Teutonic thrash giants Destruction have announced today that they will be returning to the UK & IRE for a run of dates in April 2020 in support of their latest record, 2019's 'Born To Perish'. Support on all dates will come from Greek thrashers Suicidal Angels and Barcelona's Crisix.

It was an evening too beautiful to be gone with just the blink of an eye: The BURNING WITCHES  release their sublime live stream concert on YouTube. Last Friday, the Swiss metal heroines presented their "Corona Live Accoustic Jam From The Studio", acompanied by guests Courtney Cox (THE IRON MAIDENS), Larissa Ernst (PATER ILTIS, EX GONOREAS) and Noelle Dos Anjos (NUNGARA, ALKOHOLIKA). The band says, "With great joy we present to you our recent acoustic session that we performed with some friends, spontaneously a few days ago. As some of you missed the live stream, we are happy to be able to present a video of the jam! We want to thank our guests, Courtney who already played with us for the third time now, Noelle for the very last minute jam and our good friend Larissa for preparing the session with us. Repasamos el álbum "Born To Perish" de DESTRUCTION aprovechando sus próximas visitas

DESTRUCTION estarán por España el próximo mes de septiembre y vendrán presentando su nuevo álbum «Born To Perish» que pasamos a reseñar a continuación.

Desde 1982, cuando se fundó DESTRUCTION, nunca han perdido su agresividad. Son parte del denominado: BIG 4 ALEMAN por méritos propios que les hacen ganarse el título de legendarios. Este año nos dan «Born To Perish», con toda la pasión y exaltación de siempre. Este es un nuevo capítulo en la larga e impresionante historia de estas leyendas del Thrash teutón que publican este, su décimo séptimo álbum, este mes a través del sello NUCLEAR BLAST.

Durante tres décadas y media, esta banda ha llevado el estándar del Thrash Metal con honor y orgullo por todo el planeta. El miembro principal, Schmier en cargado de la voz y tocar el bajo, junto a Mike Sifringer, en la guitarra se mantienen con el pasar del tiempo, siendo la base del grupo. Pero esta vez introducen sangre nueva y emoción en la banda con la incorporación del batería Randy Black y el guitarrista Damir Eskic.

El género del Thrash Metal, en particular, siempre ha sido y será el instrumento perfecto para examinar las fallas del mundo en el que vivimos, y «Born To Perish» explora en sus letras y ritmos, la codicia, la persecución y nuestra propia inhumanidad con la fuerza obstinada de los Germanos. 

Pero esta producción se comporta de manera muy diferente. Esto tiene dos razones principales. Por un lado, la banda captura el espíritu de álbumes como «Eternal Devastation» o «Infernal Overkill», como lo ha hecho desde los años 80. Sumado a que siempre funcionaron como un trio de músicos, y esta vez que son un cuarteto con una guitarra secundaría que le da más nervio.

«Born To Perish” fue grabado en enero y febrero de 2019 con el productor V.O. Pulver que ha trabajado con PRO-PAIN, BURNING WITCHES y NERVOSA, en los Little Creek Studios de Suiza. Con un sonido agudo, claro y diferenciado. A pesar de esta puesta en escena contemporánea, el disco suena menos árido que muchos álbumes anteriores. Para esta ocasión, el segundo guitarrista, Mr. Eskic, (músico que contribuyó con tres solos en el disco anterior y que, además, fue pupilo de Tommy Vetterli, fundador de CORONER) deja su impronta con su estilo y sello personal. De igual forma, la incorporación en la batería de Mr. Black, de nacionalidad canadiense, que ha participado con ANNIHILATION y PRIMAL FEAR, tiene una marca muy virtuosa, apetecible y oportuna para DESTRUCTION.

El frontman comentó para el medio francés Duke TV: «Fue un proceso que nos llevó tres meses, la composición, grabarlo y mezclarlo. La influencia de los chicos nuevos está aquí, porque hay más shredding. Randy es un baterista muy sólido, con mucho groovy. Puedes escucharlo. Esta vez intentamos hacer las canciones con un ritmo más rápido… Te impactan de inmediato. Es brutal, pero pegadizo. Al escucharlas por primera vez, después las recordarás de inmediato. No escribes un álbum así todo el tiempo. A veces las escribes y después de un rato, piensas ‘esto es muy complicado’, porque quieres ser un artista, expresarte a ti mismo. Creo que esta vez logramos escribir un disco con mucha fuerza».

    La imagen  de la portada, nuevamente es diseñada por el artista húngaro, Gyula, quien mencionó: «Schmier quería una imagen más simple y distinta a la de mis trabajos anteriores con DESTRUCTION. Cuando discutimos el nuevo concepto, estaba feliz con el acercamiento porque pude usar herramientas nuevas, no con pintura, sino dibujando con tinta. Cuando la banda mencionó el nombre del disco, tuve la idea de una cresta compuesta sin el típico león o águila, sino por buitres, con dos cabezas y lleno de simbolismos».

«Born To Perish» de DESTRUCTION tema a tema

La traducción del título es algo así como «Nacido para perecer», es una afirmación no se aplica a la leyenda de Thrash Metal DESTRUCTION. Porque extinguirse o acabarse no tiene nada que ver con los siguientes temas.

