died in the same way Pan greek god of the wild died. He's dead because people say he is, but he can never be gone forever. In Dios's case, he has been replaced by a version of himself that 'grew up' and 'lost his nobility'. He's still Anthy's older brother, but he is not Dios.

We're gonna make the call that they're to be represented by different characters and have DX-TR be Akio, mainly for his connection to VR-LA and the fact that he canonically killed Dani once.

I'm choosing a Nanami next because she's my favorite. Davion is our Nanami. Because think about it: Nanami is introduced lashing out at Anthy because Anthy is valued and coveted by the world and has the attention and (as far as Nanami can tell) affection of her older brother who Nanami sees as her whole world. It's infuriatingly unfair to her that Anthy would be (from Nanami's point of view) constantly rewarded with adoration and protection for what Nanami intuitively clocks as an act. Even if it's a 'there's no way, she's too good to be true' kind of impulse, she is right! Anthy performs this perfect feminine damsel image that everyone defines her by, and Nanami cannot fucking stand that seemingly everyone values Anthy over Nanami for ~performing well~. Anthy gets everything just for being fake and that's just not fair! What kind of vampiric freak does that on purpose??

If we are changing the themes to be about class roles and meritocracy instead of gender roles, of course Davion would make an excellent Nanami, because VR-LA himself says 'Competence is not a good look on you, Davion' in canon and he just fuckin' takes it. But what if he had reason to Fucking Hate VR-LA For It? Think of the drama: Davion calling VR-LA captain as a dig because they both know that's not his real station and VR-LA smiling back at him in that unsettling way Anthy smiles at Nanami. Davion realizing Dani is special for some ephemeral reason he doesn't understand despite knowing for a fact she's lower on the totem pole that him and VR-LA, and he shouldn't be bothered by the things she says and does But He Is! Davion being constantly suspicious of both of them yet constantly hovering around them trying to understand.

Another fun casting: Cassimere as Sayoji. Top notch I'd say. Do I even need to explain this one? The exchange diary scenes alone would be fucking hysterical, and the scene of Anthy fully dropping the way she used to speak to Sayonji but with VR-LA and Cassimere? Perfection.

If Cassimere is Sayonji, I would then posit K-LB as Touga and I know that's horribly cursed and their personalities aren't even a little similar, but like think about it: K-LB and Dani interacting with the leadership and ownership they're aiming for in wildly different ways the same way Touga and Utena interact with the idea of masculinity and princeliness in ways that cause them to clash yet that they both almost understand one another over. K-LB being close to DX-TR because DX-TR has promised him the way to view 'something eternal'. K-LB winning VR-LA and chatting with him all chipper-like asking him some of the same questions he's seen Dani ask him and getting different answers. K-LB trying one last time to make some kind of executive decision over Dani and VR-LA at the end, begging them not to listen to End of the World and Dani Just Not Trusting Him. I love it. Tastey drama.

I'm making Elyse, Love and Finbar my Shiori, Ruka, and Juri respectively. This feels really mean to Specifically Elyse but also the three of them would be So Fucking Good for this??? I promise, I promise it's a good idea. I'm so sorry Elyse.

Wrestlemania Main Event Reviews - Wrestlemania XX

Chris Benoit def. Shawn Michaels and Triple H (c) for the World Heavyweight Championship in 24:03

Not really looking forward to this one because Chris Benoit is a monster and I don’t want to really talk about him, but I will focus on the wrestling side of things for review purposes. Sorry if this entry is a tad dry without any fun notes or lyrical flair.

HBK is out first and the red gear is reminiscent of his gear against Stone Cold at Wrestlemania. Benoit out next, and then HHH to a chorus of boos. Hebner checks each wrestler as the tension builds. Benoit and HBK fight over who attacks HHH first as both have a gripe with him. Brutal chops back and forth between the two and HHH gets sent outside as they fight. Technical exchange between the two and various pinning combinations, with bridging out, rollups and a bridging suplex. HHH comes back in, throwing HBK out but he skins the cat and as he throws Benoit that way, HBK throws him out as the two former DX men square off. Big backdrop from HBK and more knife edge chops. HBK is running but HHH hits a big knee. Benoit comes back in with shoulder barges through the ropes but goes straight into a knee from HHH. He slams him into the apron, but on the second one, HBK hits a baseball slide immediately after, sending both to the floor in a creative spot. HBK hits a nice moonsault to them on the outside. HBK and HHH back inside, going back and forth until HHH sets up for a Pedigree but Benoit comes in and takes out both. He throws HBK into the ring post and targets HHH with a suplex and some chops. Triple H counters with an Irish whip and places him on the top rope and Benoit ends up in the tree of woe position. HHH Irish whips HBK into Benoit and gets a 2-count. He attempts it again but HBK reverses and Benoit sticks out a boot. HHH and HBK go back and forth, and Benoit clotheslines HBK out the ring out of nowhere. Benoit hits triple German suplexes on HHH and signals the diving headbutt. HBK crotches him in on the top, attempts Sweet Chin Music on HHH who ducks and hits a DDT. He rolls outside and Benoit and HHH fight with Benoit in the top rope. HHH hits a superplex for a 2-count.

They fight back and forth, HHH attempts a Pedigree and Benoit fights to lock in the Crossface. HBK quickly breaks it up and hits a German suplex of his own on HBK, but Benoit counters another into another triple German suplex. He hits the diving headbutt on HBK but only gets a two-count. HBK hits a forearm that sends Benoit to the outside and kips up. He hits an atomic drop, bodyslam, and elbow drop on HHH, and sets up for Sweet Chin Music. He connects but Benoit pulls out HHH. HBK and Benoit fight outside and inside, more big chops from HBK. HBK gets sent into the corner and does his wild sell, Benoit attempts a Sharpshooter but settles for a catapult into the ring post. Michaels is bleeding as Benoit eventually locks in the Crossface. HHH grabs the hand of HBK as he is about to tap, and he and Benoit brawl outside. HHH sends Benoit into the steps then clears the announce table. Benoit fights back and attempts a German suplex on top of the table, but Triple H regains control and attempts a Pedigree. HBK gets involved and he and HBK suplex Benoit through an announce table. HBK is extremely bloody. HBK beckons HHH inside the ring and they fight back and forth, with HBK launching HHH out the ring and into a cameraman with an Irish whip. HHH gets thrown into a ring post and he’s bleeding too. HHH is able to hit a Pedigree out of nowhere but he is slow to cover and Benoit is able to break it up. HHH targets Benoit but he fights back. HHH attempts a Pedigree but Benoit reverses into a Sharpshooter. The crowd is loud. Benoit drags him back from the ropes but HBK breaks it up with Sweet Chin Music. He slowly covers Benoit but gets a 2-count. HBK sets up Sweet Chin Music on Benoit but he ducks it and swiftly ejects HBK. HHH attempts the Pedigree but Benoit locks in the Crossface. HHH stays conscious, tries to roll out, Benoit rolls through, HHH tries to fight it, but he has to tap. Benoit wins. Eddie Guerrero, the WWE Champion, meets his friend in the ring as confetti falls and they emotionally embrace. 

Pros: Well-executed action, quick-paced, intense, hot crowd, exciting, surprise result that the fan’s wanted Cons: Not something that should affect the rating but future events make it hard to invest as expected and make the ending celebration pretty upsetting. 

This match was extremely well-done and I’m struggling to find fault in it within the time capsule of March 2004. Three wrestlers who were talented in their profession had a high stakes match with captivating action and the crowd were invested throughout, with the most popular person at that time winning.
