Remember how I always talk about Israel going for not just Palestine but Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, Syria & so the list goes?
After all their aim is "Greater Israel" which I'll talk about in another blog one day, I'm just gathering material at the moment, anyways, as you know Egypt & Israel signed a peace treaty & Egypt got all the land back Al Hamd L Allah but that doesn't mean Israelis aren't allowed to come in as "tourists".
Dahab, one of the most beautiful small towns in Sinai our beautiful Egyptian land is always full of Israeli tourists who ran away after Israel called them back after what happened on the 7th of October.
Well today a girl shared a video, being harassed by an Israeli tourist who's claiming that he's the owner of the land & that we "Egyptians" are animals, enjoy:
Video credit to the Glocal on Instagram, they're an Egyptian media account on Instagram, here's also the link of the video:
WATERMELON - What is their greatest reason to get out of bed?
APPLE - Messy or clean?
POMEGRANITE - Which myth would they relate to most?
JAM - Can they cook?
CANDY - Do they have a sweet tooth?
BLOOD - What would they do if they saw a stranger's corpse?
Thanks!!
Watermelon- Andric
On some mornings, his injury brings him so much pain he has no want to get out of bed. But he knows how much the health of the student body relies on him. Especially with all the trouble that's been going on lately. He has no choixe but to move. It's his job, after all.
Apple- All
Messy: Lator(though not that much)
Normal neat: Andric, Lilian, Marcus, Raphaël, Walter, Henry, Dahab.
As neat as a hospital room: Noel, Achilles.
Pomegranite- Noel
Noel looks upon the tale of the Frozen Queen with self-reflection. What would've happened if he had ended up killing his brother that day, like the Queen's sister had died? The incident already broke him, but the mere thought of death would make the pieces scatter beyond the point of no return
Jam- All
Yes, absolute chefs: HENRY, Achilles.
Not a chef but can cook alright: Lilian, Andric, Marcus, Raphael, Walter, Lator
Someone please get them away from the kitchen: Noel(rich kid who never had to cook in his life), Dahab (why would I cook it if I can it raw?)(His grandmother is crying her eyes out)
Candy- All
Yes: Lilian, Dahab, Noel, Andric(guiltily, he was a model), Achilles.
No(prefers spice): Henry, Lator.
No(prefers bitter): Marcus, Raphael, Walter.
Blood- Walter
Panic. Utter panic. If he's the one discovering the corps, he's going into a full panic attack and he'll need someone else to come and call the cops. Afterwards, he'll be paranoiac for days, always seeing the corpse in the corner of his eyes.

I am writing this off the stern of “ Amunet” a dahabeya sailing up the Nile. Life is tough. Actually we are not really sailing - although we can - we are being towed up the river by a tugboat. - Seriously - it is almost embarrassing - but that is how it is done. I’m mean Cleopatra had oarsmen doing the same thing and she wasn’t embarrassed. “When in Rome” they say.
From the Overseas Adventures Travel website…
Your trip includes five-night Nile River cruise aboard a dahabeya, a traditional Egyptian sailing vessel. Many people aren’t familiar with these rather odd-looking boats with their flat bottoms and twin triangular sails. Where did dahabeyas come from? And what is it like to sail on one?
With a civilization that developed along the Nile River, it should come as no surprise that some of the earliest boats ever recorded belonged to the Egyptians. As far back as 6,000 BC, ships built of papyrus reeds propelled by rowers using oars plied up and down the life-giving waters of the Nile. As time passed, wood replaced papyrus and square sails appeared on many of the boats of ancient Egypt—which included sturdy cargo vessels that transported quarried stones weighing up to 500 tons to the site of the Great Pyramids. Boats were so integral to the ancient Egyptian way of life that they assumed legendary attributes. A vessel built for Cheops around 2,500 BC was discovered sealed in a pit at the foot of the Great Pyramid of Giza. Known as the “solar barge,” Egyptians believed that it would sail through the skies carrying its royal passenger along sunbeams.