Esto comienza con el título tocayo «Born to Perish», saltando cualquier introducción y poniendo todos los instrumentos a tope demostrando que la maquina está bien engrasada para dar lo mejor; 

«Inspired by Death”  la melodía es bastante pesada pero pegadiza en su progreso, riffs desafiantes con la narración que incorpora al resto de la banda, puro Speed Metal;

«Betrayal»  , celeridad y rapidez en su manejo, típico del Thrash Metal, me atrevo a decir que es una emulación de las bandas Norteamericanas del mismo género, están talladas con la misma madera;

«Rotten», , de mis preferidas, en el video se disfruta de la potencia que le da el bajo de Mr. Schmier, los ritmos son simplemente calidad de los teutones que son calidad pura;  

«Filthy Wealth», con pausas aprovechadas por las percusiones de Mr. Black, con un estilo desvergonzado, probando la habilidad de excelentes músicos y con esos coros que si no se cantan es porque a estas alturas no te has entusiasmado con DESTRUCTION;

«Butchered for Life», comienza como una balada pintoresca, que termina con monstruosos riffs inconfundibles de Thrash Metal, despierta recuerdos espeluznantes de rechazar emociones pasadas, destacable el solo de guitarra de Mr. Eskic;  

«Tyrants of the Netherworld», sosiegos o calmas no existen a estas alturas del disco, la velocidad e intensidad tradicionales son exhibidas como una apisonadora; 

«We Breed Evil», tradición de tortura en sus acordes, armonizan sin perder la determinación de nunca darse por vencidos y ese final es simplemente apoteósico;  

«Fatal Flight 17», supremo y excelente con sus riffs insólitos, Mr. Schmier cuenta una historia personal y rinde homenaje a su antiguo héroe Gary Moore, que bien decía: «Puedes tocar una nota en una guitarra y lo que realmente llega a la gente si es la nota correcta en el lugar correcto tocado por la persona correcta» 

Y terminamos con,»Ratcatcher», velocidad e intensidad para terminar la producción con todo el vigor hasta el final con toda la corpulencia conservada en todo el corte. Pero nos quedaba un Bonus track, «Hellbound» (Cover de TYGERS OF PAN TANG), para rematar la faena puro entorno de conquista con acordes que invitan a poner otra vez el disco y disfrutarlo nuevamente.

Con la experiencia de ser el primer disco con DESTRUCTION, el batería Mr. Black, comentaba:

«He grabado bastantes discos de Thrash a lo largo de los años, pero nunca he dejado pistas de batería tan intensas, brutales y dinámicas. ¡Será un gran desafío tocar esas nuevas canciones en vivo! Estoy muy feliz por haber podido contribuir a la composición del disco, ya que Mike y Schmier estaban realmente abiertos a las ideas.

 Este álbum está lleno de increíbles canciones, riffs desgarradores, voces abrasadoras y grandes solos de ambos guitarristas. Y la fórmula de cuatro no ha fallado, y me entusiasma como han encajado. «Born To Perish» es una excelente adición al arsenal de música de los Germanos. Sin embargo, encontramos que algunas de las canciones son repetitivas y no tienen mucho atractivo. Sintiéndolas como relleno y le quitan un poco de seducción al material.

La discografía DESTRUCTION de las últimas dos décadas hechiza y rinde, pero puede perder afecto si no se es admirador del puro Trash Metal que como el Grindcore padece de pocas mutaciones en su elaboración. Ningún fanático del género debería perderse esta «crecimiento». Incluso los indiferentes pueden perfectamente disfrutarlo, porque un cuarteto siempre es mejor que un trio.

A banda lançou os singles “Born to Perish” e “Betrayal” e os fãs já estão eufóricos, você pode me dizer algo mais sobre o novo álbum? Temos um terceiro single a caminho no dia do lançamento, então os fãs terão a oportunidade de ouvir algo mais, mas uma música vindo aí “Inspired By Death”, é uma canção muito legal que soa como “old school” na minha opinião. O álbum está ficando muito bom, fizemos várias mudanças no Destruction nos últimos meses com Randy Black entrando para a banda no ano passado, com a entrada de um segundo guitarrista. Então foi um interessante direcionamento e o processo de gravação. Estamos muito animados com a banda, acho que você conseguirá ouvir isso no álbum. Ele tem muita animação, ele é álbum brutal do Destruction. E é claro que estou muito feliz em ouvir este tipo de reação dos fãs. Já que você citou, é o primeiro álbum de Destruction com Randy Black na bateria e a nova 2ª guitarra de Damir Eskic. Como foi o processo de compor este álbum? Você sabe, Mike e eu escrevemos as músicas. É uma coisa entre nós, deixamos os outros caras também contribuírem. Mike e eu somos os principais compositores, mas Randy fez um trabalho muito legal com a batida, com os padrões de bateria para o álbum. Duas músicas especificamente foram compostas a partir da bateria e depois colocamos os riffs e as ideias da canção juntos. Então foi um jeito diferente de trabalhar, um procedimento diferente, muito interessante. É claro, Damir é um fantástico guitarrista e contribuiu muito com os solos e palhetadas para o álbum. Foi um bom trabalho dos caras, eles respeitam a banda e trouxeram boas ideias para o disco. É claro que no final soa como Destruction, é por isso que eu e o Mike fazemos as composições como um dueto. A arte da capa é matadora, do artista húngaro Gyula, que mostra abutres comendo corpos em um ninho de balas de alto calibre. Quão importante é a arte da capa para expressar espírito de um álbum? Eu sou da velha guarda, vim dos anos 80. Nos anos 80 nós comprávamos música apenas por causa das capas. A capa era uma das coisas mais importantes.