Fast forward several thousand years to the time of Cleopatra, when the famous Egyptian queen honeymooned with Antony aboard a gilded barge, rowed by slaves with silver-tipped oars. While the dahabeya does have roots in the pleasure barges of Cleopatra’s day, it is more accurately traced to the 13th century, a time when the sultans of the Mamluk dynasty utilized ceremonial barges to mark the opening of the canal of Cairo, which celebrated the start of the annual Nile flood. The name of these Mamluk-era imperial vessels means “the golden one” (from the Arabic word for gold, dahab), for they featured gilded railings and lavish decorations as they were guided along the waters of the Nile with the help of some 60 oars.
By the 19th century, dahabeyas developed into slightly more modest affairs, with masts that supported two large sails designed to capture the lightest of breezes while gliding along the river. Early travelers from foreign lands would set off aboard these elegant, triangular-sailed vessels on journeys of three months or more where they could leisurely meander to and from each side of the Nile to explore Egypt’s ancient sites. High profile guests ranging from King Farouk and Winston Churchill to Bernard Montgomery and Mark Twain all settled in for relaxing Nile sailings by dahabeya.
So, if I’m going to catch up this is a good a place as possible. RIGHT?!?!?
So back I go to the day we arrived in Luxor and headed out to visit Karnak’s Temple. The flight to Luxor was just a little over an hour - but that discounts the time to get to the airport, wait at the airport and arrive at our destination. OF COURSE this was seamlessly handled for us but still it took about 5 hours. From the Luxor airport we drove directly to Karnak’s Temple.
This site was massive and this was our toughest travel experience - so far. It was 107 degrees and although Ayman moved us from shaded area to shaded area finding these pockets of shade was painful. My phone even overheated and shut down - IF that gives you a clue to our experience. BUT neither sun nor raging heat could wipe away the awe experiencing wonder we felt while viewing this structure constructed by Egyptians long before power tools, hydraulics and laser levels. OMG!!!
Here is a repeat of some of the pics I sent last night and some new ones. Note the color - this is original.
This sucker is HUGE!!! It is a city of temples built over 2,000 years ago and dedicated to the Theban triad of Amun, Mut, and Khonsu. It is the largest religious building ever made, covering about 200 acres. Here is a model…
Ayman is a wonderful experienced trip leader BUT when he is not being an ambassador for his beloved Egypt with small groups of interested travelers, he is a Digital Archeologist. Using this superpower he is able to guide our eyes and our feet toward things we might not “notice” had we walked through a site alone. And today was one of those times. He led those willing to walk in the blazing sunshine and on a rugged path through artifact yet to be organized and reconnected to a tiny temple still in the site - yet well off the beaten path.
Through the 7 doorframes we walked to a spot with a plywood door and a person guarding it - key in hand. Another “friend” of Ayman. As we huddled in the shade Ayman explained that this temple was covered with mud - 15 feet in some places - more or less depending on the location - A huge about of it in pieces but his one temple was discovered in great shape the the statue complete and undamaged. This temple was dedicated to the female goddess of healing Sehkmet This is one of the few goddesses welcome in any temple.
The friend of Aymen unlocked the door and we went in to a small chamber that led into the second chamber when this amazing statue of Sehkmet was still standing on her pedestal. The room - which must have been 30 feet tall - or more had a small window cut into the ceiling allowing light and air in - BUT I began wondering what amazing time and calendar date that statue would be completely illuminated. By this time - my camera was unusable but I have plenty of friends with pictures that I will get to share with you. ANYWAY - can you even imagine the privilege of seeing this female healer? Despite the heat I had goosebumps.
Speaking of the sun. The Temple of Karnak is also big on sun “coincidences.” For example on December 21 - the Winter equinox - the temple looks like this. National Geographic Magazine list this place as on of the best places in the world to be on December 21.
So much more to know about his amazing place - but I gotta run. EGYPT - what a place!! What a history!! What a story!!!
